i think the craziest part of the percy jackson series—(warning i’m gonna be talking about child abuse)
—is that sally married gabe. “she was using him to hide percy’s demigod scent.” she married a man who physically abused her child. like. i get it’s a very nuanced situation and that demigods literally don’t even exist but yk what does exist? moms who marry men that abuse their children… like girl. there are plenty of bum ass men who smoke weed and eat pizza and looove their ciggies and instead of abusing ur kid they would straight up ignore him and if they were a demigod their scent would STILL be hidden

One of the running themes in "humans are space orcs" circles is the idea that humans will bond with anything. I can think of plenty of stories of humans making friends with wild animals, alligators, predators, creatures that aliens would immediately recognize as too dangerous for contact. But I was reading a story about two orangutans released back into the wild today and there's a certain element to that story I haven't seen so often: humans will bond with animals regardless of whether the bond is reciprocal.
For every story of a human making friends with some unlikely creature, there are dozens of stories of conservation specialists tranquilizing animals, tending to their wounds or illness, and releasing them because they're too dangerous to handle consciously. Stories of tagging birds of prey and timber wolves and Siberian tigers. Fat Bear Week? Any of those bears would rip your face off without hesitation. But they're round and fluffy and intimidating and beautiful and we love them even though they hate us. We make an effort to protect our monsters, because we love our monsters.
Imagine an alien planet that's experiencing ecological degradation. Their flora is dying, and they can't figure out why. And, offhandedly, in a diplomatic mission, an allied planet mentions that humans have successfully reversed similar devastation on Earth. So they reach out and Earth sends some experts to check it out. And what do they suggest? Reintroducing an apex predator that used to be a scourge against alien settlements. The species still exists in other regions of the planet, but it is slowly disappearing outside of its native habitat.
The aliens are askance. They've told bedtime stories to their young of these creatures: how they tear apart their prey, how they've eaten their organs and rip apart their homes. Some suggest that it's a trick—that the humans are trying to prompt them into destroying themselves.
But there are many alien cultures on this planet, with many different stories and some of them agree. The world watches in anticipation as the humans help their predators. They seek them out, these fearless otherworlders, putting them to sleep and tending their wounds. They keep track of the beasts, not to harm them, but to protect them.
At first the doomsayers' prophecy seems to come true. The predators devour prey animals like a feast, like a slaughter to people who have never been so close to the circle of life. But then, slowly, not over months but over years, comes change. The prey no longer eat the leaves and buds of every tree; some are left to bloom and fall. The refuse rots in the dirt, and the floods cease as the soil grows thick with compost and rotted bone, thick enough to hold water. The shapes of rivers change to protect their surroundings from the rain. The pollinators rebound.
Decades later, other cities and nations begin to accept this human myth of "conservation." Champions arise, alien champions, now, who go into the depths of the wilderness and the seas to protect those predators from the apathy of time.
Not all of them make it. This is something else the humans teach. Sometimes the tranquilizers are not enough. Sometimes the timing is wrong. Sometimes accidents happen. And when they do, the aliens look to humans for an answer for why they should protect these creatures who have killed those they love?
"Because they knew the risks," the humans say. "Because they would be the first to speak to save them. Because they taught you to see the beauty in the wild and you must not close your eyes."
So, despite themselves, they don't.

good graces (caesar x human!reader)
summary: A remarkable ape catches your eye at the sanctuary.
warnings: angst, swearing, mild fluff
words: 0.8k
notes: just a little drabble... he owns me now i fear. enjoy!
Tumblr media
gif credit
“Hungry?” You hum with a soothing tone, petting the orangutan’s head to catch his attention. He eyes you and signs positively, making you smile. “That’s why you’re my favourite, but don’t tell anyone. They might get jealous.” You tease and Maurice grunts in response, clearly amused by your words.
You were a volunteer at the sanctuary for a year now and you attempted your best to help the apes in light of the clear mistreatment they received from that blond asshole. You lost count of how many times you tried to get him fired, but the owner simply didn’t care enough for the animals to do something about it, so your only option was to show some kindness when you fed them or went inside to clean the cages. Most were indifferent to your presence there when it wasn’t food related, outside from Maurice and Cornelia, who had gentler personalities. Until something happened.
Someone.
A newbie came along—wearing clothes, no less. He was standoffish and kept to himself a lot, but the primates didn’t like him already, especially Rocket; and so you watched with an aching heart as he beat up Caesar and no one did anything to stop it, ape or human. You wanted to step in and do something, anything, even if it meant you getting hurt in the process, however it was out of your reach.
“That’s just how nature works, (y/n).” The boss tried to console you that morning, to which you only huffed in indignation.
As weeks went by, the newcomer got settled in, albeit not without his fair amount of struggles. Everyone picked on him and one day, you simply had enough. Stepping inside the area of the cages, your ears ringed as the animals screeched in excitement, probably thinking you were bringing food. You strolled towards Rocket’s cell and tapped lightly on it, catching his attention.
“You need to stop.” You sign firmly, although being fully aware Rocket didn’t know ASL as well as Maurice did. The other apes look at you with a mix of confusion, some even getting angry at the realisation you’re not there to feed them, and they start screaming again. You continue, your hands swift, “leave Caesar alone.”
As you said that, your eyes fell automatically on Caesar’s cage at the end of the hall. He stared at you quietly, his green orbs filled with curiosity and sheer surprise at your display of protection. Amidst the bullying he endured daily, the ape didn’t have time to take note of your kind acts, the hurt from being abandoned by Will the only thing in his mind—up until that moment, that is. The apes kept on shrieking while you sighed and prepared yourself to leave at last. A gesture from Caesar made you stop in your tracks, though. You never saw him speak to anyone before.
“Come.” He signs almost stealthily, blinking impatiently towards you.
You step closer to his cage and ignore the loud sounds around you, raising your brows. “You know how to sign?”
He hoots softly, suddenly excited at your interest. “Dad taught Caesar.”
You can’t help but grin, nodding slowly. “That’s amazing… I never saw a chimp sign before, only orangutans.”
He grunts and points to you, asking, “why defend Caesar?”
You consider his question for a split second and shrug. “Why not?”
He snorts happily at your answer. It’s like music to your ears, for you never heard him make such a sound before. He glances back at his cell, staring into blank space as he remembers the harsh treatment he was put through every day. “Everyone hates Caesar.” He signs simply. A statement, as if it was a known fact.
You shake your head vehemently, eyeing him with resolve. “I don’t hate you.”
As Caesar finds your gaze again, he seems deeply affected by your response, walking closer to rest his forehead against the cage. “Thank you.”
“No need to thank me. Just helping a fellow primate out.” You grin, touching his hand through the cold metal separating you both.
He’s surprised by your touch, the warmth of your hand sending chills down his spine. He looks down at your fingers as his eyebrows raise, his own twitching without being able to grab yours in return. Caesar hoots once more, his expression softening. “Stay.” He pleads, his palm signing desperately.
You feel your chest tighten at the sight, giving him a bittersweet smile. “I’ll come back to feed you in a few hours.”
A whimper escapes him, Caesar’s body hunching forward in disappointment. A moment passes and although his demeanour deflates considerably, he grunts in acknowledgement, still eyeing you eagerly, “Caesar wait.”
You only chuckled to yourself and exchanged one last hand wave with Caesar, walking out of the cages’ room with your head down. Soon you’d have to tell Maurice there was competition to your good graces, now.

[I look after you.] [POTA headcanons!]
Tumblr media
Summary: Random acts of service I think each ape would do for you!
Characters: Caesar, Noa, Koba, Maurice Rocket, Blue eyes, Lake, Cornelius, and Dar.
Warnings: Caesar and Noa's are meant to be romantic. Dar and Cornelius are platonic as well. The others could be read as platonic or romantic, though!
A/N: These are all just random thoughts I've had today. Some will be shorter than others due to just how many characters I tried to include, so bare with me!
Tumblr media
Caesar has a sixth sense as to when you're gonna get hurt, it's uncanny.
Humans are clumsy and more fragile than others, he knows as such because of his grandfather and Will, seeing them trip and fall over nothing, stub their toe and curse, it's almost as if they didn't have spatial awareness at times.
His reflexes are faster than his words.
So he knows when you're about to slam your forehead full force into a wooden beam, immediately throwing a hand up to soften the blow.
You instinctually let out an "Ow!" Before realizing you're okay, your mates warm hand against your skin. The Chimp raises an eye bridge up at you, looking towards you and then his hand.
"Oh."
Tumblr media
Koba doesn't do anything nice for you without the expectation that you will do something for him in return.
One thing he will do is protect you against yourself, mainly out of pure pity.
Your center of gravity is different than his, and the woods are not meant for you, so get used to Koba yanking you back from a steep drop.
He isn't gentle about it, fist curled into your jacket and roughly dragging you backward, letting out a shrill against his knowledge.
You knock against his chest, his body immediately giving off its warmth to your own.
You're too scared to look up at Koba, knowing damn well he's gonna be glaring down at you, a comment ready to go.
Unfortunately for you, he does it regardless if you meet his gaze or not.
"Should have. Let you fall." He growls, hoping you can't somehow feet his heartbeat pumping out of his chest.
Tumblr media
Noa enjoys caring for you, making your life easier by any means necessary, whether it be by learning how to make you tools that help you fish easier, cooking your meat for you, knowing that your anatomy is different, to teaching you to the best of his ability how to hunt more efficiently.
It's his love language, not that he'd be aware of it. It makes him feel like a good mate, and that boosts his ego.
He gets so mad if you try and wave him off, scoffing at the thought of you not needing him.
What do you mean you're fine on your own? Nuh uh.
Has pouted before and got huffy if you get off of your horse without him helping you down, turning his back to you childishly as he sighs as long as possible.
I hate him.
Tumblr media
Maurice lets you cuddle into him for warmth. His fur is longer than the others, and he runs warm. He worries for you when the winters get rough. There's only so much they can do other than set a fire up and wrap you with animal hides.
Sometimes, it's not enough, and shivering yourself to sleep isn't fun.
Maurice considers you family, being the first first ape to truly take you in, he'd never turn you away from when you need him most.
Never needing permission, you quietly make your way to the Orangutan's nest, trying your best not to step on any leaves or branches.
Gingerly taking your time to settle next to Maurice, lowering your body down.
Taking a glance at Nova resting on his other side, you don't catch his eyes peering open, a hand coming up to sign slowly.
'Come.'
Lifting a long arm, he allows you to curl into his side, finally granting you a good night's rest.
Tumblr media
Blue eyes always makes sure you're apart of the conversation, if he and Ash are goofing around, and you're standing off to the side, he's gonna immediately poke small fun at you to get your attention.
The second he has it, he's gesturing you over to their little circle at the camp fire, asking you what humans think of whatever subject they're talking about.
Baby Blue will shove his shoulder into Ash if he tries to make fun of you, knowing well that you may not take it as friendly banter just yet.
Tumblr media
If you're gonna be with the colony, you'll need a protector, and who else is a better, more loyal one than Rocket.
No ape is being disrespectful towards you on his watch, you're important to Caesar and while that was in fact originally the reason he made it a point to keep an eye on you, he's come to love you himself.
An Ape comes up to you, asking something wildly inappropriate?
Rocket gets up in their face, making direct eye contact and puffing out his chest for them to back the fuck off, daring them to make a move, all while making sure you're well hidden behind himself.
Tumblr media
Lake enjoys braiding your hair for you, the different texture offering a welcome challenge compared to her own.
She's so gentle and light handed, her fingers weaving the strands to the best of her ability, fingers much too large.
It's a bonding experience between the two of you, her downtime, after working with the little ones for hours previously.
Tumblr media
The littlest ape prince is no stranger to clinging on to you at any point in time. Even as he grows older and gets to be too heavy to sit on your lap or climb up your back, he does it anyway. Wrapping his arms around your neck and hiding his face against your skin.
He does it when looking for comfort, but also for when he's being a little shit and his dad is searching for him to chastise.
Cornelius knows that when you're near, you're gonna spoil and baby him, and that's exactly what he wants, hiding behind you.
He is observant like his father, always in tune with your emotions and knows when you need to have company so you don't stew in your own head.
Drags you off to play with the other apes, not taking no for an answer even if you try to. He pulls those puppy dog eyes and it's damn near impossible to deny him.
Tumblr media
Taking on a motherly role for you comes with ease, Dar slipping into it once Noa vouches for you.
She makes sure to take you under her wing, teaching you their ways of life in the a view point of an elder, not just Noas.
Please don't imagine that she'd make you your own shawl, matching her own, literally don't bc I teared up.
She'd be ecstatic to see you wear it around the colony, staring at you. She's so proud of you from how far you've come.
Dar will blatantly introduce you to others as her child, no matter what another ape says. Which wouldn't be much to begin with, became who is gonna argue with her? She won't hear a word of it, waving them off.

Please 🙏🏽 please make a Caesar fic, it can be about anything. Like when he first saw reader or when one of them confessed to each other, anything about him and I’ll be satisfied
Troublesome. [Caeser x Human!Reader]
Implied Caeser x Human!Reader
Summary: Ceaser when he first saw the reader (realizing he's developing feelings).
Rating: No warnings
Fandom: Planet of the apes
A/N: I'm swooning istg isn't Caeser just a charming ol' man, I really enjoyed writing this since I do love me some flirtatious gazes and pining. I hope you like this piece, anon! ❤️
Tumblr media
When you appeared in all your human glory, blood smeared on your forehead and an almost primal glint in your eye with all the intent in the world to protect yourself, Caeser was unsure on how to proceed as you were clearly in need of help but your very presence unsettled the colony.
Maurice was more than empathetic on your behalf imploring their leader to aid the poor human, it was obvious you were alone and you must have either encountered rogue humans or wild predators in the wooded area, you seemed unwilling of speaking on it.
After relenting, Caeser was surprised at how settled you became in the colony and even going as far to become a contributing member, keeping close to Maurice and giving a helping hand to the younger apes. You've taken a liking to the peaceful orangutan, feeling as he was the only ally in your time of need, his advocating on your behalf turning a tide for you.
You held a more confident air to you now and it intrigued him as he kept a watchful eye on you more than he did before and it seemed you were aware of his gaze as you weren't afraid of looking back at him, your long lashes fluttering softly as you made show of encasing him with your eyes. He wasn't oblivious to your own intrigue of him, you regarding him and following his movements whenever given the chance.
He felt the fur on his shoulders rise in anticipation at the action, his chest puffing out in response to your interest. He refused to be put off by your boldness, but he couldn't help the preening feeling in the back of his mind.
He hadn't thought of seeking out another mate after the passing of Cornelia, the birth of their second son and leading the colony occupying all his time but the thought crossed his mind as he watched the almost tasteful way your body turned away from him, your stare breaking away from him.
He had no difficulty with admitting that your humanly beauty was appealing to him, after all being reared by humans he always sought their companionship in one way or another and your very presence was a reminder of that.
He felt the tension building in his shoulder as he watched you interact with Cornelius, your expression carrying heavy notes of kindness and compassion as you carried his youngest son, the young chimp's pant hoots showing his excitement of playing with your hair.
You had qualities that appealed to him in numerous ways, and he's unsure if he's willing to act upon that observation. You're carried yourself in such a way that it was compelling to him. He was aware of his status in the colony and how revered he was by all the apes in the colony, but you brought forward a feeling he hasn't felt in awhile, an almost inherent need to display not only his qualities as a leader but also as a potential mate.
He huffs as he watches your gaze slowly trail back up the perch he was standing on..How troublesome..

Echoes of Eden by Kida
Noa x Mae - #omgisthisastorywithplot?
Chapter 2: Echoes of Eden by Kida – @kidasthings on Tumblr
Tumblr media
Prologue
Three centuries after a catastrophic virus decimated human intelligence, turning the survivors into primal shadows of their former selves, the world has irrevocably changed. The ALZ virus, originally intended to combat Alzheimer's disease, not only ravaged humanity but inadvertently gave rise to a new dominant species: intelligent apes.
Near the ruins of what was once Los Angeles, Noa, a valiant chimpanzee of the Eagle clan, has just thwarted a power-hungry bonobo, Proximus Caesar, from enslaving his people. Guided by the teachings of a certain orangutan, Raka, who revered the nearly forgotten, peace-loving chimp Caesar, Noa believes in a world where apes and humans can coexist peacefully. However, during his quest, he encounters Mae, a human who defies his expectations. Mae, immune to the virus and possessing the ability to speak, challenges Noa's perceptions of humans as mere animals.
Together, Noa and Mae manage to prevent Proximus Caesar from seizing a cache of potent human technology by flooding an old bunker. In the process, Mae secures a crucial computer drive that enables her underground human community to reconnect with distant survivors, bridging isolated pockets of humanity; she also manages to betray Noa and his clan by leaving them to fend for themselves.
As Mae's group in Los Angeles prepares to merge with new allies from Fort Wayne, Indiana, tensions escalate. Unaware of Mae's bond with Noa, a small but well-armed scouting party from Fort Wayne comes across the Eagle Clan’s village on their way to Los Angeles to meet up with Mae’s people.
Far more adept on their own home turf, the scouting party is caught by the apes, rounded up, and held hostage. Their weapons are confiscated. Mae is called in when the scouting party never reports to the underground bunker where the rest of the intelligent humans in her group seek refuge. Caught between her origins and her convictions, Mae faces the ultimate choice during the tense encounter: stand with her human kin or protect Noa, the ape she has come to admire.
This story explores the fragile hope for reconciliation in a world torn apart by fear and prejudice. Can Noa and Mae forge a path toward peace, or will the shadows of old wars darken the future dreamed of by the legendary Caesar?
---------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1
In the dense shadows cast by the towering trees that skirt the Eagle clan's village, the air was thick with tension and the faint scent of smoke from distant fires. The setting sun bled red over the horizon, casting long shadows across the rough-hewn faces of the Eagle clan and their new captives. Five ALZ-immune humans from Fort Wayne sat bound and rigid, their eyes darting nervously as they listened to the low, ominous murmurs of the assembled apes.
Noa moved deliberately among the captives, his demeanor stern yet marked by an inherent fairness. Each human he approached met his gaze with a mix of defiance and fear, but none spoke. They clung to their silence like a shield, even under the weight of Noa's penetrating stare.
"No purpose here can be good if it starts with secrets," Noa stated, his voice resonating with a calm authority as he paused before a younger man whose jaw was stubbornly set.
The chants from the simian crowd grew louder, a discordant mix of anger and fear, with proposals of banishment or worse. They remembered what happened with Proximus Caesar, the obsession with human technology and worldly knowledge, and want none of it. Noa raised a hand, called for silence, but the restlessness was palpable, a living thing that fed on uncertainty and fear.
At the perimeter of the village, a human woman keeps a low profile in the brush. She had followed a single flare that burst bright in the sky to this location. It was a habitual thing, to bypass this region when doing her rounds in the forest. Immunity to the Simian Flu had bequeathed her the role of tracker, hunter, and scout after her initial mission was completed. Brown hair, blue eyes like the sky, Mae can only watch the scene unfold with a pounding heart. Worry lines were etched deeply into her brow, and her hand reached up to clutch at something around her neck - Raka's pendant - the symbol of peace promoted by an ape named Caesar long ago.
Noa gave her that pendant. For an inopportune moment, Mae was lost in reverie.
Without warning, a strong hand gripped her shoulder, yanked her from the shadows. Mae stumbled forward, dragged into the open. Her breath caught as she was thrown unceremoniously to the ground before Noa and his human captives. Dust and small stones bit into her palms as she caught herself, and a small grunt escaped her lips.
The sudden appearance of the human - a known and not particularly fondly remembered human - amongst them drew shocked gasps and murmurs.
Noa’s eyes widened in recognition, then narrowed in a complex tumult of emotion. The last time they parted, it was with a promise of peace, and yet here she was, thrown at his feet, disrupting the fragile balance he had fought to maintain.
Mae’s chest heaved as she pushed herself up slightly, her voice raspy but resolute as she met Noa's gaze. A single word hangs between them, charged with layers of meaning, a plea, a greeting, a reminder of shared dreams and bitter realities.
"Noa."
In that moment, the world narrowed to the space between them. Noa stood motionless, the voices around him faded into a distant hum. His heart fought a fierce battle within, torn between his duty to his clan and the undeniable pull he felt towards this woman who embodied both the past they shared and the future they might still forge. He can see Caesar’s pendant, an encircled diamond, as it swung from Mae’s neck wildly.
She still had it.
It is a symbol of ideals that suddenly seem so distant in the face of palpable tension and looming conflict.
The standoff stretched out, every breath, every silent plea, every hope and fear suspended in the dusty air of the dying day.
“Noa,” Mae tried again, defeated. She pulled herself up to stand on shaky, coltish legs. The Eagle Clan scout that initially seized her did not reach for her again as Noa lifted one hand to stay him.
Noa closed his eyes, as if in contemplation.
“What are you doing here?” he finally asked, as he reopened his eyes and shuttered his gaze.
Mae’s lips thinned out into a seamless line, and she cut a gaze over to the trussed-up humans attached to poles in the center of the village.
Noa nodded, once. He did not need much more than that as he added, “They approached our borders. We do not yet know their intention.”
The five Fort Wayne humans, still tied tight, share deliberate looks of fear between themselves. There is clear intelligence writ into their faces. They are not gagged, much to the chagrin of some of the villagers, as Noa would not have it. Still, they are oddly quiet. A few cast curious looks at Mae, no recognition in their eyes. The only woman in the group chewed her lower lip in frustration. Her blonde hair is cut short in a severe bob.
“Let them go, Noa.” Mae stated boldly, taking a step forward. Two other apes, positioned parallel to her, moved to intercept her advance towards the hero of the Eagle Clan. Once again, Noa lifted his calloused palm and gritted his sharp canines.
“Follow,” he told her, indicating something or someplace to the left with a sharp jerk of his head.
There is a short murmur of indignation from the gathered villagers, save for a small group which consisted of Soona, Anaya, and Noa’s mother. They appeared stuck in a shallower tumult of emotion. Noa’s mother took a step forward, unsure, but Soona placed her palm on the female ape’s furry shawl-covered shoulder and stopped her.
Mae’s eyes followed Noa, capturing his unique profile in a blink, and then dipped her head and hesitated. It is always that hesitation, caught between following an ape and leaving her kind behind, but with a reluctant glance at the captives she turned to follow.
He led her to a towering edifice of wood and natural materials that might be described as a tree house. Far above them, hawks circled in the sky, their soaring shadows blotting out the last rays of the sun. They landed at the top of the tower, a dizzying height, and screeched down at her.
Noa ascended a small ramp and stepped past a woven flap of material.
Mae did the same after taking a moment to peer backwards over her shoulder to ascertain the serious faces of a few apes herding her to the entrance.
Once inside, the darkness enveloped her, and the woman became hyper-aware of a dual pair of reflective eyes that watched her in the darkness of the interior.
“You came back,” he said, voice rough with something like emotion.
“Not by choice,” she quipped, and then stepped sideways away from the shaft of light thrown down by the door.
“Why?” It’s a simple question for a complex answer, and she wasn’t ready to answer it.
“I saw a distress signal in the sky,” she replied easily, eyes skating over the shadows and shapes in the interior of the newly rebuilt tower. “I had to see for myself. It looked like a human flare.”
“A flare?” he questioned; voice flat.
“It’s a human thing,” she sighed.
She heard him padding closer to her, his eerie eyes backlit by whatever reflective photo-sensitive cells nocturnal animals possessed. More of his face came into detail. After he stood about a few feet away, he stopped.
Mae froze.
“You have  ... it,” he informed her quietly.
“Yeah,” she agreed.
A hand reached out, seemingly disembodied in black space, and she felt the immediate lift of the small weight at her neck.
“Do you ... still believe .. in what it stands for?”
Her answer is the same as before, the same empty mantra. “I-I don’t know, Noa.”
A huff, a sigh. The weight on the back of the cord returned and he stepped back.
“Let them go,” Mae demanded, again.
He did not reply, not right away, but he did give her a long look. It was hard for her to discern in the dim dark, but it might be a soft rebuke. “I have to know … why they are … here.”
Mae’s mind shut down, because she wasn’t ready, or can’t tell him that. Her group of survivors had been expecting the Fort Wayne scouting party for months now. The underground bunker housing her people was the last of its kind for hundreds of miles. They had not come across any other intelligent humans in that time, so this must be the group they awaited. Mae was not an idiot; she had seen the sentry apes rifling through a small stockpile of guns on the ground when she was roughly manhandled to the ground.
She trusted Noa situationally, sure, but did she trust him with this?
There might have been a flash of hurt on his face but the dim interior concealed it well. “They belong with me,” is all she can muster.
“Tell the truth,” he parried back. There was a frustrated edge to his voice, nearly a growl.
“I am telling the truth,” she quipped stubbornly.
“Mae,” he refuted quietly, moving so fast that he is suddenly in her space again, too much and too soon. She gasped, caught off guard. His fingers found Raka’s necklace again, still around her neck. He was staring hard at it.
“Tell … me.”
Her tongue is nothing but a slug in her mouth, unable to form words. Noa had never been this close before, taking up her space, her attention, her very being. Caught between one moment and the next, she shook her head in utter disbelief. She could see his features more clearly, the craggy brow, the dark-light eyes, the slight downturn of his mouth beneath an inhuman nose. For a second, he gripped the pendant around her neck tightly, as if he wanted to hold it for some length of time, and then released it yet again to step past her.
Their shoulders brushed, and Mae forgot to breathe.
His voice carried over from somewhere behind her, close to the entrance. “If you will … not speak …  they will.” A rustle of fabric against fur, and he is gone.
Within the crude tower, Mae lets out the breath she held in a slow whoosh.
Noa.

Good morning! May I ask for the Monkey Kings' reactions to Y/N who just woke up (beside the SWKs, cuddled up to them [the SWKs] if they're off somewhere, or Y/N sat up from a nap) to cuddle the kings after a big fight against enemies they had finished together? Full bedhead, brain is on blank document mode, you get the picture. Something like him loving the stark contrast of Y/N demolishing enemies just as effectively as he does with fervor when they're usually calm & collected. Something transitioning from evening to morning like:
"Oh Gods, Y/N is actually scary... Why is this attractive?" [evening]
to
"Oh Gods, look at that bedhead! So fluffy! So messy! They look like a baby orangutan! Y/N is the cutest thing to ever exist! How'd I end up with them in my arms!?" [morning]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Lmk Wukong) Wukong is so very used to you threatening somebody's life. So you can imagine his Bewilderment the next morning, as you're laying next to him smiling softly brushing his fur. He would be baffled by the sudden change of behavior but purrs along with you feeling at peace like you. It may be rare for you not to join him in blood fueled battle, but it's nice to hold you close like this.
Tumblr media
(NR Wukong) He loves to cuddle you so close, He loves to feel your warm nude body on his and it's wonderful. it felt like it was only yesterday you were Tearing a demon apart for daring to harass Su. The personality change never fails to make his head spin but he doesn't mind, as long as you know that you are loved and appreciated by him and everyone around you.
Tumblr media
(HIB Wukong) He's the same as you, you know that right. I mean Considering he became a father of 2 and is now in a constant state of stress and protection.Sometimes you forget that he was once the vicious an ambitious monkey king. Although he may have chilled out over the years, he still has to remind people about how lethal he can be But this isn't about him now, isn't it? It's about you. Your his other half you know someone who understands him more then anyone, you get protective, you get angry, you find peace, you are at peace Just like him.
Tumblr media
(MKR Wukong) Two deadly monkeys joined together in a early morning cuddle session. Wukong was perplexed with how quiet and peaceful and weirdly adorable you are in the morning. It's difficult to believe that this is the same mate who broke the spines of many enemies and stick your thumbs into their eyes as they scream in mayhem and pain. Wukong loves both sides of you and wouldn't dare tell you to change unless he wants his eyes poked out as well.
Tumblr media
(Netflix Wukong) He purred as you scratched his chin smiling down at him, it's so difficult to believe how the same hands that were use to crunch skulls. Are the same one that gently pet him and give him messages and chin scratches, the mornings will always be lovely with you and he will continue to keep it that way forevermore.
Tumblr media
(BMW Wukong) interesting enough he's at a sense of peace with you in this state. He's is used to fighting along side you in battle, but right now your so soft and calm. How did he get someone so Fierce, and so elegant like you Make Murder and War Beautiful and he would cherish you forever.
Tumblr media
(The Destined one) He likes morning like these, just the two of you having a moment of silence. You both have had a long day of battling enemies, and being on your journey together but for him to see how peaceful you can be when your not spilling blood makes him happy all the same.

[Documentary News]Terry Pratchett’s Jungle Quest
Tumblr media
This long lost 26 minute documentary, originally shown on channel 4, has been lovingly restored by its creators and is now available on Amazon Prime Video for all to see.
Made in 1995, a full 18 years before the much acclaimed Facing Extinction, Terry embarked on a journey of discovery into the jungles of Borneo with Ian Redmond and Dr Birute Galdikas to find these secretive creatures for himself.
"When Terry Pratchett, best-selling author of the 'Discworld' series of Science Fantasy novels, invented the much loved character of 'The Librarian', he could not have imagined that it would be the beginning of a personal quest that would take him into the jungles of Borneo.
The books began Terry's interest in and concern for orangutans; he even became a trustee of the Orangutan Foundation.  Terry realised that he knew very little about these close cousins of humans and planned a boat trip, up the Sekonyer River from Kumi in Borneo to meet orangutans in the wild.  His travelling companion was Ian Redmond, a primatologist who worked with Diane Fossey and the gorillas of Rwanda, and who now wanted to photograph orangutans for his latest book.  Ian too was visiting Borneo for the first time.
Almost on his arrival, Terry encountered his first orangutan - in a cage!  It was an ex-captive, baby orang, victim of the trade in orangutans as pets, waiting to be returned to the jungle.  Keeping orangs as pets used to be an Indonesian tradition.  Now, with just 300,000 left in the wild, it is illegal - catching the babies often involves killing the mothers.
Terry’s mission had an aim beyond encountering orangutans in their natural habitat.  He also hoped to make contact with the legendary Birute Galdikas, a contemporary of Fossey's who has been working with and studying orangutans in Borneo for over twenty years.  When he tracked her down at her remote base at Camp Leakey he learned that Birute regards orangutans as ‘another kind of us’ - they share 98% of their genetic make-up with human beings, as well as an intense curiosity, a sense of fun, and a liking for human company in small doses.  He also learned that despite her efforts to protect the rainforest from the loggers, Birute fears for the future of the red apes as even the National Park is steadily reduced.
At Camp Leakey Terry discovered for himself the importance of a place where people and apes can share the world with no bars between them. And he achieved his aim of getting ‘close’ to orangutans when a huge male known as Kusasi emerged from the jungle, sat for a few minutes just feet away from Terry and Ian, and then quietly returned to the forest.”

I'll Never See Him Again (Mae)
Author's Note: Here's the one from Mae's perspective, once again inspired by Disney's Pocahontas. This is also available on Wattpad. I've included three human OCs for this one shot! I also snuck two familiar names from Supernatural, however, it is not the beloved characters exactly lol. This is also my first time writing a character who is nonbinary/genderfluid/androgynous; and the character uses they/them pronouns. I did my absolute best to be as respectful as I could. I also apologize in advance if there is any indication of negative stereotypes, because that was not the intention.
They took him.  Her human companions took Noa.  All because he wanted to see her again.  Mae dropped to her knees and buried her face in her hands.  She was only trying to help rebuild the human race, under the direction of her leader.  On her mission, the only ones to show any sort of empathy and compassion to her, were the evolved orangutan and chimpanzee.  So soon after the deaths of her team.
Her affiliation and alliance with them during that time, created the beginning of a conflict within herself.  The girl raised a hand to her neck, and pulled out the medallion of Caesar.  The last connection to Raka as well.
It was Noa’s gift to her to reflect on their time and her grief.
And it was the first one that wasn’t given to her by her parents or friends.
She felt tears stream down her cheeks as she clasped the medallion in her hands.  Mae did not consider herself to be spiritual or religious, she remembered her history lessons about the past 200-300 years and before.  How humans always had conflicts regarding religion and science.  However, whomever this Caesar was to the apes, she prayed silently to him.  She went down on her knees, still clasping the necklace in her hand.  The young woman prayed for Noa’s safety.
Her silent prayer was interrupted by the sounds of footsteps coming down the hall.  It was a former classmate of hers, from her history lessons as a child.  That’s right, they went by Gem now and presented as androgynous.  “Mae,” they said, crouching down to the girl’s level, “are you all right?”
“No, I’m not,” the girl replied, “they took my…my friend.”
“That monkey?”
“He’s an ape, not a monkey.”
“Sorry,” Gem muttered, “is he…the one you mentioned on your journey above?”
Mae nodded, sucking in her lips to keep from crying again, “All this happened because he helped me, and I…I almost killed him…Twice.  And now…I don’t know what our commanding officers will do to him.  Either keep him for experiments or kill him.”  “He was already outside the bunker, Mae,” Gem explained calmly, placing their hand on Mae’s shoulder, “he had a weapon on him.”
“Merely for protection,” Mae argued, “I’ve seen it for myself.”  Gem bit the inside of their cheek, thinking about the next thing to say.
“Forgive me, but were you praying just now?” they raised an eyebrow toward her.  Mae decided she couldn’t lie anymore and nodded her head in response.  “I don’t recall you being the religious type.”  Mae felt a small smile tug at the corners of her lips, but it didn’t reach her eyes, “Perhaps I did so for my friend’s sake.”
Gem’s head shot up quickly, they had an idea.  “C’mon, I know what to do.”
X.X.X.X.X.X.
An hour later, Gem and Mae walked down the hallway deep inside the bunker.  The two came upon a laboratory the scientists and doctors used for research, as well as an infirmary.  Two guards, who were also former classmates from Mae’s history lessons, stood watch over the entrance of the lab.  Gem greeted the two, giving each a nod, “Dean, Sam.”  The two returned the greeting.
“Mae wishes to speak to the prisoner,” Gem explained sternly, maintaining strong eye contact with their former classmates.  “On what grounds?” Dean asked, placing his hands on his hips.  Mae bit her lip, thinking up any lie she could to get into the lab to see Noa.  Then it hit her, “I have some questions for him.”
“The general already interrogated the prisoner,” explained Sam, reciting it like he had memorized the words from a textbook.  Gem and Mae exchanged a quick glance with each other.  “He sent me to conduct further questions,” Mae lied, sensing the subtle change in the atmosphere.  She secretly hoped the two guards bought the lie.
It was Dean who caved in, “Be quick, they might return at any moment.”  He turned around and punched in the key code for the door.
He stepped to the side to let Mae through.  The young woman glanced over her shoulder to Gem, offering them a small smile in thanks.  Gem returned it in kind.  Mae inhaled a deep breath, and stepped through the door.
X.X.X.X.X.X.
Mae walked into the lab and glanced around for any sign of Noa.  It was dimly lit and there was the low hum of the computers.  Her blue eyes widened slightly when she eventually found him.
They placed Noa in a cage.
His back was turned to her, he was hunched over and she could see he was hugging himself tightly.  Mae walked slowly over to the young ape, when she was in front of the cage, she crouched down to his level.  She reached out her hand slowly to him, debating on whether to touch his shoulder.  Regardless of his cognitive abilities being so close to humans, he was still an animal.
And just like humans, animals did not belong in cages.
She lowered her hand and called out softly to him, “Noa?”  The young ape perked up at the sound of her voice, and glanced over his shoulder.  When he saw it was her, he turned around fully to face her.  Noa locked his golden jade eyes with her own sky blue ones.  It was the same expression he had given her, when her human companions took him away.  It was also the same one he had that day, when she aimed her pistol at Proximus Caesar.  A silent plea.
“Mae,” he whispered, reaching his hand through the bars.  She took hold of it with both of hers.  The young woman noticed how huge just his one hand was between her own.  She felt tears well up again in her eyes.  The ape took notice of her tears, reaching up his free hand and softly brushing his knuckles against her cheek to wipe them away.  He cupped her face with that same hand and she leaned into it.
There was only one thing that was on her mind.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered.
“For what?”
“For getting you placed here.  For lying to you.  For…for almost killing you and your clan.”
Noa’s eyes widened slightly at this, this time she was sure he could read the sincere truth in her eyes.  “Mae…” he couldn’t find the words to respond to her.  However, there was one way.  The hand cradling her cheek gently pulled her closer, as best as he could from the bars, he placed his forehead against hers.  She breathed a shuddering exhale against his lips.  She felt the emblem of Caesar brush against his chest.
The young chimp inhaled through his nostrils, she briefly wondered if he had picked up her scent.  “I am sorry, too,” Noa whispered, “I should not…have come here.  But I am glad…I did.”  Mae pulled back slightly to look at him, biting her lower lip, debating on what to say next to him.  “Maybe…it would’ve been better if we never met,” she said , choosing her words as carefully as she could.  However, she doubted the chimpanzee in front of her believed her words.  He was too intelligent for that, briefly recalling their conversation in Trevethan’s room, and what was supposed to be their farewell outside of his village.
“I do not regret it,” Noa breathed against her lips, “I see you…as my friend.”
Mae felt more tears well in her eyes, she felt Noa’s thumb gently stroking her cheek, brushing away the ones that fell.  In the distance, she heard the door to the lab open and Gem calling out, “Mae, we have to go.”
The young woman sighed sadly, nodding her head so slowly it was hard to tell.  Noa noticed it, though.  “You must go,” he whispered, letting go of her face, “your clan is coming.”  Mae locked eyes with the male chimp once more, “Noa…”  “You will always be my friend,” he whispered, she noticed there were tears welling in his golden jade eyes.  He took a gentle hold of the medallion between them, “Important.”  She let her tears fall like the last time he said that word.
She stood up, the move forcing Noa to release the necklace, she still had a hold on to his large hand.  She briefly glanced down at their entwined hands, noticing how small hers was compared to the chimpanzee’s.  The young woman reluctantly let go of the ape’s hand, which was still in the air reaching out to her.  Mae turned away slowly, walking toward the door to the hall.
When the door shut behind her, she could hear Noa release a feral screech of pain and sadness.  She could also hear the banging of the bars, she darkly imagined he was throwing his whole body at them.  Mae rolled her fingers into fists, clenching so tight her knuckles turned white, to keep from releasing more tears again.

Note
so we know that the virus probably only increased the Great Apes (chimps, gorillas, orangutans) excluding humans. This means that other primates probably weren’t affected. So you know what I wanna see? I wanna see Noa and Mae come in contact with a fucking baboon.
Noa: “We don’t mean any harm”
Mae: “Noa it’s a baboon it can’t understand you”
Noa: “… you understand me”
Mae: 😑
on the other side of this: Noa meeting a little marmoset monkey !!! he would protect that thing with his life
No but the fact that other primates appeared who haven't evolved because the virus doesn't affect them is incredibly interesting to me. It's also a way to show that apes can no longer be considered animals because, even though they might look like it, evolutionarily they aren't anymore.

Bonobo protecting baby mongoose is one of the winners of an international photo contest
- Gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees, bonobos and humans are the so-called great apes. The first four share 99% of human DNA, meaning they are our closest biological relatives on the planet. It is no surprise then that they have behaviors so similar to ours and that they move us so much.
- This is the case of the snapshot taken by renowned photojournalist Christian Ziegler, who took this beautiful image above, of a bonobo with a baby mongoose in its arms, near Salonga National Park, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Looking into the distance, the bonobo appears to be caring for the small rodent as if it were its own offspring. The photo was one of the winners in the “Animal Portrait” category of the international nature photography competition Nature inFocus, which revealed the 2023 winners this week. According to Ziegler, the bonobo then released the baby without harming it. This type of behavior is rarely documented.

Yandere! SCP 049 Headcanons
woah im actually getting to this anyways sorry for the long wait but im here! the reader is apart of the scientific department ^^ also reader is afab but uses they/them
SFW
God does he love you.
Though you guys were both unaware at first
He thought it was just a feeling of friendliness and care
Until he couldn't keep you out of his head. Through all of his research, the thought of you lingered in his head
He then started to feel something different in him.
He felt an urge to protect you from everyone and to never let you go. He only wanted you to look at him, talk to him and for you to only be by him.
For you though, as an ScD, you saw him react differently everytime he saw you.
He would stare at you, like he was in a trance. He would treat you differently from the rest of the scientists.
The way you two began to grow closer was when you interviewed him.
You guys sat there for hours under close watch by the foundation. Talking on and on about eachothers lives and personal things.
You know it was odd to be closer than friends with an SCP, especially as foundation personnel but you felt something for him. Love.
He could tell you felt this by how he analyzed you everytime you guys would talk. He felt ecstatic, absolute joy in your reciprocation.
Sometimes when the foundation had put you in for tests, you two would talk to eachother in his cell. Enjoying eachothers company as you guys talked. He would even show off some of his progress or belongings that he somehow had.
You looked at him as he explained his studies, deep in thought and showing interest to it. "See, the pestilence does not reside in other mammals similar to humans, They've given me orangutans to test on but it's just not the same.." You nodded in agreement as he continued, "Though someday I hope to test on a human with the pestilence. Or any human."
"Would I be on your list of potential tests?" you questioned
"God no! Your beauty must be protected, I must not ruin a person like you..."
NSFW
ohgod-
He tries to be gentle at first. Keyword: tries.
He has a knife kink no fucking doubt and loves to carve hearts into you
What does his penis look like? oh honey you asked the wrong person
So I think its kinda lanky. Definitely sensative. His skin has a greyish tint to it so I think his penis definitely is grey with a bit of red at the top. The red is probably something like #DDCDC9 with the rest of his penis being #DDDDDD and his balls being a little darker at #C4C4C4. I'd say the length is 7.12 inches soft maybe, 8.01in hard (wow im generous). His penis may not be that thick but it makes up in length. Girth is probs 3.10in wide. His semen production is kinda alot. He definitely has a curve about like 4-5 degrees towards him.
He'd tie you up and call you a 'gift from the heavens'
049 writes down your reactions and actions and i will die on this hill.
He loves when you suck him off but refuses to say.
SIZE KINK SIZE KINK if your small he will love you forever
Theres no way he doesnt have a dacryphilia kink
Fucks you for hours and says its for research LMAOO
HE WILL MAKE YOU BEG I WILL DIE HERE
sorry i dont have much im so tired rn 💀
He looked at you as you layed under him, naked and flustered. "Beg for it, love." you looked at him and wimpered "P-Please fuck me 049, please cum inside of me..~" He chuckled at your words and thrusted into you,
"Finally I have you all to me.."
Yes i fucking wrote that paragraph. why? because i can. I apologize (not

I've been debating writing this theory for a while because I thought I was making a big deal out of nothing... but the recent clip between Noa and Raka at the campfire has added fuel to the fire (pun intended).
The small detail that keeps catching my eye is this piece of cloth. First it popped up in an image of Noa and his friends, with one reaching towards this fabric hanging on a tree branch.
Tumblr media
Didn't think much of it since we've started seeing apes wearing clothing and accessories.
Then it came up again in an image of Noa speaking to Koro, an elder in his village. What looks like the same piece of clothing is held by Koro.
Tumblr media
This started getting a little more interesting to me but still didn't think it was a big deal.
The full trailer showed a glimpse of Noa handing Mae a piece of clothing, almost like a peace offering between the two. It was a dark blue fabric as opposed to the tan color fabric in the other images, but significant as it seems like a moment of trust building between ape and human.
Tumblr media
But now, we get the campfire clip, where Raka goes to throw the clothing to Mae and Noa stops him. He tells the orangutan that it is important for some reason. Raka has to persuade the chimp to give it to the human because they get cold. After brief hesitation, Noa agrees and Raka tosses it over.
Tumblr media
In this moment we're being outright told that this fabric is important. It is in fact so important that he won't give it to the human he presumably is traveling with at this point. This campfire scene likely happens before the scene of Noa offering her the cloth. The later scene, of Noa willingly giving her the clothing, will show how the relationship between them has grown.
Basically, even if it may be two different bundles of fibers, why are these things brought to an ape elder and protected by Noa? I still feel a little stumped on what could be important about it. My theory at the moment is that it is a kind of clothing different from what the apes can now make and the rags most humans roughly fashion. It being more sophisticated leads Noa to realize there might be more to Mae than he originally thought of feral humans. Another possibility is that it is from Proximus' soldiers who attacked his home and Noa needs it as a clue to find them. I feel more inclined towards it being tied to humans and the mysterious nature of Mae somehow.
Or maybe I am just overthinking a few random props held by characters. Who knows?!
