I'm queueing this because I don't want to call out anyone specific but it's something that happens with some frequency and I'd like to address it.

If I've written an extensive post about disliking something, unless you are someone with whom I have a rapport (eg: mutual, person I've chatted with a decent number of times, person I know through other means), you are almost certainly not going to convince me. If I write up a whole post? I've probably been thinking about it for a while and I'm pretty decided. Some rando - and in this case, you are the rando - isn't going to change my mind (unless it's based on a false premise). You don't know me or what I like or my standards of what is good.

I'm particularly protective of being permitted to straight up not like things in a fandom space. It's something I've been aggressive on for this exact reason: if I (or other people) make a post disliking someone, some motherfucker -and in this case, you are the motherfucker - will be like "give it a chance! Be positive!" I assure you, I have given it the chance I wished to give it. My patience is not endless and I am allowed to dislike things. If you don't enjoy my opinion, that is your right, but either say "wow, I disagree with her, because we are different people, isn't the world full of many different thoughts" or leave if you're incapable of doing that.

Much of the time, the argument rests on unrealized potential. I assure you, if the story/character/whatever gets better or appeals to me more in the future, I'll change my mind with or without your input. If it doesn't I won't. Right now, I don't like it, and I'm not obligated to nor do I wish to extend the story credit for something it hasn't done. Your input does not matter and I did not ask for it and I don't care about it nor for it.

I have realized that my prior strategy of being extremely mean to people in the hopes of scaring them off hasn't been working, because some people are obtuse enough to just not realize that I'm calling them stupid at length, and also when the issue is that someone is inclined to demand a level of benefit of the doubt beyond that which I deem reasonable, they will do this towards me as well. So I'm saying it plainly: if I talk about not liking something, I've made up my mind and I am not open to your pollyanna impressions. You are welcome to disagree, but you're not going to help anyone by bothering me.
