let jason be dead pls
guys, I don't know about you but, let Jason be dead. Like? Yeah, it's sad he's gone but that kinda the fucking point?
Heroes of Olympus was literally them making sure that the Doors of Death and Thanatos kept on taking souls. Jason helped with that. He would not be down to return after literally everything they all did to make sure this wouldn't happen.
Also, prophecies. For a prophecy, this one was pretty straightforward on who was going to die. It's either Piper or Jason. Jason was part of two prophecies where it was either him or one of his friends. That's a bit telling that it's his time.
Also, that death was arguably the most important death in the pentologies. He was a main character. It raises the stakes. Not everyone is safe to live a happily ever after. Especially not one who is a demigod.
I can understand wanting Jason back fanfics exist. But this is mainly directed to those who deny the book series existence because of this.
#only time i will allow jason to be alive is if piper is the one who dies /HK#/HJ#i may have advocated for jason being powerful before but let the guy rest#i don't think he had that for a while#heroes of olympus#jason grace#trials of apollo#the plot point for like the first four books of heroes of olympus is to make sure dead people don't come back#there is not denying that part#i love trials of apollo if you can't tell#pls this is one of the stupidest reasons to deny the book's existence

11!!! vani you’re so close, only 80k words to go
what led you to choosing jason’s story? you obviously planned for him to die from the beginning but what was the process of figuring out how to make it happen and justifying it?
dont even joke abt 80k ill do it sgdjdkejehekken
re: jason - i knew i wanted to kill him because he dies in canon, and i actually dont hate that he dies in canon, i just hate that it was done in a series that wasnt his own. i actually quite like the whole idea of jason choosing to sacrifice himself over piper with her not even knowing shit about it - the books made it even more heartbreaking because theyre broken up, but i didnt want to do that, so i made him just hide it vehemently instead.
another reason he had to die was because in my fic, he is older than percy by about a month, and i really wanted to drive it home that all the children of the big three who were older than percy and died (jason, thalia, bianca) did so because they were IN THE WAY. theres no nice way to put it. percy was the child/hero of the prophecy, and them being alive just fucked shit up timeline-wise and confused everything. jason figures this out pretty quick, though. it's a slim comfort to him, knowing that even though he wont be around, percy will survive. that's why he entrusts him, out of everyone, to take care of piper.
my process in stretching this out just came from outlining this fic to hell and back. it made sense to have his nemesis be krios, since jason does kill him in canon. i knew he wouldnt make it to the final battle, and logically his death would serve has a good place to leave off ch4. that meant he had to leave by the end of ch3 and find out about his fate by ch1/2 (i chose 1). this would give him more than enough time to come up with a plan and come to terms with his fate.
i wanted to make jason's arc about the slow acceptance of death. i had an aunt who battled cancer for a long, long time, and i watched her cycle slowly through each worsening stage with a grim acceptance. in her last years, though, she told me she was choosing to live life and she was using her time to appreciate what she had. i visited her days before she passed and while she put on a brave face in front of me, she confessed to my mom that she was scared, and i wondered for a long time how long she spent hiding her pain from others just to save us from sharing hers.
jason's journey is largely inspired by my aunt. he knows death is looming over him, but he chooses to hide his own anxiety in favor of allowing his friends to be happy. the only time he shows his fear is as he dies in piper's arms, when he has nothing to lose by hiding it anymore.
piper was his greatest source of joy and he knows she has the capability to love again, but if she died, he knows he would never be able to. and yes! it's a selfish choice, as piper tells him, but one he believed was necessary.
through the course of wcwsthwas, jason learns he's lived a good life. he found his family and found love and true friendship. he wouldnt give them up for the world - so he chose to give himself up instead.
IDK IF I ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION I JUST RAMBLED AYSGSICYSIVYAGIV SORRY BUT TY FOR ANOTHER GOOD ONE!!!

The Curse of Oenone (Leo Valdez xFem!Oc)
A/N: It's sad bitch hours -Danny Words: 1,784 Series' Masterlist Previous Chapter // Next Chapter Listen to: 'Hey Girl' -by Stephen Sanchez
XXV: You Can't Spell Drama Without A-R-A
"It's my fault," Leo sentences.
"No. No, this is Gaea's fault. It had nothing to do with you." The boy only sinks further on his chair, so Hazel insists. "Leo, listen to me. I won't allow you to take the blame. I couldn't bear that after—after Sammy..."
Nico is shaking from both, anger and sickness. "This is Ara's fault."
In different circumstances, Ara would've jumped at his throat, but this one time, he's absolutely correct.
"I told them to leave," she says hoarsely after all the screaming.
"Like Percy would ever do that," Nico's voice is weak but charged with resentment. "He has to carry you through every quest—"
Ara glares at him. "We came to save your miserable corpse and you almost died right after!"
"Because I had to run after you, you stupid—"
"Ara," Leo's voice sounds so different from his usual upbeat tone that it gets everyone's attention. "What were you thinking?"
Nico continues heatedly. "She tried to jump into Tartarus."
"What?" Piper asks with shock. "No, Ara wouldn't do that, that's insane and she's always telling us—"
Nico laughs dryly. "None of you know her. Annabeth and Percy tried to stop her but those who help Ara always meet tragic endings. Have you told them about Michael?"
Ara stares at him, refusing to react to what he's saying. Nico steps closer to her, his eyes darkening. He speaks in ancient Greek. "Revolting arae."
The girl grasps the neck of his jacket in a fit of rage. "You—!"
"That's enough!" Jason pulls them apart, thunder booming above them threateningly. "Ara, what is he talking about?"
She pushes Jason away. "I have a prophecy. I can tell you about it, but I don't need you to help me with it."
"Ara, that's a serious deal, what if it has to do with ours?" Hazel asks anxiously. "What if it has to do with Percy and Annabeth?"
Her voice quivers. "Please, focus on your quest."
"And how do you expect us to do that?" Leo asks angrily. "There is no way to contact your brother and Annabeth in Tartarus, without them this quest might go stale—and you were going to jump in like it's nothing?"
"Leo, they're not dead," Nico intervenes. "If they were, I could feel it."
"How can you be sure?" Leo demands. "If that pit really led to that place, how could you sense them so far away?"
He's agitated, and Ara knows it's not only because of Percy and Annabeth. He's freaking out thinking that it could've been her if Annabeth hadn't jumped in to save her at the last minute.
"We can't be one hundred percent sure," Hazel says. "But I think Nico is right. Percy and Annabeth are still alive... at least, so far."
"I packed well for the journey, and Annabeth took my bag," Ara looks down at her feet. "They can survive a whole week if we push their luck."
"Gods, Ara," Jason stares at her not believing what he's hearing. "You were going to jump in for real? What were you thinking? I thought we were past hiding things..."
Disappointing Jason almost feels like making her mother cry, which is weird and unexpected, she didn't know she cared this much about his opinion. Her throat tightens and Ara struggles to get the words out.
"Janus and Nemesis are talking to me all the time... Leo told me he'd used the fortune cookie, everything had fallen into place for me to act accordingly."
"Wait, you hear voices?" Frank asks in a curious voice.
"You're delusional," Nico states harshly. "I'm the only one who has been in Tartarus, and that place would've destroyed someone like you the moment you'd stepped into it. You would've had no chance of survival."
"Someone like me," Ara glares at him. "You mean weak?"
Nico's face twists with irritation. "I mean someone like you, Ara." He doesn't elaborate, but she doesn't want him to.
Frank dries his tears and speaks up. "Percy and Annabeth... what are their chances?"
Nico fidgets with the ring on his finger. "Percy is the most powerful demigod I've ever met. No offense to you guys, but it's true. If anybody can survive, he will, especially if he's got Annabeth at his side. They're going to find a way through Tartarus."
"To the Doors of Death, you mean," Jason says. "But you told us it's guarded by Gaea's most powerful forces. How could two demigods possibly—?"
"I don't know. But Percy told me to lead you guys to Epirus, to the mortal side of the doorway. He's planning on meeting us there. If we can survive the House of Hades, fight our way through Gaea's forces, then maybe we can work together with Percy and Annabeth and seal the Doors of Death from both sides."
"And get Percy and Annabeth back safely?" Leo inquires.
"Maybe."
"We can work with maybe," Ara assures them. "We'll get through."
"I don't like it when I have to agree with you," Nico makes a face, "and I don't know how they'll manage it, but Percy and Annabeth will find a way. They'll journey through Tartarus and find the Doors of Death. When they do, we have to be ready."
"Someone has to stay," Janus reminds her. "To close the doors, someone has to stay behind."
"It won't be easy," Hazel points out. "Gaea will throw everything she's got at us to keep us from reaching Epirus."
"What else is new?" Jason mutters.
"We've got no choice," Piper replies. "We have to seal the Doors of Death before we can stop the giants from raising Gaea. Otherwise her armies will never die. And we've got to hurry. The Romans are in New York. Soon, they'll be marching on Camp Half-Blood."
"We've got one month at best," Jason shifts his weight from one foot to the other. "Ephialtes said Gaea would awaken in exactly one month."
Determination ignites Leo's gaze. "We can do it. The Archimedes sphere can upgrade the ship, I'm going to study those ancient scrolls we got. There's got to be all kinds of new weapons I can make. We're going to hit Gaea's armies with a whole new arsenal of hurt. Ara, you can help with that, can't you?"
The way he asks it's like he's saying 'It's the least you can do.' Ara's ashamed of herself for doing everything wrong, so she just nods in a silent reply.
Jason pats Leo's shoulder. "Sounds like a plan, Admiral. You want to set the course?"
"Yeah." The boy turns to the control board. "Festus, raise the sails. We've got some friends to save."
Ara approaches Nico when everyone scatters and lowers her voice. "This isn't over, you pale snitch."
Nico's eyes sparkle like he's almost pleased to be threatened. "Can't wait."
Everyone leaves her and Leo alone. They're all upset, but they know Leo should be the first to show it. Ara walks up to the control board and helps Leo in silence, they've done this so many times both teens know which task is theirs and which one belongs to the other.
Leo speaks, but he doesn't look at her. "I'm going to inspect the statue, maybe there's a weapon hidden in it or something—Athena must've known, but now that Annabeth's missing... we'll have to do this the hard way."
It's not meant to be a complaint, and it doesn't even sound like one, but she can feel the walls she'd crashed through six months ago slowly building themselves back up. Ara leans both palms on the board to stop them from shaking.
"I've been trying to gather up the courage..." she mutters, eyes fixed on the monitors, "every day since we left New Rome, to tell you about my prophecy. It's gotten worse."
Both teens are staring at their hands, but they can read each other just by the sound of their voices and the fluidity of their movements.
"Aphrodite came to me in a dream before we landed on New Rome, and so many things happened since then... I never found a good moment to tell you."
"You think I'm angry about that?" He frowns. "What's hurting it's that you're not sorry for almost throwing yourself into Tartarus."
Ara's hands feel unbearably cold. "I can't be sorry when the alternative scares me more."
Leo tilts her face, forcing her to look at him. "Nemesis said you need more than a fortune cookie to fix your problem—what does she know that I don't?"
Ara stares at him. "She knows about my prophecy."
"What does all of that mean?" He asks after hearing the lines.
Ara makes a face. "Percy's sword belonged to Hercules before it belonged to him. I prayed every night to get one as cool as his..." She pulls the compass out of her pocket and stares at it. "It feels so obvious now, how they made me believe it was my idea..."
"But that means you were fated to be a daughter of Olympus!" Leo submits kindly. "You worried it was above your skills, but it was always meant to be you."
"But the last lines," Ara shivers when she thinks about it. "By tearing earth into pieces..."
He tries to sound cheerful. "Maybe you'll blow Gaea up!"
"Or I could end the world," Ara squeezes the compass in her hand. "The truth is I no longer know what my prophecy is trying to tell me."
Leo sighs heavily. "When I opened that cookie..."
"You had no choice," Ara replies. "Nemesis told me Percy and Annabeth were the real sacrifices, I value them more than I value myself. When Janus came, I chose duty and sacrificed my family."
Leo's hand holds hers as if trying to will her empath touch to spit her anguish out to him. "You will have cause to reconsider your choices soon," he quotes, "that was the paper Nemesis gave you, right? This is the cause."
She nods. "And I'm reconsidering many things."
"But my sacrifice would've been you," Leo insists, almost pouting. "Why isn't the way I love you enough?"
Ara thinks about their curse. "We have unfinished business. Nemesis can't mess with us if the fates don't want her to."
His eyes soften. "I don't hate that thought."
Ara sighs. "You should know... something Hercules told me." Leo's fingers intertwine with hers. "He said I'd lose near the end. But he also said that I have room to become better in the meantime, even without the cape and Almighty, and that's what I'm aiming for."
Ara doesn't realize she's praying, but almost instantly, her body glows white as snow. Her eyes, for only a split second, are just like Annabeth and Lily's. This goddess is not fond of Ara, but she wants her to set things right. If she doesn't save her friends, there will be no mercy.
Leo scans her appearance curiously. "Who is that?"
"Hercules also said..." she continues, staring at her skin in surprise. "That the gods think I won't live long. Maybe I won't, but I'll go big under my terms... I think Athena likes that idea."

Melinoe allowing Jason to go on a nightly excursion to the surface. She sees a bitterness in him, small but doable, and she's still angry at Olympus so she sends him out to wander with everyone else and takes him back before the sun rises.
She just doesn't take all of him back.
The bitterness remains. The unfettered anger he always ignored, never acknowledged, pretended didnt exist. Disappointment in his sister, in friends. Rage at his father, his step-mother.
Bitterness quickly turns to vengeance the longer he sits outside of the underworld without the rest of him to reconcile it away, square it back to recesses of his soul and mind he doesn't dwell in.
He stalks along the coast, dragging storms with every ghostly step until he's at Camp Jupiter. Lightning storms set fires. Rain floods the plains. A righteous ghostly justice curls an eerie hand along the camp and into New Rome as he continues on.
The Hunters wake up freezing with torn tents. Their dogs have run amok. Thalia's diadem is shattered next to her. There's a threat in the claw marks around her shredded tent. I could've killed you, they say. But you weren't worth my time.
The Wolf House burns to the ground again. Anger festers so violently in him by then that it's only by luck the children inside make it out alive. By the help of wolves that are quickly torn apart in front of their horrified little eyes. How dare you help them and not me, the murder speaks. I was younger than them. I needed love more.
New York sinks quickly into view. Olympus ratchets up the Empire State Building. By now, news of his focused attacks has spread quickly across the Greco-Roman communities. Camp Half-blood prepares for an attack that never comes. Why would it?
No one there tore him into nothing. No one there rebuilt him into a perfect weapon, only to throw him away when he was unneeded. They gave him a home, people who truly loved him. Sure, he was abandoned by the friends he made there too but it wasn't their fault. Piper only left because she felt Hera had forced into loving him. And Leo only left because he felt he needed to die to matter, a consequence of terrible homes filled with people who didn't care.
A consequence of the gods.
The smoke gathers attention first. The smell of burning stalls and plants. Nymphs scream and cry next. They bleed out on the ground before withering away into flowers and tiny shrubs. Things shatter and break as a storm builds around him. He's inhuman now, a creature more than a ghost. Vengeance, pain, anger.
His teeth drip blood, his nails elongated. His eyes are electric. The door slam open. The portraits shatter. The thrones crack. He's a storm, whirlwnding forward for the culprits in his suffering. And they can't stop him from burning it all to the ground.
After all, what can a god do to a ghost?
His brother stands in all his godly glory and Jason hates it. How quickly will he forget the lessons he learned? Immortality paints time as a game. He'll forget what matters.
It's only Hermes' speed that saves Apollo from pure disintegration. Sure, he'd reincarnate, but, oh it would be painful.
He's a warhead on a mission, plowing down hallways and throwing back gods like toys. Lightning illuminates throughout him like veins. His father stands with lightning bolt in hand. His step-mother, the one who dangled him like steak over the snapping maws of a dozen wolves then cried as though he mattered to her, is by his side with a frightening silver sword.
This is their fault, he thinks. They created me. Lightning explodes like a bursting pipe. This is all their fault.
He feels nothing and tastes only victory. Godly blood stains the walls. But even as they fail to touch him, they don't go down easily. He batters them away and they stand again, joined by family, joined by friends.
Jason never had that. Abandoned every time he got close. Died before he could try again.
He was a child.
How dare they act like they cared.
How dare they call him their son.
"Jason." The voice cuts through his blinding haze like a train to the chest. He spins, his won personal tornado. Hermes stands, battered and bruised, beside Nico, who regards him a pinched look and an outstretched hand. "You're not supposed to be here. You supposed to be at home."
He doesn't have a home. He never did. Thrown from place to place. Home is where you are loved.
He wasn't.
He turns back to the people who took that from his. His father for letting him be born into an unkind world, to an angry mother, and for letting him be thrown to the wolves. His step-mother for throwing him to them, for taking his life and playing with it like he was a toy.
He was not a toy.
He isn't.
He's a person.
"I know you are," Nico says. His voice is patient and quiet in the thundering winds. It sings loud and clear through Jason's ears. "You're a good person, Jason. They didn't deserve you then and they don't deserve you now. You were worth more than what they gave you."
He was.
"Please. Let me take you home."
He can't. He's not done. But something pulls across his chest and he screams. Nico is unharmed as Hermes pulls him to safety, burned from where Jason's blast hit him, but gripping tight to Nico's waist.
Jason could remember that. Holding Nico, frightened and stressed out, carrying him across the skies to Cupid, to Eros. To painful confessions and anger.
He remembers how it sank out of his sink in angry shadows and grappling skeletons. And how Eros batted him away with forceful pushy winds.
"Kind of like you right now."
He stills.
"You tried to hurt me."
It wasn't on purpose.
"I can't leave until I have you in my hands, Jason. And soon my father will be here to do it himself and if he ends up injured because of you, I don't know if I can forgive you for that."
Jason stares at him. Why would he hurt his uncle? The god has done nothing to him.
"You're angry." Nico steps outside of Hermes' grasp. "Angry people do not make the best decisions. When I was angry, I listened to a homicidal maniac trying to come back to life. I almost got people killed. People who didn't deserve to die just because I was upset." He holds out his hand as Jason starts to float down. The ground scuffs the tips of his toes. Nico's palm glows back him. There's something familiar about the pulsing blue orb in his hand. "You're not thinking with your full capacity. You're a good person. You forgive. It is your best and worst trait."
Jason blinks up at him.
"It's time to go home, Jason." He pauses and glances down at Nico's glowing palm. Then sinks his hand against it, exhaling a breathless sigh. Nico smiles sweetly and pulls him close. "Let's go home."

This is a safe place for those of any marginalized community or from a non marginalized community, as long as you're not a dick.
If you are from a certain community and you find any of my works to be racist, sexist, xenophobic, ect.. please message me to see how we can work things out to make the fic better for everyone. Trolls will be deleted.
I don't have conversations in asks, if you wanna chat that needs to be in a public area of tumblr. Asks need to remain purely professional. This is for the safety of myself and you, thank you. Always remember internet safety.
Thank you for your time and requests can either be asks or comments down below. Remember that I'm far more likely to actually see an ask though, and it's up to your own personal call of what you feel is the better way.
All fics on this blog are gender neutral, I will not write a gendered one so that all readers can enjoy.
If I am overloaded on requests I will either reject your request or put in on hold. Requests are first come first serve. Thank you.
I may make another ask page for the other riordan series. It's just been a long time since I've read them and I'd like to refamiliarize myself with the books to write for the characters.

Things I would change about HoO, a list that no one asked for:
(disclaimer: this probably isn’t a full list, because I haven’t reread HoH or BoO in years)
Get rid of the racism.
Get rid of the Frazel age gap.
This goes along with the above one, but I would make Hazel 16. This would keep her the same age as the rest of the crew (who are all 15/16), and it would mean that Nico once again had an older sister. The Bianca parallels are ripe for tragedy (which is why I think RR avoided it).
Slow down the romance. Frank and Hazel don’t need to be together. Jason and Piper shouldn’t be together straight out of the Lost Hero. Their relationship should build organically throughout the books, finally resulting in them getting together towards the end of Blood of Olympus.
No Calypso subplot. That was bad. Have Leo accept that he does not need a relationship in order to feel whole.
Nico’s forced outing is recognized as a moment of trauma. I have no issue with there being problematic elements in narratives, if they are recognized as such (see: the forced prostitution in The Hunger Games). There should be time and care to acknowledge that Nico had just experienced something traumatic at the hands of a god. Rather than just have this moment there to count towards diversity points, it could have furthered Nico’s arc in the books, as well as contribute to further conflict with the gods, the seven, and specifically between Percy and Nico (more on that in a minute).
Four of them should have died because of the “only 3 to a quest” rule.
When Percy and Annabeth make it to the Doors of Death, they are alone (no Bob, because that was bad and dumb), and they need to decide what to do. They ultimately decide that they aren’t going anywhere without each other, no matter how much one wants to save the other. They close the doors together, and stay in Tartarus.
Once they close the doors, Hazel begins to fade, as her soul is forced back to the Underworld. This is where House of Hades ends.
Now, the remaining four (Leo, Piper, Jason, and Frank), have to decide what to do. This would also allow for the “going back to original POVs” thing that Rick apparently wanted with BoO.
Returning the Parthenos should be the first half of Blood of Olympus, rather than their miracle cure quest. The four of them should have to bring it back to Camp Half Blood (just cut out the Reyna and Nico bit entirely). The second half of the book should be the battle. This also gets rid of the incredibly dumb “all the hunters are killed” plot point (seriously, what the fuck was that?)
The main problem is that they don’t know if Percy and Annabeth are alive or how long they will stay alive. This means, they don’t know if they should expect one more of them to die, or three more of them to die. There’s a real sense of suspense and dread over who is going to survive this.
Nico is sent to try and get Percy and Annabeth out of Tartarus. This is how he ends up almost fading from Shadow Travel and Underworld magic. This fading is complicated by the fact that it’s literally how he just saw Hazel die. It is also further complicated by the fact that he is going to save Percy, the boy he has just been forced to admit feelings for and who has, once again, kind of caused the dead of Nico’s older sister.
Nico saves Percy and Annabeth, they show up in time for the final battle, and the six rejoice, thinking that the quest is over and they all survived. Percy and Annabeth can barely be a part of the battle though, because they are nearly dead from Tartarus, as is Nico.
Except, it’s never that easy.
Jason goes down first, assassinated by Octavian (paralleling how Gwen almost died in Son of Neptune, and mirroring how he was actually killed in TOA, only now he dies in the series he belongs to.) Piper then kills Octavian with charmspeak, showing its full power. She asks his heart to stop beating, and it does. It’s the exact opposite of when she brought Jason back in The Lost Hero.
In a moment of final solidarity, despite their previous antagonistic relationship, Leo and Frank come up with a plan to deliver the final blow to Gaia. Frank turns into a Dragon, and he and Leo fly up to Gaia, essentially engulfing her in fire as the raise her off the ground to destroy her. The fire ends up brining the rest of Frank’s stick (tie that plot point up), and Leo is exploded and stays dead this time.
The war is ended, but cue some mad survivors guilt for Percy, Piper, and Annabeth.

Few random notes about The Tower of Nero
(Spoilers ahead)
Nico. My poor boy Nico. Getting therapy from Mr. D was something I did not expect, but I’m glad he’s doing it. My baby deserves happiness.
The brotherly relationship between Dionysus and Apollo was something I did not expect either. I think I can finally understand better the god of wine and I’m glad for that.
Rachel and her brush will always be iconic.
Will is adorable. And the way he shines and then Apollo’s like “I’m so proud” and Will is there too flushed like “it’s not that I graduated med school with honors” and Apollo being a good dad for him like “I’ll be proud when you do that too” and I’m here like aawwwwww. But really, the fact that Apollo is proud that his son can shine is everything.
Will and Nico. They are so different and get along so good like wow. It’s amazing how they’re so perfect for each other. They know each other so much and they love each other so much and I love them so much.
There were two battle at camp Jupiter? Well, Percy and Annabeth are gonna stay in NYC. The battle is in NYC this time? Then Percy and Annabeth are going to San Francisco 😅 My babies deserve a rest.
Stelle is going to rule the world some day.
The cows... That was... so weird...
Also they mentioned Venezuela and I’m so happy for it.
Nico can kill just by touching people... WOW.
Meg is a little queen.
Her encounter with Nero was so heartbreaking but she was so brave...
Poor Lu.
“Nobody hits my boyfriend and nobody kills my dad”. Again: I love you, Will.
Apollo being sweet with his children was adorable. The compliment to Kayla and the cute little talk with Austin made me cry.
Also the other three new kids in the Apollo cabin meeting their dad. And Austin introducing them to Apollo like “they are the children you sired years ago, you probably don’t remember but now you do, you’re welcome” 😅 Also how do they know they’re Apollo’s children? He couldn’t have claimed them. Another god did for him? They’re just too good with arrows or medicine and make it too easy to deduce?
The other gods can watch him in a proyector in the hearth’s fire... Like, since when have them been watching him and laughing and betting against him? Since his trials started? That is so cruel, they’ve known Apollo for thousands of years. Hermes disappointed me so much, I really liked him. I expected no less from Ares tho. Also Poseidon was just there bored to the core and yawning like... You had that punishment before once too! And with Apollo! You know how it feels, you should care. I want to think maybe he was just too tired (if gods can get tired) because of the rebuilding of his palace but honestly what are the odds? The decline in Poseidon’s character is very sad.
Apollo walking to Python almost unarmed and alone was so brave. He couldn’t have gone like that in the first book and I’m so proud of him, he has grown so much.
“I missed the shot. Don’t even pretend to be surprised” I was not, Lester. At least you tried.
RIP THE ARROW OF DODONA! IT WAS A FAITHFUL PROJECTILE TO THE END! APOLLO MUST FALL BUT HE WILL RISE AGAIN!!!! HAIL HIS LAST PROPHECY!
Ehh did I mention Artemis? No? Well... ARTEMIS ARTEMIS ARTEMIS ARTEMIS ARTEMIS!!! The best goddess!! She was so worried 🥺 begging Zeus to forgive Apollo 😭 and screaming to Aphrodite... She’s so awesome I just can’t.
The description of how Apollo and Python fall to chaos was amazing. I never thought Rick would touch the subject of Chaos but it was great. The perfect end for Python and (of course) the perfect timing for the goddess of Stix to appear. At least she saw that Apollo has really learned the lesson. He must be true to all his promises from now on, specially the most important ones. He will remember. And the fact that Zeus can’t see to the Chaos? Sweet.
The way Apollo wept in his sister’s shoulder broke me. Poor guy, he has been through too much. And Artemis was there just so happy that he’s back and well and alive :’) she’s the best. “Not a cuddler, my sister. But she allowed me to hold her hands” aaawwwwww. Also the way she dressed him up into a dress was the most sibling-relationship-thing I’ve ever seen in a god/goddess 😅
“The gods awaited” is such a good phrase. Almost as good as “Release the Kraken!”.
I can’t stop thinking about the image of the tiny gods with Mickey Mouse voice “Welcome to Olympus!” 😂😂😂
“Wisdom, comes in handy” omg Athena.
If I thought before that Zeus was bad well now he seems even worse.
Why was Hera crying over Jason? Was she really grieving? Why? Doesn’t she hate every one of Zeus’s children? What did I miss?
The fact that Zeus doesn’t care about his son’s death 😒
Apollo visiting every single one of his demigods friends :’)
Hazel and Frank are finally free of their curses and living life like never before :’) I’m so happy for them.
Reyna seems so happy now with her bff Thalia hunting that damn fox. Also “no puedes decirle mamacita a una mujer, ¿entendiste?” was perfect 😅 I need more of Reyna and Leo speaking in Spanish.
Calypso enjoying school? Adorable :3
How doesn’t Apollo know if Georgie is his daughter or not? He’s a god now, he should now. He knew Thalia’s age just by looking at her, just saying.
I need lots of stories about the Hunters of Artemis, specially about what happened at the end with that fox.
The fact that Apollo knew Artemis was the only one there actually happy to have him back... And the wink at the end... I’m just obsessed with these twins ok?
Apollo bringing blue cookies to Percy was adorable. And Percy doesn’t know what to study, he just knows it has to be something with the ocean. I’m glad to see he doesn’t think about his phobia anymore. And Apollo’s concern about if Percy and Annabeth were going to share a bedroom or no 😅 hilarious. But that’s none of your business, Apollo. Annabeth told you herself.
Piper is bi! 😱 She’s finally happy (even missing Jason tho, don’t misunderstand me) with her partner and Apollo is so happy for her and she’s so happy for him and wow :’) too much cuteness.
The part with Meg was the most emotional. He even appeared a unicorn for her. “Will you come back?” “Always. The sun always comes back” and that’s the last sentence he says and it’s so beautiful 😭
The last paragraph killed me. It does every time I re-read it. Apollo I want you to know that I’m smiling on you too. Specially on sunny days. I’m very proud of you. We’re friends now indeed, and I’m glad for it.

Okay another tangent. Percy and Annabeth have the most scars out of everyone. I mean Leo has some on his hands from fiddling around with a bunch of tools and prices of metal, Hazel maybe having one where an ornery horse bit her at the stable Sammy worked at, Frank maybe having one or two because he was clumsy before growing into his big muscles, and I always imagined Piper having a few from a joyride that went wrong, and Thalia definitely had a couple, but her weapons all allow her to stay at a decent range most of the others, and Jason has the one on his lip, and maybe one or two from a quest when he was younger or from training and from the battle against Koios, maybe Will has some from wielding a scalpel whole covered in blood during the heat of battle, or from the Battle of Manhattan, but Percy, and Annabeth have been doing this the longest besides Jason and Thalia, and they’ve gone on more quests and faced more monsters and gone on morethan any demigod alive. And I can imagine, maybe one day maybe the others from Argo II ask about where they got so many, and they prepare to hear of the worst demons and creatures, then don’t expect the pain in their friends eyes, they don’t expect names to be attached to the scars, names of people they couldn’t save, of regular mortals who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Of times they almost didn’t make it back to each other. They don’t expect to hear about a scar on the face of a boy who started the first war they were forced to fight in cause no one else could. The only word they can use to describe the haunted looks and sad and angry words, and shaking hands, is trauma. They no longer romanticize scars.

AU where Nico dies (don't hate me pls I'm sorry I love Nico and ship the hell out of Solangelo, this is just to allow for some dark AUs) transporting the Athena Parthenos in BoO.
(Sorry it's such a long post) Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano, revered praetor and peace-loving daughter of Bellona, loses the ability to share strength. Now, when she uses her power, she saps your energy, draws on your bravery, and poisons your mind with horrific images. Nico's death has allowed suppressed traits to resurface and overwhelm all her progress since San Juan all those years ago. She picks fights. She becomes a dictator in all but name, abolishing the Senate and making War Games a lot more "realistic": weekly funerals become commonplace, words are spoken under breaths, and terror resides in the heart of every New Roman. And so, Reyna Ramírez-Arellano turns her brilliant mind and poisonous power to Gaea's aid. Gleeson Hedge doesn't seem more than a broken satyr at first glance, his smiles never sincere, his voice never loud, his bat never raised. But when he slips off into the wilderness, he does not sit quietly among the trees and reflect. He whispers into the trees' leaves, his twisted words echoing the bitterness that now consumes his being. He has been tricked too many times: Pan, forcing thousands of satyrs to lose their lives in their quest to find him when he was alive all along; Clarisse, who never tried to connect with nature or understand his own ties to the natural world, who teaches his child the game of death while Mellie watches, fading away, unable to fight back; the gods, who, in their promise of protection, conveniently ignored the nature spirits. He is bitterest about Nico's death: about all he could have done, about what the kid should have done. The glint in his eyes scares even the worst monster that Tartarus could send. But it is Gaea he turns his allegiance to. It is Gaea who promises that he will always be good enough for her. And so, Gleeson Hedge turns nature back to its true mother: Gaea. Hazel Levesque is not someone you want as an enemy. Her golden eyes, gold like the masks of the judges of the dead, seem to see everything. Her powers grow stronger, but now she is able to control them. One glance, and she can cause an entire legion to scream and writhe in agony as she manipulates the iron in their blood, twists their shining armour, forces weapons to turn on their handlers. She stops wearing normal, mortal clothes, and now she wears flowing dresses of molten gold and bronze that no spear could pierce nor hand touch. She calls on the remnants of metal in the cave in Resurrection Bay to rise, and rise they do, twisting and weaving together at her command to form a cathedral-like vault with a solid Stygian iron throne. At the front of her temple lies a chasm from which her first creation arises, complete and healed, at last. Alcyoneus clambers out of the pit, back with his mother's life and Hazel's burning desire for destruction. And so, after seventy years, Hazel Levesque joins forces with Gaea of her own free will. Frank Zhang's arrows are no longer aimed at Tartarus's monsters, but at the people he once considered friends. The ruins of the Zhang family mansion become a shrine to Gaea, the ancient walls falling in blissful happiness into the Earth Mother's embrace. Frank returns often with fresh skulls, unfailingly whole - his arrow pierces cleanly through the eye every time. His piece of firewood safe in Gaea's belly, protected where no flame could reach, he is unstoppable. His shapeshifting causes unforseen problems with the allies' plans, it's very hard to plan how to fight a lion when he could turn into a swarm of bees at any moment. He is the ultimate spy, a literal fly on the wall, and for once, he feels needed. He feels worth something. He feels as though he is good enough, something the gods could never give. All the gods ever did for Frank, he realises bitterly, is take. His mother. His grandmother. His self-confidence. His chance for a stable, loving family. Nico. And so, Frank Zhang finds a different kind of family, one that will not let him down, in Gaea. Piper McLean never wanted to be a tragic love story; that was purely for her mother's entertainment. She
cuts her hair short. She kills Gaea's enemies on sight. Her charmspeak forces even her old family, Camp Half-Blood, to turn against each other, brother against brother, sister against sister, until bodies litter the strawberry fields and the Big House crumbles to smouldering ashes. The gods have her no love. Their boundaries mean nothing to her any more. Her love extends to her favourite mother, her boyfriend, the rest of the Seven, Grover, Reyna and Hedge. Beyond that, it is poison. Gaea takes her hands, looks into her eyes, and tells Piper that she is more than the spawn of an unfaithful, air-headed immortal, more than the damsel in distress. She tells Piper that she is who she decides to be. And Piper agrees. Gaea gives her the opportunity to be out of others' shadows. Piper McLean takes the chance and joins with Gaea, her charmspeak almost her most dangerous feature, second only to her unbridled wrath when Nico's death is mentioned.
Jason Grace owes fealty to only one eternal goddess now. He scours the Underworld with Hazel and Frank, relentless like the wolves he was brought up with. He knows no bounds, his destruction barely controllable by even Piper and her charmspeak. He has obliterated entire cities, counties, even an entire nation. He feels no regret, no remorse, no nagging guilt. He seeks out and electrocutes homophobes as his powers grow in complexity, along with his ability to control them. No matter how much they scream, the same two words shoot from Jason's scarred lips like the lightning bolts he commands: for Nico. As the darkness inside him grows, the son of Jupiter advances on Olympus, eyes and hands blazing, to destroy his father, as one of Gaea's allies, as one of Gaea's found children. Jason Grace vows by Nico's soul and Gaea's love to destroy the gods who shamelessly abandoned them.
Percy Jackson has been close to the darkness before. As just one examole, he's controlled poison to choke the goddess of misery at the edge of Chaos. But now, Annabeth's words at the time - some things aren't meant to be controlled - strike differently. Percy doesn't follow rules any more. That brooding, troublemaking face now alludes to his new form: gone is the class clown, here is something more akin to a devil. Like Hazel, he has made hundreds of people and monsters shriek in pain as he controls their blood, contorting their bodies into unnatural forms and snapping necks with a mere snap of his fingers. If Nico's death is mentioned around the pair of them - Hazel and Percy - both turn on the individual, eyes smouldering with the deceitfully cool ashes of the fire of grief, and slowly unleash their wrath. Percy cannot be controlled. He wants revenge. Part of him wishes he had never given his mother the head of Medusa to kill Smelly Gabe; it tore him to pieces when he made the fluid in her head seep out of her eyes. But she wouldn't stop begging him to leave Gaea. She had to go. She was no longer loving him as he knew he deserved. Now, Percy Jackson takes his support from the mother he should have accepted long ago: Gaea.
Annabeth Chase did not accept powers from her new mother, her better mother. She chose to use her mind as her weapon and Gaea respected that. Gaea gave her the resources she needed to wreak havoc on mortals and immortals alike. Now, instead of studying for a stupid internship in a misogynistic, capitalist society, Annabeth unleashes her fury, her grief, her mind on the world. The gods deserve to pay for what happened to Nico. The demigods need to feel her grief. The mortals started this stupid cycle of overwork and inadequate pay. Annabeth is ready to work with the mother that respects her, that loves her, that nurtures her as she deserves. And work she does. Plan after plan is developed, improved, redrafted, mocked up, redeveloped, and finally executed with clinical precision. Her mind becomes what her enemies most fear, even above her reputation: first child of Athena in millennia to reach Arachne, retriever of the Athena Parthenos, survivor of Tartarus. And she laughs, laughs in a maniacal way that makes you want to take a step back as she strides towards you, grey eyes alight with an unnatural glint as you realise that she knows everything about you and she knows how this will end. She will not let herself or her friends die. She refuses to let another situation like Nico's death happen again. So, Annabeth Chase takes Gaea's resources and turns them into a mass genocide, executed with her new mother's blessing.
Grover Underwood leads the nature spirits now. He commands dryads to extend their unstoppable tendrils through the paths that Gaea forms for them, deep in the earth, then sending them exploding through the surface and reclaiming all that was torn from them under the pretence of friendship. His empathy link with Percy allows him some degree of control, both over the son of Poseidon and over naiads. Grover is betrayed and bitterly disappointed in Pan, in the gods, in demigods, in mortals, in Nico. And so, he turns nature back home with Gleeson Hedge. The hauntingly beautiful whistling of his pipes lures demigods, mortals, even gods to their doom. Apollo is the first to fall, trapped by the music of the satyr whose horns now make him seem diabolical as he dances in the flames. Grover Underwood finds his roots in Gaea and his revenge in destruction.
Leo Valdez wants to burn the world to ashes. There's not a moment he's not on fire, his hair smouldering, his skin aglow. At his feet lies Hera, trussed up like a rodeo calf, bound by the power of the guardian Leo knows he deserved as a child. There is no Piper with her charmspeak to free the ex-queen; at least, Piper is by Leo's side as he blasts her with his searing flames. There's a smile on Leo's face that rivals even Annabeth's as he torches cities, razes acres and lights up the sky with plumes of smoke and columns of fire. His reasoning feels etched into his heart: the gods let Nico die. The gods let us down one time too many. And so he lets the flames go. Gaea stands behind him, her hand on his shoulder, proud and respectful. She knows that he secretly enjoyed starting the war with New Rome. He has fire powers; it's only natural, and that Octavian is enough to drive anyone mad. So, Leo Valdez finally makes his peace with Gaea.
Will Solace goes out like a light as the news of his beloved's death is announced. He lies, broken and silent, in Gaea's arms, tears streaming down his face. He stirs only for Nico's name, and his eyes turn slowly to whoever dared say it. He reaches out an arm, eyes turning black, leaching all the colour from the surroundings as his whisper echoes: there is no hope. Behind him stands Gaea, a tear of her own on her earthen cheek. She feels his pain, raw and fresh. But she takes some of it onto herself. Will Solace shares his grief with Gaea now.
And so they stand, eyes alight and expressions dark and triumphant, by the side of the goddess who did not want to let Nico die.
Gaea smiles.

Writing Prompt: Nico Visiting Elysium
SPOILERS FOR THE BURNING MAZE AND THE TOWER OF NERO
The walk to Elysium was one that Nico was familiar with. Some days his feet would bring him there subconsciously, hoping to one day find his sister among the souls that resided there.
That day hadn’t come yet. But the heroes that were there were familiar with his presence, they weren’t bothered by the shadows beneath his feet, the tendrils that clung to his wrists, and winded themselves around his sword handle, ready to shoot out at his command. They didn’t blink an eye at the bags under his eyes, no matter how much sleep he got. When you’re a spirit constantly surrounded by death, you forget what life looks like. The same went for Nico.
It had been a while since he’d been to the Underworld to see his father and step mother, but the way the rubble crunched beneath his feet was almost comforting. He knew where the dips in the hill were, where to avoid the holes and minor chasms.
The environment and atmosphere of the Underworld began to shift the closer he got to Elysium.
Nico’s eyes adjusted to the brightness of Elysium, and the glittering blue lake where The Isles of the Blest resided. He shouldn’t have been able to enter through the gates, but being a child of the Underworld had its perks. The gates opened at Nico’s touch and Nico was greeted with the beautiful view of Elysium. For a home made for the dead, the place exuded a significant amount of life and light, yet it lacked the warmth real life did. It was beautiful in the way jewels were beautiful, sparkly and well-cared for, but not the way flowers were, in their life and their aliveness.
The trek to the pavilion where he usually met with spirits was hard, it didn’t get easier to see the spirits of heroes Nico had watched or felt die in battles he had also fought in. Every time he saw the familiar gleam of Hunter-silver he had to hold back a flinch. The flowers of Elysium were of gold and silver and Nico had come to the realisation that they were the only plants that didn’t wilt in his presence, it left him feeling an odd sense of pride as he picked one from the ground and placed it in his pocket for later. There was no breeze down here, yet the grass rippled in colours of the rainbow as spirits passed through, wanting to see why the child of Hades was present. Small voices called out to him beyond the gates, wanting to feed on his light, and his life but he pulled up a barrier in his mind, imagining a fortress to protect himself.
He stood in the middle of the pavilion and held out his hand. He wouldn’t need food to summon who he needed to speak to, he knew that they’d come.
“Jason Grace.”
His voice came out stronger than he thought it would. But he still wasn’t mentally prepared enough for the shape of Jason to appear so easily. He knew that Jason had died in his school uniform, but someone had taken the liberty to put him in a purple Camp Jupiter shirt, despite this, the colour was pale, as if all the colour had been bleached out.
Nico caught himself against a pillar as Jason’s form materialised by Nico’s feet. Jason was kneeling as if he was praying, head bowed and arms out trying to hold himself up.
“Jason?” Nico repeated.
The silvery outline of Jason seemed to grow brighter, before he rose to his full height. Nico tried not to stare, but it was difficult not to notice the gaping holes in his chest that glowed with silver through the purple shirt.
“Nico?”
When he was little, Nico had been taught by his mother and by Bianca that eye contact was important, it was rude if you didn’t meet people’s eyes when you were speaking to them. But over the years he had also learnt that in order to meet people’s eyes constantly, he needed to be prepared for other people to look into his eyes, allow them to see that vulnerability that he knew he showed.
Nico forced himself not to avert his eyes as Jason looked at him astounded, his wire framed glasses still sat atop his nose but Nico could no longer see his reflection in them. Everything about him looked the same, his voice too.
“Hi Jason,” Nico breathed, blinking hard. It was getting significantly harder to remain standing as Jason watched him. It had only been a couple of months since- but Nico hadn’t been able to bring himself to come down and search for him. It was a pain that reminded him all too much of the time when he'd just found out he was a demigod and his world had turned upside down.
“You’re angry with me,” Jason said, a small smile growing on his mouth. Nico let out a choked laugh and shook his head.
“I’m learning that grudges do me no good, especially against...especially against the dead,” Nico admitted. He waited for Jason’s form to blur into a corporeal version, but he remained in a hazy silvery state, like Nico was in the middle of an Iris message with him and Nico guessed perhaps they were; except instead of being miles apart and trying to communicate, it was the absence of Jason’s life and the existence of Nico’s that enabled them to talk despite Jason’s body being buried at Camp Jupiter.
“I always thought I wasn’t scared of death…when you’re a demigod of a prophecy you learn to be, and then Leo died, and I knew. I knew that whatever happened I had nothing to be scared of because he’d be here for me…”
“And then he wasn’t,” Nico filled in. Jason nodded, looking beyond the pavilion at the Isles of the Blest.
“I knew that he wouldn’t be here...yet, I don’t know, maybe it’s selfish to wish that I wasn’t alone-”
“It’s not,” Nico said firmly, standing up straighter to meet Jason’s gaze. With a sharp intake of breath he realised that he had slightly grown since he’d last seen Jason, and now he’d be immortalised at this height.
Jason seemed to notice at the same time, losing his train of thought as he looked down at Nico.
“You’ve grown taller,” he said fondly. Jason reached out almost as if he went to pet Nico’s head, but his hand passed through Nico, leaving him with a brain freeze. Jason noticeably winced and muttered an apology. The pain in Nico’s stomach was second to the odd feeling of familiarity. It had been many years since Nico had had an older sibling, and only recently had he become one again, yet Jason, in their small time period of knowing each other had grown closer than Nico would have thought. It was a nice thought, to think he had someone else watching over him, even if it was beyond the life he was currently living. Nico found himself thinking about Bianca again, the way he always did when he felt lost.
“I saw your plans for the temples,” Nico managed. He gripped the hilt of his sword, using it to ground him as his emotions began to unfurl, curling around him like a dark cloud.
“Apollo kept his promise?”
“He was adamant in doing so.”
Jason smiled, and it made him look younger, bringing a light to his face that should’ve been hard to achieve in the Underworld but he made it look easy.
“Will you try for the Isles?” Nico asked, and though he tried not to, fear laced his words as he watched Jason look at the island in question, a wistful look upon his features.
“Maybe…” Fear, as hot as lightning struck Nico in the chest, and he thought he was about to say goodbye to another demigod he had looked up to.
“But not yet. There are heroes here. Heroes that I fought with during the titan war, one’s I didn’t know the name of, same with the giant war. I think it’s time that I learned them.”
"Jason?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you still scared?" Absentmindedly Nico placed his hand in his pocket where he kept a small token of luck, the familiar groove in the old mythomagic toy bringing him a bittersweet comfort.
Jason tilted his head to the side for a moment, thinking before he shook his head.
"Not anymore, no."
As he spoke, his light began to flicker, becoming more of a mirage than anything. Nico poured his power into him, praying to his father for more time. He had so much more to say, messages to pass on, and- he just wanted more time.
“Piper she-”
“Is she happy?” Jason asked, interrupting. Nico thought of Piper with her girlfriend, and the life she was building outside of Camp Half Blood and nodded slowly.
“And Leo?” He continued. This time Nico thought about Leo’s easy laugh and his constant energy, bouncing off the walls, and his smiles around Calypso.
“Yeah he’s happy but-”
“And Reyna? Percy and Annabeth? Frank? Hazel? Are they all happy? Right at this moment?” The question almost took Nico by surprise but he wasn’t lying when he said his answer.
“Yes.” Images of the other demigods, speaking via Iris message, and on visits to each other's camps flashed in Nico’s head. Reyna and her pledge to the Hunters echoed in his head, an almost mirror to Bianca and Thalias. The pictures Annabeth and Percy had sent to Chiron when they had arrived at college, pinned on the board in The Big House. Then of his little sister with her purple cape, matching Franks.
“They’re happy,” he repeated, more sure of himself when he said it. Jason seemed to relax.
“And Thalia?” he asked softly.
“She’ll be okay,” he replied honestly.
“I never wanted to leave her.”
“She knows.”
“What about you, Nico? Are you happy?”
The question jarred Nico and he hesitated to answer, thinking hard about it. He thought about the haze he had been in right after Jason’s death. The nightmares that had resurfaced, the voices that called to him from beneath the ground.
“I want to be.” It was the closest to the truth he could get. Will’s face flashed behind Nico’s closed eyelids, and unconsciously Nico smiled and nodded with more certainty.
Jason smiled again.
“Then I’ll be okay.”

Dark Leo -Dark seven au part2
@reading0mens Hope you enjoy it, I put a bit under read more because it’s kinda long XD
Leo‘s world is shattered after Jason‘s death
He knows it was a storm or fire
He knows that his cheating death caused the fates to take Jason away
At Jason‘s funereal he cries into Piper‘s shoulder
The boy that told him he was important, that made him believe he was worth something was gone
His sorrow makes him burst into flames and as Piper lets go he sinks over his friends grave
Things only got worse from there
He can‘t look at Calypso anymore
She was the reason he cheated death after all
He thinks about how she always complains about him, never truly helped him as Jason did
He goes back to Camp half-blood not caring that there is a battle coming for the Romans
He couldn‘t help them anyway
He locks himself in Bunker 9 building machines to distract himself from the cruel reality
Jason Grace was dead and he was alive
Calypso tries to get through to him but he yells at her that he regrets having saved her
He doesn‘t mean because of her of course but it is still her that he cheated death for
Calypso leaves in tears
Leo continues building and as his hands work on inventions his mind goes to Hera
Why didn‘t she save Jason?
He was her hero, wasn‘t he?
The bridge between greeks and Romans
So what kept her from saving him?
Anger begins to rage in him
Maybe Jason was just a tool for her
A weapon she could use and then forget
A scream breaks out of him and flames start floating over everything
He begins to despise the queen of Olympus just like he once hated Gea
At least Gea never acted like she wanted to protect them
He feels a desire to make Hera pay, to play with her just like she did with him
He knows that he can't take revenge on Hera all by himself Isn't there an emperor in new york
A plan starts to form in his head
Nyssa brings him the news
Camp Jupiter beat Caligula and Commodus now only Nero is left
The only change for Leo to take revenge on Hera
He leaves in the early morning
He is not nervous only strangely excited
Finding the emperor was not hard he could oversee the whole city on his metal dragon
„What do you want demigod?“, Nero asks coldly sitting on his throne arrogant as always
Leo only smiles darkly „I want to treat Hera just like she treated me and my friends.“
Nero has picked up many demigods from the streets but this one is special
He has an almost feral look in his eyes like he would be ready to burn the world
„And how exactly do plan to do that? Nero asks his voice full of curiosity
After hearing the plan Nero allows Leo to stay
He has a big room full of machines, engines automatons
Leo loves it
He builds robots small ones at first but his anger makes his talents grow
Somehow he manages to equip them with laser eyes ten arms that shoot fire canons, their fingers made of blades
He makes other inventions to ones that he prays to one day use on a certain goddess
A part of him is terrified of his work but another screams justice for Jason so he continues
Two weeks later Leo gives Hazel and Frank a surprise visit
They are happy to see him, they are his friends after all
Leo laughs with them, jokes as if everything was normal
One night he and Frank even mourn Jason together
When he feels real tears form in his eyes he is grateful for Franks hug
He can tell that Frank wants him to feel loved just like Jason once did
He is thankful and when Frank leaves his firewood feels heavy in Leo‘s hand
The next day horns are blowing, demigods scream in terror
A huge robot army is threatening to enter new Rome
The Legion is horrified but they swore to protect the city so they get ready for battle
None of them is showing their fear when they stand between the robots and their city
Reyna and Frank stand before their cohorts but Frank is not too worried
Those robots are made of metal and he sees in Hazel‘s smile that she knows this too
The daughter of Pluto raises her hand to save those she loves
But then a voice close to her speaks up coldly
„Hazel stop “, She almost did not recognize it
Leo stands a few feet away eyes gleaming darkly, Franks stick lays in his hand
Franks feels a cold dread in his stomach
„Leo…...what are you doing? Frank asks unable to hide his fear
Leo lets out a pained humourless laugh, I‘m destroying the god's ego by crashing their glorious temples.“ he explains and Hazel feels her heartbreak at his words
How is this the same boy who made her smile with his jokes
Reyna curses“ How dare you betray us? After Jason-“
Leo interrupts her with a mad shout
„That's exactly my point! Jason died because Hera for some reason refused to save him. We are all just puppets for the gods don‘t you see that!“I'm trying to save us from them but if you don‘t surrender now I will be forced to let you suffer for the god's crimes.“, Leo explains his tone almost hysteric
There is silence for a moment
The robots stand like dead status, new Rome's citizens glance towards them from behind the barrier, the roman soldiers are glaring at Leo
„Romans don‘t surrender.“, Frank finally responds his voice brave, his eyes full of pain
Leo smirks like he expected that answer
His whole body bursts into flame
Frank falls to the ground as his stick is swallowed by fire
Pain ignites in his heart, he hears Hazel‘s scream
He looks at his girlfriend a hand stretched towards her as if to hold her one last time
She stretches her hand towards him as well, her mouth moving as she sobs
A weak scream leaves his lips when a Robots blade impales her neck the blade coming out bloody at her throat
Her hand sinks, her body collapses into a puddle of her blood and Frank‘s world goes black
Leo stares at their unmoving bodies
The stick in his hands is now only ashes
He knows he should feel something
He should feel remorse
Instead, he just feels empty
The gods could have saved them but they didn‘t
If the gods would just be better he would not have done this
The gods are to blame not him
So he joins the massager
The demigods are fighting bravely but nothing prepared them to fight eight feet high machines
Blades are piercing through their bodies, the fire burns their flesh, dozens get trampled
Leo is in the middle of it all shooting fireballs burning everyone who gets too close
A fireball hits Reyna‘s hair and the Praetor is doomed to a firey cruel death
Soon the city falls, Terminus barrier is not strong enough to hold the metal beasts off
New Romes citizens are slaughtered in their streets, their buildings, temples destroyed
Their screams ring in Leo‘s ears but he continues to fight
This is for Jason. This is for Jason
He keeps using this excuse even though a part of him tells him that Jason wouldn‘t have wanted this
When Leo the last screams finally have died new Rome is in ruins
On Olympus, the gods are raging
Their pride has never been attacked like this
Hera looks at Leo wandering through the dead city with worry
He was her hero once just like Jason but now he seems …..changed
Maybe somehow she could convince him to come back to her
She is his grandmother after all
So she goes down to him in the form of his old babysitter
Leo growls when he sees he sees her
„Now you decide to show up? After I slaughtered thousands of People? Wow you are a horrible patron goddess!“, He snarls
Hera looks at him in pity
„Leo I know you are angry but this is madness. Jasons death was in the hand of the fates and I couldn‘t do anything sometimes even we gods are powerless. Don‘t go down this road my hero it will only bring you to suffering.“ Hera warns but that only makes Leo more furious.
They are standing in the smouldering ruins of her city and yet all she can do is makeup excuses
„You ……..you are so arrogant Hera! First, you act like my protector, my babysitter for years and then you don‘t even save my mother, then you give me fake memories about my best friend and then when I‘m finally growing closer to him you watch him die too. I bet if I hadn‘t killed Frank today you would have done it! Jason Frank and I were just pawns whose lives you controlled and that you now don‘t need anymore!“, Leo yells his hands balled into fists.
Hera listens to her face showing guilty embarrassment
She is too lost in thought, that is why she sees the net that Leo throws over her too late
The strings are made of celestial bronze but when she tries to escape the net only grows tighter cutting into her skin
Leo smiles at her in amusement.
„I hope you enjoy your new home your high majesty., He mocks
Hera realized that this was all part of his plan
Destroying new Rome to get her attention, louring her here so he could capture her
„Let me go immediately demigod or my wrath-“. She is cut off when Leo gags her
He has enough to listen of listening to her
He just wants to visit Jason's grave one last time
Leo returns to Nero with his army and with Hera
She is carried by one of the Robots trapped in metal strings
Nero welcome Leo with open arms
This child is a blessing even better than Meg Mc Caffrey
He tells Leo that he wants to wait with his attack on the greeks
He wants the news about camp Jupiter to reach them first
Leo agrees and grins at Hera
The goddess tries to change from even her real one but the strings only golden
„They drain your godly essence. The emperors are no strangers to dark magic Hera. You won‘t get out of here unless I allow it.“, Leo mocks once he has taken her to his room
The image of Her lying helpless and restrained on the ground gives him chills of joy
He picks out a knife from his toolbelt, Heras's eyes widen
„Now let's see how you like being hurt without someone there to help.“ Leo muses and drives the blade into the goddess's arm.
He smiles at the golden blood and Heras agonized groan
He is going to have so much fun with her
Leo almost feels disappointed when Nero tells him that it‘s time for the attack
By now all demigods know what happened
Chiron evacuated Camp half-blood taking the younger Campers to safety
Nero knows it‘s only a matter of time until the rest disappears to
So Leo and the emperor fly to Long island alone with Festus who hold Hera in his claws
The robots are deactivated until Leo's command, Nero wants to give his enemies hope of winning
A handful of Campers is already waiting for them at the top of Half-blood hill
Leo winces when he sees Percy and Nico
He had forgotten the people close to Frank and Hazel
„Surrender or face the same end as your roman friends!“, Nero demands
Percy spits to the ground
Nico gets out his sword his eyes piercing into Leo soul
„Do you think Jason still loves you after what you did Leo?“, Nico asks coldly
Leo‘s heart feels like it‘s torn apart
Nico‘s words are the truth in the back of his mind. The truth that his lust for revenge drowned out
Jason, sweet kind Jason would never love someone who killed his friends
Leo feels panic, he has to move forward he has to distract himself from his thoughts
„Let that be my concern.“, Leo spats and drops Hera to the ground
Her body is covered in deep cuts, golden blood covers the strings
The attack begins
Leo decides to take out Percy first
He shoots fire but Percy uses the lake to his advantage
Water and fire clash together in the air squishing as they meet
Leo gets more furious
He creates big flames that lit the threes next to Percy on fire, tiny flames to grasp Percy‘s hair
Percy seems to be prepared for everything
He protects himself with shields of water and creates tentacles in an attempt to drag Leo to the ground
Their fight is hard, full of hatred and so none of them notices Nico‘s fight against Nero
Until the emperor screams while he's being sucked into the earth
Neros household, all young brainwashed demigods panic and run
Leo yells in frustration
Why did he choose such bad allies?
Nico collapses from the uses of his underworld powers, the grass around him black
Leo wants to take his chance and flames flicker from his hand#
But then a big hand of water grabs him and lifts him off his dragon
Leo is taken by surprise but soon blind rage follows
„Now!“, He hears Percx yell and when he turns his head he sees Annabeth cutting Heras net with Nico‘s stygian sword
Desperation and fear will Leo
„No please!“, He Beggs but Percy drops him on the ground without mercy
Hera although wounded immediately grows to full size her eyes blazing with fury
„I WARNED YOU MY HERO NOW FACE THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS.“Hera yells her form glowing
„No wait!“, Percy says his eyes widened in shock
Leo knows what is coming, he has seen it once before
Tears of sorrow, of fear, of anger stream down his cheeks
He wonders if Hades will let him see Jason again after he murdered his daughter
In a last attempt to turn his fate he reaches for his toolbelt
But then he stops
How can he destroy the greeks after they took him in after they tried to make him belong somewhere?
His thoughts wander to Piper and his heart is split by deep guilt
Leo Valdez opens his eyes and stares right into the godly flames that even he can‘t survive
His last thought is a prayer of forgiveness to all he has killed in his path for revenge
Leo is buried at Camp half-blood
There are a lot of discussions about it but no one can think of a better place
Hera assures the Campers that in a few years there will be new roman demigods
This does not help the losses though
Percy and Annabeth spend many nights crying with each other about their lost friends, their lost future
Will has to hold Nico for countless nights too, Has to remind him that he always will be there for him
Apollo becomes a god again
And in California Piper Mclean cries out her prayers to the gods
She prays for them to free her out of these new fake mist reality
She prays for them to let her wake up in a world where her best friends are still alive
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly I wished Hoo went more into the fact that frank Jasons and Leos lives were all controlled by Hera! That would have been such an interesting dynamic!

Kingdom Collisions XVII
masterlist; my links
CW: blood, death
Phew, when i first started this fic (way back when in august last year, i think) i didn’t expect it to become a multi-chapter nor did i expect it to go in literally any of the directions it went in. with each new chapter the boys cooked up something different and apparently more and more dark. nonetheless this has been one of the most absolute fun, exciting, and rewarding fics i’ve ever put out there because 1. i just kind of did whatever i liked with it (plot holes be damned) and 2. because the interaction i got from this fic was mind-boggling. Every plot twist brought a gasp, an angst gremlin, and a sweet supporter to my doorstep (i cant name anyone because you all swopped roles continuously).
when i started writing this chapter tbh i was dreading it because how on earth do i get myself out of the sheer monstrosity that i dug myself into in the last one? but i wrote some words and even though they were all wrong and it was only seven hundred of them at least i had written something you know? but then i was at the beach and the ocean water was shoving itself into my lungs and the salt was stinging my eyes and i literally couldn’t have been happier if i tried and suddenly i just kind of knew what i wanted to write... or rather i knew i wanted to write and these troublesome princes knew how they wanted their story to close. yes, indeed, close. somehow, without me realising it, we kind of got to the last chapter. i truly didn’t think this would be it but with each word i put down it just kept drawing closer and closer to a close. and i can’t force this fic to be anything but what it is. So, my dear ones, this is the last chapter of Kingdom Collisions. thank you for coming along, i hope with all my heart you enjoyed it even a fraction as much as i did. I love these Princes so hard and Nish, Gretch, and A can tell you how sad i was to see them end. Nonetheless, please enjoy!
Since it’s been a hot minute since the previous chapter, here’s a recap:
Prince Jason Grace stumbles from the mouth of the arena and falls to his knees in front of the platform.
“Kill him Perseus.” A voice glimmers around him, leaking in through the ringing in his ears.
“Come home Prince,” That voice lilts, “Do not die so far from the sea.”
Jason looks up at him, blue eyes hazy, a dagger loose in his clasp. “Hello Prince.”
Percy steps down from the platform, and takes the dagger from his husband’s hands. It is almost sickening how easily he gives it over.
The crowd stomps its feet: they are ready for blood; they are ready for slaughter.
He holds the dagger up, making sure it glints in the sun. And then he draws his husband close until there is nothing between their bodies, not space, not even air.
“Let’s go home my love.” He whispers. “We will not die so far from the sea.”
Prince Perseus Jackson brings the blade down.

We’ll never get free// lamb to the slaughter// what you gon’ do when there’s blood in the water
Prince Perseus Jackson knows he’s going to die today. It is not a feeling, or a morbid premonition. It is the cold, hard truth. If he does not the world will continue to suffer for it. And what kind of prince would he be if he allowed his people to suffer? His father would say he’d be a coward. His father did not know the meaning of the word until he screamed as a blade sunk into his chest. Percy wonders how a man made from the Rivers themselves, can die by knife. He supposes when you spend long enough pretending to be human, you die like one too.
All the same Percy must take his last breath today, before the setting sun has managed to hide for the night. Before the darkness can wrap around his bones like cigarette smoke, and keep him trapped once more.
But first, Percy must kill his husband.
The crowd is violent; their need for bloodshed a hyena’s cackle in his head. He cannot keep them out. He cannot keep them at bay. It drives into his blood, makes every dangerous drop slosh through him, as wild as the rivers of his father. As wild as the blue eyes staring him down.
Perseus Jackson looks at his husband, barely an inch apart, so close it seems no room is left for air. He can’t breathe, so it must have been pushed away, pushed out. Those blue eyes, as striking as the brilliant sky above them, are looking at him with so much… sorrow, love, joy, rage? He doesn’t know. He doesn’t know and it terrifies him. He knows and that scares him more. Prince Jason Grace is looking at him with delight and it makes him want to sin.
“I will find you again, my love.” His lips brush the sensitive skin of his ear. He feels that beautiful body shudder underneath him.
The musician’s box echoes with the notes of the wind, a melody that rackets around in his head, bouncing off the walls of his memories. He has died to this tune many times. Died as a king, and a peasant, and a squallor, and a whore, and every form of human scum and royalty alike. They all bleed the same in the end. All die with regrets on their tongue, and the unconquering falsehood of love in their hearts, as if that alone is enough to save them. He has never been safe from death. But love saves him all the same. He wonders if he will die again.
“I will not be lost.” Jason whispers back, so quiet, so full of sweet darkness.
Percy slams the blade into his Jason’s heart and watches as the light from beckoning eyes morphs into a smile that surrenders the world. He doesn’t acknowledge the warmth at his side. There is only his Prince, his husband, his other half, his, his, his.
“I will be waiting.” Jason Grace grins. Jason Grace dies.
Already he can feel the absence of his other. It is not a dull ache, nor a sharp one. It is not really an ache at all. Rather as if a veil has been placed over him, leeching the world of colour and light. Leeching him of any goodness. What is a destroyer, without his healer?
The Prince of Mare pulls the knife out of his husband’s chest and holds it up to the crowd. His smile dances, violence coating the angles of his face like a liquid mask. The colosseum responds in vigour, chanting his name, chanting the name of Princess Piper Mclean, chanting victory as if they’ve won. Dust begins to settle at his feet, settle then jump as they jump, then settle once more. And endless dance. He knows the score by heart.
“What you have witnessed today my good people,” The woman in power stands in her box, surveying the scene before her with triumph in her brown, glinting eyes. “Is the beginning of forever, again.”
The people cheer, clap, stomp their feet, make the stone underneath them quiver.
A drop of blood falls to the floor.
“We have completed what our ancestors could not. We have made sure that the threat— ” She sneers at them; at him in his bloodied rags, and the husband still in his arms, limp and fast growing cold. “The threat of Our Downfall may never rise from the ashes.”
The deafening sound of celebration is a vice around his throat. He wants to rip the air from their lungs, make their joy a noose around their necks. They celebrate the loss of a life as if it were the birth of a thousand more; they celebrate the death of his husband as if they had won the war. But they have never seen war. And his past selves, rushing up to him in these moments, like reeling pictures, smile at the prospect. They seem to gather in his mind, grinning with endless terror and say, so very softly, “You think this is war? We’ve only just begun.”
We’ll never get free// lamb to the slaughter// what you gon’ do when there’s blood in the water
“My people,” Piper’s voice is a lull in the tides, a blind comfort to distract from the storm ahead. “We have severed the wings of a phoenix so it may never rise again.”
The crowd stomps, he stomps with them. A fissure runs under his feet, small, unnoticeable. Blood drips down, down, down, into the cracks. There is nothing left for him here. He smiles, soft and small. It is a smile only he knows exists.
With a gentleness he does not possess for anyone else but the man before him he lays his husband down, wincing as the dusty platform touches that beautiful golden skin. But he does not have time to make it clean. To give him a worthy place to rest. He only has right now. Eternity is a second in itself.
And when Prince Perseus stands, straight and unburdened. He reveals the last piece in a twisted puzzle. For sticking out of his own side— the side his prince was pressed against— is a dagger of his own. One that is killing him slowly.
The people are still cheering, Princess Piper is still revelling in her glory. She looks ethereal up on her dais, every bit the goddess she craves to be. Her brown skin shines in the brightening sun, her black hair flowing down, down, down past her hips, swishing at her thighs. And the crown that sits on her head, perched there as if it was too scared to be trapped to such power, glints almost menacingly, jewels reflecting onto the people closest to her. To the woman at her side. Annabeth, sister to Jason, lover to Piper, and honorary daughter of Hekima, sees him. Sees all of him and goes as pale as the moon. She grabs her lover’s arm, points a shaky finger in their direction, at the blade in his side.
The look of horror on their faces is almost enough to make him laugh; it’s certainly enough to make him smile. He watches on as their plans unravel, remembering the deadly words Piper had said to him all those days ago. “Instead we will kill one of you and keep the other continually alive.” But what good would that do, if he had killed them both, if he made sure his blood was smeared across his husband’s wound; if he made sure his husband’s blood could not be used to heal them. He has become the destroyer they so badly wanted.
Prince Perseus Jackson falls to his knees, at the symphony of a princess’s screech. And as he looks to his side, his fingers find the cool hand of Jason Grace. The sky is a lover’s blue. He closes his eyes. He finds his husband amongst the dead. And ever so slowly, the colosseum starts to crumble. For the blood from his wound seeps into the cracks running rivers of their own, and eats at the stone that holds the people, the power, the world. He has become his father. His mind is fill of his own stories, just like his mother. He feels the cold band on his husband’s finger. He becomes life.
We’ll never get free// lamb to the slaughter// what you gon’ do when there’s blood in the water
The walls behind her turn to dust in slow motion. She sees particles fall, land at her feet in never-ending waterfalls. Her gaze tilts to the sky where she half expects to find it raining blue, as if the whole world would collapse on top of them. She can hear the screaming, she doesn’t known if it’s joy or fear. Sh doesn’t know if anyone has realised what’s just happened, if they know the true extent of her failure.
“PIPER!” That voice is so far away, but it is one she recognizes. One she has loved since she was left on a lover’s bench ten years prior. “We have to go, we have to stop it from reaching the water.”
A pale hand gestures in front of her, to the crimson rivers speeding across the ground. They are the prettiest canals she’s ever seen. She wants to—
“PIPER,” The time for shock has gone, and in it’s place is a violent need to save herself, to be saved. “We have to get out of here, this whole place is going to come down.”
When she looks to Annabeth, grey eyes bright with fear, she is struck with feeling so deep she fears she may drown. It wouldn't’ matter; she’ll be dead before she gets to submerge.
“My people,” Her voice is loud, blessedly steady, as she surveys the uneasy crowd who are only now noticing the red brooks bubbling up to meet them. “We must leave here at once. The colosseum is no longer safe. I urge you to go home to your famililes, to pack important things and make your way as far from the oceans and rivers as possible. Danger is here, and it is not a force we can fight.”
A thousand eyes look at her, emotions blatant on their faces ranging from denial, to anger, to fear, to the worst of them all, resignation. Those are the ones, she knows, who have lived through this before, in some way or the other. Whether in a past life, or the echo of their current one through stories carried down.
The ground underneath them shakes, making their feet stumble, their legs quiver. It is laughing at them, at the idea that they can escape this destruction. It has done this a thousand times before, it will do it a thousand more. The end has never been about them. They cannot escape it, no matter where they run, how hard they pray. And people are. Praying. They don’t know it is their gods who order this. Their gods who have no care for the lives of them when they can create a million more. In the end they are pawns to an endless game of chess. The first to be discarded, despite how hard they fight to prove useful. And Jason, her lover’s brother, and Perseus, her own ex lover, are soldiers sent to do their duty. Pawns themselves, maybe knights. But gods they have never been, and gods they will never become.
Annabeth’s hand is warm in hers as they race to their death. Her blonde curls fly behind her and Piper thinks it’s the most beautiful thing she’s ever seen. And then the princess looks to her and she changes her mind. With each glance, each step, each squeeze of their skin, she changes and changes and changes. Until the beauty cannot be pinned to a single thing, until it is a tapestry continuously incomplete, of all the features that make up her love. If she— when, when she dies she will do it with this image in her mind.
And then they’re at the river, the one that feeds her kingdom, the one that runs into to the forest and branches to the five other kingdoms, before feeding into Perseus’s own and out to the ocean. There is no red tainting it’s glistening blue. They have time, maybe, just maybe they have time to save the only home they have ever known, the only one they ever will.
We’ll never get free// lamb to the slaughter// what you gon’ do when there’s blood in the water
Quickly, with a haste she has never seen, Annabeth pulls a single match from her pocket.
“Will you grant me permission, my love?” Her princess nods to the little stick.
There is only one way to stop a stream from turning towards a river. She nods. “For the kingdoms.”
“For the kingdoms.” The blonde echoes. She strikes the match.
Sunshine yellow flame bursts from the small head, and as it settles it turns orange, blue, goes back to yellow. Annabeth lets it fall to the floor.
And they both watch, flames dancing in their eyes, as the little match catches a dry leaf, which catches dry wood, which catches, and catches, and catches.
They clasp hands, look at each other. Piper runs a finger down a freckled cheek, skin already so warm from the blaze before them.
“Let us live.” Her princess whispers.
They jump into the river. The forest burns to an inferno behind them.
But there, trickling slowly, as if it has all the time in the world, is a single stream of blood. It creeps through the forest, turning already charring soil to nothing. The fire jumps over it, around it, beyond it. The fire does not stop it.
A single drop of blood catches on a shard of blackened stick, once a match, and as the wind blows it carries the wood over over over. It lands in the river. The stick floats away. The blood spreads wide.
And two princesses, still hand in hand, frantically swimming for their life, start to crumble to ash, like the forest they had left to burn.
We’ll never get free// lamb to the slaughter// what you gon’ do when there’s blood in the water
Perseus Jackson opens his eyes to sky blue, ice blue, saviour blue. And he cannot help but smile.
“Where have you been, my love?”
“Just had to take care of some things before i could join you.” He reaches up a hand to caress a golden cheek, warm and reddening under his touch.
“Are we finally free?” That voice is so soft, full of angled hope.
“Till the next time.” He sees that hope startle and shape before him, as if it can bend to fit around steeled will.
“What shall we do while we wait?”
“As long as we are together,” He brushes back a lock of gold. “It does not matter to me.”
“Might i suggest, staying here for the next decade at the very least?” A laughing reply, one that heats him to his bones.
“Your wish,” His green eyes sparkle dangerously, deliciously, “Is my salvation.”
“Wicked, wicked being.” Lips find his, press to him. It is so familiar, and somehow new all at once. As if the shadows they are made from need to get used to the light within them once more. As if they have not done this for a millennia, longer.
“I cannot help it when i’m with you.”
“And you are always with me,” Those blue eyes set him on fire.
“Yes,” He says simply. He touches the golden chest, the heart within. His heart.
“What shall we be in the next life?” The question is soft against his skin, raising bumps across his arms.
“I think i shall be a painter,” He muses, lips falling to a shoulder. They trace their way up, catching on collarbones and the crook of a neck, and the dimple behind an ear. “And you, my sweet? How do you intend for us to meet?”
“I think i shall like to be your nude model.” That grin is enough to cause a flush through his form.
“And who will be our heroes?”
“The queen of course.” The blonde’s voice gets conspiratorially low, “I’m her favourite servant you see, and she cannot bear the idea of anyone else seeing me naked.”
He cannot hold in his laughter, the mind of his other half an endless stream of amusement. “And how do we intend to end it this time?”
“That’s up to you dear one.” The being curled into him smiles, “I can only heal, and you know i will only heal you.”
“You make me such a villian.” His expression is violent, and beautiful, so so beautiful.
“We have never been anything else.”
He stares into the face of eternal love and is struck by the thought that it is all for him, that it has only ever been for him. He cradles a golden face in his hand, and with a deep unhurried breath, kisses Jason.
For the infinite time in his endless life, Perseus tastes fire.

Skate Into My Heart
Chapter Three; Uh oh
BESTIES
I'M ALIVE AND I DID THE WRITING THING
@ciaraloves (or @perseusjackson-jasongrace ig) LOOK AT ME DOING THE THING
As soon as Nico left the locker room, Piper pounced on him. Literally.
He was forced to take a step back and caught her by the shoulders, “What’s up?”
She was practically vibrating with excitement, “Annabeth’s back!”
“Really?”
“Yeah! Come on!” She grabbed his hand and yanked him through the hallways and into the main rink where a crowd of people had formed next to the bleachers.
It was the rest of the team and in the center was Annabeth, a duffle bag slung over one shoulder, looking exhausted as all hell but she was grinning as the team peppered her with questions and play-by-plays of the practices she’d missed.
Piper shouldered them into the center so Nico was directly in front of Annabeth, Piper on one side and Calypso on the other.
“Hey, Nico,” Annabeth said, still grinning. She stepped forward for a hug and he let her, burying his face into her neck and breathing, already feeling the responsibility leaking from his tight shoulders. Annabeth was like a big sister to him, not that he’d ever admit that, but still.
“You want to get out?” Nico whispered into her neck.
“Yes,” She whispered back emphatically. Nico could barely stop himself from laughing but as they pulled apart he saw the genuine relief in her eyes and felt himself worrying. He needed to talk to her, about the team and skating, about Will and of course, if she needed to talk about why she’d been gone for so long, he’d do that too.
Apparently, Calypso recognized that too and, bless her heart, muttered something to Leo, and together they captured the team’s attention, allowing Nico to tug Annabeth away from the crowd and out of the rink. She sighed as soon as they were ejected onto the city streets. Nico stuck an arm out and she smiled and linked their arms.
“Where are you headed?” Nico asked as they walked the short distance to the car garage.
“Oh, probably just my apartment.”
Nico nodded, “I wasn’t sure if you’d be staying with your dad or not.”
She shook her head, “He doesn’t even know I landed yet. I’ll head over in the morning.”
Her voice was stiff and Nico took that as his cue to change the subject. “So I have something to confide in you.”
She perked up almost immediately and he swallowed hard. But she just looked at him with those gray eyes and he reminded himself that this was Annabeth. That she wasn’t going to get angry with him.
At least, he hoped not.
“I’m talking to one of the hockey players,” He said casually.
Her grip on his arm stiffened and he braced himself but she was still just looking at him.
Finally, she grinned, “So when you say ‘talking to’...”
He groaned and felt himself flush, “Oh, shut up! Just friends.”
She hummed and released his arm to dig for her keys in her jacket pocket. “Is he nice?”
“No, he’s a dick,” Nico said sarcastically.
Annabeth rolled her eyes, but she was still smiling. “I don’t know why I even bother.”
“He’s blonde,” Nico offered.
“Oooh,” Annabeth drawled.
He rolled his eyes and she burst out laughing, her voice echoing off the stone walls of the parking garage.
“Is he gay?” Annabeth asked.
Nico nearly flinched and passed it off with another eye roll, “I don’t know, Annie, that’s not something that’s come up in casual conversation.”
She glared at him and Nico, being the mature adult he is, stuck his tongue out at her. She did it back then shook her head. “Too much time with Percy,” She muttered and Nico snorted. She grinned at him.
“So he’s okay?”
That sobered her immediately. “Yeah. Well, as okay as he can be. I’m only here for like two weeks because he insisted I come back, but I’m leaving as soon as possible,” She glanced sideways at him, “Not to leave you alone again, though.”
He shrugged off the flash of selfish hurt he’d felt, “I’m good, Beth.” But he wasn’t good. He’d just told her about Will, and not even the start of the way his stomach would twist when he saw a new text from the hockey player and not the same twist when he panicked. And that also meant his chances of performing solo again were climbing. He didn’t know how to feel about that part.
“Stop that!” She exclaimed, halting once they’d reached her car.
“Get some sleep, Annabeth,” He said genuinely then smirked a little, “It looks like you need it.”
She threw a balled-up receipt she’d found in her bag at him, “Dick!”
~~~~
“Hey, Nico.”
Nico nearly leaped out of his skin, spinning to see Persephone in the living room.
She snorted, “Didn’t mean to scare you, sorry. Did practice go well?”
His phone buzzed in his pocket, “Yeah. Annabeth’s back.”
Persephone hummed, reaching up to untwist her hair, sending it cascading down her shoulders, “That’s good. I know you’ve missed her,” She said with a knowing look in her eyes that made him shift uncomfortably.
“Yeah, definitely, um, I’m tired we learned some new moves for Regionals today, so,”
“Yeah of course.” She was still smiling.
“‘Night Persephone,”
~~~
Nico flopped face-down onto his bed with a groan. He knew Persephone though he had a crush on Annabeth; he didn’t blame her, he’d never really made it a point that he didn’t. He wished he could come out to her and his dad, he didn’t really have a reason why he hadn’t besides the weight of anxiety on his lungs.
His phone buzzed again, and he wriggled upright to yank it out of his pocket.
Will: Distract me
Will: My mom is driving me insane
Nico grinned to himself, both of them were dealing with mommy issues at the moment.
Nico: idk how you expect me to distract you
Will: Just tell me about snakes or smth
Nico: you think i just have fun facts about snakes on hand?
Will: Yeah?
Nico: good
Nico: cause i do

Will: Good lord
Nico: snakes have internal ears but not external ones

Will: Do something ‘respectable’
Will: Not turn out like my dad
Will: Even though dad has literally NOTHING to do with hockey
Will: And in my opinion he’s not bad. Not great. Not awful yk
Will: But hockey’s what’s putting me through med school so

Nico: and you can always talk to me, will
Nico: you’re not burdening me with shit
Will: thanks <3
Nico didn’t understand why he blushed. It was a goddamn emoji. Calm down, Di Angelo.
Will: So we’ve been talking for a few weeks now. Can I call you my friend yet?
Nico snorted, feeling like he was fifteen again, sprawled on his bed, in the dark (because for some reason he didn’t turn his lights on) late at night, texting his- well, anyway.
Nico: yea dumbass
Nico: we’re friends
Will: Nice
Will: Now give me cheetah facts you adorable nerd
~~~
WILL
“Will? You good?”
Will blinked, Jason coming in to focus in front of him. “Uh, yeah.”
“That was believable,” Clarisse said sarcastically from behind Jason.
Will attempted to shake the fog from his head, “Yes,” He repeated.
Jason just blinked at him and Will was formulating an excuse for why he was so tired besides the fact that he’d spent all night talking to a cute figure skater with a ridiculous amount of animal facts stored in his small body when Coach Hedge’s voice boomed from his seat on the bleachers, “Solace! You alive?”
“Yes, coach!” Will shot back.
“Then why are you just standing there? Get back to the game! You too, La Rue and Grace!”
“Yes, sir!” They all barked back.
Clarisse gave him a once over before skating back to her goal and Jason went over to Will’s spot with him, “You sure you’re alright?”
“Yeah, just tired.”
Jason opened his mouth, probably to question why the mom friend of their group was tired enough he nearly tripped over his stick but Will just said, “It’s fine, Jase. It’s not a big deal.”
“Grace!” Coach Hedge screeched.
Jason gave up on trying to interrogate Will and skated back over to his spot.
~~~~
“Mama, please,” Will tried, but his mother cut him off.
“Willaim. Hush. How’s that girl you said you were dating?”
What?
He was silent for a beat too long.
“Oh, baby,” His mother’s thick southern accent drenched her words. “You broke up? I’m so sorry.”
Oh gods, Lou Ellen Blackstone.
Will and Lou Ellen had dated for two months a long time ago, and when they were still dating he’d told his mother about her to get her to back off of his personal life a little. Their break up hadn’t had a huge fallout, Lou Ellen had told him through tears in his living room that she was aromantic. They were still friends, had been even before they dated, actually, and talked to each other pretty regularly.
But the problem was, that had been three months ago, and he hadn’t told his mother about their breakup. He knew she’d ask why, and he didn’t want to out Lou Ellen or make her a devil in his mother’s eyes. So he’d procrastinated coming up with a reason until he’d forgotten about it entirely.
And now it had come back to bite him in the ass.
“Yeah we broke up a little while ago,” He forced himself to sound choked up, which wasn’t hard, giving the way his panicked brain was now sprinting in circles on his lungs. “I just didn’t disappoint you.” Probably the most honest thing he’d said in weeks, but that’ll be unpacked later.
“Honey,” She sighed sadly and Will didn’t know whether or not that was on his behalf or hers.
“Well, it’s okay, because I’m dating someone new.”
“Oh?” He could hear her spine straighten. “Is it someone I know?”
No, mom, it’s not one of the country girls I grew up with.
“No,” He winced at how southern he sounded. He’d been talking to his mother for five minutes. “You don’t know him.”
HIM. Good Gods, Will. Yeah, you came out as bi to your mom, but still, you haven’t actually mentioned a guy to her yet.
She was silent for so long his heart joined his brain in the track meet happening on top of his lungs. “What’s his name?”
He was so she’d spoken that he blurted, “Nico.”
What. The. Fuck. Willaim.
Apparently, his heart had won that damn track race.
“Well, what I was leading up to before you told me about what happened,”
Will hummed non-committally, trying not to sound like he was taking relieved breaths as she spoke.
“The family’s come for a reunion and you should bring that boy!” Will choked on his spit.
“Mom, I don’t know about-”
“No, William. There isn’t a set date yet so we can work around your schedule,” Fuck. “I insist, Will. I need to meet this boy you clearly like very much, even though all you’ve said is his name, a mother knows.”
Umm, what.
“Sure,” Will said, sounding a little strangled. “But we have a game this weekend.”
“Alright, William.” She sounded the way she always did when he brought up hockey. “But as I said, we can work around your schedule and his. Talk to him about it, and let me know.”
“Yeah. Yeah,” Will repeated. “I’ll do that.”
She hung up and he was left staring at the wilting daisies at his kitchen table.
What had he just done?

Chapter 1
Persephone Jackson felt like she could not breathe. They’ve been fighting for hours and the giants still haven’t shown up. And considering that the gods haven’t appeared to help them fight their battles, she couldn’t help but feel relieved.
Where the hades were they?
Fuck, her whole body was aching with pain and the headache she got a few minutes ago (probably due to dehydration) was not helping.
Her legs and arms could stop working any second. They were running out of time. Where were the gods? They did not risk their lives to travel all the way to Greece just so they could stay cuddled up on Olympus.
Percy was getting slower. She was tired. A glance at the battlefield showed that the rest of the seven were getting affected too.
The ground began to rumble. Percy forced herself to conserve any energy she had left.
The giants have finally arrived with another army of monsters. Percy hoped that this was going to be the final battle but it was unlikely.
After defeating the giants, they'll still have to fight Earth itself, Gaea.
Luckily for them, the gods have finally managed to grace them with their presence. Percy suddenly felt her energy rush back to her. She glanced up at the sky. It was raining.
While Percy was thankful for the water, it would probably do more harm than good during the battle. The demigods weren’t water-resistant like her.
As if knowing what she was thinking, her father snapped his fingers and suddenly the rest of the seven weren’t soaked with water anymore. It was still raining but the water just avoided them.
The demigods waited for the army to run up to them, wanting to conserve as much energy as they could before they realized that they weren’t as tired as they were before. They glanced at their respective parents in surprise, giving them a silent thank you before they got ready for the fight of their lives.
Percy was a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. It was like she had her Achilles Heel again, nothing could touch her. The rain continued to supply her with energy as well as giving her more power to use. She was playing a dangerous dance, her sword was slashing and stabbing monsters left and right, as she made a whirlpool of water and made it go the opposite direction she was heading, right where Hazel was.
Hazel sent her a thankful smile as they fought together, back to back as they made their way towards Annabeth.
Percy couldn’t help but be relieved when she saw the grey-eyed girl. Her wise girl was okay. Fighting next to Annabeth reminded Percy of the Titan War.
They survived that, so they have to survive this as well.
Percy sent another whirlpool of water in the direction that Piper was. “Remind me to thank your dad for the small boost of power he gave us.” she heard her girlfriend whisper.
Percy nodded, “But first we have to survive, okay?”
Annabeth nodded in agreement. “Okay.”
Jason flew down to where their group, holding Leo in his arms and Frank quickly followed, changing back to his human form.
The Seven were all back to back. Ready to defend each other’s blind spots.

Hazel snapped her fingers, making a majority of the monsters confused. This gave Piper the opportunity to charmspeak the monsters.
Her soft, angelic voice echoed through the battlefield, appealing to their enemy’s ears. “You don’t wanna fight us. You wanna leave the seven of us alone. Instead, you want to get revenge on the ones that have wronged you. Isn’t that why you sided with Earth? For revenge?”
Piper glanced at Hazel and Hazel nodded, closing her eyes in concentration as the snap of her finger seemed to echo in every monster’s mind.
It worked. A majority of the monsters were fighting each other. This gave us a moment to catch our breath.
Percy glanced up at the sky. Rain was still falling and the remaining monsters were soaked. She had an idea.
“Jason,” she whispered. “Shock them.”
His blue eyes looked at me with confusion before nodding, understanding what the demigoddess wanted him to do.
If there was one thing Percy learned during science class, it was that water and electricity do not go well together.
Jason’s sent a shockwave towards the final group of monsters heading out, causing them to evaporate in golden dust.
She glanced to where my father was. They were just standing there, watching us.
Did they not learn anything from the last war?
Did they even help other than agreeing to give the rest of the seven my father’s temporary blessing?
Percy felt the ground rumbling again. The giants have finally arrived.
She smelt the ocean next to me and knew that my father and his family had finally decided to help.
With the gods on their side, the demigods knew they wouldn’t lose this battle. Percy fought harder than she ever fought before. She matched the giant from toe to toe and after a few minutes, Percy finally got the opening she was looking for and slashed Polybotes’s chest with Riptide. She nodded at her dad as he held up his trident, sending a steaming, hot pressurized bolt of water in the place where Percy slashed him. Polybotes wouldn’t be a problem anymore.
She finally got a chance to look at the battlefield and she tried not to flinch in shock.
It wasn’t looking good. So far, Percy and her father were the only ones who’ve killed their respective giant.
Her father stood next to her, “So, who are we helping first?”
Percy tried not to look shocked at the fact that he was gonna stay in help and managed to steadily say, “Let’s help Athena and Annabeth first. With me and Annabeth fighting together, we can help Piper defeat Periboia. And if you and Lady Athena decide to stay, then all of us will be able to have a bigger chance of surviving.”
Percy turned away from her father so that she couldn’t see how her father reacted with her silent jab at him. Instead, she ran to where her girlfriend was, ready to help her fight Enceladus.
Percy tried to use the water to hold the giant’s legs so that Annabeth wouldn’t get stepped on.
The water was getting harder to control. She wouldn’t be able to hold it any longer. Suddenly, Percy noticed that she wasn't using up as much energy anymore. It was like the water had gotten easier in control.
She glanced up and saw her father with a confident glint in his eyes. She muttered a thank you and let the water she was controlling go, leaving her fate up to her dads.
Together, Annabeth and Percy charged. Percy lifted Annabeth with water so that the blonde girl could temporarily confuse the giant.
Thank gods, for Annnabeth’s aim. She managed to throw her new drakon-bone sword at his eye, making him stumble.
Her father let go of the water he was controlling, causing the Enceladus to fall on his butt. This gave Athena the opening to stab him right in the chest.
He exploded in golden dust.
She inspected the battlefield again and couldn’t help but sigh in relief. They were winning.
Leo and Hephaestus managed to defeat Otis by using fire to burn him alive.
That’s one less giant to worry about. Three down, three more to go.
She turned to her dad and Lady Athena, “Go help Jason and King Zeus, they’ll need all the help they can get when fighting Porphyrion. I’ll help Piper defeat Periboia.” She turned to Annabeth, “Go help Leo and Lord Hephaestus with Ephialtes.”
Annabeth nodded, “When this is over, you better be alive Seaweed Brain.”
Percy couldn’t help but give her girlfriend a small smile, one that she returned before running to where Leo was.
From the corner of her eye, she saw Athena disappear in a flurry of owls and saw her father dissolved in mist.
She took a deep breath and ran to help her sister in all but blood. Aphrodite was floating around them on a small white cloud, throwing rose petals in the giantess’s murky brown eyes effectively making her blind for a few seconds.
Percy blocked a strike that could’ve killed Piper, “Need a hand?”
Piper nodded, “Yes please.”
Aphrodite noticed Percy and yelled out some nice encouragement, “Kill this ugly dumpster wanna-be, girls.” Doves came from out of nowhere and clawed on the giantess, “I’m gonna need to wash my eyes with bleach after this battle. I’ve never seen anyone as hideous as her.”
The giantess growled in frustration, “WATCH WHAT YOU SAY, YOU LITTLE BIT-“
While the giantess yelled at Aphrodite, Percy and Piper slit the giantess’s stomach open with their respective weapon, leaving the bane of Aphrodite at the mercy of doves.
Percy noticed that there was only one more giant left to beat. The bane of Zeus, Porphyrion.
Percy was running out of energy. Luckily, every giant except one has been beaten.
Unluckily, it was the strongest giant.
Aphrodite flashed Piper and Percy on her cloud, allowing both Piper and Percy to catch their breaths for a few seconds.
While Zeus and Jason looked like they haven’t slept in a month, Porphyrion stood tall, looking like he just woke up from a nice nap.
“Oh gods,” Piper muttered worriedly, looking at Jason. “This isn’t good.”
Percy studied Jason more intently. He was covered in blood due to all the cuts he had all over him yet not a drop had fallen on the ground. Jason tried to stand tall but the giant only laughed. “This is the great son of Jupiter?” his words echoed through Percy’s skull. “Pathetic.”
Jason charged towards the giant but he only smacked the blue-eyed boy away. Before Jason could hit the ruins, Percy raised her hand, cushioning his fall with the water.
Zeus looked at her with gratitude and while having her a subtle nod.
Percy jumped off the cloud, allowing the wind to carry her next to her uncle and as if they rehearsed it, they charged.
The rest followed. Athena and Annabeth were distracting the giants as Aphrodite summoned more doves to claw the giant. When she deemed that there were enough doves, she threw rose petals at the giant’s eyes. Trying to get him temporarily blinded.
Percy stared at the giant's feet and yelled to her father, “HIS FEET, WRAP IT IN WATER.”
Poseidon followed her instructions and she turned to Zeus. “Throw a lightning bolt and aim it on the water. That should shock him for a few minutes and that’s enough time for us to kill him.”
Her uncle nodded, pointing a finger at the giant's feet. Porphyrion groaned in pain as the demigods charged.
But of course, something had to go wrong. As they charged, Porphyrion somehow got enough energy to throw a broken piece of a building towards them. Percy dodged it but Hazel wasn’t as lucky.
It was silent for a few seconds before Hazel’s blood-curdling screams filled the air. Percy bit back a cry. A person that she could proudly call her younger sister was gone.
Blinded by anger, Frank turned to an eagle and flew with the speed that could make Hermes jealous.
But charging in like that was a mistake.
And Frank paid for it.
It didn’t matter how fast Frank tried to attack the giant. All Porphyrion had to do was hold his arm up, to catch Frank in his hand, and crush his fist, effectively breaking all of Frank’s bones and killing him in the process.
He slowly opened his crushed fist, as if teasing them. After a few torturous seconds, he dropped a pale, limp eagle as Frank’s blood dripped into the floor.
The ground rumbled. They haven’t been fighting Porphyrion for five minutes yet two people are already dead. And Gaea could awake at any second. She had the two sacrifices she needed. The blood of a male and female demigod.
It was like Percy’s brain was working against her. As she attacked the giant, the noises around her became muffled before quickly becoming inaudible. All Percy could hear were Hazel’s painful screams and the sound of Frank’s body being crushed.
It shouldn’t have been possible, Percy’s brain tried to argue. Frank couldn’t have died until his stick was nothing but ashes.
Percy quickly shook that thought out of her head. She can figure everything out when the bane of Zeus has been defeated.
Minutes have passed and Percy finally saw an opening. She mustered up all the energy she had left and made a giant slit on the giant's stomach, covering her with even more gold dust.
Without wasting another second, Poseidon sent a stream of pressurized water on the wound, causing Porphyrion to yell in frustration, “IF YOU END UP KILLING ME, I’LL TAKE AT LEAST ONE OF YOU WITH ME!”
From the corner of her eye, she noticed that Zeus was preparing to send a bolt of lightning to the giant but before the lightning hit Porphyrion, he reached out his arm, trying to grab the closest demigod next to him.
It felt like Percy was fighting Kronos again. Everything was in slow motion except for the moves of her enemy.
She began to run forward but her moves began to get sluggish. “NO!” Percy managed to yell, realizing who the giant had grabbed. “ANNABETH!”
It was too late. Annabeth let out a scream full of pain and it continuously echoed throughout Percy’s skull.
Porphyrion exploded in golden dust, forcing Annabeth’s body to slam against the rough concrete.
Percy quickly ran towards Annabeth’s motionless body, stumbling forward as she kneeled next. Her usual tanned skin was now sickly pale, covered with burns. Her stormy grey eyes seemed to tell Percy all the suffering that she went through.
She cradled as much of Annabeth’s body as she could, not being bothered with all the blood that Percy was exposing her tattered shirt to.
Annabeth was gone.
And she didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye.
Percy felt the ground shake underneath her. Before she forced herself to get up, Percy closed Annabeth’s eyes as a final sign of respect to her girlfriend.
Percy felt the ground shake again. Although this time it was more violent, knocking down the old temples.
Piper’s usual bright eyes were full of tears, causing Percy to realize that she was crying as well.
Percy turned to Leo who was wiping away any stray tear that left his eye. His cracked voice seemed to echo through Athena as he whispered, “There’s only four of us left. Piper needs to charmspeak her, I’m the fire. And,” His eyes drifted to Jason’s body. “You guys have to make the storm.”
“Where are the gods?”
Piper and Leo glanced at each other. “They left. Right after we defeated Porphyrion the gods vanished.”
“Like poof.” Leo sadly added.
They lost three of the best demigods of this generation by fighting against Porphyrion, how could the gods expect them to defeat Gaea with no help? Or at least without all the demigods dying in the process?
“Uhm- guys,” Piper’s voice snapped Percy out of her thoughts. “We better get ready.”
Leo and Percy turned to where Piper’s eyes were focusing. The dirt seemed like it was rising, forming the shape of a female.
“Gaea,” Percy whispered. “Do you guys remember the plan?”
They nodded hesitantly as they made their way to Jason’s body, which was still in a cocoon of water. Percy lifted her hand and slowly made the water evaporate.
Piper hesitated before she whispered a shaky, yet firm command. “Wake up!”
Jason’s eyes opened and he groaned, What happened?”
“She’s awake.” Percy ignored his question, “Do you remember the plan?”
Jason nodded, trying to stand up before he quickly fell again. “I can’t stand,” he whispered in shock.
Percy tried to stay strong. “It’s okay,” she tried to soothe. “When we win this, I’ll force Apollo to heal you.” Jason gave her a grateful grin, “Do you think you have enough energy to fly all of us up?”
Jason shook his head, “I only have enough energy to fly two people up and if I have to carry her up as well, then maybe I can carry one person.” He grimaced. “Although that might be pushing my luck.”
“That’s not good. And we know that gods chose to sit this battle out.” Percy let out an ear-piercing whistle before muttering a small, “Hopefully that’ll work.”
Two pegasi formed in front of them. “That’s never happened before,” Leo mentioned.
Percy nodded in agreement. The gods sent us, Blackjack transmitted in Percy’s head. They said the ancient laws forbid them from helping any more than they already did.
Percy forced herself not to roll her eyes. What a bunch of bullshit. Instead, she faced her friends, “Piper and I will take Blackjack. Leo, will you be alright with Spade?”
Leo turned to the white Pegasi and nodded. “Aye, aye ma’am.”
Percy and the others exchanged grins. Even in the most dire situation, you could count on Leo to make a joke. She turned to Jason. “Whatever you do, make sure she isn’t touching the ground.”
Jason nodded. “We got this. We can win.”
Percy didn’t know whether he was that confident in his abilities to win or if he was trying to convince himself.
It was probably the latter.
Percy turned to Piper who’s been quiet so far. “You ready?” she asked.
“Yep.” Piper played with her torn shirt, “It’s just a lot of pressure.”
Percy understood what she meant. So she grabbed Piper and Leo’s arm, tugging them closer to Jason and herself. “Group hug.” Her voice was hoarse and it cracked. She was thankful that they ignored it and just melted into the hug. “I love you guys.” She reminded them. “I’m so lucky that I got to meet all of you.”
One by one, the rest of them repeated her gesture. Deep down, they all knew that this was their way of saying goodbye. Just in case they didn’t make it out.
Percy helped Piper up on Blackjack and she gave Jason a final glance before instructing her pegasi to fly to where Gaea resided.
On the mound of dirt, Percy saw a figure standing.
Gaea had such delicate features on her face that it would’ve made her seem innocent. She had honey brown hair that framed her face, bringing out her dangerous green eyes.
Her voice was sickly sweet as she said, “I’ve been waiting for you.”
“Yeah, well. We’re here.” Percy heard Leo sarcastically say, “So, you ready to lose?”
“Leo Valdez.”
“That’s my name.” Leo cheekily grinned, “Don’t wear it out.”
Gaea continued like she didn’t hear the elfish boy, “Out of everyone who died today, I’m surprised you’re still alive.”
Even though Percy knew Leo was trying not to let that bother him, it did. And from the smirk on Gaea’s face, she knew it as well.
Before things could further escalate, Percy yelled “NOW!”
The winds around them picked up forcing the pegasi to fly higher, in order to not get caught.
Percy felt the winds twisting around, forming a tornado underneath the primordial.
Leo tried to distract Gaea by hurling insults at her. “HEY POTTY SLUDGE, OVER HERE!”
The goddess ignored Leo until Piper finally spoke up, her kaleidoscope eyes glowing. “Gaea,” her voice was commanding. “You want to listen to me.”
“SILENCE!”
“You are weary.” Piper’s voice was full of sympathy, “You are so, so tired.”
“LIES!” Gaea yelled.
Leo gave up on insulting the goddess, instead threw fire at the goddess. Distracting her from the tornado forming below her feet.
With Gaea’s attention on Leo, Percy began to assist Jason in lifting Gaea higher. She summoned water, slowly adding it to his hurricane.
Gaea began to rise higher. And they followed.
“YOU CANNOT DEFEAT ME.” Gaea’s form turned to dirt but the water that Percy added caught it before it reached the ground. Seemingly giving up on trying to go through the water, Gaea re-formed back to a human. “I AM ETERNAL!” she cried
“ETERNALLY ANNOYING!” Leo yelled as he urged Spade higher.
“Get me closer.” Piper urged Percy, “I need to be next to her.”
“The fire and the wind-“ Percy tried to argue.
“I know.”
Percy sighed knowing there was no talking Piper out of this as she moved in until they were right next to Gaea.
“FOOLISH DEMIGODS!” her face contorted into Annabeth, causing both Piper and Percy to hesitate for a brief second.
“Millennia of sorrow.” Piper told the goddess, her voice dripping with pity, “Your husband, he was abusive wasn’t he?”
The goddess started to nod before stopping when she noticed what she was doing, “LIES!”
Piper continued, seemingly unfazed. “You know, you did the right thing.” Gaea turned to Piper shocked, stopping all her attacks. “Cutting him into tiny pieces so that he can never hurt you again. After all, you just wanted to keep your kids safe, right?”
Percy’s eyes met Leo’s. She concentrated, forcing rain to slowly fall from the sky again. Percy made sure not to let the rain touch Gaea so that all her attention would stay on Piper.
Leo’s eyes were tight shut and Percy felt the air becoming warm. You could still hear the rain hitting the pavement in the background. Put together, the two of them just made the atmosphere perfect for sleeping.
Everything was relying on Piper now.
“All that pain. All that suffering.” Piper’s voice was soothing. “It’s no wonder you’re so tired.”
Gaea snapped out of the trance she was in. “I-YOU DO NOT-“
Piper pretended not to hear her and continued. “You want one thing.” Piper’s words made Percy’s bone shake, “Just one small thing. You’re just so tired of all the stupid and arrogant gods and demigods getting in the way.” Piper lowered her voice. As if telling the goddess a secret, “YOU—WANT—SLEEP.”
“NO!” the goddess groaned. “NO!”
Before Gaea’s body went limp, she held out her arm.
Piper quickly turned to Percy, “We only have a few minutes. My charmspeak won’t- AGHHH”
A thorny vine was creeping up Piper’s leg, trying to drag her down.
“Piper!” Percy screamed, “Give me your hand.”
“I- It’s too late.” Piper gasped in pain, the thorns twisted their way into her leg.
“No, it’s not.” Percy tried to argue, grasping Piper’s hand tighter.“ We can’t lose you too.” she turned to Leo. “Can you try to burn the vine?”
Even from afar, Percy could see Leo’s eyes tearing up. “No.” He whispered. “If I do, I might burn up her whole body.”
“Percy.” her attention went back to one of her closest friends. “Let me go.”
Percy felt the tears falling from her eyes as she shook her head. “NO!” she cried. “I can't! Not you too.”
Piper’s eyes were filled with determination as they met hers. “Don’t let our sacrifices go to waste.” She took in a deep breath. “Percy, let me go.”
Without hesitation, she let go. When Percy realized what happened, she tried to reach for Piper’s hand.
But it was too late.
That’s when she noticed Jason flying towards his girlfriend.
He could save her.
Jason forced the winds to carry his body to Piper’s. He managed to grab onto her waist, but the winds failed him and gave the vines a chance to wrap their thorns around him as well. They held onto each other as the thorns twisted into their body, tearing them into shreds.
“No.” Percy said in disbelief, “No!”
She felt Leo fly next to her. “Come on, Percy.” He gently urged. “We still have to defeat her. Piper’s right. We can’t let their deaths be in vain.”
Percy could only nod, she turned to Leo. He looked like he was made of fire. Realizing what he was about to do, she grabbed his arm. Not caring that it might burn her. “Leo, you can’t.” her voice was cracking, “You can’t leave me.”
“I’m sorry, Percy.” He patted Blackjack. “Make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid, okay?”
I’ll try. She heard Blackjack’s voice in her head.
“I’m sorry, Perce.” he gave her a regretful smile. “Just make sure to keep her in the air and trust me.”
Without another glance, Leo threw himself onto the unsuspecting goddess.
Blackjack tried to fly as far away as he could but as soon as Percy heard a high-pitched scream, she used all her leftover energy and dissolved her body into mist.
Gaea began to brightly glow so Percy grabbed Leo’s arm, covered his eyes, and vapor traveled them out before the primordial could explode in golden light.

Leo woke up and slowly stood as he tried to get rid of as much dust and ash as he could. He stumbled forward to the silent battlefield.
As Leo looked around, he finally noticed how bloody everything was. It felt like he crashed onto a cemented wall as his memories from the battle came flooding back.
Oh gods, he wanted to cry. They’re dead. They’re all gone.
Except for Percy. His mind argued. The two of them were the only ones left.
“PERCY!” he shouted. “ARE YOU HERE?” Leo continued to walk, his scratchy voice cutting the silence that the former battlefield was just enveloped in. “PERCY!”
A few minutes passed and Leo started to lose hope.
What if she’s dead? his mind whispered.
Stop it. He tried to argue, he couldn’t think like that.
Why? His head continued to taunt. If she’s dead, it’s gonna be all your fault. She saved you. She’s only dead because she saved you.
“No, no, no,” Leo whispered, pulling his hair. “NO! Stop it.” He screamed. “It’s not my fault.”
“Deep breaths.” He heard a familiar voice whisper. “In and out.”
He followed the voice's directions and his eyesight cleared up. “Percy!” he practically flew to her in order to give her a hug. “You’re okay,” he assured himself. “You’re okay.”
“Yeah, but...” her voice trailed off and Leo noticed that she was holding something or rather someone. “He’s not.”
Percy was holding a deformed eagle. Its whole body was crushed, “Is that Frank?” He couldn’t believe it, “How is he still alive?”
“His stick.” Percy reminded him. “It didn’t burn.” no one said anything for a while. “Leo,” Percy’s voice faltered. “There’s only three of us left alive.”
“Yeah?” Leo questioned, thinking that it was obvious.
“No, I mean-“ Percy stammered, “A few years ago, Chiron told me that the number three was sacred to the Greek world.”
Leo suddenly understood what she was implying. The three of them alive marked the end of their quest.
They won. But at what cost?
All of a sudden, a small stick- the size of his pinky finger appeared in Percy’s hand. It seems that even the gods pitied the son of Mars.
He watched as her eyes stared at the only thing keeping Frank alive, contemplating what to do.
They didn’t want Frank to go.
He was the only other person who understood what the both of them went through.
They were the last three demigods who survived Gaea but looking at him, Leo knew it would be selfish to keep Frank alive. Every bone he had was crushed.
He spent the last few hours of his life in so much pain. And there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t move. He couldn’t talk. Nothing. The least they could do was take him out of his misery.
Leo knew that Percy realized that as well when she hesitantly handed the stick to Leo, “Do it.”
And Leo did.
They could only watch as both the stick and their friend disintegrated into ashes.
Frank didn’t die in the hands of their enemy. Instead, he gladly died in the hands of the last, two trusted members of the seven.
As Percy and Leo watched Frank’s ashes disappear into the wind, they hoped that the souls of each demigod that died in this war made it to Elysium, where they can live in peace. They deserved it.
They said nothing for a while. The air was filled with a comfortable silence as they figured out what to do next.
“Do you have enough energy to get us back to the Argo II?” Leo abruptly asked.
“I think so.” Percy’s voice sounded so tired that Leo regretted asking her. After all, she did most of the heavy lifting in their fight against the giants. It was honestly scary. She fought with the precision of a goddess, it didn’t help that she had the looks of one as well. “Hold on tight.”
Leo felt his body dissolve before getting back together again. His mind felt dizzy as his feet touched the solid ground.
When his head cleared up, he noticed the familiar walls of his ship. He couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.
It was all over.
Percy moved near him, “What are you gonna do now?”
“I fixed Festus and I plan on using him to find Calypso. She’s on an island called-“
“Ogygia.” Percy frowned, “I met her once but after the second titan war, I used one of my wishes to get her free.”
“The gods suck.” Leo bluntly stated, “After the last giant was defeated they disappeared. Athena didn’t even check on Annabeth!” Percy nodded, “They did the bare necessity and then they left without even a goodbye.”
“You’re right,” she whispered. “If you find Calypso, tell her I said that I was sorry. I really believed that the gods let her free.”
“She’ll forgive you.” He assured, “And it’s not your fault anyway. And Percy?” She faced him, “I’m probably not gonna go back to camp. There are just too many memories and I can’t handle that right now.”
Percy nodded in agreement. “I get what you mean. I just want a break from the godly world. I don’t want to see any mythological creatures again. And if we head back to camp, the gods are just gonna give us another quest.”
They shared a look of agreement. There was always another quest.
“I don’t want to stay here any longer than I have to, so let’s just try to make ourselves look as presentable as possible. Then we can head on our separate ways.” He advised.
Percy closed the distance between them and gave him another hug. This wasn’t goodbye, they would see each other again. “Make sure you stay safe. If you ever need help, just IM me. It doesn’t matter if they’re watching, I’ll get there as soon as I can.”
Leo found himself saying “I will.” before they both went to their respective rooms.
Leo quickly grabbed his belongings, stopping in the Med Bay filling up a random backpack he found with all the supplies he needed.
He made sure that his belt was still on his waist and that it wasn’t loose. If worse came to worse, he could summon almost anything he needed.
With a final glance at the direction Percy went, Leo pressed a few buttons on the suitcase on his desk before throwing it out into the air.
“Come on, Festus!” Leo called out, “The faster we get out of here, the better.”
Festus lowered his body, giving Leo a chance to climb up. After making sure that all their supplies wouldn’t fall, Festus lifted them onto the sky, flying towards the unknown.

Why is Piper McLean Annoying?
So, I see a lot of people saying that Piper McLean is annoying for a variety of reasons like ‘She’s too obsessed with Jason’, ‘She complains too much’, ‘She’s too jealous’, etc. (and I agree), but I also realize that barely anyone really explains why, which I think is a bit unfair to the Piper fans, cause I’m sure they want to see our reasonings. So, I thought it was only fair to explain why Piper McLean is annoying.
First off, her obsession with Jason. I get that she likes the guy, but thinking about him every single paragraph gets really tiring after a while. It dragged the books and made them seem less of a hobby and more like a chore, like we had to get through the boring, tedious romance parts to get to the good stuff (which ended up disappointing). Of course Piper likes Jason, but her priority issues are what made her obsession with him so annoying. Like, doesn’t she have much more important things to do than sulk in her room whining about a boy? Like, I don’t know, train (which she only did in The House of Hades after Hazel told her to), plan for the final fight with the giants and Gaea, talk to her past friends and family in case she didn’t make it out alive, etc.? While all the other demigods were fighting for their lives, training their butts off, and working hard to make sure everything went smooth, Piper was sulking and whining about Jason in bed then complained that she was useless 💀 And I see a lot of arguments about why Piper’s obsession with Jason was fine, but let me make a counter-argument for each one- ‘She’s a daughter of Aphrodite’- You mean the daughter of Aphrodite who constantly claimed she hates Aphrodite and her children, is supposed to be the chill, down-to-earth one, and tries extremely hard to not be a typical daughter of Aphrodite? That one? I think the readers tend to forget that Aphrodite is the goddess of all love, not just romance. ‘She’s a high school girl’- A high school girl who was given the responsibility of helping save the world, and yet her boyfriend is the number one thing on her mind? I can guarantee you high school girls do not only think about their boyfriends. That’s actually quite a rude stereotype that Riordan fell right into. ‘She wants normalcy’- And of course she’s going to get that with the guy who can shoot lightning from his hands and fly. If she really wanted normalcy, she would’ve gotten together with a mortal guy, not another demigod whom she’s questing with. ‘The people who claim she’s annoying for her crush on Jason are the same people who’ve had crushes on a million fictional characters’- But do those people let those crushes define their whole life, get in the way of their morals, and are the only thing they ever think or talk about? Liking multiple people and being creepily obsessed with another are very different things.
Second, her jealousy over Reyna. I get that liking a guy and finding out another girl who’s known him for much longer also likes him is pretty jealousy-evoking...for a regular high school girl. But Piper isn’t a regular high school girl, she’s a demigod who’s supposed to concentrate on saving the whole world. Even in The Lost Hero, her jealousy and obsession was annoying (and creepy and honestly stalker-ish, like- wanting a guy all to yourself despite knowing your relationship with him was fake and completely dismissing the chances of any girl he might’ve known without ever getting to know him is pretty creepy) because even though she had just gotten introduced to the demigod world and had to adapt to it- she had just gotten introduced to the demigod world and had to adapt to it. How many people who just learned that gods, monsters, and myths were real and that they have to save their dad from a blood-thirsty giant and free a goddess from captivity or the world would end is going to think exclusively about a guy? That’s what makes it annoying. And even after The Mark of Athena when Jason and Piper were dating and Jason promised he wouldn’t leave her, Piper was still constantly worried about Reyna. Like, girl, don’t you have more important things to worry about? Like World War III between the Greeks and Romans? Or the literal end of the world? Or like, Armageddon? This also impacted the overall writing. During The Blood of Olympus, Frank and Piper were at a cave and Frank went in to get an ingredient for the Physician’s Cure, and the point of view was Piper’s, who sat outside waiting for him daydreaming about Jason and her friends. Frank was talking to his legendary shape-shifting ancestors and we got to read about a little girl complaining and sulking. That’s what makes Piper so annoying.
Third, her complaining. Piper fans often argue that everyone is allowed to complain about their trauma and you shouldn’t compare it to others...but there is none for Piper. She’s literally complaining for nothing. Oh, but her dad was neglectful and didn’t care about her!!!’ ????are we reading the same book??? Piper has had multiple flashbacks of her and her dad hanging out like going surfing, watching Tristan’s movies, reading Greek myths, discussing Cherokee stories, etc., and it’s obvious Tristan loves Piper very much. Everything he does is for her. It’s not even his choice to be busy, it’s his agent’s, and even though he’s super busy, he always makes time for Piper even though Piper constantly makes his life harder by getting herself in trouble despite knowing his job and life is already stressful enough. Plus the fact that no matter how much bad Piper did, Tristan never punished or got mad at her for it. The fact that she’s complaining about her private chef making her a gold-wrapped sandwich while a lot of the other characters spent their childhood having to wonder where their next meal was going to come from and complained about having things they didn’t have 5% of was what was annoying. There’s a difference between ‘comparing traumas’ and being flat-out insensitive (as Piper was). If I saw some spoiled rich kid complaining about their peanut butter-jelly sandwich being wrapped in fake gold by their personal chef right in front of a starving homeless kid, I probably would’ve thrown a rock at them.
The last and most annoying part- the genre. The number one reason people think that Piper is annoying is that we didn’t read this story for romance. We didn’t pick up a Rick Riordan book to read about romance and jealousy, we did so to read about slaying monsters and saving the world. The entire Heroes of Olympus series was 80% dragged romance and 10% super-rushed, unrealistic, and horribly-written fights that mostly consisted of dialogue that never took longer than five pages but should’ve taken up a whole chapter or more. I- and multiple other readers- couldn’t care less about who gets in the way of whom and who gets together with whom and who likes whom, I care more about the battles and superpowers. Readers pick up action/fantasy/adventures stories to read about action, fantasy, and adventure, not romance. Piper ripped the readers from the fantasy world just to pine over her boyfriend, and the fact that that was what made up the majority of the books (along with other dumb, rushed romances) and Riordan spent like two pages- again, most of which consisting of dialogue- on the final battle against the second most powerful deity in all of Greek/Roman mythology (only surpassed by Chaos himself) after spending a whole book on just the Titan lord is what makes Piper so annoying. In Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the romance wasn’t even a subplot. It was a minor add-on, but all throughout HoO the romance was the main point, and Piper was the center of that. Plus she’s the center of a lot of racism and misogyny in the series. That’s what makes her annoying, my friends.
And yeah thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Victorian Flash
A weird AU.
Location: 1860s London
Flash #1: Jason Garrick, age 70. Born in the 1790s, has been operating as the Flash since the 1810s. (Queen Victoria took the throne in 1837, and he also lived during the reigns of William IV, George IV, and George III.) In his civilian life, he works as a scientist and as a university professor. Married to Joan Garrick (neé Williams).
Flash #2: Bartholomew Allen, age 40. Born in the 1820s, became the Flash in the mid-1840s. Married to Iris Allen (neé West), a (in this time period rare) female journalist. Member of the City of London Police. Iris works for The London Gazette.
Flash #3: Wallace West, age 25. Born in the mid-1830s. Became Kid Flash at 10 years of age. Nephew to Bartholomew and Iris; works a variety of odd jobs. Married to Linda West (neé Park), a young Korean woman he met while traveling the world (with super speed). The two have twins, Jason and Iris West (both age 5).
Captain Cold: Leonard Snart, age 38. Born in the 1820s in Southwark, the son of a (frequently drunken) tinker, became Captain Cold in the mid-1840s after a freak accident led to his pistol gaining the ability to shoot out beams of intense cold. Already a thief, the Captain used this power to seek greater riches….leading him into conflict with the second Flash. Cold is also the de facto leader of the Rogues, who operate out of Seven Dials.
Golden Glider: Elizabeth Snart, age 33. Younger sister of Leonard Snart (Captain Cold); born in the early 1830s in Southwark. Elizabeth worked for a number of years as a dressmaker, but her true passion was ice skating...and through this hobby she met the love of her life, Roscoe Dillon, Esq (better known as the Top), whom she followed into a life of crime as one of London’s most notorious female criminals at the age of 26.
The Top: Roscoe Dillon, Esq, age 36. Born in the mid-1820s, the only son of a shrewd businessman who started up his own factory, making himself thousands of dollars. Highly intelligent (an Oxford graduate), Dillon nevertheless chose to go into a life of crime in the late 1840s (for what reason, no one was quite sure), putting his not inconsiderable talents as an inventor to use in order to do so. He subsequently fell in love with Elizabeth Snart, the younger sister of his ally Captain Cold, at the age of 28, and the two claim to be engaged.
Mirror Master I: Samuel Joseph Scudder, age 36. Born in the mid-1820s to a poor widow who worked as a laundress in the Whitechapel District. By the time he was eleven, Samuel had turned to crime in an attempt to support her, and, by the time she was killed by cholera on his sixteenth birthday, he was entrenched in London’s underworld. However, what made Samuel unusual was his remarkable scientific aptitude-something that allowed him to utilize mirrors in ways undreamed of by the educational and scientific communities, and also allowed him to help form the so-called “Rogues” of London’s Seven Dials. Samuel is also quite fond of smoking cigars.
Weather Wizard: Mark Mardon, age 37. Son of a tutor and a former governess; younger brother of Clyde Mardon, a famous scientist who was making groundbreaking work in the field of meteorology. Unlike his sibling, Mark was something of a wastrel, prone to gambling, drinking, and hanging around with unsavory people. His life probably would have gone by without him doing anything of importance had he not stumbled into his brother’s lab while fleeing his creditors. His brother had died of heart failure, but he had left behind a most remarkable invention-a wand that could control the weather. Mark decided to use the wand as a way to pay off his debts...by becoming yet another of London’s “Rogues”.
Trickster: James Jesse (probably an alias), age unknown (but likely in his early thirties). James Jesse arrived in London with a traveling circus in the 1840s….and promptly took up a career of pestering the city’s greatest hero, the Flash, seemingly because it amused him. Not much else is known about him; though he is an expert thief and con man. He also invented shoes that use the power of steam to let him walk on air.
Heat Wave: Michael Rory, age 42. Born to rural farmers in the late 1810s; moved to London at age 15 after the family farm burned down under mysterious circumstances. Worked for a number of years as a baker before his bakery burned down (also under mysterious circumstances) and he disappeared. He resurfaced a few years later, working with the Rogues and armed with an incredible gun that shot flames.
Captain Boomerang: George Harkness, age 37. Born in Australia in the 1820s; joined Her Majesty’s Navy as soon as he turned 18, where he managed to earn the rank of Captain. He arrived in London in the mid-1840s after being discharged from the Navy thanks to a leg injury that left him with a permanent limp. This limp did not, however, prevent him from making the decision to embark on a life of crime. Thanks to his use of the boomerang-a weapon whose use he had learned from the native people of the island on which he had been born-the papers gave him the moniker of “Captain Boomerang”, and he eventually joined the Rogues of Seven Dials. He has a noticeable accent.
Mirror Master II: Evan McCulloch, age 26. A native of Glasgow, Scotland, where he was born in the mid-1830s. Abandoned as an infant, McCulloch was taken in by a Mrs. McCulloch, who raised him until her death from scarlet fever. Orphaned again at the age of 16, Evan turned to a life of crime. When his crimes in Glasgow garnered too much attention, he fled to London, where he stumbled upon some of the technology that the original Mirror Master, Samuel Scudder, had abandoned. Quickly mastering its use, he was soon dubbed the second Mirror Master by the press and the police...something which brought him into conflict with the original. However, Captain Cold thought that the newcomer had potential, and invited him to join the Seven Dials’ Rogues-much to the frustration of Samuel Scudder. Has a noticeable Scottish accent.
The Pied Piper: Sir Hartley Rathaway, son of Osgood Rathaway, an Earl, and Rachel Rathaway, his wife. 29 years old. Born into extreme wealth, Hartley Rathaway was cut off from his fortune and thrown out of his parent’s estate at the age of 18 when he told them that, when he came of age, he planned to give away most of his money to London’s poor. While wandering through the slums of London (after being mugged twice), he stumbled upon a mysterious flute...one that enabled him to control the actions of those around him. He used the flute to steal money from his parents and then proceeded to give the money to the poor. He soon became famous as a Robin Hood figure, and his fame eventually led him to become a member of the Rogues...none of whom know he is still technically in line to become an Earl.
Axel Walker: Age 15; a native of the Seven Dials. A street urchin with sticky fingers; Axel idolizes the Trickster and wants to follow in his footsteps. Most of the Rogues find him annoying; just useful enough to bother keeping him around. His mother is alive, but is always working and seems unable to control her son, and his father is a complete mystery.
If any British people want to correct me on my geography, I would appreciate the help.
