And so, the stunning Ash walked into the realm of darkness. You heard a voice coming from a small individual with a black hoodie and glasses, "Hello hello! I've heard you're here for a trick or treat? Very well then! I shall use my magic to give you just that!"

And so they moved their magic wand around and fog filled the area. The fog was so thick that it made it difficult for you to see, something felt strange but you couldn't pinpoint it. Once the fog disappeared, someone appears before you! It is...A Magic Mirror?

"Lucky you!! You got such a rare and magnificent item! This is a magic mirror! I'd explain but perhaps it is best if I showed you! Oh Magic Mirror? Who is the prettiest of all?" And so the mirror displayed your reflection.

The small person spoke again, "And before you can object, I must remind you beauty is in the eye of the beholder! And who better to be the holder of this mirror thaaaan...Aqua!"

"Im afraid the night of Halloween has ended for me so I must disappear. But I sure hope you enjoy the rest of your night with your beloved Aqua!" And so the person disappeared! Enjoy your treat! <3

"Don't 'geehee' me." Teo's mocking tone comes from above you, though the look of disdain on his face didn't seem to be aimed at you specifically. "This is fuckin' weird."

"Y'think?" [REDACTED]'s voice soon joins in, only this time, it comes from somewhere behind you. All too quickly, his tall frame presses up against your back — and before you know it — you're suddenly being caged in by two warm chests. "What makes you think I wanna be dressed like a clown?"

"A clown? Please." With an eye-roll, Teo steps even closer, casually pressing himself up against you and giving you no room to squirm. "Just admit that this is the first time someone actually laid eyes on your pathetic self."

"Yeah, f'dressing like a fucking clown." Large, tattooed (and scarred) hands land on your shoulders as [REDACTED] pulls you even closer into his chest with a protective hold. "...I don't need anyone t'look at me though. Not unless it's—"

"It's starshine over here, right?" Finally acknowledging your presence, Teo sends you a sly wink before he rests his own hand on your hip. But unlike [REDACTED], his intention was more goading rather than protective. "You're predictable, buttercup."

"'Least I'm not some pretentious asshole."

"At least I've got an ass in the first place." Teo's tone practically oozes self-confidence as he leans even closer; allowing himself to tower above your head and face his "copycat" in a heated staring contest. "Couldn't care less if it was pretentious or not."

If Teo leaned any further, they'd be close enough to—

"—How much did it cost?" You unconsciously get pushed into Teo's body as [REDACTED] stands his ground. Your hands get a good feel of the hard chest before you, though you knew better than to let them linger for too long. "As much as it did to buy all your friends?"

"That was cute." Aaaaaand... Now you were also getting smothered by [REDACTED]'s chest while Teo does the same in return. "Where's your little insult book?"

"The same place your parents keep their love and affection f'you." You could practically hear the victory fanfare play as [REDACTED]'s hands finally pull you free from Teo.

"Motherf—"

“You’re so strong! All of these eggs, just for us? That’s so kind of you!” 

Bitty chirps at him, trying to push the basket higher and toward the orange-scarved turtle, the snapper behind him obligingly moving half a step forward. Michelangelo giggles and takes the gift, pressing it against his chest. 

“Thank you so much! Oh, you know what?” he asks the kid, winking and offering him a chirp of his own. “We just bought fresh produce and a few dozen eggs the other day. Now I can make the biggest omelette New York has ever seen! It’ll be amazingly delicious!” 

He then looks up at Uncle Raph, eyes softening as he takes in the hulking form of his not-older-brother older brother. His smile is equally soft when he shifts to look down again, reaching to gently hold Bitty’s hand in between his thumb and index finger. 

“Your family is obviously invited, too. Please, join us for lunch? It’s the least I can do in return for such a lovely gift.”

I'm rereading surrender again (bc it's just so gosh darn amazing and i love it!!!), and the brief mention of melon bread in chapter 2 made me go "hang on, what exactly *is* melon bread??"

So since, as of two weeks ago, i'm now living in Japan, i went to my local grocery store, and happily walked out with a bag of plain and choco chip melon pan. And it was so good?? So i hope Haru enjoyed his melon bread as much as i did (if Weeds actually remembered to give it to him haha), and also thank you for opening my eyes to this scrumptious pastry through your work!!
