In the Café
Artist: Fernand Lungren (American, 1857–1932)
Date: 1882–1884
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL, United States
Description
In 1882 Fernand Lungren traveled to Paris, where he briefly attended classes at the Académie Julian before abandoning formal training in favor of direct observation of the city and its people. Here, a fashionably dressed woman sits alone and alert. Her presence is a sign of modern Paris’s changing social environment, in which café culture offered women new opportunities for leisure in public spaces. Although Lungren employed a dense, hard-edged style, his interest in modern life and the effects of light (here both gas and electric lighting) was nevertheless indebted to French Impressionism.

Anna Escher von Muralt
Artist: Angelica Kauffmann (Swiss, 1741-1807)
Date: ca. 1800
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid, Spain
Description
A successful interpreter of the Neo-classical style, Angelica Kauffmann here offers an elegant image of the sitter, Anna Escher von Muralt (1767 -1830), who belonged to a prominent Swiss family. The subject is depicted sitting in a wooded spot, wearing a fashionable gown of classical inspiration. A circular temple in the background completes this idealized evocation of the ancient world.

My toilet seat broke (it has become evident it was broken before but the previous owners, like, superglued it to the porcelain to conceal this for a little bit lmao), but this is okay because it means I’ve expedited my planned purchase of a bright orange toilet seat.
And CRUCIALLY.
It is gonna be a soft closer.
Sick of accidentally slammin that bitch shut and scaring myself
#fruitytxt#I plan to buy so many little things and perfectly curate my environment#but I’m tryin to spread the purchases out#like I want a pink and orange hand towel. I want a wooden toys chest for my cats’ toys#but toilet seat broke means speeding up that purchase

o i forgor to talk abt miku expo!!
DUDE it was one of the most fun things I've been too aaa my calves are still sore from all the standing and dancing I did lmao. I hope it didnt annoy anyone near me that I was singing along to everything aahahaha (but also everyone was singing to Miku and World is Mine so I don't feel that bad abt it)
Sat next to a super sweet person who lent me and my friend spare lightsticks ; w ; and it was just. so awesome being around other vocaloid fans wow
The merch line was waaay too long both before and after the concert and I had like a little over an hour of driving back home to do so I didnt even bother
my friend that I brought with me had a blast as well!!! which was super reassuring becos he knew next to nothing abt vocaloid going into it.
OH ALSO THE LIVE BAND? SPECTACULAR. We were close enough that we could see them and aa they were singing along too. Seeing them get super into unknown mothergoose was the highlight of the night tbh (and yes i cried during it yeah yeah)
my camera is garbage🚮so the image and audio quality is blugh but here's a sweet little vid some of us singing to world is mine ^_^ (VOLUME WARNING)
#i have a few others but i dont need to torture ya'll w/ my singing lmao#i have a love hate relationship w/ my clip of intergalactic bound becos im INTO IT dude. but im the only one singing so im EMBARRASSED LMAO#also halfway through the concert two ppl slightly taller than me came to the seats right in front of me and all they did was stand there -_#the rest of the crowd was great but ofc i sat behind some rocks gaah#but it rlly wasn't a huge deal i only noticed between songs#like it was just that and one other thing that kinda urked me that night but thats it#it was completely outweighed by the good#o other random things: rin and len cosplayers giving out banana oranges and miku jerma pins (I got a pin)#it was funny becos they took one look at me and said ''you like jerma dont you'' and gave me one LMAO#the super cool miku furry taking picture w/ everyone#the little dance some cosplayers did in line (i think it was dance robot dance i forgor)#the two guys standing in front of me in line that were just exchanging leo/need memes lmao#all the gumi cosplayers!!!!#ok ok ill stop!! there's so much i could talk abt but ill stop here lmao#scout.txt

is it me or do her eyes look more asian this season?
if they’re going for that id really love that for sure BUT I hope that s6’s animation style and model design isn’t TOO drastic of a change from the past 5 seasons…? i want to see them grow up, not go through Animation Plastic Surgery if that makes sense 😭😭 <- this has nothing to do with her eyes or new suit design
anyway this is why i am not too fond of the movie animation… like yes it sure feels like a movie but i hate change and if s6 just looks like a completely new show then im gonna be grumbling at the screen neurodivergently
#ask#ill still be seated don’t get me wrong…#but if the cafeteria served apple juice every day and one day they started forcing us to drink orange…#not the best analogy but#yknow#also sorry for going off topic again#miraculous ladybug

Mrs. Francis Brinley and Her Son Francis
Artist: John Smibert (Scottish born American, 1688–1751)
Date: 1729
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, NY, United States
Description
Born Deborah Lyde, Mrs. Francis Brinley (1698–1761) was the daughter of Edward and Catherine Lyde and the granddaughter of Judge Nathaniel Byfield. When she married Francis Brinley in 1718, she was a woman of wealth and social prominence. An entry in Smibert's notebook dated May 1729 identifies the infant as the Brinley's son Francis (1729–1816). Mrs. Brinley holds a sprig of orange blossoms, a gesture which may have been taken from an eighteenth-century print by Sir Peter Lely. The white orange blossom symbolizes both marriage and purity, while the fruit, a sign of fertility, emphasizes Mrs. Brinley's role as a mother. Orange trees, although fashionable in Europe, were expensive rarities in the colonies. The presence of one here reinforces the sitter's wealth.
