What is a Poltergeist Haunting?

Poltergeists or poltergeist hauntings may be the most misunderstood type of haunting, as some believe that poltergeist hauntings are not even haunting at all. The German word “poltergeist” means “noisy ghost.”

The best defining mark of a poltergeist is if there is any manipulation of the physical environment such as the movement of objects, physical attack, spontaneous combustions, etc.; then, this is often considered by ghost investigators to be a poltergeist-type of haunting. But a poltergeist might not be something one wants to deal with as there may not be an easy resolution to such ghost problems.

A common thread between different poltergeist hauntings has strongly indicated that they are caused by psychokinesis (the ability to move things by the power of the mind alone). If such a thing were true, then the question becomes whether the psychokinesis is from the people who live within (or visit) the place where the activity takes place, or if it is actually occurring from an unseen troubled spirit: a ghost. The reason for this is that typically poltergeist hauntings center around an adolescent girl (although young males and even adults have exhibited the same phenomena) in the household. Typically, this central person is usually emotionally disturbed in some fashion, and is somehow the root cause of objects moving, knocking sounds (and other noises), the turning on and off of lights and electrical appliances, etc.

What is interesting is that the person whom the activity centers around is unaware that they are the one who is bringing about the disturbance. And in true poltergeist hauntings, usually, none of the activity will continue after the person is removed from the environment, as they are not there to create it or influence an unseen entity. However, it has been reported that activity can return later if the “right” person visits or lives in a notably poltergeist-haunted place. This would lead one to believe that it requires some form of combined psychic energy to manifest such terrible haunting, or just maybe, poltergeists are active ghosts who are trying to get someone’s attention through manipulation of the environment.

Whatever the truth is behind the poltergeist phenomenon, poltergeist haunting seems to possibly be a powerful demonstration of the human psyche. Mysteriously, poltergeist haunting typically goes away as quickly as it began, leaving little to go on as for how to resolve such cases.

Something strange was happening in the world, something that even the League would not have prevented. It seemed that the United States government had been fighting things they didn't stand a chance with, and this almost ended in disaster if it wasn't for the kindness of what they were dealing with. The details were highly classified and encrypted so Batman didn't know the details and it was frustrating him.

All that trouble resulted in Justice League Dark working steadily with the "Paranormal Department", there wasn't much information on their members and they worked in the shadows (Bruce wasn't amused, he needed contingency plans) but Zatara claimed they were excellent allies, despite their strange use of modern technology.

Bruce didn't know what they were about, or what agreement the president had made, but he didn't trust this "new department". They could betray them at any second. That's why when Constantine informed him that they would take over the "Lazarus pits" he flatly refused. Apparently his refusal didn't matter at the end since the "Department" got jurisdiction over the case.

Team Phantom, which was now headquartered in downtown Amity Park (and had many new members like Paulina and Dash) was having fun pissing off the Bat. While Danny had made an agreement with the government to deal with threats from the Realms, one of the clauses was not to tell the heroes they existed (After years of living with the Fenton's Danny was not amused that anyone knew ways to eliminate him, Clockwork was backup enough). Sam thought it was childish but didn't stop him.

Sam handled all the legal stuff, but it seemed like they had jurisdiction over all the cases that interested them (more than JL, since they were an elite team in that field), and no one could reveal their identities, which relieved Danny greatly.

Their main job was to send the ghosts home and close the rifts, plus deal with demons, or creatures that came out of said rifts. Easy enough for them, but probably extremely risky if you were inexperienced. Honestly, since they dealt with the GIW themselves, Danny didn't trust the heroes, however JLD was fine.

I only know Deadman from the one Justice League Unlimited episode he's in and the DC Nation collection of animated shorts about him (which I love and am obsessed with, he's so small WRAGH!! I love all of the DC Nation shorts honestly). I think he's neat, but I don't know much!

I'm on a Johnstantine kick right now, and so far (as I learn his lore) my opinion is that I generally disagree with the superhero-ification of him? Like giving him powers and being heavily involved in superhero stuff. What makes him so appealing is being the lone guy who's scraping to get by. His greatest power is being a conman. Giving him superpowers robs him of his sardonic smarts. I feel he can do cameo team ups at most, but being part of a League doesn't feel right.

Zatanna is in JL Dark! If she was a pop star I would stream her to the top charts. I loved you in DCSHG, Rarity-coded magician star with her father?? AMAZING stay famous, girly pop. Don't date Constantine, you are way too good for him.

hey guys! hayle here, one of two admins on this blog! so i'm in the editing phase of a mahito x m!reader fic involving the yawata no yabushirazu forest in ichikawa, japan, so i thought i'd make a little post including some research i've done, as well as some information regarding some of the devices mahito and reader use to communicate with the spirits in the forest they're in. read up, and feel free to reblog this to spread the info to friends!

the yawata no yabushirazu forest, commonly shortened to "yawata forest," or "the forbidden forest," ichikawa is a sizeable and fairly developed city just outside tokyo, less than half an hour away, with an estimated population of 500,000 people. ichikawa lies in the western kiba chen prefecture of east-central honshu, japan. ichikawa is located along the edo river, and across the river borders tokyo to the west, and is also located just northwest of funabashi.

the yawata forest is home to many spiritual legends, many of which are the primary reason the forest was given its name. one fairly prevalent theory about the yawata forest is that it's involved with taira no masakado, who the japanese label to be the first samurai.

another largely effective reason the forest is so famous is because of the large expanse of trees' funny little habit of whisking people away to never be seen again, which leads me to a comment mahito makes in the story: " 'did you know that this forest is part of what inspired spirited away? the studio ghibli movie?' mahito says softly, grinning."

mahito was correct in making this comment; a considerably large piece of the inspiration for studio ghibli's animated movie spirited away was the yawata forest's silly little habit of, essentially, repeated mass kidnapping.

the story in question involves some moderately heavy paranormal content, a large part of which consists of mahito and reader using some paranormal investigation devices such as the ovilus, the spirit box, the electromagnetic field (emf) reader, and more. now don't mind me while i explain the main uses of each device that appears in the story.

the ovilus - the ovilus is a communication device invented in god knows when by bill chappel. the device used by professional and amateur/just-for-fun explorers and ghost hunters in paranormal investigations. the device works by detecting electromagnetic energy- which may appear in the form of, for example, voices that living ears can't detect- then assigning a number to it that corresponds with a word in the dictionary. spirits and other entities (ie: demons, poltergeists) use the ovilus to attempt conversations with the living people who are operating the device. some alternatives to the ovilus that operate similarly are the spirit box, the hexcom, and the polterscript.

the estes method - the estes method is a method of interworld communication used by some of the more daring explorers and ghost hunters. the method was created by karl pfeiffer during his investigation of the stanley hotel in estes park, colorado, and is now a widely popular method of communication that many people use. the method requires two or more people in order for the attempt(s) to work, and it involves one- sometimes two, as seen in some of sam and colby's videos- people putting on noise-cancelling headphones that are connected to a spirit box. the person(s) wearing the headphones are also blindfolded. the other member(s) of the group ask the spirits questions and attempt general conversations with the spirits in the room or area, and the spirits or entities may choose to or not to use the spirit box to speak into the headphones, sometimes in response to questions asked by the living side of the conversation, and the wearer(s) of the headphones and blindfold repeat every word they hear. the estes method is very effective, and many questions asked receive an answer, but sometimes the words they spirits say are random, and sometimes they're unsolicited tid bits of information corresponding to the spirit's death, their opinions, their goals, etc.

the séance method - the séance method is another common communication method used by explorers and paranormal investigators. this method is sort of similar to the estes method, but this one fortunately doesn't involve cutting off people's two most important senses. the seance method involves setting candles in a circle on a table or floor and lighting them, and it's not uncommon for people to put cups of water and relevant objects inside the circle and surround the circle of candles and/or sometimes the area directly around them with a line of salt as an attempt to keep potential poltergeists and malevolent spirits at bay of physical contact; most people don't want to be scratched and burned by demons posing as little girls with depressing death stories. the séance method has been used many times in historically famous attempts at conversation with spirits, demons, poltergeists, etc., and seems to have a lightly sporadic rate of failure versus success in comparison to the estes method, which almost always works, whether it's just the spirit box spewing shit or an actual spirit.

Ghost Children

The concept that there are ghosts who are children is often hard to accept. Just thinking about this causes deep feelings of sadness and concern. Ghosts are often thought of as being lost or confused, or trapped because they have unfinished business etc.

So when we think of children that we consider innocent being in a state of limbo it is disturbing. But unfortunately the reality is that ghost children are seen as often as adult ghosts.

Living children often report seeing ghost children, this could be because they have something in common. Often when children recount their experiences with these ghosts to an adult they use terms like, my sister or brother or my friend. This is why parents or caretakers often think the child is referring to an imaginary friend.

These encounters are most often harmless but there is one exception to this rule and it is disturbing. Sometimes negative energy takes on the shape of a child to gain the trust of the living so they can manipulate or use them. These child ghosts appear before adults as well as children.

A specific example of this in my state is a belief held by the Pueblo Native Americans. They believe in shapeshifters and they feel these shapeshifters appear sometimes in the form of children. Pueblo Native Americans live in wide open spaces and strangers are not often seen. Some warn each other not to talk to the child they spotted alongside the road, a few miles back, because it is not a child but a shapeshifter.

A phenomenon that has been discussed a lot in the paranormal community is Black-eyed Children. These children are normally seen in pairs and their eyes, including the white part of their eyes, are completely black.

They approach the living requesting help or if they are at your door they request to come in. More often than not people who encounter them sense something is not right or they just get freaked out and refuse their requests. It is believed these children are demons or evil energy and that they cannot harm the living unless they are invited in. In one of my former posts I discuss Darkness Radio’s discussion about this phenomenon.

Most ghost children however are benign compared to the two examples above. Like most ghosts they just want attention– which means they are an intelligent haunting. Some are just a memory the building or place keeps– which means they are residual in nature. The ghost children I have personally encountered have been very sad, or very curious.

Unfortunately some ghost children are victims. They are trapped because of an act of violence that was done to them leaving them to face unfinished lives. One child ghost I have encountered appears to fit into this category. He witnessed a murder and when the murderer spotted him he was murdered as well. At present he stays in one specific part of a building my group investigates.

Some theorize that ghost children stay around because they like the feeling of lightness they experience after death. Others assign a much more dark reason for their presence, they feel these children might be trapped because they are being held against their will by a stronger force.

You must understand that because the soul has left, the zombie is more or less a rotten human-shaped animal

I believe zombies can crave different things, love, revenge. It depends on the soul that left it.
