It's Hazbin Hotel headcanon time! Alastor edition.
We know Alastor is mixed and creole, we also know he's from New Orleans and died in the 1930's. There have been some people that have given some criticism that he does not have black features or have a creole accent (although to be fair, Angel Dust doesn't exactly look Italian, does he?). His voice and features make sense to me though, especially when you consider his canonical devotion to his mother.
In the time and place of his upbringing it was not uncommon for POC women with light skinned children to try and pass them off as other ethnicities in an effort to give them a better life. Especially in cases of mixed parentage, considering such unions were still illegal.
Then consider his voice: a well-known made-up accent called Transatlantic, invented to make celebrities and the American nouveau-riche sound classy and vaguely almost British.
Next, his never ending smile. He tells Charlie that a smile is a tool, something to be used to keep others from knowing what youre truly thinking. His entire personality, theme, and demeanor is based on the song "You're Never Fully Dressed (Without a Smile)".
Put it all together. Picture a young mixed boy whose looks favor his father's genetics, raised by a black creole woman who is devoted to keeping him safe and giving him a better life than what she has had. He doesn't look much like her, he might actually have a shot. She teaches him not to learn her accent, learn from the man on the radio, because that's how a rich white man talks. Teaches him to be overly polite, because that way no one will doubt you. Teaches him to always smile, to never let people know you're scared or nervous, because confidence tells people you belong.
Every element of Alastor is a carefully curated mask, and I don't think he learned how to make it on his own.

EVERY SINGLE DAY there are MILLIONS of characters in their late 20s who get falsely accused of being father figures to teenagers when in reality the description of "weird older cousin" or "step-sibling that moved out before you were born" is 1000000x more apt

Something something violence has always been the primary love language for Waynes, something something.
It breaks me that Bruce loves Jason so deeply, and Jason is so completely unaware of it. He comes to the conclusion that love is religion. You have to see to believe.
I’m just thinking about Jason watching evidence of how wrecked Bruce is after his death. He stalks Batman, always, tracks down every movement and breath. He waits for the perfect moment to shoot.
Your father only dies once, after all.
That moment, mysteriously, doesn’t come.
Jason’s never been scared of Bruce. Fear, to him, is darkness and cold and a bleach white face laughing at him. Fear of Bruce not being there at all. That’s fear.
I need a scene where Jason, — Red Hood, — watches Batman pin down a mugger.
He doesn’t know what that man says. Something about getting on him for not being there when Wayne’s boy got killed.
He’s never been scared of Bruce.
But when he punches that man, over and over and over, when his throat makes those horrible sounds of gasping effort, animal and feral, he’s afraid. Afraid Bruce won’t stop.
He’s about to jump in when another, smaller pair of feet runs up to the scene and Jesus Christ that’s a kid — A kid wearing Jason’s old uniform. Wrapping his arms around Batman’s and clinging.
The man on the ground is motionless. If he didn’t blink, Jason wouldn’t know there was a face anymore.
But that’s not the worst part.
The worst part is Bruce crying. Gasping, punched out noises, his hands drenched with red, squeezing the kid so close to him.
“My baby. Oh my baby.”

I just love love love that there’s a guy wandering about Dungeon Meshi going, ‘but what are the socioeconomic and geopolitical consequences of this fantasy quest adventure, both while it’s ongoing and after its inevitable completion?! The skillset required to find and kill a Mad Mage is different than that required to responsibly, benevolently and effectively rule a kingdom. I personally must either find a good candidate, somehow make one, or, most likely, take on the whole Mageslayer/King role myself.” Except he doesn’t have the first skillset, and his whole party keeps dying while these highly competent chucklefucks wander past, kill and eat the monster, and save their bodies for the nth time. Kabru would demand to know if Aragorn is familiar with Gondorin tax law. His isekai energy is off the charts, because this is all exactly what I would do if dropped into a fantasy quest adventure, right down to repeatedly dying due to not actually being suited to the genre conventions.

Wyll being a terrible monster hunter is something that is so special actually. told to hunt heartless devil? immediately convinced of her goodness and humanity and without hesitation agrees to defy the devil who has his soul in custody and spare karlach at tremendous personal physical cost. vampire in camp? well hes handsome and funny and pretty polite about where he puts his teeth so it’s fine all things considered. finding out the person who ritualistically disemboweled a tiefling in front of him is a bhaalspawn like an unholy progeny of the god of murder that is culturally immediately reviled? no that’s his friend and he completely trusts in their ability to fight their nature with their own inner light. it doesn’t matter that they created the absolute they’re not that person anymore. Like Wyll. you are literally categorically not hunting the monsters. guy of all time

Twins in time au.... Would Fiddleford act as a sort of father figure to Stan? Since Filbrick obviously SUCKED to both Stan and Ford and Fidd is more than definitely missing HIS son, and of course Ford has grown to love him but they're still BROTHERS.. Maybe they could act as the father/son the other is missing?

I like to think that it was really hard for Telemachus to consider Odysseus as his father despite all of the years he's been titling him as one. It's easier to trust that someone gone will come back, than to actually believe and envelope the fact that they're here.
