okay so i've been obsessed with ouat recently with my rewatch and i was looking into Henry's weird ass family tree and oh my god i need to put this out there because why.

for starters i've only included big plot points or villains and main characters etc so none of the side plots but also i've realised how weird some of the age gaps are.

oh yeah also ouat likes to fuck with their timelines and historical context so i have gone with the basic dates that make sense based on what the characters in the show actually say.

the dates are what they would be in the real world not in ouat logic.

pre-main timeline

Ancient Greece - zeus and hades happen (season 6)

ancient greece but later - orpheus and Euridice and pandora's box happen

between 400-500AD - the Holy Grail and Merlin and Nimue

1650's-1660's - Mother Gothel leaves the new land without magic

1770- Malcolm is Born

1804- Rumplestiltskin is born, Malcolm is 34

1808- Rumple is abandoned, Peter Pan becomes a fae trickster tumblr meme

1845- Baelfire is born, Rumple is 41

1859- Bae arrives in england, Rumple is 55

1947- Zelena is born and abandoned

1948- Cora and Rumple have their weird affair

1949- Regina is born

1955- Snow White is born

1973- Regina sends the huntsman after snow, Snow is 18, Regina is 24

23/3/1977 - Neal (Bae) chooses this as his fake birthday

22/10/1983 - Emma is born, the curse is cast

1991 - Neal escapes neverland and comes back to the land without magic

15/8/2001 - Henry is born, Emma is 18, Neal Cassidy is 24

22/10/2011 - Emma arrives in Storybrooke

so some of the dates are based on when episodes aired and things such as when the curse breaks and when emma arrives in storybrooke. other dates are based on easter eggs in the show like Neal's birthday. so i realised that Neal had to have landed back in the real world in 1991 because he was 14 when he got to neverland and obviously didn't age so working backwards those dates make sense.

however... emma was 17 when she got pregnant with henry and at best Neal is 24 but at worst he's 156 years old! i mean what the fuck. and he has to be that old because he tells Emma that technically "I should be a couple hundred by now" (2,15). so at the oldest he can be with Neal's Once upon a time maths education the earliest he can be born is 1845 because big ben isn't built until 1859 which is the absolute earliest that he can be in old england.

the rest of the dates i managed from working backwards from when the curse was broken and cast and from small things the characters say. In the first episode of season 2, Emma says that her and Mary Margaret were the same age which means that the 10 year war she has with regina that ended with the curse started when she was 18.

so what i've found from this is that Henry's family tree back to his paternal great grandad literally spans hundreds of years. the average life span for these fuckers is about 100. basically they're a family of elves and you can't convince me otherwise.

2023 character wrapped!!!!!!!! tagged by @soggybottomboysvevo, thank you very much <3 this was insanely fucking hard and I am leaving out a lot of good characters, but after going through my tumblr and instagram history for the year i have settled on these guys based on post frequency, real-life effect on me, and ability to get me through my work shift. arranged in chronological order of when i was crazy about them.

Rum Tum Tugger (Cats) / i only made two fancams this year and one of them was for him.

Sebastian Smythe (Glee) / i can't believe i'm on like my third gleewatch and i'm only just now becoming insane about Sebastian. bought a warblers jacket over this man.

Rumplestiltskin (OUAT) / it's tough because i never finished OUAT and every time i dip back in it is a struggle but if i was ever going to power through it would be for him.

Chad Charming (Descendants) / i wrote descendants fanfic again this year. because of him.

Monoma Neito (BNHA) / i rewatched and caught up on this show finally and he's still the best character, not even close, i own so much Monoma merch

Miguel Prado (Dexter) / firstly season 3 of Dexter is the most insane i have ever felt watching television. unbelievable high of 2023. secondly Miguel is a crazy person and it makes me feel FUCKED UP that nobody is posting about him. strongly considered writing Dexter fic about him.

Patrick Bateman (AP) / my second fancam of the year was for him. and i changed my icon for the first time in like 4 years for him. also everything else i said about him. hiiii. hai. haiiiii.

Asher Millstone (HTGAWM) / to be quite honest i like just about every character in this show (as of finishing season 2) but he's very much The Type of Character I Love

Gentarou Hongou (999) / biting him with my teeth. i actually think i could fix him. my resolution for 2024 is to start being crazier about woman because seeing it all laid out like this is well. a little depressing to say the least.

Once Upon a Time season 5B thoughts

I’m rewatching OUAT and I wanted to share some of my opinions on each season!

- This is my favourite season!!! (And the only one I have rewatched before)

- Awww it’s Neal

- Slay red intro

- Of course cora is the mayor

- This implies that they have a municipal government (Cora) and a federal?/realm? government (Hades)

- No don’t kiss him it’s James!!!

- Why are they wearing the same outfit lol

- Cora basically just told Regina that she’s going to hell

- THE CHIPPED CUP

- Omg rumbelle is adorable

- THE LITTLE DOLL

- Ooh Pan is back

- “The ale of Sinead from the land of Dunbroch” “That’s a mouthful” lol

- Not the jester lol

- Ooh slay Henry sr switched the hearts

I love this season so much! Zades is my favourite ship in the whole show, and I love Hades with all of my heart. I didn’t really like the destroy magic plot line but it was just the last two episodes. Hades and Zelena are so slay and I love them!

Subject: wondering if I have OSDD

hi, I recently learned about OSDD and think that I could have it. I would talk to a therapist, but as of now I can’t afford one. I have always strongly believed I had a dissociative disorder (more specifically Depersonalization/derealization disorder) until I happened to learn about OSDD. what caught my attention specifically was the ability to have fictional alters. since I was a kid, I have imagined fictional characters talking to me, comforting me, supporting me etc.

I always thought it was strange bc it would happen when I would be stressed out and then bam a character would be talking to me. for example, (and god I feel so embarrassed saying this but I’m trying to be honest) when I was really bad at self harming as a kid I would imagine markiplier telling me not to (I know mark isn’t a fictional character but he’s the only real life person who has done this). he would be comforting me and saying nice things, and I would calm down bc of this and not self harm. when I start thinking about my past trauma sometimes a character will soothe me. even as an adult now (20) when me and my partner argue, occasionally a character will be there talking to me and comforting me afterwards.

over the years it’s been different people but I just thought that my mind would “project” a character that I like/relate to in order to protect me and help me feel better. I was very neglected as a child and grew up in a terrible environment and have been through A LOT of trauma to put it simply. I never had anyone to take care of/protect me when I was a kid, so I figured my brain just temporarily gave me a parent/friend/whatever.

as far as I can remember (and I know I’m forgetting people) this has happened with rumpelstiltskin from ouat, joker from the dark knight for a LONG time (I know lol please kill me) mike from tdi, dexter for a LON G T IME, markiplier, tyler joseph?, riddler and penguin when the show Gotham first came out, and riddler and penguin now bc I started rewatching it

yes it is very embarrassing for me to say that I would “project” fictional serial killers and sadistic maniacs in order to help me survive childhood. however, I have always related to these characters bc typically they have the worst childhoods or are treated terribly and I can strongly relate to them bc of that. I also believe that since they are malicious/intelligent my brain views them as worthy protectors of me? I’m not sure and I prefer not thinking about it lmao.

these characters have helped me through a lot of daily stress and trauma. although, as far as I know, they don’t take control of me or make my body do things, or talk to me (I can’t tell if they are talking to me or if I’m “role playing” with myself as comfort). I constantly dissociate 24/7 though, and I don’t even notice until I “come back?” a past therapist has validated my dissociation, so I do know that it is what I am experiencing. she also said that I have too much trauma for my brain to process so that’s why I dissociate so often, but our talks on dissociation never went further than that due to more harmful things we had to discuss.

I’m not sure if this matters at all, but I have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria (trans guy), GAD, and depression. I suspected that I had more, but our sessions had to end bc she moved. also, I’m very sorry if I am just projecting these characters into my mind to protect myself and they actually aren’t alters of myself at all. I would hate to be offensive in any way.

they show up seemingly randomly when I’m stressed out, and don’t appear every time I’m upset. They show up rarely as far as I know. I’m also an age regressor (little) due to trauma, if that adds anything to the topic. I’m really confused about the characters and can’t tell if they’re a coping mechanism or full on OSDD. I’ve also seen people say fictive alters don’t exist or that having only fictive alters makes you a faker. I’m obviously not educated enough about OSDD to understand, but again if I am offensive in anyway I am deeply sorry and am just trying to learn about myself. (also so sorry for this being long but I felt like I needed to describe my situation)

I know you aren’t a therapist, and you don’t have to respond if you don’t want to.

So I’m going to preface this with: I am not a therapist/psychologist and cannot diagnose anyone. Please take my words with a grain of salt and see a psych when you can. That said, I’ll gladly give my opinion here.

I’m attempting to break this down paragraph-by-paragraph to make organizing our own thoughts easier.

They come up to protect you in times of stress or during s/h. This tells me you might have protectors/caretakers (indicative of trauma but you already know of your own)

The “projection” you talk about sounds like classic introjection; your mind relates to them and believes you and your system would benefit from it, and inserts them into the system. This is especially true since you’ve experienced trauma

This is just a slight aside but “I can’t tell if they’re talking to me or if I’m ‘role playing’ with myself for comfort,” constant dissociation, not noticing until you “come back,” all of these sound like signs of monoconsciousness (which is common with OSDD!) As for them not really taking control, there’s a clause in the diagnostic criteria for Partial Dissociative Identity Disorder (P-DID) in the ICD-11 that says the host might instead be “intruded upon by one or more non-dominant personality states in daily life (dissociative intrusions).”

With that last bit being said, if you experience the above but don’t experience two or more personality states with discontinuities of the self and agency, you most likely don’t have OSDD.

When it comes to alters, they’re not always clearly alters “of you,” if that makes sense. Sometimes (like in OSDD-1b and DID) they’re entirely different people (including introjects!). Alters aren’t always different versions of each other like in OSDD-1a (and iirc 1a is a more rare presentation but I could be wrong), so I think you might just misunderstand what alters are a little (and that’s okay! You’re learning)

You might not be a system and might be using these characters to cope, but that’s okay too! There is literally nothing wrong with that, but it might mean that you’re not necessarily a system (or at least not a disordered one). Introject-heavy systems only make sense because these disorders typically develop in childhood and children tend to use media (especially fictional) to escape from and cope with traumatic situations. Personally, I think anyone who fakeclaims introject-heavy systems is just uneducated.

TLDR; in my honest opinion, I think it’s possible that you have OSDD-1, but you were unclear as to whether they front (it IS possible to just not notice). However, considering they talk to you (even if it feels like roleplaying) and talk you out of harming yourself, and these interactions are involuntary, these sound like the aforementioned dissociative intrusions. They don’t need to fully front, persay, given the wording of the ICD-11.

Again, please take these opinions with a grain of salt. Also, nothing you’re doing is offensive, you’re just talking about your personal experiences here. All of this is completely okay.

7/24/21

I have re-watched “Inauguration” and scheduled its mini-review for Tuesday over on the blog. Over here on that day, there’ll be plenty of SG-1 posts. Excitingly “Prometheus Unbound” is up for next month!

Still no progress on the SGA front. I’ll try to read some more of Blood Ties this week.

The status quo got changed in the seventh episode of Princess Tutu, so it looks like there’ll be more to analyze from this point in.

I’m still loving Journeys, to the point that I talk mostly about it in the ostensible “The Dex Can’t Help It!” review. While I don’t dislike Rotom Dex the way some (most?) fans do, I have to admit Rotom Dex can’t support a whole episode. The next episode didn’t have that issue, due to focusing on Team Rocket. Pretty sure there’ll be Super Sentai references & wormholes in Ultra Adventures, so that’s very exciting for me.

I won’t review it, but I really enjoyed the Star Wars episode of The Muppet Show. There was a lot of great humor; Mark clearly was having a blast. Though the Disney reference at the end is outright prophetic. Honestly I do have to wonder what a post Episode V appearance would have been like.

Just 4 episodes left to watch in PRLG. I’m a bit nervous about if the project will end on a high note or not. I keep hearing snippets of the Mystic Force theme in my head, even though the last time I heard it way back in February. Maybe it’s because that season was my introduction to the franchise? In any case, I am planning to rewatch one episode per season in 2023 for the 30th anniversary.

On the short list are “Something Fishy”, “The Phantom Phenomenon”, “Worlds Apart”, the “Reinforcements from the Future” two-parter, “Truth and Consequences”, “Abridged”, “Soul Specter”, the “Once a Ranger” two-parter, “Path of the Righteous”, and I’m going to have a rough time picking a single RPM episode. Still need to pick MM2, MM3, Zeo, IS, LR, and NS episodes as well. To be fair I need to finish LG before picking an episode.

I have now watched “The Man Trap”, which has held up rather well. Honestly, I’ve gone about things rather backwards. I first got deeply in Stargate, then Star Wars, and hopefully now Star Trek. As a Beckett & McKay fan, I can’t help but appreciate that the first episode spotlighted Doctor McCoy. :)

... Years ago I watched the first 2 episodes of the Ninth Doctor’s run and realized it wasn’t my cup of tea. So unfortunately I won’t be getting into that fandom.

In any case, I think I’ll enjoy TOS. At the very least, I suspect I’ll have a better appreciation for tropes that appear in Stargate after watching it.

Still need to resume XWP and to begin my OUAT rewatch. For the latter, I really wish laptops would still play discs so I could take screencaps because its costumes are amazing. Maybe there’s a gizmo I can get that’ll help?

My OUAT Rewatch -- S5E11 -- Swan Song

Me getting through this episode . . . . . . . 

So . . . . this is gonna be LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.  I have time, I have opinions, and I’m not holding back.  Under the cut for length and just a heads up there WILL BE BELLE CRITICISM UNDER HERE.  When I get to that point I will strike out all of the Belle critical stuff like this.  It doesn’t mean I don’t MEAN IT -- I just want to give those who can’t handle Belle being dragged the opportunity to easily bypass that section.

So, honestly, as has been the case since this arc crap started, this is a rushed, sloppy, choppy, hacked up episode with a bunch of shit going on, it’s clearly a hot mess of shit, there are OBVIOUS deleted scenes we never saw and never WILL see, and I can totally understand why so many just flat out noped the fuck out of this show at this point.  Because it really is NOT enjoyable and frankly, even knowing what comes, it still makes me stabby.  

But I have to find a way of plodding through this here, so let’s do a point by point order of things, in no particular order:

1.  So Hook murdered his dad and left his little brother an orphan.  Whatta guy!  Honestly, here’s the thing -- all the anti-Rumple folk bitch about how many people he killed, and really I don’t think his body count is higher than Hook’s.  Rumple kills when he’s pissed off, and almost always in a heat of the moment thing (see: Milah, the dudes that used to bully him as a spinner, Tamara).  He doesn’t just go off killing to kill for thrills and funsies and murder trinkets.  Hook has admitted ON SCREEN to killing dozens -- and this was as a mortal with no dark curse whispering in his ear 24/7.  What’s HIS excuse?  

2.  OMG, Emma really just got completely destroyed at this point, didn’t she.  I found a VERY GOOD meta on the destruction of Emma Swan and why CS is such utter bullshit so I thought I’d share it here:

I want to point out specifically, on page 3, what she says about Rumple taking back the Dark One powers:

And then Emma heard all the Parseltongue and followed the sounds to the pawnshop and Rumple was like, "LOL okay you got me, I totally performed a quick spell that somehow cleaved apart the Excalibur and became the Dark One because eff everybody invested in my character. I essentially have a multiple-personality disorder and no one on the writing staff gave me the memo about not trying to convey a genuine struggle while I was playing Rumple these last three years." I'm sorry but this twist was so lazy it infuriated me. I can't believe that shit made it out of a first draft, let alone through studio and network notes.

Which, sadly . . . . . . brings me to Belle and Rumbelle.

So damn . . . . Belle really was kind of a bitch in this episode, huh?  I mean . . . . at the TIME I was happy for the hugs and kisses and sex but watching it again just . . . DAMN . . . . .

For the first time EVER????  GTFO, what kind of shit writing is this???  How did Emilie even deliver that garbage fire of a line with a straight face, and how did Bobby even react to it without a lot of cursing?  Or maybe he did.  We do know that they wanted Rumbelle to bang on the bed in the shop and Bobby put his foot down on that one and they literally created a bedroom set for that 30 second scene because Bobby wasn’t gonna have them film the post-coital scene in the shop.  

So yay for Bobby?

Three. Unquestionably. Though I kind of separate S1 from the other seasons. Of the not-One seasons, Three is the best. 

11. Mad Hatter or Frankenstein?

I rewatched S1 not long ago and I was surprised by how much chemistry Jefferson had with Emma. I liked Whale a lot as a snarky asshole character but on balance I’d have to go with Jefferson.

Charming fighting the Black Knights with baby Emma tucked in his arm.

KW’s O’Donoweek

Hey all! I will be taking part heavily in the O’Donoweek celebrations, and I want to let you all in on what’s to come this next week... as well as how you can join in (or, alternatively, opt out of) the fun and hijinks to come!
