Already reblogged but I love sharing so I wanna add more
“What else is there” generic 2010s pop, but not because I’m racist, because it’s nostalgic and makes me feel happy (besides, there’s various languages and genres mixed into pop anyways. Black widow’s rap verses fuck okay)
I’ve also got all sorts of languages, cultures, genres, etc so even though this post is clearly about people like me (idek what ska is, always thought it was traditional dance music but everyone talks about it like it’s EDM) it still just doesn’t work as a generalization
Is this foreign enough? Can I be absolved of the “you guys” club? I can conceptualize just fine, I’m just not in the habit of seeking out music I don’t stumble upon on the radio, in games, or online
But even if I didn’t have these songs, I think the notion of being entertained or not entertained by different genres of music making you racist is silly. If they avoid those genres because of racism that’s different, but saying everyone that just likes what’s on the radio or whatever is racist just makes zero sense to me (especially since Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, etc etc etc)
Tldr generalization = you’re talking about me, but I have counter evidence to prove your generalization is false. Plus I can’t comprehend how only liking stuff like California Gurls - Katy Perry is racist. Boring sure ig, just not immoral
i hate this sites music taste so much its literally Racism The Music Taste site. you guys dont like rap you dont like jazz you dont like country you dont like blues you dont like ska you dont like reggae you cannot CONCEPTUALIZE listening to foreign artists you dont even know what turbofolk is you cant conceive of music existing out of anglosphere you think that mcr is punk and its the end-all of definition of "punk" for you i hate everyone here like WHAT music do you people even listen to what the fuck is left
#very controversial#starting shit#stirring the pot#:3c#i get the feeling I’m gonna get a reply about how it wasn’t about me even though it was#or how me disproving the generalization doesn’t prove anything#i do understand the concept of trends vs universal truths#but I am that mf that likes pop and doesn’t listen to jazz or country#music#good music#just ignore me#i mostly just wanted to talk about my playlist I love my playlist#my music taste#i love sharing my interests lol

I skimmed through it a bit but I think OP did somewhat decent research on the topic of fetishization regarding shipping/fandom. Such criticism is in many ways very valid. Very prevalent in the t/b-discourse as well. OP themselves say that it’s a new exploration on the topic so it’s of no surprise to me that it’s written as a broad generalization.
And very irrelevant to the actual story or the question that was asked.
So, no- it’s not good criticism because the irrelevant conclusion doesn’t say anything about SNS specifically. And how valid is it anyway if it stated that the bond between Naruto and Sasuke is no different from other characters? Lmao, that’s downright wrong in every way and disrespectful to the craft even if you don’t agree with them as a couple. Even Naruto/Sasuke haters are able to see otherwise and it’s often a source of hatred in the first place. Their ‘rivalry’ is explored in the story and in many ways actual ‘text’ is used to explain it further, how it came to be and what it eventually means. The person of the Ask, asked a very valid question, yet all of that is dismissed for the sake of a conversation regarding fetishization in fandom and using that to criticize and disprove SNS.
It’s the whole “Kishimoto didn’t know what he was doing”- argument all over again but coated with fancy words. That’s not to say that everything is wrong, I’m just saying fandom is irrelevant to the actual story. SNS-fans say unhinged things as well and there are many things I don’t agree with either. Assumptions about Kishimoto’s personal life and stating those ideas as being true or even remotely provable is definitely one of them. Chastising shippers from other fandoms for using filler-material and then flaunting a ‘SNS’-quote from a novel written by the same person that provided the filler-material for other ships is most definitely another. There is certainly fetishization happening in this fandom and that’s not something you can simply fight or disprove of in a way in order to remove it completely. It still got nothing to do with the story itself though or Kishimoto’s intentions regarding ‘Naruto’. OP lumps us all together and assumes a fan’s entire thought-pattern, thinks majority of us are Western (which blames any valid argument on culture which is bollocks) and don’t know anything about Japan if we think there is gay-subtext because surely Japan doesn’t unless it was meant to (which is rich tbh), our ideology that we all apparently share and decides to criticize all of us because of our toxicity and internalized misogyny. ‘Because an SNS-fan is all of that and therefore whatever we say is wrong.’ That isn’t okay for any of us to do regarding other sub-fandoms, nor is it in this case. And yet OP continues to say that they don’t personally prefer SNS followed with more subjective thoughts which is fine, but doesn’t prove anything. Honestly, in what way did you think this was better criticism? At what point did it actually answer the question or did it link their newly acquired research to the story?
“As expected from Sasuke fans lol.”
...uh, if you say so 👀 I'd personally would be a bit more specific. And I'm sorry but I don't know the other person you talked about ><
😩 you are all torturing yourselves reading these tbh

Ranking of Kings: Hell and Demons
Offered to Jesus through Mary
Matthew 22:13 “Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’”
Spoilers?
No big spoilers this time around. I’ll refer to one scene and one character out of context, but that’s all. If this whets your appetite for the show then go ahead and watch it. If not, then still give it a try. It’s a good show that keeps you hooked. Not to mention the second opening is a banger.
Our Topic
Towards the end of the show, we’re shown a depiction of hell where the souls of the damned are eaten, regurgitated, reformed, and then eaten again ad infinitum. If this reminds you of Dante’s Inferno, you’re not alone. Also, good job! Being well-read in literature guarantees you pick up on all the inside jokes and references people make. Setting aside the early Italian renaissance – what’s important here is that Hell isn’t just a fiery time out corner. The damned aren’t just thrown into Hell. They are actively punished while in Hell and they’ll be in Hell forever. This should properly terrify us. If we think the “sweet release of death” frees us from all our problems, we may be in for a rude awakening.
The unnamed demon eating someone’s soul.
But before we get too gloomy, let’s take a step back. Ranking of Kings did a good job showing us how horrific hell is. But if this article is going to serve a purpose, we should see how someone ends up in Hell. We could say ultimately this is done by rejecting salvation through Christ. That’s the general answer. For specific answers we can look at all the various ways someone separates himself from Christ. For now, I’d like to focus only on one way: pacts with devils. If we believe the rising statistics of people claiming to worship pagan gods, then we shouldn’t be surprised that more people – knowingly or unknowingly – are entering into pacts or contracts with devils.
In Ranking of Kings things are comically straightforward. Miranjo, a young woman, has made a pact with a demon who tells her upfront “when you die, I’ll devour your soul”. We might dismiss this and say “she was desperate, and it was for the sake of the plot.” That’s fine with me. I’m not trying to prove or disprove her character. Pay attention to what the demon says. It’s simplistic, sure, but the pact made between Miranjo and the demon demonstrates truths about our spiritual warfare this side of Heaven. Contracts are a two-way street. Each party does something for or to the other. But this doesn’t mean both sides are equal. In making a pact or contract with a demon, a human places himself under that creature’s power structure in the hopes that one metaphysically higher than himself can achieve what he cannot.
Christ casting out demons
Here’s the catch. Demons cannot guarantee their side of the bargain. All their actions are confined by the permissive will of God. They serve the father of lies, so why should we believe anything they promise?
Alternatively, the Paschal Mystery of Christ is what establishes a new covenant (i.e. contract) between God and mankind. In Baptism we die and rise with Christ. This takes us out from the domain and power structure of sin and death and places us in our Heavenly Father’s house. Only by our own free choices do we find ourselves outside such divine protection.
Okay, so what?
I don’t expect many readers to have experimented with occult practices. Again, good job! But regardless of our history, I want to recommend a simple practice: repeating the renunciations made at our Baptism. It’s a small way of reminding ourselves who exactly we’ve put our trust and hope in. Let us firmly say I do to the follow.
Do you renounce Satan?
And all his works?
And all his empty show?
Do you believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth?
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, His Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered death and was buried, rose again from the dead and is seated at the right hand of the Father?
Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting?
St. Justin Martyr, pray for us!

Mortus redeunte ad nos || Victor || RE: Dante, Packet-Man
In another world he's hearing about a load of nonsense "he" did and rolling his eyes with a wave of his hand. I didn't do that. You're making a big deal out of nothing. Followed by the ever familiar sigh and a puff of glittering smoke. You can't say that when I'm not here to pick the glass up next time.
He never expected the pinball AI would be... made for torture? It was what? Torture??? He can't process all of that, and all that Poly did, right now. He's filing that away for this moment. It still doesn't quite add up... To fix the gun so quickly, and unprompted? Why? How? The Curator did not mention how long it took him and Elena to search.
...
Now Aurelius wants to mock him? Aurelius?
He wishes he were more careless. He grabs hold of his tie to have something to hang on to, anything but his stupid gun of an arm, lest it be taken as a threat.
Don't make a big scene or else you're going to make this worse. Level your head. Level it. Don't let someone so petulant lead you to embarrassment, remember our social graces. Bite the tongue, spare the pen.
Just when he beginning to make sense, here Aurelius is, chomping at things yet again since nothing, nothing satiates him, does it? A whelp you are, taking a vindictive fellow at his word with no evidence, no proof-- No proof. No reason. No reasoning.
Lap the blood off your hand lest you squeal in horror at it given a moments time to pass.
Victor glares at Aurelius and imagines a thousand other words he could say. He would love to tear into him. But not now, not here. His bitter look is all he allows himself as a response. Kit and Maya's anger helps him handle his own. They speak what he won't let himself say. How kind of them.
His eyes narrow toward Dante.
"Our... experience, at the seance has no bearing on my contact with Dear Poly. The arcade is not a location we spent much time in, my curiosity was strong enough to finally enter, and immediately I was greeted with Dear Poly. After speaking for a bit, I considered testing a theory with Dear Poly, to which they agreed to. And yes, it comes to no surprise I have been stressed. What with Dear Savant's threats, a vision tied to me coming to be found, said vision causing Dear Packet-Man who I considered a friend approaching me with new distain, and... everything else generally about? Dear Aurelius' and I's squabble did not cause me to approach Dear Poly." Aurelius should get no satisfaction in feeling responsible for any action of his.
"I have been stressed with the lack of familiar voices in my head since arriving here. And for that matter-- Dear Packet-Man has no proof, no evidence to prove or disprove the idea that my friends--" His voice catches in his throat. He's managed to stay at a stressed tone, flustered, but the sound of a threat of tears, or worse, a threat of silence, only comes now. Spare his emotions to lash out at Aurelius, the fight worth having is for those who can't defend themselves. "My dearest friends, the spirits of the dead that I had lived every prior waking memory with, those I converse with for hours and hours until made to rest, those who help aid my partner and I, who bake for our neighbors, who tend to our plants, who show me music, and pictures, and draw with me, who-- Who you have never met. Who you will never meet, you want to posit that they are malware. Save your theories. They add no weight to my scale. Dear Van Wyck is correct!" He claps his hand to his chest. "None of this is relevant beyond trying to rouse anger out of me! None!" His lip quivers a moment. No tears are present. They never have been, they never will be. He clenches his jaw. He must focus.
"Open me up. Fill me up. Hollow me out, for all I can care for." He offers a forlorn smile to Elena, and carries that to the Emissaries. He hates to seem the separated, for some reason. Which could mean nothing. "I've no feeling there is someone else with me, but to check clearly is best."

OK HI i DO NOT mean this as a personal attack to OP or whatever. but. as with how insane i am about this game it was inevitable that my frustration with this post was going to reach a breaking point and to be honest this is for my own peace of mind and just because the misinformation was bothering me but anyway.
i genuinely don't see how this post disproves the view that 'soushin is a toxic ship' so i wrote a response to OP's points. (again i stress i mean no hate to you, dont take this personally, everyone obviously has their own opinions, interpretations etc. and i respect that.)
with that said !! my opinions on why this doesn't do anything to prove soushin isn't problematic/my general issues with this post (under cut cause this is long)
i'll format this post as my responses to each of the main points made in the original post. for reference anything in bold is from the original post.
“Shin saw Midori like an older brother”
Actually agreed on this one. Totally valid and true.
“Midori groomed Shin”
Shin is canonically 21-22 years old while Midori’s age isn’t stated, but since they were in highschool together it can be assumed he wasn’t all that much older than him.
Okay, so first off this is an extremely misleading way of phrasing this. “They were in highschool together” completely avoids the fact that midori didn't even go to shin’s school (said in the quote "I only found this out later, but... He wasn't even a student at my school." - of which a screenshot was included so that kind of confused me), so therefore doesn’t confirm anything about his age, apart from that he was at such an age where he could pass for a highschooler, so, doesn't actually confirm anything. Also as with many points from this post, midori being the same age as shin doesnt make their relationship any better.
Also, key word: assumed. The original poster disproves common interpretations of shin and midori's relationship by saying how the ‘antis’ base this all off of assumptions (and without getting into the fact that we have so little 100% confirmed information on their relationship/past that it is inevitable that people will have to make assumptions at some point) yet they made an assumption here to prove their own point. Very hypocritical and not holding himself to the same standards.
Midori changed to Shin’s school so that he could get his signature but he also became his friend in order to make the Shin AI. He could have easily just been a highschooler himself.
True, but also, nothing more than one possible interpretation. This doesnt actually prove anything.
Many people who say Midori groomed Shin say that he groomed him into believing he had to leave himself behind and that is why he took on Midori’s persona in the death game when it’s clearly not the case in canon.
Agreed here. Shin is probably a chronic overthinker and it is clear that his imagination runs wild especially since, you know, being put in a death game with 0% chance of survival.
“And you… should become the person you want to be, so you can meet them proudly.”
This dialogue is part of Shin’s lost memory, where they are talking about Shin’s wish to meet his lost sibling. It’s one of the only shown scenes of Shin and Midori pre-canon, and he’s clearly being supportive and wanting Shin to be happy with himself.
Actually not clearly. As said, this is the only scene we have of them pre-canon, so in actuality it gives us very little insight into their actual relationship, let alone a clear one. Just as you have made the inference that midori is “clearly being supportive” of shin, someone else could make the inference that this is not genuine, which, being backed up by other hints about their relationship in game, is just as valid an assumption to make as was yours, so, in short, that proves nothing.
People often assume that Shadsou is another consequence of Midori’s impact on Shin, as if he isn’t his own character who can make his own decisions. This fandom often waters down his character and infantilizes him like this.
This is also just another assumption? It is perfectly reasonable to think shin’s character is influenced by someone who was a very central part to his life and character arc. Taking this viewpoint doesnt automatically mean that shin isnt making his own decisions, or that this thought process did not start with shin himself. Acknowledging that a character can be influenced by someone else doesn’t infantilise them. Weird point to make. Also doesnt even have much bearing on this topic because shadsou is, as OP said, most likely another version of shin (in a roundabout way - his thoughts. ykwim it's literally his shadow).
"Midori is Shin’s abuser”
The reality is that Midori and Shin’s relationship is ambiguous
Agreed. It is ambiguous.
Saying that Midori abused Shin is an unsubstantiated claim so it’s just a headcanon, not saying you can’t have that but again, you can’t be claiming it’s fact.
OP say this here but most of their points to ‘disprove’ such claims are also unsubstantiated assumptions about their relationship. Again, the hypocrisy is showing.
This is the cg where Midori is encouraging Shin to be someone he’s proud of. Not very abusive guys.
As is the emerging theme with many of her points, this also means absolutely nothing. We know from midori’s past interactions with other characters that he was ‘encouraging’ and ‘supportive’ of them too (take for instance midori’s role as gin’s school counsellor(i dont remember if that was the exact role but that's not relevant here, ykwim), but very obviously had shallow intentions towards them. While the situation is clearly not the same with shin, as midori does seem to have a strange sort of attachment/affection towards him (more on this later), this just goes to show that it would certainly not be any sort of great leap to assume that midori’s words towards shin are ingenuine.
“But it’s implied to be abusive”
Midori’s mannerisms are scary.
OP is just stating a fact here, this doesnt prove/disprove anything.
Shin finding Midori to be scary doesn’t mean he abused him.
As unbelievable as this may be, this is not the only implication that their relationship is not healthy. Also, proving that midori didnt abuse him doesnt make this healthy. I fail to see the point. Relationships can be unhealthy without involving all out abuse. A narrow minded take here.
People claim that it has deeper meaning but really it comes down to how you want to interpret it.
Yes, this is true, but the fact that this is the last quote from that screenshot OP talks about genuinely baffles me. It skips out the entirety of “but whenever i looked into his eyes… i felt really restless… i was so scared, i started sweating, i got anxious…” and while i know this doesnt necessarily ‘prove’ anything, if you are perceiving this as a normal and healthy relationship i dont know what to tell you. Also, she fails to address possibly the most concerning aspect of this, being “he really seemed to enjoy seeing me like that…”. ?????????????????????????? to me that seems obvious that the way midori viewed/treated shin was not normal, as it literally says he seemingly enjoyed seeing shin ‘scared’ and ‘anxious’ because of him. And yes, there is the argument that it was because of midori’s research into human emotion and such, so of course he liked to see shin in an anxious state (he liked to push humans to their breaking points, of course), and that it was nothing about shin specifically that brought on this behaviour. And i would agree with that, but, regardless of the reasoning, that is still, clearly, unhealthy and not normal behaviour. The whole point of ‘oh, midori is only like this because of asu naro' etc. is completely irrelevant because that doesn’t make any change to his actual behaviour being unhealthy.
Midori’s odd mannerisms towards Shin could just be how he shows his love. awww. isnt that so sad
Sure, its sad, whatever. That doesnt automatically make his actions okay. This point is irrelevant. Just because someone has reasons for acting the way they do doesn’t make that fine. Someone can have justified and explainable reasons for acting in a bad way, and still be acting in a bad way? Im going to be honest this point really confuses me because its just stating the obvious, and doesnt mean anything in terms of this topic.
...It’s gotten to the point where people like this dear anon believe these things to be true!
While a lot of what you say here is true, the fact that midori ‘is not an abuser’, ‘is not a groomer’, etc. does, in no way shape or form, mean that the relationship between the two is a healthy one. Relationships are complicated, and this one in particular seems to be a very complex one, with many interpretations, but i think what is important to remember is that, whether you claim this ship to be healthy (which i think is overwhelmingly clear that is is not, even with your so-called ‘debunking’) or view it as unhealthy, the confirmed information we have as of right now on their relationship and past is very vague, and very ambiguous. OP claims that soushin ‘antis’ build their dislike for this ship only on assumptions about their relationship, yet he does the exact same thing here in his attempt to discredit them. I agree with him on certain points, as in, it is nowhere confirmed in game that midori abused shin, or something of that nature, but just because that is not confirmed does not mean the ship is healthy, as OP seems to imply that it is. It is not a simple fact of ‘midori is shin’s abuser, or he isn't’. Relationships are far more complex than that, especially so in a game with nankidai’s writing.)
I would like to be clear now that my aim here wasn’t to definitively prove to you, or anyone reading, that soushin is a toxic ship (although that is my opinion of it), and i instead just wanted to point out the many inaccuracies and hypocrisies in your ‘disproving’ of that view of soushin. A lot of what you said is either not true, irrelevant, or missing out on important factors. I dont mean to personally attack you in any way, as this whole post was mostly for my own peace of mind because it was bothering me that this post seems to say soushin isn't 'problematic'.
As for your last point, I fully agree, and many people do, (in some ways) inevitably, base their view on this ship off of certain people’s (non-canon) interpretations online, although that does not mean this ship is not toxic.
i am kind of insane about this game, my apologies for any passive-aggressiveness
Anyway, I hope we get to see more of the past between these two characters in shin's past episode.
OKAY wow im done now. sorry for this horrifically long post this was entirely self-indulgent.
u said ur not a proshipper and stuff but isnt soushin a proship tho.... abuser x victim>???? and shin saw midori like the older brother he didnt have../??? /gen
Originally I wasn't going to respond to this, I thought it was funny so I giggled at it with my friends and I thought that would be it. But I realized this is a wonderful opportunity to write a really long post disproving these theories that this fandom insists are canon. I’ll start by debunking some common arguments. I put a lot of effort into this and am actually using proper grammar IM SERIOUS GUYS!!! This is really long by the way
“Shin saw Midori like an older brother”
I’ll get this argument out of the way first because it’s weak, it’s a common trope in media where relationships are described as familial to show the closeness of the relationship. Even so, Shin probably said that because he looks up to Midori and respects him. If you just want to see them as having a brotherly relationship, that’s fine, but this argument doesn’t stand for calling Soushin proship.
“Midori groomed Shin”
I honestly have no idea where this theory even came from. Some people say that Midori preyed on Shin and that he was much older, while it’s more likely they are both in the same age range. Shin is canonically 21-22 years old while Midori’s age isn’t stated, but since they were in highschool together it can be assumed he wasn’t all that much older than him. Not saying you can’t headcanon that they aren’t, but you shouldn’t push your headcanons as canon to insist Soushin is proship. Midori changed to Shin’s school so that he could get his signature but he also became his friend in order to make the Shin AI. He could have easily just been a highschooler himself. Midori is an Asu-Naro agent and from what we know about them they have used underaged people for labor (eg. Kai, Sei, Hinako). If the common theory that the silhouette in Kai’s mini episode being Midori’s mom is true, it’s probable that he grew up similarly to Kai and Sei, being made to do Asu-Naro’s bidding as children. It’s not like you need the credentials of an adult to give out contracts. You could also make the argument that Midori must be older because he worked as a nurse and school counselor while trying to get participant signatures, but one could argue Asu-Naro has the connections to get him in such a position without schooling or even have higher levels of schooling to get the education in a shorter timespan. But I’m getting off topic. Many people who say Midori groomed Shin say that he groomed him into believing he had to leave himself behind and that is why he took on Midori’s persona in the death game when it’s clearly not the case in canon. It was Midori who wanted Shin to be the best version of himself.
Here ‘???’ is the shadow version of himself, he is having an inner conflict of interest. Commonly referred to as Shadsou, is the actual reason Shin took on Midori’s persona. What Shadsou is exactly is ambiguous but generally it’s the personification of Shin’s devil's advocate. People often assume that Shadsou is another consequence of Midori’s impact on Shin, as if he isn’t his own character who can make his own decisions. This fandom often waters down his character and infantilizes him like this.
“Midori is Shin’s abuser”
Again, another headcanon people insist is canon. The reality is that Midori and Shin’s relationship is ambiguous and it hasn’t been explored much in canon. Soushin can be explored in many different ways because of how vague their relationship is. Saying that Midori abused Shin is an unsubstantiated claim so it’s just a headcanon, not saying you can’t have that but again, you can’t be claiming it’s fact.
This is the one cg we have of Midori and Shin pregame btw:
This is the cg where Midori is encouraging Shin to be someone he’s proud of. Not very abusive guys.
“But it’s implied to be abusive”
This is usually the evidence they use for the implication:
“He’s… a scary friend of mine…”
Midori’s mannerisms are scary. It isn’t just Shin who thinks that he is, he’s one of the main antagonists of the game. Shin finding Midori to be scary doesn’t mean he abused him.
“Though I learned a lot of things at his house…”
It’s insane to me that people use this as evidence but, this is clearly about Midori teaching him how to code. People claim that it has deeper meaning but really it comes down to how you want to interpret it.
There are multiple points where Midori is shown to feel affection in strange ways. It’s possible he didn’t understand ordinary forms of affection, similarly to Kai who was deprived of affection growing up as an agent. Midori’s odd mannerisms towards Shin could just be how he shows his love. awww. isnt that so sad
Many people call Midori Shin’s abuser and claim Soushin is proship without proper canonical proof. A lot of people who kin Shin project onto their relationship and insist that it’s abusive because their bias rooted from their own trauma and experiences clouds their perception of Shin. This happens along with people infantilizing Shin and excusing all of his actions by blaming the supposed ‘grooming’ or ‘abuse’ he experienced from Midori. This is just a common problem with mischaracterization of Shin and Midori by the fandom. It’s gotten to the point where people like this dear anon believe these things to be true!
Then there's the people who ARE proshippers and insist that Soushin is abusive or pedophilic because they want it to be and are looking at them with that lens of thinking. These people greatly help spread the idea that Soushin is a proship, making it much harder to discern canon from fanon when much of the Soushin content is by these people, specifically outspoken adult western fans that praise proship and advocate out for Soushin being problematic, that's what the general fandom now sees it as even though it’s just not canonically happening.
At the time of posting this, Shin’s minisode has yet to come out. I’m sure that once it does it will give a much clearer view of their relationship, maybe I’ll have more to say then! For now, that is all I’ve got for you tumblr.

hello mr simp do you have any thoughts on the leeks 👀
FIRST OF ALL. THEY CAME SO FUCKING EARLY??? BRO I WAS ASLEEP
SECOND OF ALL
holy SHIT YALL
Okay, it's no secret that I'm an All Might stan. I LOVE All Might. Very very much. Not just as a simp, but genuinely, I enjoy his character SO MUCH.
--And unlike what some people may think, I'm not totally blind to his flaws. I know he sucks as a mentor and that he's done way more harm to Deku than good. He's.... not perfect. in every sense of the word. The whole point of AM's character is that he is a DEEPLY FLAWED individual— but at the end of the day, still good.
This new chapter gave me SOOO many new feelings. I'm not gonna lie to y'all and say I was a Stain apologist beforehand because I wasn't. I disliked Stain to a certain degree, but I also knew he was morally grey enough that I was able to still quite appreciate him as a character. This chapter was about EVERYTHING to me because I honestly did NOT expect Hori to go in this direction and for things to happen the way they did. It was too good to be true! Too fanfic-y! The disbelief I felt when I read what happened was on par with when Bakugou and Deku had that apology and kinda-hug in the rain!
But this disbelief is not because it was a bad thing.
I think the writing in Chapter 326 is phenomenal. The moment that All Might was really beginning to lose hope in not just himself as a hero, but himself as a PERSON... we finally hear the opinion of someone who would abso-fucking-LUTELY make or break the last of his spirit.
Stain is, as much as his views are pretty agreeable and his label is that of a vigilante, still a pretty shitty guy. He's tried to kill literal kids who got in his way, even if said kids made pretty dumb decisions. AM hearing what he has to say is absolutely mind-boggling to him because he knows all of that. He knows Stain is a shitty person and that his worldview is perhaps terribly skewed. He knows Stain has spent a hot minute frying his brains down in Tartarus and isn't good at making judgment calls. Knows that for all intents and purposes, Stain's opinions are not to be trusted.
But the thing is... Toshinori also knows that Stain, regardless of the soundness of his mind, is telling the truth.
Regardless of how fucked-in-the-head Stain is, we as readers are able to acknowledge that he isn't blinded by hero worship. Sure, he's bitter, cynical, and quite the absolutist--but Stain is still clear-headed enough to be able to see AM's flaws for what they are and accept them, ultimately proving to Toshinori that the power of All Might was never his own but rather the legacy that he inspired.
The society MHA takes place in is flawed. We all know this. Heroes, as a concept, had been corrupted into being purely about good and evil. Purely winning fights for money or fame or the abstract concept of victory (coughs Endeavor and the no.1 spot coughs), making heroism as we know it about flashiness and power instead of mercy and the desire to help others.
All Might symbolizes the ideal version of the Hero Society. He represents doing the best you can. Being a hero until you reach your limits, and then going even past that. He symbolizes pure intention and the desire to be a hero not for material gains but because of the pure want to make society a better and safer place. Stain refers to Kamino Ward and the statue as a "holy land" because he believes that through and through, AM's only had the purest of intentions and morals. To him, Toshinori was like a deity that had no fault in making society what it was in the present because that accountability fell on the generations of heroes that failed to fulfill his legacy.
The point being, Stain understood that All Might was fundamentally not about 'being there' for everyone 24/7, but rather the message his presence had sent.
All Might's monologue at the beginning of the chapter essentially boiled down to the ideas that:
A. He regrets not being there properly for Deku
B. His image was a delusion that ultimately led to the downfall of hero society.
To break this down, his problem with Deku is his inability to be a competent mentor. It shows that he has led him down dangerous and horrible paths (Deku's stubbornness to do things by himself and his 'dark' arc post-war), and is unable to bring him back into the light even if he tries. It was only when Class 1-A had intervened that they were able to get Deku to rest and let people tag along, after all, which is why Toshinori was far too embarrassed to follow him into UA's walls even after everyone had come out with umbrellas.
Stain disproves this in two ways.
First, he says that it was never about All Might's ability to actually be there for people. The whole point of what inspired Deku to be the inherently good-hearted "true hero" he is today is because of the values that AM's brand had instilled in him as a child. AM's biggest positive impacts came from behind the screen where he was used as the proof that true heroes can and do exist. Deku does want to be exactly like All Might, yes, which is why we see Toshinori leading him down the same path that he walked--but the underlying message of this is that the very first thing All Might gave him even before OfA was the courage to help fix society.
I do believe Deku is an innately compassionate person. Most people in the series are. However, what makes All Might's smile so uniquely impactful to what it did to Hero Society is the way it gave people courage to help people. Less hesitation. Less bystander syndromes. The ability to move without thinking. Because you can feel the want to help a person, but the courage to be nosey and actually do it? That's portrayed as something AM's image teaches people.
The second way he disproves AM's insecurity of dragging Deku down is that he makes it clear that this pain is somewhat of a necessity in reforming society. He says, interestingly enough, that this is but the 'middle process' in reforming society. This spills over to how he addresses Problem B, but what Stain is essentially saying here is that this sort of brutality and isolation that Izuku faces is impermanent. A phase. It implies that even if Deku is struggling and Toshinori is unable to help him, it is something that needs to happen before they re-realize the ideal heroes All Might's image is meant to create.
The second problem in regards to how All Might feels about current society (how it's collapsing because of him, etc. etc.) is more interestingly addressed. There are many things that Stain says--like how Toshinori doesn't need to actually be the one to fix society with his bare hands. The current society is not his fault because of the fact that it is not finished developing. I'm not sure if I can go so far as to say that Stain means this in the sense of the Scorched Earth method of tearing everything down to build it back up better-- but I can say that Stain still has faith in society to rebuild after this period of chaos.
This rebuilding starts with the old generation of heroes correcting what they messed up (i.e. Endeavor v Dabi) and more importantly, paving the way for a better generation of heroes that was inspired by All Might's image. Heroes that are led by people like Deku, who is defined by his proclivity to help without thinking. The violent deconstruction of society is about exposing society to the raw truth of All Might's image that not everybody can be as strong as him-- which is why we have to take care of each other.
When the lady comes in to remove the sign and start cleaning the statue, it's symbolic. It's a clear metaphor that the past few chapters are the turning point for society as a whole, and how people are starting to remember what real heroism is. From the distrust that was seeded in society ever since LoV had surfaced, we are seeing that trust being returned TEN-FOLD now that people can see not only the mask of a hero's smile, but also the person underneath.
I think it's some really neat symbolism here too about how Deku, who's metal mouth guard was literally all about representing All Might's smile, is shed.
This is hero society dropping their masks. Letting people see them for as they are. Toshinori revisiting the statue in this form makes all the more impact because he shed his mask ages ago during the Kamino Bust, so this is him coming face to face with the image he's created and seeing the differences between them, and how his image continues to live on even after he's almost completely Quirkless. The lady cleaning the All Might statue shows off the fact that things can be repaired again--that society can be clean (hehe stain pun) again.
It's interesting to me here how Stain offers the information from Tartarus.
He doesn't care anymore about his life. It's evident. He disagrees with what the LoV is doing, but believes enough in Deku to think that it's time for him to retire the mantle of 'Stain'. Unless this is another test, it's very odd for me to hear that Stain is offering a blade and his life to someone he isn't even sure is All Might.
But the impact of this action reads loud and clear.
This is Stain taking pity on All Might. This is him realizing that All Might too is a person behind the hero. That Toshinori Yagi is incapable of doing anything past the image he had already created. By offering that knife and information on Tartarus, Stain is giving control back to Toshinori. He is giving AM the chance to do something big again to help society's reconstruction. To be a part of the revolution that he so badly deserves to see. That knife is essentially an exit ticket from the sidelines, and one last chance for All Might to be able to see what his image has done for people.
I personally think that the main reason Stain is willing to die then and there by Toshinori's hand, despite not being sure that he is All Might to begin with, is because of the final impact it creates that it isn't about Toshinori Yagi's true power as a person, but the image of All Might. It is because he looks like the symbol of peace, that Stain (the literal HERO KILLER) feels comfortable laying his life in his hands and giving away valuable information.
If that isn't a great testament to the power of AM's image, I don't know WHAT is.
I guess all I have to say is I absolutely love what Stain did in this chapter. Everything felt so incredibly symbolic and emotional and as someone who absolutely ADORES All Might and what he stands for in the story, this felt like a cool balm after seeing Deku tragically reject his bento box a good few chapters ago. I have a few more opinions about symbolism, and how I think Deku's generation of heroes is going to stray from the old gen, but I think that's a discussion for another time.
Thanks for reading 'til the end!

hope it’s ok for me to rant to you lmao but i feel like 99% of syscourse bloggers on both sides fundamentally understand how studies statistics diagnostic criteria etc work. and i’m not saying those things are perfect at all but if you’re going to get into discourse about it you should probably at least understand it on a basic level ykwim. especially studies because no one interprets them in the right way in syscourse, which is understandable because a lot of them have very academic style writing and formatting and can unfortunately just be generally inaccessible, but if you don’t know what they’re saying and why then don’t act like you do is my point. i see a lot of pro endos toss around the same few studies that they say prove endogenic or tulpa related plurality, but all of the ones i’ve read are just like, the bare bones of a study that are meant to be built off of, aka essentially just surveying a group of people and saying “yeah these people say they experience this.” on the anti endo side of things, i’ve noticed a lot of them throwing around brain scan and TOSD related studies saying they inherently disprove endogenic plurality, but those studies were also conducted with strictly DID and OSDD in mind and not endogenic plurality, which would probably have to be studied completely separately. also that goes for pro endos because a lot of them try to shoehorn endogenic plurality into the DIDOSDD criteria and shit when it’s inherently going to be different lol. anyways even then a few studies into it aren’t going to prove anything, it could probably take a decade to come to any sort of conclusive scientific agreement on endos, and even then studies and their findings are very very rarely, if ever, treated as irrefutable proof. and i think a lot of people need to realize that they themselves can spread misinformation and it’s not just ableist singlets that do that, which is kind of a whole can of worms entirely but just because you have DIDOSDD or you identity as an endogenic system that doesn’t mean you inherently know how to read scientific papers and aren’t immune to bias when reading them.
no no, you're onto something. i think few people in syscourse know how to use sources or even what they're saying as well. because a lot of these people aren't super educated on DID itself, haven't read a lot of books about it, and aren't familiar with academic language.
not that i'm by any means an expert, i've been stuck trying to read the same book for several months now because i've been struggling to find the motivation, and am trying to stick to my "one book at a time" method, (though, i'll probably just have to give up and read multiple books at once anyways lmao). but like jesus christ.
the reason i'm not really "anti endo" in that i disbelieve in endogenic plurality is precisely because there aren't any actual studies proving or disproving the experience wholly for me to base an opinion off of--though, the communities i'm generally pretty unhappy with, lol. all we have are barebones ideas and surveys, and then a bunch of poorly done speculation by that one tulpa who MUST be in wonderland if she thinks half the sources she's using actually say what she thinks they're saying, lmao.
it's also a huge reason i'm burnt out on syscourse and just don't really care to argue about whether endos exist or not. i don't care. live your life, dog.
it's as markiplier once said: you do you, and i'll do me, and we won't do each other. probably.

Hey Shiftblrs do me a favor please
So there’s this post going around, you might have seen it, and the basis of it is that the OP is proposing an experiment that will either disprove shifting as they suspect or prove it and surprise them.
The experiment is to shift to a reality where a math problem is solved or proved or whatever, and to bring back the knowledge of that back here as proof. Who solved it, concepts behind it, how it works, etc.
I totally understand their disbelief but in general, and this is not even about them specifically, but I do think it’s kinda crappy to make someone prove a belief in order to respect it. Nobody has proposed we do something similar with a religion in order for religious people to “prove it.” And that’s just about being respectful about expressing disbelief, of course nobody has to believe for any reason.
Besides all that, as of now I don’t think it’s a bad idea and I do think we should try it.
It doesn’t have to be one of those problems specifically. I think we could also do cure for cancer, how the universe started, cure for common cold, etc. Just something we don’t know now.
Add it as a Hogwarts class maybe, script your DR self is interested in and good at math/science so you won’t be bored or too confused, script you know or are the person who solves it, etc.
I’ve scripted it into my DR, but I haven’t shifted for the first time yet.
Edit: I’m going with NP versus P problem! It’s suspected to be false, but hasn’t been proven
Edit to the edit: I am gay. I am bad at math. /lh I am putting the NP versus P problem on the back burner and going for something else for now bc I just cannot comprehend lmao. For now it’s basically learning Spanish, (because I’m barely getting a B in my class) and if I come back fluent or greatly improved with a real understanding of the language (not words made up in my mind or anything) then that sounds like a decent start.
Anybody who’s shifted already and has it down so they could test it out quicker, or anyone who just feels like adding it to their DR, please do so!
I would very much like to see how it turns out and it would benefit the entire community.
I plan to use this to really solidify whether this is a real reality or just an in-head experience. If we find pretty solid confirmation it’s a real reality, then we can explore that and maybe help make this reality better.
Let’s say ‘worst’ case scenario, nothing works for anyone at all, and through a bunch of trials, we all come to the conclusion we’re lucid dreaming or making it up in our head through meditation or whatever.
For those of us who believe shifting is in a real reality, we can all put on our clown noses collectively, take the L, and just keep doing what we’re doing.
We can keep the terms maybe or just shift to meditation or lucid dreaming related definitions. Keep the methods, the community feel, etc. it shouldn’t really matter. We still have the experiences, we’ll just have a different understanding of what those experiences are.
If I stop believing in shifting as being in a real reality, I’m not gonna stop trying to experience what I want to experience. Shifting to a reality or dreaming, it’s still gonna be a fun ride and it’s still going to happen.

This is why I’m so fed up with the widespread idea that ‘people in the olden days had no idea how to use science to prove or disprove anything so it’s obviously all just natural phenomena!’ absolutely frozen take.
Knowing what something is and being able to do anything about it are two different things. Knowing what something is and actually knowing what that thing looks like in reality (knowing that something is infecting your crops vs knowing all of the ins and outs of ergot and what its causes and long-term effects are) are two different things. Knowing what something is and understanding how to use it to either advantage yourself or disadvantage others or both are two different things.
People understood their environments well because they lived in them. What they might not have had was modern language we recognise. And you know what else they had? People who believed in conspiracy theories. People who, if they were also alive today and had contemporary understanding, would think some modern hoax is the most believable answer in any given situation. People who were misguided or misunderstood. People writing about stuff who didn’t know much about it and only half-remembered what they did know. Yes, some of them were supposed to be ‘experts’ in their fields, and who really weren’t. People who were actually experts in their fields but perhaps their knowledge was based on some faulty, but widely-accepted conclusion. So any science that does occur starts from that basis, and let me tell you, it can poison an entire field of research. I’ve seen it happen today just as easily as it could have happened then.
They weren’t always wrong because they were stupid and overly superstitious and everything they ever experienced ever had a naturally-occurring scientific explanation. I myself have had experiences I cannot at all explain. I also don’t happen to believe in ghosts or the paranormal in general. Doesn’t make me any more able to explain whatever I experienced, and for all I know, I couldn’t recognise it for what it was because I don’t believe in ghosts. Do I think it likely? No, but even the most adamant of modern scientists don’t really believe we’ve unlocked anything like a totality of understanding of the entire universe. And maybe ‘ghosts’ is currently a word that someone in the future will know as something else and is perfectly reasonable according to their overall understanding of their living environment. Or maybe they’ll prove me wrong, which would be kinda cool but also sad, because there are so many ghosts whose existence revolves around suffering. Or maybe it would just be cool because our understanding of it is incomplete and there’s no sadness or suffering at all.
Everyone who lived before us also lived in the most advanced society in their culture, ever. (Unless they didn’t on purpose.) We, too, will be replaced with people who know more and can do more. We are, all of us, half a breath away from becoming the future’s dissertation on the history of a topic.
We don’t know what we don’t know, because rarely does anyone bother to leave a complete explanation of how time worked. Mostly because we don’t know what’s going to be important to the people of the future, at least, not culturally.
Knowledge is just as illusory as realities are. People throughout history weren’t stupid because we might not understand why they did what they did. Most of the time, we don’t even understand what we’re doing.
Sometimes, people are just people: cruel and greedy and only looking out for number one, while at the same time being kind and loving and and good humans. This is why critical thinking is such a vital skill to develop, because deciding which lenses we view the world in will inform our own understanding. And while is is true that not all lenses are worthwhile, being able to choose for yourself which ones you want very much is.
It really is amazing that people think there had to be some kind of unusual explanation for the Salem Witch Trials (like ergot poisoning or, even worse, actual witchcraft) when the Satanic Panic happened in the last quarter of the twentieth century.

It’s come to my attention that a good majority of people on this website have a really poor understanding of the conflict between Toph and Katara in “The Chase.” As somebody who loves both characters and their friendship, this irritates me. Without further ado, let’s unpack that in what is in theory supposed to be a meta but turned out more like a rant.
“Katara was hostile towards Toph because the fact that she’s a gender non-conforming girl made Katara uncomfortable because Katara is obsessed with gender roles.”
Alright, so right off the bat this is just... completely idiotic and clearly fuelled by an agenda (and likely also a lot of projection). First of all, how is Katara of “I don’t want to heal, I want to fight!” fame “obsessed with gender roles?” There’s an entire episode in Book One dedicated to Katara refusing to conform to societal norms for women in the Northern Water Tribe! Katara routinely calls Sokka out on his misogynistic bullshit! (Mind you I adore Sokka but he could be a little twerp at times and Katara was 100% right to challenge him on it) Katara is the feminist icon of ATLA! The fact that people act like Katara is some sort of conservative tradwife who loves gender roles instead of the outspoken feminist and political activist she is makes me incredibly angry.
Second of all, Katara was extremely kind and welcoming towards Toph at first. She gently encouraged her to join in with the group as they all set up camp together as opposed to setting up her own private camp. It’s only when Toph refuses to comply with her that Katara begins to get irritated. Mind you, Toph has her reasons for this, something I’ll get to in a minute, but from Katara’s perspective (key word here is perspective) she’s just being an annoying little stubborn, selfish, lazy, anti-social, entitled brat. Of course we the audience find out later that this isn’t the case at all (or at least in theory we should find out later but apparently some people on here skipped that part), but for all her many talents Katara is not a mind reader and has no way of knowing what’s going on inside Toph’s head, nor does she know her well enough yet to fully grasp the context behind why Toph acts the way she does. Katara is somebody who greatly values community and believes in teamwork, so Toph turning down her warm welcome in favour of “carrying her own weight” likely felt like a slap in the face. Not to mention that she’s already emotionally exhausted from having to constantly mother Aang and Sokka. If I were Katara, I likely would have reacted the same way.
Oh and I agree that the “the stars look beautiful tonight, too bad you can’t see them, Toph” comment was out of line, but it doesn’t make her a horrible person. It makes her a 14 year old, and 14 year olds can be nasty, especially sleep deprived 14 year olds. Katara is otherwise a very kind and compassionate person. Other characters have said worse than that. Hell, Toph herself has said worse than that. That being said, it was a deeply hurtful comment and I do like to imagine that she apologized for it off-screen.
“Toph is a lazy, entitled, and classist spoiled rich brat who just didn’t want to do chores and expected other people to wait on her.”
This is another one that makes me roll my eyes and ask if they even watched the show. First of all, the presumption that Toph is a lazy or entitled person is just... laughable. I feel like people forget that Toph isn’t actually an earthbending prodigy in the way that Azula is a firebending prodigy (I could say more about Azula and how her belief that she was the unshakeable prodigal daughter ultimately caused her downfall and how by the end of the series Zuko is arguably a better firebender than her but this isn’t a meta about Azula and Zuko, now is it?). Nah. Toph was a sheltered kid who discovered she had the ability to earthbend, was told that she could never become great at it because she was blind, and in response said FUCK THAT and decided to work her ass off until she was not only great but the very greatest all thanks to her crazy, stupid, off-the-charts nerve, drive, grit, ambition, and desire to prove people wrong about her. Does that sound like a lazy person to you? Believe me when I say that you do not achieve that kind of skill level by sitting around on your ass and expecting to have things handed to you. And entitled? Don’t make me laugh. Toph hates having things handed to her, that’s one of her defining characteristics.
As for the implication that she’s classist and enjoys basking in her family’s wealth and being waited on...... are you stupid? Did you even watch the show? Toph absolutely despises everything about her parents’ lifestyle. Growing up like that was traumatizing and restrictive for her. We’re talking about a girl who likes to play around in the mud for fuck’s sake. Toph does not care how much money you have. She never wanted any to begin with. She even says it herself; “I guess I shouldn’t be complaining. They gave me everything I could have wanted. But they never gave me what I actually needed - their love.” Not to mention that she easily could have continued to freeload off her parents wealth but instead chose to sneak out of the house and make her own money doing what she did best; disproving people’s assumptions about her earthbending. Oh and I’ve seen someone point this out before but WWE is generally considered a “low brow” activity that “proper” people frown upon and shouldn’t associate themselves with. Toph fucking loved it. I don’t know how seriously people take the comics, as they often miss the mark when it comes to characterization (Toph’s, however, was generally pretty accurate), but there’s a part in The Rift where Sokka asks her when she’s going to start charging people to learn metalbending and she gets all serious and flat out tells him that she will never do such a thing, because money doesn’t matter to her. Sharing her one true passion with the world is what matters to her. Oh and the part where she basically tells a bunch of rich and sleazy businessmen to fuck off and “stop thinking about money and start thinking about people’s lives” is just... *chef’s kiss* Sorry my thoughts here are so incoherent but this take is so piss poor and makes me so angry that I don’t even know where to start. As for “Toph enjoys being waited on” I just- *sigh* Toph has such a visceral and defensive reaction to any implication that she is unable to take care of herself. Like I said earlier, that’s one of her defining characteristics as well as the reason for her behaviour in “The Chase.” Where are people getting these takes?
You wanna know why Toph acted the way she did in The Chase? Well, first let’s recap her life up to this point. Toph was born the blind daughter of one of the wealthiest families in the Earth Kingdom. From day one her parents treated her like glass due to her disability. She was not allowed to leave her house unsupervised, and even then she was only permitted to walk around the gardens of her home. Every day of her life she was pitied, gaslit, babied, ignored, emotionally neglected, and made to feel ashamed of herself. She was not allowed to make any decisions for herself. She was not allowed to do anything for herself. She was not allowed to talk to other children. She had no friends. Other people didn’t even know she existed on account that her parents kept her locked up in her own home and didn’t tell anybody about her because they were so ashamed to have a blind daughter. Flash forward to “The Chase.” Toph begins to set up her own camp separate from the rest of the Gaang. Considering that she flat out was not socialized as a child and hadn’t even interacted with anybody her own age prior to a few days ago, this is understandable. So then Katara comes up to her and asks her why she isn’t setting up camp with the others as if she’s somehow incapable of taking care of herself (again, this is just what happened from her perspective) like she’s her mom or something and it just angers her because she thought she joined this group to get away from all that and she doesn’t understand how friends work because she’s never had one, all she knows is that apparently this girl thinks she isn’t capable of taking care of herself, and that infuriates her because it’s the exact same bullshit she thought she was running away from.
There’s a lot more I could say about this but I’m sick of typing so yeah in conclusion both of these takes are piss poor and I’m sick of having to read them. Stan Toph, Katara, and their friendship.

Hi! I love your blog and I love how respectful you are with your answers and being very straightforward not sugarcoating and not rude even if you don’t agree with something and you might not agree with this but, so I’m not saying anything specific can prove or disprove a relationship but JK’s rant on his vlive about Tae being the most handsome man he’s ever seen should at least give jikookers pause. I know many of them tried to defend it but let’s be real here. If my husband told everyone that my best friend was the most beautiful person he’s ever seen, I’d be pissed off and I might even question his sanity and maybe even his commitment to me. It’s one thing if he thinks it to himself but to tell people? That’s just messed up. To be honest though, I think the reason why there doesn’t seem to be issues between vminkook is because I think Jimin is totally straight. Just my guess. Thank you for listening!
Ooh what a juicy ask! lol
Trying to see this from as many angles as possible, I suppose I could make the argument that if BTS is, as a group, in agreement that Taehyung is the most handsome and it's something they've all discussed (which we know it is, at least to a certain extent) then maybe it wouldn't be a big deal for Jungkook to go on live and extol the virtues of Taehyung's beauty even if he was dating another member. If I take off my devil's advocate hat though, I have to agree with you.
Personally, I think this is one of those moments that doesn't necessarily mean Taehyung and Jungkook are dating, but it would seem to mean (to me) that Jungkook probably isn't dating anyone else in the group. Kind of like the Harry Styles concert. Taekook being clingy, singing together, sharing drinks, etc. obviously doesn't mean that they're dating, but would they have been doing that all night if one of them had a partner who was right there? I'm inclined to think not, at least not without some similar behavior between the two who were paired up.
But hey, Jikookers have their moments that they feel the same way about, so who knows. To a lot of them, they can't imagine how Jungkook would go on a trip with Jimin if he was dating someone else in the group, or they can't imagine how Jimin could drunkenly bite Jungkook's neck if either of them were in a relationship with someone else. So I agree with you, personally, but this is clearly one of those things that we all see differently.
As for thinking Jimin is straight, it's kind of wild how little I see this idea thrown around! Everyone's always talking about how Taehyung gives them "straight vibes" or trying to imply that Jungkook is somehow too macho to be gay or something (???????) but it's like people are generally just down to assume Jimin is gay and why?? Not to say everyone has bad reasons for thinking so, but I do think there's more evidence out there to suggest that Jimin is interested in women than there is for either Taehyung or Jungkook lol. He could still not be straight, of course, and I do think that's very possible personally, but yeah, I feel that he's shown what seems to be genuine interest in women in a way that Tae and JK have not. Whether or not that's the reason there are no issues between them, I don't know. It could be, and wouldn't that be interesting. But queer people are friends without stepping on each other's toes all the time. It's possible there are no issues between them just because there aren't any, because there's nothing there to take issue with.
Anyway, thanks for such a fun ask and for your kind words, I appreciate it!

thanks again to @dykerory and @willowcrowned for this genius au. this is an incomplete collection of very specific set of headcanons/daydreams i had about a tangential version of your au that made me emotional in the middle of the woods. whenever you feel the time is right, i’m very eager to hear your og version on the ‘but obi-wan, tho!’, because i admittedly pushed this one’s resolution really far chronologically because i wanted batman to be involved.
continuation from here
note: my understanding of dcu is as sporadically informed as my understanding of the gffa.
newly graduated clark kent gets his first journalism job and starts settling more and more into the superman thing. the rest of the justice league has been around but his entrance onto the scene is the one that really inspires the various heroes to actually start coordinating to deal with the weirdness magnet that is dcu Earth. Clark is in his early 20s. Anakin is in his late 30s.
He’s been living on Earth, without the force, for nearly 2/3rds of his life. He has a close knit circle of friends who were kind to him even when they thought he was just a weird and crazy emo cult victim (the gradual increase of public encounters with aliens and superpowers sparks some awkward apologies, Anakin at 38 just waves his friends off, smiling and changing the subject, neither confirming nor denying his high school ramblings of spaceships and magic. it doesn’t really change anything).
He lives an hour’s drive from smallville, and runs a successful auto shop. people travel from pretty far to check out some of his more wild and specialized motorcycle abominations. makes enough money selling them to rich idiots to fund his free auto-class and auto-repair programs for impoverished communities.
It took a while but he eventually came around to the idea of helping people without physical force (ironically, this is happening around the same time Clark is coming to the realization that he can help people with physical force). Generally respected as a pillar of the community. When people start to realize how profoundly weird he is as a person in a number of inexplicable ways, someone will generally pull them aside and quietly whisper that he was in a cult at a child, no one really knows much about it except that it’s what inspired his anti-modern-slavery work, which is a little telling. Not married. Was in a long-term relationship for like 9 years. It didn’t end well but no-one knows the details.
Has several cats.
He’s- wistful but settled. He’s been through a lot of therapy. He meditates every morning and night, clearing his mind and examining his emotions in the way Obi-Wan taught him. He thinks Obi-Wan would be proud of him. He know his Mom would be.
Once he gets used to the idea, he never really stops loving the concept of learning just because. Duel bachelors degree in in african american history and american literature, masters in engineering, masters in astrophysics a phd in theoretical physics, another phd in medieval folklore. He’s worked a lot of jobs.
He was already pretty well versed in astronavigation back at the temple. Over the course of his time on earth, he gets more educated in earth astronomy and physics. With is increased knowledge, his theory for ‘how did i get here’ shifts from slight hyperdrive miscalculation, to big hyperdrive miscalculation, to some sort of hyperlane incident. he realizes that none of the stars he knows are familiar in any NASA database. He must be beyond wildspace, which helps him let go of the last bit of hurt he felt that Obi-Wan never found him.
Then he really learns physics- and- light doesn’t exactly work like that right? He thought it was just primitive Earth understanding but... he gets a phd more or less accidentally, trying and failing to disprove that the speed of life is constant constant.
Get’s another even more accidentally, explaining how alternate universes might form if we assume slightly different universal constants. He publishes his thesis anonymously around the same time metas are becoming a household term, and at least one science journalist speculates on it and how alternate universes might explain the increasing prevalence of wildly different superpowers. He doesn’t claim credit for the honorary diploma awarded to the unknown theorist- he doesn’t want to risk drawing any attention to him and by extension Clark, who’s alien differences are far more of the ‘military experiment interesting’ variety then his.
He stops tinkering with Clark’s ship. He finally gets how it works. Now that he realizes how FTL travel has to work in this universe, tinkering with the mechanical generation and harnessing of the massive quantities of energy necessary to do is startlingly familiar. But it doesn’t matter. No matter how far and fast he travels, he’s never going to be able to get back to the life he used to know.
Perhaps this is what being the chosen one actually means- he’s meant to live a life without the force, so that when he returns to it in death he’ll be able to somehow...educate? the force? maybe?
Ok, he’s not great at the metaphysical spiritual side of things, but he does accept that going back is out of his control, and he’s doing good here, even if it’s not galaxy altering.
Despite all the therapy, he never doubts that his early life was real. He has his saber and deep, deep down he can feel a spark in the kyber. He can’t do anything with it, but it’s there. There’s also pieces of the utter wreck that was his ship in the cellar, next to the sleek unblemished pod that Clark arrived in. Shortly before Clark becomes Superman, he asks for his help in melting down his old ship to make unearthly alloys.
He’s not surprised when Clark tells him he met a ‘real’ ‘magic’ user- it stands to reason that considering how relatively easy it is to convert energy from one form to another in this universe (Clark can fly), at least one kind would bend to sentient willpower in a similar way as the force does.
It’s still a little nervewracking showing his lightsaber to someone new for the first time in a decade. Zantana scrutinizes, bewildered.
“There is some sort of power locked within, but it’s unfamiliar to me,” she admits finally. “I could probably brute force it and force the energy to release itself, but it would likely destroy the container.” Anakin politely refuses.
Later, after the justice league’s formation, Clark mentions to J’onn that he has a friend who might be able to work on his ship. J’onn is extremely doubtful when he’s brought to a bizarre autoshop in the midwest that looks half-like a roadside attraction. Anakin sighs and digs his hands into the guts of the craft, muttering incomprehensibly and yelling at clark to melt down some pieces from the special scrap pile. A few days later he explains the patches he’s done to an impressed J’onn. When he asks how a human came to learn such things, he’s absently informed that,
“I used to work in a junkshop in Tatooine. All sorts of ship parts came through.”
“I’m unfamiliar with this world.”
“Tell you what, if you ever meet anyone who’s heard it of it, send them my way, and I’ll make your next repair free.”
“Oh! I’m afraid I don’t have any earth money...”
“Ugh, of course you don’t. it’s cool, capitalism sucks anyway and everyone’s entitled to free transportation, regardless of the area they happen to live. I do ask that if you can’t pay for the repairs that you spend an equivalent number of hours either attending one of my free auto classes, or volunteer at a community-led charities of your choice, here I’ll get you a pamphlet-”
So the Martian Manhunter becomes a weekly volunteer at a Midwestern Food Waste Reclamation Facility. J’onn J’onzz ends up becoming Anakin Skywalker’s friend well before he becomes comes truly comfortable around Kal-El. For a telepath, 39 year old Anakin’s Jedi orderly mind is a soothing relief.
(again, Anakin has spent far more time meditating on Earth then he ever did at the temple. Before all this, spent five years dutifully memorizing the Jedi way even as he struggled to live up it’s basic practices. For the first few years on earth, religiously practicing every meditation technique Obi-Wan ever taught him, thinking obsessively about the philosophies he never had time to really process, is just a desperate attempt to reconnect with the force, prove himself worthy of it. But even after he gives up on ever touching the force again, he keeps up the practice, he can’t release his emotions exactly, but he does find peace. The tendency to stop mid-rant to earnestly pronounce made up zen bullshit and then sit quietly for an hour before picking up on his tirade again as though there was no interruption is one of the things many things people find profoundly weird about him)
Kal-El doesn’t stop asking new aliens and dimensional travelers if they’ve ever heard of Coruscant, or Hutts, or the Jedi Order. Anakin might have given up, but Superman remembers his older brother scrubbing away his own tears to focus on helping Clark calm down enough to touch the floor again. The more the Kryptonian’s powers developed in alarming ways, the more Anakin set aside talk of missing his home galaxy. Anakin might have claimed it wasn’t like that, but Clark was determined to take every chance his increasingly weird life threw at him, no matter how vanishingly small.
In the middle of his first battle with Braniac, Clark starts insulting his incomplete database. The world collector pauses, demanding a more precise explanation. Clark complies, giving his best technical description of Coruscant’s cityscape, Tatooine’s binary star system, and so on. Braniac is so distracted that Superman recovers completely from his kryptonite poisoning and easily saves the day.
Neither the lantern corp or the denizens of the neutral zone have the answers. Superman doesn’t mention it it Anakin, but he never stops looking and listening.
“How did you even meet that guy?” Flash asks curiously after stopping to say hello on one of their after work laps of the country.
“Aliens among us support group,” Kal-El responds deadpan.
“Oh. Wait, what? He’s an alien? I thought he was from the future or something! You’re messing with me. No way that’s a thing. How many people are in the support group? This is a joke, right?”
“Sorry, most of them aren’t out and I don’t want to violate their privacy- a lot of them have high profile jobs. How do you think I met J’onn?”
“SUPES I’M FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW YOU’VE GOTTA STOP”
Anakin is just sort of vaguely known by a solid chunk of the super community as ‘that one midwestern zen space mechanic’ and no one really questions it because everyone’s life has just gotten so goddamn weird. A few of them know he used to be a space wizard of some kind. Space wizards now being a regular hazard of life on earth, no one has reason to doubt this, and it’s as good an explanation as any for Anakin’s general vibe.
well. almost no one doubts this. Batman does not simply accept Anakin’s general bullshittery without carefully investigating and drawing his own conclusions. He does not share these with anyone.
But one day Clark- this is well after Superman became Kal-El to him, and not long after Kal-El tells him to call him Clark- comes up to him and asks for his help finding about an alternate universe. Knowing and dreading where this is going, Batman stalls,
“Shouldn’t you be asking one of the league members who regularly travels between universes?”
“I have, over the years,” Clark admits, awkwardly scuffing a boot on the floor of the cave. “But no one’s familiar with the exact one I’m looking for, and I thought since you’re a detective, and also one of the smartest people I know, you might be able to help me...”
“You’re an investigator yourself, and you can survive the vacuum of space,” Bruce shoots back flatly. “I’ve told you before Gotham is my priority, and this has ‘personal project’ all over it.”
“Come on, B, please,” Superman pleads, trailing Batman around the cave like an overgrown puppy. “In a few months it will have been 30 years! He’s my brother! Just let me see the research you’ve already done!”
“Who says I’ve already done research on your brother?”
Clark shoots him a look. And Bruce concedes the point with a grunt.
“I’ll need need to talk with him first,” Bruce finally concedes. “Bring him by the cave. Take the-”
“Take the tunnel entrance, I know, I know,” Clark agrees with a grin. “This doesn’t mean he’s authorized to know your secret identity. Thanks Bruce, this means a lot. I’ll ask him tomorrow about his schedule.”
Superman flies off and Batman scrubs his face with a gloved hand. After a moment he pulls up Anakin’s file on the main monitor. Bruce honestly respects and likes the man, as much as he respects and likes anyone who’s not family. He admires his sense his style, appreciates his upgrades to the batmobile, and is impressed by both this civil rights work and his additions to the scientific community.
That doesn’t mean he’s not convinced that Anakin’s brother is a bit insane. Again, he’s not judging! He dresses like a bat to scare random henchmen and beat up actual demigods! He wishes his rogues gallery was as capable of directing their ptsd-inspired delusions and staggering intellects towards such productive pursuits!
Bruce was already in quiet awe of the Kent’s ability to raise an outrageously superpowered being without blowing up a chunk of the country; their success in derailing a supervillian origin story just puts him over the edge. He stares at the three most likely profiles he’s pulled together. Christen Jones, from a negligent family, death certificate filled out suspicously sloppily at age 3. Earl Lucas, went missing at age 9, both parents dead in a violent assault. And Jake Hayden, who at age 5 disappeared along with the rest of his family in a seismic accident later linked to Luthercorp.
Anyone of them could have suffered on the streets for years and coped by establishing an elaborate fantasy world, aided by self medication, only to eventually be picked up by the Kent’s and start healing. Certainly Anakin had the intellect to create worlds in his mind. All his rogues were smart enough to create their own little realities in their heads- it doesn’t mean they were actually reachable.
Unfortunately Anakin had a Kryptonian younger brother who was determined to actually find the space wizard knight homeworld, even as the 'Jedi’ in question had slowly moved away his reliance on the delusion as an adult. Batman really didn’t see any way bringing up his conclusions to Anakin or Clark could possibly be helpful, and so many alien allies had a ‘If you find about the Jedi please contact Kal-El of Krypton on Earth’ pamphlet that it would be excruciatingly awkward to try and discretely correct anyone.
Bruce was not looking forward to this conversation.

ECLIPSE LAKE SPOILERS!!!

WOW WHAT THE FUCK
I am so weirdly interested now that the clone theory is taking off because I considered it in the past but it was more of a crack theory than anything without much to go off off, for me anyway CLONE HIGH HUNTER WHEN
I thought I would chip in my own thoughts after seeing this observation made by @matchamangotea and it confirms my exact thoughts!
anyway!!! it does looks like the ingredients Belos needed in the book was to literally build Hunter, with specific attention to his eye color and nose; it doesn't exactly confirm whether this is Belos recording his results or keeping notes of what he needs from Hunter (or both), but we know it has some connection to Belos given that he keeps it on his person. In the context of having it with him among his other supplies for the portal door, it's possible he's also using his notes to keeps tabs between Hunter's role and the day of unity.
the most immediate connection for me would be the Palistrom wood because right next to it in parentheses is "Keratin", which is normally found in fingernails and hair. From that, we can understand that these ingredients are being used as close substitutes for real organs. some of the ingredients - the galdorstone, stonesleeper's lungs and palistrom wood - are also seen on the left page which lends credibility to this theory.
so according to the book, we have an idea of what mishmash Hunter is made of: Galderstone (heart & power/bile sack), Palistrom wood (hair and fingernails), Stonesleeper lungs, selkidomus scales (skin???) and interestingly the Bone of ORTET, where an ortet is "the original plant from which clone plants are produced".
(the galdorstone was introduced as a relic used for boosting powers, but not necessarily acting as a power source; if Belos intended to use the galdorstone to substitute a witch’s heart & bile sack, I personally think this is why he flubbed that one because he failed to consider that the galderstone does not generate power on its own. This could be why Hunter claims not to have natural magic because the organ he needs to generate it can only be used as a magic booster, when he cannot generate magic on his own without a sufficient organ to do so)
However, these only perform the main functions of the body, and it would be too much to assume Belos would go through all the trouble of finding special ingredients for every single organ unless the process is meticulous enough for it, and this does not look like a recipe for a glorified abomination. At the very least, these pages outline the ingredients and growth stages and as matchamangotea pointed out, there is a checkmark on one of the growth stages to show Hunter is finished his childhood while Belos was monitoring his growth. It doesn’t stop there though; we can assume Hunter is currently at his adolescent stage at the moment since Belos hasn’t checked it off yet, but there is another sketch that is used to outline Hunter’s eyes if that has any significance in the future...
So from here, Belos would probably have to put in a placeholder like human blood to take care of the rest biologically - so this means that having a high concentration of human blood could also owe to Hunter's physiology rather than a weak lineage or the case of having a human ancestor (sort of). but if this were the case, what's the reason behind Hunter's eyes being a different color despite being a clone, if not to direct the audience's attention to the book? could it be a side effect of the ingredients, or maybe Belos recording more information about Hunter? or is it one of the things Belos needs to keep tabs on for the Day of Unity if this has to do with Hunter's purpose?
Alternatively, there is also a mystery substance in the top left corner of Hunter’s page, which happen to have the same colours as the markings on Belos’ face; I am not sure whether this was what Belos used in place of or in addition to Human blood to fill in the gaps, but considering it also seems to be directly attributed to Belos’ “curse” it has an unknown use at the moment. (EDIT: it could be possible that Belos attempted to mix these ingredients together in the past but only managed to get the mystery goo, so maybe he’s using Hunter to cultivate it for an unknown purpose? Whatever the reason, it’s on Hunter’s page for something even if we don’t know what at the moment)
how does this stack up to Belos' habit of withholding information, careful phrasing and possibly outright lying to Hunter? Hunter mentioned to Luz that "a lot of his ancestors were [powerless witches]", but if he were cloned he would have no way of knowing this unless this is the story he was brought up on, and he would also have no way of confirming it due to having no other "relatives". knowing Belos, this is probably his shady way of saying "you were cloned from me so you technically come from a line of powerless witches" in a half-truth kind of way. Hunter also mentions Belos found him, took him and and gave him a staff, which I see this as Belos raising him on the mindset of proving his worth as compensation which is just fucking messed up ok
and on that note!!! look at Belos' ears! they are far smaller and rounded similar to Luz, albeit a little bit pointed, which is interesting because along with the eyes, Hunter's ears bear little resemblance to Belos' because they are shaped like a regular witch's ears save for the exact same nick.
and while we could credit it to Belos having the same identity as Philip Wittebane, mostly because we don't have a ton of information about Philip nor Belos' backgrounds at the moment to make a solid confirmation, it could also be possible that Belos is a direct descendent of Philip rather than Hunter? in theory, we don't actually know what a witch with human blood would look like, and what differences it would lend to in terms of appearances, so I'd like to think it's not completely out of the question yet.
Also, if Belos were Philip, I think the first place he would look to for resources on building the portal door would be his own diary, considering the amount of control he has over the public and I doubt the library would be an exception of this. it's very complicated at the moment, considering he knew how the door could be used when he took it from Luz in season 1, but at the same time he chose to build his own portal door from the pieces instead of making another copy. it could just be that the resources used for the original door are less abundant now than when it was first built, but if he were Philip's descendant I figure he would have at least some knowledge of the door, and possibly used it, but not know everything.
These are all my personal opinions though! They can easily be disproved in later episodes, or could be disregarded completely, but I thought I’d like to share my thoughts. I also noticed Hunter’s magic(?) when fighting Amity was yellow and i only noticed when I rewatched that scene and I thought it was cool.
TLDR: I think belos made a modded clone of himself (Hunter) using other ingredients that we might be provided more information on in the future, Belos is more fucked up than he looks imo, and I have some doubts about the Philip-Belos theory.
#PHEW#this took me 3 hours to type out + looking through all the episodes to get any hints that were going to be foreshadowed#I know this has probably been mentioned more than a million times already jgdjskf#I am proud of my theory with the galdorstone being the reason why he can’t conduct magic very well though!#not me infodumpinh about the clone theory#I really did consider the clone theory but I DIDNT THINK IT WOULD BE TRUE WTFFF#don’t tell me he’s planning to sacrifice Hunter though... especially with all the religious themes I pin on Belos#my post#txt#long post#the owl house#the owl house season 2#the owl house theory#theory#my notes#the owl house spoilers#toh#toh spoilers#toh season 2#toh s2#toh s2 spoilers#eclipse lake#eclipse lake spoilers#toh golden guard#golden guard#emperor Belos#belos#hunter#swearing tw#caps tw

Let’s talk about if Saihara hated Ouma
So lately I’ve actually seen a bit more comments on how Saihara doesn’t actually like Ouma and people have gone as far as saying he hates him and idk why people genuinely believe it so here I am about to refute that (I’ve been waiting ages to make this post just so you know so this came out as a horribly unstructured ramble more than anything oops)
some notes beforehand:
I have an obvious bias as I do ship saiouma. although i’ll try to be neutral on what I say here, I can’t hide my bias. I have tried to include what people that hate this ship believe to counter them though, also if you ship other things that’s totally fine?? don’t think of any of this as an attack at your ship and I’m not saying Saihara loved Ouma, I’m just tired of people saying Saihara hated him.
You’re allowed to respectfully disagree as long as you don’t berate me or say I don’t know the game when the majority of the screenshots in this are from my own gameplay, lmao.
and massive whole-game spoilers! Don’t read this if you’ve not finished DRV3!
Glad to know you made it under the cut! now I can begin with where I think people got this idea that Saihara hates him from- the infamous “You’re alone Kokichi and you always will be” line.
I admit this was very cold and still breaks my fragile saiou heart, but to base Saihara’s entire perspective of Ouma on this one line he said while he wasn’t thinking straight is just.. no.. It’s unrealistic. we’ve seen how Saihara is able to adapt his views and grow (I’ll come back to this later), he’s not stubborn in this regard like Momota or even Ouma is, so even if he did mean it 100% (which I doubt because when *anybody* is angry they will say or do things they may regret had they been calmer), it’s not like his view on Ouma from chapter 4 was his final view on him. And that’s what people fail to realise.
So, how does Saihara view Ouma then?
well, I’d say he’s been interested in Ouma as a detective from the moment he met him with his curiosity piqued at Ouma’s claims of leading a secret organisation.
and he remains curious about Ouma throughout, always questioning why Ouma says certain things, what Ouma is lying for, he just wants to figure him out- and this doesn’t just apply to free time events either
I think you get my point there, now, I think if I didn’t ship saiou and read this, I’d argue these are all pre-chapter 5 and before the breaking line so he may have been curious before but not after- that then brings me to my next point
Saihara was confident- dare I say believed- in Ouma, especially after Chapter 5.
how bold of me to say ikr, but this ties in to Saihara’s ability to adapt his views. He’s sort of like a mixture of both Kaito and Ouma honestly, because naturally as a detective he has to be suspicious and think logically as Ouma does, while at the same time Kaito taught him to believe in his friends which has also helped him to advance in trials. I think he might have extended this belief to Ouma, because he trusts that Ouma is doing what he does for a reason.
In fact, I’d argue he’s the only one of the remaining group who wouldn’t readily accept pinning Ouma down as a villain. If anything, it’s the opposite- Saihara fought to clear Ouma’s name, and never stopped trying to understand whether or not his intentions were true or false
i’ll just drop this screenshot here (that i named THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY.png in case you were wondering)
this is what I mean when I say he wouldn’t accept it as fast as the others and would second-guess it, bear in mind this is the moment Ouma “admitted” to being the mastermind. and it’s not like this doubt was sudden or anything, cause I can recall this moment (that I actually didn’t catch on to on my first playthrough)
which gives me the idea that hadn’t Ouma purposefully messed with everyone and built up his bad reputation, it would’ve been so much easier for Saihara to disprove him being the mastermind at the point he said it.
Anyway, going back to my point- excluding Kaito (cause Ouma directly told him), Saihara is the first to bring up Ouma’s innocence, and this is what I mean when I say Saihara believed in Ouma
note that I say believed in. believing Ouma and believing in Ouma are different, it’s like how loving someone and being in love with someone are two different things, so don’t argue that by saying “he didn’t trust him” because ik that and that’s not what I’m trying to say.
but he did believe that Ouma had his reasons, and he tried to discover and understand them. I mean, take this for example
he’s already on board lool look at him go, but no really look at the confidence
he’s both confident in himself and in Ouma not lying here, then goes back to being curious about his intentions
oh and let’s not forget who it was that searched Ouma’s lab to find clues to prove he is a remnant of despair. Why do you need to search for evidence for something you (and the others even more) think is irrefutably true? the answer is obvious- he was doubtful of it from the start, and needed evidence to convince himself it was true, but then as he found nothing to prove it (and even evidence against it), he had to convince the others of it too- and prove Ouma’s innocence
(the last screenshot was from Hikkie’s playthrough on Youtube)
But as you can see, he’s clearing Ouma’s name as the leader of the Remnants of Despair.
Now, I bet someone would argue that this only proves Saihara was determined to find the truth in general, because he’s mister detective, so I’ll raise you the fact that Saihara didn’t need to try figuring why Ouma does the things he does- he could leave it at just knowing the truth and if he really didn’t like Ouma like people say then there’s not much merit to it.
“So what if I know this now? I didn’t care about him, it’s pointless” he could’ve thought something like that, but no
(I also think the “you’re lying again kokichi, there’s a method to your madness” moment fits here too)
Not only this, but there’s also how Saihara learnt from him.
honestly im still kinda mindblown from this ever since I first realised it, but when you think about it, Ouma hinted to Saihara in his FTEs how to win the game.
(those 3 screenshots are from justonegamr’s kokichi’s FTE video; random fun fact this was the playthrough that i watched while first getting into drv3)
But if you think about it, Ouma tried this again in his own trial in his attempt at ending the killing game and then Saihara also used this to actually end it
Not only that (which personally i think is pretty powerful in itself), but Saihara also tries to take Ouma seriously and picks up hints he leaves and uses them later
as well as
et
(and generally just)
generally, Ouma will hint and then Saihara will pick it up. it’s been like that for the whole game- why should Saihara give any extra thought to what Ouma hints if he dislikes him?? really, he could’ve just ignored him the same way he did at the end of chapter 4- but again, he didn’t “”hate”” Ouma enough to keep ignoring him, he considered him a friend in the end anyway.
and the end is what I’ll talk about now, too.
first- can we just acknowledge this?
he doesn’t ignore Ouma at all here. even though he didn’t trust him, he was sad to have lost him.
Not to mention the way he thinks about lying at the end of Chapter 6. (like, please this is just- *chefs kiss*)
IMAGINE Ouma was alive to hear him say that omg but Saihara could (and probably would) extend what he says here to Ouma himself- y’know, the ‘embodiment of lies’
by thinking about lies in a different angle instead of at face value like this, he gets a more neutral view on them rather than just thinking “they’re bad!!”, why wouldn’t he be able to do the same for Ouma? especially now that he knows Ouma was innocent and actually hated the game as much as they all did. I mean hey, even after chapter 5′s trial he sort of already thinks about lies differently
and throughout this post, I’ve tried to avoid talking about his free time events or his salmon mode ending because people always say “well they’re not canon” and to that I say not canon to the plot, yes, but still canon to the characters. so yeah, I don’t disregard any of them.
from this point onwards these all technically happen before chapter 5, so it’s not entirely relevant to my point that saihara still liked ouma even after the end of chapter 4, but it’s still something that shows he liked him beforehand at least. I mainly just wanna ramble though haha
one thing I’ve always thought was interesting was how Saihara easily lashed out at Kaito in his own free time event
and Kaito is undeniably Saihara’s best friend who he holds in high regard. If Saihara having backbone means he doesn’t like someone then damn bye bye momota have a nice trip in space
in terms of ouma and saihara though
how about the fact that Saihara willingly sat there and played rock paper scissors (janken pon!) with Ouma 100 times?? bruh I got bored playing that with my brother after 8 rounds yesterday how would Saihara manage 100?? would you really have the patience for that when you don’t even like the person you’re playing with?
how about his third free time event too?
(from justonegamr’s kokichi fte video)
Saihara wanted to spend some time with Ouma, that’s- its literally written there I don’t know what you want from me the guy wanted a nice time with someone he supposedly doesnt like
what I love about this is how “reaching out” could be taken both literally and figuratively. Wanting to understand someone and trying to find a way to but them being too unwilling to trust anyone.. damn 😔👊 also shuuichi either wanted to handshake or hold hands, what else do you do when you reach for someone’s hand come on
oh yes and how about that he’s content with the refusal because it allowed him to figure out a small thing about Ouma? understanding that Ouma has a different way of being reached out to? mhm please think about that for a bit
that parallel in the salmon ending too...
he considered how it’ll be like with him after they get out and how he’ll learn about him, then ultimately decided when ouma reached out to him that he does want this, and even comments on the warmth of his hand... afhskfdlj
his blush when ouma mentions how his lies didn’t bore saihara was also a very cute moment
ooh and what about the love hotel???
there’s that one line “I know i’m meant to be Kokichi’s ideal in this fantasy but when he tells me he loves me I feel like he means the opposite” or something like that- i’d argue it’s because he’s cautious of Ouma for one but also am I getting something wrong here or is he talking about how he, Shuuichi, thinks Ouma doesn’t like him? because I see people argue this is proof saihara doesn’t like ouma but all he’s really doing is just doubting ouma loves him
well in any case
WHY would he want him to stay in a love hotel of all places if he disliked him?! I know I’m just a broken record at this point but I can’t think of anything logical for it. they didnt even need to include that line in the scene at all but they did like they could’ve easily said something to do with realising where he was instead but nah. even after the event’s over, he says to himself
doesn’t he sound disappointed by it? and the fact that he even questions if it was a dream- okay
ooh, something i’ve realised while writing this as well: it kind of seems like Saihara might not want to like him but does anyway; he quickly ‘smothered the thought’ of staying with Kokichi, didn’t want to admit that Ouma’s lies never bored him, and I also thought about how in one of Kaito’s free time events he says to himself “I shouldn’t be talking about another boy like that”- well, maybe it’s similar for how he thinks of ouma? it’s not like Saihara didn’t care for the others’ opinion on him (probably the opposite ngl if you mess up in class trials he says something along the lines of“Ah I screwed up! They probably think I’m a fraud”) and considering nobody else liked ouma (except for maybe gonta) I wouldn’t be surprised if he felt shame for liking him, thus repressing that feeling (especially around the others, there’s that part in trial 4 where he’s trying to convince kaito he isn’t siding with ouma cause he knows by doing that could damage his friendship with his bro)
I mean this is something I only thought of just now, but it could be plausible (i hope?)
One last thing- I find it incredibly funny how in chapter 2 when ouma is literally on top of saihara he doesn’t freak out or scream and everyone else in the room is also completely chill with it and unquestioning. no really they’re just standing there.. and how long was ouma even in that position for??
Now, I think that’s all. So to finish off, I’ll just say
People get the idea that saiouma is bad because some don’t realise Saihara can still like a person without idolising or putting them on a pedestal. Idk if this is gonna sound controversial or not, but I honestly do think he did exactly that to Kaito and Kaede- which doesn’t make what they have with him toxic or bad at all, I just think his view on Ouma is a lot more realistic and less clouded. Heck, if Saihara canonically liked Ouma as much as he does with the other two I don’t know if I’d ship saiouma as hard as I do (it is fun to imagine though).
If you actually read through this then.. wow? I’m surprised you got through this unstructured mess? I hope you can agree with me for some of my points at least but I’m not here to convince you or anything, this has just been on my mind for weeks now I needed to get it out somehow.
I said it at the start and i’ll say it again now too- i didn’t intend on attacking or comparing saiou to any other ships so I do apologise if I seem like it, i’m just terrible with my wording (lmk if something genuinely offended you, i’ll probably change it) but you’re free to ship whatever you like cause at the end of the day it’s just a bit of fun. that being said, I don’t want to actually argue on this so please don’t haha, i’ve contemplated just deleting this but I’ve put a lot of effort into this post even though i cant analyse for 💩
I hope you can enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi! Can I ask for la squadra reacts to a Ghost in their base who love singing like a siren. But other members can't see or hear.
This is my first asking, im not sure of i did it correct.
Thank you so much♥️♥️
you did wonderful!!! i LOVE this concept. i wrote more general 'la squadra if their base was haunted' stuff here so i'll be working off of that
this one's dedicated to both the ghost that would hum in this one washroom at my high school when no one else was there and melissa the beautiful scene queen ghost that haunts my house and sings fall out boy and mcr with us 🙌
la squadra with a singing ghost in their base 🎶
first and foremost all of them would probably make sure it's not a stand attack and THEN would make sure they're not hallucinating but once those explanations are out of the way, here's what would follow
risotto ✂️
he's mostly just kinda confused but he doesn't let it bother him. he's a logical dude: you can't prove ghosts but you can't exactly disprove them either so he's just kinda like.... ok i guess
the singing is nice, actually. eerie but very beautiful. as long as he can still sleep, he doesn't mind. if he can't sleep, he may like.... politely ask please no singing while he's trying to sleep? he really doesn't know how to talk to a ghost. but they seem nice.
he won't go out of his way to either interact with them or avoid them and it doesn't really bother him that no one else can see or hear them. they just kinda peacefully coexist.
if the others ask him about it, he'll tell them straight up about the singing ghost, as long as the ghost doesn't appear distressed about being known to the others. but he doesn't want this ghost thing to distract them either, so he reminds everyone to keep their heads on.
prosciutto 🚬
prosciutto is dumbfounded. for real? a ghost? this is ridiculous! and why is he the only one who can see or hear it? he's just kind of annoyed by it more than anything.
the singing is rather lovely, though. if there's too much noise going on in the house and he's getting a headache, that's probably the first time he'd try like, talking to them? to be like, please--and he feels ridiculous just talking to thin air or an apparition--no singing rn. he will begrudgingly thank them when they stop, and while he's at it he may as well let them know that they do have a beautiful voice there's just too much noise right now. the ghost seems to like the compliment.
it's very soothing otherwise. maybe after some time has passed since that first interaction and he's the only one in the house, he may ask why he's the only one who can see or hear them, cause he is a bit curious. whether the ghost has an explanation or not, he'll just kinda be like aight then
really he's a bit curious about the whole ghosts existing thing in general but he just kinda takes what he's presented with. may not give straightforward answers about the whole ghost thing if the others are making a ruckus about it, at least at first, cause he doesn't want to rile em all up.
pesci 🎣
YEAH, HES FUCKIN SCARED. he can't explain it, he can't get rid of it with his stand, and now he feels embarrassed b/c he thinks he seems either incompetent or silly. in reality at least the others know that lying isn't his style so some of them are starting to wonder if he is seeing something unexplainable
the singing gets his teeth chattering. sure, it's pretty, but it's chilling. catch him hiding under the blankets with his pillow pressed over his ears.
he may very meekly ask the ghost to leave him be if they're around him and he'll leave them alone too. way too scared to interact with them and avoids them almost at all costs.
won't initiate conversation about it. some of the others may goad him on to freak him out more. be nice to pesci you losers!!!!! >:( but even if someone asks nicely about it he won't want to talk about it much but he'll be relieved that someone believes him.
formaggio 🧀
yeah, all cockiness goes out the window when he realizes it's a ghost. like, he tries his best to cling onto the attitude, but honey he is freaked out. no ghostes for him thanks
the singing gives him shivers. he'll be like HAHA YEAH.... REAL NICE VOICE YA GOT..... BUT IM NOT GONNA FALL FOR THAT....... U AINT POSSESSIN ME but the ghost is literally just chillin. he doesn't trust like that tho
may try some methods of banishment he remembers from his nonna. even if they don't work in the sense of forcing them to disappear or leave, the ghost probably still gets the message and leaves him be.
will insist with a hand over his heart that yes there IS a fucking ghost and no way in HELL is he fuckin w/ it or joking HES NOT JOKING HE SWEARS, but will puff up his chest like yea i told that ghost to get lost!!!! my love you are fooling no one everyone heard you shrieking like a little baby.
illuso ✨
he's actually a bit freaked. thought it was ridiculous until he actually couldn't find an explanation for it and it's unnerving that he was somehow singled out. should he be flattered? yes yes he knows he's lovely and cool but please don't only show your ghost activities to him or preferably no ghost activities at all
because he's freaked out he may lose his cool and yell into the air to shut up with the singing, which really does not help him feel any better.
with time, he may just get used to it, seeing as the ghost doesn't really do much aside from being a ghost and sing. he might come to appreciate the singing for how pretty it is, too.
will use the opportunity to scare everyone and definitely won't give straightforward answers just for the fuck of it
melone 🍈
VERY fascinated. thrilled, honestly! how fucking cool is it that there's a ghost right in front of him? too bad the others can't see or hear it, but he supposes that makes him lucky.
will compliment the ghost on their beautiful voice and ask a whole bunch of questions. why is he the only one who can see or hear them? do they like to sing just because? are they bound to the base, or to him, or something else keeping them tethered to this world? do they know what's beyond? can they see or interact with their stands? souls exist, seeing as someone's stand is a manifestation of it, so are ghosts souls without bodies? or something else?
he's just very curious and friendly, maybe a bit overbearing, but he's just excited. even with all his questions, he avoids asking how they died cause even though social cues aren't his strong point (especially with the dead????), he still figures that must be pretty rude to say the least. he may happily sway to whatever tune they're singing or find himself humming it later.
will be very excited to share this with everyone as long as the ghost is okay with that. doesn't care if he sounds silly or the others don't believe him, that's not his problem. will assuage any fears from the ones who are more scared by the idea of a ghost (they're just a person!)
ghiaccio ❄️
this is dumb!!! ghosts aren't supposed to be real!!!! that doesn't make any sense!!!!! goes on a rant about how ghosts don't make sense, and maybe he'd be less ticked off if they made sense. like, sure, souls exist cause stands exist. but like, what the fuck? he's honestly not scared, just annoyed.
it's extra annoying how he's the only one who can see or hear them. he's another one who gets irritated when there's too much noise in the house, so he'll yell to cut it out with the singing, if you're gonna make him talk to the air and do ghost nonsense at least don't bug him with it!!!! but soft singing in the quiet is actually very relaxing. he'll find himself sighing and just about falling asleep to it.
he's not good with words and how the fuck does he talk to a ghost but over time he may be like hey.... nice singing. when the other assholes aren't being noisy too. he'll still grumble about it not making sense until he makes sense of it, but he gets used to it.
on that front, he may actually talk to melone about it. he thinks a lot of melone's pseudoscience stuff is nonsense but he's got something concrete right here and he wants to understand it and melone is great at working with weird ideas so they try to make sense of ghosty things
sorbet and gelato 🔪🍦
they're both just kinda like. well i'll be. sorbet isn't bothered by it, gelato is like oooo how chilling but isn't like, actually scared. he's the one who may fucking flirt with the ghost like oh my is there a reason it's only us who can hear your pretty voice?? ;) sorbet thinks that's pretty funny.
and their voice is pretty! they both really like the singing, they find it beautiful and soothing and it keeps things interesting on base. what's not to love?
sorbet continues just doin his thing, but he will nod to the ghost in greeting when he sees them and exists comfortably with them, he's very chill about it. gelato will chatter and joke and flirt and be like hey let's duet this [SCREAMS] just to fuck around and see if he can make them laugh
they will both absolutely play it up to freak out the others. eventually if their antics get to be too bothersome risotto will tell them to cut it out, and they'll be like 'no problem capo, there really is a ghost tho' and then that causes a whole new wave of fuckery through the squad because even sorlato aren't crazy enough to lie to risotto's face after he told them to knock it off which means there is a ghost but HOW MUCH IS TRUE AND HOW MUCH IS THE TWO OF THEM FUCKING AROUND??? it never ends with these guys.
#THANKS FOR UR PATIENCE I LOVE PARANORMAL STUFF AND THIS WAS RLY FUN#la squadra#risotto nero#prosciutto#pesci#formaggio#illuso#melone#ghiaccio#sorbet#gelato#vento aureo#ask

Farah Dowling is Alive Part 2
The follow up to Part 1 or as I like to call it: look mom, I told you this degree would have uses in the real world!
If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, you can find Part 1: Here
You know the drill, under the cut cause this is probably going to get long!
Episode 4: Some Wrecked Angel
Episode opens with our favourite trio. If you’ve read the first part then you’ll be familiar with my argument that it could be possible the writers are leaving Farah x Saul threads to pick up at a later date. I think this scene has some interesting ones. There’s a lot of effort in this scene to set Farah and Saul up as parallels - in a way that also makes them stand apart from Ben. We have them saying his name together, but also, when they discover Callum’s body, both Farah and Saul are in sync as they move into a kneeling position.
I don’t necessarily know if this could be considered an argument for them bringing Farah back, however, in the scene with Farah, Stella and Luna, Stella brings up an interesting point about Farah’s pedagogy. We’re told that Farah chooses care and time over “solely results” when it comes to teaching. In the next episode we learn Rosalind’s own teaching style involves putting her students “through hell”. I don’t necessarily know when the change will happen but given this, I don’t see any way Rosalind can remain Headmistress, especially when they’re taking pains to show Farah as better suited for the role.
Also important in this scene is Farah and Luna’s last exchange. We know what appearances Luna has helped Farah maintain - the barrier/illusion that stops Aster Dell from being seen. So, what’s interesting is Farah’s next line:
Farah: “Yes, we’ve both done a great deal to preserve Solaria’s reputation.”
This does not get addressed during the remaining episodes. Personally, this line and the amount of tension between Farah and Luna also strikes me as a potential thread that could be picked up later. I’m going to wager that I’m not alone in wanting to know what exactly they did to “preserve” Solaria’s rep. And my guess is, because Brian has mentioned that they’re going to expand on the winx world, we’re going to be finding out more about Solaria in S2. Theoretically, I suppose whatever event that is being referenced here could be dealt with without Farah on screen, but then we’d miss out on all the fun tension! Also, as of right now, fan response to Luna is nothing compared to Farah (at least from what I’ve seen).
Tattoo theory, several people have already spoken on this and I don’t want to speak over them. I’m still sorting out my own thoughts on whether it’s Farah’s or Eve’s but I will say that Farah is always wearing rings so it seems to me that if they wanted it covered they could easily do it with a ring (or makeup). If the tattoo is purposely put there then I’m going to assume its for a reason that the writers may want to deal with at a later date (hint, hint: bring back Farah).
Episode 5: Wither Into the Truth
I may do another post on this at some point if I can find enough to say to warrant it but Farah’s eye colour when she does magic. Up until now every time Farah’s done magic her eyes have glowed blue and yet in the scene where she questions Beatrix they glow light orange. Now I’d always assumed that the colour of the glow = element, which was why I didn’t know why Farah’s glowed blue to begin with; she’s a mind fairy so I would have expected the purple that Musa has. And actually the confirmation of her being a mind fairy comes from Fate’s IG page shown below, I don’t know if it’s ever explicitly stated in the show? Further, to my knowledge, Farah is the only fairy we’ve seen whose eyes glow different colours. So, a thread to pick up in season 2, perhaps?
Also I’m very interested in the use of the word “Once”. In this instance I would almost take it to mean ‘no longer is’ but the tense is present perfect (I think?) which can suggest the continuance of an action. But now I’m being overly nitpicky and technical. Also I don’t know how ‘principle’ made it through what I’m assuming are several stages before making it onto IG, but it gave me a laugh!
“Incredibly powerful” yet loses to Rosalind without a fight? Not buying it. Additionally, the use of “other forms of magic” is interesting and I figure could be taken to mean other elements. But I wonder if there’s more to it than just that. Farah shows knowledge of archaic Fairy Magic with the Nettle Amalgam, so maybe there’s more archaic knowledge out there that she knows ... that could prove helpful.
Now, back to the episode. When Farah and Hologram Luna are talking, the fact that there are two burned ones travelling together is cause for concern.
Farah: “There are two of them travelling together. That hasn’t happened since … In a long time.”
Once again we are left with a thread of something that has happened. In the same IG post as above, in the section for Saul, it mentions that he and Farah became confidants “after experiencing the Black Woods Massacre”. I wonder if that could be what Farah’s referring to here? I know the massacre has come up once or twice in conversation and correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe it’s ever been properly explained? To me, it looks like a great bit of backstory to get into at a later date. It may not confirm Farah being alive necessarily, but you could take it as a sign that we might see Eve again.
Lastly, for this episode, is the scene between Farah and Bloom. Specifically this part:
Farah: “I will help you get the answers you need. I give you my word.”
You can probably guess what I’m going to say at this point, a thread that can be picked up in season 2! You could counterargue that Rosalind could help Bloom with answers (as she offers in the next episode) but in my humble opinion, I don’t think it would offer narrative satisfaction. First, because we’ve been shown what a terrible mentor Rosalind is. Second, they’ve spent the first season showing how Farah and Bloom’s mentor-student relationship has developed (bloomed?) so it seems a waste to go through all of that development for nothing.
Episode 6: A Fanatic Heart
Rosalind has her little prison break. Personally, I still think there’s a lot of unanswered questions about what happened after Aster Dell, how they imprisoned Rosalind, etc. And I do hope that we get some answers in Season 2 - again these answers may not necessarily involve Farah on the screen but as every writer gets told the age old advice of “show, don’t tell”, I think there’s potential for that.
Farah immediately tries to disprove my points about her intelligence by wandering alone in the woods at night. But she’s pretty, so I’ll allow it.
Rosalind gives Bloom some answers but not all, so I do think that my point above about Farah helping Bloom find more answers still stands. Further, I find the Farah is Bloom’s mother theory to be unlikely for several reasons (this is not the post for them) but I do want to draw our attention to several lines of dialogue here.
Bloom: “You hid me from Miss Dowling.” ….
Rosalind: “The guidance you needed was love. Farah couldn’t give that to you. Vanessa and Michael could.”
There are SO many reasons why this exchange is fascinating. I’m interested in why Bloom brings up Farah to begin with - her other points could stand alone to the same affect. I’m also really interested in the direct comparison between Farah and Bloom’s adoptive parents -- if Bloom hadn’t gone to them, she would have gone to Farah? It almost seems as though the direct comparison implies that. Also, considering Bloom’s relationship with her adoptive parents, I really doubt the validity of the statement. Plus, I wouldn’t trust Rosalind’s idea of love in general.
Also, Rosalind is just so certain that Farah couldn’t love Bloom … can’t love in general? There’s just so much of Farah and Rosalind’s relationship that hasn’t been explored that I think really needs to be.
Now, the scene that always makes me cry! Farah and Bloom have had a difficult time this season and it’s all lead up to this moment of trust and vulnerability - on both sides. If you ask me, this season has been setting Farah up to be the mentor figure that Rosalind was not - Rosalind’s opposite. And they’ve worked hard at it, even when they were trying to convince us Farah might be the evil one which like lmao. I find it hard to believe that they would go through all of that work just to discard it by leaving Farah dead. Especially because what Farah admits to Bloom in this sequence feels like a changing moment for her - she recognizes things she wishes she would have done differently (being less of a figurehead, being more open) and I think its only fair that Fate allows her to follow through on those things.
And onto the scene that I really don’t want to rewatch but I’m going to do it for y’all. I’ve touched on Farah x Saul moments so it’s only fair that I touch on Farah x Rosalind ones. There is tension here (looking at each other’s lips, Rosalind getting closer to Farah, Farah grabbing her), I mean the cast has joked about shipping them. But there are several different ways to read this and you are more than welcome to your pick! It doesn’t really change my point, which is … thread to pick up in season 2? Have you started taking a shot every time I’ve said that (please don’t <3).
Farah who has shown herself to be incredibly intelligent and cautious when it comes to Rosalind turns her back on her. And we get what is probably the most important piece of evidence: the eye glow. It can mean absolutely anything, but I’d wager one of the reasons its there is to have people do exactly what I’m doing here. Theorizing about whether Farah could still be alive. I’m going to take that as a sign there’s hope (mainly because I think it would be cruel to suggest a ‘could she come back narrative’ and then … not have her come back). Also, in the Fate novel, it describes Farah’s death as “too easy”. I absolutely refuse to believe that it could be easy to kill Farah when she’s proved time and time again how powerful she is.
That finishes my episode by episode analysis. It totals well over 2500 words. If you can believe me, I still have more to say on this topic (discussing general counterarguments and possible logistics of Eve’s filming), so stay tuned for a Part 3?
