I've had three major operations in my life. And a few minor ones.
I never really go into personal things here on tumblr but I'm making an exception.
1) abdominal surgery to fit a peritoneal dialysis tube when I was 17 in 2005 so I could do dialysis at hone when i was diagnosed with end stage renal failure.
2) Kidney transplant in 2006, donated by my brother to me. At the same time, they also removed the dialysis tube.
3) Removal of parathyroid glands in my neck, which if it had gone wrong, I could have lost my voice. Thankfully, it didn't!

Please help Sami and his family
Hello. By now, we all have a good idea how hard it is to obtain basic and medical needs in Gaza, both due to the prices and to the availability. @mohammedalkhliliy1 and his family have been trying to raise funds since August. So far, they have only raised 6% of their goal (€1,805 out of €30,000).
Verification: GazaVetters #21, by Ahmed (90-ghost)
The Alkhaliliy family are originally from north Gaza, consisting of Sami, his wife, their three children (Jud, Lin, and Misk), his four siblings (Hamza, Bilal, Muhammad, and Layan), and his mother, who has chronic thyroid and parathyroid disease.
They have since been displaced to the south and living in a tent. Sami's mother also needs surgery, but cannot access adequate care due to the shortage of medical resources. More details are in this post and in the GFM page.
Please support Sami and his family.

Persephone’s thyroid tumor removal went well!! And doc actually was able to save her parathyroid, which is very exciting. He didn’t think he’d end up able to, which is why he had initially recommended a specialist. Because he was able to save her parathyroid we should be able to remove her other thyroid tumor eventually.

My pth and calcium are both on the high normal side.
That's
Not good.
Bad, even.
For those who haven't been following me long, PTH and calcium should always be opposite. If they're not, there's basically only one thing that causes that and its tumors called adenomas on the parathyroid glands. Like the 2 I got removed in 2021.
That could mean that my parathyroid surgery didn't remove all the adenomas or that more tumors have since grown. Which could require a second surgery. Which would be far more complicated, expensive, and possibly dangerous than the first and many surgeons straight up won't perform it. Not to mention I don't have the money for it.
I'm not going to catastrophize until I've talked to my surgeon about it. But it would explain why my symptom improvements platued then started to drift backwards.
Deeply worrying.

They called with Maeve’a blood test results. Her calcium was higher this time. So she is going back to the vet on the 23rd for an in-depth blood panel. To check her parathyroid and see if that is the cause, if it is she will probably need surgery to remove it. If not it means starting cancer testing with xrays, an ultrasound and possibly a bone marrow biopsy.
So you know I’m currently bawling my eyes out even thinking of any of that.
#really though I can’t stop crying thinking of anything being wrong with her#she’s only 4 years old I can’t even think of not having her in our lives for years to come

God, making posts like this is not easy. But here goes nothing.
First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read this. Very recently, I was dealt two medical setbacks within the same week. Posting this is extremely difficult and violates every single safe feeling in my body when it comes to asking for help, but I’ve also reached an impasse where I don’t have any other choice but to reach out to my community and be vulnerable.
I am attempting to raise approximately $4,400 to address the following medical needs
1. Time sensitive dental care
To resolve advanced, time sensitive tooth decay, including fillings and crowns.
I am currently utilizing CareCredit to cover the upfront out-of-pocket costs of dental care.
I am resolving these issues to be eligible for surgery ASAP, per the advisement of my care team (see details below)
Estimated cost of this care is approx $2,200 post-deductible; I have paid for approx $1,500 of the treatments at this time via CareCredit (receipts posted below)
2. Parathyroidectomy (surgery)
I was recently diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). First-line treatment for PHPT is surgical intervention (parathyroidectomy).
Estimated cost of this surgery is approx $2,200 post-deductible. These are based on estimates via UHC for the in-network team I’ve selected.
With PHPT, I experience chronic pain of the joints, muscles, and bones, as well as additional side effects such as extreme fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, constipation, and nausea.
For those familiar with PHPT, I have PTH levels of 185pg/mL (normal 10-65pg/mL), calcium levels of 11mg/dL (normal 8.5-10.5 mg/dL), and a left adenoma roughly the size of a bean, per my 4DCT scans (for context, a normal parathyroid gland is no bigger than a grain of rice). I have likely had this adenoma for over 5 years and desperately need to remove it to vastly improve my life and tackle chronic pain and fatigue, for which I've been having weekly physical therapy to help mitigate.
I have likely had this adenoma for over 5 years and desperately need to remove it to vastly improve my life. Receiving first-line treatment is extremely necessary in ensuring I do not develop osteoporosis and/or kidney disease further down the line.
Unfortunately, I have increasing credit card debt, making the payments to CareCredit extremely challenging to manage due to the high interest rates I currently have on other cards. I have accrued these charges due to a combination of life hardships, prior medical debt (previous dental work), and the overall high cost of living.
My ultimate goal vis-a-vis this GoFundMe is to pay off my CareCredit card to fulfill these medical needs, then through NFCC (National Foundation for Credit Counseling) work with a counselor to (1) close my credit cards and (2) lower my interest rates. I cannot close my credit cards and begin to properly manage my debt until I have fulfilled the medical needs I have.
For additional context about me, as of right now I have a full-time job in operations. I am also neurodivergent (AuDHD) and have always struggled with financial literacy. In full transparency, I have made financial mistakes along the way that I cannot undo, mistakes which are all catching up to me at this point in time.
I find due to these mistakes and due to life hardships I have no control over, it is getting harder for me to keep up with the day-to-day costs of living, including buying essential groceries, paying rent, and paying my utilities. If I can tackle this medical debt, I truly believe I will get ahead of my other debt.
Thank you for reading this far. As I said, anything you can spare, even $5, is greatly appreciated and will extend a long way. Sharing this across your networks is also greatly appreciated and will help more than words can say. Thank you so so so much.

Verification proof below, as of September 26, 2024.
Verification
Parathyroidectomy
Primary hyperparathyrodism estimated cost of surgery (post-deductible) via United Healthcare
Full report pathology of single adenoma found on left adenoma via initial 4D scan, with additional verification of PTH and calcium levels.
Upcoming appointments set with prospective surgeon and bone density scan
Dental Care
Payments made toward CareCredit via Tend UWS, where I am receiving treatment.
Completed dental care thus far

Bad News
I've been very low energy this past month, and have been experiencing extreme fatigue and a sore throat. Covid tests came up negative, so I decided to get my Doctor to run some blood tests.
A week goes by and she tells me my calcium levels were extremely high, and had me come back for more testing.
I got a call yesterday and she told me the bad news.
I likely have either parathyroid disease, or thyroid cancer according to her...and I'll likely need surgery to have the glands and/or tumors removed. She referred me to an endocrinologist, and now I'm just waiting to hear back from them.
Needless to say I'm not going to be up writing much for a while. Sorry to those who were following any stories I had going/ planned to write. I'll keep y'all posted.

None of these fit. In order to lead a normal life, without this organ, you need ongoing medical intervention. But, with the proper hormones, there are no appreciable issues. One of the easier organs to correct for if it has to been removed.

Bharat Homeopathy’s Approach to Chronic Kidney Disease: Natural Treatment for Lasting Kidney Health
Health implications of chronic kidney disease
Responsible for carrying out multiple body processes, our kidneys are one of the most amazing organs having complex anatomical features. From purifying blood and maintaining its chemical balance to producing various important hormones and enzymes, the organ has many duties to perform.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0fc4999f933fa6384474951542d7c272/34a1bdb14202d2a6-f6/s540x810/f9ca033ba54692f6c5a46b78780158a2a94cd671.jpg)
However, sometimes, certain factors can hamper the well-being of our kidneys, leading to severe complications. If the organ experiences continuous damage for more than 3 months, it gets affected by a medical condition known as chronic kidney disease. This condition can also lead to organ failure, necessitating treatment for kidney failure.
However, if the condition is identified on time, patients can minimize the possibility of severe health implications with the support of a homeopathic cure for kidney diseases. This article discusses the structural and functional dimensions of the kidney and how being affected by chronic kidney disease can hamper its well-being. We will also mention alternative chronic kidney disease treatment strategies to effectively manage the disease.
Structure of our kidneys
Measuring approximately 10-12 cm in length, the kidneys are the central organs of the human excretory system, located just below our ribcage on each side of the spine. The shape of the organ can be understood as rajma beans. The kidney organs, equivalent to the size of our fists, are reddish in color.
Working of our kidneys
Acting as the most efficient filtering system, our kidneys work day and night to purify the blood and remove toxic substances such as urea, creatinine, excess water, and salts from it via urine. Being diagnosed with CKD can also lead to the accumulation of these waste products in our blood. These complications can require high creatinine treatment, uric acid treatment, or a cure for fluid retention. The organ is also responsible for producing various hormones and enzymes, such as;
Renin: This hormone regulates blood pressure by controlling angiotensin and aldosterone levels.
Calcitriol: It aids in the absorption of calcium in the intestines.
Erythropoietin: This hormone promotes the production of red blood cells.
Parathyroid: It promotes calcium reabsorption in the kidneys.
How can CKD affect the functioning of the organ?
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) can affect the functioning of the organs by making it hard for them to filter waste and extra fluid from the blood. This can cause toxic substances to accumulate in the body, which can lead to problems in different organs, such as issues with blood pressure, imbalances in minerals, anemia, and bone health, and even affect the heart and nervous system and can even demand treatment for kidney failure.
Waste buildup: Damaged kidneys can't filter waste like urea and creatinine, causing these substances to collect in the blood and affect many organs.
Fluid retention: When kidneys don't work well, the body can hold onto fluid, leading to swelling in the legs, arms, and lungs.
Electrolyte imbalance: CKD can upset the balance of important minerals like potassium, sodium, and calcium in the blood, which can cause problems like an irregular heartbeat.
Anemia: Damaged kidneys make less erythropoietin, a hormone needed for making red blood cells, leading to anemia.
Nervous system effects: In serious cases, waste buildup can impact the nervous system and cause issues like confusion, tiredness, and even seizures.
Homeopathic kidney failure treatment without dialysis can help in controlling the progression of the disease in a timely manner before it reaches such severe complications.
Symptoms of CKD
The condition can develop to moderate stages without causing any noticeable symptoms. In the later stages, the condition can lead to the following symptoms;
Foamy or bubbly urine
A frequent urge to urinate
Swelling in the hands, legs, and ankles
Your urine may have a foul smell
Feeling tired
Loss of appetite
Homeopathy kidney problem medication can be beneficial in achieving relief from all the above-mentioned symptoms without causing any adverse effects to the patient's health.
Alternative treatment options to cure chronic kidney disease
Homeopathy is a natural set of medicines that works on the philosophy of holistic healing and treating like with like. This medicinal science holds significant importance as the most effective alternative cure for kidney problems. In fact, many patients who lose hope have healed with the support of homeopathic kidney failure treatment without dialysis.
The homeopathic medical plans are designed after a comprehensive analysis of the patient’s health, taking into account factors like their medical history, unique symptoms, family history, and other such aspects. wow Persephone, you get TWO thyroid tumors? save some for the rest of us,,,,,,
(I hope her tumors are manageable/treatable! good luck to you and the little lady)
She is SO special. Also I am going to use your ask as an info dump. As always, I have no actual formal education. So this is what I know from my job / from talking to doc. So don’t take my word as law for any of this bc I may have gotten some things mixed up.
Surgery is an option actually, but only for one tumor. When he takes out the thyroid tumor he also ends up removing the parathyroid. She needs to keep at least one of those, which is why he can only remove one tumor. I also could probably find a specialist who could remove both tumors and leave both parathyroids intact
The tumors are usually begin, but we’d send it out just to make sure it really is. And before we do surgery we’ll want to do bloodwork as well as take chest radiographs and make sure she would A) survive surgery, and B) not be putting her through a surgery when she’s only got a month or two left to live.
#the ‘vet records’ that the shelter gave me aren’t actually vet records#they’re just vaccine records#so I’m HOPING I hear back from them and they send me some actual bloodwork results so I can compare where she’s at now VS when they did it#but also I have adopted from enough shelters to know that they often don’t want to give you real records for whatever reason#ask#Persephone
