My Hero Headcanons: Spinner, Magne, Twice

*These aren't exclusive to the Ambush Sim AU, but they do fit the narrative there.

My headcanon is Spinner didn't necessarily have a bad childhood, but it certainly wasn't ideal. He's an only child. His mother died when he was young due to a rare illness that only affects heteromorphs, therefore adding to the heteromorph discrimination in that their biology made them susceptible to new diseases/conditions that healthcare wasn't funded to understand/treat. (His mother lived through the indignity of having to go to a veterinarian for treatment before she died, something I imagine is very dehumanizing for the animal-heteromorphs. Side Note: I really speculate whether or not a zoology course is required for a general practitioner physician in the MHA world or if that's a specialty.) Spinner's father was overworked making ends meet and was completely mentally and emotionally checked out of having a relationship with his kid. He never treated him badly, but they don't really talk outside of necessity and the occasional New Years/happy birthday calls.

My Magne headcanon is she had a wonderful family...until she came out as trans and it all turned out to be a façade. I feel like her parents acted accepting at first and entertained her preferred pronouns for a bit, but they were on the 'let's hope he's going through a phase' side of unsupportive. Magne always had an inkling they didn't truly support her, but she hoped they would come around eventually. She went no-contact with them after a bad fight that left her disowned, but she's doing well. Canonically, she clearly had friends before joining the LoV, so she potentially had a support group. Her father also taught martial arts and that's where she learned how to fight. I do have more headcanons about her character, but I can't go into it fully because that actually is a spoiler for Ambush Sim.

My Twice headcanon is more or less a prime example of how the Commission shot itself in the foot with their policies. Everybody and their mother in My Hero acknowledges he has a powerful Quirk, so you'd think after canonically losing his parents, the Commission would've approached him as they did Hawks or Nagant just to have another good, little soldier loyal to them. Or at the very least sponsored his education.

But the thing is, even if Twice wanted to go Pro, he probably wouldn't have been able to without any kind of financial assistance. Pro Hero education is taught at a high school level, and since there's the all but guaranteed prestige behind graduating from a hero program, I'm willing to be all or most of those schools are private, which means money. (Not to mention the public school system in Japan has a bit of a stigma behind it.) In 2023, the average for private high school tuition annually was ¥1.03 million (a little over 7,000 USD), a record high impacted by the pandemic.

Assuming My Hero's futuristic setting hasn't changed its education tuition policies to be more affordable or free, Twice straight up would not have been able to afford a private school's tuition on his own, and with combined factors of a surplus of hero students and high school not being legally mandatory in Japan, he might not have qualified for government assistance either since he could just go straight into the work force. And the lack of government assistance to impoverished children only perpetuates all the societal issues.

I think it's really funny (but also just really sad) that in the end there are still a lot of people irl who just see the league as mass murderers. They wound up mimicking the society that turned them into villains in the first place and that kind of says something not only about Horikoshi's accurate storytelling but also how BNHA society is kind of a reflection of our own, just with heroes and villains. And yeah it's an anime and not that serious but it is to me.

Soo I got inspired a lil bit to draw Big Sis Magne again, but THIS TIME she's got different outfits on! Because we can all agree that she needs more than that Orange jacket and Jean combo. (Not that it's bad, it's just a lil plain compared to the other villains ykyk) soo i took the liberty of giving Magne the outfits she NEEDS. Starting up, we have this random fit I made that started off everything.

Even though there's no colours cause, y'know, I don't got em, I'll describe it to you. She's got a thigh length Hot pink Leopard print dress with some frill on the straps and top hem (I think that's what it's called). With a blue jean jacket on, (complete with a trans pin, cuz trans icon), baby pink heels and a Anklet :>>

honestly I like the dress idea on her, reminds me of those 2000s Halloween duct tape dresses but like In a good way

Next up, we have two outfits. The first outfit on the Left, she's got a sleeveless cream coloured cropped top that was originally supposed to be a flower shaped top, but I chickened out cause I didn't know how to draw it and make it look good, so I just drew the top with a pattern mimicking sweater pattern. She's got some light blue jeans on, and silver bracelets.

On the Right, I drew her in a [I (heart) J P] shirt (JP meaning the abbreviation of Japan). This one was based off of Liz's 'I heart New York' shirt in Soul Eater Not!, cause I got the first two books from my school's library for free!

I also gave her an Eye design cause I'm 80% sure we never see her eyes without her sunglasses on. So uhh yeah, time to get creative

And next, we have her in a large loose sweater with sleeves that go just past the elbow with a Yellow and Green Hill wavey pattern. Over a white dress shirt and pinkish full Shorts. This one Was based off of Tsugumi's Death Bazaar flea market outfit from Soul Eater Not!, that's two cameos inna row! I even drew her in Tsugumi's pose

This one has Magne in a bright yellow turtleneck, with a green tank top with white stripes. This was actually based off of one of Veronica's beautiful outfits in the Old Archie Comics, specifically the outfit she wore in 'Archie in a Sappy Tree' minus the tag pearl necklace, and plus the lil ponytail.

And finally we have Magne in that popular slash sorta popular slash maybe popular Strawberry cottage core Dress! I even put a lil strawberry hair accessory (forgot the name.. i wanna say clasp.) in her hair.

I was originally gonna go for Sanrio since I thought she seeme dlike a My Melody kinda girl, but I couldn't find good outfut inspo soo I just drew her in a Dress. Its pretty tho

Don't mind the smudge, I'm just Right handed and have very sweaty palms that like to show up whenever i wanna D R A W.

soo context, I bought a overhaul action figure for christmas (since it was the only mha fig in the store but we ain't gon talk about that-) and my parents got me this shark excavation kit for christmas. aaand once I found how tiny the sharks were (the excavation area was so big tho?? tf Natintonal geographic?? waste???) I decided to give them to Overhaul! and they fit in his arms so perfectly I made it canon that he has sharks.

Her voice is low and warm, but there’s a weight to it, like every word matters more than it should. She smiles, sometimes, wry and knowing, like she’s in on a secret you haven’t been told yet. Hikiishi watches her customers carefully. She’s looking for the ones drawn to darkness, the ones ready to know more. Sometimes, she invites them back for private readings after hours. The people who return from those nights are never quite the same. Some disappear entirely. It’s easy to believe she’s just well-read, someone who knows too much. But then she speaks, and you feel your thoughts shift, your beliefs realign like metal drawn to a magnet. And if you let her, she’ll change you. The scariest part is, you won’t even notice it happening.
