Summary: Your boss calls you into his office for an unexpected reason
Warnings: 18+, smut, cunnilingus, public sex, work place sex, established relationship, secret relationship, tiny touch of dirty talk if you squint, Aaron definitely leaves the blinds of his office window open
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x bau!f!reader
Word count: 549
A/N: This is my first Criminal Minds fic and I'm so excited to share it. Special shoutout to @cr1minalskies for helping me come up with the title 💗
When he called you into his office ten minutes ago you had no idea you would end up pressed up against the door, skirt bunched around your hips, and your bosses face between your legs.
“Aaron, ooooh fuck.” The wet sounds of him eating your soaked pussy filled the room, his tongue navigating your folds expertly, drawing a loud moan from your lips. You raked your nails over his scalp, your eyes fluttering shut as he groaned against your clit and slipped two fingers inside you.
He leaned back, looking up at you while he caught his breath and you couldn’t help but admire the way your juices glistened on his chin. “Fuck you taste good, sweet girl. I have been so distracted today thinking about it. You’re being such a good girl, staying quiet for me, letting me be selfish and take what I want from you in the middle of the day, right here where anyone could see us.” Pumping his fingers in and out of you at a ruthless pace he grinned as you whimpered softly, gently attempting to push his head back against your body. “Is my sweet girl ready to cum for me?” With your whimpered response and eager nod of your head he dove back between your legs and resumed his work, running his tongue through your folds and sucking at your clit until your legs began to shake around him.
“Oh…Aaron…I’m…” Your walls clenched around his fingers and you threw your hand over your mouth to muffle the telltale scream of his name you knew was about to accompany your orgasm.
He chuckled as his favorite sound in the world left your lips and your juices dripped down his hand. Continuing to slowly pump his hand he fucked you until you collapsed against the door of his office, a dazed, blissful look on your face. Slipping his fingers out of you he stood, bringing them up to your lips, a proud smile on his face as you obediently opened your mouth.
“That’s my good girl. Such a perfect little slut for me.” He praised you as you sucked him clean before leaning down to press a few soft kisses to your lips.
“Your chin is still wet, handsome.” You giggled as he looked around for something to wipe his face with, settling for his tie.
“I may have just ruined this tie but at least I’ll get to smell you on it all day. I love you so much sweet girl.” He gently fixed your panties and skirt, his hands lingering on your waist. “You’re so beautiful, have I told you that today? Oh, well no harm in telling you again. I wish you could stay in here with me all day, but you should probably get back to your desk before our luck runs out and someone interrupts us.” He bent to kiss you deeply, pulling you away from the safety of the door, waiting for you to take a breath, square your shoulders and morph back into the picture of professionalism. With a final kiss to your forehead and a small slap of your ass that promised more fun to come later, he opened the door.
"Get back to work, Agent."
You turned and gave him a wink. "Yes, Sir."

Chapter 2
Summary: Continued bump ins leave you feeling a little awkward! But you finally learn his name.
Word count: 1.2k
Tumblr media
It was three days later when you saw him again. After a long week at work, you stopped by the local corner shop desperate for a sugar fix. You both loved and hated your job. The amazing people there kept you tethered to the company, but you hated the pressure of your role. As part of the projects team, you inevitably were a decision maker. Over time, the pressures of making choices day after day then coming home to mother your boyfriend were getting to you. And no matter how healthy you tried to be, after a week of shit from work and him, you needed some comfort food.
You waited in line, not paying attention to the dark haired stranger two people ahead in front of the cashier. When he turned to leave, you awkwardly made eye contact and realised who it was. For a split second you wondered if you should smile, but his sullen demeanour made you avert your gaze. Though not before noticing his eyes flit down at the pile of junk food in your hands. You clutched the items tighter to your chest as he walked past, trying to ignore your embarrassment.
Ten minutes later, you dumped the bag of goodies onto your dining table.
“Babe, I'm home!” you called out into the apartment. Your boyfriend emerged from the bedroom as you emptied the contents of the bag onto the table.
“What have you got here, little miss?” he asked playfully as he wrapped an arm around your waist from behind.
“Your favourites,” you replied, an impish smirk spreading across your face. Without fail, buying him food would always earn you brownie points.
“Was work okay?” he asked, planting a kiss on your temple before he walked around to inspect the items.
You shrugged. “Yeah, it was fine,” you replied, the white lie barely tasting bitter on your lips anymore. “You?”
“Stressful as ever,” he murmured. “Ooooh you got me the gummy bears!”
You smiled gently, “Yep, I got you the gummy bears." You mentally settled in for another evening of meaningless talk. The two of you ended up watching TV late into the night. Justin, the takeaway addict, ordered pizza and chicken wings. Despite tasting delicious, you knew it was a mistake when you struggled to fall asleep that night.
The next morning you woke early, still feeling gross from the previous night's fast food. Your boyfriend was sound asleep, but after waking up too much from going to the bathroom, there was no way you’d be able to get back to sleep now. So you decided to start your day and go for a jog, determined to burn off the extra calories.
The air was fresh and crisp as you stood outside the apartment building doing some last minute stretches before your run. You were bent down touching your toes when, between your legs, you saw an upside down figure walking out the door. You quickly stood upright, hyper aware of the pose you were just in, and tried to nonchalantly stretch a different limb. You snuck a glance of the male- him again.
You internally groaned, wondering how you managed to keep bumping into him. You continued to stretch for far longer than necessary, until he had walked down the road and out of sight.
Over the next two weeks, it almost became a habit. You began to worry the guy would think you were stalking him. You saw him in the corner shop again one Wednesday night; he walked in, his hair dishevelled from the rain, whilst you left with an impulsively bought tub of ice cream. You offered him a little smile which he didn’t return. Two days later he was in the complex’s lobby, a waft of his cologne hitting your nostrils a moment after he walked past. This time, he made eye contact at least, but neither of you smiled. At the weekend, you ended up crossing his path twice on your jog in the local park. You went home without reaching your desired goal, not wanting to risk seeing him a third time. When you saw him in the mailroom a few days later, the awkward silence was almost too much to bear.
You made eye contact with him, and smiled. You weren’t sure what to expect, but he held your gaze, and gave a small smile back.
“Hi,” you said tentatively.
“Hi,” he replied, before another uncomfortable silence.
“Are you… settling into the building okay?” you asked, gesturing absentmindedly around the room.
“It’s okay,” he shrugged.
“Well if there’s anything I can help with let me know.”
“Why would I need help?” he said, turning to face you more fully as he narrowed his eyes slightly.
“Well your accent. You’re not from, um…” you cleared your throat uncomfortably. “The offer’s there, anyway.”
The man nodded, and you thought the conversation had ended, but he didn’t make any moves to leave. He just stared at you. His blue eyes were starting to make you feel uncomfortable before he finally looked down at the pile of letters in your hand.
"Gonna assume your name's not Justin?"
It took you a moment to realize how the hell he knew your boyfriend's name, AND that he was asking for your name. "Oh! No! No, it's Jess."
"Mine's Bucky."
"Short for Buckbeak?" you quipped, finding yourself mildly amusing. He gave you a puzzled look. "Harry Potter?"
"Never seen it. Short for Buchanan."
"Oh. That's not a first name?”
"No. It's not.”
You looked at him, naturally expecting him to elaborate on what his first name was, but it didn't come. "Well… nice to officially meet you. Now I can stop thinking of you as ‘guy who lives down the hall’." Who I keep bumping into and promise I’m not doing it deliberately, you add internally.
He smiled tightly but remained hovering in the room. You weren’t sure what he was waiting for, but took it as your cue to leave.
“Well I will see you around, Bucky.”
"You too," he replied.
You ended up spending the next half an hour worrying if he thought your comment alluded to the fact you kept bumping into him. And if he therefore thought you were stalking him. You were practically planning out ways to avoid the man by the time your boyfriend got home later that night.
“I officially met our neighbour,” you mentioned over dinner.
“Which one?”
“The new guy down the hall. His name’s Bucky.”
“Like Buckbeak?” Justin asked. You smirked.
“That’s what I asked, but no. Just a nickname.”
“What’s he like?”
“American. Kinda stoic. Really blue eyes…”
“Really blue eyes, hmm?” he asked. You noticed the jealous glint in his eyes, and rolled your own.
“Relax, babe,” you gently chided. Though secretly, you kind of enjoyed it.
You only felt slightly bad about those eyes and the smell of his cologne being on your mind for the rest of the evening.

I'm Glad It Started Raining
Happy Holidays to @hananono !! I was your Secret Spirit gifter this year! I hope you've had a great year and an even better one next year! You asked for for tft SeriRei, happy/silly Serizawa and fun outfits! I tried to combine them. I hope you all enjoy this little ficlet. :) Thanks for hosting @mp100secretspirit ! ~~~~~~~~
The rain came on unexpectedly and they ducked into a shop, cursing their luck, not really paying attention to what it was. He looked around curiously. Odd clothes and accessories littered the place, along with rolls and rolls of cloth stacked atop each other and photos of families and couples. Before he could ask Reigen what he thought the place might be, an employee appeared and gave them her best customer service smile. “Welcome to Photopalooza! We’re having a Rainy Day sale, 20% off all our photo packages! Would you be interested in looking them over?” She hands them each a pamphlet.
“Er…” He says as he blinks down at the shiny laminated sheet in his hand. He’s five seconds away from apologizing and saying they’re there by mistake when he sees Reigen bouncing on his toes. “Ooooh, Katsuya, check this one out!” And then there’s a pamphlet that is way too close to his face. He pushes Reigen’s hand back a bit so he can see the one he’s pointing at. “Fantasy Playplace Package: Be the Hero or Villain of Your Own Story!” He reads it off dutifully. He blinks. “What?” When he meets Reigen’s eyes he has that gleam that tells him he’s excited by whatever this place is and the man waves a hand around dramatically. “Forget the movie! We can see that anytime. This is fate, Katsuya! We don’t have any photos of just the two of us! Let's fix that here and now!” That is true…Most of their photos together included the kids or clients or his Mother. He takes another look around the shop with new eyes. He smiles, warming up to the idea. “Yeah, sure, why not!”
Ten minutes later a very pleased employee, happy for her sales commission, shows them to a room. There are a few heavy looking trunks and she explains that they’re filled with various costumes and props. She then cheerfully explains how to change the backdrop and the various buttons to press to change the camera settings and timer. “Just call for me if you need assistance, sirs. And remember, if you break anything it gets added to your bill.” With that said, she’s gone.
“I’ve never done anything like this before.” He says, thrumming with excitement as he pulls out a costume from one of the trunks and looks it over. “Neither have I!” Reigen says, holding up a pink, flouncy princess dress to himself with a grin. “I definitely want to see you in one of these.” He snorts a laugh. “I haven’t worn a dress since I was seven, ‘Taka, that’s all yours. Besides, I don’t think they’ll carry one of those in my size.” “These things don’t count as dresses.” Reigen scoffs. “It’s a costume! Theater!” He strikes a dramatic pose. “Is the size thing the only thing holding you back?” He chuckles at Reigen’s antics. “Well, when you put it like that, I suppose so…” “Great!” The blond replies and is sticking his head out the door and calling for help before he can change his mind.  Soon enough, the employee has brought them an equally pink and somehow even frillier dress than the one Reigen had held up earlier. “Wow, you really do have one in my size…” He says in surprise. She laughs and hands it over. “Of course! The only demographic that rivals little kids in wanting to wear one of these for photos are grown men having a good time!” His smile broadens as Reigen says, “See? What’d I tell you!” He places one hand on his chest and throws the other up in the air. “Theater knows no gender boundaries!” They quickly pull the dresses on and help each other zip up. They take one good look at each other in the cheap, plasticky dresses before collapsing on each other in laughter. “Oh my gosh, we look like off brand Barbies.” Reigen wheezes against him and they spiral into laughter again. They complete their looks with conical hats that strap beneath their chins and take a few pictures like that, acting regal in one, undignified in another, before he tosses his off and puts on a dragon suit and chases Reigen around the room, the other man shrieking in as high a pitch he can manage. Things quickly devolve from there.  “Oh my god, ‘Taka.” He pulls out a lightsaber from one of the trunks. “We gotta do this one.” They bicker for a while over who is going to play the sith and who will play the jedi. Katsuya refuses to play rock, paper, scissors as he still hasn’t figured out how Reigen always wins that game. But Katsuya wins in the end with his superior puppy eyed look and gets to play the jedi like he wanted. They don their robes and set the camera to take multiple pictures as they recreate their favorite scenes, yelling and whacking each other with the cheap lightsabers. It turns out Reigen is scarily good at laughing like Emperor Palpatine and he feels justified in making him play the sith. After that they take a stab at being mimes, completely failing at being silent. “What are you doing?!”
He laughs at Reigen’s exasperated face. “I’ve lasso’d you and I’m pulling you in, obviously!” Reigen rolls his eyes but grins and pretends to be pulled into him. Katsuya rewards him with a kiss that would have continued longer had the timer signifying the end of their booking not gone off. They stand at the front of the store in their normal clothes once again, the sun shining in through the window as if it had never rained at all. They laugh as they browse through the photos they took and choose their favorites, adding silly special effects before printing them out to keep. They choose one of the classic photobooth strip layouts, and print out three copies. One for each of them and one for the office. He thinks the professionalism of them dressed as princesses and things is debatable but Reigen disagrees and says it adds a fun element to their office and well…he can’t really deny that. He can still feel the residual joy bubbling up inside him as they leave the shop hand in hand. He brings their joined hands to his lips, pressing a kiss to Reigen’s knuckles. “I’m glad it started raining.”

Reunited and it feels so goooood ☺️ I’m back with my babes! And good God, Linda, that chapter was not any less angsty, and why do you just wanna see me cry? 😭 Well, the aftermath of what you did this time is below the cut:
First of all, it’s so cute how she wakes up and immediately sees all her loved ones there, even Cas. It truly warms my heart how much they care about her, not that I expected anything less. But they’re such a cute and caring family 🥺❤️
And God, Dean holding her hand when she woke up almost broke me with all the fluffiness 😭 I-I- just want to be happy, goddammit 😩
Tumblr media
She gave a kind of feeble wave.
"Hi." she said, lamely.
Tumblr media
I had to. You understand 😂😂😂❤️
But Dean was beaming down at her like she'd just given the most rousing of speeches.
He’s so smitten and in love with her!!!! Back to my earlier point, please just let them be happy! I’m begging you 😭👏
The others nodded reluctantly, but Dean sat back on the uncomfortable chair. "No, I'm gonna stay here."
Bless his stubborn heart 😂💚 Of course, he wasn’t gonna leave, but I love that the doctor held her own until he grumbled away lol
"Fine." he said quietly. "Can I have two minutes?"
Dr. Doshi nodded as she turned away. "Just two and no more." Dean rolled his eyes.
I can see him doing that! 🤣
"God, Jules, I'm so sorry. I should have sent Cas to you a long time ago to hide you from them. It was so careless...so..." he broke off, his jaw clenched.
I mean, yes, but you fixed it now! No need to play the blame game again. How about you Winchesters pick up Monopoly or Twister for once, huh?
Instead of ending her tears like Dean had hoped, her sobs increased.
Dean was immediately contrite. "Jules, this...it was supposed to help!"
I loved them so much 😂😂😂 I understand Julie. I would’ve only started sobbing more, too. It’s also such a boy/girl thing. Everytime I’m sad and my husband tries to cheer me up, I just end up crying more because he’s too sweet 😂🙈
She pulled him in for a kiss that was meant to be quick, but turned heated and extended as soon as her lips met his. Ten months of wanting his mouth on hers made it very difficult to stop or pull away.
Duh. Go get it, girl. Ram your tongue down that man’s throat. You have all our blessing 🥵
“It’s five friggin’ minutes! Are you kidding me?” He wasn’t exactly yelling, but he could definitely be heard.
Again, bless him 😂❤️ Honestly, this might be my favorite Dean chapter so far. I just love him in this one. His concern and the way he worries about her and reacts to everything is just so him, and he’s so adorable! At the same time, I really wanna give this poor man a hug. He’s been through a lot 😭
“She’s eating breakfast, and you’re telling me you didn’t know if she was awake?”
I snorted so hard at this 🤣
“We’ve gotta go, Dean.”
CAS!!!! 🤬 *grabs angel blade and prepares to smite* Take her with you! Take her with you! Take her with you! TAKE HER WITH YOU! I swear to God if that stupid man leaves her behind again, I will murder him for real this time 😑
Tumblr media
Dean shook his head and smiled at Julie. “He grows on you.”
He really does 😂💕🐝
Dean inhaled deeply. “Cas says there’s a rogue cupid in a little town back east.”
Ooooh! I feel like this episode would’ve been so interesting to see with this Dean! Would he have been craving Julie or would he have still felt “empty”? I’d be so curious to know what happened there! 🤓
Suddenly there was a very loud beeping noise coming from one of the machines beside the bed and a nurse came rushing in.
I. CAN’T. 🤣🤣🤣 Nothing like Dean Winchester rocking your vitals 😏🔥
“I’m pretty sure most of the medical team looking after you wants to throttle me.”
Uhm, yes, but we wouldn’t have it any other way 😘
“God, Dean. Just let me love you.”
Tumblr media
That goodbye broke me 😭💔
She did see him a lot sooner. He showed up on her doorstep three months later, when his world ended.
Dude, that ending!!! 😳 Is Sam already “dead when he comes back to her? I feel like I will go through much more hurt, considering I have a few more chapters. I doubt you’ll make it easy for me from now on 😅 I love this series so much! And I’m glad you continued it with a few spin-offs because I don’t know what I’d do if it ends and I don‘t get to see my cuties again 🖤
Love you, babe 😘
Green is My Favorite Color Ch. 11
Pairings: Dean x Fem!OFC (eventual)
Explicit 18 +/Warnings: Angst, some fluff, hospital setting, talk of injuries.
Word Count: 3, 395
Series Summary: Dean has been her hero from childhood, can she ever get him to be more?
|| Series Masterlist ||
Chapter Summary: What will happen for Julie and Dean when she wakes up?
A/N:  The eleventh chapter in a longer series. As I’m writing, the story is stretching out a little and I’m thinking it’s going to be at least 20 chapters. Sorry! 😬 It’s what I’ll call cannon adjacent. It will follow the general storylines through the seasons, but I’m creating my own offshoots. 😊
A/N 2: I'm SO sorry this chapter was two weeks in coming. RL got all up in my face! LOL! The next chapter should be up by the end of this coming week. I hope chapter 11 was worth the wait even though it's a bit short. I know for sure the next chapter will be pretty long, so I figured I wouldn't tire you out with this one! 😉
The beautiful divider at the end was created by @talesmaniac89. 💗

Julie's eyelids felt heavier than lead as she tried to force them open. The room was dim, but still bright to her exhausted eyeballs. They felt grainy and dry, but she finally managed to keep them open long enough to take in her surroundings.
She was in a bed.
She looked down at her chest to see the countless tubes and wires that were connected to her.
Check that - she was in a hospital bed.
She looked passed the end of her bed, to her right, and saw Sam's very long frame scrunched up on a tiny, two person, blue vinyl, hospital couch.
It made her smile.
Then at the foot of her bed were two wooden chairs, covered in more vinyl, yellow and orange this time. One of the chairs held a dozing Bobby, his hat over his eyes and his mouth open slightly, a light snore issuing from it.
The other chair held a man in a tan trench coat, staring at the floor. She didn't recognize him, but there was a sort of vague familiarity there that she couldn't put her finger on.
Sitting beside her on her left, was Dean.
His hand was pushed through the side rail of the bed so it rested over hers. He sat upright in what looked like the world's most uncomfortable chair, the blue vinyl that covered parts of the arms and back was cracked and tufts of white stuffing were sticking out.
He couldn't possibly be comfortable, and yet he was sleeping. Maybe he was just exhausted Julie reasoned, since there were dark purple circles under his eyes and his cheeks looked sunken and pale. He had what looked like several days worth of beard covering his face and Julie found she wanted to reach up and run her fingers through it.
As she shifted her hand under his, intending to do just that, his eyes sprung open and then widened in shock.
"Jules." he whispered. Then he shouted, "Jules!"
The other three men jumped to their feet, Sam's legs a little rubbery under him after being constricted for so long.
"Sam, go get the doctor." Dean shouted at him and Sam nodded, his deep dimples showing in his wide grin as he dashed out the door.
Julie shook her head, overwhelmed by all the faces staring at her in expectation. She gave a kind of feeble wave.
"Hi." she said, lamely.
But Dean was beaming down at her like she'd just given the most rousing of speeches. Bobby was surreptitiously wiping away tears and the handsome blue-eyed man at the end of the bed gave her a small smile and a nod.
He continued to be familiar, his identity just out of reach. Dean saw her staring at him and smiled.
"Oh, yeah. Guess you guys haven't officially met. Cas, this is Julie. Jules, this is Cas."
Julie remembered suddenly where she recognized him from. He'd been with Bobby and Sam when they came to fight the angels.
"Angels." Julie whispered.
It all came rushing back to her memory and she closed her eyes, her breath catching as the fear and terror came rushing back to her.
Dean leaned down and pressed his lips to her forehead. "It's okay, Jules. You're safe now." Before he could say anything more, the doctor came in, with a bright smile on her face.
"Good morning, Ms. Taylor. I'm Dr. Doshi." She said with a hint of a musical Indian accent lilting her words. "We've been a little worried about you. You've had quite the room full of champions here these last few days." she said, indicating the four very large men taking up most of the room.
"Days?" Julie asked, shocked.
"Yes." The doctor said as she pushed her way in between Dean and the bed, paying no mind to his hulking presence or his refusal to move.
She looked at the machines that were beeping around Julie and wrote on the clipboard she carried before tucking it under her arm and laying her hand on Julie’s shoulder.
"It was almost three days ago that you were mugged and stabbed. Do you remember what happened?"
Julie looked at Dean and he smiled. "Oh, um...no, I'm sorry. I don't remember much of anything."
The doctor nodded and smiled kindly again, patting her and moving off to the other side of the bed to mark down numbers from those blinking and beeping machines.
"Not to worry, my dear. That's very common when someone suffers a trauma as you did. It may come back to you slowly, or it may not come back at all. But for now the most important thing is that you continue to rest and improve."
She moved to the foot of the bed and hung the clipboard there. "You had a puncture to your spleen and had emergency surgery to remove it. You shouldn't worry about the loss, since your liver will take over for most of the functions your spleen carried out."
Julie just nodded feeling as though her head might split from the sheer amount of data being processed by her brain.
"You lost a lot of blood, and we were quite concerned for some time about the excessive internal bleeding you’d suffered. You also had an infection take hold at the site of the wound, but you seem to be coming along nicely now. Your vitals are good, and you're awake which is a very big sign of improvement."
The doctor turned to the men. "Now gentlemen, against all the rules of the hospital, I have given you permission to stay here while Ms. Taylor's condition was so unstable. But I'm afraid now, I must insist that you go get a proper night's sleep for yourselves, eat food, and return tomorrow when visiting hours begin."
The others nodded reluctantly, but Dean sat back on the uncomfortable chair. "No, I'm gonna stay here."
Dr. Doshi smiled sweetly, but her voice was like steel. "No, Mr. Winchester, you will not stay here. You will leave with your friends and let Ms. Taylor rest. She is only going to sleep now, anyway."
Julie turned her head to Dean in time to see him give the little doctor the most withering stare he could muster up. "Yes, and when she wakes up, I will be here."
"Dean." Julie admonished quietly. But she needn't have bothered. Dr. Doshi was not impressed with or bothered by his steely demeanor.
"You will be here in the morning when visiting hours begin, at seven AM."
The doctor stared at the hunter, never losing her smile, but never giving an inch either. Clearly Dean was not the first stubborn patient or family she'd dealt with and she would brook no nonsense.
Finally her eyes softened slightly and she leaned forward to pat Dean's hand. "I promise we'll take good care of her, haven't we so far?"
Dean nodded, begrudgingly.
Dr. Doshi nodded back. "And so now I must insist that you don't make yourself our next patient. Please go take care of yourselves." she said, looking around and including the other three men in her concern.
Dean caved. Orders and commands he could fight, but he got awkward when someone showed concern for him, and he never really knew how to act.
"Fine." he said quietly. "Can I have two minutes?"
Dr. Doshi nodded as she turned away. "Just two and no more." Dean rolled his eyes.
Bobby and Sam came and gave her a hug telling her they'd be back first thing. Cas shook her hand a little stiffly and patted Dean on the shoulder as he left.
Dean looked down at her and suddenly the room was very empty and quiet. Julie smiled at him, completely unsure how to act now that they were alone. She was so tired and her mind was still swimming with everything it was trying to process.
Seeming to understand, Dean just leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her cheek before he pulled back and took her hand.
"I'll go and let you sleep. I just wanted to let you know that you'll be safe. Cas branded your ribs."
Julie's eyes got wide. "He did what?"
Dean smiled. "It's an Enochian sigil. It will keep you hidden from the angels. Cas carved it into your ribs, it's what he did for me and Sam."
His eyes got dark, and Julie could see guilt rear up in his expression. "God, Jules, I'm so sorry. I should have sent Cas to you a long time ago to hide you from them. It was so careless...so..." he broke off, his jaw clenched.
"Dean, don't." Julie said, tears coming to her eyes.
She wasn't sure why she was crying. Maybe it was just the culmination of everything that had happened, or maybe it was her sadness at knowing that no matter what she said, Dean wouldn't let go of bearing the guilt for what had happened. Whatever the reason, tears spilled down her cheeks and Dean shook his head.
"Don't cry, Sweetheart." He let go of her hand and reached into his jacket pocket.
"Here. Maybe you could use this again." He said as he opened his hand to show her what he’d pulled out.
Hanging from a thin piece of black cloth was her cherished silver talisman. He tied the delicate cloth around her wrist like a bracelet.
Instead of ending her tears like Dean had hoped, her sobs increased.
Dean was immediately contrite. "Jules, this...it was supposed to help!"
Julie laughed through her tears. "It does. Really." She reached up for him and he immediately leaned down to her so she wouldn't have to stretch.
She pulled him in for a kiss that was meant to be quick, but turned heated and extended as soon as her lips met his. Ten months of wanting his mouth on hers made it very difficult to stop or pull away.
But the sound of a throat being cleared pulled them apart. In the doorway, Dr. Doshi stood and tapped her watch without saying anything. Dean growled slightly, and Dr. Doshi smiled back.
With one more wholly unsatisfying peck on the lips, Dean stood up. "I'll be back first thing." Dean promised.
Julie nodded and brushed away the last of her tears and smiled. "I'll be here."
Dr. Doshi moved out of the doorway as Dean pushed passed her. "Doctor." He acknowledged with a tight smile.
"Mr. Winchester."
***
The next morning Julie was sitting up drinking a cup of coffee from her breakfast tray when she heard Dean’s voice.
“It’s five friggin’ minutes! Are you kidding me?” He wasn’t exactly yelling, but he could definitely be heard.
Julie heard the muffled and significantly quieter voices of the nurses, but couldn’t make out their response.
“So what if she is sleeping? Do you think I’m gonna go in there with a fucking brass band and wake her up? I just want to go into her room.” He seemed to realize he was contradicting his claim of being able to be quiet, and his voice got low enough that she could no longer hear him.
But he must have won the fight because shortly thereafter he was quietly opening her door and peaking inside. When he saw her sitting up finishing her breakfast, he scowled out the open door. “She’s eating breakfast, and you’re telling me you didn’t know if she was awake?”
He rolled his eyes and tried to slam the door, but it was on hydraulics and couldn’t be slammed. He settled for scowling his way over to her bedside, cup of coffee in hand.
“Good morning!” Julie said, extra chipper. “Sounds like your morning is off to a great start!” She gave him an overly cheery smile and he returned it with an incredibly sarcastic one.
“They weren’t going to let me in because visiting hours didn’t start for another five minutes. Can you believe that? Why are they so against visitors here?” He handed over the coffee he held and took the plastic cup out of her hand.
“Here, this will be much better.” He said, setting the hospital coffee down on her breakfast tray.
Julie took a sip and let out a grateful groan. It was delicious and was once again made perfectly to her preferences.
Magic.
She pushed her breakfast tray out of the way and scooted her legs over a little, patting the bed, so Dean would sit down.
“How are you feeling?” He asked as he sat.
Julie shrugged. “Not bad. They gave me a lot of painkillers, so I slept pretty good.” She dangled the charm on her wrist and smiled. “And of course, I had this.”
Dean smiled back, but it was short lived. “Jules...” he began and Julie knew what he was going to say before he said it.
“I’m so sorry. I never thought…I mean, I knew how badly Zachariah wanted me to say yes, and I knew what he was willing to do to us, to me and Sam, to make it happen, I just didn’t think he’d go so far as to hurt someone completely innocent and uninvolved.”
He shook his head. “But I should have known. I should have realized how fanatical he was. I should have had Cas ward you a long time ago. It’s just…” He closed his eyes tightly. “I spend so much time actively trying not to think about you, that I…” He trailed off and opened his eyes again.
“Jules, I’m so sorry. I can't ever...” his voice was too choked to finish his thought.
Julie shook her head and reached out her hand toward him. He took it and trapped it between both of his. “Please, don’t apologize, Dean. And don’t feel guilty. You didn’t do this to me, and it's not your fault." Julie tried to bolster him with a grin. "You did, however, end the guy who did, so...thanks!”
Dean nodded absently and Julie knew he wasn’t going to let go of the blame. “Yeah,” he said with a smile, “I managed it with a pretty amazing assist from this newbie hunter. You shoulda seen her.”
Julie blushed a little, but before she could respond, Cas pushed open the door. “Dean.”
He noticed Julie and nodded. “Hello. How are you this morning?”
“Better, thanks.”
“That's good.” The angel looked back to Dean. “We’ve gotta go, Dean.”
Julie felt her heart drop. Dean rolled his eyes and licked his lips before he looked over his shoulder at Cas. “Yeah, okay Cas. Just give me a minute.”
Dean turned back to Julie and opened his mouth to speak but then he paused, looking back to Cas still standing in the doorway. He stared at him for a moment before Cas seemed to cotton on.
“I’m sensing awkwardness. I should leave the room?” He asked.
“Yeah, Cas. 'Give me a minute', means go away and I’ll see you in a minute. Or two.” He added when he realized the angel was likely to time out an exact minute.
Cas nodded slightly and left the room.
Dean shook his head and smiled at Julie. “He grows on you.”
Julie nodded. “I bet. Tell him I say thank you for helping to save our lives.”
“I will.”
Julie frowned. “How did the three of them even know where we were, or that we were in trouble?”
“Cas.” Dean said, nodding toward the door and the departed angel. “Another angel, Inias, an old garrison buddy of Cas’, didn’t approve of what Zachariah was doing, involving an innocent human, and reached out to Cas.”
Julie nodded. “I guess we should be grateful not all the angels are sadistic monsters.”
Dean gave a small huff and rolled his eyes. He didn’t seem to be won over.
There was quiet for a moment and then Julie spoke, barely above a whisper. “You’re leaving?”
Dean inhaled deeply. “Cas says there’s a rogue cupid in a little town back east.”
Julie frowned. “A rogue cupid? Like, you mean the fat baby with a bow and arrow?”
“That’s what I said,” Dean smiled at her. “but Cas says a cupid looks pretty much like any other angel.”
Julie nodded. “Well, we don’t want a rogue angel running around, that’s for sure.”
Silence reigned again, but it was so full of unspoken things that Julie felt choked by it.
Finally Dean stood up and moved to her side. He leaned down and grasped her face with both hands and captured her mouth in a deep kiss.
With all the tubes and wires still hooked up to her Dean couldn’t get as close to her as he wanted, but he swept his tongue into her mouth, licking up into her and causing Julie’s stomach to tighten and her core muscles to clench.
He slanted his mouth over hers again and again, moaning softly as she grasped the zippered sides of his green canvas jacket and pulled him closer.
Suddenly there was a very loud beeping noise coming from one of the machines beside the bed and a nurse came rushing in. Seeing, the tableau of Dean grasping Julie’s face and Julie grabbing onto Dean, the nurse rolled her eyes, but grinned as she moved over to stop the beeping.
“Your heart rate spiked.” She said, blushing slightly as she looked at Dean, with his kiss swollen lips and heated expression. “Try to be careful.”
She practically ran out of the room and Dean dropped his forehead to Julie’s with a chuckle. “I’m pretty sure most of the medical team looking after you wants to throttle me.”
Julie smiled through the tears that sprang to her eyes as Dean pulled away. She let her hands drop from him and looked down at her lap.
“Jules.” Dean said, his voice soft and imploring. “Please…don’t.”
Julie looked up at him and didn’t try to stop her tears. “I can’t help it. I won’t pretend I’m okay with this, because I’m not. I know you have to go now, but come back to me. When this hunt is over, come back to Bobby’s, let me help you heal, let me take care of you just a little bit before the next fight comes. And when I’m well again, let me join the battle, let me fight beside you.”
Her voice got very soft as she reached out a hand and ran it down his cheek.
“God, Dean. Just let me love you.”
Dean closed his eyes and she could see the column of his throat moving up and down as he swallowed. When he opened his eyes again, Julie saw that something had shifted in his gaze. He almost looked resigned and fearful. His look was one that said, 'God, I shouldn’t be doing this.' He opened his mouth to say something but Cas was suddenly there in the doorway.
“I’m sorry, Dean, but it’s been a lot more than two minutes, and we really must go now.”
Julie was desperate to know what Dean had been about to say, but he just nodded silently, jaw clenched, before he pressed a kiss to her cheek and pulled away.
“Please take care of yourself, Jules. Sam will stop in right away to say goodbye and Bobby and Annie are going to be here soon to stay with you.”
He nodded again stiffly and his smile was more like a grimace. “I’ll see ya, kid.” He said and spun away from her and out the door.
Cas looked at her heartbroken face and her tears falling rapidly and frowned deeply. “I really am very sorry Julie. I don’t know…” He paused and looked very confused.
“I’m sorry.” He repeated, following Dean out the door, and Julie was alone again, her heart broken again.
But this time she had a tiny spot of light in the form of Dean’s interrupted thought. He was going to say something, and despite telling herself that it was stupid to consider it, stupid to think he was going to say anything besides another goodbye, Julie couldn’t beat back the kernel of hope in her heart that maybe she would see him again soon. Or sooner than last time anyway.
She did see him a lot sooner. He showed up on her doorstep three months later, when his world ended.

Draco Malfoy was insufferable.
The Prince of Slytherin was unbearable for many reasons, things you've been taking notice of since your first year at Hogwarts when you accidentally had the ”pleasure” of interacting with him when he called you stupid in a class for reciting a spell incorrectly. That day, a hostility blossomed. A hostility that ensued nothing but teasing, mocking, and criticizing that would sometimes go too far and you'd both have to be pulled away from each other by your friends’ before either of you said anything excessively harsh that had no return.
You often felt like Malfoy sought you out to bother you and only for that. You could be sitting in the Quad with friends, conversing and laughing like nothing in the world mattered, and a few minutes later you'd be hurling insults towards the blond across the courtyard after he would yell something infuriating to you with that smug smirk on his face and his goons laughing wildly beside him as if he just said the most hilarious thing they've ever heard.
On the days you’d ignore him, not having the patience or the energy to deal with him, he would still somehow find a way to push your buttons. Little things here and there like passing you in the corridors and tugging at the ends of your hair gingerly like a child but enough to tick you off or sending you notes from across the class in the form a small fluttering bird with a lousy drawing of you usually with a message along the lines of, “Y/L/N, hopefully, this note finds itself in the nest of hair you have today xx DM.”
In all honesty, there wasn’t a day you didn’t encounter Draco and it’s been that way for seven long years. Neither of you ever gotten tired of mildly or spitefully bullying each other and neither of you ever dreamed of stopping. He was one of the few constants in your daily life, and you in his. It was like you both lived on annoying the other, and in the midst of all the chaos that you brought to one another; there was a small, teeny, tiny acquaintance - not that either of you would ever admit it. You may have noticed it the time you bet each other ten galleons for who would win in the Triwizard Tournament your fourth year and he bet on Viktor Krum while you on Cedric Diggory. (he’s very much alive i refuse to think otherwise.)
“So you’re telling me, your mother is the reason why you’re not at Durmstrang,” you scoffed. “This whole time I could have been saved four years of headaches.”
“You’re just jealous some of us have more opportunities than others,” he snarks back pompously. “Unlike you, I hardly believe you would be graceful enough to even be considered admission into Beauxbatons.”
You had gone to see the last task of the competition just like the rest of the schools, all packed tightly onto the stands and watching carefully the exit of the maze. Naturally, you had arrived with your own friend groups, but somewhere during the time of sitting there and even being a few rows behind the blond and his minions, the two of you had met in the middle bench after he was trying to prove something wrong to you.
When Cedric appeared back in front of the stands with the glowing Triwizard cup held high over his head in victory and every Hogwarts student loudly celebrating, you had jumped up from your seat and shook wildly an irked Draco beside you. He roughly shrugged your hands off his stiff shoulder, looking up at you with a sneer that you met with a bright beaming smile.
“Pay up, Malfoy!” You held out your hand towards him, opening and closing your fingers to receive the bet money. “I believe it was ten galleons you owe me.”
He begrudgingly reached into his coat pocket and fished out the coins, counting them defeatedly before tossing them into your palm. “What a waste of galleons.”
“Hey, you made the bet,” you reminded him with a still very bright smile. You shoved the money into your pockets, keeping one of the gold coins in between your fingers, and gave him a small hair ruffle that he harshly recoiled from before you turned to jump back up towards the level of stands your friends were originally sitting at.
“Were you really sitting with Malfoy this whole time?” One of your friends questioned when you reached them, a goading smirk on his face.
“Ooooh, she definitely was,” another friend piped up, wiggling her eyebrows. “They’re obsessed with each other.”
“Shut up,” you smack her arm casually, showing the pair the one gold galleon you were holding. “We are not. I was only sitting with him to get my bet money.”
“Sure,” they drawled in unison, sniggering when you threw your head back in annoyance.
You looked down the rows to see the mop of white hair you just sent into disarray. He was slowly descending the stairs of the stands with Crabbe and Goyle following closely behind him. Almost as if he felt your eyes on his back, he turned back to look at you, his cold gray eyes gazing into yours. It was like everything around you went quiet, the only thing in your focus was him and all you could do was stare back. It wasn’t until your friends started stifling laughter and whispering “aww’s” that you snapped out of the short-lived and odd few second trance you were in. He waited for you to do something before he turned back around, and you did - by holding up both hands; the one golden galleon on your left and your middle finger on your right, grinning to yourself when he rolled his eyes throwing you the finger right back before he finally disappeared into the mob of people below.
You were briskly walking down the corridors, books held tightly to your chest with your friend at your side while you made your way to Advanced Potions with Slughorn after Snape finally made his way into the DADA position. It was an easy class, potions being something you had a knack for and it gave you enough leisure to mess with your “favorite” Slytherin who shared it with you.
“Look there goes your boyfriend,” your friend teases, elbowing your upper arm roughly and nodding her head down towards the hall to the tall blond appearing around the corner and entering swiftly into the class.
“He’s not my boyfriend,” you hiss. “I’m tired of everyone saying that. I hate him and he hates me, end of story.”
“You know when you say you hate him, it just sounds like the opposite,” she says tauntingly. “Besides, hate is a strong word and very misplaced. Maybe, it’s just years of built-up tension that both of you have been too nervous to do anything about.”
“Tension? Yeah, I want to strangle him,” you laugh to yourself at the thought.
“Not that tension, idiot,” she shakes her head, “I mean sexual tension...clearly.”
You gave her a horrified look mixed between being disgusted and being offended. You held your hand over your mouth and pretended to gag as dramatically as you could. “I am appalled that you would even say that. I would rather be locked in a room with Filch and Peeves and hear them argue and fight all day than to be with Malfoy like that.”
“Come on, think about it,” she encourages, stopping the two of you a little ways away from the classroom. “You guys 'hate' each other?” She finger quotes the hate, looking at you with a raised eyebrow. “When you hate someone, you don’t go out of your way to talk to them every day.”
“It’s not like that,” you wave a hand dismissively. “Also, this isn’t a cliche, this is real life. We hate each other, that is all there is to it.”
You picked up the walk again, your friend to following behind you while letting out a deep and exhausted sigh. You couldn’t help but think about what she said, sure, perhaps at one point you thought Draco was attractive with his bright silver hair, his glittering gray eyes, his little button nose that he would crinkle up every other word he spoke in his charming haughty voice, or the way he’d tower over you in the middle of a conversation gone wrong and he’d be talking lowly to you but all you’d be able to focus on was the sweet scent of apples and cologne that radiated off of him.
“No,” you whispered almost silently to yourself, forcing yourself out of your thoughts and shaking your head from side to side as if it was going to get the image out of your head. He was mean, disrespectful, arrogant, and insulted you daily - even if you both laughed about it or gave props for the perfect jabs.
The first thing your eyes landed on when you walked into the dingy Potions classroom was Draco, his focus trained on the ceiling as if he was deep in thought. Just as his eyes were about to flicker down towards you, and sensing that he was about to, you quickly avoided his gaze and concentrated onto Slughorn who was waiting patiently by his desk with a bubbling cauldron for you and your friend to join the crowd in front of him.
“Great! Now that we’re all here,” Slughorn began excitedly, fixing the sleeves of his robes as he grabbed the ladle in the cauldron and began stirring it while continuing his lecture.
You were trying to listen, capturing only the professor’s last sentence as he called on someone who raised their hand. All attention was thrown out the window when you realized Draco was standing near said classmate, a look of annoyance suddenly clouding his features when his pale eyes met yours.
“What?” He mouthed. You ignored him, trying to turn your concentration back onto Slughorn but nothing he was saying made sense, and right as you caught a word you did understand, a shuffling and an abrupt arm knocking into yours threw you right back out of the loop.
“Watch it,” you snap hushedly when you notice who it is. “Why are you over here?”
“I can’t say hello to my number one fan?” He whispers back, snickering slightly when you scoffed quietly.
“Fan? Says the one who shoved his way through the crowd to come over here,” you grumble, crossing your arms.
“I hardly shoved,” he mutters. “I only moved because I couldn’t see Slughorn from where I was standing. Not everything’s about you.”
“Really? Because to me, it seemed like you came over here for my attention.”
He let out a breathy chuckle, a patronizing smile making its way onto his face. The type of typical boy smile where his mouth is half agape with his tongue smoothing over his teeth as he stared off across the room with his fingertips rubbing thoughtfully against his jawline as he thought of what to say. You stood still as he bent down, nearing his mouth towards your ear and whispering hotly, “you wish, darling.”
Slughorn sent everyone to their paired tables, and as everyone began moving and Draco sauntered off away from you, you stood stuck there, shocked with the lingering chills that were sent down your spine from your archnemesis’ comment.
“I told you, you’re into each other,” your friend sang expectantly from behind you, grabbing onto your sleeve and directing the two of you towards your table.
You were working peacefully at your workspace, cutting up, peeling, and crushing the ingredients that your friend was sliding across the surface to you. In the table behind you was where Draco was working annoyingly quiet, tossing the stripped stems of the roses at you that you had to peel, tiny thorns pricking at your ankles through your socks since the bigger thorns had been taken off for the potion. As payback, you would throw back loose extra pearl dust you ground up, giggling tauntingly when he would frown at you for getting the coarse white powder all over his Italian leather shoes and most definitely inside of them as well.
When you, and seemingly the rest of the class, had finally thrown in all the ingredients and the potion promptly finished brewing, beautiful clouds of white and pink smoke began rising from the cauldrons, each one having a lovely scent of first; freshly pressed high-priced linens, then a faint smell of a brand new racing broom out of a box with a freshly polished wood handle that then quickly transformed into a sweet harvest of apples, green specifically, and finally...
“Ugh, gross,” you pinched your nostrils closed, turning your body around and sending a scowl towards Draco’s way. “Malfoy, we get it, your cologne is expensive, now stop spraying it. I was smelling all these wonderful things and you ruined it.”
He arched an eyebrow at you, looking at you as if you were crazy. “Are you mad? I didn’t spray anything, I think you’ve finally lost it.”
“Well you laid it on too heavy this morning then, it reeks in here.”
“You’re one to talk, Y/L/N. Did you bathe yourself in that dreadful perfume you wear just now? And that ghastly lip shiner thing you use,” He sneers, crinkling up his nose. “I can’t even think straight, I might vomit.”
“Lip shiner? It’s called lip balm, you prat,” you retort, crossing your arms angrily. “Either way, I haven’t used or sprayed anything either so-”
“For Merlin’s sake!” Your friend suddenly exasperated loudly from beside you making you briskly whirl around to look at her, a look of pure annoyance etched onto her face. “Are you two really that daft? Honestly? Have you been paying attention to anything other than each other? For instance, the potion we just made?”
This gained the attention of your classmates around you in the surrounding tables, turning their heads slightly but not obviously with small knowing smirks on their faces while they snickered quietly and listened. It was soundless as you reached towards the book in front of your friend, pulling it painstakingly slow towards you in fear of the words that were written on the open page.
“Amortentia,” you muttered glumly as you read the page, pushing it away from you dejectedly as everything began to click.
“The reason you’re both smelling each other is because you’re what the other desires and is attracted to. Wow, what a revelation! As if the whole school didn’t already know.”
You were afraid to turn around. You could feel the cold and hard pair of eyes burning holes onto your back and the immediate amount of whispers and giggles of the people around you. Luckily, Slughorn was busy at the other end of the room, working diligently with another pair of students who managed to mess up their potion.
“That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard,” Draco announces finally.
“What’s so ridiculous about it?” You questioned, your heart falling to the pit of your stomach when you turned again and took notice of the way his lips were curling upwards as if it was the most disgusting thing he could have ever heard.
“Think about it, Y/L/N,” he deadpans. “Why would I ever desire someone like you?”
There had been occasions over the years when you were in this situation. None as drastic and as revealing, but there would be times when friends and others would poke fun and say the exact same thing your friend told you earlier. The usual, “they got the hots for each other!” and you would always brush it off and joke about how you could never, and he’d do the same. It was always amongst laughs and jokes, but as you looked at the Slytherin in front of you - there wasn’t a hint of amusement on his hardened face.
“Piss off, Malfoy,” you seethed, biting down hard on your lip to refrain from lashing out either in tears or in insults, you couldn’t decide. “If I’m so revolting, leave me alone from now on, I mean it.”
“I never said that,” he argues. “You’re just simply not my type.”
For some eerie, awful reason, the words tore into you like a sharpened knife going easily through butter. You were used to his insults, his mocking, his comments about your appearances - but this hurt, and you couldn’t explain why. You thought, for a second, possibly, that maybe your friend was right. Maybe there was a hidden attraction you had for the platinum blond that you buried deep away and one that he had for you. There was no way that was the case now, not at all.
And for the first time in your life, you couldn’t be more sure of a simple little fact.
You hated him.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
You don’t know how long you spent sitting in Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom, back against the cold tiled wall with your knees brought up to your chest. Your friends had tried to console you after the public rejection and humiliation, but their words only made you feel worse. You felt silly for being so bothered about being rejected by Malfoy, he wasn’t exactly someone you fancied, to begin with.
After dinner, you went off the grid and found yourself where you’re now sitting. The ghostly girl flew restlessly around you, popping out of her stall now and then to chat but then going back into her abyss of nothing when she learned you were still upset. You noticed it made her a little too pleased, considering the fact it was always her who was miserably wailing about her problems in the bathroom. She tried to hide it and let you talk to her about how you felt, but she gave terrible advice most of the time.
“Well, if it was me, I would have never started fancying someone who was mean to me,” she mumbled. “Like when Paul Wighorn made fun of my hair for a whole year and laughed when I cried. I hated his guts then and I still do now.”
She had a point, but she was also Myrtle. Nothing about the overly dramatic ghost made sense.
“I don’t fancy him, It’s just weird,” you trail off. “I can’t imagine a day without him, even if he is a complete arse. We always joked about how we hated each other, but I didn’t think he actually meant it, I guess.”
“I think you do fancy him, though,” she whispers knowingly in your ear, making you flinch from her cold draft. “Stop denying it, it’ll only keep making you feel worse. Amortentia doesn’t lie, silly. Maybe when you drink it, but before that, all real feelings are there, whether you know it or not.”
You sat quietly, taking in her words before something came crashing down onto you like a wall of bricks.
“I suppose that means he’ll have to stop denying it too,” she adds thoughtfully.
“Myrtle,” you rush to get up, smoothing your hair down profusely and fixing the wrinkles in your clothes. “You’re a genius.”
“I am?” She asks excitedly. “What did I say?”
You waved her off, giving her another thank you before rushing out of the bathroom and into the empty corridors. You were trying to go back to your dorm to sleep, hoping that when tomorrow came you would be bold enough to confront the Slytherin Prince but it was thirty minutes past curfew, something you didn’t notice until you were bustling down the steps in a rush and came face to face with the man of the hour himself doing his Prefect patrolling duties.
“Go to your dorm, Y/L/N,” he sneers. “I’ll take away house points, don’t test me,”
“I don’t believe you.”
“That I’ll take away house points? Watch me. Five-”
“No, you twat,” you groan, swatting his arm with your hand. “I don’t believe that I’m not your type.”
He stayed wordless for a moment, biting the inside of his cheeks and clenching his jaw as he peered down at you from his lanky height. “Why not?”
“Because I didn’t think you were my type until the amortentia made me aware of it,” you answer quietly. “Actually, my friend had a hand in it, but it was mostly the potion.”
Silence, again. Still and deadly. You could hear the large clocks around the school tick and tock, the hundreds of paintings snoring peacefully or chattering quietly. You avoided looking up at the boy in front of you, all of a sudden feeling small under his gaze until you felt cold fingers brush against your cheekbone and then softly through your hair causing you to finally look up into the soft wandering almost blue eyes.
“I didn’t find out with the amortentia,” he muttered almost reluctantly as if it was the most difficult thing he had to reveal. “I’ve known I’ve liked you for a while.”
“How long is a while?” You curiously wonder aloud.
“I’m not telling,” he smirks. “Perhaps you’ll figure it out one day.”
Both hands came up to rest on your cheeks, slightly cold but soft and tender. It sent chills throughout your body as he took a step closer to you and then closer, backing you carefully into the diagonally ascending stone wall that went in the direction of the stairs. Your breathing was getting uneven, you noticed the way you accidentally switched to manually forcing yourself to inhale and exhale normally when he leaned down with his face now being mere centimeters from yours. It was torture, having your eyes closed and feeling the way his nose was brushing against yours, minty breath warm against your lips as he ghosted over them with his. He was so close, you smelt everything that was in the damn potion that got you here. It sent flutters of warmth down your body, trickling down and seeping deeply into every bone in your body as if this is was the remedy its been needing. This is what you’ve been missing.
When you finally felt a soft pair of lips being pressed into yours, it felt almost unreal that you were there. It was awkward the first couple of seconds, both of you wondering how in the world had you gotten yourselves in this position, but after you relaxed and he found his Prince of Slytherin confidence - it was magic. His lips moved languidly against yours, affectionately and full of longing. He kept his hands on your cheeks, still timid to move anywhere else while you kept yours resting lightly on his sides. It scared you a little, how fast and how easily you melted into each other, like if this was something you’ve been doing with him for years rather than torment the other for laughs.
You hated the feeling when he pulled away, a gust of freezing castle air passing through the space between you and cooling your lips and face from his contact. His hands dropped down to his sides and he looked down at you with a small smile, a teeny bit smug, but happy. You wanted to feel the same way, but a question still loomed over your head, overpowering the giddiness you were vividly feeling.
“Why did you lie earlier?” You question softly, directing your gaze to the floor. “In class, I mean.”
He thought about his answer for a second, sighing deeply when he realized he had to uncover more truths about himself to you. You took a mental observation at that, he didn’t like to talk about feelings. “You didn’t say anything. Didn’t even look at me. I thought I’d beat you to it and reject you before you could reject me.”
“What made you think I’d reject you?” You coaxed. “Other than the fact that I made you a sworn enemy at eleven.”
“Exactly that,” he laughed lightly. “You’re unpredictable, Y/N.”
You smiled to yourself at the realization that he finally used your first name. “So are you, Draco.”
“Not really,” he grins. “Like in just a few moments, for example, I’m going to start snogging you.”
You opened your mouth to encourage him but shut it quickly when he closed the space between the two of you again, this time much closer than he was before. He was flush against you, and when you say you could feel everything; you could feel everything. You were almost begging for him to lean down and kiss you again by the time you felt his hands on you again, running delicately around the exposed skin of your hips when your shirt hiked up an inch on accident. He leaned down again, and with the advantage of his lowered height, you let your hands slide up his arms, biceps, and ultimately the nape of his neck where your fingers continued up into his hair. The breathiest gasp escaped his throat as you tugged at the ends gently, smirking to yourself when he closed his eyes in delight at the touch.
His lips came down onto your fast this time and hastily, pressing himself impossibly closer into you. You could feel his grip tighten against your hips, his hold moving upwards onto your waist as he continued to kiss you fervently. His teeth bit down softly on your bottom lip and you wasted no time in parting them slightly for his tongue to meet yours. You tugged at the platinum strands of hair again, feeling triumphant when a low groaning sound emitted from his throat at the sensation as he tilted his head to deepen the kiss further.
You knew you were done for when one of his hands slowly slid up your upper body, stopping first at your collarbones with warm fingertips fluttering over the skin, before he moved it upwards completely and he now had his large hand wrapped comfortably around your neck. You gasped in delight into the kiss, a swarm of butterflies going directly to your lower stomach as he squeezed against the artery in your neck meticulously, the coldness from his Malfoy family crest ring only adding fuel to the fire. He tore his mouth away from yours with his hand still clutched firmly around your throat and you were almost sent into orbit with the look he was giving you. A look filled with desire, adoration, and intensity - his pale gray eyes were much darker, almost a dark blue that resembled the starry night sky on a summer night.
Lips reattached themselves roughly and feverishly against your jawline, peppering long and tender kisses all the way towards your ear and then down towards your collarbones where he was beginning to undo the rest of the top buttons of your school dress shirt. You felt him smile against your hot skin when you’d writhe underneath him, emitting weak whimpers that you couldn’t hold back that he ended up having to clasp a free hand over your mouth as he whispered into your ear to stay quiet.
It didn’t matter that you were in the middle of a poorly lit corridor where anyone could walk past and see the frenzy that was unfolding, nor did it matter to Draco that his Prefect duties were long forgotten. Your friend was right, and everyone else for that matter; it wasn’t hate you felt for the blond at all, it was years and years of a craving and a hidden yearning packed with displaced tension.
And now, you were both exactly where you wanted to be; together.

Play It Cool (Part Eight)
TK knew the day was gonna be horrible the moment they came to work and saw that the entire diner was filled with cranky old people.
The fact that you weren’t there and your apparent replacement -- a waitress named Tina who may or may not be banging their boss -- came in forty-five minutes late only confirmed that fact.
But it wasn't until the seniors cleared out and TK got to talking with Tina about where you were that they came to realize just how God-awful the day really was.
“Kidnapped?!”
Tina nodded rapidly, her eyes wide. “Yeah! They passed out and some guy just,” she made a sweeping motion with her arms, “picked them up and ran!”
TK’s head swam as they processed the information, forcing them to lean on the counter to steady themselves. They wanted desperately for it to be a joke, but they knew it wasn’t.
The look on Tina’s face told TK all they needed to know. She was dead serious.
“Picked -- did someone chase after them?! Did you call the police?!” The panic was making TK’s voice rise to tea kettle levels. They ran their shaking hands through their hair, needing to do something to keep their mind off of --
the things they saw on the news the things they saw in scary movies thriller movies crime movies all the horrible horrible horrible things that could be happening to you right now as they just stood there and shook
“I-I don’t -- how did this --”
Tina didn’t seem to be aware of how close TK was to flipping their shit. Instead she went straight into gossip mode, leaning in close like she was telling a juicy secret. “Okay so like, I was waiting tables right?”
TK wanted to shake her. They didn’t need some long winded, dramatic story right now, not when you were fucking kidnapped oh dear God --
“And Y/N walks in and I’m like, what? You know how bad the food is, why would you eat here? But then they order a milkshake and I’m all like, ooooh, that’s why! ‘Cause the milkshakes bring all the customers to the yard --”
“Tina --”
“But then they just keep ordering milkshakes and they look super nervous the entire time, right? Like they’re shaking and muttering and sweating which, ew. But they keep ordering milkshakes, like a dozen of them. And they keep looking super nervous and scared and checking their phone a lot. And then someone came in!”
“Who?”
“I dunno. He was like, super tall? And creepy. And bald which, mega ew. I think he was old or something.” She shrugged. “Anyway, Y/N knocked over their milkshake and went to the bathroom to clean up and when they came back the guy was like, holding out a bunch of flowers which, you know, kinda made up for being bald and old? But after they took the flowers they like, passed out.”
“Passed out?” TK repeated, sounding as though they were being strangled.
“Yeah! I think he like, drugged the flowers? Which was weird ‘cause like, I didn’t even know that was a thing --”
TK wanted to throw up. Preferably over Tina’s shoes because why the fuck was she not taking this seriously and --
Oh God what happened to you.
Oh God what was happening to you right now.
Anything could be happening to you right now! You could be murdered or tortured or ra--
They could feel the bile in their throat. “Oh God…”
“A bunch of the customers ran after them, but the guy was fast. Super fast,” she said emphatically. “He was gone before anyone could catch up and the police, they showed up like ten minutes later asking a buncha questions.”
TK covered their mouth, their face growing paler by the second. “Did -- did they find them or --”
She just shrugged and went back to washing dishes.
Like she didn’t care. Like she couldn’t give any less of a fuck that one of their coworkers was kidnapped by some freak.
Calm down, a distant, more rational part of them said. Maybe there’s a reasonable explanation for this. Maybe this is all a misunderstanding. Maybe if you call them right now, they’ll pick up and everything’ll be fine.
TK clung to that shred of hope like a lifeline. They had their phone in hand and your contact on call before they realized what they were doing.
“Hello!”
“Y/N, are you --”
“I can’t come to the phone right now! Leave a message after the --”
TK hung up and tried again.
And again.
And again.
Each time it went straight to voicemail, they could feel their heart rate picking up, dread pooling in their stomach.
They didn’t want to think about it. Didn’t want to even consider it because these sorta things didn’t happen to them. It happened to other people, people on the news, people in crime shows, not someone they knew.
There had to be another explanation for this. You couldn’t be --
Be…
“I-I’m going on break!”
They threw off their apron and ran to the backroom before Tina could say anything.
Where is it, where is it, where -- there!
A black book, one filled with all the employee contact information. Specifically phone numbers and emergency contact numbers.
TK flipped through it until they got to your information. For your emergency contact you listed your roommate, Lucy. TK wasn’t sure why considering how often you complained about her and her willingness to leave you with all the rent, but whatever. They weren’t complaining.
They called her up, fidgeting at the dial tone. “Come on, come on, pick up…”
It answered. The person on the other line sounded irritated, and oddly breathless. “Yo! Who the hell’s this? I’m kinda --”
In the background TK heard a long, loud moan. It took a second for TK to realize what they were hearing and when they did, they had to resist the urge to immediately hang up.
Jesus Christ.
“-- in the middle of someone, ya know?” she said with absolutely no shame. “It better be important.”
TK grimaced, blushing despite themselves. “Is this Lucy? I’m --”
“Whoa.” The playful tone in her voice dropped, turning into a snarl. “Who the hell told you that name? Who the fuck is --”
“I’m TK, Y/N’s coworker from work,” they cut in. “Are they there? It’s an emergency.”
The phone was muffled for a moment. TK heard Lucy call out to someone in the background. “Nope. Not here.”
“Shit.” Their hands were trembling again. “Did they at least come home last night?”
“I don’t -- hold on.” They heard her yell to someone in the background, followed by a banging sound. The moaning, thank God, came to a stop. “What the fuck is this about? What’s going on?”
TK hesitated before giving her the whole story. She was your emergency contact, she needed to know.
She took it as well as TK did. “WHAT THE FUCK?!”
“I --”
“I’m coming over there right the fuck now. You stay there, understand?” She hung up.
----------------------------------
Lucy dressed herself as she walked out the door.
She didn’t even bother to tell her newest “study buddies” to fuck off out of her apartment; she just left.
Halfway down the narrow hall she bumped into the landlord. She didn’t apologize and kept on walking.
“Lucy, your rent is --”
“Y/N got fucking kidnapped at their workplace. I don’t have time for your shit right now, Don.”
Any other time she would’ve fucking cherished the blindsided look on his face. “Wha --”
Lucy jumped down the steps and hit the ground running.
She didn’t have time to waste. Not with you.
-------------------------------------------
Left in the hallway, Don briefly considers the idea of just letting it go.
It didn’t have anything to do with him. You were a tenant, nothing more.
Or at least, that’s what he kept telling himself. Something about you had been catching his eye lately, though maybe that was the lonely divorcee in him grasping at straws.
He scowled down at the phone in his hand before finally biting the bullet and making the call. Fuck he hoped this was an actual emergency, because this was gonna get awkward.
-------------------------------------------
Officer Williams -- also known as Roy to his friends and his Dad -- considered the information at hand.
A handle of witnesses, all who said the exact same thing. Tall, bald, hoodie vest, male, creepy looking. Short, baseball cap and hoodie, very nervous, undetermined gender. Short one passed out, tall one took them away. Flowers were involved.
And by the time the officers came to the scene, they were long gone.
Roy and the officers with him combed the area, but there was no sign of them. If he had to guess, the tall one must’ve taken a car along the way. Which meant they could be anywhere, even out of town for all he knew.
No security footage, because the boss of the place was too cheap to fix their broken cameras. Didn’t catch anything on the nearby traffic or store cameras either.
He knew your name, Y/N, and where you worked. But he knew nothing about the man who took you. Or why you were so scared of him, according to the other patrons.
An abusive ex? A thug shaking you for money? Roy had no clue.
He could look through some of the nearby shops, maybe see if they knew anything about it, but that could take some time. And he already had enough on his plate; maybe he should shift this over to someone else --
His phone rang.
“Hello? This is Officer Williams.”
“Roy, it’s me.”
He blinked. “Dad? What --”
“Listen, I’m gonna need a favor…”
------------------------------------------
You briefly woke up, hit with the sudden feeling that you were forgetting something.
But the warmth -- fuck, he’s so fucking warm -- curled around you kept you from fully waking.
His arms were wrapped around you. You could feel his heartbeat against your cheek. He was with you, he was yours.
You had never felt more comfortable, more loved in your life.
You snuggled back into your Honey’s arms, ignoring the nagging feeling in the back of your head. It couldn’t be that important. Not compared to snuggling up with your boyfriend.

Tumblr media
You sat in front of the mirror your shirt pulled up just enough to show your now growing belly that seemed bigger then it should for only being 10 weeks pregnant. It not like giant if your put a normal shirt on no one would notice it but it definitely seemed bigger then it should be.
"Bubba you almost done?" Chris poked his head into the open doorway to see you staring at the mirror. This is never a good sign. He thought walking in.
"Dad am I supposed to start showing this early? I'm only ten weeks." You looked up at him your hands on your belly.
"I'm not sure your mom was smaller when she was 10 weeks but every pregnancy is different." He tried to assure you and calm your nerves.
"I guess."
"Sweat-pea you have an appointment next week you can ask them about it then." He said. "But today you have to get to school. So cover up the  belly and come to the car." He placed a kiss to your head before walking out. You stood fixing your shirt before following him out of your room.
----
It's now the day of your appointment, you sat in your school cafeteria eating lunch. The appointment is right after school so Scott and Chris were both going to take you. You had to take off work since you were able to get a job at McDonald's. You weren't as nervous about this appointment as you were with the first one. You only had one question for the nurse and that was all.
"Y/n? You okay you've been staring at the wall for like five minutes." Marcus asked you.
"Oh.. Uh yeah, I just have an appointment after school and I'm a bit nervous for it." You said.
"Well, Y/n I have a question for you. It's been like three weeks can we know why you moved yet?" Liam asked you.
"My mom kicked me out." You told them looking down at the table.
"Why?" Oscar asked, before you heard him yelp as he was smacked by Leah and Marcus.
"I'm pregnant..." You whispered. It stayed quiet for a few moments.
"Can I be the baby's uncle Osc?" Oscar asked breaking the silence.
"You guys... Don't care about being friends with a teen mom?"
"You kidding? I love babies their so cute!" Liam said.
"Yeah! So can we be the baby's aunts and uncles?" Naomi asked.
"Sure!"
"Do you know the gender?" Leah asked.
"Not yet I get find out in a couple weeks though!" You said smiling in relief.
"I'm gonna be the best uncle to baby alien!" Oscar said, you giggled.
"I doubt the baby would be a alien." Marcus said.
"You don't know that the dad could be an alien in disguise." You said.
"She's right!" Liam said.
"The baby would be more likely to be a baby super hero then a alien since their grandfather is captain America." Leah said.
"Yo you got a point!" Oscar said.
"Not really he isn't Captain America anymore." Naomi said.
"But he was." You shrugged giggling.
----
You walked up to your dad's car where you saw Scott in the passenger seat. "Hi, Dad! Hi uncle Scott! Dad, I told my friends about the baby! They   don't care! they want to be the baby's aunts and uncles." You told him buckling in.
"What did you tell them?" Scott asked as Chris began to drive.
"I said yeah." You replied.
"Your allowing five kids you barely know be the uncles and aunts of your child?" Chris asked.
"Dad you allowed me Sebastian to be my uncle the first time I went to the first avenger set with you. You barely knew him then." You said.
"She's got a point." Scott said. "So are you nervous?"
"No." You said.
"That's good." Chris said smiling at you through the rear view mirror.
----
You sat on the bed as she got ready to do the ultrasound, your uncle and your dad sitting in the chairs that were in the room.
"So do you have any questions or concerns?" The nurse asked.
"Uh.. Yea I'm already showing isn't it a bit early?" You asked her.
"No, actually many people start showing around ten weeks." She explained giving you a gentle smile before starting the ultrasound and looking at the small screen. "Okay..." She mumbled. You watched her facial expression as she went from neutral to surprised to smiling. That got you a bit concerned. "There are two heartbeats! It's twins!" She announced. The room fell silent as the three of you took in the information.
"It's what?!" You exclaimed after a few minutes. "Nope! There's no way!" You said panicking. Chris had excuses himself a few moments before your panicking began. Probably to do his own.
"Here." She put the video onto the big screen where the two blobs you could see last time were more   prominent. "See, that's one head." She pointed to one. "And a second."
"I can't take care of two babies at once." You said. Scott stood up putting a hand on your shoulder to calm you down before Chris walked back in seemingly calmer than when he left. He knew you were having a baby but he wouldn't have been able to raise two kids at once and he was 24 when your parents had you, your so much younger than that he is scared for you.
"I'm sure it'll all work out sweetie." The nurse assured you as Chris took Scott's place by your side
"Remember I'm here to help you." Chris assured, you kissing your forehead. You let out a shaky sigh nodding. You should've been so much more worried.
"Are they healthy?" You asked the doctor.
"Yes! Would you like to hear their heart beats?" She asked you gently. You nodded.
This really wasn't how you were expecting to spend your high school years with two kids. You had come to terms with the fact you were going to be the mom to a singular kid. Now you have to come to terms with being a mom to twins.
"So at your next appointment, you should be able  to find the babies' genders out!" She told you. You gave a nervous smile nodding before looking at Chris and Scott. Scott seemed to be processing it, while Chris was giving you a reassuring smile keeping a hand on your shoulder.
A/n: well wasn't that a shocker... I already have names  picked out for the baby's and your gonna love them... Because they are Disney themed!!! I'll give you a sneak peek at their first initials. (I say middle names in the near so I'm not gonna do   they're full initials cause then you'll know the genders.
F.
F.
Ooooh and I may be giving slight hints to the names in the next few chapters but really subtle hints
I'll leave you too guess their names...

the screen shows yangyang?
“hi! right now, it is not my time! it’s her time, so let’s wake her up”
he points at the bed behind him then sets up the camera on the stand and walks over to the bed, sitting down on the side
“she told me to wake her up before her time, but she didn’t want to get up earlier”
he poked the lump in the blankets, and it stirred just the slightest bit
“hannah… wake up, schnucki”
the lump groaned and sat up revealing hannah with messy hair
she just looked at yangyang, eyes still sleepy, then slumped forward
camera cuts and it’s hannah with her makeup kit and yangyang’s out of frame talking to her
“i can’t believe you’re doing your makeup” “be quiet schnucki and let me do my relay cam”
“hey guys! it’s currently 3:11, and i’m fully awake now and doing my makeup because why not?”
she shows her phone which has the time, and she smiles when she sees her lockscreen
“do you like my lockscreen? roo and i have matching lockscreens. that is, shotaro. it’s a funny story, actually.”
yangyang scoffed in the corner and she rolled her eyes
“i already did a really thin layer of my cushion and blush, so i have to do my eye makeup quick”
true enough, she did do her makeup fairly quickly, little mix’s sweet melodies and ariana grande’s pov playing in the background
“hurry up,” yangyang in the background threw himself into her bed “we’re supposed to eat lunch”
“i took a shower early and cooked breakfast for roo and channie before they went to practice, then i cooked brunch for mark and jungwoo oppa, give me a break and fix my bed”
she finishes her eyeliner and takes the camera
“let’s go to the kitchen and heat up some of what i cooked earlier”
she sets the camera on the kitchen island so it catches the stove and a few cupboards and talks while working her way around the kitchen
“the two finished the breakfast i made them, and we’re out of side dishes,” she took out a container with a few pieces of fried meat, “looks like mark and jungwoo oppa ate more of the chicken tenders than i thought they would. looks like i have to make more.”
she takes out a bag of doritos and two tupperwares, one with flour in it
yangyang walks right in and lights up when he sees the bag of chips “aye, it’s doritos!”
“yes, and i need you to crush it” she laughed and handed him a rolling pin. she took out a two chicken breasts and proceeds to start filleting it “looks like you guys are gonna see me cook chicken tenders today”
yangyang stands next to her and rolls the dorito bag with a rolling pin, confused. she laughs and looks up at him
“it’s for the crust,” she laughed
“that’s why it always tastes so good and way better than anything else!”
he looks at her and they kinda freeze for a while
scene cuts and it’s her in front of a pot frying the chicken tenders with yangyang going “ooooh”
she faced him and laughed “you’re holding it way too close to my face”
“that’s okay, you look pretty” “whatever”
she just rolled her eyes and picked up one piece and showed it to the camera
“it’s a little orange, but that’s because i used cheesy chips as a crust.”
she stacked them onto a plate and smiled into the camera. she turned off the stove and carried the plate over to the coffee table by the couch. yangyang sat next to her and settled the camera in front of them
“you know the drill schnucki. no—” “no crumbs on your carpet, i know”
yangyang leaned his face a little closer teasingly. she gave him a tight lipped smile and pushed his head away
cut scene
“you know, at this point, people are gonna forget this is your solo relay cam” “who’s fault is it for wanting to eat lunch with me” “my face is quality content”
but they’re both just tucked into bed in dark-ish lighting
“i saw this movie trending called if anything happens, i love you” “oh, you do?”
she turned to him and gave him a deadly sweet smile, “schnucki, i will not hesitate to kick you out of my bed and feed you to yoonmi’s gigantic alaskan malamute”
he raised his arms in surrender
“anyway apparently it can make people cry? in twelve minutes? which is good because it’s twenty minutes to three, and we need to head to the company”
she showed her phone and it lit up showing the time. then a notification appeared. it was a text message from “lukey my shield”
“oh, it’s lucas oppa! Let me just tell him we’ll be in the company by 3:30”
and a small ball of fur can be seen in the background hopping up and smothering yangyang’s face. hannah turned after pressing send and laughed. she leaned back into the pillow and patted minnie’s head as soon as yangyang was able to wrangle the dog into his arms
scene cuts to them sitting in a car, minnie curled up on yangyang’s lap
“yeah, we didn’t finish the movie” she laughed, “we both got way too distracted. but now we’re on our way to the company for… stuff”
yangyang snorted, and so did her manager
“hey,” she gave a look off camera to the driver “kihyun oppa, you’re supposed to be proud i’m not saying anything” “whatever you say, kiddo”
“but it’s almost three! sorry my relay cam was kinda boring”
“i’m offended” “suck it up, schnucki” “maybe you two would like to end the hour before bickering again?”
yangyang and hannah looked at each other and laughed before hannah brought up her phone and showed the time
“2:59, and it’s almost ten oppa’s time,” she smiled, “i hope this wasn’t too boring for you guys. this is hannah’s relay cam ending, and-”
her phone started buzzing with a photo of her and lucas appearing on her screen just as the clock changed to 3:00. yangyang laughed and began waving using minnie’s paw
that’s where the relay cam ended

Questions (Have You Ever Wanted to be a Fly on the Wall?)
Summary: By now, you probably know the drill (his name is Bill), on their tenth birthday, the first words a person’s soulmate will say to them appears somewhere on their body. The word "hello" is one of the most common phrases in the world, so when Roman ends up with it on his wrist he decides to get creative. Everyone he meets who greets him with a "hello" he asks them a question. And he'll keep doing this until it's on someone's arm. This is literally my first ever fanfiction that I've finished and posted, so here's hoping you like it.
Pairings: Prinxiety, Logicality (background-ish), Dukeceit (background)
Word Count: 2870
Warnings: One instance of an F bomb, I think that’s it, let me know if it’s not
Notes:  I got the idea to write this after scrolling through soulmate POVs on TikTok with my sister for fun. We discussed how one could solve the problem of having a really common phrase, and she said "I'd just ask weird questions, because I'm really good at that." So I decided to write this. Most of the questions Roman asks in this I stole from my sister, because, yes, she really does randomly ask these wackadoo questions unprompted. She's great. Enjoy.
Read on AO3
If anyone was going to describe Roman as anything, it was fanciful. Of course most kids were excited by the prospect of getting their soulmark and meeting their soulmate, but Roman had very big plans for how he was going to meet his soulmate. He grew up with Disney movies telling stories of soulmates and star-crossed lovers and found himself mesmerized by the power of soulmates. The lovely tale of the Little Mermaid, and Ariel trying to somehow convey to the prince that he was her soulmate when she had no voice. The story of Aladdin doing all he could to survive and be worthy of his princess soulmate. When he was eight, he saw Anastasia, a story of soulmates who met before their words appeared. When she lost her memory, she couldn’t have known the boy who saved her was her soulmate, and he knew but thought that she must have died until fate brought them together again. Roman was amazed. With only two years until his words appeared, he fantasized about all the ways he would meet and woo his soulmate, what unique phrase would change his life forever. Maybe he already knew his soulmate and just didn’t know it was them! Roman counted the days until he got his words with impatient anticipation.
Roman was younger than his twin, Remus by seventeen minutes exactly. So there they were, huddling on the bottom bunk with flashlights at 3:11 am only two minutes left until Remus is exactly 10 years old and he receives his soulmark. “It’s going to be something really lame, like ‘you’re annoying’ or something,” Roman insisted. Having grown up with Remus, he found it hard to think he could even have a soulmate, but they both knew he was just giving him a hard time. “Nuh-uh,” Remus squawked in a mocking tone. “Yuh-huh,” came Roman’s equally childish reply. “NUH-UH!” “Shut up, or Mom and Dad will yell at us again!” Roman socked his twin with a pillow. He tapped the screen of the tablet they had snuck into their room from the living room. 3:12:31. They’d been checking the time obsessively, but now there was only half a minute left. They exchanged a sort of giddy look as the clock ticked closer and closer. “10, 9, 8” Remus started to count as the time came upon them. Roman joined quickly, “7, 6, 5, 4.” “3.” “2.” “1.”
They watched as two words drew themselves onto Remus’s wrist: “Um, wow.” The twins blinked at the words for a minute, until Roman broke the silence, “nice going, doofus, you’re going to weird out your soulmate immediately.” “You don’t know that! Maybe it's a good ‘um, wow,’” Remus protested. “How would that be good? ‘Um, wow, you’re so handsome, ooooh,’” Roman made a mocking kissy-face and was promptly knocked over by another projectile pillow. He laughed, “face it, you’re a weirdo, ‘um, wow’ is not a good thing.” The door swung open with a whoosh and their mother stood there, staring at them. Roman covered the tablet with a pillow to hide the stolen device, and Remus scrambled off of the bunk. “I told you boys NOT to stay up like this,” Carla snapped. Her hair was up in curlers and she had hastily pulled a bathrobe over her pajamas. “But, Mama, our soulmates!” Roman whined. “Yeah, I got my words,” Remus waved his arm around even though the light was too dim for their mother to read the words and she was too tired to humor them. “That’s nice, Remus, but I told you, Papa and I have to work tomorrow, you can’t be keeping us up like this, I told you we’d look at your words in the morning,” she rubbed her eyes, still bleary from the sleep she wanted desperately to return to. “But it is morning!” Roman cried indignantly. Carla fixed her son with a pointed glare and he looked down and climbed under his sheets. Carla sighed, “thank you. Now, you can tell me what your words are in the morning when Papa is awake, but right now I need you, boys, to go to sleep, okay?” “Okay, Mama,” the twins replied in unison. Remus climbed back up to his bunk and got under his covers. Carla nodded and departed the room for her own, her slippers making light scuff sounds down the hall. As soon as the door clicked closed at the end of the hall, Remus poked his head over the edge of his bunk and looked down at his twin, “how much time is left?” he whispered. Roman uncovered the tablet and woke the screen, “ten minutes,” he whispered back. The next ten minutes crawled by painfully slow. Roman lost track of whatever his brother was saying as his thoughts turned to what his words would be. He was pulled out of his trance when Remus broke his silence to ask “how long?” again. This time, when Roman woke the tablet, he saw that it was 3:29:22, and he became overwhelmed by the fact that there was less than a minute left. He reported to his twin and went back to staring intently at the digital clock. Each second felt like an eternity, but they dragged him eagerly forward until- The grandfather clock down the hall chimed the half-hour, and Roman tugged his pajama sleeve down excitedly and turned the flashlight onto his wrist. There a beat of silence until, “so? What does it say?” Remus asked eagerly. Roman sighed, “it says ‘hello.’” Remus stayed quiet for a second, “that’s going to be hard to find,” he offered. Roman collapsed back into his pillow. “Well, I’m going to sleep. Night, bro,” Remus mumbled from above. “Night,” Roman murmured. He looked at the singular word again and switched off the flashlight. “Hello” was one of, if not the most common soulmark in the world, because it was the most common greeting, regardless of language. At least there was that, Roman considered, his soulmate probably spoke English. But that wasn’t helpful. Remus was right, it was going to be hard to find his soulmate. Roman sighed and turned over onto his side. Okay, thought Roman, then I’ll just have to get creative.
It was common practice to try to use unique and specific greetings when meeting someone for the first time to cheat destiny and ensure an easier time finding their soulmate, but with as common a phrase as “hello”, Roman had to scrap all of his fantasies of grand romantic gestures and fairy tale meetings in favor of a way to guarantee his soulmate would recognize him. The plan was simple, if he was talking first to someone new, he stated his name first and foremost. Anyone he approached first, he greeted with “my name is Roman, nice to meet you.” The part where he got creative was with anyone who approached him first by saying “hello.” “Hello!” chirped his friendly new classmate in sixth grade. “If you were an insect, how long would it take you to die?” Roman asked immediately. The girl stared at him before replying shyly, “I don’t… know?” “Darn.” He always made sure to explain his tactic after using it to avoid further alienating new acquaintances. And thus he continued this way with every new person he met, always with a new and random question.
“Hello.” “If you could time travel, who would you meet?” “…Abraham Lincoln.” “Okay.”
“Hello.” “If you could make a new type of snowman that wasn’t made of snow, what would it be made of?” “Uh. Oranges?” “Cool.”
“Hello.” “If a bat flew into your house speaking with the voice of a cartoon, but claiming to be your best friend, what would you do?” “…What?”
Sophomore year, Roman and Remus were fifteen years old. Remus had already met his soulmate, Janus, and naturally, “um, wow” had been a response to Remus weirding him out, in addition to the realization that Remus was his soulmate. Roman, on the other hand was still trying to find his soulmate with random questions, but to no avail. The second semester had begun and Roman’s physics class was changing seats. Roman collapsed into his new spot next to a boy he knew to be Patton, but with whom he had not actually talked yet. Patton was wearing a blue t-shirt with a repeating cat pattern across it. His honey-brown hair was lightly curled, and a pair of round glasses were balanced on his freckle-covered nose. He smiled warmly at Roman. The teacher finished giving his instructions and let the class go to meet their new partners and get to work on their assignments. And thus the cycle began anew. Patton turned to Roman with a grin, “hello!” Roman huffed slightly as he quickly summoned a new question, “what’s your favorite musical?” he asked in lieu of a real greeting. Patton stared at Roman for a beat before raising a hand to his chin thoughtfully, and Roman knew that the boy probably didn’t have his question on his wrist. “Mamma Mia,” he answered finally. “ABBA. Good choice,” Roman chuckled. Patton giggled back, “Why do you ask anyway?” Roman showed Patton his wrist, and he nodded wonderingly, “I get it, you’re trying to have a unique greeting, because yours is so common.” “Bingo,” Roman said, slightly relieved that he didn’t have to explain it all again. “I’m guessing you don’t have my phrase, right?” Patton’s hair bounced as he shook his head. He presented his own wrist, marked with the word “Salutations” in unusually crisp font. “Ooh, you have a fancy soulmate,” Roman said, “that, or they’re a nerd. I’ve never seen such a professional-looking font.” “Me neither,” Patton giggled again. “At least ‘salutations’ isn’t a very frequently used greeting.” Roman nodded, “yes, a nerd like that will be easy to spot,” Roman joked. “I’m Roman by the way,” he said, suddenly unsure if Patton knew who he was or not. “Patton!” he replied with a quirk of his head and a broad smile. “Nice to meet you,” he was aware of the teacher surveying the class to see who was working and quickly added, “maybe we should get started.” Patton nodded and they set to work reading instructions and becoming friends.
Half-way through the first semester of senior year, Patton introduced Roman to his recently discovered soulmate, Logan. Upon meeting him, Roman remarked that he was exactly the kind of nerd he had expected when he had seen Patton’s “salutations” soulmark. He then lamented that he was once again left surrounded with people who had soulmates when he didn’t, at which point Logan informed his that “statistically speaking, most people meet their soulmates in their twenties or thirties.” “Thanks, pocket-protector, but that’s barely comforting. I have the most common phrase in the English language,” Roman complained. “Actually, according to most studies performed in the last 20 years, the most common phrase currently is ‘hi,’” Logan corrected him with a push of his glasses. Roman stared at him in disbelief and Patton giggled at his side.
“I’m telling you Roman, he’s actually really nice,” Patton assured him as they walked down the path towards Roman’s house. Both boys were bundled up in coats, their hands stuffed firmly in pockets to protect against the biting winter wind. Roman had a Christmas party coming up in a few days, and Patton was trying to convince him to invite the fairly anti-social kid who never got of his emo phase, Virgil. In all honesty, Roman didn’t care if Virgil came or not, plenty of Remus’s friends, who he didn’t know, were going, but Patton was determined to make Roman and Virgil friends, and as it was, Roman didn’t think he had anything in common with the emo. “I’m sure he is, Pat, but…” he hesitated, searching for some way to appease his friend without giving in. “But what?” Patton pressed, meanwhile physically pressing against his shoulder. “But you get along with everyone, and everyone loves you. You can find something in common with anyone no matter what,” Roman stalled. Patton’s eyes bore into him. “I on the other hand, don’t think I have anything in common with Virgil. I mean, he’s all surly and dark, and I’m a theater kid straight out of High School Musical,” he gestured grandly before his hand quickly retreated to the warmth of his pocket again. “Have you ever even talked to the guy?” “Well, no, but-” “Then how do you know you have nothing in common?” Patton’s voice lilted. He always gave off the vibe of a dad trying to get his child to try a new food or something. Roman shot him a side-eyed look, and Patton continued, “you like Disney, right? Well, it just so happens Virgil is into Disney, too! See? There is something you have in common?” “Yeah, sure, but… I mean, who doesn’t like Disney?” Patton just shrugged. Roman was being stubborn, but Patton knew he’d practically won. “All I ask is you let me introduce you to him at the party, okay? Just let him say hello. You can even ask him one of your weird questions.” Patton waved a gloved hand vaguely. Roman was suddenly aware that he seemed to know something Roman didn’t, but he ignored the feeling in favor of a childish groan. “Fine, you can bring him to party and introduce him to me,” defeat dripped from his voice, and Patton clapped in delight and cheered as they arrived on the doorstep of the house.
Some pop rendition of Jingle Bells played through the house as Roman made his way to the snack table. The table was draped with a festive table cloth covered in reindeer and sleighs, and it featured an impressive array of cookies and cupcakes and other holiday-themed treats. Most claimed that Roman and Remus overdid the party thing, but in truth it was mostly Roman. Classmates and friends milled around dancing, eating, and chatting happily. Roman picked out a tree-shaped cookie that he had made and started to make his way into the living room when he heard someone call his name. Roman turned to see Patton dragging a boy toward him, a broad grin decorated his face and, as usual, outshone the blinking Christmas light necklace he was wearing. They met just to the side of the entryway into the living room. “I know you said you hadn’t met yet, so Roman, this is Virgil,” he gestured to the boy standing next to him. His dyed purple bangs draped just down to his eyes, and he was wearing a dark purple sweater in place of his usual patchwork hoodie. Virgil watched Patton carefully, only looking at Roman when introduced by name. Virgil gave a wave so slight, Roman would have missed it if it was any smaller. His low voice was soft, and yet carried easily over the din of the party, “hello.” “Have you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall?” Roman said. His response was automatic. Replying to “hello” with a question had become an unconscious habit after doing it for so many years. Virgil stared. That was a standard reaction to Roman, he had hardly registered the question that had come out of his mouth. Patton’s further widening smile, however, was not a standard reaction. Roman then realized that Virgil’s stare was different from others as well. His gray eyes shone with shock instead of the confusion Roman was accustomed to. Suddenly becoming uncomfortable with the silence, he said “… What?” “… I’ve always wanted to ask, and I mean this sincerely, what the fuck kind of greeting is that” Virgil said finally as he started to tug down his sleeve, revealing the words on his wrist. Roman’s face lit up with astonishment and excitement. “No, I’ve never wanted to be a fly on the wall, but thanks to you, I’ve thought about it bordering on obsessively for almost eight years.” Roman finally broke out of his trance. “Oh my god, I can’t believe it worked,” he exclaimed as Virgil stared quizzically at him. Roman showed him his own wrist and explained the logic behind his seemingly random question. Suddenly a thought occurred to him, and he whirled on Patton. “You knew about this, didn’t you?” He shrugged innocently. “I knew that Virgil had a weird question on his wrist and that you have a tendency to ask such questions,” He grinned slyly, “I couldn’t be certain, but it was a pretty fair bet.” “You’re a mad genius,” Virgil cocked his head at Patton. Patton smiled brightly again, “I don’t know what you mean, kiddo, I’m just helping out where I can.” Roman shook his head and laughed, “alright, Pat, I’m sorry I ever doubted you.” “That’s fine, Roman,” Patton clapped him on the shoulder, “I’ve got to go find Logan, so you guys get to know each other,” Patton waved as he stepped away. Roman and Virgil turned to face one another and stared at each other in silence for a few moments. Roman wracked his brain for what to do next, and all he could come up with was, “So… Disney?”

“Drake, seriously?”
Tumblr media
“Ooooh fuck. Fuck, this is bad, fuck.” Jason exclaimed, before whispering to himself “I gotta find a way of blaming this on Red Robin, before Batman kills me.” Then it dawned on him “Oh my God he’ll kill me. Kill me!”
Or: Dick gets shot and everyone is freaking out. Inspired by that first car chase scene in 6 underground, where Two has been shot and everything is chaotic.
Warnings: Mentions of injuries, pain and blood. Nothing too graphic, I promise.
Word count: 1532
Notes: So I have a lot of things that I should be doing, but instead of doing those things, I'm back on my bullshit again. I wrote this because I ramdomly remembered my mom laughing about how that scene is ridiculous, because you don't remove a bullet in a situation like that, you just stop the bleeding. Anyways, I thought it'd fill that slot in the bingo card pretty well. I hope you guys like it!

“Ooooh fuck. Fuck, this is bad, fuck.” Jason exclaimed, before whispering to himself “I gotta find a way of blaming this on Red Robin, before Batman kills me.” Then it dawned on him “Oh my God he’ll kill me. Kill me!”
“’s not thaaaat bad.” Dick looked down at the bullet wound in his shoulder.
“This is awful Nightwing, what the fuck are you talking about? You’ve been shot! You’re allowed to panic!”
“Shut up, both of you!” Damian complained “He won’t panic because he’s in shock, and let’s keep it that way.” He scowled at Jason, who was in the front seat “Nightwing, you’re bleeding, but don’t panic, I need you to cooperate with me.”
“I’m bleeding?!” Dick shouted “What the fuck happened?!”
“Way to go Damian.” Tim interviened.
“Fucking drive, Drake.” He turned to Duke, sitting next to them, looking more panicked than usual, and handed him his Robin cape “Here. Put pressure on his shoulder. He will scream. Keep pressing it.” Duke nodded “Listen,” He adressed his oldest brother “You got shot on your right shoulder and passed out after falling and hitting your head on the concrete. You’re awake now, let’s keep it that way.”
Dick shrieked in pain.
“I don’t think you have to worry about me sleeping! Fuck!” He kicked the driver’s seat involuntarily.
“Don’t fucking do that!” Tim yelled.
“Don’t yell at him, he’s in pain!” Jason yelled back.
“Do you fucking want me to crash this fucking car Jason?! Because I will crash this fucking car!”
“Don’t crash the car! It isn’t even ours!” Duke shouted from the back seat. He looked down at the wounded hero “I am so sorry about this.”
“It’s fine-AH!” He said through gritted teeth.
“I’m sure you’ve been through worse.” Damian said, pulling out whatever med equipment he had in his belt.
“Doesn’t make this any easier!” He answered “Fuck!”
“Sorry...”
“Don’t apologize, you’re keeping him alive!” Damian growled back. A shot hit the car, shattering the break lights “Fuck, they’re chasing us! I’ll have to give you stitches here and now Dick. Thomas, is he still bleeding?”
“What?!” All of them yelled.
“Shut up, I can do it! Thomas, answer me damnit!”
“A little, yes, but it’s definetly less.”
Another bullet went through the car, shattering the windshield. Damian groaned.
“Can one of the heroes in the car full of heroes do something about the guys shooting at us!?”
“Stop yelling I’m trying to drive!”
“You can’t drive if you’re dead!” Damian shouted “Red Hood, will you please get out of your fucking ass?!”
“I would, but you wouldn’t like what I’ll do!”
“I don’t care Todd, fucking do something! Thomas, move your hand, I need to stitch him up now!” The boy cut Dick’s uniform, exposing more skin.
“Fine!” Jason stuck his upper body out through the window and shot at the cars chasing them, then pulled himself back in the car “There’s too many, I can’t take them all out alone, you’re gonna have to lose them!”
“Thanks for the fucking tip, Jackass! What do you think I’ve been doing all this fucking time?!” Tim yelled, gripping the steering wheel.
“Stop yelling, I’m trying to fix him!” Damian chastised the duo. Dick screamed. Another bullet zoomed past them.
“Oh my God, I don’t wanna die!” Duke exclaimed.
“Shut up! I’m trying to do a decent suture here! You’re not the one in mortal danger!”
“Oh my God, am I in mortal danger?!” Dick shouted out.
“No!” Damian shouted back “Nobody dies under my watch!”
“Whoah, won’t you take the bullet out?” Jason asked, looking to the backseat over his shoulder. Damian and Tim looked at him as if he was the most disgusting being they had ever laid eyes on.
“Do you actively want your brother to die, Todd?!” He shouted “I’m trying to keep him from bleeding out! The bullet stays in!”
“But won’t it-.”
“It stays in!” Tim and Damian yelled at the same time.
“Fine! I just wanted to help!” He put his hands up.
Dick groaned in pain and punched the car roof.
“If you want to help then be quiet!” Another bullet flew by. They hit a speed bump, and Damian’s hand faltered on the needle, hurting Dick’s skin unnecesarily “Drake, seriously?!”
“I’m trying to stop us from getting killed!” He shouted back “I don’t have the luxury of slowing down for fucking speed bumps at the moment!”
“You’re a lousy driver!”
“You’re a fucking brat!”
“Stop arguing while I’m bleeding to death!”
“You’re not going to die!” Both of them shouted back at Dick.
“Okay, that’s twice in less than twenty minutes.” Duke said “It’s freaking me out.”
“Shut up!” Tim and Damian once again shouted simultaneously.
“Three. So fucked up...” He whispered under his breath.
“Duke, not now.” Dick said, grinding his teeth “Damian don’t you have any painkillers on you?”
“I found some ibuprofen in the glove box. It’s not much but...” Jason said, shaking a medicine box in front of them.
“Oh my God, so now we’re also stealing someone’s meds? Isn’t the car bad enough?” Duke asked.
“Seriously Duke, not now.” Dick said again. Damian reached for the box, shoving three pills in his brother’s mouth.
“Chew them, it speeds up the effects. I hope it helps.” Damian said.
“This is soooo fucked up...” He whispered one more time.
“Shut it, Thomas!” Damian growled, going back to the sutures “I’m almost done.”
“Oh, wait.” Jason said, tapping through his jacket “I have a grenade.”
The car was silent for a moment, before all of them simultaneously screamed some variation of ‘Why didn’t you think of this sooner?’.
“Shut up! I perform poorly under stress!”
“We were trained to perform under stress!” Dick shouted.
“You’re a moron!” Damian screamed.
“That’s why you fucking died!” Tim yelled.
“Low blow, asshat!” Jason pointed at him.
“Please, just throw the grenade!” Duke pleaded.
“Fine!” The Red Hood tossed it at the cars behind them, and the explosions took most of them out, but two cars were still chasing them by the time Damian was done with Dick’s sutures.
“I’m done. Tim stop the car we can handle them.” He said “Signal, I need you to stay back with Nightwing.”
“I’m fine, I can defend myself.” He picked up one of his escrima sticks.
“Fine. But if you tear open those sutures, I’m sticking my finger in the wound out of sheer spite.” He shoved his index finger at his face before kicking open the car door.
...
Bruce sighed.
“I’m gonna need you to walk me through this again.” He pinched the bridge of his nose “You acquired the flashdrive, destroyed the information, started the self destruction count down on their base, and then...” He waited for an answer yet he got four; Jason, Tim, Duke and Damian talked at the same time “Wait!” He yelled, stopping them “Jason. Go.”
“Dick got shot. It was Tim’s fault.”
“How was it my fault? You were the one who set off their alarm system!”
“You set off their alarm system?” Bruce asked, eyes wide with disbelief.
“That’s not the whole story!”
“Then what is the whole story?” He crossed his arms.
“Devilspawn was distracting me.”
“Shut up, Todd. Don’t blame your incompetence on me.”
“You were trying to take the flashdrive away from me!” Jason threw his hands up “Of course I’d trip into their lasers!”
“You wanted to shove it down your pants!” Damian protested.
“Duh? No one would try to get them there.”
“So let me see if I’m getting this...” Bruce interrupted “Jason activated their alarm system after falling on top of their laser sensors because Damian was trying to stop him from putting a flashdrive in his pants?”
“Yes.”
“Correct.”
“Pretty much.”
“He’d shove it into his underwear, father.”
Bruce sighed.
“And why did Dick get shot?”
“They had guns.” Jason said.
“Yes, I understand that.” Bruce stared at him “Why was he in the crossfire?”
“The lights turned off, I couldn’t see where the shooters would be to warn them.” Duke said.
“I see. But, please, enlighten me on the reason why you threw a hand grenade on the middle of the busiest avenue in Gotham.”
“Did you want us to die?!” Tim blurted out “There were over ten cars chasing us, and Dick was bleeding out on the back seat! We should’ve done it earlier.”
“We would have done it earlier,” Damian glared at Jason “If someone wasn’t completly incompetent.”
“I’m gonna strangle you, you little rat.” He muttered.
“Try it, Todd.” The boy pulled out his sword. Jason grabbed his guns. Duke jumped in front of them.
“Okay, okay, I think we’re getting a little too heated.” He said “Look, at least everyone is alive, right? And there were some major damages to the city’s infraestructure, but no civilians were actually killed in the explosion, since they had mostly cleared out the avenue after the chase started.” He had his hands up, trying to keep the peace “I think that’s a win.”
Bruce turned around, meeting Cass, who was eating some colorful candy behind him.
“You’re sending me next time?”
“I’m sending you next time.”

The Itty-Bitty Babysitting Brigade
Title: The Itty-Bitty Babysitting Brigade Characters: Alpha! Bucky Barnes x Omega!F-Reader, Assorted Avengers Summary: A team of experts are ready to help Bucky with the twins. Warnings: fluffity fluffy fluff.  A bad language word. Word count: approx. 2,400 A/N: This merry little band wouldn’t let me rest until I snuck a peak at how they do with the new pups! You don’t have to read part 1 & part 2, but you should.
A/N 2: a very big fluffy thank you to my 2 beta’s, @thesassywallflower and @pinknerdpanda. You ladies are super-fab - bless you for putting up with my text onslaughts!
This is a work of fiction based upon characters owned by the MCU. My work is not to be published elsewhere without my written permission.
Tumblr media
Bucky Barnes was a reasonable man. Before you and the twins darkened the apartment doorway on your first day home as a family, he’d created pup care schedules, matrices, and plans that would put Nick Fury to shame. The failure of the infants to follow said schedules, matrices, and plans gave him chest pains.
“Bucky, my love, it’s okay. They were all warm and cozy where it was dark and quieter. Here, it’s noisy and cold and bright. I’m sure they’re a little scared because everything’s so different. Crying is the only way they have to talk to us.” Then, you did it again - hand over his heart, blinking your tired but happy eyes up at him. “They’re so lucky to have a strong, brave daddy to help them feel safe.”
Bucky Barnes was a reasonable man. After eight days of carefully crafted pup care plans being shot straight to hell, the soldier went back to his roots - guerilla warfare. Having spent decades perfecting the art of surveillance, he quickly learned the twins’ little tells that gave away possible maneuvers. Ruth Natalia, for instance, went back to sleep if she just rubbed her eyes with her fist. Rubbing her face into the blanket - imminent nap ceasefire. If Joseph Steven had the hiccups for longer than 3 minutes 18 seconds - prompt conflict escalation. Ever the tactician, Bucky quickly adopted the jarhead motto of ‘improvise, adapt, and overcome’ that allowed him to anticipate and quickly intervene. A swift pacifier tucked into Ruth’s mouth bought him an average 6 minutes extra peace time. Swaying Joey side to side tucked in his arm like a football was always a successful diversion. It’s when they joined forces in joint engagement that left him with palpitations and shortness of breath.
Watching you made it easier. Motherhood looked damn good on you. Even if you were covered in spit up and the clothes from two days ago. You showed him the best swaddle techniques, encouraged him to be unafraid while burping them (“they won’t break, Bucky”), and filled his phone with photos of him and the pups.
Even though Bucky grumbled that it had only been a few weeks, your willing daycare back-up Wanda had to get back to missions. The night before you were supposed to resume daycare duties, the babies engaged in full scale attrition warfare, including deployment of the famous Pincer movement.
Simply put, they ganged up on their mama and daddy.
Bucky’s heart broke when you sagged to the floor between their bouncy seats where they both shrieked like they were being tortured, and cried right along with them. You had nursed, and rocked, and walked, and bounced, and bathed, and sung, and nursed and swaddled and unwrapped and walked and vacuumed and nursed and nothing. Was. WORKING.
“I don’t - I don’t k-know what to d-do!” you sobbed as you held pacifiers to their mouths. Your red-rimmed eyes shone garishly, skin pinched and pale from pure exhaustion. Your nursing top hung raggedly off one shoulder, and your loose pants were stained from dinner two nights before. Both his omega and his pups were in need before him, an expert warrior and master assassin. He felt like he was gonna throw up.
Bucky Barnes was a reasonable man. And an Avenger, dammit! His alpha snarled and snapped with anxiety - protect! Soothe! Fix! Kneeling down behind you, he wrapped you up in his arms, being careful to avoid your painful breasts, and purred into your neck. You and both babies paused in the moment; you quaked like a leaf against him as the pups snuffled, his calming scent of rosemary and sandalwood pacifying them for a moment. He didn’t know what the hell to do, so he did what any rational person would do. He lied.
“I know what to do. You’re going to go take a shower, and lie down and sleep. The babies and I are going downstairs to be with the daycare pups.”
Your lack of protest said more than any words as you wiped your nose on your sleeve. “C-can I just lie down here?” you croaked out pitifully. Bucky wavered for an instant before putting just enough alpha in his voice to get you moving.
“No, doll, you’ll wake up all sore. Go shower, go sleep.”
Bucky Barnes was a reasonable man. The fact that he took enough equipment downstairs to satisfy a doomsday prepper wasn’t noteworthy in the slightest. The pups’ reactions, however, was. Parents were abandoned without a backward glance as they ran pell mell towards the occupied bouncy seat/swing contraptions.
“WAIT!” Heidi/Dimples the omega bellowed, freezing Chad/Lightning Bolt and Jeremy/Steve in their tracks. “Sanitize! Who knows what germs you’ve picked up out there!” she ordered, swiping the pump bottle and doling out globs while Bucky hurriedly took care of sign in. Bucky would later chuckle with you at the militant little omega refusing access to the babies until every pup had been liberally sanitized. The ooo’s and aaa’s, soft touches, and light distracted the babies as Bucky scrambled to get morning snack lined up. Then…
“Look at that! Baby Joey has the hiccups!” giggled Micah/Iron Hulk.
Shit.
“Mr. Barnes, sir? Ruthie keeps rubbing her face in her blankie,” Heidi advised.
Dammit.
Servings of apple juice globbed into sippy cups with no attention to equal servings as Bucky’s heart rate rose along with the volume of the twins’ fussing. When Ruth gave one piercing cry, Bucky ripped open two packs of graham crackers and dropped them on the table, ignoring the crumbling result as he sprinted back to the babies. Elaine/Warrior Princess had already figured out the Stark tech on the swings, but the smooth movements weren’t doing anything to mollify them. Joey joined in his sister’s cries, both little faces screwing up as they hollered. Seven pairs of pup eyes turned to look at Bucky expectantly.
Bucky Barnes was a reasonable man. The fact that he felt like vomiting was irrelevant.
“Hungry. Maybe they’re hungry,” he said more to himself as he stumbled to plug in the bottle warmer.
“Mmmm, I dunno. They don’t sound hungry,” Chad pondered, hands on his hips.
“How do you know? They’re still fresh out of the wrapper, they don’t know how to cry different.”
Chad scoffed at Elaine. “Because my mama is a baby-makin’ machine, that’s why! She says so all the time, and my dad’s sleeping on the couch till he gets some kinda appointment made. I got two little brothers and one little sister at home.”
Sera studied Ruthi seriously, bobbing along with the baby as she scrutinized. “He’s right, they’re not hungry. See? She’s just lonely.”
Bucky tried not to hyperventilate as he fished out two bottles of breast milk, bobbling one until he slammed it into the warmer. Distantly he saw the pups gather in closer to the babies, heard the murmur of certainty in the ‘ooooh, I see!’ that chattered through the room. While mashing buttons, he chanced a look over his shoulder when Micah declared,
“I know what to do!” But a mechanical beep of annoyance from the warmer took his attention and sent his pulse hammering in rhythm with the babies’ cries. Failure loomed over him like a towering tidal wave, his throat sticky with stress and hyperventilation. As his vision started to turn white at the edges, Bucky didn’t notice the activity behind him: Micah explaining the plan, Elaine leading Jeremy and Sera to move the big blue chair, Natalie running to the art supplies, and Chad and Heidi leaning over the babies.
Little hands grabbing at his arms knocked Bucky off his pins, the second bottle clattering from his hand. He almost took the blue chair down with him when Elaine and Jeremy tugged him into it, wooden feet groaning an inch or two across the floor in protest. Sera tossed the blankets previously covering the twins across his legs. Natalie appeared at his right, wobbling on a step stool and brandishing a pair of rounded safety scissors while Chad and Heidi clutched the screaming babies against their bodies.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Barnes! This won’t hurt a bit!”
Bucky Barnes was a reasonable man. The fact that there are now ten holes ripped into the arms of the big blue chair is immaterial.
Before Bucky could even free up a brain cell to respond, Micah grabbed the left side of his tshirt and pulled it taut, and Natalie sliced a cut from nipple to nipple like she ninja’d her way through toddler tap dance class. Micah then yanked the gap wide, and Chad and Heidi plunked the babies against his bare chest.
“There!” Micah and Chad chimed out victoriously. Bucky didn’t know what ‘there’ was. Or where. He was thoroughly occupied with maneuvering the two squalling, still very tiny babies against him.
“Son of a bitch!” he ground out.
“MIS-ter Barnes! You can’t use bad language words!” Heidi clapped her hands over the closest baby’s ears, glaring ferociously at him. Deaf to her scolding, Bucky yelped when Ruth’s face slid into his armpit and Joey slipped head-first towards the side.  Sighing with exasperation, Chad climbed up to the left arm and clapped his hands on Bucky’s face.
“Listen. Calm down. You’re giving off all your bad alpha smells and freakin’ ‘em out!”
“Deep breaths, Mr. Barnes!” The little pups started coaching the Avenger, breathing in and out exaggeratedly until he followed their lead. Gradually, he noticed the scent of gunsmoke choking the air, causing more than one wrinkled pup nose. He forced himself to relax, his left arm chinking slightly as the plates shifted.
“I don’t know what to do,” he whispered to himself. Elaine’s head bonked him on the chin as she tugged Joey back into place, the baby flopping like a bobblehead before she climbed down to sit on the floor.
“Nobody knows what to do with kids, Mr. Barnes.”
Finally manuevering Ruth into place, Bucky tried to pay attention. “Oh, yeah?”
“Yup. My mama tells us all the time. ‘What the hell am I gonna do with you?’” Elaine quoted solemnly.
Jeremy nodded in agreement. “My daddy says parenthood is the toughest hood he’s ever been in. But I don’t know about that ‘cuz I never see him wear a hood, he only wears a ball cap.”
Both babies now lay cautiously secured in his hold. Bucky couldn’t take his eyes off them as they still fussed and grizzled unhappily.
“Now what?”
Chad joined the little band crisscrossed-applesauced in front of Bucky. “The two p’s.” The little guy nodded as if to tell him to get busy. Like he wasn’t speaking in a foreign language at all.
“Which two p’s?”
Rolling his eyes and sharing a chagrined look with Elaine, Chad answered, “purr and pat. Bust out that legit purr and pat ‘em on their little hineys.”
Bucky swallowed hard around the still-pounding pulse in his throat and tried to purr; the sound started croakily at best. But as his alpha settled into the calming action, Bucky felt his muscles relax a hair. His eyes closed as he let himself just be in the moment - the tip-tup dance of their heartbeats against his thrumming warm beneath them, the gentle herby lavender and spiced vanilla of their scents gradually lifting to thread with his rosemary and sandalwood. And gradually realized he nor the babies seemed about to immediately explode.
When he opened his eyes, he blinked at the bright grins waiting for him.
“Good job, Mr. Barnes!” Heidi crowed, clapping happily. Micah offered him a double thumbs up to go with Sera’s chef’s kiss, while the others offered him proud, smiling nods.
“Just need to figure out the pat, and you got this!” Chad encouraged. “They just needed that skin to skin time.”
Jeremy was nodding vehemently. “I helped my mom with that when she was conzausted.”
“What’s conzausted?” Natalie wanted to know.
“It’s when my mom gets really tired.”
“Oh. My dad must get conzausted, too. He says having all us kids is like having a blender with no lid.”
Sera perked up, eyes wide with an epiphany. “That must be why my mom cleans all the time!”
Bucky felt one of his calf muscles cramp up, and tried to relax a little more. Ruth and Joey dozed, happily nuzzling round cheeks and tiny noses into his warmth. Their sleepy little sounds tugged a half-smile onto his face. When Bucky stole his gaze to the daycare pups, Chad gave him a pleased head bob. Unbelievably relieved pride sent more calm into his belly, and Bucky let himself relax even more as the children’s candy-coated happy scents filled him. They whispered and murmured in hushed tones, eager to help with their newest friends and their Sergeant Alpha.
Suddenly, Steve came somersaulting shield first in the craft room window, glass shattering and scattering. Sam splintered open the front door to the tune of pups screaming - all nine of them as the babies were yanked from their nap. Weapons drawn, they both scrambled around the room.
“Bucky! I got your 911 text. Where’s the threat?”
Bucky’s omega is a reasonable woman. The fact that she nailed Sam with a baseball bat was blown entirely out of proportion. The other fact that she kicked Steve in the balls so hard he cried was not.
An hour later, the daycare pups were in the upstairs living quarters, happily munching on popcorn to go with an impromptu ‘Phineas and Ferb’ marathon. Nat and Clint had carted away the incapacitated Captain and Falcon while Tony’s bots worked on door and window replacement. Clint nearly required medical attention himself when he laughed so hard at the ‘conzausted’ Mrs. Barnes’ terrified omega rampage that he fell off the porch. Bucky had taken your scolding shamefacedly, although he truly had no memory of sending the text. Abject panic will do that to you.
As he cuddled the calmed and re-sleeping babies against his bare chest, his omega dozing beside him on the coach, and a pile of pups and pillows before him, Bucky knew he could do this.
He knew they could do this. Even without schedules, matrices, and schedules.

So as a prompt if you’re up for it: Rick fucking Morty while Beth is on the phone to him after she called him. Or he accidentally calls her and she’s on the other end of the phone listening to them fuck. :) 😂
Ooooh thank you for the wonderful prompt, Ghosty!  I took a few liberties with it. I hope you don't mind the unusual format XD enjoy!
Rest of ficlet under the cut:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
You have one (1) new voicemail message. Press one to play.
-Beeeeeep-
Rick:  (whispering) ... so keep it quiet, Morty, o-o-or else you can bet your ass that there won't be a repeat of this tomorrow. I doOOUUn't  even know why Beth even wants me to talk— t-to call her.
Morty: (groaning)
Rick:  (whispering) Making calls. Psh. I-I-It's a relic of a bygone era, if you ask me. Why would anyone want to call when texting is so much easier? I-it eliminates all the need for excruciatingly dull social interactions, l-l-like, I don't know, calling? W-why would she even want to—
Morty: M-m-maybe she just wants to check that y-you're not exposing me to any bad influences? Y'know, like being a good mother for once?
[Sounds suspiciously like pillows being shoved over a teenager's face]
Rick: What did I just tell you? Quiet!
Morty: (unintelligible)
Rick: What?
Morty: (muffled voice) My phone. I-I-It's recording us. Say something.
[Rustling noises]
Rick: Wait. Recording—?
Morty: Y-you called mom right? It went straight to voicemail?
Rick: Oh, fuuuuck— uh... hi, sweetie! It's your dad. I'm just calling to tell you about tonight.
Morty: It's me a-and Rick! He— he wants to say we can't go to dinner. Yeah.
Rick: We can't make it.
Morty: Y-y-yep. We can't. Because of... uh...
Rick: ... reasons. Our adventure's gonna run a—UUUURP— a bit late, so we might not be back until after. Don't  worry, we'll be home before midnight.
Morty: A-and I've done all my homework!
Rick: Morty's finished with his homework. So just go ahead and... and have dinner without us. Don't worry, we, uh, Morty's got enough to eat over here.
Morty: (snickers)
Rick: Y-y-you and your preteen humor. Grow up, Morty.
Morty: Fuck off, Rick. Give me that.
[Rustling noises]
Rick: That's  enough, we can hang up—
Morty: Hey mom, everything's okay. Rick isn't  being a dick to me. Yet.
Rick: M-m-morty let me handle —
Morty: You know what, scratch that. He's —he's a— he's being a complete asshole, but nothing to worry about, I'm safe!
Rick: Morty!
[Grunts and growls emanating from one irritated old man and one annoyed adolescent]
Morty: W-w-wait, I still have something to say!
Rick:  God, Morty, give it to me. She's heard everything she needs—
[Grunting]
[Loud clatter]
Morty: Ooh geez, that was my phone!
Rick: Now y-you've  done it, Morty. I-I told you your clumsy ass has to sit still while I was talking! Fuuuu— here. Take your useless phone back and keep it. I'll just use mine to—UUURP— give Beth the stupid call she wants.
Morty: (mumbling) I bought this with my allowance...
Rick:  For fuck's sake— Morty, I-I-I can fix your phone in ten seconds! But you know what's  worse? Now I haOOOUUGHve to go back to the ship to get my phone. Thanks for wasting the precious two minutes I have to spend portalling to the ship when I could've used them on something more productive. Like, maybe, helping you finish? Good luck with that.
Morty: W-w-wait, what?
Rick: Y-you heard me, Morty. Have fun jerking off y-your— your tiny little sad sausage all alone.
Morty: What the fu— wait!
[Rustling noises]
Morty: Wait, Rick! Rick!!
Rick: What?
Morty: D-don't leave me like this! I don't want to get blue-balled. Not after last time!
Rick: Too bad. My phone—
Morty: I'll help you. I-I-I'll— I'll take responsibility for it. If mom asks, I-I'm the one who wanted to stay late. I'll cover for you.
[Silence]
Morty: Just don't  leave. Please. Rick, I can't...
[Short silence]
Rick: Fine. I'll do it. But just because you loOOOUUk damn pitiful right now. God. Have some dignity, Morty.
Morty: Yes! Thanks, Ri— HOOOOOOH what are you doing?!?
Rick: Y-y-you didn't  think I'm going to go back to jerking you off, did you Morty? I expect some repayment for fixing that sorry excuse of a phone for you.
Morty: What? But I'll— I'm already covering for you! You said you'd help me get off! How is a finger up my butt going to— mmmffff!!!
[Wet smacking sounds]
Morty: Mmmmm—
[Sounds of wrapper crinkling, followed by a mechanical whirring noise]
Rick: Y-you really talk too much.
Morty: Wait— oooooh geez—
[Whirring noises resume, but strangely muted]
Rick: Better?
Morty: (groaning)
Rick: I bought this off the Rick in dimension F9. He's a-a... a real kinky bastard. You won't  believe what he's  got dooOOOUUUwn in his garage, Morty. I-I-I wouldn't even touch half of what was in there. This is one of his tamer ones. How's the vibration? Do you want it stronger? Do you need me to reconfigure the shape?
Morty: (unintelligible groaning)
Rick: Wow. You really are a bitch, Morty. But you're MY bitch.
Morty: Hoooo... fuck...
Rick: Clench up more tightly, M-morty, it's coated in a powder that's  supposed to dull any painful sensations. Trust me, y-you're going to need it later.
Morty: P-pain?
Rick: Y-y-you really want me sticking my cock up your virgin asshole without any prepping? Your call.
Morty: (hoarse voice) Who said anything about—
Rick: You. Didn't  y-y-you say you wanted to fuck?
Morty: W-w-well, I, uh...
Rick: Y-y-you meant the other way around, didn't  you? A-a-and what made you think I was going to let your unexperienced dick anywhere near my UUURP poor ass? Don't  you think you need some lessons from the master first?
Morty: But...
Rick: I'm already done stretching you out. Just shut up and lie still.
[Whirring noises cease]
[Short silence]
Rick: (staggered grunting)
Morty: Ooh— Oh my god—
Rick: Oh, God. You're tight, Morty. Fuck—
[Creaking noise]
Morty: Nnnghh—
Rick: Oh yeah. Just like that, baby.
Morty: Y-you're  fucking huge!
Rick: Thanks.
Morty: Th-th-that wasn't a compliment you—
[Creaking noises resume]
Morty: Hooooh geez! Ohhh— Oh my god!
Rick: (laughs)
[Creaking noises quicken]
Rick: Ya like that, bitch?
Morty: (moaning)
Rick: I'm not hearing anything.
Morty: (moaning) Ugh... yes, fuck yes, Rick! Faste— OH GEEZ!
Rick: What is it this time?
Morty: Do that again, FUCK—
Rick: Wow. Y-you like it that way, huh?
[Rustling followed by more creaking noises]
Rick: Better?
Morty: (moaning)
Rick: Geez, you're easy to please.
[Harsh slapping sound]
Morty: Hooooohh...
Rick: Knew you'd like that, M-morty, you kinky son of a bitch. Y-y-you know, I should introduce you to F9 Rick sometime. YoOOUU might get along with him and we can get a discount when we buy those toys of his. Ever— ever heard of a gimp mask, Morty?
Morty: (groaning) Piss off.
Rick: Aww, baby, don't be like that. After everything I've done for— wait. What was that?
[Short silence]
Morty: I-It's just my phone, Rick. Bet I just got a new text or something. Can we go back to what we were doing now?
Rick: Morty, y-y-you complete imbecile! I thought you dropped it? That means your phone's not broken!
Morty: Huh. But the screen's all black? What's  wrong with it then? I'll just—
Rick: NO! MORTY, DON'T PRESS ANYTHI—
Hockey Stan pt.1
Im a a dumbass and I deleted this, so here it is again
pairing: stan x reader
warnings: teasing, swearing, drugs, alcohol.
word count: 1.1k
enjoy babes!!
—————————————————————
“Wait what’s wrong with Bill?” You asked Richie as you got passed the blunt by Bev. “He literally fucked every single girl, I heard there was this one girl who he fucked in the ass and the the tits.” Bev rolled her eyes, “Chee you do know it’s y/n right?” You slapped Bev “Bevvy!!” She shrugged and hit the blunt. “Holy shit you let Denbrough hit it from the back?! Damn you got balls dude. How was the titty fuck though?” You sighed “More for him not me, I just had to act like I enjoyed his dick in between my boobs.” Richie laughed so loud that you guys would probably get caught. You all started to pack up the weed and put on your backpacks.
 “Just stay away from the hockey team y/n they literally all suck dick, well Toby did suck me off once-“ Bev hit Rich upside the head, “Beep beep bitch.” He rolled his eyes and walked off to class with a wave. “Bev why would I fuck with the hockey team after I let Bill do that.” Bev shrugged “Be careful please, I gotta go to bio, see ya.” You decided to go to english today even though it was your least favorite class.
It was only because of the Stanley Uris, hockey team captain and Bill’s right hand man. He was such a dick to you and your friends. He hit on you a couple times and after you fucked Bill it only got worse. He’d always try to finger you in class or try to give you his number. One day he put it in his phone without knowledge, you didn’t block it only because he didn’t try to text you. You walked in to class 20 minutes late, the entire class looked at you. “Mrs, you are late again, see me after class.”
A mist of ‘oooohs’ were heard from across the room. “Oh shut the fuck up and bite me losers” You sat in your seat right next to Stan. You copied whatever you got from the board. Stan leaned over and whispered to you “Hey doll wanna-“ “No. I don’t want to do anything with you.” Stan rolled his eyes. “You let Bill-“ You rolled your eyes. “Listen Stan just because I got railed by big dick Bill doesn’t mean I’ll fuck you, shrimp dick.”
He leaned back in his seat, huffing out of anger. You smiled to yourself and kept taking notes on your assignment. After class you met with your teacher who simply said to be on time, you went to lunch and sat with your friends. There was Mike Hanlon, the quiet sweet mom friend. There was Eddie, the worrying friend, who always had a first aid kit. Richie, your best friend since diapers, he’s your neighbor and he’s a dumb bitch whore but you love him. Beverly Marsh is your girl-friend, like you guys sometimes casually fuck no feelings or strings attached. “Hey guys, what’s the plan today?” Eddie shook his head “Not today gang, I have work then I have to fix my car.” Mike shrugged, “I have farm work to do y’all, sorry.”
 “Bev, Richie? I know you’re free.” They nodded and picked at their school lunch. “Yeah we can smoke at the quarry.” After ten minutes Bev fell asleep at the table, Richie rolled blunts, Eddie listened to music, and Mike was doing homework. You got up to take a break from that awful smelly crowded lunch room. You walked right into somebody and quickly apologized, “Sorry dude, my bad.” Stan chuckled and ran a hand through his curls, “It’s all good doll.” You sighed “I take back my apology.” Stan smiled “So, why aren’t you with your crackhead friends?” You sighed “They’re all being dull. Even Richie and he is never and I mean never, dull.” Stan chuckled and cleared his throat, “Will you come to my game tonight?” You rolled your eyes “And why the fuck would I do that?” Stan smiled, “Because who wouldn’t want to see this cutie on the ice, and i’m not asking.” You smiled, “I will think about it”
——————
“No fucking way y/n! No fucking way am I going to the hockey game! Have you lost your shit?!” You grabbed Richie’s hand, “Please Chee pleasssseee” He rolled his eyes, “Wait, did Stan ask you to go?” You nodded slowly “Then no. I’m not going, not for him- wait Toby’s gonna be there, where’s the face paint bitch?” You laughed, painted his freckles black and orange,  and grabbed your old letterman jacket from track. “DAD ME AND CHEE ARE GOING TO THE HOCKEY GAME WE’LL BE BACK BY CURFEW!” You left your house and ran to the drivers side. “Richie there is now way in fucking hell you’re driving my fucking car.” He pouted and got in the other side.
     When you walked into the ice rink and smiled at Stan. “Y/n don’t you hate him?” You shrugged “He ain’t as bad as he seems Chee.” Your two got some popcorn and sat down. You kind of forgot that hockey is so violent so when they basically started fight you freaked. “Bub relax it’s allowed.” Richie rubbed your arm. When the game was over you went to congratulate Stan on his winning goal but bill stopped you.
 “Hey babygirl, up for some more fun?” You backed away from him “Just because I said yes doesn’t mean it’s consent forever. No I don’t want your dick near me ever again please.” Bill smiled, “Whore.” You walked away and heard Richie yell something, you turned and saw him punch Bill in the face. “You learn a bit when your dads abusive, aint that right billy” Richie got up and walked to you, “Sorry about that bub, you alright?” You nodded and found Stan. “Good job tonight Stan. Winning goal huh?” Stan chuckled and smiled, “Maybe I could...uh, put that number to use?” You gave him a wink before heading to your house with Richie. You dreamt of Stan that night.
“In the eye of the storm” ◊◊◊◊ a post-Frozen 2 fanfic ◊◊◊◊ CHAPTER 2: Twister
"Morning."
"M'ning." Muttered Anna, rubbing her eyes as she entered the room.
She noticed not only that Elsa was already cleaned and dressed – though that last step took only a couple of seconds when you were the Snow Queen – but that she had helped the servants to prepare breakfast, easily guessed by the way she was standing by the table and arranging everything to be at the exact place. Anna preferred to keep her remark about her sister's perfectionism for later.
"You're already awake? How the heck?"
Elsa chuckled lightly at her vocabulary, and her smile filled Anna's soul with as much vitamins than if she had started to eat.
"I'm used to wake up at the first lights of dawn." Said the blonde. "And as you don't have shutters at the windows..."
"You saw light passing through the clouds? All I see is a gloomy weather. With such a storm, the sun is hidden all day."
Elsa realized she didn't register the second half of her sentence.
"You should put shutters or panels at the windows. I know it's not the season to do so, but soon the glass might shatter. I can feel that the wind only will blow more and more in the following days."
"M'kay." Murmured Anna, hugging her then sitting down.
She bit in a yawn to at least have a minimum of decency in front of the maids, even if most of them had known her since she was a child.
The Queen then remembered at the word 'season' that she wanted to talk to her sister about something related to it. But she couldn't grasp what it was. She blinked and shrugged, stretching out her hand to get a slice of bread.
Elsa sat in front of her, like they always did back then when she lived in the castle.
"Thanks for preparing breakfast." Said Anna after she swallowed her third toast.
The blonde smiled behind her mug of tea. "You're welcome. It's the least I could do to thank you for sheltering me on such short notice."
"Sheltering you?" Repeated the younger with shock and amusement in her voice. "Do you hear yourself? Elsa, this is your home too, you're always welcome here."
Elsa smiled, and resumed to drink her black tea. She recognized in Anna's words the ones of her husband, and was touched to see that unconditional hospitality was one of their numerous common traits.
"Where's Kristoff? Don't you wake up at the same time?"
Anna pointed at the door with her thumb while she gulped her coffee with the ferocity of a beast. "He went to Eydis' room to wake her up. She takes like, ten minutes to get out of bed, so he helps Gerda."
Elsa laughed. She remembered well the state and posture of her niece when she had left her bedroom earlier in the morning. "Well, the apple doesn't fall far—"
Anna hit her leg with her foot.
"Ouch!"
"Yeah, don't even dare."
The blonde giggled as she massaged her tibia, now sore, but it was all worth it.
"Good morning darlings!" Smiled Kristoff as he entered, a robe on his pajamas while Anna didn't bother wearing something above it.
He rubbed a hand in Elsa's back and then walked to Anna to kiss her.
"What's that 'darlings' about? You don't call me honey today?" Teased the redhead.
Kristoff smiled. "There's a pot of it on the table already. I didn't want to bring confusion."
Anna eye rolled, but her sigh was also tender. "You really are the worst at puns on mornings."
He sat next to her, shrugging. "You know my brain doesn't work as long as I haven't drunk my coffee. Just like you."
They scrunched their noses staring at each other, teasing with glances.
Elsa smiled looking at them, her cheek laying on her fist.
"AUNTIEEEE!"
"Oh, the little star is here." Commented Elsa, not even turning around.
They all giggled and Eydis hugged her idol powerfully. She then did the same with her parents, and Kristoff almost swallowed his coffee the wrong way.
She ran around looking for the cushion she used to take to sit on a chair and be at their level, and then she ran back to the table once she found it. Eydis was exhaling so much childish joy on mornings that Elsa couldn't help but melt at the sight.
She comically climbed on the chair that was at the end of the table. "Auntie, do you think that Nokk and Gale will make up?"
Elsa blinked as she bit in a cookie. She did not expect that question as the first thing of the day.
"Uh... I don't know, sweetheart."
"Can't you sense it?"
Eydis insisted with her gaze, but her tone hadn't been sarcastic. She was fascinated by the connection the Spirits had between them, and now Anna and Kristoff had lifted their eyes to her to know the answer too.
Elsa felt ashamed to not have what they were looking for.
"I don't... Sense anything else than the fact they put all their power in a conflict. I'm sorry."
Anna frowned with emotion. "Hey, don't apologize. You did nothing wrong."
Elsa gulped.
"And I suppose that it's the first time ever that you feel anger emanating from them, isn't it?" Guessed Kristoff.
Elsa nodded. "Indeed. And it's..." Her right hand clenched on the table. "...really unpleasant."
Anna reached for it with her own hand. "It's gonna be okay. It will all end up well, eventually. We'll find a solution today."
The blonde smiled back, and Eydis bounced on her chair.
"Yeah, it will all be okay!"
The adults smiled at her genuine positivity. The girl exclaimed:
"When Nokk will be happy again, will we ride together, me on my pony and you on Nokk?"
Elsa smiled, ruffling her already messy hair. "Sure. I miss them just as much as you do."
She especially loved those rides with her, because she always spent a joyful time with her niece, and also because it drove the Water Spirit nuts to see how slow Eydis' pony was.
=======
Later in the morning, they all sat down in the living room to discuss about solutions. Mattias had joined them, much to Elsa's satisfaction, because she saw him rarely. Either she only had time to come for game nights and go back to the Forest right after, so she didn't get to visit him and Halima in the village, either he was busy training with the Arendelle's army.
"General Mattias. It's always a pleasure."
The man nudged her a bit as they embraced. "Please. Don't tease me. Just go for Mattias."
Elsa giggled. "I still think that this grade suits you well. It does have a ring to it."
Anna entered in the teasing game. "Oh, I only made him general because of how it sounded. Not because of his skills and wisdom. Of which he has none."
The black soldier looked at the dorky sisters with a smirk. "Are you two done?"
"And the fact he's my counselor only is for personal reasons." Kept going Anna, grinning along Elsa. "Not because he helps me in strategic meetings."
"Yeah, I heard you help Anna pick her dresses, is that right?"
They both giggled, and Mattias, even if he was amused, eyed the King from where he was.
"Kristoff, how can you even deal with those two?"
The blonde shrugged. "I don't. I actually plan to murder them with Olaf's help next week. But shh, don't tell anyone."
The sisters laughed even more, now holding to each other.
"What is going on?" Asked Eydis, entering the room with a book under her arm, finally getting out of her morning lesson. She had heard the word 'murder', which she didn't know, and would love to find out.
"Nothing", chuckled Mattias. "How are you, little Princess?"
"Great!" Beamed the little girl. "We started a new course today!"
She showed the book she had been holding.
"It's called trigged... Trigo..."
"Trigonometry?" Helped Elsa and Mattias with one voice.
"Yeah!" Exclaimed Eydis.
"Ooooh, I loved trigonometry when I was your age." Beamed Elsa. "You know, triangles are fascinating. The sum of their angles always equals—"
"Oh my goodness, please someone stops that nerd before she starts talking about fractals." Eyerolled Anna behind Mattias.
"Hey!" Grumbled the blonde, standing up after bending to her niece.
Anna stuck out her tongue as she sat on the couch next to Kristoff.
Mattias bent to Eydis. "You know, it's a really interesting and important class. I'm sure your aunt uses its rules when she crafts structures in ice. In fact, we use knowledge of it in military as well."
The princess' eyes sparkled. "Awesome! And is it practical in handiwork as well?"
The man nodded. "Of course. It's where it's the most useful, I think."
As she jolted along him, Elsa looked at her sister while she sat in the sofa by the couch. "Handiwork?" She repeated with a frown.
Anna waved her hand in the air. "She plays handiwork a lot lately. It's more 'pretend' than actually building anything, but she loves it. Craftspeople all around the village offered her tools so she could have a little kit."
"That's adorable." Smiled Elsa.
"Yeah, well, when she taps against door frames and stairs railings late in the night saying "this needs to be fixed!" and then mimes to bang nails in it or saw some parts, it's less fun."
The blonde giggled, sorry for them but deeply amused.
"This is as cute as dangerous", said Anna, "but don't worry, she hasn't broken anything on purpose. Yet."
"Lately she said she got a new hammer, and I suspect Oaken to have given him. Let's hope she'll not use it soon." Smiled Kristoff.
"I'll maybe confiscate her toolkit..." Sighed Anna, looking at her daughter talking with Mattias.
Kristoff frowned.
"Don't, that would break her heart. She loves handiwork just like you love to read novels, Anna. It's her passion."
They smiled at the father's wisdom.
"You're right." Admitted Anna.
"And I know someone who was just as dangerous when she was her age..." Teased Elsa.
The Queen lifted her eyebrows. "Who? Me?"
The blond chuckled, turning to her. "How many times did you say you made the armors fall apart again?"
She pushed him away, but her tiny hand on his muscular chest didn't make him move an inch. "Alright, alright. I was a constant mess and she inherited from me. Here, is that what you wanted to hear?"
The two others laughed a yes.
Mattias joined them and they started to think about all the possibilities to compensate the magic storm. The discussion went on for a full hour, and as Elsa now was nervously fidgeting with a cushion as she declined all of their suggestions because of how impossible to do they were, Anna was just as nervously standing up. Pacing back and forth in front of the lit fireplace, she searched for a solution to help her sister, but also her kingdom which was starting to get impacted by such a weather condition. Arendelle had known many terrible natural events in its history, but this one had been going on for many days without a pause. It started to tire the people and reduce the resources. She turned to her elder.
"Elsa, you know the best way is to get to Ahtohallan and get their opinion on this."
The blonde lifted her eyes to her, a bit annoyed.
"And Anna, I told you a dozen times already that I can't cross the sea."
The Queen agitated her hands. She wasn't going to give up easily.
"We should try together. We'll cross the Dark Sea despite the storm. We're the Bridge, nothing can stop us! I'm going to ask to prepare a ship from my private float..."
Elsa widened her eyes.
"Anna, no. That's out of question."
"Why? I should help you! I want to help you!"
Elsa now frowned.
"You will not go in a ship to Ahtohallan!"
"What?"
"Especially with a weather like this."
"WHY?!" Erupted Anna, enraging.
"BECAUSE I DON'T WANT YOU TO GO IN A STORM ON A SHIP!"
Elsa's voice filled the room with force as she suddenly stood up. Kristoff and Mattias turned to her with shocked faces. Eydis retracted on the couch, holding her knees against her chest in fear. All got startled by how Elsa had suddenly raised her tone, something she very rarely did. Breathing heavily, she locked her eyes with her little sister.
Anna definitely was the most stunned of them all. Standing still by the fireplace, her lips trembled. She stared at Elsa intensely, but unlike the blonde's eyes which were panicked, hers eyes were sad, and filling with tears turning her vision blur. She saw that Elsa's eyes were teary as well.
She could also tell that, in that gaze, was almost printed the mental image of an Arendellian ship grimly lit by a lightning bolt and sinking in giant waves, never returning home.
The redhead gulped, gasping in a breath she had been holding.
"Elsa, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to..."
The elder sighed. "Yes, I know..."
She closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead. "But still, please never bring up that suggestion again. Ever."
The room remained silent, and she picked up the cushion she had made fall to the carpet when she stood. However, she didn't sit to hold it against her. She put it back on the sofa, and walked to the door.
"I... Sorry, I need a break. I'll meet you guys later."
Anna gasped.
"Elsa..."
Her voice was weak and devastated, and she bit her lip in a pout as the blonde left the room.
The two men exchanged a look, not daring to add a word, and Eydis stared sadly at the spot where her aunt's back had turned to the corridor.
The Queen crossed the room to go after her, but Kristoff held her arm. He stood up to be at her side. He shook his head.
"Don't push her. You know you have to give her some space."
"Yes, of course." Murmured Anna grudgingly.
She lowered her gaze, and agreed with him. Anna could only clear her throat and change the topic, so they would talk about something else until she felt the time was right to go talk with her sister.
=======
"The past is in the past", Elsa had often said through the years since they got closer again.
The redhead held to this promise with dear life. By experience with her sister, Anna knew that her time alone wouldn't be long, and that she was allowed to gently ask to burst her bubble.
As she walked up the stairs, she felt like it was entirely her fault if Elsa was nervous after their argument and needed to isolate herself. She should never have suggested this stupid idea of going on a ship! Why did she suggest this stupid idea of going on a ship?!
Anna was so angry at herself that her knock on the wood of the door actually was stronger than she meant. However, Elsa didn't respond. Usually, she would say "Come in", or just "Hmm" to indicate Anna was welcome to enter. But here, nothing.
The younger's heart clenched. Persuaded she was the problem, she didn't dare to open the door, even if it looked unlocked.
"Elsa..."
She gulped. Why was it so hard to do that again? She knew that years had gone by, that their relationship was completely different and open now. It was so difficult to dive into this setting once again. Anna had known this situation for ages, but nothing could have prepared her to return to it.
Her hand clenched in a fist against the lacquered wood.
"Elsa, please, answer me. Please."
Without realizing it, her breathing sped up.
"Elsa..."
The Queen was rapidly having a panic attack. Not again. Not this situation. Please, gods, anything but this situation again. She couldn't go through it again.
Her legs felt like cotton, and she fell to the corridor's floor.
Anna's nails rasped the door.
"Elsa, I'm—"
"Anna, what are you doing?"
The redhead gasped loudly, and in the gesture, she swallowed a water drop, which was a tear that had fallen on her face and she hadn't noticed.
She spun around, falling on her butt as she did because of how fast she turned, and saw that Elsa was walking to her with frowned eyebrows and a concerned face, closing the book she visibly had been reading.
"Why are you here crying on the floor? What is going on?"
Anna had to gulp to form an answer, and in the meantime, the blonde's eyes darted to the door. Everything clicked in her mind like a puzzle.
"Oh Ahtohallan, you thought I shut you out?"
The redhead was unable to answer something else than a bubble of cry, her lips twitching in a tearful pout. She nodded, trembling. Elsa urged to go crouch to her.
"Anna... Hey, hey it's okay. Come here."
The younger didn't wait for a second call. She launched herself in her arms and sobbed silently on Elsa's shoulder. The Snow Queen recognized the too-familiar behavior of a panic attack, and she passed a hand along Anna's back and in her long hair to soothe her breathing. Acting like magic, and maybe it was, the redhead calmed quickly, melting in Elsa's embrace. The elder held her tight.
"I'm so sorry. I went to the library to get a register, and..."
She didn't add more. What was the purpose? She felt terrible for making Anna believe she didn't want to see her.
Elsa delicately parted the hug, and looked at her sister in the eyes.
"I would never, ever shut you out, okay? I know I'm still very bad at making it clear on why and how I need time alone, but... It's never to abandon you."
Anna nodded, gulping loudly again, and gasping because she still had her throat twisted by her emotion.
"Sorry for doubting it." Admitted the younger.
Elsa gasped in an exclamation as she rubbed Anna's tears. "You're really not the wrongdoer, you know!"
Anna had a smile at the corner of her lips. Minutes passed as Elsa made sure that her little sister retrieved her normal breathing. Finally, they stood up, and after she cleaned her face, Anna saw the book she picked from the floor.
"That's a register?"
"Hmm-hmm." Nodded Elsa, showing it to her.
As Anna turned the pages and realized what it was meant to take in account, Elsa continued: "Our argument earlier... That actually gave me an idea. Follow me."
The redhead blinked in confusion, but walked behind her elder through the castle, until they reached the servant's room where she knew Kai and Gerda would be at that time of day. Elsa asked if they were available, and the four of them went to a silent spot in the corridor.
"Kai, Gerda... You're the oldest servants we have. What I mean is, you were there when the accident with our parents happened."
The two widened their eyes, and Anna turned to her sister with emotion.
"Do you remember if the storm that happened that night was the same than the one occurring when Mother and Father were lost at sea?" Asked Elsa.
The maid looked at the ceiling as she thought. "Hum... Maybe..."
Her gaze then went from one sister to another. "Can't you tell?"
Elsa had a sad smile. "Anna was too shocked by the loss to remember it in detail, and me too, but I also was locking myself indoors, so I could tell even less about the weather..."
Anna turned to her sister again. She knew how shocked she was? Of course she knew. But that still was touching.
"I see..." Nodded Gerda.
"Well... We can't really know." Said Kai, looking sorry. "It was a stormy night like any other."
Gerda agreed. "I only remember that ships were unadvised to go sail that night and all stayed on the harbor, but the ship of your late parents had already departed an hour or so before..."
Anna lowered her eyes. "The wind had come up after they left. It was just misfortune."
"Yes."
Something held Anna's hand and it surprised her. Elsa squeezed her touch, and the redhead smiled sadly. "It was a good idea to investigate on that. But apparently, the two events don't coincide."
Kai looked at them. "Indeed, the storm which happened that day wasn't magical in any way."
Gerda turned to Elsa. "I have yet to understand fully the nuance between the magic of the Spirits of Nature and the science of meteorology, but the storm that happened that day more than ten years ago truly wasn't the same that we endure today. It was less intense and shorter."
Elsa nodded. She also paid attention to the subtext Gerda gave when she said she still was confused about knowing that there were Spirits associated to elements, and that the soft and shy little princess she had seen grow up had become a goddess able to command them.
"Thank you for your precisions." Smiled Anna.
Once they both bowed and returned to their activities, she turned to her elder. "It was brilliant that you came up with that conclusion."
Elsa looked at her, her eyes a bit lost in a reflection.
"I can't tell if the news that this is not the same kind of storm makes me relieved or worried..."
Anna winced. "Me neither."
=======
Eydis, however, was extremely relieved to see her aunt back after her other class of the morning, jumping at her sight at the lunch table. After the first course, she asked her to make a dome to cover her plate because she heard her mother on the other side of the table say that she was capable of doing everything with her magic. Elsa smirked, and flicked her wrist in the air. A glass-like cloche made of ice fell on her dish with a satisfying 'click' like it was tailor-made.
"Waaaoh!" Exclaimed Eydis, and she clapped in admiration like Elsa just did something utterly incredible.
The Snow Queen grinned however, because coming from her, it was a lovely compliment.
"Eydis, eat your vegetables. If you let it too long under Elsa's dome, it will get colder." Warned Anna.
"Yes, Mama." Pouted the girl, grabbing the cloche with her tiny hands to put it aside.
Elsa bit her lip and wiggled her finger, and in a crisp of frost, Eydis hands got stuck to the ice. She noticed it by the sensation and the fact she now was unable to put it down, and she giggled loudly.
"Auntieeee!"
Elsa laughed openly. Eydis continued to shake the dome up and down to get rid of it, laughing even more.
"Elsa, please let her eat."
The blonde rolled her eyes at Anna being a killjoy, and vanished it. The princess was disappointed, but the Snow Queen pointed at the vegetables to remind her it was important for her to eat them.
Elsa and Anna chatted lightly and after a while, it reminded the little girl of the argument they had a few hours before.
"I can build a ship."
Elsa turned to her. "Pardon?"
"I can build a ship to bring you to At-the... A-tho..."
"Ahtohallan." Smiled Elsa.
"Yeah. That."
"You can build ships? Entire ships?" Teased Elsa.
"Yes I can!" Exclaimed Eydis, thinking she doubted of her. "I've become really good at building stuff! I have all the tools! I even have screwdrivers! And I have rulers, and a new hammer, and I even got a chisel and—"
"A chisel?" Suddenly worried the blonde.
"I took it away from her."
Elsa sighed at Anna's sentence, easily imagining the fiery princess running around the castle with such a blade.
"But I need it to help the village's carpenter!" Pouted Eydis, shocked to know her mother did such a thing.
"You'll help him by assisting him", calmed Kristoff, finding a compromise.
It seemed to work, because the girl grumbled but returned to eating what was in her plate.
"Every Wednesday, she goes in the village and he teaches her some stuff. The architect working with him once said that she's got good pen stroke skills. Apparently, she already got perspective, which is rare at her age."
Anna chew on her piece of cheese and pointed at her elder.
"That is something she inherited from you."
Elsa smiled with delight, and she felt her cheeks get warmer in pride. She looked down at Eydis, and her smile disappeared when she saw that the girl currently was pulling her steak with her teeth. Anna sighed.
"Elsa, could you help the carnivore cut her meat?"
Eydis whined and Elsa complied, giggling.
After she did, she turned to her sister and brother-in-law.
"I'll take notes of the weather's intensity today, and see if it gets worse tomorrow. In the morning, I'll go investigate to see how big the storm is, and to which scale it extends."
"I'll come with you." Announced Anna.
Elsa frowned. "No, don't let me go on how dangerous it is for you."
"I don't risk anything if I'm with you." Underlined the redhead, knowing well what arguments to use with her.
The blonde got speechless.
"Touché." Muttered Kristoff as he drank his glass of red wine.
"Will you request for the other Spirits' help?" Inquired Eydis.
"Maybe I'll ask for the Giants to give us a hand, yes. Quite literally." Smiled Elsa.
"And will you need my help?"
The Snow Queen heard in that question that her niece was desperately asking for her to say yes to bring some adventure to her daily life, and the following day surely was filled with boring classes. However, she had to say no. She would never risk Anna's life, all the more for Eydis.
"No, but you'll be very helpful once you'll learn everything about trigonometry to help the carpenter."
"Really?" Beamed the princess, not even realizing she diverted the topic.
"Yes! And if you're nice, I might buy you a spirit level. It will be your most precious asset in handiwork, trust me."
Eydis' eyes sparkled even more. "Is it magical?"
"What? No, it's based on a bubble—"
She then realized what she had just said, and that she was talking to a child.
"Yes. Yes obviously. It's magical. It's a spirit level, of course it is."
"Awesome!"
Eydis then returned to her plate, and Elsa exchanged an amused look with her parents.
"Spirits magic really is awesome." Muttered Eydis, chewing on her meat.
=======
"Can I sleep with Auntie tonight as well?"
Kristoff snorted. "This is becoming a habit, uh?"
Eydis pushed the storybook he was reading her by the fire in the living room and turned with an adorable pout.
"Pleeeease."
She then looked genuinely sad. "I don't see her often."
The King melted at the sight. "Sure, I'll go tell her."
He stood up and she clamped to him like a baby koala. "No, wait, stay."
Kristoff smiled. "Why?"
As an answer, the wind outside started to blow, making the windows tremble. It made a haunting sound when it passed by the chimney, and the flames danced a bit. They didn't notice the storm much by day when they were inside, because they were busy or talking, but now that night had fallen, the castle was quiet, and it emphasized its violence.
"You're scared of the storm?"
She shook her head to say no, but her red cheeks and glittering eyes stated the opposite. Kristoff held her tight.
"Hey, it's okay. It's just wind and rain. You're safe in the castle."
"But it's magic."
He passed a hand on her hair. "Yes, but this magic will never harm you. I promise."
Kristoff then smiled. "Is it company you look for? Do you want me to sleep with you tonight?"
Eydis grumbled, stepping out of the embrace. "No! I'm a big girl now. I don't need you to take care of me like a baby."
Her father understood that she was referring to him and Anna. "Okay."
She hugged him again however, and Kristoff took note that sleeping with her aunt, even if she was close family, didn't make Eydis feel like she was smothered.
When he joined Elsa later and he told her her wish, he also shared his thoughts.
"Yeah, it's very common for children of her age." Nodded Elsa. "Many Northuldra kids ask for a separate hut before they even are ten years old. It's normal, and it will pass. Trust me. Neither Anna or me were like that at her age, for we had a... Quite special childhood... But I'm certain that it's normal for Eydis."
"I'm not really a reference either." Chuckled Kristoff nervously, for he got raised by trolls.
"I'll sleep with her and keep an eye on her, don't worry. It makes me happy too."
"Great."
An hour later, Eydis and her were under the sheets, and this time the princess didn't request a chime, for the wind had calmed down to the benefit of rain, now a downpour. Thankfully, the drops weren't pushed to the windows, so it was a rather calm night, and Elsa smiled when she saw how soundly her niece was sleeping. She soon closed her own eyes and let herself drift to sleep.
=======
Eydis coughed lightly when she swallowed something tiny and cold. She frowned, her eyes still closed, and rubbed her mouth. As she did, the girl felt the familiar sensation of sharp touches of a snowing day and wondered why she felt it on her skin then. It must be a very realistic dream...
She fell to sleep again, turning on her pillow, but was woken up by a second tiny and cold thing falling in her ear this time. With a groan, she shook her head and wagged her arms around to get rid of what she thought were flies. Confused, she opened her eyes, and what her brown irises sparkled at the sight of a billion snowflakes falling in her bedroom.
They magically formed under the ceiling, then dropped slowly to the floor, vanishing just before hitting the carpet and the parquet. Eydis forgot to blink for a moment because of how jaw-dropping she was, and winced with clenched eyelids when she remembered that she had to. She kneeled then stood on the bed, watching what was happening in awe. Like silver dust, the snowflakes started to form a forest, and two people running around the trees. They didn't look very real, thought Eydis, and it reminded her of the illustrations in the storybooks her father read to her. She wondered if she were dreaming, and pinched her arm. After a wince, she noted that she definitely wasn't; as awesome as it was, what was happening in her bedroom really was happening in her bedroom.
Eydis hummed. She had heard multiple times from her mother that Elsa would sometimes conjure snow when she's upset. The little girl felt sad for her, and looked down at her aunt's face, but she was sleeping peacefully, even smiling. Everything clicked in the princess' brain: Elsa's smiles and moans were in sync with what was happening in the air. Was she controlling that show? Was she pranking her? No, she looked like she was genuinely sleeping, even if she had a calm breathing, just like her father when he had naps on the couch.
Eydis stood up, admiring the scene, not daring to touch the little characters at first, but then interacting with them with her fingers, following the trail of the forest that got drawn here. She squinted as she tried to understand who the two persons were. One looked just like Elsa, and the other, she couldn't quite understand, because they kept jumping on tree logs while the magic-drawing-Elsa clapped at her. She heard them both laugh, and it sounded weird, like it was distant and pitched like a bell.
The princess turned around the room to see more. The two were playing 'catch me' and giggling louder and louder in the forest. Eydis turned when she heard Elsa laugh slightly in her sleep. Suddenly, the magic-drawing-Elsa got caught by the other person because they had been hiding behind a tree, and Eydis finally recognized who it was when they talked, still with a bell-like voice.
"I won! Told you I could get you in no time." Laughed Honeymaren.
"Okay, okay, one point for you. I'll do the dishes."
Eydis heard Elsa laugh again in the bed, and she beamed at the scene. So it was Elsa and Honeymaren playing! She saw the mini-Elsa picking up pots and spoons and walking to what looked like a river, wide and going through the whole bedroom. It flowed like actual water with all its tiny snowflakes strolling in one move, and Eydis couldn't help but touch it with a "Woaaaw..."
She had to show this to her parents. She ran to the door, her forehead going through ice projections of branches, and she blinked with a giggle when it fell to her eyes. Eydis shook her head and ran in the corridor to her parent's bedroom.
"Mama! Mama!"
Anna grumbled at the sudden intrusion, noise and weight on her as Eydis jumped on the bed.
"Your daughter is awake", muttered Kristoff.
Anna sighed. "Sorry, but I technically have 'People of the Sun' blood, so before sunrise, she's your daughter."
"Mama!" Insisted Eydis, shaking Anna's shoulders specifically.
"What, sweetie?" Murmured the redhead.
"Elsa does magic!"
"Yes, we're aware."
"She is having visions! She has magic all over! The whole bedroom has ice in it!"
It took Anna a second, then her eyes opened wide.
"What, WHAT, WHAT?"
Those three informations were very alarming.
"Come, quick!"
No need to tell her twice. Anna jumped out of bed, hurrying. She was way faster than her daughter, and opened her bedroom's door wide. She gasped when she saw the scene. Just like Eydis, she couldn't help but contemplate it. She looked at every detail, at the trees, at the rocks, at the way they were made of what looked like a billion of stars. Emotion roamed in her heart and in her guts. It simply was one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen in her life.
"Incredible..." She whispered.
Eydis finally arrived, and bumped headfirst into her back.
Stumbling, her mother then walked to Elsa still sleeping soundly, and was about to wake her up, but she looked so happy and peaceful with a smile matching her dream that she didn't dare to.
"Mama!" Exclaimed Eydis, rubbing her forehead. "Why did you stand there? It hurts!"
She had been talking with a regular voice, and Elsa stirred in her sleep. She frowned as something woke her up, and her dream projection softly vanished. The sparkles of magic disappeared, much to Anna's and Eydis' disappointment.
Elsa blinked, and suddenly widened her eyes when she saw her sister and her niece staring right at her in the dark.
"Uhhh... Hello?"
Anna inspected her face, like she was checking for fever signs by a simple gaze.
"...What is going on?" Worried Elsa.
"Are you okay?"
"I... Well, yes. I'm perfectly fine."
A smile even stretched her lips. She actually felt great. She couldn't tell why, but her brain was filled with happiness.
"Why are you two looking at me like this?"
Anna sat on the sheets in front of her sister.
"Elsa... Your dream was materializing."
To Owe A Date
Request fill from AO3 I got carried away with.
@cecie-does-stuff-things I thought maybe you'd like to be tagged since it's DeSleep!
Summary: The new barista at the coffee shop Janus frequents is a shameless tease of a flirt. Janus finds he doesnt really mind.
Warnings: none
Ships: DeSleep, Janus x Remy
WC: 1,499
Rarely was Janus in a worse mood than he was that morning.
It had started off fine, his sons getting along relatively well for the most part. Remus had only stolen one shoe and hidden it the morning and Roman had only gone off on one tirade concerning some musical or another. He loved both of them dearly, chaotic as they were with their typical escapades and he loved listening to their interests and debates on those interests, but they often made for exhausting mornings that made him crave the sweet release of caffeine before he felt ready to face his clients, many of which acted less mature than his seven year olds.
As it was he gently massaged his temples as he kept a fast pace to the nearest coffe shop, which made average drinks at best but was cheap and on his way to the tattoo parlor so he really couldn't complain. Burying himself further in his caplet as he went (yes they were still in style, it was warm and kept his arms free) he stepped hurriedly inside, the small bell tinkling and alerting the worker behind the bar.
Janus' brow furrowed slightly as he took in the new cashier, styled hair swooping low over a dark set of sunglasses and an eclectic assortment of what looked like silly bands adorning his wrists. Sighing quietly he prayed that the newcomer knew how to make coffee already and wasn't a completely new trainee, otherwise this day was going to be a lot more painful than he had anticipated.
"Hey shortcake, what's your poison?"
Janus blinked, the server stood at least a head taller than him, making his comment instantly infuriating. "I have to wait until at least two before consuming alcohol. Unfortunately coffee is classier than wine before noon."
The barista laughed outright. "Ooooh, tired wine mom aesthetic! Don't worry, in this shop we love Karens."
"You won't in about five seconds if I'm still refused service, no ones too tall for a kick to the kneecaps." Janus leaned pointedly against the counter, refusing to acknowledge the others shameless flirting, if that's what it could even be called. The other whistled low and grabbed a small pad and pen, straightening and standing to attention.
"Yes sir." The sultry tone definitely didn't go over Janus head but he merely rolled his eyes and glared point blank. "Alright fine. Geez girl, you are absolutely no fun. Do you know how boring it is in here most days? Can't blame a guy for trying. I'm gonna guess...you're probably a lightweight, so decaf with lots of sugar hun?"
Janus snorted. "Fuck no. A mocha with two extra espresso shots and whipped cream. I'll pay the extra."
Raising his eyebrow the barista jotted down his order and smirked. "Love a man who can hold his espresso. It'll be just a minute...?"
"Karen."
Laughing out loud again, he just nodded and turned away forwards the various machines to go about filling the order. In no time at all it was done, his cup handed over with Karen ♡ carefully written on the side. Paying quickly, Janus turned to leave, only pausing when the man's voice called out to him.
"See ya later babes."
"Depends on how good the coffee is." Janus threw over his shoulder not bothering to look back as he left to actually go to his job. Walking briskly down the sidewalk he idly took a sip of his order while checking his phone for the time.
...well shit.
Concentration fully on his drink he realized that even if that shop wasn't already his regular coffee shop it certainly would be now.
-----
"Dad! Guess what I did today?" Roman jumped up and down excitedly clutching his backpack.
"No, his story's stupid! Guess what I did instead!" Judging from Remus' mud covered jeans Janus could definitely give a guest as to what he did. Sighing in mock exasperation, he shifted the groceries and continued to carefully step up the stairs.
"I suppose it'll be up to whoever can get the groceries over to Mrs. Gibson the fastest can tell their story first." That way too he wouldn't be tripping over them trying to unlock the door with an armload of groceries.
"RACE YOU!!" As soon as they reached the landing Remus took off, leaving a loudly protesting Roman to catch up with him.
"Quieter please, and be-!" A loud crash followed by apples skidding across wood. "-careful. Are you alright?"
His worry dispersed as Remus scrambled up and began picking everything up and shoving them back in the bags, his brother begrudgingly helping him. Smiling and shaking his head he turned to the door and attempted to reach the key while still holding the bags, a feat which he stubbornly refused to believe was impossible now that he had started.
"Do you like, need help or-?" A familiar voice had him glancing up, mouth running dry as he recognized the sunglasses wearing flirt from that morning.
"How am I supposed to be enraptured by my saviors eyes if I can't gaze into them like the star struck lover I am?" Janus drawled, still making a valiant effort to reach his pocket.
"No can do babe, fluorescents are just as bad as sunlight and I enjoy looking at your own eyes too much to risk blindness." So saying he reached over and took the groceries, smugly carrying them all one handed while holding a cup of coffee in the other.
Pretending not to notice his burning face Janus turned to finally get the door open just as the boys were running back down the hall.
"Dad Mrs. Gibson gave us candy-! Oh! Hi mister!" Roman stopped abruptedly in front of the stranger, who smiled and tipped his head.
"Sup kid." Unfortunately, Remus didn't have the luxury of paying attention, too enraptured by the bag of chocolate he had been given to bother slowing down and barreled his way straight into his twin.
Janus saw the dominos fall in slow motion; Roman stumbling forward and reaching out for something to grab, which just so happened to be the baristas arm. Coffee spilled in a waterfall on both of twins' heads and in a desperate attempt to remedy the situation the man jerked his hand up and away, getting a face full of ice and the remaining coffee in the process. For a moment time stood still, but taking in everyone's drenched appearance Janus couldn't help a small small to grow to a grin, a snort breaking the silence as he struggled to contain his laughter, apologizing through it nonetheless.
"I'm so sorry, are you-are you okay?"
Before he could answer he was cut off by Roman. "I'm so sorry I didn't mean to it was an accident-!"
"Hey kid, check this out." The man kneeled, setting the cup down before flipping his glasses up and letting chunks of ice fall from behind them. "No use crying over spilled coffee. It's chill."
Janus stared incredulously before letting loose another peal of laughter. He nudged open the door and ushered the boys inside. "Go clean up before you end up sticky. I don't care if you like it Remus go."
"Boy they took chaos twins to heart didn't they?"
Janus turned around and offered an apologetic smile. "I really am sorry about all of this-"
He waved him off. "It's cool babes. You just owe me coffee now."
Janus smirked and tugged on his groceries, taking them back. "I'd say I just owe you an offer to come in and clean up. Where's the coffee coming from?"
"Oh I might have a place in mind."
----
"This is not what I thought you meant." Janus stood with a deadpan expression as he took in the small cafe that was decidedly not the other's place of work.
"I never eat where I work babes." The man replied, reading Janus' thoughts.
"I thought I was just buying you coffee?" He sputtered following after him.
"Oh you paid me back with that yesterday when I washed my hair in the sink. This is because i owe you a date."
Who the hell- "You are really forward aren't you?"
The other tipped his glasses down slightly to wink. "You haven't told me to fuck off yet so I'm just taking it in stride."
"This is one date, to be clear."
"Sure Karen."
"Janus."
The other stopped and whirled around. "What babes?"
Janus ran his fingers through his hair in exasperation. "It's Janus."
Smiling, the man stepped forward and leaned slightly to fix his hair, making his face erupt in flames. "Call me Remy, shortstack."
Janus scowled. "I'm not that short!"
"Babes, I'm like a head taller than you. You're kids'll probs be taller than you by the time they're ten."
Bickering all the way to the door Janus couldn't help but smile. Short just meant dibs on being the little spoon, and he had every intention of taking advantage of that.
As always this work is also available on AO3!
