Deidara: *yawns and stirs, sitting up* Already? Feels like I just laid down, hm.

Itachi: I know what you mean. Out on missions like this, no time sleeping is ever enough.

Deidara: *moves to sit on the log and tosses another stick on the low fire* Well go to sleep, Uchiha. No offense but those eye bags look even worse than usual, hm. You — hey! 

Itachi, startled: What?!

Deidara: Your nose, it’s bleeding. K-kinda hard …

Itachi: *looks down and is mildly surprised to see blood trickling down his face* Oh, damn …

Deidara: *roots around in his pack and comes up with a bit of cloth* Here, hm .. hold this under there. I can’t believe you didn’t feel it.

Itachi: *wads it up and tilts his head back, holding the material to his nostrils* Happens so much, I barely notice it anymore.

Deidara: Sasori used to tell me that nosebleeds happen when the air is too dry. But then again he told me a lot of things that turned out to be lies, so —

Itachi, softly: You can’t carry this around inside of you forever.

Deidara, sighing: Just … just get your nose to stop so you can go to bed already, hm. I don’t want to talk about him anymore.

Itachi: Alright. 

*the two sit quietly for awhile, Itachi holding the cloth to his nose and Deidara staring into the fire*

Deidara, speaking suddenly, quietly: He should have just left me the fuck alone. If he hadn’t made me fall for him, his stupid death wouldn’t be hurting so damn much, hm. And he’s probably in heaven or hell or wherever he went, laughing at me.

Itachi: I really doubt that, Deidara. He loved you, too. So much. He never would have willingly left you behind.

Deidara: *snorts* Yeah, right.

Itachi: No, it’s the truth. You remember how often I used to visit his lab? Those check-ups and hour-long transfusions he used to give me? Do you know what he spent all of  that time talking about? YOU. His precious Deidara. How beautiful Deidara is. How funny Deidara is. How happy Deidara made —

Deidara: *gruffly clears his throat; when he speaks his voice sounds thick, as if near tears* Okay, okay, I get it. *quickly wipes his hand across his eyes* Y-you done being all bloody yet?

Itachi: *cautiously moves the cloth away from his nose; the bleeding’s stopped* Yeah.

Deidara: Then go to sleep, Uchiha. You’ve only got a few hours here, we leave at first light.

Itachi: *lays on his side and closes his eyes* Okay. Goodnight.

Deidara: ‘Night. And Itachi?

Itachi: Yes?

Deidara, blushing: T-thanks, hm.

some random, half-baked sasodei headcanons of mine:

deidara doesn’t speak of his past, really; he doesn’t think it’s important. but there’s clearly something wrong with him, something that made him deranged the way he is: that something really intrigues sasori, and he thinks about it more often than he feels comfortable admitting to himself. he starts piecing together whatever information he can get from deidara on his life before the akatsuki, which is admittedly little: deidara has never mentioned his parents, for all sasori knows he could have been grown in a lab, or had randomly spawned one day, emerging from underneath the earth’s crust; deidara makes no mentions of having any friends he grew up with or might have missed. the only thing deidara often describes of his childhood are landscapes, animals and plants he’d observe in his countless hours spent in nature. deidara has always been a wildchild, all mosquito bites and jagged scars and leaves in his hair, feet dirty from running around barefoot, and hardly ever staying indoors even after joining the akatsuki. even as a kid deidara was very observant and perceptive to his surroundings, and has always been deeply fascinated with animals and nature’s cycles, often making comments to sasori and stopping to admire birds’ nests and certain trees. He recognizes birds by their songs, has highly developed spacial orientation and sense of smell, is agile and durable. sasori finds this fascinating: having secluded himself in the confines of his workshops ever since he was a kid, sasori never shared any of deidara’s magnetism towards nature; never felt the need to go further than his desk and bench, never felt claustrophobic in the stale air of his lab. they’re opposites, in this way: sasori is used to the comfort of tight spaces, like a desert animal living in a cunicle underneath the sand, most at ease when compressed in walls close enough it almost feels like being cradled and held, almost feels like being the womb again. deidara needs space, freedom, soaring high among the clouds on his clay bird, no limit in sight other than the horizon where the mountains meet the sky, the pungent smell of fresh air and wet earth clinging to his skin, the cold wind making his eyes tear.

opposites in the way sasori is so consumed by his own past it eats at him even when he’s all wood and poison and cables, grief chewing at his innards relentlessly, uncaring sasori has given everything he had and more to forget, to rise above human emotions and pain, sacrificed his entire life and body to a cause higher than mourning. opposites in the way deidara holds on to nothing, is troubled by nothing, no ghosts of the past keeping him awake in his bed at night, gripping the bed sheets with wide eyes the way sasori has all his life. sasori finds deidara’s detachment and lack of past ironically inhumane and disturbing, the deepest parts of his conscious painfully aware that he’s envious, so desperately envious and jealous of deidara’s uncaring nature, and his tendency to not form any profound attachment to a thing as impermanent as a life. finds his cruelty and derangement all the more intriguing because they don’t seem to be spurred on by a past more tragic than the average shinobi’s; finds himself wondering whether deidara really was born a killer, a child terrorist wiping out entire villages because he likes the drama of the pyrotechnics. and yet sasori can’t help himself but look for all the tell tale signs of disturbance and abuse in deidara’s behavior, not because he cares but because he’s deeply curious and fascinated. because it’s his nature to pick apart and examine and dissect and put back in place the mechanics of anything he holds an interest for, because he can’t help but want to know deidara intimately, turn him inside out, find out where it hurts most and what’s been broken and messily mended by clueless and misguided hands that had never been taught how to piece the shards back together, so sasori can put it all back together, do it right this time, and fill the gaps between the pieces and fit them correctly again. not because he cares about the insufferable brat, not because he thinks it’s unfair and deidara deserves better, not out of empathy and compassion. simply out of sheer morbid curiosity and technical interest.

any sasodei headcanons you’d be willing to bless us with? some of mine are:

sasori is extremely obsessive when it comes to deidara; once sasori takes a liking to something or someone, he’s the type to go IN. He wants to peel all of deidara’s layers one by one, dissect his thoughts, past, habits and attitudes, inspect every inch of his body in and out, get to know him deeply and intimately and figure out all there is to deidara, like he does with his craft. in my head, not only does he find deidara to be extremely fascinating (and stupid, he really doesn’t know why he’s in love with him) and is very captivated by him, but due to the loss of his parents, he forms an obsessive, borderline morbid attachment to deidara that manifests in things like having to know where he is at all times, ensuring he’s safe, thorough clinical check ups after battle, freaking out and getting angry at deidara when he’s putting himself in danger/gets hurt, etc. Though deidara is capable of taking care of himself and sometimes finds sasori’s behavior to be patronizing or belittling, he’s a HUGE attention whore and he LOVES all the doting and attention sasori gives him, good or bad. I think they’re both extremely starved for connection and love, and it manifests in obsessive attachment for sasori, and extreme attention whoring for deidara.

as opposed to sasori, i actually like to think that deidara was just born that way, and i don’t mind the lack of explicit tragic backstory to deidara (but also acknowledging that war and shinobi training on a child was probably damaging to an extent). He definitely strikes me as a sociopath/narcissist, and one of the things i enjoy about him is his nonchalance and lack of remorse for his actions; he’s less of an uwu baby and more of a chill little psycho to me.

speaking of chill: imo deidara is actually very laid back and funny, and i refuse and reject the “hot-headed comic relief” role he was given on later in the anime. While he’s no doubt arrogant and temperamental and has an inferiority complex, he’s also smart, quick, witty, deadly and mostly cool calm and collected (unless a sore spot is hit). Sasori on the other hand… sasori has a very short fuse, and is very prone to quick anger outbursts when things slip from his control or don’t go according to plan. But sasori is also more mature, and often has to reign in deidara and his ire.

sasori’s love language is definitely acts of service. He’s no good with expressing his feelings, and doesn’t have deidara’s desperate need to touch and to be touched, but he shows his love for deidara via things like bathing him after a battle, washing his hair, brushing it for him, doing deidara’s mani and pedicure, etc.

in his earlier days, deidara deeply resented the akatsuki and itachi for forcing him to be part of the organization, when all he wanted to do was be free and do his thing; i see deidara as a petulant and bratty child who had his freedom taken away, and started acting up terribly as a result of this. He’d throw temper tantrums, have screaming matches with sasori, blow shit up, cry and make horrible choices in retaliation, which he’s often get disciplined for by the akatsuki. he often would try to escape the basement, only for sasori to drag him back by his hair and punish him. As he grew up he calmed down and started minding the akatsuki less and less.

deidara is obsessed with birds, and is a huge people watcher/very observant; in his downtime he often tries to convince sasori to do “normal people” things with him.

deidara has a raging teenager libido that sasori had to develop a human- form jutsu for, in order to appease deidara’s appetite regularly and often, or he becomes insufferable. Pleasure is well and okay, but for sasori sex is all about exercising the control he has over deidara.

speaking of power dynamics… deidara cedes most control to sasori in various aspects of their partnership, but is actually very difficult to break; he always makes sure to hold some control for his own, just in case things get out of hand. Sasori has managed to bring him past that a few times, and he most treasures the instances when he gets deidara to submit fully and without reserve. Sasori values devotion the most.

I have so many its real hard to organize them into something coherent but here goes nothing!! 

-Sasori has Severe Attachment Issues, for obvious reasons. And like you said, it definitely comes out as obsessive behavior over Deidara. He can't quite admit he's attached, he likes to pretend its just because they're forced to be partners and keeping him alive is just another one of his job duties. Everyone but him knows he's lying to himself. Especially Deidara. He is well aware of his importance to Sasori, despite only having the vaguest idea of why Sasori is so skittish around attachments. Between his parents and Komushi, everyone he loves dies, so if he just doesn't love, then they can't die, right? Or if they do, it won't hurt, right? 

-Wrong. Deidara can be reckless and bold, but overall he's a very skilled shinobi and tactician, so he doesn't actually get into severe life threatening danger too often. Plus, as exhibited in their first appearance, Sasori actually trusts Deidara to get the job done on his own (and he's RIGHT). HOWEVER. One genuine near death experience where Sasori had to rush him back to HQ and do his damn best to keep Deidara alive with his skills far better suited to dead bodies made him absolutely panic. Phantom heartbeat and all. Pacing the shop while Deidara sleeps it off, heavily sedated, covered in poultices and bandages, Sasori realizes that refusing to admit attachment wouldn't make it hurt any less if he lost Deidara. 

-Its all over for the hoes (Deidara). He wakes up to a completely new Sasori that sets him entirely off kilter for Days. He's overbearing and fussy and overprotective and spoiling Deidara with as many acts of service he can possibly contrive, all while being verbally just as cold and dismissive as always. Deidara is smug and flattered and allows it, never pushes Sasori to admit anything because he really doesn't need to. He does however make this up to himself by taking advantage of it at every possible opportunity. He looooves attention. Even when Sasori gets way too overprotective.

-Deidara's got a gnarly fuckin pain tolerance and he'd like to be treated as such!! It kinda drives him nuts when Sasori acts like Deidara needs to be maintained like one of his puppets. Like its flattering too so he puts up with it because thats how Sasori shows he cares, but they definitely get in arguments about it. But arguments are just foreplay for them so its kinda part of the fun. He riles Sasori up for fun, knowing that the more pissed he is, the more sadistic he'll be later. Sasori still fusses over him in aftercare, but not in the same panicked and obsessive way he does after a battle because he knows Exactly what he did to Deidara and also exactly how to treat it, knowing it is all always fixable, even if it requires specialized antidotes and/or a few days to walk it off.

-Sasori as a human had a shockingly low pain tolerance for a shinobi. Part of why he wanted a puppet body. He would bitch and moan and languish over getting knicked by a kunai. That's part of why he created Hiruko. Even if he can't feel, it doesn't mean he needs to put his body at risk willy nilly. He's also Obsessive about keeping his puppet body in absolutely perfect condition, not even a scratch on the varnish.

-Sometimes when Deidara is just too fucking cute/beautiful/perfect/whatever Sasori is gripped with emotions he cant handle or explain and it turns into hostility. He's got that squish instinct where he hears kill bill sirens and wants to crush anything that crawls under his skin and makes him *feel* these weird fuzzy emotions that he shouldn't be able to have. He hates it, its really confusing and weird and uncomfortable but he's also so fascinated he can't help himself.

-Speaking of emotions. His puppet body isn't quite capable of them, he doesn't have the mess of neurochemicals and physiological responses that most people have. No racing heart, sweating, trembling hands, headaches and stomachaches, sore muscles, bruises, hunger, exhaustion, none of it. So when something can reach into his heart and make him feel shit... he's not the best at handling it. can't really recognize what it is, most of the time.

-Deidara can, though. He's startlingly emotionally intelligent, as in he's perceptive and a tactician who understands what's happening and knows well enough not to go poking landmines. He sidesteps this so deftly Sasori has no idea he knows, while Deidara is far more aware of Sasori's emotions than he is.

-With this said though, Deidara's still super unstable, volatile, prone to quick and violent mood swings. Just because he understands on a logical level doesn't mean he is immune to them. He's impulsive and prone to overreacting to shit and he doesn't feel particularly motivated to hold himself back most of the time. His emotions strike like a match and burn out just as fast, usually leaving craters in their wake though. He likes blowing shit up, and honestly, good for him he needs an outlet for all that.

-Sasori's outlet is his puppetry, obviously. Nothing makes him feel more powerful than being elbow deep in a not-quite-dead skilled shinobi's chest cavity, pulling them apart and rearranging them to best suit him. I think he used to be veryyyy squeamish as a human, but now that he's exempt from death and does not have the same physiological disgust reactions, its very clinically detached and calculated for him.

-Sasori's other outlet is Deidara. Deidara lets him do damn near whatever the fuck he wants, and he loves the heady power trip of watching Deidara react for him. He likes to control him. He's possessive and demanding and selfish, but in a deeply sadistic way where it always translates to doing some depraved shit to Deidara just to hear him beg. Likewise, being under Sasori's control is the only way Deidara can let go and feel that sort of bliss that comes with allowing himself to be entirely mindless. He trusts Sasori so much, very literally with his life when it gets into the kinkier sides of their dynamic. Deidara is a pain slut and Sasori has control issues and a nasty case of bloodlust. Just go look at those gifs of Human Sasori in battle. Go on, I'll wait. You know that face he makes where his eyes widen and he smiles way too wide? Yeah. He's delighted by causing pain, and Deidara is delighted to receive it from him.

-They are so fucking kinky. I mean its already literally canon that Deidara calls Sasori 'master' and Sasori calls him 'brat' like come ON the precedent is set!! Even the english dub version of 'my man' is pretty fucking gay too. So yeah, theyre master and brat, Kishi said so, I'm just making it explicit. I could write dissertations on their dynamic but this is getting long enough so I will keep it so simple. For now.

-A non exhaustive list of what they're into: domination/submission, complete power exchange, bratting, brat taming, orgasm control/denial/overstimulation, praise!!, impact play, bondage (hello that coil gets put to good use), wax/temperature play, under the influence/poison play, literally anything that makes Deidara feel and scream while Sasori laughs. Deidara wants transcendence, Sasori wants control, they both get everything they need in whatever way Sasori deems fit. He does what he wants and Deidara learns to like it or loves when he hates it. Its complicated, but it works for them.

-They never really talk about it, they don't verbalize their feelings or spend too long negotiating scenes or rehashing after they're over. Bad bdsm etiquette, yes, but honestly they don't really need to. They understand each other implicitly, they've been partners in battle for years at this point, they know what real pain and fun pain looks like. Plus it adds this twist of angst where they both sit with these feelings they are so aware are reciprocated, but they're not comfortable or maybe even able to express it like that. They're artists though, they're used to alternative forms of self expression.

-Sasori is meticulous about aftercare. Fussy, overbearing, kind of annoying but Deidara fucking loves it he's so needy and starved for affection and recognition and praise and tenderness and care. And Sasori loves that Deidara is enamored by him, too fascinated to ever leave and Sasori will nurture that dependence because he likes being needed. They're so fucked up but they work perfectly for each other and only each other. Thats the only mother fucker in any of the shinobi nations who can handle him (mutual).

I am Belphé. I made this Tumblr only because it's a bit shitty on twitter lol Just in case. You can also find me on bluesky.

So. Let's talk a bit about this account. I created it to share the commissions I order from the artists I love. Commissions will be mainly on my OTP DeiKuro, Kurotsuchi and a few other fandoms like Hataraku maō-sama! (because I don't want to create multiple Tumblr accounts). I won't be commissioning Deidara fanart alone, as there's already a lot of content on him.

I feel like Gil and Toris have a lot of talking to do before they're ready to become friends, much less date. There's clearly a lot of resentment between them.

I'm not sure if I necessarily ship it (in the sense that I wouldn't go out of my way to look for it), but I'd be open to it if it was written in a way I'd find interesting/appealing. (And I mean...I love angst, soo...)

I just tend to ship Toris with others before I think of him with Gilbert.

(The irony here is that, while they won't become a ship in it, in the sequel to TWL, they'll be forced to work together, and they begrudgingly realize that the other isn't all bad, XDD)

WHOOO BOY. Okay. The concept of them as a ship is interesting. (Especially since Alfred IS on Ivan's level, power-dynamic wise.) If Ivan himself had a different personality, I would probably ship this and find it funny at times. However, I don't see Alfred ever getting with someone who treated one of his friends (Toris) like trash.

Though, if that little (well, it's big to me, but you know what I mean) detail aside, the dynamic is interesting.

I feel like Ivan would bring out the worst in Alfred. Which, if handled well, might be something interesting to explore.

I also have read some funny humor-genre fics with them in the past, and I enjoyed them (honestly, I see them being so petty trying to one-up each other XD), so I'll give the ship that. But it's definitely not something I go out of my way to look for.

(Honestly, I don't really ship Ivan with many people, tbh. Mostly Francis and Yao.)

Whether their relationship is platonic or skews romantic, I don't mind; I just like seeing them as very close! (Bonus points if Ed is aloof at first, but then ends up getting super protective over Raivis as time goes on, to the point where he'll stand up to Ivan for him. [And oooh, even more bonus points if Raivis pushes aside his fear and returns the favor later, sticking up for Eduard!])

I tend to find more stuff where they're platonic, but romance-leaning stuff is cute, too!

If they do become a romantic couple, I see their relationship being super soft, gentle, and slow-moving. (Though with some cheesy romantic stuff like poetry and flowers courtesy of Raivis, XD)

Everyone who's been following me for awhile knows this, but SuFin is one of my favorite ships in general. I love everything about it!

(And I know a lot of people, including me, focus on the more fluffier aspects of the ship, BUT there is so much potential for angst, too!)

While I definitely prefer romantic SuFin, I have read some interesting fics where their relationship is more...amiable exes, where the two are in relationships with other characters.

I feel like this explains my thoughts on these two pretty well, XDD.

despite their frequent arguments and bickering, sasori and deidara are an extremely stable couple. like, ride or die type of committed; they’re thoroughly enamoured and obsessive and totally dependant on each other and not the best communicators but even with their many differences, they understand each other on a molecular level and couldn’t imagine dating anyone else. it’s them or nothing. they may be toxic and neither knows what they’re doing, but they’re dead set on making things work and learn along the way through trial and error. deidara is entirely devoted to sasori, body and soul; to sasori, deidara is everything he saw in others and wanted for himself, but never dared to even dream of.

though both sasori and deidara are resolved on staying together no matter what, they did discuss hard limits in their relationship; boundaries that if crossed, they’d never be able to recover from. one both of them agreed on is cheating. with their pasts and the way they are, neither of them would be able to cope with the other cheating, and would take it really really badly. another hard limit for deidara is substance addiction; he’s familiar with its effects, and he’s absolutely positive he cannot have that in his life, ever again (though this is more like a fair warning prompted by his personal trauma, than something sasori is likely to fall into). for sasori, dishonesty is an immediate deal breaker. under no circumstances is deidara allowed to lie to him, ever: no white lies, no omission of information: sasori asks, and deidara has to answer.

entire honesty on deidara’s behalf came with a lot of work: he’s by nature evasive and not one to trust easily, so in the earlier days of their relationship, it was a lot of deidara tiptoeing around answers and sasori seeing right through his bullshit. eventually, deidara learnt that he owes sasori the truth under all circumstances, even if he has to force it out through tears. it’s non negotiable.

quite the feat considering deidara is a compulsive liar. or a rehabilitated one at least. lying is what gets him the most attention, doesn’t matter if it’s positive or negative. deidara HAS to be seen and heard. it’s not that he enjoys deceiving others either, it’s more a thing he learnt to pick up quick as a child, in order to survive in an unstable environment created by abuse, addiction, neglect and fostercare. deidara has perfectly mastered the art of keeping a chill and laid back façade, of always being friendly and upbeat and yet never letting anyone in too close to see if there’s anything deeper than that. not that sasori ever fell for it: there’s something so twisted and damaged and somber and guarded about deidara, that sasori can see it bleed through even when he’s all sunny smiles and quick jokes. even when he thinks nobody is looking. once the layers were peeled back, for sasori it was like looking in a mirror: sasori sees the darkness, the hurt, the resilience, the maturity that comes too soon, the shame, the anger, the compulsive and the desperate, and instead of being turned off by it, he wants to observe and touch and devour deidara whole with all of his fucked up quirks and habits. feels the animalistic urge to put deidara on a table and vivisect him and analyze every fiber of his being, learn and consume all there is to deidara so intimately, it hurts and makes him want to hurt. he wants to squeeze out the life out of deidara, brutalize him and put him back together. wants to know and own him inside and out.

one thing they both had to learn and get accustomed to was trusting the other, and giving up control. both sasori and deidara are by default weary, hyper independent, and over all not well versed in emotional vulnerability. it took a lot of experimenting, frequent check ins, and reassurance to make things work. sasori is paranoid to the point of the pathological, and deidara would rather eat a shoe than show a single weakness. slowly, the Talks became less dreadful, they started picking up on each other’s patterns, thought processes and non verbal signals, and communication got much easier. the hurt lessened, the ever crushing weight of loneliness lessened, the guard came down and sasori and deidara went head first from hyper independent to codependent. deidara makes always sure to keep all of his promises to sasori, never betraying his trust or casting doubt over his love and devotion for him.

they’re both in it for the long run. and still, despite them both being ready to take it to the next step, it took months of persuasion and time to get deidara to move in with sasori; sasori still pretends he’s not aware deidara keeps an escape bag packed with clothes that still got the tags on, passport, cash and his most important documents stowed away and ready, in case he ever has to get out and fast. deidara keeps it underneath the driver seat of his car, and sasori found it accidentally while fixing an issue with deidara’s car on his request. at first sasori was terribly hurt and betrayed. but he eventually understood that his partner’s reluctance to move in with him and fear that he’ll be thrown out every moment now, has to do more with deidara’s continuous home insecurity throughout his childhood and teenage years, than with any sort of plan of leaving sasori.

they both need SO much reassurance. jesus. deidara has the insufferable tendency to treat sasori like he’s made of glass: he makes sure to caress him and repeat disgustingly sweet, gentle, comforting words to him until they’re engraved in his frontal lobe, like he’s stupid, or a baby. sasori hates that it works. sasori hates how he feels the tension melt right off of his shoulders and jaw, how he feels his brows unfurrow and his traitorous body always nestles deeper against deidara. how he feels the ache, the doubt and the worry slowly uncoil from the deadly grasp they have on his throat, his ribcage, his stomach. can barely stand the way his heart breaks in two whenever deidara’s upset. hates hates hates the way he seems to always know what to say and where to touch him, to placate deidara’s inner turmoil and restless mind.
