The Haunted Wedding Dress
Although most people associate hauntings with buildings spirits can also attach to objects. In past posts I wrote about: Haunted Mirrors, a Haunted Doll called Annabelle, a haunted portrait at Shirley Plantation and recently, The Scorched Bed.
In 1849, Anna Baker was the third child of a wealthy family who lived in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She had the misfortune to fall in love with a worker without means. Her father Elias Baker, who made his fortune as an ironmaster refused to give his consent for the two to marry. He then used his power and influence to have this man kicked out of Altoona.
Anna angry refused to marry anyone else. As the years passed she became a bitter old maid. When she died in 1914 she was still living in the family home.
Before her father’s refusal, in happier times Anna had picked out a beautiful wedding gown that she intended to wear at her wedding. Within the year another Altoona debutante, Elizabeth Dysart then bought this gown. She gloated for she knew Anna had hoped to wear it.
Years later this wedding dress was given to the Blair County Historical Society who eventually donated it to a local museum. This museum is housed in what was once the Baker home.
This wedding gown is displayed in a large glass case in a second floor room that once was the dressing room off Anna Baker’s bedroom.
Witnesses have seen this dress move of its own accord--especially during full moons.
This gown has been seen swaying from side to side. One witness stated it is as if a bride is holding this gown out in front of them as they admire it in a mirror.
The dress also has been seen shaking violently to the point where staff feared the glass case would shatter harming the dress.
Investigators have searched for a draft in this room or any other possible cause but nothing has been found to explain why this dress moves.
Some feel this dress moves because Anna Baker has just reclaimed what was supposed to be hers.

It's always been present, but recently over the years I've had incredible phenomena of psychic energy grace me... circumstances that leave me shaken because it's happened so suddenly, unexpected - yet expected?
A small moment happened a week ago while I was looking for pomegranates... I was heavily focused on which one weighed the most, how big they were - just being my strange normal self... As then a vision shows two police officers walking into the store (behind me quite a distance) & a voice within that split second savs "two police just walked in" - So I turned my head to look behind me & I must've turned paler than I already am & I gasped & turned my head back around quickly (as if that wasn't suspicious). But what was I doing wrong? Absolutely nothing!
But I started to feel unbelievable anxiety & I knew they were going to come near where I was, only to turn around & they are directly behind me grabbing some stuff to buy... I could feel them though. It was as if I could feel their energy & presence. I kept imagining how I have nothing wrong with me aside from a knife I carry with me & I haven't done anything, so why am I feeling this? - Shortly after they had made their way further into the store & I heard a voice say "Thank god they are gone" as I questioned my own self as though who just said that & why did I care in the first place... & why/how did I know they came into the store when I couldn't have by any possible means.
Do you experience paranormal, psychic, haunted or strange energy?

Mary Ellen Spook Farm
In January of 1922, farmer Alexander MacDonald, his wife Janet, and their adopted daughter Mary Ellen fled their home in Caledonia Mills, Nova Scotia after a rash of poltergeist activity, including more than 30 unexplained fires. Though several researchers, journalists, detectives, and paranormal investigators would eventually examine the farm and house, the so-called “fire spook” was never fully explained.
The poltergeist activity that had plagued the household for almost an entire year included moving the cattle around when no one was in the barn, mixing ashes into the stored milk, and even braiding the tails of horses. Most notable, however, were the fires which earned the haunting its name.
The fires would spring up spontaneously all over the house and grounds, often far from the hearth or any other source of a spark. Everything from wallpaper to wet towels were said to burst into flame: it got so bad that the family organized a kind of “neighborhood watch” to guard against arsonists, though none were ever found. Eventually, the family fled the property for good.
Once the family moved out of the house, journalists and would-be paranormal investigators moved in. Even Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was invited to explore the phenomena. Some of the most notable accounts include those of Harold Whidden, a reporter from the Halifax Herald, and police detective Peachey Carroll, who spent two nights in the house. During this time they both experienced several odd events, including the feeling of being slapped on the arm and face by phantom hands. Whidden was so troubled by his experiences that he never published them in his lifetime, though they have since been released by his family.
Another prominent investigator who visited the home for several days was Dr. Walker Franklin Prince, who concluded that the poltergeist activity emanated from the family’s then-15-year-old adopted daughter, Mary Ellen–this in spite of the fact that Dr. Prince, himself, experienced no unusual phenomena during his stay. Members of the family were even brought back to the house during his investigation in an attempt to “trigger” the ghost. Dr. Prince did, however, report unexplained rapping noises in his office back in New York for several weeks after he had completed his investigation into the Caledonia Mills “Spook Farm.”
Unfortunately for Mary Ellen, Dr. Prince’s suggestion that she was the cause, albeit unknowingly, of the fires and other poltergeist activity stuck with her throughout her life. People began calling her Mary Ellen Spook, and, according to some accounts, she was even confined to an asylum for many years. Regardless of the cause, after she and her family moved away from the farm in Caledonia Mills, the phenomena ceased.
However, that wasn’t the end of the story of the Caledonia Mills Spook Farm. Over the years, several other explanations have been put forth as new detectives attempt to solve the mystery. Edward J. O’Brien, a lecturer who stopped off at the nearby St. Francis Xavier University, posited that the fires might have been caused by radio waves passing through Caledonia Mills between the radio towers at Wellfleet, Massachusetts, and Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, though to modern science that theory sounds perhaps even more preposterous than “fire spooks.”
Arsonist or no, the Caledonia Mills legend persists. Even today, long after the farm and house have disappeared, people say that if you take home any item from the property, your house will burn down. According to one couple, who call themselves P.O.N.I. (Pair of Normal Investigators), “This has been tested by regular every day people and the buildings always catch fire.”

Spirit Portals
Spirit portals, frequently referred to as doorways or portals between multiple dimensions or planes of existence, are a notion with strong roots in a variety of spiritual and philosophical traditions. It is thought that spirits, entities, or energies can pass through these portals to move between other planes of existence and our earthly realm. Many different cultures and belief systems have different interpretations and explanations for the concept of spirit gateways. Spirit gateways are revered locations with blurred boundaries between the material world and the spirit realm in many indigenous and shamanic traditions. Shamans and other spiritual seekers frequently go to these places to carry out rituals, speak with spirits, and receive healing or insight. Locations of historical or natural beauty, such as old forests, mountains, caverns, or bodies of water, are believed to naturally host these portals. People believe these locations to have a spiritually supportive vibe, making them ideal for establishing a connection with the afterlife.
Ghost hunters and paranormal investigators sometimes refer to spirit portals as "vortexes" or "energy vortexes". Theoretically, these gateways serve as conduits for ghostly or otherworldly occurrences, according to paranormal investigators. People sometimes believe spirit portals to exist in places with strong paranormal activity reports, like cemeteries, haunted houses, and former battlefields. To find and examine these purported gateways, investigators employ a variety of instruments and methods, including infrared cameras, EMF (electromagnetic field) meters, and EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) recordings. Spirit gateways are also mentioned in contemporary New Age and metaphysical concepts. They are frequently perceived as centers of high vibrating energy, where people can experience psychic powers, increased spiritual awareness, or communication with higher entities. Practitioners of astral projection, energy healing, and meditation may search for or make spirit gates as part of their spiritual practice. Sometimes these gateways can be opened or enhanced through methods like focused intention, sacred geometry, and crystal grids. Paranormal fiction, encompassing books, films, and television series, frequently employs spirit gateways as a literary device. Characters often depict them as whirling, luminous portals or mirrors that allow them to enter different dimensions or worlds. Despite being fanciful, these depictions are based on the premise that specific locations or items can act as links between other worlds. On the other hand, detractors contend that spirit portals are not real gates to other realms but rather the result of magical thinking and psychological events. They propose that many of the experiences that people attribute to spirit portals—like abrupt decreases in temperature, unexplained noises, or a sense of being watched—can be accounted for by ambient variables, natural causes, or the power of suggestion. Studies on psychology have demonstrated that the human mind is skilled at identifying patterns and telling stories, particularly when faced with unclear or emotionally charged circumstances.
Despite doubt, people continue to believe in spirit portals due to cultural narratives and personal experiences. Individuals who report having experienced these portals frequently talk about deep experiences that are difficult to explain. These experiences can range from hearing voices from the afterlife and seeing ghosts to experiencing an intense sense of calm or a strong connection to a higher power. Spirit portals offer an enticing peek into the invisible parts of existence and a deep mystery to believers. The interest in spirit gateways reflects a larger human curiosity about the nature of existence and the potential for life beyond the physical world. Spirit portals, whether perceived as actual doorways, symbolic ideas, or psychological events, arouse curiosity in the unknown and pique the imagination. They serve as a reminder of the timeless appeal of mystery and the need for understanding in a world that is frequently more nuanced and mysterious than it first seems.

The “Hooded ones” have been seen in various places by many people for centuries. They are a little bit different from shadow people in that they are wearing a trenchcoat or trilby hat. With Samhain (Halloween) coming up I thought I would share this. These “Hooded Ones” don’t have any gender or appear to have any gender and often seen as described in a hooded cloak, somewhat like a monk. What are these entities are they spirits of monks? Pagan deities? Are they elementals or perhaps something supernatural? Perhaps they are even a land wight or spirit. the hooded cloak is known as a “Cucullus” and due to this are known as “Genius Cucullus”. Numerous stone and clay statues and stone carvings of these have been found in both continental Europe and Britain. The length of a hooded cloak can vary, more often than not. It tends to be covering the whole body. In folklore they would tend to appear either singular or in a number of three. It is thought, but if they appear as three, it may be a link to the mother goddess and a Celtic Link as well due to the triple aspect. Some of these have been found in the north near Hadrian’s wall and in the south near Gloucestershire are those found in Europe tend to be singular figures. The mystery of the “Hooded Ones” Remains unexplained, and these unusual cloak in individual simply refuse to give up their ancient secrets. No one can tell what these perplexing beings were, but if they actually existed. I have had experiences in seeing these “Hooded Ones” but only as a single one and not coming as three. on one occasion when I saw one a week later, an elderly client are used to look after passed away. So they may be something to do with this, kind of like a spirit warning of a loved one passing, or someone you have a relationship with and got to know quite well passing.
Whatever they are they are a fascinating and folkloric cultural legacy. These hooded ones seemed to have left an impression in the British and European countryside. Back in the early nineties, a family were driving along a road in Worcestershire, England. As they drove through a dark tunnel of ancient trees, they saw something strange ahead of them. A few feet off the ground were three hooded figures and as who moss they were seen; they vanished into thin air. The experience was reported to a local paranormal group.
Are we dealing with spirits here? A folk memory perhaps or land spirits? Whatever they are they are a mystery and likely something very ancient
