Today's #patron energy question was a board member who said a patron was complaining they couldn't find anything in nonfiction because it was "so random". The board member's proposed solution to this problem was why don't we put it in sections, like a bookstore!

Btw just want to be clear that Time and Time Again is set to, and will if I don't pause, conclude in May 2025!

Webtoon didn't want to renew or give me any extra episodes so I'm trying to work with what I have. I'm sorry it's ending sooner than I'd like, it's been difficult to come to terms with and challenging to condense my plans.

You deserve a solid conclusion, and I've spent months writing to try and reach that. If there's anything you'd really like to see before it ends, do let me know in case I can (and want to) fit it in.

I'd rather not work with them again, and I hope I won't have to! But coming off of years being overworked and underpaid does not make that easy, to say the least...

I really love hope is a thing with feathers and I also really LOVE the hope as a sewer rat poem too but I wish it was not explicity written as "well actually" against Dickinson asgvsjnk. The imagery is SO GOOD but this whole vibe of "my metaphor is better than your metaphor" kinda sours it for me

Michael's so stern, and laconic, she's honestly just... Cold. But, I think she'd be so gallant towards a female love interest.

Damn... Imagine her kissing your hand (and refusing to break eye contact as she does it).

One could swoon. I'd say she definitely goes on one knee to propose.

Her Spartan demeanor does soften in her love interest's presence. A fond smile lights up her lips, and her piercing eyes shine with adoration. She mindlessly does things like brushing a lock of her so's hair behind her ear, putting her arm around her, or having her sit on her lap.

I also think (since she's the Champion) she has a pathological need to protect. Honestly, it might cause tension as she gets patronizing, even controlling. She's used to being obeyed without question, after all.

I've seen this refrain go around tumblr a lot: "Capitalism has got people treating artists and entertainers as though they should hop on their bicycles like a chained bear, the moment the audience cracks its whip." "Artists do not owe an audience anything." This is true and fair. Treating artists like art-producing machines and demanding they crank out art at a schedule amenable to you, only containing content or themes that you want, is unfair and unreasonable and dehumanizing.

However, capitalism has also got creators treating their (potential) audience like they are obligated to buy their thing as soon as or even before it comes out. In this same reblog chain, the bloggers are shaming people for not buying books at a rate that the authors would prefer. They frame it as a moral imperative to buy books before the series is finished, because the author requires it. I have also seen this regarding pre-orders: exhortations to pre-order books, especially debuts, or else you are ruining an author's career and don't care about marginalized artists. Framing not doing so as "refusing" to, as if you are required to and spitefully denying your obligation. That's also not a fair or reasonable way to treat people.

Authors are not beholden to their audience, but neither are they guaranteed one. Buying books is not the pinnacle of activism, and there is no moral failing to not purchasing a given thing.

Anyway as ever the problem is the death of mass market paperbacks, publishers demanding authors be their own marketers, and capitalism. Not other randos with a limited entertainment budget and their own reading preferences.

& while i'm flattered you'd even consider my art worthy of being bound and sold for real I'll Keep It 100 it would not be for anytime soon. i feel my art currently going through a growth spurt that comes with growing pains which i'm not particularly keen in putting money & resources into putting on paper. making an artbook also demands resources, materials & money (and/or money for the materials,...) which i don't have and likely will not be able to spare the expense of for the next 3 perhaps 5 years so. I've Thought About It. but it is absolutely not a short-term/current plan. one day............ maybe.
