midwest emo/pop punk kendall knight means so much to me. like 13 year old kendall getting into death cab for cutie, early panic and fob, mayday parade, 3oh3, and paramore.

his mom is working multiple jobs to support him and katie, and the hockey bills are getting more expensive but his mom refuses to let him stop playing because she can see that he’s good enough to have a future in this and she’ll be damned if her financial situation keeps him from that.

and he’s 13 so he technically can’t start working yet but joel at the grocery store has known the knights kendall’s entire life and he’s willing to pay him under the table to push carts and organize the shelves, and when he turns 15 it becomes his first official job.

and joel doesn’t mind kendall blasting his music through his earphones as long as he’s aware of his surroundings and so the soundtrack to kendall’s first year of work is mayday parade’s a lesson in romantics, and panic’s a fever you can’t sweat out intertwined with paramore’s riot! and 3oh3’s want.

there’s just something about a little kendall whose entire life revolves around hockey and his mom and his sister and his teen angst and anger issues and him finding comfort even if it’s just during his shift in music made for kids like him

James: he’s big on Tyler, the creator, fucks w harry styles and some of taylor swift (he started listening to them cus he heard lily likes them, turns out it’s his thing too). proud ed sheeran enjoyer, also listens bands like the kooks and the strokes, wallows and just general vibey music. casual listener of everything, not really into stan culture

Remus: idc what u say bro is into presplit panic! at the disco, like worshipped ryan ross when he was 13 kind of guy. the front bottoms, fucks w idkhow, had a painfully pretentious ‘born in the wrong generation’ phase where he was obvs really big on bowie, the stones, the smiths, the cure etc.

Sirius: Got into the 2015 emo trinity because of remus’s ryan ross obsession. LOVED pierce the veil as an angsty teen, massively into fob (especially pre-hiatus) and had a crush on Pete Wentz growing up. Definitely had a Gerard Way fan account when he was 15. (i’m projecting). never truly left his emo phase, just stopped being pretentious about it and also began listening to pop music.

Peter: actually enjoys p!atd up to pray for the wicked (again, thanks to remus forcing them on everyone back in secundary school). probably a casual listener of a bunch of stuff, though he’s a big weezer fan and really enjoys niall horan. WILL crank up brainrot music (like the hamsterdance or fnaf songs or minecraft parodies and he knows every single word)

Marlene: everyone’s favourite cool girl, loves riot grrrl music!!! CHAPPEL ROAN!!!!!! OBVIOUSLY a paramore stannie. shakes ass to Gaga and Troye Sivan, probably went to see Weezer live with Peter and started a moshpit during Buddy Holly.

Mary: she’s beyhive for sure, as in, has extensive knowledge on everything beyoncé. Got into Taylor Swift because of Lily. Those two def had a 1D phase together. Likes Pink Pantheress and some Halsey, got into chappel roan bcs of Marlene. She likes most of the main pop girls (ariana, dula peep, olivia…) she’s an overall fun person, so her music taste reflects that.

Lily: HEAVY on Taylor swift and harry styles. as before mentioned, she had a 1D phase along with Mary (she was a Niall girl). Had the inevitable not like other girls phase when she got into Lorde, the 1975, arctic monkeys and halsey (it’s a canon event we can’t intervene). Got over her internalised misogyny and became a swiftie, amen🙏🏻

i was actually just about to type these out so this ask is well timed

-Tiger is very big on 2000s emo. she LOVES paramore. Bear is the one who helped dye their hair orange(after hayley williams duh)

-Tiger is also very big on classic punk and riot grrl(i’m not projecting i swear) because it was very much the easiest music to get a hold of after the crumble (in the early day of the army them and Bear would go out to rob cd stores and she’d always steal a couple cds)

-Bear is very big on folk music. she’s also a classic emo girly. she LOVES american football and modern baseball.

-after long days they listen to music together and just kinda lay in their room. the other army members find it curious how they’re really the only ones to share a room

-Tiger first dyed their hair when she was 10. Bear helped her. the dye job was very shoddy but they loved it

-Tiger is nonbinary! they sort of came out as a kid when she first met Bear but later down the line they finally had a word for it so she explained it better. Tiger was her original chosen name(might give her a diff one in the fic later on idk)

-Bear has a very weird relationship with gender. i think she’s genderqueer but basically the “i’m nonbinary but i have a job rn so idrc)

-they’re both butch lesbians. i don’t make the rules

-Bears love language is secretly touch. she pretends it’s acts of service but Tiger knows better and tries to make a decent amount of physical contact with her

-Tigers love language is quality time. they enjoy extended periods of time with Bear but are very much too anxious to ask her to hang out more after the crush manifests

-a lot of Tigers anxiety manifests itself as anger. that’s why she’s like that in season 1.

-in the time they spent witj the hybrids while waiting for everyone to come back from alaska, Finn quickly became her favorite. they’re both a bit mischievous and she sees herself in him

-Wendy finds Tiger and Bears dancing around the idea of a relationship amusing. i think there’d be a point where her and Bear are just sitting on the porch and she’s like “i’d be fine with having a sibling in law y’know”

-i also think she’d have a talk with Tiger and be like “i think you’re good for her and you’ve got history. you helped her find me so you’re alright”

-Tiger is surprised by the accusation of crushing on Bear(she’s not)

-all of the hybrids LOVE Tiger. she does teach all of them the best swears. at some point they get back to the army headquarters and gets her computer back, once they research swears in sign all hell breaks lose

-the wolf boys visit regularly. they eventually learn very basic english but they can’t articulate well so they stick to sign

-the wolf boys are also very sweet with the rest of the hybrids! they especially love Finn since they’re all canines

-i feel like all the hybrids are bi. like how some animals are naturally just bi. i think that’s how they are

-the games they play can get personal. if someone beats someone else in one game you can bet your ass they’re getting back in the next game

All We Know Is Falling 👑: Conspiracy 🤡: Whoa

AWKIF struggled, with all but two songs being eliminated in the first round. Whoa suffered the worst defeat of any song the whole competition, while Conspiracy and Here We Go Again both put up brave fights in round two before ultimately being killed off.

Riot! 👑: For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic 🤡: Misery Business

For A Pessimist defied all odds as the only song on Riot to make it into the semifinals, proving itself to be the album opener of All Time. Misery Business, on the other hand, was kicked down the stairs on sight, failing to make it out of round one.

Brand New Eyes 👑: Ignorance 🤡: The Only Exception

Ignorance steamrolled everything in its path and now joins fellow BNE track Playing God in the final. Time and again, it managed to take down other heavy hitters, proving itself really to be our collective new best friend. On the other hand, TOE was the only BNE single eliminated in round one. Pour one out for my beautiful misunderstood wife.

Paramore 👑: Part II 🤡: Fast in My Car

Part II was narrowly eliminated in round three, if it hadn't been for those meddling kids (All I Wanted) it could have made it all the way. Meanwhile, Fast in My Car was one of the 11 self-titled tracks brutally eliminated at the beginning, proving no one has any taste.

After Laughter 👑: Pool 🤡: Told You So

The AL stans showed UP to the polls every day and made their votes count. I get that Told You So was up against Hard Times in the first round, but it didn't even put up a fight. Pool proved its status as a fan favorite; even if it didn't make it to the final round, the real winners are all of us for recognizing the peak of songwriting.

This Is Why 👑: Thick Skull 🤡: The News

As the newest album, This Is Why both gained a boost from the recency bias while also struggling to hold its own against tracks that have had years to cement their statuses. The News couldn't make weight, while Thick Skull made it all the way to round four.

hayley to me has always been such an inspiration, especially with how she evolves, how the music and the band evolves, how she was (and still is) a standout front woman in a definitely male dominated genre…

shes so memorable, and she’s spoken out about all kinds of groups and people, she continues to better herself and change…

she’s just admirable. everything about her is, i’ve loved her for years and she continues to be a big inspiration for me, the second i found out about paramore, I started to look up to her.
