I made up this lore in my head after 2 seconds of skimming over Duela Dent's wiki page

all because someone made a tiktok vaguely mentioning joker's daughter (50% sure she's not biologically related to him but that doesnt matter i made up my own lore)

Duela was brainwashed from a young age to believe that Joker was her father, and after Grayson killed Joker at the age of 2 she was taken to an orphanage. What Joker did to her was damaging and effects her heavily even to current day(timeline so far) and it makes her almost naturally scare other children and sometimes adults with her cryptic language and what can be best described as chaotic personality.

A little bit after Jason's take over of Gotham, he ended up meeting Duela. (whether she wandered into one of his safe houses or he just found her on the street I haven't decided yet) Jason took her in to keep watch of her and make sure she doesn't become another Joker. But due to his own problems with getting attached to those around him far too easily and Duela becoming attached to him, he grew to care for her.

Not to sound like a person who actually cares about children, but it's so alarming that there's this tendency and trend of not telling kids about their medical conditions that are in their charts.

I'm finding out as an adult that they (though it's not documented who) diagnosed me with a life-long, chronic condition without telling me when I was a teenager. I found out recently when I got curious about my medical charts, and otherwise, I would not have known what's wrong with me. I've been left with more questions than answers, and I feel like a private investigator investigating my own damn health and life.

Is this medical malpractice? Yes. However, I think it also speaks to a broader point of how children are seen to not be entitled to their own lives in any capacity, to the point where they are (intentionally or not) made ignorant about things that are or will affect them.

Why is Ford even there, you might ask? Well, he either decided he preferred to watch Bill suffer in person over being distantly and repeatedly harassed with the same evil desperation book for the rest of his life, or he got roped into some kind of contrived community service for 1.) all his many counts of interdimensional thievery, and 2.) his ignoring all the very clear warnings to NOT summon Bill in the first place (which I like to imagine is also illegal). Theraprism staff were just like, 'Wait, this guy matters to Bill? Ooh, we can USE that! It might be the only thing that can help him want to get better!' It is not considered that throwing Ford at Bill so soon after Weirdmageddon could instead make them both WORSE - in new and altogether special ways! :D

Anyway, I'm calling it the Community Service AU, and I am most likely not going to do anything else with it beyond appropriating these silly Good Place jokes.
