An homage to the cinematographer Hani Jawhariya of the Palestine Film Unit of the PLO, which contributed significantly to the emergence and body of the films of the Palestinian resistance. Jawhariya was killed in filming in Lebanon. The film is one of the few remaining documents of the work of the Palestine Film Unit.

Palestine in the Eye chronicles the profound impact of Hani Jawharia’s death for the PLO Film Unit. The film reflects on his life through interviews with family, colleagues, and his own cinematography, including the moment of his death while filming for the Unit in 1976. Although the film has later been attributed to Mustafa Abu Ali, the Unit’s method of work was to describe everyone as a collective of ���workers,” and we see this in the film titles, which collectively list the names of all those who participated as a non-hierarchical collective. when a sudden act of politically charged violence occurs, like the hamas attack a few days ago, i ask WHY? i ask WHY until i get as far back as i can. i read accounts written by all sides. i try to find out why this is happening in the first place. half of these facts have come from the israeli government itself. all of them are easily found and easily confirmed by reputable sources. a lot of them are caught on film. all of these facts lead me to know that the state of israel was created by britain in order to gain an advantage in an unrelated war. i know the state of israel has caused unimaginable harm to the country it's slowly eating, and has suffered just a fraction in return. i know religion justifies none of it.

palestinians deserve to live in their own country. palestinians deserve to not be forced to give their homes to americans. palestinians deserve to live, to leave, to stay, to wave their own fucking flag. they do not deserve to have another country plopped on top of them and then have their settlers ask 'don't WE have a right to exist?' as their own right to exist is being extinguished.

Crown prosecutors have dropped assault and harassment charges against a woman who pulled the hijab of a protester at a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Ottawa in May, saying it needed to balance the public interest in prosecution and the reasonable prospect of conviction.  As part of the reasoning given for withdrawing charges on Thursday, assistant Crown attorney Moiz Karimjee said the Crown considered a number of factors, including that the victim was chanting "From the River to the Sea Palestine will be Free," which he said could be reasonably inferred to be "a call for genocide of the Jewish people." Karimjee noted Hayfa Abdelkhaleq was chanting the phrase outside Ottawa City Hall on May 14 when Lorna Bernbaum approached her and pulled her hijab. Bernbaum was on her way to a celebration of Israel's Independence Day when she encountered Abdelkhaleq, who was waving a Palestinian flag and protesting Israel's assault on Gaza. Video showed Bernbaum, 74, giving the middle finger to the camera before she pulled down Abdelkhaleq's headscarf, revealing her hair.  Abdelkhaleq responded by shouting, "Shame, shame on you," as Bernbaum walked away. Following an investigation by the Ottawa Police Service's hate crime and bias unit, Bernbaum was charged with criminal harassment by threatening conduct, assault and mischief.

In 2016, Al Jazeera undercover reporter, James Kleinfeld, conducted an undercover investigation of Israel advocacy groups and their efforts to undermine the Palestine solidarity movement in the United States. The investigation revealed stunning details about the Israeli government’s work with U.S. based groups to gather intelligence on and engage in psychological warfare against Palestine solidarity activists Due to political pressure, the films publication was suppressed, but the four-part series was eventually leaked by Electronic Intifada. In 2020, organizer and researcher Caren Holmes created this one-hour cut of the series focused specifically on Israel’s efforts to disrupt campus organizing in the United States.
