[ad_1] GG News Bureau Maharashtra, 23rd November. In the Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024, slogans emerged as the lifeblood of political campaigns, shaping narratives and swaying voter sentiment. The Mahayuti alliance, led by the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), surged ahead with a commanding lead in 215 of the 288 seats by 2 PM, backed by a series of impactful slogans that resonated across the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded the BJP’s campaign with the slogan “Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai” (We are safe if we are united). This rallying cry accused Congress of divisive politics targeting OBCs, SCs, and STs, urging voters to prioritize unity. Addressing a rally in Akola, PM Modi declared, “The Congress thrives on a weakened nation, but the people of Maharashtra have rejected their divisive agenda.” Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and a central figure in the campaign, echoed the sentiment after the alliance’s sweeping victory. “Ek hain toh safe hain, Modi hai toh mumkin hai (We are safe if united, and with Modi, everything is possible),” he stated, celebrating the decisive mandate. एक है तो ‘सेफ’ है !मोदी है तो मुमकिन हैं ! #Maharashtra #महाराष्ट्र — Devendra Fadnavis (@Dev_Fadnavis) November 23, 2024 Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath added fire to the campaign with the slogan “Batenge Toh Katenge” (Divided we fall), adapted from a similar line he first used in Agra. While its communal overtones sparked outrage from opposition leaders, BJP amplified it across rallies and campaign posters, framing it as a call for unity and resilience. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge fired back with “Daroge Toh Maroge” (If you fear, you will perish), aimed at the BJP’s rhetoric. Accusing the BJP of stoking fear and dismantling democracy, Kharge attacked both PM Modi and Yogi Adityanath. “Sadhus should unite humanity, not divide it,” he said, referencing Yogi’s campaign speeches. Congress used the slogan to rally voters around the theme of courage and resistance against perceived authoritarianism. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) entered the slogan battle with “Sajag Raho” (Be vigilant), emphasizing unity within the Hindu community and the need to bridge caste divisions. The RSS organized grassroots meetings to reinforce its message, aligning it with BJP’s broader campaign of national unity. Congress’s Lok Sabha campaign slogan “Khatakhat Khatakhat” made waves earlier this year but failed to gain traction in the assembly elections. Mahayuti leaders criticized Congress for sticking to outdated narratives, contrasting it with their dynamic slogans. As trends solidified Mahayuti’s dominance, celebrations erupted across Maharashtra. Firecrackers lit up the skies outside CM Eknath Shinde’s residence, while BJP supporters flooded the Mumbai office with sweets. Ajit Pawar, the Deputy CM, maintained a decisive lead in Baramati, symbolizing NCP’s consolidation within the alliance. Critics on Monday condemned far-right Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what one group called a "hateful and dangerous" campaign speech in which he claimed that Muslim "infiltrators" would steal Indians' wealth if the opposition wins parliamentary elections that began last week.
Speaking to supporters at a rally in the western state of Rajasthan on Sunday, Modi said that the manifesto of the opposition Indian National Congress (INC) party details how to calculate "the amount of gold that mothers and sisters have" so that it can be redistributed to Muslims.
"When they were in power, they said Muslims have first right over resources," the prime minister claimed out of context. "They will gather all your wealth and redistribute among those who have more children. They will distribute it among infiltrators. Do you think your hard-earned money should be given to infiltrators? Would you accept this?"
Members of Modi's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)—which does enjoy the support of a significant number of Indian Muslims—have often portrayed Muslims as outsiders. BJP officials have also pushed a baseless conspiracy narrative roughly analogous to U.S. white supremacists' "great replacement" theory, in this case positing that Muslim migrants and rapidly reproducing Indian Muslims will eventually outnumber Hindus—who make up around 80% of the country's 1.4 billion people.
Modi's remarks came a day after India's seven-step election of 543 members of the Lok Sabha, or lower legislative house, began. Modi is running for a third consecutive term. He's being challenged by INC President Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, the upper legislative house. Results will be announced on June 4.
Kharge responded to Modi's remarks by blasting the "panic-filled" address as "not only a hate speech but also a well-thought-out ploy to divert attention" by the prime minister, the BJP, and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)—a fascist-inspired political and paramilitary movement whose brand of Hindu supremacy heavily influenced the rise of the BJP.
"Lying for power, making baseless references to things, and making false accusations on opponents is the specialty of the training of RSS and BJP," Kharge said, adding that Indians "are no longer going to fall prey to this lie."

At Congress' "Black" Protest Over Rahul Gandhi, Trinamool's Surprise Entry
Trinamool sources said Prasun Banerjee and Jawhar Sircar will attend the meeting, scheduled for 10:30 am today.
Tumblr media
New Delhi: In a rare feat of Opposition unity, the Trinamool Congress, which said it will remain equidistant from the BJP and the Congress, today joined the big strategy meeting in the office of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. Prasun Banerjee and Jawhar Sircar represented TMC in the meeting, which discussed the Opposition strategy on Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from the Parliament. The party said the Opposition should be united, even though they are distancing themselves from a joint front on other issues.
Mr Kharge said that the Congress party welcomes anyone who strides forward to “protect democracy”.
“I thank everyone who supported this. That is why, I thanked everyone yesterday and I thank them today as well. We welcome anyone who comes forward to protect democracy and Constitution and safeguard the people. We extend heartfelt gratitude to the people who support us,” the Congress president said.
Congress MPs wore black shirts as a mark of protest over Mr Gandhi's disqualification. K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi, a rival of the Congress in Telangana, joined the “black shirt” protest along with Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray). After Rahul Gandhi's "not Savarkar" jibe at the BJP over its demand for an apology, Uddhav Thackeray had, on Sunday, warned him that demeaning Vinayak Savarkar would create “cracks” in the opposition alliance.
17 opposition parties -- INC, DMK, SP, JDU, BRS, CPM, RJD, NCP, CPI, IUML, MDMK, KC, TMC, RSP, AAP, J&K NC, and Shiv Sena (UBT) -- attended the meeting.
TMC shares an uneasy relationship with the Congress, which is part of the opposition, along with the Left, in Trinamool-governed West Bengal. The party had initially maintained a calculated silence on Rahul Gandhi's disqualification in a 2019 defamation case, even among widespread calls for a united opposition against the BJP's alleged targetting of opposition leaders. TMC has in the past avoided joining Opposition strategy meetings that Congress was part of.
TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has been a strong critic of the BJP, supported Rahul Gandhi.
“In PM Modi's New India, Opposition leaders have become the prime target of the BJP! While BJP leaders with criminal antecedents are inducted into the cabinet, Opposition leaders are disqualified for their speeches. Today, we have witnessed a new low for our constitutional democracy,” she had earlier said.
Ms Banerjee had earlier this month accused the Congress-Left combine of having an 'immoral alliance' with the BJP, and said that her party will not enter into any partnership with the two to fight for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Ms Banerjee claimed that the Congress, after having sought the “saffron camp's help”, should refrain from calling itself anti-BJP.
Congress has called Mr Gandhi's disqualification a “conspiracy” to silence Rahul Gandhi, who they say was making the PM and the BJP uncomfortable with sharp questions on the Adani-Hindenburg issue. Congress workers have been protesting across the country for the last two days. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge and top leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have accused the government of “trying to silence” a “martyr's son”.
Asserting that the action against Mr Gandhi was lawful, and initiated by an independent judiciary, the BJP accused the Congress of protesting against the Constitution and the courts.
The move drew the Opposition's ire, which called the swift action by the Lok Sabha secretariat a “dictatorial move” and decried the “murder of democracy”.
Meanwhile, 14 opposition parties have approached the Supreme Court, alleging the misuse of central investigating agencies by the government. The top court will hear the case on April 5.
52-year-old former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was convicted by a court in Gujarat, PM Modi's home state, and sentenced to two years in jail for a 2019 speech in which he linked PM Modi's last name with two fugitive businessmen, remarking how the “thieves” shared the same last name. The court also granted him bail and suspended the sentence for 30 days to allow him to appeal to a higher court.
Rahul Gandhi's team has said they will challenge the verdict in a higher court. If the order is not cancelled, Mr Gandhi will not be allowed to contest elections for the next eight years.

Parliament passes Bill restoring States’ right to maintain OBC lists
Tumblr media
Parliament on Wednesday passed a constitutional amendment aimed at restoring the rights of the States and the Union Territories to maintain their own list of socially and educationally backward classes (SEBCs), commonly known as Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2021 was passed unanimously by the Rajya Sabha, a day after the Lok Sabha passed it. In a break from its protests on the Pegasus issue and farm laws, the Opposition joined the discussion and supported the Bill. While the Bill received support from across party lines, at least 10 parties, including NDA’s Janata Dal (United), called for a caste-based census and 12 parties demanded the removal of the 50% cap on reservation.
Maratha reservation
On May 5, the Supreme Court held that the Maratha reservation granted by the Maharashtra government was unconstitutional and that the President alone was empowered to identify SEBCs. In his response to the discussion on the Bill, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar said the government understood the concerns over the 50% cap and that it should be revisited as it was decided 30 years ago.
From the Opposition, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi was the first speaker. He said the government was congratulating itself for correcting a mistake it made in 2018, referring to the 102 Constitutional Amendment that said the President, in consultation with the Governor, would notify SEBCs. The select committee had pointed out that the language of the Bill could be open to misinterpretation. This Bill was an empty promise since there was a cap of 50% on reservation and this cap couldn’t be changed till the caste census was done to reveal the actual numbers, he stated
“Why are you running away from a caste census? Your Chief Minister in Bihar, another Chief Minister in Odisha and your woman MP said you are going to do this. Why is the government keeping quiet today” he asked.
Plea for caste census
The Samajwadi Party’s Ramgopal Yadav forcefully argued for a caste census. He said there was a speculation that the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh would delist Yadav, Gujarat and Kurmi from the backward list. The BJP government, he said, was not bringing in the caste census only so that it could amend the backward list as per its wishes. There was need to raise the 50% cap on reservation, he observed.
The RJD’s Manoj K Jha said the speech by BJP’s lead speaker in the Lok Sabha Sanghamitra Maurya was no “Freudian slip”. “Every person who thinks for the welfare of the backward classes will make this demand,” he noted. The entire Bihar Assembly, he stressed, had sought time from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to urge him to bring caste census. “It is essential to know who are the ones who are forced to come to the cities looking for minor jobs? Who are the people who have to lift mud to earn a living.”
The TMC’s Derek O’Brien said the Bill was a result of incompetence of the government. “This government is not in the habit of listening to anyone. When legislation on GST was brought in, the Opposition had warned against the possible problems in its implementation. He added, “376 changes were made in GST!”
Shiv Sena member Sanjay Raut welcomed the Bill, but said it was incomplete, as the issue of 50% cap on reservation was not addressed.
The CPI’s Binoy Viswam said he supported the Bill, but opposed the “government’s politics”.
Former Prime Minister and JD(S) member H.D. Deve Gowda welcomed the Bill. He asked the government to see that reservation for women, which he had moved in his tenure, was provided.
Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge also appreciated the Bill, but said it was unfortunate that the discussion in the House had been less about the Bill and more about “what Modiji did and what Nehruji did”, referring to attacks on the Congress by the treasury benches. “You must remove the 50% cap if you want to implement this. Just add one sentence that the States can give reservation over 50%. That will solve the problems,” he added.

Most unemployment surveys are skewed, PM Narendra Modi tells House
Tumblr media
Economy & Policy:
In what is likely to be his last speech in the Lok Sabha’s current term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday responded to the recent criticism his government has faced for its purported failure to create jobs.
In his reply to the motion of thanks to the President’s address, Modi contrasted 55 years of “self-serving” Congress rule at the Centre versus the achievements of his government’s 55 months in the “service of the people”. Alluding to the grand alliance of the Opposition parties,
Modi said the people of the country did not want a mahamilawat (greatly adulterated) government.
The PM, referring to Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s speech, said for many BC stood for ‘before Congress’ and AD for ‘after dynasty’. He said his efforts at a ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’ were an offering to Mahatma Gandhi in his 150th birth anniversary year — a reference to Gandhi’s wish that the Congress should be disbanded since it had achieved its goal of attaining independence from the British.
Modi said his government had provided a clean government and expressed confidence that the people of the country would again repose their faith in his leadership.
Earlier, Kharge cited reports of a National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) survey (which the government later termed a draft report) that said the unemployment rate was 6.1 per cent in 2017-18, the highest in 45 years, to attack the government. Modi termed most surveys that try to capture unemployment rate as skewed since these did not cover the unorganised sector, which accounts for 85-90 per cent of jobs.

Bha Ja Paaji - Nation Information
http://tinyurl.com/yyhvw3f6 The BJP heaved a sigh of aid when former Bollywood motion hero Sunny Deol lastly joined the occasion on April 23 and agreed to contest the Gurdaspur seat. The occasion’s total Plan B for Punjab-B as in Bollywood – rested on Deol. BJP president Amit Shah has had no luck to this point in attracting stars to the state. Akshay Kumar was briefly thought-about till the occasion found he was additionally a Canadian nationwide. Akshaye Khanna declined to contest from his late father Vinod Khanna’s seat Gurdaspur. Even Sunny took some months to make up his thoughts. BJP veterans, who recall the robust time they’d getting father Dharmendra to contest the 2004 Lok Sabha election from Bikaner, are usually not shocked. Wrath of Kharge Chief of the Congress within the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun M. Kharge, is reportedly furious. His supporters say it’s as a result of his occasion failed to stop sitting Congress MLA from Chincholi, Umesh Jadhav, from quitting to affix the BJP. The BJP has now fielded Jadhav in opposition to Kharge within the Gulbarga Lok Sabha constituency. Kharge sees a higher conspiracy as a result of he feels the BJP finds him a troublesome opponent in Parliament. The divided Congress in Karnataka doesn’t have a convincing reply. MISSILE STRIKE Two key proposals to import missiles for the Indian military have been stalled by a senior bureaucrat within the ministry of defence. The military needed restricted portions of Igla-S shoulder-launched air defence missiles from Russia and Spike anti-tank missiles from Israel purchased below the particular monetary powers, which permits the vice-chief of military workers to purchase gear price as much as Rs 300 crore. The senior bureaucrat has refused to log out. He has cited an inquiry within the case of the anti-aircraft missile and the truth that the anti-tank missile didn’t go trials in an earlier acquisition contest. With only a month left for retirement, the babu doesn’t need any skeletons in his closet. PAWAR PLAY Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t maintain a public assembly in Baramati, the constituency of NCP’s Supriya Sule, despite requests from the BJP’s Maharashtra unit. It was occasion chief Amit Shah who campaigned for his or her candidate, Kanchan Kul. The grapevine has it that Modi, by staying away from the Sharad Pawar bastion, is protecting a window open in case the NDA falls wanting a majority. If the NCP will get into double digits, the BJP might count on its exterior help because it did after the Maharashtra meeting election in 2014. The Affiliation for Democratic Reforms (ADR), which retains meticulous information of the backgrounds of election candidates, has launched its evaluation of candidates within the fray within the first three phases The Individuals We Elect Section III of this lengthy basic election started on April 23, with 115 seats up for grabs within the states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, West Bengal and Kerala, amongst others. The Affiliation for Democratic Reforms (ADR), which retains meticulous information of the backgrounds of election candidates, has launched its evaluation of candidates within the fray within the first three phases. For a lot of, this election will not be merely a vote on the efficiency of the Modi authorities but additionally a kind of referendum on competing concepts of India. The ADR, nonetheless, would have voters look previous nationwide narratives’ on the information of candidates within the constituencies the place they vote. And given authorized but opaque devices of ballot funding equivalent to electoral bonds, a scrutiny of the necessary declaration by candidates stays one of many few checks voters can run. PULL QUOTE OF HATE SPEECH AND BAN ORDERS After appreciable criticism, together with from the Supreme Courtroom, for its tolerance, the Election Fee has bared its enamel. Those that have obtained non permanent bans in latest days embrace BSP president Mayawati, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Samajwadi Social gathering chief Azam Khan and present Union minister for girls and baby improvement Maneka Gandhi. The bans served vary from 48 to 72 hours. However the EC is preventing a battle it has already misplaced. Now the BJP is accusing Navjot Singh Sidhu of asking Muslims in a Bihar constituency to vote as a block, the identical crime’ for which Mayawati is doing her penance. Who subsequent after Sidhu? I attraction to all of the members of the Muslim group, don’t break up and waste your votes. Congress will not be robust sufficient to offer a battle to the BJP. Solely our grand alliance can do it Talking in Deoband, at a joint BSP-SP-RLD rally, former UP chief minister Mayawati gave the impression to be arguing that Muslim voters could be betraying their group in the event that they selected to not vote for her alliance It took you 17 years to determine her actual face, however I received to know in 17 days that she wears khaki underpants Azam Khan’s animus in opposition to former protege Jaya Prada manifests itself in vulgar, sexist remarks. As the previous actor identified, Khan referred dismissively to her in 2018 as a naachne wali Mayawati urges Muslims… to not break up their votes. Now Hindus don’t have any selection however to vote for the BJP If the Congress, SP and BSP think about Ali, then we’ve got our personal religion in Bajrang Bali Yogi Aditya¬nath appears decided to defy the mannequin code of conduct in as some ways as doable. He additionally stated that, just like the Congress, the SP-BSP alliance had caught the inexperienced virus You might be in a 64% majority right here… in the event you get united… and vote collectively, Modi will likely be defeated. You’ll hit a six. Hit such a sixer that Modi lands exterior the boundary Talking in Katihar, Bihar, Navjot Singh Sidhu has been banned from campaigning for 72 hours for making communal’ remarks. In the meantime, somebody like Giriraj Singh is freely capable of name for a ban on inexperienced flags …fir dil khatta ho jata hai …we segregate villages as A, B, C and D. A village the place we get 80 per cent votes is A, the place we get 60 per cent is B… improvement work first occurs in A-category villages Maneka Gandhi has threatened that her willingness to work in her constituency was contingent upon who voted for her We carried out the surgical strike… Some individuals ask… what’s the proof that they even occurred… we must always have connected a bomb to Rahul Gandhi and despatched him to a different nation. Then they’d have understood Pankaja Munde, daughter of the late Union minister Gopinath Munde and niece of late BJP chief Pramod Mahajan, could also be a minister within the Maharashtra authorities, however is growing a popularity for reckless feedback. Narendra Modi’s greatest triumph | Kashmir Reader
BJP wins overwhelmingly bulk in Parliament, additional than 50% preferred vote
New Delhi: Key Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday wheeled Bharatiya Janata Bash to a landslide victory for a next phrase in office, as his concept of nationalism and Hindu delight was overwhelmingly embraced by folks across India.
The partial vote depend produced by the Election Commission confirmed that BJP will not only surpass its 2014 effectiveness but also cross the 300-seat mark in the 543-member Lok Sabha. These kinds of was the force of the BJP wave that even Congress president Rahul Gandhi missing in his bastion of Amethi to Smriti Irani, but in consolation received the Wayanad seat in Kerala. The euphoria of the victory was capped by a sombre speech by Modi in which he promised to commit “every moment of my everyday living and each fibre of my body” to the welfare of the country. He also vowed that he will never do everything with sick-intention, nor will he do anything to enrich himself. “Whenever you choose me, choose me on these a few parameters. If I drop small on these, curse me. But I assure my countrymen that what I have reported in community I will do my most effective to fulfil,” he reported. Putting a conciliatory political tone, he also reached out to his rivals, urging everyone to set the rancour of the bitter and frequently awful campaign guiding them. What’s earlier is previous, he said. “We have to move forward. We have to consider anyone with us, even our opponents. We have to perform for the advantage of the region,” he explained. “You have loaded this fakir’s bag with a great deal of hope. All your hopes, goals, ambitions are dependent on it,” he said. Right until 9pm, the BJP had won 115 seats and was top in 188 of the 542 Lok Sabha seats that went to polls in seven phases in April and May. This has set it on training course to possible profitable 303 seats, greater than the 282 it won in 2014. With the help of allies in the National Democratic Alliance, the coalition could have some 344 seats. The victory margin still left the merged opposition in the dust, with the Congress stuck at 27 verified victories and a lead in 24 seats. Modi very easily gained his seat in Varanasi with a margin of over 4.5 lakh votes while occasion president Amit Shah took Gandhinagar in Gujarat by over 5.5 lakh votes. Modi and Shah arrived at the occasion headquarters in New Delhi to a rapturous welcome by supporters. Modi waved victory indicators with both of those arms in the air as rose petals were being showered on the duo. He then proceeded to garland the statues of BJP idealogue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Minutes afterwards, a gigantic garland in BJP colours of saffron and green was held all over Modi by other dignitaries. In nearly all the states wherever BJP received, its vote share was far more than 50 percent. The benefits have elevated thoughts about Rahul Gandhi’s management and his party’s foreseeable future. At a press convention, Gandhi refused to deal with that difficulty, expressing the occasion will hold a assembly on Friday to talk about the potential. “The folks of India have made the decision that Narendra Modi will be the PM yet again and I absolutely respect it,” Gandhi informed reporters. He also congratulated Modi and BJP. The benefits had been a ringing endorsement of Modi’s reputation, his government’s achievements in the past 5 a long time and his campaign, which centred close to countrywide stability following the Balakot air strikes, nationalism and Hindutva. He also relentlessly attacked the Congress for what he referred to as its dynastic legacy, and blamed it for the country’s woes, which includes endemic corruption. The opposition experienced criticised the BJP marketing campaign as divisive and polarising. However, the results show that the Modi wave and the party’s outstanding election administration swept throughout geographies, caste strains, age, gender and financial standing. In the politically significant condition of Uttar Pradesh, wherever the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Social gathering mix experienced posed a rigid challenge, the BJP is envisioned to win 62 of the 80 seats at stake. Even though the BJP had gained 71 seats in the past elections, the general performance is significantly far better than the 30-40 seats several exit polls had forecast. The BJP point out headquarters in Lucknow was drenched in saffron hue with jubilant celebration staff carrying saffron stoles, adorning ‘genda’ bouquets around their necks and keeping lotus slice-outs. They also burst crackers and danced to drum beats as girls supporters wore saffron attire and painted their nails in the identical hue. In stark contrast, Congress, BSP and SP offices wore a forlorn look. Under the scorching solar, even store proprietors marketing campaign product outside the house the SP office environment sat in shocked silence as those people collected all-around the tea kiosks talked in hushed tones. The Modi wave not only swept through the Hindi heartland and Gujarat, as was predicted, but also bulldozed by means of West Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Only Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh appeared untouched. Even in Telangana, exactly where it was expected to fare improperly, the BJP is expected to win 4 seats, whilst the Telangana Rashtra Samiti will get 9. However, Andhra Pradesh threw up a shock in the Assembly polls, which have been held simultaneously, voting out of electrical power the Telugu Desam Party of Chandrababu Naidu and electing Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress. Just after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, Modi is the third prime minister of the region – and the to start with non-Congress a single – who has been ready to keep electric power for a next term with full bulk in Lok Sabha. The benefits have been staggering for BJP in the Hindi-talking states, including these in which Congress had gained in the modern Assembly elections: it swept all but one particular of the 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 24 out of 25 in Rajasthan, and nine out of 11 in Chhattisgarh. Similar was the story in Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Delhi and notably Karnataka, in which it is expected to win 25 out of 28 seats. Among the major-identify casualties were Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge who missing his Kalburgi seat in Karnataka and Jyotiraditya Scindia in Madhya Pradesh. The Congress received not a one seat in 13 states. The BJP also manufactured large gains in Odisha, West Bengal and Telangana In Odisha, the BJP was in advance in 8 of the 21 seats, up from a person very last time. In West Bengal, it was envisioned to get 18 seats, up from two in 2014, all at the price of the Left. In Telangana, it was set to earn four. Congress ally DMK was ahead in 20 seats in Tamil Nadu while in Kerala, the Congress-led UDF was forward in 19 out of 20 seats. The voting was staggered involving April 11 and Could 19 in which about 67 for each cent of the practically 900 million eligible folks exercised their franchise to elect 542 associates of the Lok Sabha from a full of 8,049 contestants. Out of the 543 Lok Sabha seats, elections were being held in 542 constituencies as the EC had cancelled polls to the Vellore constituency on the ground of excessive use of dollars electricity. PTI
