It's really amazing to me the extent to which the last issue of TF2 comics has caused basically the entire project to snap together into something pretty thematically coherent, and the theme in question is the same as Dead Money

woah semi future au magolor and sailor designs???

uh yeah. Magolor finally forms a bond with the lor and becomes its captain for realsies this time

he spends his time exploring and studying magic/dark matter/gem apples and if their power can be safely harnessed

he also just goes on side quests a lot. he may be reformed but he will still do a lot for a quick buck lol

he’s mastered his dimensional magic as well, which is why his cape looks like that :>

on the other hand, sailor is the new captain of the halberd and leader of the meta-knights. most of their job is taking down monsters but there is the occasional rogue wizard to stop from destroying the world or unleashing dark matter (huh, sounds familiar…)

they are usually very busy with work but make an effort to visit dreamland frequently in order to stay close to everyone. she’s always been a little distant from the rest of her family but i think she opens up a bit more after she, Bandee, and Kirby all start taking leadership positions. gives them something to bond over

by this point meta has retired from fighting completely but he’ll still give sailor advice when they need it. she appreciates having someone around who knows just how tiring a job it can be, and he’s very proud of her

oh, and one more thing

yea i let them get married. what are you gonna do about it? /silly

they don’t get to see each other much because of their jobs but they’re a thing

WINNIE'S ETHNIC HEADCANONS. (D7, D4 SPECIFIC)

preface; obviously these won't be canon to the hunger games as race & ethnicities are vague and what we do get are mainly descriptions of minorities with little culture links. that being said, take this as me having fun and screwing about a little! also i am Not american but also a UK-residing bipoc so i'm going off of research/personal information i I've accrued from. certain heritages. if anything is inaccurate/slightly misconstrued, feel free to let me know as i love getting to have a better understanding on areas where i don't initially come from.

i find that seven has a mixed population, being placed within oregon and all. i've always thought of it having a small irish heritage, as obviously while panem is no longer america and cut off from the majority of the world, i do think several people do still have it within their blood due to migration before the dark days. few speak gaeilge as i assume over time the capitol stamped out any predominant languages that weren't english/latin, but there are alcoves of seven's locations where the language is alive after so long.

a continued practice from the surviving and predominant irish descendants would be handfasting, a cultural tradition within marriage where the newlywed couple would tie their hands together as a sign of matrimony and their binding union. i also think that they do keep the practice of claddagh rings, with the single, married and engaged all wearing in different ways. (single: heart racing outwards on the right hand, heart racing inwards on the left for married, outwards and left for engaged, and inwards and right for being in a relationship.)

for johanna specifically, i hc her as irish-latina & go off the idea that she is non-white (debating on whether she is white passing or not.)

definitely not influenced by a specific mutual or anything but i absolutely agree with the idea that 1) district 4 has an asian population (considering filipinos being the third largest ethnic group within, and 2) HEAVY latino heritage as it makes up 40% as the largest group. (district 7 🤝 district 4 solidarity) most descendants were migrants from mexico and so i feel like a lot of underlying practices come from the previous latin-american ancestors. however, for what i believe to be a small amount of tourism due to the beauty of californian/four's beaches and seaside environment, a lot of these cultures are toned down and are within the cracks of their living. (#white-washed panem..) i've definitely always seen finnick as somewhat asian considering as most asian skin tones can be described as having a ‘golden’ undertone. his hair does intrigue me however!! ruminating on that currently. i assume that due to the large aapi population that several cultural celebrations/practices are combined together to create a more multi-cultural society within d4.

Donald Duck suffering from PTSD was in fact already made into an official comic years back.

It is a product of its time, so I had to censor the slurs that were considered normal then. It's dark humor given what people were going through at the time. It didn't help that the victory in Europe overshadowed the war in the pacific that was still ongoing when they were already celebrating. It's quite symbolical that Donald was stationed there because despite his number 1 status during WW2 Era as a man duck soldiers could relate to, his popularity would eventually wane in the US during the peace time, overtaken by Mickey Mouse. And, as the comics go, he's not been having a perfect time in Duckburg either as seen in The Magnificent Seven (Minus 4) Caballeros written by Don Rosa who too is a Three Caballeros fan. All of Rosa's stories were set around the 1950s, post-war era.

Our poor veteran war hero cannot catch a break. Not only did he face the horrors of a war where no man can ever come out normal but Duckburg in the post-war era wasn't that kind in the treatment of our US Veteran either. Another sad part is that Military Medicine regarding PTSD was fairly new in this era. It was first called "Shell Shock" or "Old Sargeant's Disease." Eventually, it was referred to as "Combat Stress Reaction" (CSR) during WWII but colloquially it was referred to as "battle fatigue." They didn't even think it was a real thing until the numbers started showing. Initially, people thought that those who suffered from it were those who weren't made of "hard stuff" but even the toughest of men would suffer in that war. This led to a completely different outlook. Treatment for it back then wasn't that developed either and adjusting to civilian life after living in a state of conflict for so long is difficult. Despite this, Donald was able to raise three kids on his own and live a fairly normal high-functioning life taking on various jobs from being a sailor again to even being a policeman. (Or a superhero. Yeah. That one counts too) Donald Duck serves as a great symbol of hope and grit for the good that can still be had in life in spite of the troubles we've experienced. Because if this white duck can bounce back, so can you.
