Beef Salpicao
The ideal dish saving you time in the kitchen and enabling you to spend more time with your family. This delectable Filipino dish is called beef salpicao. Recognized for its succulent beef cubes cooked in a flavorful sauce with a lot of garlic. It is easy to make and can be eaten as a main course or as an appetizer. One of the greatest comfort dishes ever. Delightful with a bowl of white rice.
To me, food is as much about the moment, the occasion, the location and the company as it is about the taste.
- Heston Blumenthal

A couple of sketches from my novella, Metalmade. I meant to post this back in February for the 2nd-year anniversary of its launch, but I got sick and didn't have the energy to finish it until now.
It's about a sentient robot that gets tasked to spy on a taho-peddler to determine if he's actually an aswang in disguise, but despite her best efforts, she gets quite befuddled by him. That conversation they're having in the 2nd pic was so much fun to write.
Actually this whole novella was so much fun to write, and I have quite a few ideas for Yaya and Digan's adventures in Sagabilang, so a possible sequel is not off the table!

Kangkong (Water Spinach) with Bacon
I was thrilled to see this at the Asian grocery and promptly grabbed it because I was craving a healthy supper choice. This green veggie was a staple of my childhood. In our backyard, my father planted this particular veggie. Cooking oil, garlic, onions, vinegar, and soy sauce are used to sauté it. This is a fantastic main course or side dish. It's a terrific vegetarian recipe even without the bacon, but I decided to add some. A tasty, fresh dish that fulfilled my need.

Kabigat with the Head of Chal-chal's Son
Once upon a time, the Moon, a woman named Kabigat, was making a large copper pot. While she was working, the son of a man named Chal-chal, the Sun, came by and watched her. Kabigat dipped her pip-i, a paddle, into the water and rubbed it over the stone. She then pounded the molten copper with the stone in her hand. The son was amazed by the pot as it grew large and beautiful. Suddenly, Kabigat looked up and saw the son and immediately struck him with her pip-i, cutting off his head! Although Chal-chal was not there, he knew Kabigat had cut off his son’s head. He rushed to where they were and put his son’s head back on his body, and the boy was alive again.  Then the Sun said to the Moon, “Because you have cut off my son’s head, the people of the Earth will forever cut off each other’s heads.”

been trying to make a concerted effort to be more appreciative of my filipino heritage by engaging with the culture, learning about the history and... the pop music :') and i discovered boy group ALAMAT who are k-pop-esque but unique in that they put a distinctly filipino spin by highlighting their own diverse ethnic & cultural background by incorporating myths, traditional textiles, art, dance & history in their body of work.
super super recommend checking out their songs & MVs on youtube, if you're filipino or not!
