Beating Procrastination: Why We Delay Things and How to Stop
Tumblr media
Procrastination is the state of delaying things that must be done. It's like saying, "I'll do it later," when we're very much aware that we should do it now. However, why do we proactively procrastinate seeing that there are thousands of responsibilities on our to-do list? Now, it is probably because we are afraid of failing or we want everything to be perfect or we don't feel like doing it.
The problem is that when we postpone, we are really trying not to face the stress that we feel when we have a task that we should do. Instead of long-term aspirations, we’re compromising for an instant remedy. Nevertheless, there are ways to scrape procrastination off.
First off, it's important to figure out why we're procrastinating. Then, we can break our tasks into smaller, easier steps. This makes them feel less overwhelmed. We can also try setting goals that are realistic and easy to manage.
It also helps to have a plan and stick to it. We can use tricks like setting timers or making to-do lists. And if we have someone to hold us accountable, like a friend or family member, it can make a big difference.
Finally, it's about being kind to ourselves. We all procrastinate sometimes, and that's okay. We just need to keep trying and not give up. With a bit of patience and practice, we can beat procrastination and get things done.

link click ost - where does it play?
i'm a little diseased so i went through the whole of link click season 1 so that i could make a list of where each song on the ost plays. i thought i'd share it in case anyone else is curious too~!
some things to note first:
be aware of spoilers!!
if you'd prefer to listen to it in a playlist, here's a spotify version :)
here's a youtube version too :) - be aware that the songs won't repeat so they'll only be in order of the first time they're played bc youtube won't let me add the same song more than once :(
if you notice any mistakes or errors then please let me know!
feel free to add things in the reblogs/comments/tags <3
i'll be using the chinese versions of the songs!
i'm working on doing season 2, episode 5.5, the extras and daily life in lightime but i did this to procastinate studying for my exams so i'll do those soon? (i recently finished season 2 so i need to emotionally recover before i rewatch it again bc damn it did a number on me)

Why we procastinate and how to beat it?
Procrastination is a common struggle that affects everyone at some point. It involves delaying an important work project, putting off studying, or avoiding chores, we often find ourselves postponing tasks even when we know it’s counterproductive. But why do we do it? And more importantly, how can we overcome it?
Why do we procastinate?
Procrastination sometimes is not just about being lazy or having poor time-managment, it is deeper than that—it’s a complex psychological behavior. Some of the main reasons people procrastinate include:
1.Lack of motivation:
Sometimes, tasks feel boring, tedious, or irrelevant, leading to a lack of motivation. When a task doesn’t seem meaningful or rewarding, it’s easier to put it off in favor of more enjoyable activities.
2.Fear of failure:
Many people procrastinate because they fear they won’t do a task well enough. This perfectionism can lead to avoidance behavior, where delaying the task feels like a way to protect oneself from potential disappointment.
3.Overwhelm:
When a task is too challenging to tackle, some people instead of breakng it into smaller, manageable steps they give up alltogether and put off the work to do it later.
4.Instant gratification:
The brain loves instant and immediate rewards,it is wired to seek pleasure. In the age of technology, we are able to easily access entertainment through social media scrolling, games, watching shows, etc. While completing a challenging task requires effort, many people choose the former and end up procrastinating.
How to overcome procrastination?
This is a question we all ask ourself...how do i stop procrastinating?Beating procrastination requires both mindset shifts and practical strategies. Here are some effective ways to tackle it:
1.Break tasks into smaller steps:
Instead of being intimidated by a large project, break it into smaller steps. This helps kick start the project and reduces feeling of anxiety and overwhelm.
2.Set clear deadlines:
Some people are only able to work under pressure. If there are no deadlines, you keep putting off the work and end up procrastinating.Instead of saying "I'll do it later,"set a concrete deadline, even if it is self-imposed.
3.Remove distractions:
Identify what distracts you while you sit down to do your work.Remove or atleast minimise those distractions, this includes putting your phone on silent or keeping it locked, using website blockers or creating a dedicated workspace.
4.Develop self-compassion:
Negative talk-being harsh on yourself for not completing a work on time, delaying and putting off the work worsen's procrastination.Instead of feeling guilty and being mad at yourself, take a step back, acknowledge the challenge and focus on progress, not perfection.
5.Reward yourself:
Positive reinforcement-reward yourself for completing a task.Whether by taking a short break or eating your favourite snack, having something to look forward to can increase motivation.
Conclusion:
Procrastination is a battle between short-term pleasure and long-term rewards.Procrastiantion is something we all experience and overcoming it is a challenge.Being hard on yourself is only going to worsen the problem.Understanding why we procrastinate and implementing strategies can help us to take control of our time and productivity.By starting small, setting goals, and staying mindful of distractions, we can break the cycle of procrastination and accomplish more with less stress.

Hii yaa! Hello there! Sorry, I'm asking this anon because I've been unfairly shadowbanned.
So....Okay, I'm Desi, so traditionally my horoscope sign (Leo, born in oct though) was picked by a priest who used VHS. Now, My VHS signs:- Virgo sun, Leo moon and Capricon rising; and WHS signs on the other hand:- Libra sun and Virgo moon and Capricon rising. I don't much about astrology and reading materials always state how logical, intellectual and analytical these signs are, yada yada. But, yea, I do find myself resonating with some traits, then I'm primally chronic procastinator, maladaptive daydreamer, impulsive or passive. I saw your blog and found it very nice, detailed and helpful. Help this lost soul out, I'm having a astrology brainrot.
Also, I like Kakashi, so, can I get a little match up? Hehehe. Sorry for the long block of text. Thankyou
hey! i'm so sorry about your shadowban - make sure you reach out to support to get it resolved :( i am actually not doing match ups as part of this but i appreciate you asking. i also have your second ask about vedic astrology and as i do not practice it, i don't want to give you any bad information so i'm going to defer to anyone who follows me here that may be more well versed than i am. if there's anyone who would like to help our friend out, let us know! <3
that being said, i will happily answer the western astrology questions!
the thing about the functions of the signs is that sometimes we do not always see or experience them in our daily lives. in western astrology specifically, the functions of the sun, moon, and rising sign are as follows:
sun - the basest version of you. where many of your morals and views of life are formed, it's basically just the core of your soul.
moon - how you deal with emotional processes. it over your internal world so it tends to be something that is seen more reflectively and internally than something others pick up in us unless we talk them through our thought processes.
rising - how others perceive you at the jump. how you present yourself to the world.
so looking at your big three here i see a person who does have some of the traits of these placements based off of what you've told me.
a libra sun is a really lush placement, very lovely and romantic, very prone to projection and being projected upon, sometimes perceived as hard to pin down. this could be where some of your impulsivity and passive behavior begins and let me say, it's not really a bad thing to be either of those things - impulsivity is just spontaneity wearing an ugly shirt and passiveness isn't always weakness, sometimes it's the ability to choose your battles and knowing when to disengage. this is a core aspect of a libra. they disengage, they're air, they're not interested in lingering where they will not thrive.
my advice to overcome some of this, if you'd like it, is to listen to your intuition more. virgo is as intuitive as any water sign and a moon placement is both one of the more intense places to have it but also one of the most meaningful. you likely have a sometimes harsh and critical inner voice. you're probably a little bit of a perfectionist and lean into the tendency of libra to say "it's not that deep! i can just go!" to avoid having to listen to your own heart. if you're struggling with a decision, sometimes you may have to take the harsh angle. you may have to work through it using the intelligence of virgo and the work ethic and lock in ability of capricorn rising.
capricorn rising means you likely do come off to others as well put together even if you don't feel that way. perhaps a little distant, maybe there are some walls, but ultimately a person who is reliable and trustworthy. someone people trust to come to for advice even if the kind of worry wart nature of virgo is urging you not to do that.

Don't.believe.shit.like.this!!!
No. You can't "overcome your ADHD".
No ADHD is not a "depression response"
and No it won't "dissolve almost instantly" just because you take some poorly google translated tests/programmes online. (No matter how well they are suppose to "fit you".)
Listen; procastination is NOT the same as ADHD. It's a SYMPTOM that is INCLUDED within ADHD, and although yes you can learn to cope with procastination and other ADHD-symptoms...this still won't
🌟 ~ magically ERASE your ADHD ~ 🌟
ADHD is a lifelong condition. Some people learn how to cope with symptoms and won't need any medications...others (like myself) will need medication for a longer period of their lives or even for the REST of their lives. That doesn't mean that they are weaker or worse than those that won't need any medication. All ADHD'ers are different and we won't all have all the symptoms that fits the entire criteria. But let me tell you again that to procastinate from time to time (literally everybody does this) is NOT the same as having ADHD!! Being a little distracted or having mood swings sometimes is NOT the same as having ADHD! And taking some online "tests/programmes" won't "cure you" if you are having ADHD.
SO PLEASE. Don't believe fake ads like the one above! They are spreading misinformation about ADHD in order to probably try and SELL YOU expenssive, scammy subscriptions, to some crappy and poorly google translated "programmes/test" that is not going to "dissolve and overcome your ADHD". All which these "tests/programmes" will do however, is taking away your money and mess up your self esteem once you realize that you have been fooled and robbed!
If you see ads like these; please report them and (if you can) also block the account/s that makes them!! Enough is enough! We have to end this misinformation!

a little life update
so lately i've been having so much fun and quite the peaceful life; work is going well and my life is progressing slowely but steadly
there's a lot of stuff i want to do but because i'm a lazy person and also i procastinate a lot that most of the stuff i want to do are still in review mode and i need to start working on them
i need to find a solution on how to start them and how i can manage my time and also overcome my shyness and the fear of rejection and judgement so that i can start something big that i always want to do
about my love life, well it's a desert, there's nothing and all men on this earth are becoming more and more not fiting for relationship or even for marriage
i'm having a crush on someone lately but it's not progressing because each of us live in another country and this guy don't want to think or have a long distance friendsip let alone relationship; but what's funny is each time i go back to my country and meet; we have quite the cute interaction but im gonna put in mind that it' only because hes nice to everyone and he's treating me like any girls he knows which make me sad but that's life
i'm gonna keep thisb crush for a little while but who knows maybe it can work maybe not , it's just for me to have something interesting and not feel a little lonely
well that's all for today :)

HOW STUDENT PROCASTINATE?
Introduction
Procrastination is a common challenge that university students face. Balancing lectures, assignments and a social life can be overwhelming, leading to a cycle of putting off important tasks until the last minute. This can cause stress and negatively impact your academic performance and, more importantly, your personal well-being.
If you’ve found yourself struggling with procrastination, we’re here to help! We’ll help you discover some of the best strategies to stop procrastination in its tracks. Whether you’re struggling to avoid procrastination or looking to improve your productivity, these tips are designed to help you overcome procrastination habits and achieve your long-term goals.
Why is avoiding procrastination important?
Before we dive in, you’ve got to understand why avoiding procrastination is important. For starters, putting off tasks may hinder your academic performance. When you leave your assignments and revision until the last minute, it will likely lead to rushed, lower-quality work – negatively impacting grades on both your exams and assignments.
Aside from that, procrastination can be harmful to your mental health, Neuroscience News reports. Although you’re putting something off, your brain still knows that you’ve got to do it. This can lead to an increase in stress, anxiety and depression. By completing these tasks on time, you can boost your personal satisfaction by fostering a sense of accomplishment.
Now, let’s take a look at how to stop procrastinating.
Tips to stop procrastinating as a student
Set clear goals
According to Solving Procrastination, a lack of clear goals is a common reason why students are prone to procrastination. Without a clear direction and motivation, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and avoid important tasks as they seem pointless.
Start off by looking at the bigger picture. Where do you want to be in one, five, or even ten years' time? Then break down the steps of what you need to do to accomplish this. By specifying why you need to study or complete your assignments to a high standard, you’ll be more motivated to do so!
Create a schedule
Having a structured plan can significantly reduce procrastination. When you allocate specific times for studying, assignments and breaks, you create a routine that fosters productivity. To make this possible, you could create a planner or digital calendar to map out your week. For a better overview of your week, try colour-coding your schedule according to classes, study sessions and social activities. It’s important to build consistency, so aim to stick to this as closely as possible. But there’s no harm in being flexible!
Prioritise important tasks
It’s easy to spend time on less important activities while avoiding the large tasks that matter – it makes us feel better about doing something. Prioritising helps you focus on what’s most critical. One of the ways you can do this is by using the Eisenhower Matrix to categorise your tasks into four quadrants: urgent and important, important but not urgent, urgent but not important, and neither urgent nor important. Start by focussing on the tasks that are both urgent and important and take it from there.
Eliminate distractions
A major source of your procrastination comes from distractions. Whether it’s social media, noise, chatting with your friends or even a cluttered workspace, it’s important to block these distractions when you’re in study mode. To create a distraction-free environment, turn off your notifications and set the stage for better concentration and productivity.
Break down large tasks
Facing a large task can be intimidating, leading to procrastination. Breaking it down into smaller, more manageable pieces can make it seem less overwhelming. If you have a big project or assignment due, such as your dissertation, divide and conquer is the way forward. You could break this down into researching, outlining, writing and sense-checking. For each smaller task, set yourself a mini deadline to keep yourself on track and watch yourself shine.
Use the Pomodoro technique
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that can help you stay focused and productive. It involves working for a set period, usually 25 minutes, followed by a short break. Set a timer for 25 minutes and work on a task without interruptions. After the timer goes off, take a 5-minute break and repeat, taking a longer break after every four “Pomodoros”. This technique can help you maintain a high level of focus while preventing burnout.
Reward yourself
Incentives can be a powerful motivator to overcome procrastination. A bit like training a dog, rewarding yourself after completing a task is a type of conditioning that reinforces positive behaviour, making you more likely to want to complete these tasks. Your reward can be anything you enjoy – whether it’s watching an episode of your favourite series, indulging in your favourite snack or even going for a walk.
Stay accountable
Having someone to hold you accountable can significantly reduce procrastination. Sharing your goals with a friend can provide the extra push you need. Partner with a classmate or friend and set up regular check-ins to discuss your progress. This accountability can help you stay committed to your tasks and deadlines. Unless you’re prone to chatting, you could even use each other as a study buddy to help each other revise.
Practice self-compassion
It’s important to be kind to yourself, especially when you slip up. Beating yourself up over it can lead to more negative emotions and even more procrastination. Everyone struggles with it at times, so when you do, reflect on what triggered it and how you can address it in the future. This way you can improve how you handle it the next time you have a handful of stressful tasks to juggle.
Conclusion.
Procrastination can be challenging, but you will be able to overcome it with the right time management strategies. By setting clear goals, creating a schedule, prioritising tasks and eliminating distractions, you can build habits that promote productivity and reduce stress. Remember, overcoming procrastination takes time and effort, but the rewards both personally and academically will be worthwhile. Now you know how to stop procrastinating, put these tips into action and watch as you grow.

I am allowed to suck
For quite a while now, I struggle to do what I love: creating thing. I told myself that was because I don't have the time to dive deep, to really get into a project. And that is partially true, but the main reason I struggle to create is that I fear failure. And the longer I wait, the bigger that fear is, because I feel like I am losing my craft, my talent.
Today I started a new challenge to get myself into creating again, without pressure and without expectations, because I figured that creating ANYTHING AT ALL is better than creating nothing.
So, I am challenging myself to create bad art. Terrible poems, ridiculess, meaningless stories and ugly drawing.
That is my goal.
So far, I have writing two terrible poems:
This is a bad poem.
It looks
Like a poem
But it is
Not
In fact
A poem.
And that is why it is a bad one.
I really shouldn't use the word really
Or that is what writing advice always tells me
So I look for alternatives
But sometimes
The word I am looking for
Is really
Really.
