Dreams
Pairing: Hasil Farrell x Female OC
Words: 1776
Warnings: Injuries (not fatal), swearing, mention of family loss... lmk if I missed any
Divider by: @saradika-graphics
Summary: Hasil's dreams lead him to a young woman in need of his help. Part 1.
@babykayla288 - this took me longer than I intended and it's only the first part, but I hope you like it.
AN: This is NOT a Sasil fic. Sally-May is an amazing character and I love her and Hasil together, but I wanted to do something different.
He hadnât been sure what he was supposed to be looking for, but his dream had been quite clear on where he was supposed to go. Off the normal trail was a rockface that climbers often frequented, but the Farrells avoided, which was why Hasil hadnât told anyone where he was going when he left. He couldnât explain it, but the dream left him almost frantic about finding whatever he was sure to see there. He wasnât expecting that âthingâ to be a young woman around his age with raven black hair lying beneath the rock face.
At first, he was confused; why on earth would his dream tell him to come find a dead body? Upon closer inspection, he realized it wasnât⌠it was telling him to find a LIVE one. He wasnât sure how sheâd survived the fall, but the slight rise and fall of her chest was unmistakable. He had no idea what Lady Ray would say about their visitor, but leaving her here wasnât an option, not for him. With all the gentleness he possessed, he first looked her over to try to find some kind of wound. Her arms were scratched to hell, telling him sheâd tried to catch herself on the way down, and he was sure one of them was broken, but other than that, she looked okay for someone who had just fallen off a cliff. When he went to pick her up, he noticed the strange necklace she had grasped in her right hand. It reminded him of the one he often saw Lady Ray wearing, but he quickly shook off the thought, grabbing the necklace, shoving it in his pocket, and carefully picking her up.
âWhat the hell?â she groaned, attempting to bring her hand up but wincing at the pain. âFuck.â Hasil half expected her to start flailing when she realized she was in a strangerâs arms, but she seemed more relieved than anything when she looked at him. âHi.â
âHi?â
He was going to hazard a guess that she had a concussion; either that or she was just crazy. He wanted to tell her sheâd be ok and that she was safe with him, but she passed out right after the word left his lips. So with a whispered âfuckin hell,â he readjusted his hold on her and walked her to the 4-wheeler heâd left on the main trail. He still had no idea who she was or why his dream had brought him to her, but he didnât think his family was going to take kindly to him bringing an outsider into their territory. Only one way to find outâŚ
*
Lady Ray had been shocked as hell when she walked into the healerâs tent and saw the young woman. Gâwin was currently tearing into Hasil, calling him irresponsible and stupid for bringing her to them, but one look at her face and Lady Ray immediately stopped her.
âThatâs enough.â
âLady Ray?â
âIs she gonna be alright?â
âSheâs got a broken arm, a concussion, and cuts all up and down her arms.â
âDonât rightly answer my question.â
She didnât sound angry, but there was a distinct edge to her tone that told them to tread very carefully. Gâwin wasnât sure what the hell Hasil was thinking but now she was even more confused by their Brenâin and her reaction to this woman.
âSheâll be fine.â
âGood. Hasil, come with me.â
Hasil looked from the girl to his Brenâin but didnât dare argue, nodding once and following her obediently. She quickly dismissed the others from her living room, and once it was just the two of them, Hasil was finally gifted with answers.
âEverythin alright, Brenâin?â
âThat girl⌠did she have anything else on her?â
âJust this.â He pulled the necklace from his pocket and handed it over, watching her closely and catching the moment her eyes seemed to tear up. âWho is she?â
âMitena⌠her family once helped our clan in a time of dire need. It was during the time of the big storm; several of our homes were destroyed along with most of our food and clean water. I was prepared tâ do whatever was necessary but they offered us their help freely. Requested nothin in return, but a Farrell doesnât take charity, so I give âem that necklace. Told âem if they ever needed help, tâ just bring that back and theyâd be welcome with open arms.â
âSo her comin here werenât no coincidence?â she shook her head ânoâ but left it at that, at least until his next words. âHere I thought my dreams were just leadin me on a wild goose chase.â
âDreams? What dreams?â Hasil told her about every dream heâd had over the past week. All about finding something important in an unexpected place. He explained that he had no idea it would be a person. âWhy didnât you tell me about this sooner?â
âLike I said, I wasnât sure if they was just dreams or something more.â
âStill, next time you come directly tâ me. Understand?â
âOf course Brenâin.â
âGood. Now, Iâll want tâ talk tâ her when she wakes, but Iâm placin her under your charge.â
âMe?!â
âDonât sound so surprised.â She scoffed. âYou were the ones given the dreams, means your story with her has only just begun.â
âSo youâre lettin her stay?â
âI am. I made a promise, and I keep my promises.â
âThe rest of our kin may not like this.â
âYou let me worry about them. You just worry about her.â
âYes maâam.â
*
When Mitena regained consciousness, she silently looked around the unfamiliar room, searching for the man sheâd seen in her dreams. However, after everything that had happened, she wasnât about to let her guard down so easily. Her parents had begged their leader not to let those women stay, but helping those in need was kind of their whole thing⌠only this time it led to the death of her family. Her motherâs quick thinking was the ONLY reason sheâd survived, placing the necklace in her hand and telling her to find the Farrells. Sheâd heard stories of this clan and the promise that remained between their family and her own, and she was relieved to discover that the man in her dreams was part of that family. Â
Hasil walked in a moment later, and his smile at the sight of her awake caused a small flurry of butterflies to flit in her chest. His Aura had a mix of orange, yellow, and green, bringing a natural calm to her spirit⌠unlike her healer, who she was seriously considering stabbing. She hadnât heard everything, but Gâwin had been speaking to herself, and Mitena had heard enough to know she wasnât happy with her presence. Something that was confirmed by her words to Hasil before realizing Mitena was awake.
âWhatâd she say?â
âIâm tâ look after her.â
He was speaking to Gâwin but looking directly at Mitena and his lip curved the tiniest amount when she let out a relieved sight. He hadnât officially met the woman, but something about her was drawing him in, just as she was being drawn to him.
âAre you serious?! Since when do we take in strays?â
âIf youâve got a problem with it, I suggest you go on and talk tâ our Brenâin.â
âMaybe I will.â
âMaybe you should.â He shrugged, winking at Mitena and smiling outright when he saw her trying to hide a laugh. âIâm just tellin' you what she told me.â
âYou sure youâre tellin' me everything?â
He just shrugged again, and Gâwin let out an angry groan, tossing a rag at him and wondering if everyone in this family had lost their damn minds. âSince sheâs your problem, you wrap up her arm. Iâm gonna go talk tâ Lady Ray and git tâ the bottom of this.â
âKnock yourself out.â He was so unphased by her outburst that Mitena figured this must be a pretty regular interaction between them. When she was finally gone, he walked over and sat beside her on the bed as though they were old friends rather than new acquaintances. âDonât mind her. Sheâs a bit paranoid, but she means well.â
âShe sounds like a raging bitch.â
He didnât bother hiding his laugh, finding her assessment hilarious but not entirely wrong. He cared very much for Gâwin and thought she would make a decent Brenâin in the future, but that didnât mean she couldnât be self-serving and downright mean to outsiders.
âShe ainât all bad.â He shrugged, âNow, I gotta fix up your arm. Can ya sit up for me?â
She did as he asked, wincing but not crying out when he started wrapping her arm. She was more interested in watching his face, looking for micro-expressions that would tip her off before she fell too deep. What she found instead was a deeply caring individual, and in this moment, she knew why her dreams were leading her to him.
âThank you.â
âCanât leave ya all banged up.â
âNot just for this.â She whispered, bowing her head so she could compose herself and meeting his eyes when she was sure she wouldnât cry. âI know bringin me here was a risk.â
âNo risk, no reward.â He teased, finding the tint of pink dusting her cheeks to be nothing short of mesmerizing. âWhat were ya doing all the way out here, anyways?â
âMy family⌠we were targeted by the Kinnah. As far as I know, Iâm the only one who survived.â
Heâd heard stories of the Kinnah and none of them were good. âIâm so sorry.â
âNot your fault.â She shrugged, happy that this conversation was going well, all things considered. âMy mama told me tâ come find your family, said youâd help.â
âSheâs right. Lady Ray said you can stay as long as ya want, but sheâs gonna wanna talk tâ you⌠and sheâll wanna know about them Kinnah.â Mitena nodded in understanding, smiling up at him when he took her now bandaged hand in his and gave her a slight squeeze. âYouâre safe here. Safe with me.â
âThank you⌠Iâm Mitena, by the way.â
âHasil. Pleasure tâ meet you, Mitena.â
âPleasure to meet you, Hasil.â
It was a small introduction, and while her heart was in tatters after the loss of her family, she was so thankful her dreams had led her to such a man as this. He had such a calming effect on her; it was unlike anything sheâd experienced before, and though she didnât know how this would end up, she was grateful to have him as her guide.

would it be controversial if i said that within the komahina community hajime is mischaracterized far more often then komaeda is. like out of these two characters you can clearly tell which one the majority cares about more
#komahina#koâs danganronpa ramblings#specifically within the kmhn community. outside of it its more even#but i feel like weve all moved past the wreck that was 2016 fanon komaeda characterization#like weâre definitely past that. but i feel like we havent gotten past fanon hajime at all#the amount of people i see make him straight up a hostile and aggressive person is crazy#he has a simple yet still distinct personality and somehow u guys are still twisting him into this absolute asshole#even though he had every reason to hate komaeda he didnt. that says a lot about how angry he is as a person (not at all$#)#and people take his sarcasm to the extreme too. like no hes not nearly as sarcastic as u make him out to be.

Peter isn't really an animal person.
or, me drawing the boys with their cat equivalents.
Peter gets to be a black cat because 1) bad luck 2) dark hair 3) Felicia would think it's funny.
Kaine's cat here is, of course, a male tortoiseshell. Actually it's supposed to be a torbie but i was too lazy to put tabby marks on all of them (not that it would be visible on Peter's catâŚ)
Also I was gonna give Ben and Peter the same kind of cat but then I thought it would be cute to make Ben's cat equivalent an orange tabby insteadâŚ. so I did both lol but made the black version sun-rusted on account of his sun-kissed tan đ
#ft. peter and kaine's glasses â still can't decide if i should have peter use green lenses or not..................#ben is also sensitive to light/very slightly nearsighted but less than peter and also too stubborn#peter only starts wearing glasses again in like... late 2009 lol (and this pic would presumably be around 2016-17 in theory)#peter's are (new) ray-ban round flecks and only because the FF pays for his insurance in 2015-2016 onward (idk how long for)#prev he has vintage ray-ban willobys but only because he found them broken in a thriftstore and fixed them himself#and got regular transition lenses put in instead of black sunglass lenses#kaine's in his Indoor Sunglasses which are kate spade genice frames lol â idk if they would fit his big head irl but i don't care#outside sunglasses are same frame but WAY darker black mirror finish polarized lenses w/o a gradient#i am going to make a little timeline w/ glasses for them btw cause i only decided this recently#peter parker#kaine parker#ben reilly#spiderman#scarlet spider#sort of#came in through the window last night#nadiart#fanadiart#rough art#ben looked more tan when i was coloring this than later prob because i have a bad habit of drawing#w/ my screen brightness all the way down and the screen tinted warm

Iâve been seeing a lot of discussions/discourse on tumblr and twitter surrounding kamala/voting for kamala so I want to put my two cents in as someone who will have no actual influence towards the outcome of the election
(important parts with be in bold)
Letâs look at the hypothetical that trump wins because the vote was split or people simply just refused to and kamala didnât gain enough votes to win.
In the scenario, I want every person who decided it would be better not to vote or vote for a random third party candidate who has no shot at winning who only comes up during election years to say all of the ânot like the other guysâ talking points to explain to not just me but every queer, trans, disabled, non white, AFAB person who is now at severe risk why you chose to not vote to help them have rights. I want to see your explanations if trump wins. you also cannot use Palestinians suffering to make yourself seem better than you actually are
My point is that if trump wins because your delusions lead you to believe that you can single handedly change the way elections work in this country by âsticking it to the demsâ and trump wins and we become a facist state, I want to hear what you have to say when we all start loosing rights and palestine gets wiped off the map
âWell we wonât let that happenâ Good fucking luck. In project 2025 im pretty sure there is a section about how we basically wonât be able to protest anything anymore, not only that im also pretty sure trump has talked about deporting pro palestine protesters specifically!
You cannot be a single issue voter in this election and in many elections to come. Change doesnât happen overnight and you need to wake up and realize that kamala will be the start of actually getting more progressive candidates and policies even if itâs not enough right now at this very moment. We all have to actually start putting in the effort instead of sitting around on our asses complaining
If we get kamala in, we wonât have to worry about our country becoming a facist state therefore we can worry more about palestine and putting more pressure on the dems than there already is. That should be a no brainer to some of you
This post isnât praising kamala or trying to idolize her in anyway, always be critical of politicians. This post is more of a message to the preformative leftists on tumblr and twitter who have zero knowledge on how the US government works.
Itâs kamala or trump this november. We cannot change that less than 100 days away from election day
Should I repeat myself? I hope you can understand that.
Iâm not trying to bash anyone for continuing to put pressure on kamala and the dems for being complicit in bombing children. Thatâs not who my post is about like I already said
I think that all the protests outside of the DNC are especially important because it shows we have not forgotten and will continue to put pressure on the dems to do the right thing for once
but like I already said, itâs kamala or trump. Third party candidates are either grifters who only are there to get money and trick gullible leftists or candidates who have never been in any lower level political positions who think they can automatically garner a shit ton of support to win when they canât. Your other option is to not vote which is arguably worse
Iâm not trying to be the one to change anyones mind but I hope this post can help you reconsider your options and start facing the reality of this election
You have an important choice to make this november. I hope you can make the right one
edit: im not trying to beg anyone to vote for kamala or make anyone who is against her because of her handling of Palestine vote for kamala, especially if you are Palestinian yourself. Im not trying to make anyone feel bad about it either. Thats not the point of this post. The point is that change needs to happen now and this election is a perfect start to do so. We cannot have good change under a second trump term. I know im just repeating myself at this point but I want to put this out there incase I come off wrong or offensive. Also, I dont like the dems at all. I dont align with their party but you shouldnt even care abt what party I align with most. Im not a pro activist whose been in the game for 10+ years, im just a trans boy who has essentially been forced to pay attention to the shit going on in the country because of who I am even though it shouldn't concern me nearly as much as it does.
second edit: check out this tiktok and this persons other tiktoks abt palestine and kamala
#Also iâm a queer neurodivergent minor I literally cannot do much outside of spreading awareness#please vote#go vote#kamala harris#tim walz#2024 elections#iâll delete this if this becomes super controversial#Like can we please please just be organized for once and put on our thinking caps just this once#Also if you just want to argue with me or anyone else or you want to try to paint me as pro isreal im blocking you. Im not and never will b#and it personally offends me that you would assume so because im simply trying to be logical about the upcoming election. Even if it sucks#for me to do so since the dems continue to do so little for Palestine and it hurts my heart to see them suffering and I wish we could all#just vote third party but we cant until we get rid of the electoral collage and implement ranked choice voting#this also goes for centrist dems who just wanna hate on protesters and say nasty ass shit to them im blocking yall as well#I wasnt even going to get into this myself but im admittedly scared. Ik kamala has a good shot but I dont want a repeat of 2016#Turning reblogs off for a bit sorry im being paranoid

What the Mountain Provides
I have been binge watching Outsiders, the show from 2016 with Joe Anderson, Ryan Hurst, and Kyle Gallner, and was dismayed to learn it was canceled after only TWO seasons. Now I love Supernatural, it's one of my comfort shows, but if I could trade a couple seasons of it for new seasons of Outsiders, I would.
Well of course this news was disappointing but I figured I could read the fanfic that surely followed suit. Even Kyle made a tweet about it. However, I'm finding that stories are few and far between. Sasil seems to be the main type and while I love the ship and the characters, I also have a love for reader inserts or other OCs. So I guess the only thing I can do is write my own... without further ado here's my first Outsiders Fanfic. At the moment it's a one shot but because it's me, it will more than likely become a multi-chapter. Either way, I hope you enjoy.
What the Mountain Provides
Pairing: Asa Farrell x Female OC
Words: 2550
Warnings: Slight Spoiler, Swearing, Talk of death and dying
Divider by: @saradika-graphics
Summary: {set after Asa shoots Big Foster} Asa finds himself being taken care of by a young woman from his childhood.
There hadnât been a set plan when heâd come back down the mountain. All he knew was he could never go back home and the pain that hit him was like a shot to the heart. At first, he tried telling himself to just hop a train and go wherever life took him, but the wolves descending told him that this was the end of the line for him. He couldnât have Gâwin, heâd killed Big Foster, and he couldnât see the light at the end of this tunnel. Perhaps he shouldâve pulled the trigger that night rather than return to the mountain; maybe things wouldnât have gotten so bad at home. Sure, the coal company was still a problem, but the internal war that was waged⌠was that all his fault? Was he cursed? Had he brought some sort of evil back home with him?
At least giving himself to the wolves would provide sustenance for the creatures. Perhaps theyâd even carry parts of him back up the mountain. His spirit might not be fully at peace scattered about, but did he deserve peace at all? Standing, facing the three predators, he resigned himself to death, closing his eyes and holding his arms out as though he were embracing a friend... but then the sound of soft humming reached his ears, and he could see the soft light of first morning behind his eyelids, the smell of coffee and bacon assaulting his nostrils, and when he reached down, his hand was met with the softness of nice sheets.
The humming became softer, but he could tell the person behind the noise was coming closer, and he managed to crack one eye open as the door slowly opened. When the owner of the voice and the room came into view, his breath suddenly caught in his throat. She reminded him of summertime on the mountain; her hair shimmered like the soft glow of a summer evening, kissed by the sun, yet cool as the pale beams of a full moon; a gentle fusion of warmth and ethereal light, a tapestry of blonde that seemed almost otherworldly in its delicate brilliance. She had a fae-ish look about her, and all of the stories his kin would tell of the Fae didnât seem so farfetched after setting eyes on her⌠and then she smiled at him, and he was positive this must be some kind of heaven because he was certainly looking at an angel.
âGlad ta see you awake.â
She had the same accent as most folks around here, but hers sounded closer to music than simple conversation, and it was taking his brain a second longer than usual to realize that this wasnât a hallucination and he wasnât dead. The woman waited for a moment before stepping closer, the tray of food held out in front of her, and he could see that she was being cautious but was unsure what the caution was aimed towards. Was she afraid of him? Possibly, but he didnât think sheâd bring him⌠wherever they were if that was the case. He was so lost in his head that it didnât register that he was full-on staring at her, his eyes tracking her every move, but if she was bothered by it, she didnât say anything. Simply placed the tray on the bedside table and stepped back to give him space.
âI hope you like bacon. I wasnât sure if you ate meat, but figured it was a pretty safe bet since most folks around here do. If I got it wrong, Iâve got something else I can make ya. Got some cinnamon rolls coolin' in the kitchen if youâve got a sweet tooth orâ
âThis is fine. Thanks.â
She gave him a small nod, and while she wanted to ask him about a million questions, she didnât want to overwhelm him. When sheâd found him, heâd been delirious, screaming about wolves coming to devour his soul. He didnât swing at her or react violently when she helped him to his feet, but heâd sobbed the entire way to her truck, asking if she was the angel of death and muttering about the mountain never allowing his spirit to rest. It would be considered odd if she hadnât been raised in the area; her mother and Meemaw taught her that as long as you respected the mountain and the magic within it, it would bless you and keep you safe. When sheâd hit her 20s and gone to college, sheâd tried writing it all off as superstitions, but since being back sheâd seen things she couldnât explain. Fae playing in her garden, shapeshifters at her back door, her name being called while hiking⌠she wasnât sure if this type of magic only resided within the Appalachians or not, but sheâd spent the past 12 years learning how to work with that magic and lived a peaceful life. Something she didnât think her guest could relate to.
âIâll leave ya to it then.â
She turned to leave when he reached out and grabbed her wrist, causing her to pause and turn back to look at him. She was close enough that he was given a better look at her and was mesmerized by her eyes: one hazel and one blue. She had full lips and a slightly upturned nose, and for the first time in a long time, his thoughts werenât stuck on Gâwin.
âWhatâs your name?â
âIvy Rae Calloway.â She could see the glimmer of recognition but didnât think he could fully place her. âYou can call me Ivy.â
âAsa. Asa F-â
âFarrell. I know.â He was caught off guard by her knowing, at the very least, his last name. Most people in this town had a hatred for his kin, but she didnât seem bothered in the slightest. âMy Meemaw used ta be friendly with your Brenâin. Iâd go up with her from time ta time. You taught me how ta swim.â
He searched his memories for this lovely woman and stumbled upon a memory of him at 12, a 10-year-old blonde girl chasing after him and begging him to teach her how to swim. Heâd refused at first, having better things to do than befriend a townie, but he told her heâd help if she could keep up, and she had. Even when heâd purposely taken a difficult trail to the pond, she was right on his heels, and by the end of the day, they were well and truly friends. Whenever sheâd come with her Meemaw, the two of them would go off on some adventure, often with a few of his cousins in tow. Theyâd spent five summers running all over the mountain, and he was ashamed to say heâd forgotten all about her. Heâd recognized the name when Lady Ray had mentioned her in passing but didnât truly remember until this moment.
âI heard tell you moved.â
âFor a little bit. I went ta college for a few years, but it wasnât for me; I was back home by 23. Things I learned from my ma and Meemaw have done more for me than anything I learned in university anyhow.â
That was something he could relate to: college and the outside world not being for you. Heâd tried it for ten years, but the mountain called him home, and now he was wondering if she had something to do with that. At first, he assumed Gâwin was the pull heâd felt, but with how things worked out on that front, he had his doubts. Ivy though⌠he didnât believe in love at first sight, but there was definitely something special about her.
âI know the feelin.â
âI know ya do.â She smiled softly but didnât expand on the statement. âIâll let ya eat in peace.â
He gave her a thin smile, but the way he tucked into the food was thanks enough for her. She had no idea why the mountain had placed Asa in her path but she knew better than to ignore such a blatant sign. Sheâd sent offerings to the spirits, praying that theyâd send someone her way so she didnât have to be so alone. Her ma had been gone these past 4 years, the cancer took her too quickly, and if she hadnât had her Meemaw, she didnât think sheâd have survived that⌠but there had been no one here when the older woman had passed. Ivy hadnât understood what happened to her then, just that she hadnât seen it coming. One morning, Meemaw woke up and told her she had to accompany someone important to her to the other side. Sheâd said similar things in the past, helping a spirit cross over, showing them to the light. As a death witch, it was her job to lead the lost souls to their final destination, so Ivy hadnât batted an eye when she started talking like that. However, she hadnât expected her Meemaw to walk into the forest and not back out. The police had found her body a mile from the Farrell homestead with no sign of trauma, and the coroner said she hadnât had a heart attack or anything like that. For all intents and purposes, she fell asleep by the old oak and hadnât woken up.
Ivy found out a week later that Lady Ray had passed on, and everything clicked into place. She had been her Meemawâs best friend, and while they hadnât visited the home in many years, the older women would often meet in the forest and spend the day swapping stories and sharing the bounty of whichever harvest they were in. Ivy had always loved their friendship and wished sheâd had something like that; unfortunately, while Meemaw was Lady Rayâs best friend, that didnât mean Ivy had been allowed to hang around the family. The moment they found sheâd gone to college, theyâd shunned her⌠if they only knew the reason behind her departure was the man currently eating in her guest room.

A couple of weeks passed, and Asa was finally beginning to relax around Ivy. Initially, heâd been so sure sheâd end up treating him like everyone else, intimidated by the Farrell name, but she was at complete ease around him. Sheâd explained where sheâd found him and the things heâd been saying, and heâd admitted to having hallucinated wolves. Ivy had listened to him talk about the things happening within his family and the coal company. It hurt her heart to hear about all that chaos weaving its way through the Farrell land, but sheâd told him that it wasnât his fault it had happened. She believed that Big Foster had been the one to set things in motion, the darkness in his heart tainting what she knew to be an important ceremony in their clan. His actions against Lady Ray only solidified, in her mind, that the mountain was now punishing the family for his actions. It didnât sound like anyone was trying to make amends with the spirits, and one of the biggest things sheâd been taught was never to disrespect the spirits and expect to be let off the hook.
âSo, youâre tellinâ me that even after goinâ to college, you still believe in magic and all that?â
âOf course. Why wouldnât I?â
âMost townies donât.â
âYou callin' me a townie Asa Farrell?â
âI wouldnât dare.â
Their teasing tones showed how easily their friendship had picked back up. They fit so perfectly together, and it helped that Ivy was as honest as Liâl Foster; Asa wasnât sure either of them was even capable of lying. She didnât see any sense in spreading falsehoods or saying what you didnât truly mean; all that got anybody was heartache, at least in her experience. Theyâd even played two truths and a lie, a way to get reacquainted, and her poker face was completely non-existent. It didnât matter that her truths were things others would find insane, he knew she was being completely honest with him. She wasnât raised as far in as heâd been, but Ivy was still a daughter of the mountain.
âGood. Now, I gotta go into town today⌠itâs not my favorite activity, but Iâve run outta flour and yeast and have a dozen or so loaves of bread ta bake by the end of the day. Wanna come with me?â
âI uh, I better not. It ainât been that long since⌠I donât wanna cause you no trouble.â
âAinât no trouble.â
âIvy.â
He thought for sure sheâd push this. Gâwin always did whenever she wasnât getting her way, but Ivy just smiled and left it at that. The townsfolk werenât exactly thrilled with her existence either, but the shit theyâd say about the FarrellsâŚ
âNo worries.â
âI donât mean ta be callous or nothin'. I justâ
âI get it, Asa. You ainât gotta explain yourself ta me.â
âYou sure?â
âYeah, besides, havin' you here gives me an even bigger reason to hurry.â
âBein in town ainât enough?â
âYou might be surprised.â
He thought she sounded sad, and it wasnât a tone he enjoyed hearing come from her. One of the best things about Ivy was her happy spirit. She was quick to smile, and though heâd seen her get cross at her vegetable garden, whenever he stepped into view, she lit up like a firefly.
âYou alright?â
âIâll be fine. Just been a little harder than usual after Meemaw passed on. Gets kinda lonely when Iâm all by myself.â
âYouâre not by yourself no more.â
âFor now.â She shrugged, shaking herself out of this funk. âIâm sure you donât wanna stay around these parts after everything.â
âAt one time, Iâd agree with you, but now⌠was thinkinâ about stickinâ around. If you donât mind me crashin' in your guest room?â
âNot at all. You can stay forever if ya want.â
âIâm gonna hold ya to that.â
âIâm a woman of my word.â She promised, reaching her hand out and shaking on it. âAre you a man of yours?â
âI try ta be.â He answered honestly, surprising her when he gently yanked on her hand and pulled her into a hug. âBe careful today, yeah?â
âYeah.â
He didnât know where these feelings were coming from, but he didnât fight against them either, kissing the top of her head and refusing to overthink this. He hadnât expected to find his savior in a fellow lostie, but he was thankful for it all the same. She also lived in the in-between, too mountainy for townsfolk and too townie for the mountain folks, but she didn't seem to loathe it like he did. Of course, he had a pretty damn good reason to feel the way he did. Unlike his kin, hers had welcomed her home and taught her in the old ways. He couldn't fault her for their different experiences though, and while she felt more strongly about the magic aspect of the mountain than he did, they still had a lot in common, and it didnât hurt that she was damn pretty.
âYou got a favorite candy or somethin?â
âNah. Ainât nothin' gonna compare to your cinnamon rolls anyway.â
âFlattery will get you everywhere.â She teased, going on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek. âSee ya later, Asa.â
He watched her all the way from the kitchen to the front door, giving her a small wave as she left the house. The impossible had become possible: Asa Farrell had caught feelings for someone other than Gâwinveer.

I can fix him*
*bad writing, underutilized gameplay mechanics, characters with unfulfilled potential, funded by bootlickers
#ra speaks#personal#sorry I made dr phone calls and have like. ten minutes til I gotta get ready for first class of the semester. let me have this.#I think I should get every COD game ever for free. itâs MY tax dollars at work after all (actually anything produced w us military funding#should be free I think I can trap even my bootlicker tax hating dad into getting onboard w this one)#anyways. ghosts wasâŚdecent. but jfc if you give me a silent protag I expect SOME self awareness in the writing.#why are characters calling to him on comms when they know he wonât respond? why doesnât he have an AAC device or something more futuristic?#Iâm just saying if you explicitly limit a character you need to respect those limits in te writing. itâs not that hard.#like non of the characters even acknowledge that Logan never talks. esp weird when he first meets the ghosts#also. obv not a big fan of âall of South America has United into evil space terroristsâ but it was 2013 so ÂŻ\ _(ă)_/ÂŻ#wish we got to see some SDC civis yâknow? get a bear on the average attitudes abt the whole. invading the US thing.#(jfc do not get me started on The Wall like this is a 2016 trump voterâs power fantasy)#also Riley was such an interesting mechanic why couldnât they have at least substituted him w drones or something on the other missions??#you get him for like. two missions. and then he gets shot and you have to protect him (gosh I actually loved that section)#just. it was clear Logan was The Dog Guy with an aptitude for tech. honestly Hesh felt more like the MC than Logan.#and while Logan doesnât have a ton of personality we can glean as a result of non speaking + ZERO communication at all ever#seriously he doesnât even like. wave or give thumbs up to people wtf dude do ppl just assume heâs psychic or something???#I do LOVE the few scenes we get with him acting outside of player control/where he actually has agency (Eliasâ death. the final cutscene)#and like itâs not much but itâs enough that I WANT to see what happens next#but alas. a decade old game without a true sequel (I think??? havenât actually looked into it.)#my brother is making fun of me for being a COD gamer now like boy. I have no defense pls be nice to me T-T
