white queers are always so damned certain that "true" queerness is for them & them alone. expressions of queerness from Black people (most notably, Black women & those percieved as women) that don't center whiteness & aren't tailored for white audiences are always, always pegged as being unbelievable. all this plus a heaping dose of thay classic "all bi women are dirty attention seeking liars" brand of biphobia. fuck off man

There these seemingly contradictory societal double binds that are used to enforce conformity.
Example: A Lesbian is told that "everyone is actually bi" while a bisexual woman is told to "pick a side". Seems contradictory but really they just want us to be straight lmao.
Another one: A woman who does not perform womanhood to society's standard is not a real woman vs. You can never change the gender you were born with. One is butchphobic/anti gnc women, the other is transphobic. Clearly both enforce transmisogyny.
The insidious thing is that these double binds also foster inter community division. Its easy to hear one side of these, for example: "everyone is a little bi" and assume that means bisexuality is more accepted. But on the other side bisexual people are getting the same shit.
None of these are contradictory when you realize that bigots simply don't want lgbtq+ to exist at all.

i've been on this website for almost 10 years. all queer discourse looks like this:
hello fellow queers, don't you just hate those [queer subgroup] trying to harm us [different queer subgroup, "real queers" implied] by [discussing their experiences], which is [bigotry toward queer subgroup 2]. these [fascist dogwhistle] want to [fascist scapegoat rhetoric], because [identity phrenology]. clearly, we must destroy these [fascist dogwhistle, implied queer subgroup 1] because they are a threat to [queer subgroup 2] and queer people as a whole!

hey do you guys remember when green day released the explicitly anti-war anthem 'american idiot' back in 2004 as a direct response to all the post-9/11 jingoistic AMERICA HOORAH songs flooding the radio at the time and how it contained the lyrics:
Well, maybe I'm the faggot, America I'm not a part of a redneck agenda
and the point was to use a slur that got right to the core of the conservative propaganda that framed being anti-war as effeminate, weak, un-american? and to take that slur and be like fuck yeah i am and this faggot is going to stand up for what they believe in fuck you
and gay rights activists were mad about it? like how dare this straight man use a gay slur green day is homophobic actually and we should make that the dominant narrative in the discourse and never ever talk about the war stuff
and meanwhile all three members of green day weren't even straight? the lead singer was openly bisexual. billie joe armstrong is very much a faggot. fuck you.

I wish there was approximately 100% less biphobia in gay romance novels.

biphobia is everywhere no matter where you look. people who are not bi love to create very rigid definitions of what bi "does" or "should" mean but nobody ever listens to how bi people define it. every bi person defines their bisexuality differently from the next person. most bisexual people will gladly tell you what being bi means for them, but nobody wants to listen to that. there are as many expressions of bisexuality as there are bi people on this earth. everyone experiences it a bit differently and that's okay- but you have to actually listen to us in order to get an idea of what that means and looks like. you can't just speak over and for us and expect to get a remotely accurate idea of what bisexuality actually means and looks like to bisexuals.

I'm listening to an episode of the Cults to Conciousness podcast about gay erasure in Amish & Mennonite communities and one interesting thing one of the guests (a bi woman) brought up is that sometimes conversion therapy doesn't look like overt violence and attempts of sexuality conversion (although it does happen), because especially queer people in the social role of girl/woman in such communities will often simply not have their queerness acknowledged at all. The conversion therapy for this guest was when her father walked behind her and corrected her so she'd walk like a "proper lady", it was corrective rape and it was forced marriage, something she just barely escaped. Sometimes the conversion therapy is covert, like your community pushing you into marriage and having children so you'll be too busy to think about your sexuality, gender, freedom and self-actualization. It's not what we think of when we hear the term conversion therapy, but it's still violent, oppressive and has the same end goal.
One of the things that deeply hurt her was when a sociologist, an outsider, wrote about her community and declared that there were "no gay people" because there were not allowed to be any. It made her feel so unseen and even more like she shouldn't exist.
I can definitely see the parallels between that and how trans people have been treated historically and how trans stories are still often erased.
To believe that there are/were no LGBTQIA+ people in certain communities and time periods is to believe that conversion therapy, in any of its forms, works (which it does not).

Unsurprisingly, one kiss in an alleyway behind some bins doesn't fix your problems. Previous part is here, I skipped Castafiore's introduction because I animated it here!
This is part of my story, The House of Glass. Poor Chang is going through it in this one.

not to be That Person but y’all have got to learn to be more normal about bisexual and pansexual characters. this isn’t 2012. women romancing astarion is not the problem, nor is karlach “lesbian coded”. the real problem is y’all’s bi/panphobia stemming largely from homophobic stereotypes

so, assuming we all know about how biphobes like to say bi women who date other women try to make them more like men since what they really want is a boyfriend, as well as how transphobes like to infantilize trans men in order to argue against their existence, i'm reluctantly here to tell you that TERFs have taken a new step with integrating these sentiments on twitter today:

that's right, you read correctly! the ones who are now pressuring our young girls (usually GNC lesbians) into mutilating their bodies are none other than... bi women! because that totally makes sense!
anyway, bi women & trans men need to stick together more than ever. 🤝 the rest of the queer community hates us both endlessly and we have a lot of overlap in that our issues aren't taken seriously enough. as a transmasc bisexual myself, this is the only true way.
