SNEAKING OUT TO MEET AT MCDONALDS FOR A MIDNIGHT SNACK. LYING DOWN ON A FIELD TOGETHER. LEANING ON EACHOTHER ON A PARK BENCH FOR A COUPLE MINUTES. They didn't deserve all they were put through man, i miss my lil guy meow meows so much

Just here to say I was here before it becomes one of the biggest cartoons of the year. There was so much heart, thought, and creativity put into this show. The animation is gorgeous and deserves to be recognized for the absolute work put into it. Once it was removed from amc the anger i felt not being able to watch this show anymore without using illegal websites filled me with a hole in my heart for something that was as great as this show. The character development, lore and ideological concepts explored have never intrigued me as much as this show. So if you haven’t already planned to give it a watch on Friday on Netflix I implore you to. One story of many twists and turns with many great payouts. If you like sci fi and want to support more adult animation this is the show to watch.

Pantheon has two completed seasons which has an ending that will keep you onto your seats until the end.

Plot summary with slight spoilers if you are intrigued: (better to go in blind)

In a world of advanced technology a new form of intelligence arises. This is called uploaded intelligence. With UI they can keep a persons legacy and brain forever. Imagine if Einstein was uploaded what impacts could that make on the world?

Meanwhile bullied teen Maddie begins receiving messages from a mysterious stranger that claims to be her recently deceased father, David; his consciousness has been uploaded to the cloud after an experimental brain scan, and it turns out he's not the only one.

There's a lot to love about Pantheon but so far what I've been thinking about the most is how they managed to make the many wild and unusual things that transpire feel more real by anchoring them in real-life events. For example, it's the first show I've seen that acknowledges the COVID-19 pandemic – and it's an important plot point! Climate change, legal battles over indigenous cultural sites, the Russia-Ukraine war, even conflict in the Middle East... all of these are acknowledged and of notable plot relevance within the show.

Now, I'm sure this is done more often in live action shows (I don't watch very many of those), but for an animated series this is basically unheard of. Whether Pantheon does a good job of incorporating and addressing these issues is another question (each issue could probably get its own essay in this regard; I kind of feel all of them could have been integrated better), but it feels hugely important to me to highlight that the writers included all this because it would have been so easy not to.

In my opinion, more than anything else, this is what makes Pantheon so ambitious from a writing perspective. They didn't have to do all that! They could have avoided a lot of hornet nests and the story itself wouldn't have suffered – but the immersion would have. This way, I felt like everything I was watching could have been real if things had gone just a little bit differently.

On Pantheon

So against all odds the second season of Pantheon has been released. Considering it was already made I guess it was a matter of when it would be released, but that doesn't diminuish how dirty Amazon did this wonderful show.

The whole series is what I can describe as "light cyberpunk", since it mostly takes place within close to our own era (aside from the very last three episodes). It strikes a balance of grimdark with a positive view of the future, making it not only a very realistic and honest show but also incredibly unpredictable. Again, the last three episodes will just blow your mind.

Give this show a go. It deserves it.

it is genuinely astounding to me how this show just keeps throwing twists at me & it just doesn't get old. like. i keep thinking "i feel like this is going somewhere that other stories have done & I'm not looking forward to it" but it just. it's good. the show is good. man.

Guys help i thought pantheon was some silly lil show about someone a couple teens hacking or entering technology and gadgets, i didn't expect to be up at 1am because this show permanently altered my brain chamistry by dabling in the "life's a simulation" theme i nEED MORE MADDIE AND CASPIAN CONTENT. AND JUST CONTENT IN GENERAL. There's like 23 fanfics in ao3, 7 with the caspian/ maddie tag someone save me

If anyone hasn't done it yet, please go and watch Pantheon. It's only 2 seasons long and it's such an amazing show all around that it's insane

From the characters to the story it's just a masterpiece all around imo, last time I saw it was on Amazon Prime after AMC+ practically cancelled it. Definitely give it a watch
