Parliament Special Session: ముందస్తు ఎన్నికలు..? పార్లమెంట్ సమావేశాల ఎజెండా ఇదేనా..?
Parliament latest news today(Breaking news of today in India) :

Labour Party Triumphs 2024 General Election
The United Kingdom has witnessed a seismic shift in its political landscape as the Labour Party achieved a landslide victory in the 2024 general election. With an impressive 412 seats, Labour has secured a majority of 174, marking a significant transformation in British politics.
A Devastating Blow for the Conservatives
The results are nothing short of catastrophic for the Conservative Party, which has seen its worst performance in terms of seats in history. Reduced to just 121 seats, this dramatic fall from grace highlights a significant disconnect between the party and the electorate. The decline is stark when compared to their 2019 landslide victory under Boris Johnson. Many argue that under the leadership of Rishi Sunak, the party has lost its Conservative identity and, consequently, its voter base.
The Liberal Democrats' Resurgence
The Liberal Democrats have emerged as significant players, capturing 72 seats—their highest tally since 1923. This resurgence indicates a growing appetite among voters for a centrist alternative, possibly reflecting disenchantment with both Labour and Conservative policies.
Other Parties and Their Gains
SNP: Holding steady with nine seats, the Scottish National Party continues to be a force in Scotland.
Reform UK: As a supporter of Reform UK, I'm pleased to see them securing five seats. This marks a breakthrough and suggests potential for future growth.
Plaid Cymru and the Green Party: Both parties have made modest gains, with four seats each, indicating a continued presence in the political arena.
Reflecting on the Conservative Collapse
As someone who voted for Reform UK, it's frustrating to see the Conservatives squandering their opportunity. Under Rishi Sunak, the party seemed to drift away from traditional conservative values. Instead of capitalising on the momentum built in 2019, there was a sense of complacency and lack of clear direction. It's almost as if they were resigned to losing, a sentiment shared by many former Conservative voters.
The Road Ahead for Labour
With Sir Keir Starmer at the helm, Labour now faces the daunting task of governing with such a commanding majority. While many of their supporters celebrate, the true test lies ahead. Can Labour deliver on their promises and address the myriad challenges facing the UK? Only time will tell.
Reform UK's Promising Future
In my honest opinion, the results for Reform UK are just the beginning. With a foothold in Parliament, they have the potential to grow significantly over the next few years. I predict that within 12 months, Labour's honeymoon period will end, and the realities of governance will set in. Disillusionment is likely, and when it happens, Reform UK will be poised to capitalise on the shift.
A Time of Change
The 2024 general election has undeniably set the stage for a period of significant change in the UK. The political landscape has been reshaped, and the next few years will be crucial in determining the country's direction. Whether Labour can maintain their support, or if other parties, including Reform UK, rise to the occasion, remains to be seen. One thing is certain: change is coming. Mark my words!

Just bc I've seen the post 8 times on my dash today but I don't wanna harsh the op's joy because it is not their fault the headline was insanely misleading: in case no one else has said, Thailand have not legalised gay marriage, not yet. The bill proposing the legalisation has been ratified by the party submitting it and passed to parliament, which is still extremely positive and lovely and to be celebrated, but it has not passed the bill yet.
#i'm trying to be nice and this isn't the op's fault#reporting and publishing should be responsible not just buzzwords#the headline was LEGALISED GAY! but the content of the article was a link to the ap article from october#i believe it was due to go to parliament yesterday or today but i may be misremembering#either way the only major political news in th at the moment is about#the mp ice rukchanok lese majesty breach#and even that is just western reporting i haven't seen much on thai news sites about it

Remembering John Prescott: a true character of British politics. From his time as Deputy PM, championing Labour values, to his surprising turn on Top Gear, where his wit and humor bridged divides. Liked on both sides of the aisle, he left a mark on politics and pop culture alike. RIP.

Political polarisation growing in Europe
The political diversity in European countries could lead to the rise to power of national-oriented forces, according to Voxeurop.
Dutch political scientist Cas Mudde wrote that the National Assembly was “more fragmented than ever” in France.
Between seven and ten parties will have to join forces to achieve a majority and exclude the Rassemblement National [RN, National Rally].
According to a Dutch expert on the national-oriented, “those who say that Macron’s wager has succeeded are wrong. From Macron’s point of view, France is even less governable, because his support in the National Assembly has dwindled considerably, while the RN is far from defeated.”
Failing to become the new French Prime Minister, RN President Jordan Bardella became president of Viktor Orbán’s (Fidesz) newly formed Patriots for Europe (PfE) party, one of three competing national-oriented groups in the European Parliament.

So for the last week, Australia has been enwrapped in a story of political intrigue, after a member of Victoria's parliament was seemingly photoshopped by a staff member at Nine (Australia's second largest news company) to have larger breasts and a midriff in a photo used to promote a story.
Already being condemned for this stuffup by basically every side of politics (a rare feat) gasoline was then poured on the fire by Nine, as they then came out and blamed Adobe's Photoshop for having added the features itself when a staffer resized the photo, something which anyone with any knowledge of how Photoshop works could tell you is not a thing.
The fallout was so bad that the excuse has become a national punchline in the last few days, with all manner of stuffups being blamed on Photoshop's newly gained sentience.
Anyway, today Georgie has posted this photo to her twitter in what has to be the most shade laden post we've ever seen from an Aussie politician:

The Best News of Last Month
Sorry for being not active this month as I had some health problems. I'll start posting weekly now :) Meanwhile here's some good from last month
1. Widow donates $1 billion to medical school, giving free tuition forever
Ruth Gottesman surprised by her late husband's $1 billion in Berkshire stock, decides to donate it in full to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York City's poorest borough. The donation is intended to cover students' tuition indefinitely, ensuring access to medical education for generations.
A video capturing students' emotional reactions to the news, cheering and crying, circulated after the announcement, highlighting the profound impact of the donation on the medical school community.
2. Electric school buses outperform diesel in extreme cold
In Colorado's West Grand School District, electric school buses outperformed their diesel counterparts, particularly in the bitterly cold temperatures of towns like Kremmling, where morning temperatures can drop below -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite common concerns about reduced range in extreme weather, the electric buses maintained their battery charge even in these frigid conditions, providing reliable transportation for students.
This success has been welcomed by the school district, as diesel vehicles also face challenges in starting in Colorado's harsh winter weather.
3. Christian Bale unveils plans to build 12 foster homes in California
Christian Bale has led a tour round the new village in California where he plans to build 12 foster homes, as well as two studio flats to help children transition into independent living, and a 7,000 sq ft community centre.
The actor has spearheaded the building of a unique complex of facilities with the aim of keeping siblings in the foster care system together, and ideally under the same roof.
4. Average lifespan of a person with Down syndrome has increased from 25 years in 1983 to 60 years today
Today the average lifespan of a person with Down syndrome is approximately 60 years.
As recently as 1983, the average lifespan of a person with Down syndrome was 25 years. The dramatic increase to 60 years is largely due to the end of the inhumane practice of institutionalizing people with Down syndrome.
5. Greece legalises same-sex marriage
Greece has become the first Christian Orthodox-majority country to legalise same-sex marriage. Same-sex couples will now also be legally allowed to adopt children after Thursday's 176-76 vote in parliament.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the new law would "boldly abolish a serious inequality".
6. Massachusetts police K9 tracks scent for over 2 miles to find missing 12-year-old in freezing cold
A Massachusetts police K9 followed her nose to help find a 12-year-old who went missing in frigid temperatures last week, tracking the child’s scent for over two miles, authorities said.
K9 Biza, a female German shepherd, was called on to help after officers learned the child left their home at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and was last seen in the Pakachoag Hill area of Auburn, the Auburn Police Department said.
7. Good News for the Socially Anxious: People Like You a Lot More Than You Think They Do, New Research Confirms
The "Lake Wobegon effect" or "illusory superiority" phenomenon highlights people's tendency to overestimate their abilities, but recent research suggests that in social interactions, individuals often underestimate their likability and charm.
Studies indicate that people consistently fail to recognize signals of others' liking toward them, leading to a "liking gap" where individuals believe they are less likable than they actually are.
Techniques such as focusing more on others during conversations and genuinely expressing interest in them can help alleviate social anxiety by shifting the focus away from self-criticism. Ultimately, understanding that others may also experience similar anxieties can lead to a more relaxed and enjoyable social experience.

The Marriage Equality Law has been enacted in Thailand...
The news that His Majesty, the King has signed and approved the Marriage Equality Law was announced in the Royal Gazette today, September 24, 2024. This means that the law will officially come into effect on January 22, 2025!!!
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
What new changes has the law brought into effect?
- Two individuals can marry regardless of gender
- The minimum age for marriage has been raised from 17 to 18 (You will still need parental consent to marry should you be under the age of 20, which is what Thailand considers a "legal adult")
- Thai citizens can register their foreign marriages under Thai Law (I am very happy to see this being specified as I wasn't sure it would be-- big excitement for someone who has a 'foreign' partner)
- Joint Adoptions are allowed
- Spouses have the right to inherit after spousal death
- Spouses can be assigned as medical proxies to make any/all medical decisions for their spouse
- Spouses gain rights under social security law: including compensation and retirement benefits in case of spousal death
- Spouses are entitled to tax benefits, including personal income tax deductions
[SOURCE]
Looking to the future, there is currently a draft for the "Gender Identity Recognition Act" that, I desperately hope, is on its way to parliament 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

Italy’s M5S: Meloni “isolated” in Brussels, von der Leyen neglects her
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government is more isolated than ever at EU level, an EU MP from Italy’s Five Star Movement (M5S) party revealed, according to Euractiv.
M5S MEP Valentina Palmisano (The Left) said her ECR group “is under scrutiny in Europe.”
The parties that make up Meloni’s government majority are increasingly isolated in Europe. Not only is Ursula von der Leyen snubbing them, but she has also stated she will not negotiate their programme.
Italy’s ruling coalition consists of Meloni’s Brothers of Italy (ECR), Forza Italia (EPP), and national-oriented Matteo Salvini’s Lega (Patriots for Europe). Read more HERE

did you see te pati maori declared independence??
I DID NOT! Holy shit! Thanks for the news!
Okay, now reporting back from one research deep-dive, the recent context as I understand it is this:
Last November, a conservative right-wing Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, assumed office. He's got a lot of less than stellar right-wing policies, and that includes making cuts to the Ministry of Social Development and opposing co-governance with the Waitangi Tribunal and other Māori leadership organisations over the administering of public services such as education, health, and infrastructure. He's been openly critical of Māori seats in Parliament, though he hasn't (yet) opposed them. Over the course of his administration, there's been an initiative to omit or cut mentions of the Treaty of Waitangi, the foundational document of New Zealand that forms the basis of arguments for Māori protections, from official language.
Which brings us to yesterday, May 30th. Budget Day. The day the new administration would announce their first budget and a day of mass action for supporters of te Pāti Māori protesting the treatment of Māori under the new government. I don't have any concrete numbers, but RNZ reports thousands of protestors, while the NZ Herald estimates "tens of thousands" turning out nation-wide, and a walking protest that delayed rush-hour traffic in Auckland for hours.
You may have already guessed that the budget was Bad. As I understand it, the budget effectively cut any kind of targeted funding for Māori health or education, and decreased funding for Māori cultural festivals and celebrations. And again, I cannot stress enough how much I am not an expert on this topic, so there's probably a lot more in there I don't know about.
In response to the new budget, Māori Party MP Rawiri Waititi issued a Declaration of Independence to the New Zealand Parliament, (video of his speech in link) with the support of his fellow te Pāti Māori co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer.
There doesn't seem to be any concrete plan in place yet for the organisation of the new Māori parliament, but MPs Waititi and Ngarewa-Packer met with protestors to collect signatures for the Declaration, which they plan to bring to a hui taumata (meeting of congress) today, Friday, May 31st. The text of the Declaration can be found on te Pāti Māori website, in the form of a petition. You do not have to be Māori to sign, but I believe you do have to be kiwi.
#damn this is exciting!!#I'm sure I don't understand the full context of what's happening right now#maybe the party is determined to see this through#maybe it's a show of Māori political power intended to force the coalition government out of its conservative nose-dive#I don't fucking know!!#but I am very hopeful and excited to see what kind of future te Pāti Māori intends for Aotearoa#fucking power move#indigenous rights#politics#Māori
