Dancer are a Glaswegian supergroup of sorts. The band is made up of members from Current Affairs, Nightshift, Robert Sotelo and Order of the Toad. When I first heard them, I immediately thought of Life Without Buildings (also a Glasgow based band). But upon further listening I'd like a cross between Delta 5, Maximum Joy and Vomit Launch.

GoldMold Records is releasing this on cassette. I'd never heard of the label, but I've enjoyed listening to their stable of bands.

Like humans, mermaids change a lot as they grow. Some of the most vivid colored species start out as tiny creatures camouflaging into their surroundings.

This Red Sea Toad mermaid started out as a shrinking little thing, but grew into a curious and adventurous adult. It's incredible how different we can become as we age.

Some species of mermaids completely change their environment in different life stages, others shift colors, features, size, even their reproductive sex!

While bodies change according to nature, minds are much more complex. Growth as an individual, personality, preferences, gender, talents and so on; all are determined by the individuals mermaid themselves.

With parallel growth, human and mermaid children who grow up on the edge of each others' worlds can form friendships with each other just as deeply as with their own species. As a backdrop to these relationships, coastal settlements are some of the most diverse cities in the world.

i got emotional listening to See You Again by tyler, the creator. i thought of how long mario and peach have been a part of each other’s lives, and so i wanted to paint one of their very first romantic moments. painting in the N64 style was TONS of fun!

Luaisy's great, why does Nintendo do nothing with it?

I was thinking about Daisy's trophy celebration cutscene in Mario Power Tennis after watching a video about Luaisy, and you know what?

I'm gonna go over it bit by bit to show how one singular scene actually ends up saying ALOT about them and how they interact (which is good because it's pretty much the only cutscene they get in...anything 😭):

OK so Luigi specifically being the one to hand out her trophy isn't a big deal, he hands multiple characters their trophies, even characters he isn't particularly close to like Shy Guy and Wiggler. Still, in this case, instead of giving a formal "Congratulations" like he does with most of the other characters he gives trophies to, he excitedly goes "Oh Yeah!"

I'm actually not sure if he's trying to hype up the crowd (since he does turn towards the crowd as he says it, which is why he doesn't see Daisy coming before it's too late), or if he's just especially happy that Daisy won, but either way, I'm sensing favouritism!

But whatever, right? He likes her, we know that. The moment when this scene really starts getting good is when Daisy, wearing roller skates at her own awards ceremony by the way, zips right past him.

Not because she doesn't care about Luigi at all, she says "Hey Sweetie!" earnestly as she zooms past, that's something you only say to someone you care for. What's funny about this to me is that it shows where her priorities lie - she'd rather soak in the glory of her victory and wave at the crowd, even doing a little spin to show off as she stops. Let me be clear, I love this. I love this because it says a lot about Daisy in just a few seconds: she's sporty, she's reckless, she's a bit of a show off, she's more improper than one would typically expect from a princess, and she's prideful, although she does make sure to thank the crowd for their applause.

Luigi, in contrast to Daisy's show of energy and athleticism, is shown to be unalert and clumsy, as he doesn't move out of the way quickly enough and is left spinning. Something something opposites attract.

Daisy then says "I'll take that." in a rather brash way, before going back for the trophy. Then she either tries to grab the trophy but misses, or intentionally spins Luigi around this time just to provide an opportunity to show off, I'm honestly not too sure.

I like both possibilities, as they show either:

A) Unlike Luigi in...pretty much any game during the GameCube era up until (and after) that point (he can even be heard going "Oh nooooo..." in this very scene once the trophy slips from his grasp), she's not one to immediately panic or get worried when something goes wrong, suggesting she's more easy-going. She's also shown to be a lot more alert as she immediately circles back round, eyes only on the trophy, and expertly manages to catch it. This is also another good show of her athleticism.

or

B) Just how eager she is to show off, as she doesn't mind messing with her partner (in a way that not malicious of course) just to provide an opportunity to do a sick trick in front of an audience. She's very much not the nurturing type (good for her).

Either way, the cutscene ends with her catching her trophy and blowing a kiss to the audience. Luigi isn't even annoyed as he's once again left spinning, all he has to say is: "Nice catch" before collapsing on the stage. That guy is his girlfriend's Number 1 fan.

And that's Luaisy! An athletic, reckless, cocky, not-so-typical princess dating a very supportive, but nervous and clumsy boyfailure...

It's too bad everything they get afterwards can pretty much be summed up as: "They sure are standing next to each other."

I really didn't know what to expect. I kind of thought this was "Order of the Toad" (Robert Sotelo), but no, this is The Toads from Melbourne, Australia. The Toads are made up of members from The Shifters, Parsnip and The Living Eyes.

Musically, this sounds like the above mentioned bands. The vocals and lyrics are described as "deadpan musings". They remind me a bit of Eddy Current Suppression Ring.

This is being co-released by Anti Fade Records (Australia) and Upset the Rhythm (UK).
