Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in
#viktor#arcane#ig my assumption would be that he wears both simultaneously cause in the scene where he injects the shimmer#it seems implied that he just threw off his clothes and kept experimenting#so one might assume he was already wearing the smaller one underneath#tho it is a funny image to think of him just being like 'one sec i gotta go all the way home and grab my other brace to do this'#he can take off the back brace too cause hes not wearing it in the scene where he's in the hospital bed and you can see his shoulder#where the strap would be#but that one seems to make even less sense functionality wise#everything looks like its screwed together#or screwed INTO him#but only the top bolts on his spine are i think#in the close ups of his back brace model it looks like theres cushioning underneath the parts of it that cover the rest of his spine#so he can take it off. but HOW#what parts of it unscrew/detatch to pull open and off#does it not do that at all and he just has to shimmy it off his shoulder and all the way down his legs to get it off like a romper#the shape language of the designs are cool but like. tell me how it wooorrkkksss#forgive me if im just dumb and dont know at all how braces work and theres a very simple practical explanation for all this#any king who wants to infodump about mobility aids at me....the floor is yours#something to be said i suppose about the fact that zaunites have crazy prosthetics with wild augmentations that work flawlessly#and piltover's like. idk heres some fucking uncomfortable ass metal. salo gets wheelchair in non ada compliant place#they havent ever needed to adapt to accommodate disabilities etc etc#or maybe artists were just like 'heres a design' and everybody clapped and didnt give it a second thought#and then they just turned off the visibility on the mesh when they didnt need it knowing thered not be a scene where its taken off#dont even wanna THINK about what that rig would look like#like 40 different controllers#soft body and rigid hard surfaces needing to move together....#a cold chill just shot up my spine#<- guy who is only an animator and doesnt know how to rig#forgive the magic wand tool with zero cleanup. i am lazy

I didnt have the energy to express that in ink but thats the ult version#adaine I truly imagine to grow up to be the perpetual t shirt and jeans person but she carries her sword everywhere#gorgugs truth is that shes just hot she can wear anything. but I do give him the skirt hike bc I love him#I really like skirt hike... such a fun thing to put in designs. if ur garment has no variance in how it falls or drapes u can do it urself#this is also a little bit of an exercise in how much of an accessory I can freehand from memory#fig's bass I straight up did not fact check for. just rawdogging it memory only. same with fandrangor and adaine's crocs#I did write in my funny little document that gorgug takes up baking and is good at it bc I think itd be good for him#to do basically chemistry and math that also feeds people#out of them... kristen and riz would be Good good at it. but riz would get way too stressed abt the recipe and kristen bakes by#eyeballing the texture. fabian likes decorating but refuses to get anywhere near the heat of an oven. adaine isnt good at it first try#and is like well my effort goes to other things actually. fig Loves baking and Nobody lets her into the kitchen#idk why this manifests so clear in my head. must be bc of recent foccacia events#living in the subtropics is hell for baking nobody try it ok? wanna preface this by saying that i am. So normal. anyway i just spent the last week redrawing scenes from mystery skulls animated but as that hermitcraft au i posted about a couple times. you guys should watch msa it is. so so good.

I wanted to emulate the feel of metal#but turns out my knowledge of how to use rake brushes are in fact. poor#starscream isn't my fav character it's actually d-16 but I really liked screamer's character design#it's such a refreshing take but still recognizable as starscream. the black accent w his classic colors is such a great design#also funnily enough whenever I see tfone starscream fanart his hips are always cocked#I started this piece a month ago so when I saw the other fanarts I'm pretty bemused. new oc!!!! my strange creature!! this is Skyskimmer (or just Skim). they're a weird bird-bug-thing.
more on them under the cut because i love them dearly fhskfhdk
Skyskimmer (they/them, loosely Autobot aligned) is independent to a fault, often to the point of isolation. As a sailplane, they can glide for many hours without needing to land for fuel. Skim wants to be liked and valued, which is hard to do when you look and act like a very unsettling bug and are alone for long periods of time.
Their desire for independence is at odds with their inherent reliance on others, as a sailplane, they don't have a way to get off the ground by themselves and thus must rely on being being winched or towed into the air. Alternatively, thrown like a paper airplane. They can hop and glide short distances on their own (like a bird!), but without the requisite height to catch thermals and updrafts, they are they grounded. They do not mind this, as it allows them to spend more time indulging one of their favorite hobbies- observing humans.
Their interest in humans stems from a sort of scientific enthusiasm/"WOW cool bug!!" type of fascination rather than seeing them as people. Because of this, they have a collection of medical journals and texts from around the world, and is skilled field medic... for humans specifically. Skim is absolutely trash at fixing up their fellow bots, do NOT let them try anything, they will weld someones servo to their leg.
Unfortunately their scientific interest in humans means that they have terrible bedside manner and they will explain to you the many ways you can be eviscerated or die horribly, because they think it's REALLY cool.
... Safe to say, they rarely get to use their (human) medical knowledge.
Skim's real, usable(!!) talent lies in observing meteorological phenomena and predicting weather patterns with startling accuracy. Is it an outlier ability? Or just eerily good readings? Skim doesn't know and doesn't care, it's one of the only times they have an excuse to glide without having to ask someone to help them into the sky, so they'll take what they can get.

as someone who was in the mines of "drawing a characters robotic arm from increasingly difficult angles" before, i yearn for those times. so heres my take on blu engie's gunslinger, based on modern prosthetic forearms
its worth noting that, before he cloned himself to create red engie, he had the original gunslinger, ie he was only missing his hand. he decided to upgrade himself not only bc he had the means to, but bc he wanted to differentiate himself from his clone so that he would always be distinctly the original, even if he would be the only one to know that
inspired by vi's hextech gauntlets and ofc, johnny silverhand's arm. i miss drawing johnny every day of my life
