excuse me for stating the obvious but like. james gunn outright calling superman an immigrant and doubling down on it when he got backlash (because he IS an immigrant, that's the point of superman) + the in-movie dialogue of "aren't you going to read me my rights?" "you're an extraterrestrial, son. you haven't got any rights to read." + the violence of his arrest and how they torture and mistreat him unapologetically, all under the guise of "protecting america", in a film releasing during the onslaught of violent ICE kidnappings and abuse... yeah it's really no wonder right-wing knobheads are crying about this being woke. they're being forced to look directly at the reasons one of the most notorious heroes of all time would not be on their side. and that's only ONE of the reasons this movie covers

Lois Lane: My point is, I question everything and everyone. You trust everyone and think everyone you've ever met is, like, beautiful.
Superman: Maybe that's the real punk rock.

SUPERMAN (2025) SPOILERS ⚠️⚠️⚠️
hey so um yea so uh yk at the end when lois tells clark that she loves him too and he gives her that stupid big, big boyish grin???? yk that moment? u remember that? i literally want to live in that moment. if i could bottle the feeling of a man being told by the love of his life that she loves him too--that puppy love, giddy feeling that comes from a childish place of pure elation--i wouldn't even sell it or try to turn a profit, i would just live in it

No one is talking about Clark's smile after Lois says she loves him????
It's so sweet and so genuine, literally blinding

The Superman movie really said “the sexiest thing a man can be is kind.” And they were right

I want an excuse to rant about Lois Lane in the new Superman movie so here's a bunch of examples of her character being properly developed, not just a love interest:
She's naturally very cynical
She questions everything, whether that be people or her own opinions and actions.
She doesn't trust people easily or quickly
On some level, she doesn't believe she deserves nice things (oh, my baby)
She's punk rock!
She has a MASSIVE sweet tooth
She can drive
She is very close friends with Jimmy Olsen
She is very affectionate with her friends
She's not as subtle as she thinks she is
She badly needs someone to vent to
Probably a misfit growing up, didn't fit in with family/friends
She's impatient
She lashes out or shuts down when she's scared
She's very good at pushing people's buttons
She's passionate about journalism (writing the truth, informing people) rather than her career
There is wayyyyy more that im not thinking of rn but basically Lois Lane is fucking badass and an awesome character (who for once has been given actual depth! *Fist pump*). I love her.

I’m so glad Tumblr gets me. I just watched Superman (2025) with a bunch of people who’ve never read a single one of his comics and…hoo boy. We had VERY different opinions.
“It wasn’t funny.” Well, I’m sorry you feel that way. It wasn’t TRYING to be. It was already ridiculous by virtue of being comic book-adjacent and I, for one, found it highly enjoyable.
“Why’d he save the squirrel? That was stupid.” That was SUPERMAN. He saves squirrels because they also deserve to be saved. Cynic.
“Why are his parents so old and unattractive? I don’t want to look at that.” Because they’re?? Just people??? The whole point is that Superman was raised by good, simple people you wouldn’t look twice at.
“Why’d they make the American government look so bad.” They really didn’t. The US government didn’t care about Superman so much as his current threat assessment versus public optics and reacted accordingly. They were hands-off about the war because they had nothing to gain from it. It was actually a very neutral depiction of the US government, all things considered.
“It was so corny.” Welcome to comic books. I’m sorry Marvel movies aren’t whimsical enough for you to get that this is quite literally the whole genre.
Anyway, I loved every minute of Superman (2025) and tip my hat to James Gunn. Bravo. You managed to squeeze an entire comic run into a single movie and you did it BEAUTIFULLY. No notes.
#superman 2025#insane that people are saying the movie made the us government look bad#bruh the us government does not need any help with that

Clark Kent pressing Marvelous Ms. Lane to a wall and kissing her like that is sexier than any moment Henry Caville and his hollywood ideal jaw has had on screen ever.

I hardly see anyone talking about Lois in Superman (2025) and that makes me sad. Was skeptical about the casting choice since I only knew Rachel Brosnahan from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but she was perfect and had great chemistry with David Corenswet. Her being exasperated by Clark/Superman's Chronic Hero Syndrome and insistence on believing the best of everyone while simultaneously loving him madly for those exact same traits gave me life.

I love Clark Kent. he’s got a huge heart and he’s caring and funny and considerate. but he’s also stubborn!!! he gets mad! and when something upsets him, he lets himself cry and yell instead of swallowing it all down. he knows what’s right and he’s willing to fight for it and that IS incredibly punk rock of him

I feel like we’re all tapping microphones in an empty gymnasium whenever we post Expedition 33 stuff. Like why the fuck isn’t this game more popular. It’s a French animation and gaming studio. Steam reviews are unanimously overwhelmingly positive. There’s literally a moon lesbian. It has at least 5 overarching themes in it that tumblr has been obsessed with since 2012. Charlie Cox voicing the sweetest, most suicidal man the gaming industry has seen in a long time. It’s about a found family of 30 year olds, a 120 year old, and their communal teenage daughter. Baymax is there and he’s French. Andy Serkis is freaking it sensual style. It has time loops. Doomed family. You can play dress up. The mines run rich with yaoi. Canon implied yuri. Jennifer English is here. Can anyone hear me.
Edit: yall please be chill, this a comedic rant about how I’m surprised there isn’t more fandom culture around something I enjoy 😭

Sciel is some hardcore queen shit.
After she realizes that Verso just essentially deleted her world, she still walks through the barrier which she knows will instantly Gomage her. He just ruined her chances of having her husband back, just made a choice that ends the canvas as a whole, and she still walks to him. She reaches for him, offers him understanding because she knows this isn’t fully what he wants, that it hurts him too. But she pulls away right before they actually touch because she understands but the reality is that he just destroyed everything in her world.
She’s the character that consistently comforts Verso, such as when painted Alicia dies in front of him. There’s multiple more scenes where it’s not a focus point, but you can see her being more attentive to his feelings than the rest.
she straight up tells verso she would sacrifice him in a heartbeat for Pierre (her deceased husband).I love her friendship with Verso, but I literally can not fault a girl for caring for someone but being completely honest that she cares for someone else more. Especially because this is after Verso lied, and she got gomaged.
After defeating the mask keeper, it, in a final ploy, flings masks upon the party to control them. The rest are unable to fight it and are being consumed by the masks representative emotion, but Sciel fights it off after realizing that she has no need of such things because she is unapologetically herself. What a badass bitch. She Uno reverse card this mf because she is the mask. Not to mention the juicy detail of how the axon she specifically defies is the one that represents Verso.
Both possible times she gomages, she closes her eyes and embraces it.
She flirts with both Verso and Gustave but instantly shuts down her flirting when there’s a possibility of Pierre coming back. Loyal queen.
literally her entire backstory regarding Pierre, Esquie, and her baby.
She’s a supportive queen that’ll always be a supportive queen but still keeps her own wit and desires and doesn’t sacrifice those in favor of being the passive nice one.
