The most moderate, nuanced and productive people I have discussed the Israel-Hamas war with have been Jews, Israelis, and people with Palestinian family. Everyone directly affected by this just wants it to stop and to have peace and safety in the region in a way that minimises the casualty count.

The most extreme and performative and vile things I've been told are by people who have no connection to this and like to think they are experts because they have covered adjacent topics during learning, or read stuff online.

If all the randos in the west would just shut up for ten minutes and let those of us actually affected, with an understanding of the history of the land and the culture and the generational trauma experienced by Jews and Palestinians alike talk, we might actually have a chance to salvage this and stop it spiraling

About the Palestinian families that the occupation has displaced from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem since 2008

And the videos, from the movie “Umm Kamel’s Tent” (produced in 2010), which tells the story of the neighborhood and documents the first attempts to displace the people of Neighborhood 1

In November 2008, the occupation seized the home of Hajja Umm Kamel’s family, erecting a tent that then became a shrine for solidarity activists, despite it being demolished several times. The launch of the popular campaign for Jerusalem as the capital of Arab culture in 2009 was scheduled to be announced from the tent, but the occupation raided the place and arrested a number of solidarity activists.

On April 17, 2009, Al-Maqdisi Maher Hanoun handcuffed himself, defying the occupation’s decision to confiscate his home and displace him and his family..

On August 2, 2009, settlers forcefully and under the protection of occupation soldiers seized the homes of 55 Palestinians from the Al-Ghawi and Hanoun families..

Ever since watching the Alabasta arc in summer 2023, I saw Vivi as middle eastern. Alabasta/Arabasta; it didnt matter, but I loved that arc because she shared an ethnicity with me!! The way she fought for her country from Crocodile who was a dictator when the rightful king was Vivis father reminded me of the current events happening in Palestine, and I want my art to contribute to the resistance for Palestine through the One Piece fandom.
