I find it funny that all canon new year celebrations have something go wrong:

-s5 finale was during a new year's celebrations. Lloyd started the year by getting sent to literal hell and then losing his dad. Cole started the year dead. Wu started the year losing his first student. Stiix residents started the year by getting their home destroyed. Nya,the only lucky one, started the year by unlocking her true potential

-s8 started with new year celebrations. Lloyd started his year by encountering SoG. That boy cannot have holidays off

(Also the implications that the events between the end of s5 and s7 take a full year wit the end of s7 being close to the end of the year since there is another year time-skip between s7 and s8 and the latter starts with the new year celebrations)
