Cedar waxwing - Blucher Park, South Tancahua Street, Corpus Christi, Texas, USA
Joshua J. Cotten
Scientific name: Bombycilla cedrorum
Conservation status: Least Concern (Population increasing)
Mass: 1.1 oz
Family: Bombycillidae
Size: six to eight inches
Class: Aves
Domain: Eukaryota
The cedar waxwing is a member of the family Bombycillidae or waxwing family of passerine birds. It is a medium-sized, mostly brown, gray, and yellow. Some of the wing feathers have red tips, the resemblance of which to sealing wax gives these birds their common name.
Cedar waxwing's can be found in open woodlands, fruiting trees, orchards; in winter, widespread, including towns. Breeding habitat is influenced by availability of fruiting trees and shrubs, often most common in "edge" situations, as along forest edges, streamsides, overgrown fields, edges of swamps, suburban yards.

Israel has cut water, electricity and food to Palestinians in Gaza. They are buying 10.000 M16 rifles and plan to distribute to civilian settlers in the West Bank to hunt down Palestinians. They're bombing the only way out of Gaza through Egypt, after telling refugees to flee through it, and have threatened the Egyptian government in case they let aid trucks pass through. Entire families, generations, are being wiped out and left to wander the streets hoping they don't get bombed.
Palestinians are using their last minutes of battery to let the world know about their genocide and are being met with a wall of "What about Hamas? What about the beheaded babies? Killing children on either side is bad!" even though the propaganda claims have been debunked over and over again. How cruel is it to ask somebody to condemn themselves before their last words? Or before grieving the loss of their entire families? When there's no such disclaimer to Israelis even though their government has shown over and over genocidal intent? Like who are you even trying to appease? What will your wishy washy statement do against decades of zionist thought infiltrating evangelical and Jewish stablishmemts?
Take action. Israel will fall back if public opinion turns its tide. The UK fell back on its bloody decision to cut aid to Palestine under public scrutiny. The USAmerican empire spends $3.8 billion dollars annually solely on this proxy war while its people suffer under a progressively military regime as well. News outlets are canceling last minute on Palestinian speakers while letting Israelis tell lies unchecked. Palestinian refugees are being targeted in ICE establishments and mosques are already being hounded by the FBI. France and Germany have banned pro-Palestine protests, while Netherlands and the UK have placed restrictions . You have the chance to stop this from turning into repeat of the Iraq war.
I want to do something but there's hardly anything for me to do from Brasil besides spreading the word and not letting these testimonies fall on deaf ears. I'm asking you to do this same ant work from wherever you are.

Good morning Amity Park, I'm your ghostly weatherman, Lance Thunder. Today's Wednesday, August 28, and there’s a 20% chance of rain. Highs are in the low eighties, and the lows are in the low seventies.
Several middle school students in South Middle School antagonized the normally harmless school ghost yesterday, leading to serious injury of a teacher.
This ghost, usually known by those in the school as “the ghost” had never shown any previous malevolence. After being taunted by several children yesterday though, it attempted to attack them. Mr. Kilmer, a teacher at the school was able to arrive on the scene in time to put himself between the ghosts and the students, leading to his femur being broken.
All elementary and middle school students will be receiving ghosts safety lessons in school from now on.
Orchard Ave from Newman Rd to Oak St has been completely demolished in a ghost attack last night. The attack itself was not observed, and the damage does not take priority in construction, since many potholes and small craters still need to be repaired in higher populated areas.
The Fentons will likely be driving today, but not between now and 3:40.

The Stranger [Bradley Bradshaw x OC]
Summary: Bradley Bradshaw left an impression — after finding him naked and passed out after a night of drinking in your front yard, he’s anxious to never see you again in his life and relive the embarrassment. But there’s something about him you just can’t let go. He’s a project, and you hate to admit you love a fixer upper. Bradley is hesitant to let you in, but you’re persistent. Is he making a massive mistake?
Pairing: Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw x OC
A/N: This is a sneak peek of an unfinished WIP!
You were pouring your morning coffee, Cracker Barrel mug in one hand and coffee pot in the other, when you spotted him through the edge of the front window.
The sun was just beginning to rise, peeling back the darkness from the night before, and you spotted what could only be an arm flung across the green grass of your front lawn.
Stepping out onto the deck, you squinted. The grass was wet from the rain shower that had hit in the early morning and the street was eerily quiet. You looked around. There were no cars parked nearby.
And yet, somehow there was a fully nude man lying face down on your lawn.
You put the cup of coffee down gently, slid off your slippers and tiptoed tentatively down the path and onto the grass, bending down to see if you were about to call the cops with a homicide investigation. And then you watched his chest rise with a breath and you sighed out, hand on your heart.
“Thank God,” you muttered. You stood back up and took him in. He was tall, or long considering he was just laying there in the grass. Curled brown hair, tanned and incredibly muscular arms, back and legs. And a nice fucking ass if you did say so. Leaning back down, you tapped his shoulder. “Um, hi?”
The man groaned but remained on his stomach so you circled your fingers around his upper arm and shook harder.
“Hello? Excuse me.”
“Shit,” the guy groaned, rolling over and flopping onto his back, giving you a clear view of his package. Your eyes went wide, but you couldn’t tear yourself away. He also had a perfect six pack, but you were staring a bit south of the border. He rubbed his eyes and finally looked up at you. “Who are you?”
“I’m Caroline,” you said, crossing your arms. “And you’re naked, by the way.”
“Fuck,” he said, scrambling to cover himself and then wincing in pain, one hand coming up to his head.
You shook your head and sighed, uncrossing your arms and shrugging off your blue robe. “Here, put this on.”
He stood and accepted it, tying it around his waist but it was tight. “Thanks.”
“Come inside,” you said, turning on a heel and heading back toward the walk. “You can take a shower if you want. Call someone to come get you.”
He followed you, head hung. “Where am I?”
You grabbed the coffee mug you had deserted on the steps and opened the door. “You’re on Miguel Ave. A few blocks from the golf course.”
He nodded and stepped inside. You pointed up the stairs. “Take a left at the top of the stairs. Guest bath is the third door on the right. There should be towels and a bigger robe if you need it.”
He stepped onto the stairs and then turned around, giving you a quizzical look. “Why are you being so nice to me? I’m a stranger. I’m a naked stranger.”
You laughed. “You think I haven’t seen my fair share of drunk idiots? I went to Tulane. I knew what happened to you the minute I saw you.”
He simply nodded and ascended the stairs. You chuckled and walked into the kitchen.
Twenty minutes later, there were cautious footsteps in the hallway beyond the kitchen and you turned around to see the guy from the lawn wearing your ex’s old flannel robe, his dark hair damp but clean. He had a mustache and a uniquely handsome face. You wouldn’t have immediately called him attractive if it wasn’t for how he carried himself. Even hungover and wearing a bathrobe in a stranger’s home, he had a charisma you could sense through his walk alone.
“Take a seat,” you said, motioning to the dining table and he nodded, sitting down. You slid a cup of water and a cup of juice over, and then a mug of coffee and a plate of bacon. “Do you eat meat?”
He chuckled and grabbed a slice. “Definitely.”
“Good,” you said, returning to the stove and pulling off the pan of eggs, dropping some scrambled eggs into a dish and walking over to the table, taking the seat at the end and pushing one bowl of eggs over to him. “So, remember anything yet?”
He lifted a forkful of eggs to his mouth, chewed thoughtfully. “Bits and pieces. I want to say it involved a dare and a bottle of Jack Daniels.”
You laughed and took a sip of coffee. “God, how old are you?”
He smiled and you realized just how attractive of a smile it was. “I’m Bradley,” he said.
You nodded.
“Aren’t you going to tell me your name?” he asked.
“I told you outside?”
He shook his head. “Fuck, sorry.”
“Caroline,” you offered and he smiled.
“Caroline,” he repeated. “Nice name.”
You leaned back in the chair. “Do you need to borrow my phone?” He nodded and you unlocked your phone, sliding it across. You didn’t even realize until he stared at the home screen for a moment that it was still a picture of your ex and his dog.
“Boyfriend?” he asked, lifting the phone into his large hands and scrolling for the dial pad.
You shook your head. “Not anymore. I keep forgetting to change it.”
He nodded carefully and hit a few buttons, bringing the phone up to his ear. “Bob, hey, it’s Rooster. Listen, I uh, I need a ride. Yeah, one second.” He pulled the phone away. “What’s your address?”
“4502 Miguel Ave.”
He repeated the address into the phone. “Oh, and bring me some clothes, please.” You heard laughing on the other end of the line before he hung up. He slid the phone back to you. “Thanks. He should be here in fifteen minutes.”
“So which is it?”
He squinted at you.
“You introduced yourself to me as Bradley, but whoever Bob is, and he has a great laugh by the way, apparently knows you as Rooster.” You slid your eyes over him. “Are you a stripper?”
“What?” he asked aghast and you laughed, taking a sip of coffee.
“Cool if you are, no judgment here.”
He shook his head, biting off another piece of bacon. “I’m a pilot. It’s a callsign. A sort of nickname.”
“Pilot, huh?”

Reverend Guilford Larimer Speaking about Burnside School
Record Group 21: Records of District Courts of the United StatesSeries: Civil Case FilesFile Unit: Anthony P. Burroughs, et al. v. Benjamin Willis, et al. v. the Board of Education of the City of Chicago and Benjamin C. Willis
December 16, 1959
Rev. Guilford Larimer--Representing Chesterfield Community Council--
Speaking about Burnside School, 91st Place and Langley Ave.
I speak this morning representing the Chesterfield Community Council
and its concern with the overcrowded conditions at Ambrose Burnside School.
Perhaps the most direct method would be to list the conditions at the
school and then present for your consideration what we think will help rem-
edy these conditions on two levels, the long run and the immediate future.
Simply stated, the problem is this: there are far too many children for
the facilities of the school. Here are the facts:
1) The ratio of pupils to teachers is 40.9-1
2) Perhaps an even more importation ratio is that of pupils to actual class
rooms. This is 45-1
3) I say actual class-rooms because there are classes meeting
a)on the stage of the auditorium
b)in the teachers' lounge
c) in the teachers' cafeteria
d) in the library.
It is an understatement to say that adequate teaching cannot be done under
these circumstances.
4) In the last five yearsthe enrollment at Burnside has had a net gain
of about 500, bringing it over the 1600 mark at the present time. And the
future promises no relief from this pressure. Due to the change in the racial
character of the neighborhood, which has seen families with young children
replacing many middle-aged and older folks whose children are now grown, and
due to the extensive building in the area between South Park and Indiana Ave.
and 87th and 95th Sts., all of which is in the Burnside district, there is
every reason to believe that the load on the school will continue to increase.
Here then is the problem. In view of the plans for building indicated
in the tentative budget for 1960, and keeping in mind an already pressing
situation, we offer the following for your consideration:
1) For future needs, not only of Burnside School, but of the larger
area bounded by 87th, 95th, State, and the Illinois Central tracks, we strong-
ly recommend the building of a full 8 grade school on the McDade site at 88th
and Indiana. We submit that a minimum figure of $600,000 rather than $300,000
is more in keeping with both the present and the future need in that area.
We feel that the present plans which would culminate in the building of a
school accomodating approximately 250 pupils would be an unrealistic approach
in view of the fact that there are already 537 children now attending Burn-
side who live in the area bounded by 87th, 95th, South Park and Indiana.
2) Along with the building of McDade we then would recommend re-district-
ing, moving the western boundary of the Burnside district to South Park Ave.
3) For Burnside's immediate needs we request the following alternatives
as providing a measure of temporary relief--
a) Build "portables" on the Burnside grounds
b) Consider the use of the facilites of Tuley Park for some class-
es. This park is in the block diagonally adjoining the school property.
c) Consider the use of the facilities of Vincent Methodist Church
for class-rooms. The church is immediately across the street from the school.
There are, no doubt, many factors to be considered in these remarks,
not the least of which is the availability of money for building. We do not
presume to be experts in this field. But we do justly claim a great concern
that the children of our neighborhood have the best education possible.
Under the present circumstances at Burnside, we know that this educational
process is severely hampered.

Robert Frank on Ocean Boulevard
The late afternoon light, palm trees, their shadows and a covered car are elements so classic to LA and Southern California that Robert Frank's "Covered car -- Long Beach, California" could have been taken anywhere from San Diego to Santa Barbara.
I’ve been living in Long Beach for a handful of years and the photograph lives in my head rent free, in a good way, considering how much the prints can hammer for. I was out doing errands recently, stuck behind a delivery truck on Ximeno Ave, saw a covered car next to a palm tree for the 100th time and decided to find out where this was. The actual location is not obvious, Long Beach isn't a small city, without a street sign or house number, you can spend a lot of hours on Google maps.
In 1955 Frank was awarded a Guggenheim grant to document America through a road trip. He drove 10,000 miles, took 767 rolls off film, made 1,000 work prints from those selections. And edited those down to the 83 photographs of "The Americans," which became one of most influential photo books of the 20th century. (A signed, first edition can sell for $10-25,000.)
In the final edit of "The Americans," Frank pairs the covered car in a devastating way with a covered body ("Car accident—U.S. 66, between Winslow and Flagstaff, Arizona") on the following page. The sequence is a classic example of the art of photography in book form.
work print for "Covered car -- Long Beach, California" with related contact sheet number in red pencil
A big 2009 exhibit about "The Americans" displayed many of Frank's work prints, contact sheets, along with prints for every page in “The Americans.” The exhaustively researched catalog included each contact sheet for those 83 final prints. The Frank archive is at the National Gallery of Art and they have over 600 contact sheets from the project online. In the contact sheets, you can see frames Frank shot before and after the frame that ended up in the book. The Long Beach visit occurs in contact sheets 537-540.
10 Frames from Contact Sheet 537 related to Ocean Blvd, Long Beach
Contact sheet 537 has the sequence with “Covered Car -- Long Beach.” It combines two different rolls of film, ten frames are from Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach (made famous by LBC’s 2023 poet laureate, Lana del Rey). The other twenty frames are from a roll of film shot at a recreation center or school auditorium, of a marionette show for children.
Robert Frank, frame 5 on contact sheet 537, facing south, 13th Place, Long Beach
Seven of the ten frames feature the covered car. Frame 1 is missing, possibly a throwaway while loading film. In the first five frames, Frank shoots the covered car at the end of the street, you can tell he's interested in the scene. He could have parked his car and got out, or shot these frames from his car window. The photos show a dead end, leading to … white sky. Living here, I immediately had an idea of where this might be.
On the west side of Long Beach along the bluff overlooking the beach, there's a series of half block streets named "place" that jut south from Ocean Boulevard. Each dead-ends at the bluff, allowing beach access and real estate with water views. Some still have the “end” signs you can see in Frank’s frames. So, which one was it? In 68 years the bluff has experienced a lot of development, large towers built, original Craftsman-era homes torn down.
The details help identify the location: low slung garages (frames 2-6), the space carved out in the sidewalk for the palms, the glimpse of a two story building in the frame (frame 7), with a vent in a particular location. When you overexpose the MOMA jpeg, you can see a number: 20.
(left) 13th Place, Long Beach 1956, (right) December, 2024
Frank’s covered car was located at 20 13th Place. The garages there still have the number 20, though some have been rebuilt. The two-story building, built 1917, still has the vent in the same location. Interestingly, after taking five shots of the dead end, he only takes one frame of the covered car framed by the palm trees.
The next frames were taken further down Ocean Boulevard, about a half mile. A man, woman and child walk towards Frank, while on the right side of the frame the beach is visible. A woman is on a bench facing the beach.
Robert Frank contact sheet 537: Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, (left) facing east, (right) facing north
He stops and takes a portrait of her. She’s near the corner of Ocean and Lindero - a house and bus stop are visible in the background, that (infrequently arriving) bus stop is still in that location. The angle of the shadows from the palms indicates very late afternoon.
(left): Woman seated on bench--Los Angeles [sic], 1956, (right) Ocean & Lindero, 2024
In between “Covered Car” and “Woman seated on a Bench” is the Municipal Art Center (now called Long Beach Museum of Art). If Frank had stopped there, the 1955 Long Beach Juried Art Show was up, a show of mostly local painters. The museum was housed in a distinctive historic mansion on the bluff that would have been impossible for Frank to miss on foot or even if he had driven the half mile.
Robert Frank contact sheet 537: the marionette show
The remaining question about contact sheet 537 is: where is the location of the marionette show? There's a park one block north of Ocean Boulevard that had a recreation center with a stage. It's possible Frank skipped the art museum for the rec center.
Besides identifying the location of the covered car, the other question I had: What was Robert Frank doing in Long Beach? He didn’t just drive down to look for cars and palm trees. The other contact sheets (538-540) and work prints answer this. In a follow-up post we'll look at the rest of Frank's day in Long Beach and give it an exact date.
Related to the topic of locating places and people in "The Americans":
"Robert Frank Goes to Bunker Hill" - a 2021 investigation to find the location of Frank's photo of a building on Bunker Hill, downtown Los Angeles. Deliciously deep dive that involves building permits for the neon sign in the photo and a tour of Bunker Hill via the contact sheet.
In Search of the Places in Robert Frank's "The Americans" - Nicholas Dawidoff, 2022, locates a handful of photos
"Elevators, Americans, Missed Connections" at the SFMOMA version of the 2009 exhibit, a woman (the elevator operator) recognized herself in one of the photos!
Alamo Square, San Francisco - my 2008 photo of the spot Frank's portrait of the couple was taken (he said this was his favorite photo in the book). He was probably using a wider 28 or 35mm lens to take the portrait.

What the Hell House. Hurry if you want this bargain 1925 fixer upper, b/c it's only been on the market for over 1,018 days. (It's the wavy house behind the SUV.) Located in South Ozone Park, New York, it has 3bds, 2ba, $235K.
Apparently, the listing shows better upside down.
And, then here's your side view.
What is this?
This is nice.
Terrible repair.
Nice upside down living room.
This looks like a sideways home office.
Upstairs landing.
Bath #1, both views.
Bedroom?
Hallway.
Second kitchen.
What even is this? Seriously, they could've turned these pictures around.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Guide
How to get All New Game+ Endings in One Playthrough
Note that the Endings themselves aren't spoiled save for the titles, but the locations of items, names, etc, are spoiled as this is a comprehensive guide. I tried this recently, and it worked, and it took me forever to make this list so i decided to post it lol– I hope it helps. <3
Comprehensive list to get All 4 item-based/ New Game + Endings in One Playthrough of Silent Hill 2 Remake
Beginning of Game
Graveyard
Crimson Ceremony (rebirth)- look for a lone grave on the shore in the northeastern corner of the graveyard. In front of the gravestone will be a book with a red cover
Witse Rd., after passing through tunnel
Key of Sorrow (Stillness) - a green car on Wiltse Rd. right after passing through the tunnel. Use the chainsaw to smash its back window and take the key from the back seat
Eastern Southvale
Pet Center by Big Jay's Diner–
Broken Key Part. (Dog) In Eastern South Vale, find the Pet Center next to Big Jay’s diner. The key part will be in the back storage room past the counter
The Jeweller's Store–
Blue Gem. (UFO) In Eastern South Vale, find The Jewellers store next to The Pet Center. Smash the left storefront window and grab a jewel from the display.
Saul St. Apartments
Examine Blue Gem in Eastern South Vale, next to a graffiti of an eye on the back of a vent on the roof of the Saul Street Apartments. (UFO)
Rosewater Park
Examine Blue gem in Rosewater Park, in the northeastern corner of the pier before you meet Maria. (UFO)
Western Southvale
Near Baldwin Mansion
White Chrism. (rebirth)Western South Vale, a bottle with a white liquid on a table near the front door to the Baldwin Mansion
(Note that talking to Maria at the gate to Baldwin Mansion will give points for Maria ending)
After Jack's Inn, Katz St.
Broken Key Part. (Dog) In Western South Vale, after you pass through Jacks Inn find a back yard gate with a dog bone symbol next to the first house on Katz Street. Proceed inside and collect the second key part inside the dog house. (Combine Key parts)
Hospital
Small Chest. (Bliss) In the gazebo of the Brookhaven Hospital Garden
Post-Hospital, pre-Historical Society
Pete's Bowl-O-Rama
Rusted Key (Bliss) In Pete's Bowl-O-Rama, there's a safe that becomes available during New Game+. The code for the safe is 1887, which you can learn from the memo by the corpse at the west end of Nathan Ave. Inside the safe, you will find the key to the box from the gazebo. DO NOT DRINK THE WHITE CLAUDIA YET.
Historical Society
Obsidian Goblet. (Rebirth) Silent Hill Historical Society, a black goblet in a wall niche in the main exhibition hall.
Lakeview Hotel, Fog (Normal) World
Examine Blue Gem immediately upon arriving at Lakeview hotel dock
NOTE: If you want to complete a normal ending, such as Maria, Leave, or Water, wait to pick up the item in Lost & Found until you create your Save JUST before entering Room 312 to watch the tape and complete instant endings: Dog, Bliss, UFO. Complete all objectives until you get to room 312, and then save before picking up the book in Lost & Found. Then complete all desired instant endings, reload, and pick up the book in Lost & Found, continuing as normal via watching the tape. Complete required objectives in the otherworld, and save before reaching the safe in the Manager's Office, after the cutscene with the fire room. Complete Rebirth by NOT collecting the Toluca Postcard in the safe, finishing the game to get the Rebirth ending, and then reloading the OTHERWORLD save, collecting the Toluca postcard in the Otherworld, and acquiring Stillness, for easiest route to finishing all endings in a single playthrough. If you want to finish a different ending, Reload your Room 312 Save and Complete the game as normal without picking up the book or postcard, and you will get whatever ending you collected the most points for.)
First Floor
Lost & Found:
To get Rebirth Ending:
“Lost Memories”. (Rebirth) book that is found on a shelf inside the Lost & Found room (replaces the Lost & Found Note that is here during a normal game). Collecting the four items for Rebirth and finishing the game WITHOUT collecting the 'Toluca Postcard' for Stillness will grant you the rebirth ending.
Third Floor
Dog Ending:
Observation Room (Next to Room 312)
Use the 'Dog' key on the Observation Room Door. This will immediately give you the 'Dog' ending.
Room 312
Bliss Ending:
Drink the White Claudia and watch the tape in room 312. This will immediately give you the 'Bliss' Ending
UFO ending:
Examine the Blue Gem in room 312. This will immediately give you the UFO ending.
Hotel Otherworld (After watching Tape in 312 normally)
Manager's Office (after the fire room cutscene) —
Toluca Postcard. (Stillness) There is a locked safe that requires both a key and a code in the corner of Manager’s Office in the Otherworld Hotel.
Use the Key of Sorrow for the key lock, and input the code 314 (right 3, left 1, right 4) for the combination lock. Inside you will find the Toluca Postcard.
Complete the game with the Toluca Postcard to get the Stillness ending. NOTE: Doing so will cancel out getting the rebirth ending, even if you acquire all rebirth items, so SAVE before collecting the Toluca postcard for getting either ending easily via reload.
hope this helps someone lol
