Ira Steven Behr being a Zionist is so disappointing to me. You’d think someone who spent nearly a decade writing about the ills of colonialism and genocide would understand I/P in at least a more nuanced way.

song recently played: The Whitehall Minuet, because playing it while I walk around the city makes me feel like an urban fantasy protagonist
favorite color: tie between black, deep red, and forest green
movie recently watched: the original Haunted Mansion movie. god, but there's the making of an excellent Babby's First Gothic Romance there if you ignore the slapstick comedy parts
tv show recently watched: Cabinet of Curiosities. Again. Don't judge me.
sweet/spicy/savory: savory, but I also like sweet
relationship status: single and grumbling about it
last thing i googled: not terribly cheery, but it was "Syria hospital bombing misinformation." people are circulating old video saying it's footage of Gaza right now- why anyone feels that's necessary when very real atrocities are happening, I have no idea
current obsessions: still Crimson Peak, but also the idea of making an evening gown based on the Charles River for a museum fundraiser (blue-black shot silk, silver sparkly elements, lace for the whitecaps...)
I tag @margridarnauds, @rosesutherlandwrites, @lucillesharpeapologist, and @anna-neko

I hate how my inbox keeps getting flooded by those Gaza/Palestine sob story spam bots. It's always the most clickbait-worthy stories too. "Oh, I'm pregnant and about to miscarry and I have 7 kids and a dying husband! Donate to my GoFundMe!" Like do you think I was born yesterday??? This is just the next evolution of the Nigerian prince lmfao. I think real Palestinians probably have more important things to worry about than setting up spam bots to send an ask to every Tumblr user and their grandmother.
Like if there's one thing I've learned during my ~10 years on Tumblr is that you can never take these spam bots at face value. They'll come at you with some sob story designed to rip your heart out, and then they'll take every penny they can get. It used to be sob stories about dying dogs or kids with cancer. But now they're using an actual fucking genocide to try and make a quick couple bucks. That's just the lowest form of scumbaggery I can think of.
And what's worse? Some of these bots send me messages multiple times! Like if I didn't respond the first time, what makes you think I'll respond to you spamming me? I don't even use Tumblr as often as I used to, like... leave me alone, I'm on Reddit reading about piercings and plants and exotic animals!!
All I can do is just block and report them as they come in. I hope nobody's falling for these scams, but not everyone's been on Tumblr as long as some of us. They might not be able to recognize these messages for what they are.

Reblog the fundraisers you mfs!!!!! I don't know why you all skip those to reblog some pic of a banner saying "FREE PALESTINE" or of news from Columbia University! Literally these people from Gaza have made an account on Tumblr and is writing in english to communicate what they need and you all are coming onto my blog or on the tag and not reblogging their posts. We have people both Palestinian and non Palestinian vetting the fundraisers! I mean more the reblogs, more the chance of the fundraisers gaining momemtum, the more there would be a chance of a donation. Please donate if you can and reblog!!! and follow them if it is possible.
@/mohammedayesh has posted about getting leaflets, telling them to evacuate Rafah. They are very low on funds. Go follow them and reblog their posts and donate if possible.
We have @/haneenatya too whose mother is suffering from eye stroke and need to evacuate. Please I have been following them for some days and it doesn't seem their own posts are getting much attention.
Follow them! They are on tumblr. Reblog their posts and donate. The protests in universities are being done on account of them. They should be our focus.
(EDIT: on re-reading my post it seems as if I am dismissing all that the students of universities are doing. I am not. I just meant, since all of it is to help Palestinians, we must not ignore them when they ask for help).

they'll fund a genocide and let their poor regions be destroyed. don't fucking forgive them for that.
my hometown is completely gone from what pictures i can find of it, i have not heard from my family (including aunts, uncles, parents, one sibling, and a grandparent), and the infrastructure in the mountain communities is wiped out. i cannot stress how catastrophic this is, or how difficult it will be for these communities to build back. i am angry, and scared, and heartbroken by everything that's happened.
and our government is spending it's money to fund a genocide.
free palestine, and don't be complicit. realize that this is not something happening that doesn't affect you--although it shouldn't take this to care about the deaths of thousands of people anyway.

if you support israel right now, you're supporting the extermination of the palestinian people.
it really is that simple.
this isn't a 'complicated conflict,' it isn't a situation that 'requires nuance,' it's not a 'geopolitical event' that requires us to condemn the 'bad actors' on 'both sides.'
it's a genocide.
there is no 'nuance' to be had here. it's a genocide, committed by the israeli state against the palestinian people, and it's happening right now as we speak. you don't have to infer anything: israel has openly, with next to no pushback from so-called liberal democracies, cut off gaza's access to water, food and electricity. that's more than two million palestinians denied even the basic necessities for life. a million of them, children.
what is that, if not a genocide?
and that's only the latest escalation. we could go all day, listing the atrocities the palestinian people have been subjected to. the killings, the beatings, the children sexually abused in detention center, all the hospitals and ambulances being blown up, videos of palestinians being heckled by settlers as they're driven from their homes, israelis gathering on hilltops to cheer as their military drops bombs on gaza...
but all westerns want to talk about, is hamas.
because the murder of palestinians by the IDF is status quo; it doesn't affect them. what's one more dead palestinian but a statistic? but if hamas has killed a handful of israelis — if they've go as far as to even kill babies — then that justifies the extermination of two million palestinians, children and infants included.
westerns will even say that the palestinians brought it on themselves; that they should have know that a drop of israeli blood requires a river in return.
and just so we're clear, you don't have to like hamas. but when you equate hamas with the IDF, when you derail every conversation by demanding a condemnation of 'both sides,' or when you, god forbid, agree that israel is justified in dismantling hamas — which, as israel themselves have outlined, will involve the complete destruction of gaza and the murder of hundreds of thousands of civilians — then either wake up, or own up to the fact that you're a participant in the extermination of the palestinian people.
do you think i'm being harsh? then imagine how it's like living under constant aerial bombardment. with no food, no water, no electricity. constant air-raid sirens. a bomb, dropping every minute. never knowing a moment a peace, always wondering if today is going to be your last day, if you and your family are still going to be here tomorrow.
could you stomach living in gaza, for even a day? i doubt it.
and still, now, on the eve of what might be the ground invasion of gaza — with one million palestinians being told to flee, with nowhere to go — i'm getting messages from people who demand my sympathy... for israel.
well, you're not getting it.
i'm not even humoring your hand-wringing.
if you live in israel, and you're one of the ones who've turned a blind-eye to the suffering of the palestinian people, if you've fought for the IDF or tacitly supported them, if you've callously called upon the memory of the holocaust thinking the death and suffering of your ancestors would wash the blood of your own hands....
then yeah, i think you deserve every single hamas rocket lobbed at you and so much more.

hi hello this is your reminder that google are hypocrites(and bds)
the lay offs were on the 18th this month, pretending to celebrate a native culture as you help the military that is actively ethnically cleansing them, and has been for years, is highly hypocritical and just an attempt to save face
in case someone forgot, google is on BDS' "pressure" list, which means it isn't necessary a 100% boycott but rather a target for pressuring and limiting your use of their services to push them towards cutting ties with israel
additional context on dabka:
it is a folk dance from levantine countries like lebanon, jordan, syria, and palestine. with possible origins in ancient phoenician and/or canaanite cultures

The number of confirmed Palestinian political prisoners has exceeded 10,000 from the West Bank and AlQuds, thousands from Gaza, and hundreds from within the lands occupied in 1948. Conditions in Zionist prisons have always been dire and have gotten significantly worse since October 2033.
Among these prisoners, over 300 are women from the occupied West Bank, while the number of women from Gaza abducted by Zionist forces remains unconfirmed.
Many women endure deliberate medical negligence, denial of communication with family and lawyers, unsanitary conditions, and severe violence. This includes psychological torture with solitary confinement, overcrowded cells filled with insects and dirt, and a lack of natural light. Prisoners are subjected to beatings, insults, threats, and sexual harassment and abuse. Strip searches are common, often used as methods of punishment and humiliation.
Despite continuous threats from the Zionist forces against freed prisoners and their families, these Palestinian women, among countless others named and unnamed, have shown immense courage and steadfastness in their choice to share the torture they have endured.
We demand the freedom of all Palestinian political prisoners. FREE THEM ALL!

I hope no one who supported Israel, I hope no one who said “Israel has the right to defend itself”, I hope no one that stayed silent, I hope no one that stayed neutral, I hope no one who cried “both sides”, I hope no one preaching “nuance”, EVER gets to experience another peaceful day again. I hope every last one of them suffers for the remainder of their lives. I hope the guilt eats at them every single day to the point they can’t take it anymore and they choose to do the world a favour and off themselves. I hope every last one of them pays severely for their crimes and for their support of genocide. I hope their very existence is plagued with nightmares. I hope they experience what it’s like to have never ending bombs rain over their heads.
Whatever happens in Gaza tonight or tomorrow or after, know that we won’t forget and we will never forgive.

Even CNN is reporting the truth more now. But if you are held without being charged, you aren’t a prisoner, you’ve been kidnapped and are a HOSTAGE. And human rights organizations have said that the other 50%, who were charged, were mainly charged with throwing rocks, and that even most of that was made up.
For all the pro israel who came to my posts of Palestinian children celebrating their freedom, calling them terrorists and criminals. Israel is an occupation state, they don't need a reason to arrest you as long as you're Palestinian.

pro palestine protest today in London and suddenly nobody is allowed to wear anything that "conceals their identity" in certain parts of central London and the excuse of "based on evidence" it's so clear this is just racial profiling and islamophobia and a gateway for police harassment and even when asked about masks the pigs are still trying to cover their trail. ok fascist police state
