It's the first anniversary since I began planning The Crow Cries at Midnight, my Persona 4 Akechi AU. It's also Pride Month. So, first we have a grumpy Goro dealing with some light ribbing about Teddie's contribution to his gay awakening. The other two are patron-requested doodles about tween!Makoto, as she'll be appearing in the August arc with Sae and her father. The older pic (right) was when I hadn't quite locked down a look for her yet. Teddie sure is... Teddie, isn't he?

Fuuka and Yusuke know each other because they both dive

and they go to the same pool to train

Chie, Ryuji and Haru know each other quite well since they meet at world championships and continue to talk outside

Naoto and Goro have competed against each other so many times for top spot (so much so that Goro literally admires him so much)

Sae mentors both goro and koto but more so goro since she used to shoot (skeet shooting)

(sae got injured and it damaged her shoulder pretty badly and so she couldn’t compete leading her to take up being a coach instead)

Akira admires Mitsuru so much (he’s got her autograph plastered on his wall) He’s also trained with her once before (she becomes a mentor figure to him along with Zenkichi)

Shinjiro and Chie also kickbox together (although for chie it’s more of a hobby)

But then Shinjiro and Ann met because of taekwondo (shinji is like her mentor pretty much)

Yukari and Yukiko are teammates in archery

Kanji and Akihiko have passed on tips to each other (they go to the same gym)

Yu, Yusuke and Fuuka met because of the pool they train at (yu actually swims but he met them because they were watching him compete at a meet once)

ALSO!

Rise knows the 3 of them because of her synchronised swimming!

Here's a post about my first au of 2024

P4 parents of P5 au (this needs a shorter title goddamn)

So it's. The Phantom Thieves are raised by the Investigation Team. Simple as that

Yu and Yosuke adopt Akira at age 5, after his parents give him up for being too much trouble. He loves his aunt Nanako, and uncle Teddie, and will eventually inherit the Narukami Family Secret; the rizz.

Chie and Yukiko end up raising two thieves, Ann and Ryuji. Ryuji's father is in jail for killing his mom, and originally the Takamaki's adopted him. Then, they got too busy with work. Chie and Yukiko fostered the two together for a year before officially adopting them at 3. They know they're not related but they're still brother and sister, and Ryuji dyes his hair this time to match his sister, after other Inaba kids make comments about her "foreigner hair"

Kanji is with Naoki in this one. You know, Saki's brother. The King's of the shopping district foster little Haru after her father is caught in an insider trading scandal, and she's adopted officially at 4 after 2 years. She's always got the cutest little dresses, which Kanji makes for her all the time. And, Naoki with his curly hair making sure Haru's curls are well cared for

Then. I had this in another au but. Naoto and Rise adopt baby Makoto, which is the incident that sparks the mass child acquiring among their friends. Sae visits from the city where she's studying, but yeah.

And, Wakaba and Sojiro? They run away before Wakaba is killed. They bring little Futaba to Inaba, move when she's like, 4, and find little orphan Yusuke along the way. They take in Goro after finding out he's Futaba's half brother when he's 12, so they've got the most Thieves Per Household (TPH)

It's got so many good little bits for it. Childhood Friends phantom thieves, the IT watching their kids grow up and be besties too, and. EVERYONE HAVING GOOD FAMILYS DAMNIT THEY DESERVE TO HAVE A GOOD HOME TO RETURN TO EACH NIGHT

Now, some little things I have for this au

Ryuji and Makoto were on the same youth soccer team in elementary school. Chie would pick Makoto up and Rise would drop Ryuji off after, and it starts the life long Jock Friends thing they have going. When they're at Yasogami, after sports clubs they go up to the roof and ramble about their gay crushes together

Haru and Akira are both part timers at Leblanc, which opens in the shopping district in one of the empty lots in the North end. Kanji and Naoki were betting about which of their shops she'd want to work at and both lost

Ann joining the Yasogami drama club, crushing on Shiho and so upset that she's in Ryuji's class instead of Ann's, being unafraid to tell her parents about liking girls because. They're lesbians, Harold

Goro, newly adopted, emo twelve year old, and. Futaba (10) and Yusuke (11) stare at him and decide that despite him being the oldest, they will call him Little Brother. Cause. He's the newest.

Sleepovers at the Inn, playing down by the Samegawa, just. So many good things. Comfort au.

Baby akechi makes friends and gets a family and breaks the plot in half and it’s great I love it it’s very good Id reccomend. We love to see a 13 year old who’s stubborn as shit get into situations

i really dont know how to explain to you that it is canonically in character for narukami to look at two people murdered, all his friends nearly murdered, his goddamn cousin/sister figure nearly murdered, and still say "nah but adachis too important to me ill just sweep this under the rug for him" like how much more whipped could you be bro

“...Dad? What are you two doing?”

Aki glances up from the pile of dust he’s sweeping up. Shinji pauses his gathering of items to look at Ken and Goro where they stand in the doorway.

“Hey, you two. We’re cleaning up. Guests are coming over tomorrow,” Aki replies, a smile on his face. Shinji forces himself to continue cleaning up. If he spends any more time listening to Aki, he’ll forget what he was doing.

“Guests? Oh. Oh! OH!” Ken suddenly bounces up, a grin spreading across his face. “You mean-? They agreed? They’re all actually coming!?”

Goro looks at his brother, scrunching his nose. “Who’s coming?”

Ken pauses his bouncing to look at Goro. “SEES! Uh- a group we were a part of two years ago.” He gestures to himself, Aki, and Shinji awkwardly.

Goro raises an eyebrow, walking into the living room to fold the blankets scattered around. “A group? Of what kind?” He asks.

“Specialised Extracurricular Execution Squad. A Shadow-killing group formed by Mitsuru-san a while ago,” Aki says, sitting down on the sofa.

Goro frowns, but says nothing as he joins Aki. Shinji and Ken do the same, all cuddled up to each other. Goro is leaning against Aki near the armrest, Ken is squashed comfortably between Aki and Shinji. “I think you’ll like Makoto-san, Goro. You kinda act like him,” Ken mumbles, voice slowing. Goro huffs, cuddling further into Aki. “I doubt it,” he mumbles, yet it holds no weight. No malice.

Shinji just smiles. “Don’t worry. It’ll be okay.”

Goro says nothing. Neither does Ken, nor Aki. When Shinji checks, they’ve all fallen asleep.

He decides then and there that this is how life is supposed to be.

This is how it’s supposed to be.

i know this is probably not your intent but the fact you keep repeating "this is how its supposed to be" makes me feel like this is a maruki's reality situation and i am NOT ok if thats the case.

anyway. the goro meeting the SEES?!?! I AM SHAKING YOU BY THE SHOULDERS I NEED THEM TO MEET SO BAD!!!!! GRRRRRR!!!! mav feed me until persona 5 arena comes out. timeskip p3 meets p5.... im so excited im jumping off the walls

Because I don't know if ill ever get to write this ai and I don't want this scene to be lost to be never read (especially because this occurs until a long way into the story) you get this brief scene of my all persona au:

"There will be a bathroom in your room where you can clean yourself if you so wish" Kirijo started saying to the man.

The man, Tatsuya, turned to her and if Goro thought Akiras face had been impossible to read those first months after they had met it was nothing compared to this.

Tatsuyas face was rigid like a stone as he nodded. It was as if after all these years the man's face had forgotten how to make the simplest of microexpressions.

"But before you go I need to ask, what can you tell us about this Philemon?", Kirijo asked, as always down to bussines.

"I punched him in the face. He trapped me in a post apocalyptic dimension crowded with shadows", the man said impassive. His voice, as his face, not showing a single trace of any kind inflexion despite the severity of his words.

The group exchanged glances between each other waiting for the man to elaborate. He seemed to think it wasn't necessary so he didn't.

After a long moment of waiting when it became obvious the man wasnt going to say anything else Kirijo spoke again

"Is... that so?" The CEO continued raising an eyebrow, trying to salvage what was clearly turning to be an unsalvageable situation. “Dont you have anything else to say?”

Tatsuyas stared back at her in what Goro guessed was his way of carefully thinking over through his next words.

"He's a little bitch", was all he added before leaving the room effectively leaving them all in stunned silence.

“Err...You must excuse him,” Aki- Maki (Godammit Goro get it through your thick head already) said apologetically, "Tatsuya-kun has never been good with words"

'No shit Sherlock', Goro thought to himself biting the insides oh his cheek to keep himself from voicing his thoughts.

The Dissapearence of Goro Akechi by Kupowonders - Probably my favourite fic ever, honestly- it's like. derailing the plot of persona 5 post-medjed thanks to the persona 4 accomplice ending years prior. (So, spoilers for p4 in that, too) it's. very good.

Marigolds by Colbub - Akechi gets ng+'ed to right when he started working for Shido, and has to take a good look at the future to come and be like "Aight how the fuck do I fix this". Fun times!

Daredevil, You've hit the wall by ez_cookie. Essentially, p5 Strikers but Sumire and Goro get to be in on the fun, too. And, there's a direct sequel currently being updated that's a similar premise for p5 Tactica. very very good stuff

A Tale of Two Tricksters by Zoe2k8 - Murder boyfriends! ...sort of? Angst! Angst and murder boyfriends! An oversimplification, obviously, but I'm not kidding when I say this fic is amazing and is also over a million words holy shit-

Throw away your mask by MollyPollyKinz - Another ng+ situation for Akechi, but this time the poor guy gets thrown all the way to 2009. You can imagine how well that goes (For the audience, less so for Akechi himself.)

The Crow Cries at Midnight by Dorked. hehe this one is very fun. Basically, a series of coincedencs causes Akechi to get thrown into the plot of persona 4. No time travel here! Just a grumpy 12/13 year-old Akechi trying to solve a murder mystery

The entire Tales of Chaos series by Eternalmomentss (The first one is called Like sand between your fingers) Very very good stuff! Something of a character study, I would say, of Ren and Goro. Plus, all the funky plot stuff that comes from trickster-typical bad luck and poor descision making. I really love this series hehe

You have a beautiful smile underneath that mask by Saposaki - Akechi has a crush on Akira and Joker has a crush on Crow. No one is aware of the other's secret identity. Dramatic irony and hilarity ensues.

MASTERMiND by StumblingBlock - No Metaverse au where Akira really doesn't want to follow in the footsteps of his crime family, and fails miserably

Rose and Rot by SixteenJuniper - Read this!! I'm serious!! "A fun fantasy adventure" don't listen to Juniper. You'll be in tears by chapter two. (/pos, of course) (Seriously this fic is incredible)

Redressing the Balance by Convocated - ...almost a ng+? Ng+, in the sense that shuake are getting funky visions that are very quickly derailing the standard plot of p5r. This causes problems of the "Someone get the popcorn and maybe the tissues" variety

She's got a heartbeat full of lead (And she's aiming straight for the head) by Dots - This fic haunts me, often. In the best way possible, of course; but seriously, read it

Cracked into by SydneyHorses - Ren makes bad descisions and it becomes Akechi's problem. 2/2 timeloop, perhaps most notably featuring HaruGoro friendship! Love love love this fic

Chie and Ryuji have been mates for a long time and started racing in the UnderWorld at the same time hence why they exchange parts and gossip frequently

Ann knows about everything that goes on at meets and she will spill random facts every now and again

akihiko and shinji have a huge rivalry on and off the racetrack (mitsuru is usually the one who has to cool things down)

Rise is mainly there for the car aesthetic, she and Ann will spend hours and hours talking about how they plan to paint their next car

everyone knows Yukiko’s car because of the bright pink blossoms painted on it and also because of the really loud rock music she plays

futaba and fuuka sometimes pass information back and forth with each other so everyone gets information quickly and easily
