Imagine if, while in the zoo, the tributes of the 10th hunger games had spent their time bonding and at some point kinda joked about escaping together? And they all thought out exit strategies and such and even the word they’d use as signal to initiate the plans. They discuss who’s good at what, jokingly dividing tasks between them, with Wovey, Bobbin, and Mizzen getting the task of “stay behind us and don’t die” because they’re the youngest. No one really takes it seriously, they just use the fantasy to escape their horrid reality for a second because it’s nice to imagine all of them can make it out alive, even if they know that’s not the case.
Then the arena bombings happen
Otto and Ginnee probably still die, since they died from schrapnel, but Panlo and Sheaf were far enough away to still be conscious and moving around (that last part is mostly because of adrenaline). Everyone’s caught off-guard, but someone (probably Coral) sees their chance and screams the word they discussed, and all tributes jump into action. Jessup and Lucy Gray still save their respective mentors, but because the tributes are working together the peacekeepers have been taken out so there’s no one to drag them away. Instead, all 21 remaining tributes book it as fast as they can and manage to escape the area before reinforcements arrive. They are now on the run, and cannot show their faces without getting shot on sight, but they’re alive and that’s what matters. Mizzen, Sheaf, and Treech are the best thieves of the group (Mizzen’s small and fast (he was just closer to the snakes than everyone else shut up), Sheaf is described as "a limber little girl", and Treech sneakily stole Dill’s water bottles. That’s my evidence. Also they need more love) and thus go out to scrap together anything that may be helpful.
They, being the overachieving badasses they are, get their hands on futuristic medicine to cure Dill’s tuberculosis faster than the real world ever could and help Hy manage his asthma (because it’s chronic, there’s no way they can find a cure for that just lying around even in the future). I say they’re overachieving, because Sheaf did the back handspring for food, Treech only died because of Lucy’s cheating (still getting 6th(movie)/3d(book) place, and he definitely would’ve killed her and been a real contender for the win if she hadn’t cheated), and Mizzen is 13. A 13-year-old got 5th(book)/4th(movie) place. I rest my case.
They use the newfound supplies to heal their wounds and disinfect them, Jessup doesn’t get rabies because I make the rules here, and things are good. They spend a while utilizing their unique skills to stay hidden until one of two things happen:
1) the mentors, who have gotten quite attached to their assigned tributes, fight for the games to be disbanded and rally the rest of the academy, leading to a better Panem where the Capitol and the districts become a functioning, not-dystopian nation again and everything ends well.
Or
2) the tributes manage to escape the capitol and flee into the woods, letting Lucy Grey lead them to the Covey because ain’t no way they can just go back to their own districts just yet. The covey, being nomadic, is the best place for them to stay until they’ve grown up enough to be unrecognizable from their child selves to anyone who doesn’t actually know them.
Either way, things are better. I wanted to share this because I’m sad that all these wonderful (fictional) children died for the amusement of genuine monsters (and those indoctrinated to believe district people are not people)
Edit because a lot of new people are liking this post: someone wrote it :)

District 10's psychology🥩🥓🍗🍖🐄🐃🔪
So I have been thinking about district 10 and the possible psychological effects that can come from living there, this mainly because I personally feel terrified at the thought of Gore or blood even when it's for animals and this got me thinking about the effects of joining the slughterhouse industry at a young age can affect someone and after some research I realized that we see these effects in tanner and brandy arguably our most important district 10 tributes
Now before I get started I would just like to clarify that all of panem must be psychologically missed up I mean the capitol is the biggest proof of that and the districts live with the hunger games hanging over their heads and the daily oppression and cruelty they deal with but this is more focused on the effects that their industries would have on them
So from what I have researched the effects of exposing a child to death even in animals would lead to the children being desensitized to violence as they witness or participate in the slaughtering of animals on the daily leading to a pragmatic and emotionally detached view of death and it could also lead to frustrations coupled with the daily oppression and brutality that the district face ( I highly believe that district 10 and 9 are as heavily policed as district 11) and so the kids probably only coping mechanism would likely be their job Wich would lead to them taking their anger out during the slaughtering of animals being the only form of control they probably have, another affect of that would be reckless behavior and disregard for authority we obviously see that most clear with brandy who without hesitation kills arachne after being repeatedly taunted by her completely disregarding the consequences that would come from that and it's what get brandy killed, we also sees this same desensitization to violence with tanner who in the book dances Infront of lamina's dead body and in the movie is constantly laughing and while In the arena despite the stressful situation he's in , he also highlights another thing that district 10 children might suffer from Wich is reckless behavior we see that with him attempting to challenge Coral's authority and its what get him killed in the movie this could also be a reason why district 10 tributes don't perform well in the games despite being desensitized to violence and knowing how to kill and slaughter besides obviously the malnourishment is that they might behave recklessly and take dangerous risks without any concerns for their safety
Now that's not me in any way saying that district 10 citizens are bloodthirsty animals although they definitely must be portrayed like that by the capitol that's me attempting to analyze the psychology of growing up in such a environment would have district 10 like all the other districts are victims forced to grow up quickly to survive a brutal system that doesn't care for them
Thank you for coming to my rant

Nicknames
Characters included: Tanner, Treech, Sejanus, Reaper, Jessup, Coriolanus
These are my opinions please don’t hate especially for the district boys we only have a limited time with them so-
Also Coriolanus’s is the shortest bc I can’t write him for shit-
Tanner: I feel like he's kind of awkward with his nicknames. At first he's scared to call you them, sticking with basic ones, but after he gets comfortable he will have some other ones. But he still gets blushy and nervous when he calls you them
Darlin', my sweet girl, baby, gorgeous.
"Hi darlin' I hope I didn't keep you waitin' on me too long...well ain't you just the prettiest thing this side of ten."
Treech: cute nicknames that have to do with more of situations and things you remind him of.
Sunshine, darlin', sweetheart, (N/N), sweet face, angel, and anything else he comes up with. In secret, in his head, calls you goddess.
He does get jealous, but not like Coryo, occasionally adds my in-front.
"Good morning sunshine, this is your daily reminder that you... are quite literally the most beautiful person to walk this earth."
Sejanus: sweet boy calls you anything he can think of, and eventually is like this is too much let me dial it back. He thinks that saying your name is much more intimate than a nickname, but he still calls you them. Just that when he's speaking to you normally he'll more than likely say your name. Nicknames are more special that way because he doesn't use them all the time.
Dearest, beloved, baby, angel.
"You... look amazing angel... I'm so lucky to be considered yours."
Coriolanus: he's very simple with his nicknames. Classical names.
Darling, my love, dear, dearest, doll.
"Hello my dearest, are you ready? You look absolutely ravishing today if I may say so."
Reaper: He might look intimidating but he's a sweetheart, a big teddy bear. And he loves you in quiet ways rather than in big expressive ways. And one of those is nicknames. Has jokingly called you the apple of his eye before just to see you laugh.  He uses simple ones, and a small amount, but it's still sweet.
Doll face, sweetness, and my love.
“Evenin’ sweetness… well aren’t you as pretty as a daisy in the spring.”
Jessup: guys he’s actually so bbg um he only has one nickname for you and one only. He thinks that one fits you well and that is like the perfect match. He’s so sweet with it too.
Angel
Calls you that because he thinks you saved him and added hope back into his life. He’s a hopeless romantic I think. He loves you sooooo much
“You’re too sweet, angel… I’ll get tooth aches just from kissing you if you keep this up.”

Inspired by a comment @spiralling-thoughts made on one of @persephoneprice’s Sejanus posts!! Her takes are based check them out it’s really thought provoking even if you don’t fully agree
Sejanus goes into the arena to sprinkle breadcrumbs over Marcus’s corpse and wait for one of the tributes to kill him, but Gaul doesn’t send Coriolanus in after him this time. No, she believes that the tributes killing Sejanus in cold blood will be more than proof enough to hammer her theory home. Except none of them do. They know Sejanus is there, and as the sun rises so does the rest of Panem, but none of them do a thing. This boy brought them food after all, even though he wasn’t their mentor, just to try and be nice to them. He was nice to them. After Lamina wakes up and notices him, she asks him what he’s doing there, and he explains the breadcrumbs situation. It sparks a conversation about loss and grieving, and mentally Sejanus snaps out of whatever grief/rage induced haze he’d been in that made him think any of the tributes would kill him just because. These are kids, why did he think they’d be vengeful enough to kill him just for wearing the Academy uniform? Wtf is wrong with him?
They talk some more and end up on the subject of home, at which point Reaper appears early to swap the flag for food (though this time for Dill as well, because she’s still alive) because if Lamina’s talking to Sejanus that means she might be willing to talk to him without killing him instantly. Reaper leaves soon after but does drop some info about the culture in 11. Not much changes on the surface, but a fundamental shift has occurred in the arena. This was an even more unexpected shakeup than going into the games with almost half of the tributes already dead. Now what are they supposed to do? All tributes decide to keep to themselves to see how this unfolds without being part of any possible fallout. This means that the next day or two are… quiet. Very quiet. Occasionally a tribute pops out to collect sponsors, but they disappear again soon after.
The Capitol is shown a different side to the tributes they didn’t get to see before now that there’s someone in the arena who doesn’t have to die. They’re more willing to talk, which leads to some very revealing and heartbreaking conversations as other tributes join in briefly our of curiosity. It quickly becomes clear that all of them are just kids and all they wanna do is go home. Eventually, Treech sneaks over and asks Lamina if he can offer her anything in exchange for one of her older food packets, since Pup sent her new ones already and she was willing to exchange with Reaper. Sejanus asks why he’s not just asking Vipsania for anything, to which Treech responds she hasn’t sent him anything yet and he doesn’t expect her to, since she made it clear all she cares about it winning the prize and she’ll gladly see him starve to get it. Sejanus is properly outraged by this, but Treech shrugs and tells him there’s not much any of them can do, but he appreciates the sentiment. Just then, Vipsania (who does care about Treech now but never got around to showing it) sends over several food packets. Lamina and Treech end up trading something anyway, since they both had something the other liked more.
Lucy Gray and Jessup appear to talk about their mentors and hear about Sejanus’s experience with them, as well as talk about 12 and the Covey. Bobbin and Wovey discuss fancy fabrics, Circ and Teslee ask about the Capitol tech stuff they don’t get to mess around with, Tanner, Coral, and Mizzen show up to talk about their respective districts, the list goes on. There’s an underlying tension, but there’s also a sort of… truce, almost. The Capitol just needs entertainment, so they’ll stretch it out without deaths for as long as possible lest they be that death themself. As the days go on the Capitol starts to be more and more against the idea of watching these kids die. The interviews got them invested in these kids and got them rooting for specific ones, but as they open up to Sejanus without attacking anyone more and more it becomes harder to root for just one. And rooting for one means accepting the other will die, which they don’t want to do.
Eventually, the Capitol decides it’s not worth upsetting their citizens over what their taxes are being wasted on when there’s literally zero payoff and they just get everyone out of the arena and send them home.
