Hmmmmm looking back on this I wanna make. Some small changes

Hermit is Teddie now. He's just Yosuke's foreign exchange student "brother" who wears the Junes mascot costume. People are weirdly honest with the bear and he wants to help but doesn't know how?? So Kanji helps him help people

The Star. Young Joker. He's got a costume similar to Joker's, but a little more exaggerated, like a TV character. He'd be like Ken's age compared to the group, and go through the whole "who am I" thing. At the end of it all, when Kanji goes back to living with his brother, Daidara takes in lil Joker, who's chosen his own name

Namatame is the real Fool here. Idk I felt like switching it up a little.

Death Sayoko, who smokes on her breaks and hastily puts them out when Kanji goes to sit with her, tells him it's bad for him to be near her. Every patient she gets close to passes. Slowly accepts she's not the reason they're dying, but helping them live that little bit longer or something idk

Anyways. I'm going to talk about my first P4 arcana swap, known as the Lovers Naoto au

The end of this will have a list of the Arcana incase things aren't clear

Kanji Tatsumi has been living with his older brother since his dad died and mom entered assisted living, but when his brother has to go overseas for a year for his job, Kanji is sent to live in their old hometown with an old family friend

Daidara isn't bothered having Kanji around, as long as he doesn't act out. He doesn't mind what he does, though when the kid shows interest in crafting, although with fabric, he's happy to spend the odd night teaching him about the value his labour and love places in his products

He's only a first year, and ends up sitting beside this bored girl with pigtails. When he compliments her nails and asks if she did them herself, well, they click. She's used to just being hit on, and he's happy to have a friend who, gets him. They walk home together, though they pause when they see police tape

Two boys are walking home the same way, one tries to ask Rise out again, and fails. The other apologizes, introduces himself as Yu Narukami, and the other as Yosuke Hanamura. Yu's uncle shooes them all away, and Yosuke mutters about having to go play manager for the night

A few days go by, and a third year dies. Apparently, Saki Konishi worked with Yosuke. Yu gets worried. Kanji's hand goes through a TV, and Rise and Yu watch him try to punch a TV in Junes

They all fall through.

They wander around, find a haunting room, and when they make their way back to the start, a Bear. Teddie let's them leave, and they don't exactly plan to go back

Only, Rise insists they do. They find a glass version of her in there, who talks about how she despises how they look and talk about her. That she wants to run away and be nobody

Kanji defeats a monster, and Rise gets her Persona too. He hugs her tightly, his chair and her crossbow tossed aside for a moment

Yosuke goes missing.

On TV the night before, Kanji sees him. He's dressed like a king almost, talks about how for once, everyone's going to see him and do what he wants!

So they go back into the TV. Yu runs off ahead, and when they catch up with him, his shadow is there, spouting that deep down, Yosuke disgusts him. How he hates the way he talks about their classmates, and how he keeps him around to look Better

Yu admits, after, that it's partially true. But he doesn't fully hate him, cause he's been in love with his best friend for a few years. Kanji and Rise pat his shoulders

They do save Yosuke, who laments not being saved by a beautiful girl. Yu volunteers to carry him home. Neither talk about how Yu interrupted the shadow of his best friend to shout about how he cared how Yosuke felt, he'd willingly give up his nights to help if needed

Things are normal for a little while.

Kanji makes some friends. Naoki Konishi, who skips school sometimes. Yumi Ozawa, who barges into the Home Ec club to demand they help the Drama club with costumes. Yu's cousin Nanako, who loves the dolls he makes. Ai Ebihara, who's lost and doesn't know who she really is. Kou Ichijo, a second year who doesn't understand why reading is so hard. Daisuke Nagase, who wants to be a good leader.

He works at the hospital where his dad died. An old lady talks to him about her life, and a nurse is, weird.

Yu and Yosuke mention a classmate of theirs that they're worried for. Yukiko Amagi was on the news for getting into a fight with some news crew trying to get footage of the "haunted" Amagi Inn.

Yukiko appears on TV. She's, in a white dress. Calls herself the ghost of the Inn, daring any "suitors" to end her grief and arrive for their Wedding

Before she disappeared, they saw her talk to a girl none of them knew. They didn't hear the conversation, but Yukiko yelled at them and they ran

They save her. She tags along for the investigation

Then, Rise shows up to homeroom one morning and freaks out. Her favourite idol group, ROYAL, is taking a break. And her favourite member, Prince, the sole boy, is coming to Inaba

She drags the boys and Yukiko to the bookstore in the shopping district to try to see if they can meet him, and they barely get a moment to chat with a quiet, well mannered Naoto Shirogane. He looks tired, worn down.

The girl that spoke to Yukiko is outside talking to the cops. Chie Satonaka, a young action movie star, who used to live in Inaba. Here to study how the cops handle the case for her next role

Naoto goes missing, appears on TV. He's dressed in the outfits his female counterparts wear on stage, and it's jarring to look at. He invites the viewers to stick around to learn the truth behind their so-called "Prince"

So the gang goes to save him, but they need more clues. His fellow idols appear on day 2, and offer little bits about him. One stays behind, and softly admits that Naoto's been struggling with his appearance and identity for a while. The idol, Knight, begs them to find him

And they do. Shadow Naoto outs him as trans, and once defeated, Naoto shakily tells them about how his break is because a camera was found in the girl's change rooms. His agency holds his transition hostage in his contract. He fears returning to the stage as is

More plot shit happens. You know the drill. Then, Chie tries to talk to them, and Yukiko kinda, blows her off. Tells her this is real to them, not some, role

Chie does an interview. Goes missing. Her shadow is dressed like a kung fu hero, calls herself a fraud

It's revealed the reason she came home was because she met her idol, who called her some nasty names. Said she was making a mockery of martial arts. She remembered being a kid and promising to be Yukiko's knight, and how as kids they wanted to get married one day

The timing was all wrong, and she softly confesses that she knows her idol was right. She's, nothing, really. But, she wants to help them find the killer. So she can actually do something

I have more of the Okujima Fake Dating thing

(summary; Makoto and Haru are uni roommates (and friends w/ benefits but that's not something they address) and to avoid her relatives finding her a partner, Haru lies and tells them she's gay (not a lie) and has a girlfriend she's serious with (mega lie))

Like. Makoto takes this job so seriously

She asks Haru for the guest list and photos so she can remember who is who and she studies, and by the time they arrive she's figured out which relatives to bow to, or shake hands, or offer a fist bump

Haru: you didn't have to do all that,

Makoto: any partner of yours should put in this much effort. Otherwise, they're not worthy of calling you theirs

The room booked for them has one bed, a real nice shower, and a jet tub. They go to bath houses together with their friends, so it's not as awkward as either assumed when they spend a night soaking in the tub together, jets turned on the lowest setting. It's even less awkward when they share the bed, since, well, they've done worse. And besides, Haru has learned over the last two years that she's hella touch starved and has abandonment issues, and Makoto? A very cuddly sleeper. It's, almost like they were designed to work well together (ehe)

Haru's relatives also adore Makoto. Both as a person, and for Haru. They all met Haru after her dad died, before she went off and made friends in uni. They met sad high school Haru. And she's so different from the lady in front of them, not hiding the little snort in her laughter as one of her cousins close to her age teaches Makoto a goofy dance, and she makes it look sillier with how stiff and awkward she is

Haru's cousins from her aunt are three boys. One is married with two kids, one is getting married, and one is her age. The middle and youngest get along with her best, the youngest being a musician, the middle a dancer, and the oldest a gym teacher, former athlete

She's got twin cousins from Uncle 1, her mom's twin. Both just younger than her. A boy, who's going to be an aerospace engineer, and a girl, who wants to be a lawyer. Overly smart little seniors

And uncle two? Two daughters. One older, one younger. The older one is married and about to have a son, and the younger one just started a business ethics degree

There are two more aunts. One, married no kids, the other? Single as hell

Haru's grandparents are there too, and they love Makoto so much. They missed out on so much of Haru's life cause they lost contact with their daughter after she married Kunikazu, and, they're just happy to see she found someone that's as respectful and loving as Makoto

Makoto: do you think your family would mind if I wore a suit?

Haru: nope. My aunt is gay, after all. Her wife will be wearing one too

Makoto: seriously? That's so cool!

Haru: mm! They're the mothers of the groom, so you'll see plenty of them this trip

Makoto: amazing,

Oldest cousin: hey, Haru? Can you watch these two for a moment? I have to go talk to my Mama

Haru: oh- Uhm, okay?

By the wedding itself they're fully together. Acting the exact same, but they acknowledge why they stare at each other so tenderly

They'd call the others, their friends from uni, from time to time

The opening of it would be Haru having to admit she fucked up to her bestie Ryuji, and Ann

All head in arms, asking either of them to help her out and Ryuji says he would but he's not exactly a gal, and Ann is spending the summer with her fiancee in Europe, checking out venues for a wedding

Ryuji: why don't you ask Makoto? She's single, and your roommate. It'd be way less awkward than asking anyone else

Haru, not willing to admit the "Friends with Benefits" thing: ...do I really have no other option??

Ann: there's Futaba-

Haru: ugh. I'll ask Mako-chan,

Makoto keeps panic calling Joker or Yusuke after things on the trip like: DOES THIS MEAN SHE LIKES ME??? DO I LIKE HARU?? SEND AN AMBULANCE SHE KISSED ME AND IT FELT REAL I THINK IM DYING

At one point Goro picks up and just growls at her to "woman up, go the hell to sleep, or die. Whichever I don't care stop calling my boyfriend at 2 am"

No weird jealousy plot either just. Them realizing on their own

Like. The way Haru asks, too

She comes home, finds Makoto cooking and humming, a box from the campus bakery on the table, and Haru knows her roommate picked up her favourites, probably just because she *noticed* how off she's been, and. She knows Ryuji is right. Makoto is the best choice to help her with this fuck up,

She walks up behind her, wraps her arms around her hips, grunts in a way that's nearly a whine, plants her head between those strong shoulder blades

"Hey, welcome home, Haru. How was your day? You had your advanced statistics class today, right?"

"Mm. Mako-chan, I, have to ask for your help."

"What's up? Oh, is it that time? I can get the hot water bottle, run out to get more pain meds for you-"

"I need you to pretend to be my girlfriend."

"Huh? Haru, what-"

"My cousin is getting married. And, I may have lied to my grandparents, about dating someone, so they wouldn't try to set me up with someone. And, they want to meet her. The tickets and hotel are paid for already, just, I don't want to have to tell them I lied,,"

"Well, I wasn't planning to go anywhere but visit my sister, so I'm free for it."

"What."

"Yeah, tell me the details after dinner? The ramen is nearly done."

Makoto is secretly having a mini panic attack inside

She texts Yusuke later like "I CANT SAY MUCH BUT GOD IM GAY"

And Yusuke just texts back a photo a counter on his wall that reads "Makoto says she's gay; 1026"

The wedding is in Okinawa, where the bride is from, so they have to bring bathing suits for the beach, and, Haru does ask Makoto to help her pick which one to bring

Makoto sits there, face red, hands digging into her knees as Haru makes comments about one of them maybe making her look more chubby, maybe she should stick to a one piece-

Makoto: you're gorgeous. Every part of you. If you like how it looks on you, screw what anyone says

Haru: ...but. do you like it?

and they both laugh, cause they've known this, it's a bit they do, and Haru nestles back under Makoto's chin, and they go back to snuggling. They're in Makoto's bed in their apartment. It's later the night Haru asked, and, okay yeah they maybe did *it* again, but. Things feel weirdly right between them as they lie there together, softly talking out the details of the plan

Like. There's a reason so many people already thought they were dating, and why it sells so perfectly to Haru's family

So, when there's a cousin wedding during their summer break between second and third year uni, Haru has no choice but to ask Makoto, someone she claims is just a friend but she often sleeps with, to pretend to be her long term girlfriend

It's through the trip that they slowly start to piece together that maybe they were just missing the verbal confirmation. That maybe they'd been essentially together all along

Just. Double Major Sociology and Kinesiology Makoto, with the punk meets dark academia look, who could be a lady killer if she wasn't extremely bad at socializing, and, Haru's good friend and roommate

She keeps common spaces clean but her room is cluttered and looks like a mild whirlwind swept through. She wears boxers instead of women's underwear. She's part of the uni kickboxing club, and competes in Aikido on a pro level, but she says she does it as a side thing. To keep active and to keep her competitive streak down

Makoto, who has a worn leather jacket in her closet she won't wear, cause it's her dad's. She has her own, a sleek black leather, and she sat like an eager puppy as Haru taught her how to hand stitch patches to it. The first one she added was a lesbian flag, before calling her sister all proud

Makoto, who's had three girlfriends in two years, but doesn't know why she never connected to them. She doesn't let herself think about why she falls into Haru's bed and arms so easily instead

She doesn't drink, but has an energy drink addiction for studying. Doesn't consider that there might be something more going on. Doesn't sing along to her rock music, but drums along, tapping pencils as she reads, making little "tcsh" noises for cymbals

And, god, Haru thinks of all this as she lies beside a less than dressed Makoto in their shared room on the summer trip. She looks over at Makoto, who's holding her close despite both being sweaty and their skin will stick weird when they wake up-

But. She's noticed. Makoto never looks that content when she's not wrapped up with Haru

They kiss easily to fool the family. Makoto kisses at her forehead and cheeks like it's an instinct to show affection to Haru, and Haru? She loves how warm and squirmy Makoto gets at a little peck to her shoulder, or jaw. How it makes both of them feel like teens in their first relationshio

The friends with benefits to fake dating to dating au that's much sweeter than those tend to be. Cause it doesn't fall apart first

And, gosh, Haru in this

Her dad's been dead since she was 17. She's been free for years now. She's reconnected with her mom's family, and has made so many friends in uni

She's had one boyfriend, two girlfriends, and, one one night stand. She's still trying to figure out how it all works, and is convinced it has nothing to do with the increasing dreams of her roommate she occasionally sleeps with

She's cottage core if cottage core loved slasher films and black metal and axe throwing. She likes some of the pastel goth aesthetic, but doesn't consider herself in that scene. She's gone to clubs but prefers going to local shows in dive bars with her roommate, where they mosh a bit and then end up dancing on each other, more sober than they're letting on, leading to wandering hands, and mouths-

Culinary and economics major, who hates business students with a passion. She still tells people she's bi, though she's starting to believe that's untrue, as she examines her feelings for the official partners she's had

She has stolen clothes from her best friend, Ryuji, and from Makoto. She likes picking out nice underwear for herself, and giggles at how "cute" blushy Makoto is when she drags her into the store with her while she buys more sets
