Record of my attempt to seek crocodile data:

I spent like an hour at the mercy of my ADHD trying to figure out if the post about “Nile crocodiles make burrows 40 feet deep and share them” is true or not

Here is what I learned.

•The book “Crocodiles: Their Natural History, Folklore, and Conservation.” (by Guggisberg, C.A.W. in 1972. ISBN 978-0-7153-5272-4.) is not available on any website I could find.

•The Wikipedia page for the Nile crocodile includes references from The Guinness books (multiple references), Fox News, and an Angelfire website that was accessed in 2010 and created in 2003.

Conclusion: I don’t know 🤷

Closing Comment: The Wikipedia page for the Nile Crocodile needs some passionate and dutiful attention.

Hi again! I'm the one who asked if I could ask about systems and such, because I was looking at genders and stuff on your page that I think fit me. I just read a lot on the second link you gave, and I'm still very confused. I might not be understanding correctly, but it sounded like multiples and such are basically the same person, but that person basically has broken apart in a way. I'm unsure if any of this fits my personal situation. I also saw this: "Multiplicity is only one framework among many, if it doesn’t fit or isn’t helping, keep looking! There are many other ways of understanding your experiences; spiritual, social, mood related, biological, and so on. If the idea of multiplicity fits but the clinical framework doesn’t, you may want to explore alternative frameworks, or simply ignore everyone else’s ideas and start to develop your own!"

But I'm still confused. Is there a way that I could talk to you about this and it not be posted to your page? I might have to get personal to explain my situation, and I am not too comfortable with all of Tumblr reading it.

Week 51, Day 350.

It took me a long time to sit down and motivate myself to write this post today. It’s been one of those quite tough and tiring weeks, and it’s been one of those ‘I can’t get out of bed’ kind of days. In fact, I was supposed to go into work today, but it just didn’t happen. The week started off with a wonderful, but long trip to Edinburgh for a site visit and company meeting with Scottish Water. Overall, it was a successful trip, although we did find a few issues with the site that need sorting before we can start sampling, which is a little annoying as I am very quickly running out of time; minor bump in the road. However, going away gave me a great opportunity to bond with two of my supervisors as we spent 10 hours on a train together and went out for a lovely meal on Monday. It turns out they think that my writing is a lot better than most of the students they come across, which was a great confidence boost considering I deem writing my biggest weakness. On another note, I bloody love Scotland and hope to move there one day.

Upon coming back home and watching another episode of the Great British Bake Off with my partner, I crashed out for a total of 5 hours before my cat, Buttons, woke me up... I could tell that he wasn’t his normal self as he was trying desperately to hide under the bed and was hissing and screaming whenever I tried to come near him. I further noticed that he couldn’t lift his tail and that its base was swollen. Without further ado I called the vets and booked him in for the same day. Unfortunately, I had to leave him for a couple of hours to attend a meeting at work, but rushed home quickly to take him to his appointment. He was in so much pain that the vet had to get a nurses assistance to hold Buttons whilst he tried to establish what was wrong. Initially, it was assumed that Buttons had fractured his tail, or sustained a serious injury thereabouts. We decided to give him some strong painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs and monitor him overnight before taking him back to the vets the following morning. Luckily, the swelling had gone down overnight and he could lift his tail but was evidently still in a lot of pain. Upon shaving the fur around the affected area we discovered that Buttons has an extremely nasty wound, which had quickly become infected. He is now on antibiotics, painkillers, and bed rest for the foreseeable future. This isn’t the first time he has had an injury, but never like this. I have never cried at the vets before, but seeing him in so much pain was unbearable. Thankfully, he seems to be feeling okay (see photo below). One of the reasons I wanted to write this blog is to talk honestly about how unforeseen circumstances in your personal life can impact your ability to do work. Because lets admit it, s**t happens, and what happened to Buttons has really f***ed me up this week. I haven’t been able to focus and on Friday dropped everything to go for a hike in the Peak District to take my mind off things. It helped temporarily and I went into work yesterday, but only for a half a day and today was definitely a write off. I still need to finish the final version of my confirmation report, which I need to submit on Wednesday, so I better get my s**t together tomorrow. Apologies for the negativity and swearing in this post, it’s been a very stressful, exhausting, and upsetting week both at work and home. Furthermore, we may have to cancel our long weekend away if I can’t take Buttons with us as I’m not leaving him behind in this condition. On another note, my anxiety has gotten worse and I have decided to limit my caffeine intake to just 1-2 cups of tea a day for a little while; wish me luck. I hope you have a better week than I did. Writing/Art Update 6/11/2021:

FOR ONCE, I had a respectable week of writing!!

Knocked out 7153 words on a little in love, (act iii currently up to 53,928). I went back to my old writing method of “write the thing that’s easiest to write”. I do not worry much about beginning or ending scenes, I just slap TODO’s on there to be cleaned up later. I definitely turned some sort of corner on this, where am close enough to done that it actually feels like a thing I can finish if I just work on it, instead of this interminable, Sisyphean task?? Anyway, there’s still a lot to go, but I am feeling good, let’s see how long this lasts.

On top of that, I got broadsided this week with the urge to Write an Adult Fanfic. This happens a couple of times a year now, and I’m sorry to make you look at a Penny Arcade, but it’s literally like this:

except it’s “DICKS! CUNNINGULUS!” This isn’t even some new idea I just had, it’s one that’s been rattling around in my head for a while, but I guess it’s what we’re doing now. It’s 1995 words at the moment and no one even has their pants off yet. The way I write porn is absolutely deranged, by the way. It’s like a weird normal sitcom story with a bunch of banter and cute jokes and then SOME VERY EXPLICIT STUFF and then, like, some tender, feelsy ending. I try to make my characters sexy, but I never bother to not make them doofuses. I could read some writing advice on how to make my writing more efficient or how to actually structure an erotic story, but I’d rather just do this for me and the rest of you just have to deal with it because it’s not like there’s some sort of surfeit of Renruki smut on ao3.

Anyway, sometimes these fizzle out, so don’t get super excited. I’m kinda ridiculous right now-- I don’t like to write smut while my children are awake, so there’s, like, Daytime Polynya, where I work on Renji and Ichigo doing boys-being-boys shit in a little in love, and then... Polynya After Dark. Everyone’s going camping without me next weekend (I think I may have said last week that it was this weekend, but it’s actually next weekend), so that should be a Good Opportunity to work on it.

I did not do much drawing this week. I have a piece I’m working on, but I’m not super into it, and since I was being productive on the writing front, I haven’t been sweating it. Maybe I’ll get back to it next week. Maybe I’ll give up on it. We’ll see.

Almost forgot. If you missed it, I felt bad about not posting anything in a million years, so I posted the first chapter of an old summer hockey meet-cute AU I wrote ages ago. (no, I have no plans to continue it, unfortunately, this is all there is)

I also spent the week obsessively devouring Harrow the Ninth, which might be the best book I have ever read. I have mentioned this before, but I am very sensitive to body horror. I was pretty nervous when I read Gideon the Ninth last year, because I knew it was about necromancers and I get super grossed out by that shit, but it turned out to not be that bad, and the book was incredibly. Harrow... is a different book. I only say this as a testament to how good this book is that I made it through pages and pages of stuff that made me want to ralph. If you love an unreliable narration as much as I do and an engagement of stories on a meta level, you owe it to yourself to read this book. (Also, if you love bones, it’s a no-brainer). I’ve been having trouble explaining this because my husband and best friend whom I scream about this book with do not read fanfiction, but the story has an essential fanfiction sensibility, in terms of the author Doing What She Wants. Harrow engages with itself in the way that the very, very top tier of fanfiction overthinks a work that does not deserve to be overthought, and creates something sublime, except that it’s all contained in a single work. Anyway, it’s real good and also very gay, again in that very fanficcy “everyone is gay because why not?”

I always forget that reading takes actual time, so it’s extra surprising that I had a good writing week, but also, getting hype for a book or tv show is very, very good for my moth-eaten brain, so maybe that had something to do with my productivity.
