So one of the more ambiguous parts of later MHA is Dabi's actual relationship with the league, and how he truly thinks of them, especially Twice.
In particularly, his extreme reaction to Twice death serving as the decisive turning point where he once and for all went completely off the rails as utterly nuts, leaving any bit of sanity behind, can be read two ways.
Either his words can be taken at face value, and he never gave a damn about the league, and was only pissed because twice was the single biggest ace in the hole for his ultimate goal, and his death put a massive dent in it, or he is simply coping with suddenly feeling real sadness and despair by distancing himself from Twice by saying of course i didn't care about him, of course I'm not in any emotional pain right now, and by extension emotionally distancing himself from the rest of the league(Who's potential deaths could hurt him just as much).
Adding fuel to this is how he seems to emotionally get and connect with Toga while burning down her childhood home.
Of these two interpretations, it's one or the other.
In any case, which do you find to be the more likely one?
I've wondered about this myself, and had to discuss it with my brother because I'm so conflicted about it. The thing that really stands out to me about the whole matter is that Dabi doesn't seem to blame Twice for falling for Hawks' deception and even tries to comfort the guy. I mean, in that situation -- Twice falling for a second time for someone who exploited his trust to hurt the League, and this time so disastrously that it might lead to the end of everything -- I'd probably have a level of anger at a friend for doing it, but Dabi purely blames Hawks and even acts like he's there to support Twice in the wake of the betrayal.
At the same time, I don't feel like Dabi is merely covering up his hurt at Twice's death. I think Dabi really is obsessed with his whole revenge quest, and he has such a degree of emotional detachment from other people that I don't believe he's capable of forming bonds and friendships the way normal people can. I don't think he could be such a proliferate murderer, and so blase about it, without that dysfunction. Honestly, I don't think Dabi values human life enough to make real friendships; I don't think he even fully values his own life, never mind that of his buddies in the League.
So I guess I'm splitting the difference and saying that Dabi is complicated in a very messed up kind of way, where he really is capable of seeing similarities between himself and others who aren't standing in the way of his goals, and can identify and express sympathy when they're hurt, but at the same time he doesn't really value those people enough to feel hurt from losing them. He's not a chess master considering other people as resources, he just has no capacity for grief.
Maybe the key comes down to Loss. Dabi no longer responds to it, perhaps because he already feels like he's lost everything, so all the comings and goings in his life are just rounding errors.
He can look at someone like Twice or Toga and say, "Hey, we were all hurt in the same way and that makes us cool (as long as you don't get in my way), but all of us are just dead men walking so I'm not going to climb out of my grave to attend your funeral."
Anyway, that's just my speculation. I think it's great that Twice's subplot climaxes in such a way that is so rich and rewarding for all the characters entangled in it. It makes us ponder them all in new ways, and so might be one of the best in all of MHA.

HEAR HEAR!!! LMK S5 SPOILERS!
i, as an individual human being with free speech, have just finished the fifth season of monkie kid, thus i have THOUGHTS that must be shared.
OK BUT TO QUICKLY ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN WORRYING ABOUT FOR THE LONGEST TIME- THE ANIMATION.
it's... ok!
Tumblr media
if anything, I GOTTA SAY, they are doing they're best! and it shows!
like okay, ofc the older seasons get better animation but like bro YOU GOTTA GIVE IT TO THIS ANIMATION STUDIO for sOmEwhAt keeping up with the animation!
One of the things I noticed is how they actually improve aimating the characters throughout the episodes, and that's pretty epic!
Tumblr media
NOW, i wanna address the writing of s5!
It takes a moment of pondering and such for me to cooperate my thoughts into a neat paragraph of words but ALRIGHT-
The concept IS GREAT. The execution??? eh.
Tumblr media
the first half of the show was OK, nothing more, nothing less.
the SECOND HALF of the show, now, they were cooking some really epic scenes, interesting concepts, damn good character interactions that *COULD'VE*, i say, COULD'VE been good, IF ONLY THE PACING was better.
here are some random nitpicks i have:
goofy ahh medusa monkie kid oc villian reveal was underwhelming, bruh- NOW HE'S COOL AND ALL, bro's got the sassiest voice ever oh fOR REAL THOUGH, BUT maaaannnn, he def could've used WAY MORE BUILDUP in the first five episodes of the season
that one samadhi fire episode with red son and mei was unneccesary, i think it exists just for dragonfruit content but in term's of shipping, the interactions between mei and red son weren't even that fluffy or romantic. :(
there are quite a few loopholes and, like, exxagerated moments that could've been fixed if the writers just paid more attention to, like ehhhhhh, u'll see moments here and now where the characters are kinda dumb for not doing this or that, etc
Tumblr media
the writing and climaxes in past seasons were DEFINETLY better than season six, but okay lemme just say tho, maybe im coping real hard but HEAR ME OUT !!!
SEASON FIVE IS GOOD ENOUGH.
Ya'll shouldn't ghost this season just because the animation looks worse.
This is kinda like a Monkie Kid S1 situation, in which the show was still finding it's animation groove and the story was still in it's early cooking stages but LOOK AT WHERE S1 GOT US (psst psst s2-s4 were FIRE.)
IN MY HUMBLE OPINION,
i believe that the story buildup for the upcoming sEASON SIX of monkie kid will be fricking epic.
ah aH AH- NOT TO MENTION that the animators will inevitably improve, too!
I SAY, GUYS, instead of dumping this show and roasting it for it's so-so season 5, i say we support the team and the show! Let's show the cast and crew that monkie kid is WORTH investing the time into making better! BECAUSE MONKIE KID IS A GREAT ANIMATED SHOW.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND LIKE GUYS i haven't even mentioned the silly little stuff i like about this show!
(those will be for future rants fr)
NEVERTHELESS. i've stated my case. please spread the word that SEASON FIVE OF MONKIE KID SHOULD BE WATCHED.
and i thank you.

Someone - Chapter 1
Tumblr media
image taken from @ patlmao on pinterest
Synopsis: Satoru became something to you during your school years together at Jujutsu Tech, which were ended abruptly when you were casted out from your clan and left the jujutsu world. When Satoru finds you again after years apart, you find out that you were something to him too. Maybe you still are.
Warnings: fem! reader, fluff, mentions of death within family/early trauma/kidnapping/murder, language.
Author's Note: I will definitely add that there will be spoilers for the first half of season 2 in this chapter, as well as some chapters proceeding this one. Also, I noticed that I kind of messed up with explaining your cursed energy, but I'm too lazy to explain/re-do any of it. Cursed energy is hard enough to describe as it is. You can heal shit really well. Boom. Also, here's chapter ooone. I'm really excited about writing this shit, but it's hard cause I don't want to get behind on my school stuff. The sacrifices I make... sigh. I listened to Opera House by Cigarettes After Sex while writing this. Literally might become the theme of the whole series.
Word Count: ~ 2.6k

Your stomach grumbled and grumbled, no matter how much you tried to ignore it. Eventually, you pulled your pink and purple comforter off and padded towards the kitchen.
Mommy and Daddy taught you how to make fish sticks. Take them out of the freezer, arrange them on your favorite plate, put the plate in the microwave (you pulled up a chair to stand on to do that), and press 1. Watch them spin, and spin, and spin. Take them out really carefully.
You sat in the chair you had stood on earlier, juice box in hand, fish sticks in your lap. Suddenly, there was a noise at the door, a jingle. Was Daddy home? Those sound like his keys...
No, it was a different man. He was old, much older than your parents. He stood in the doorway and stared at you.
"Want some fish sticks, Mister?" You held out your little orange plate that was shaped like a tiger's face. Mister said nothing. He just kept staring.
Then, Mister closed the door. "Is your name (y/n)?" Mister had a gentle voice that lilted over to you despite its deep timber and roughness.
"Mhmmmm," you hummed, sticking another fish stick in your mouth and licking your fingers. You smiled, taking a sip of your juice box. Your mouth was stained purple.
Mister walked further into the tiny house. It was the only thing your parents could afford. They were entertainers, after all. Two bedroom, one bath. Kitchen, living room, and a front porch. Nestled into the outskirts of Tokyo and surrounded by a bunch more tiny houses just like it. Mister glanced at Mommy's Kawai keyboard. You had just learned to play a C scale on it a week ago.
"(y/n), when did your parents leave?" Mister inquired.
"Uhhhhh... Daddy went to work. Mommy left a little after that. She told me I had to stay here," you replied, feet rocking back and forth.
"When did Daddy leave for work?"
"Mmm, Tuesday." It was Thursday.
Mister watched you finish your last fish stick. "(y/n), your Mommy wants me to take you to her. Is it okay if I take you to her?"
You finished the juice with a slurp. "Mommy said it's okay?"
"Of course, (y/n)," Mister said. He seemed really sad. You hoped it wasn't because you ate the last fish stick in the box.
"Okay!" You got up from your chair and took his hand.
One week later, you learned that your had parents died in an accident. Mister became your adoptive father, and you went to go live with him and his big, big family. You were only six years old.
___________________________________________________________
Once again, you four had been sent on another mission. Once again, the mission had been completed. Once again, the four of you were sitting under the piercing glare of Yaga-Sensei.
Once again, it had been Satoru's fault.
The school year was already well underway. You and your three closest friends were now second year students. The four of you had been sent to retrieve Mei Mei and Utahime after they didn't return from their assignment. We left our supervisor, and Satoru completely forgot to set a veil.
A few hours later, Yaga assigned you, Suguru, and Satoru to a new mission. Shoko was able to avoid it because she had left the gym moments before Yaga walked in to assign it.
This mission, in writing, was much harder than your usual ones. The Star Plasma Vessel, who was to assimilate with Tengen-sama, had her position compromised by two radical sorcerer groups. We were to go in, save her, and protect her for two days until her assimilation. Tengen-sama specifically requested Suguru and Satoru for the mission, but Yaga decided to add you onto it as well. Your reversal energy would be used in a worse case scenario to keep the Star Plasma Vessel alive.
After the first task of the mission was finished, Geto made tea for the both of you, handing you your cup before taking a seat on the couch across from yours. Debris was scattered everywhere after a hole had been blown from the outer wall of the apartment. The vessel, Riko, had her head in your lap as you gently pet her hair while her caregiver rested against your shoulder. Your reversal energy was already working through them and the room, creating a healing aura that extended to the end of the room and stopped before the Q combatant, whom Geto was interrogating with one of his curses.
You looked at the combatant, frowning. Geto had jumped out of the building to save Riko while you protected the caregiver from him. He was whining so much. It contrasted his ruthless facade from earlier.
The two of you met up with Satoru later. Riko and her caregiver, Kuroi, had woken up by this point. Riko was cute, cheerful, and bubbly, maybe a little full of herself in being the Star Plasma Vessel, but that just added to her charm. You fucking lost it earlier when she had slapped Satoru across the face, rolling on the couch and falling off of it due to your overwhelming laughter. Kuroi was the ice to Riko's fire, apologizing for her and explaining things to her every now and then. Her and Suguru were a lot alike, you thought.
Now, you, Satoru, Suguru, and Kuroi were standing around a dirty indoor pool at little missionary school. Riko's school. She wanted to go to class the same day she almost died and two days before she would assimilate with Tengen. Since it was what Riko commanded, the four of you had to play along. Of course, Geto still kept watch over her using a few cursed spirits.
"Lax upbringing at its finest," Satoru grumbled.
"After her assimilation with Tengen-sama, she'll never be able to see her friends or family ever again. Let her do what she wants," Geto countered.
Suddenly, Kuroi spoke up. "Riko-san has no family. They were in an accident when she was little. I've taken care of her ever since then."
Your heart panged at her words. Like you, Riko lost her parents. Unlike you however, she had someone set aside to take care of her.
Well, your adoptive father had told you he was under instructions from your father, his dear friend, to take care of you if anything were ever happen to him and his wife. When you were old enough to understand that an accident was a vague term, you mustered the courage to ask how your parents had died. A hit and run, your adoptive father had said, sipping from his sake. Your father owed someone money. When your mother learned he had been attacked, she rushed out to heal him. She was killed too. Their killer got away.
However, you had started to question your adoptive father's claims more and more. You were more independent now. You hadn't been to your home since your time at Jujutsu Tech. Your thoughts had started to wander without any Kamos to monitor them. Your personality had become more outspoken and vibrant. You had grown.
You realized you had never asked how your adoptive father knew your family. You didn't hail from a clan or important jujutsu family by any means. Your father wasn't even a sorcerer, so how could he have had connections to the Kamo clan?
"Satoru, hurry to Riko-chan's side. Two of my curses were exorcised." Geto's words broke your thoughts. Now was not the time to be pondering those things anyway. You had a job to do.
___________________________________________________________
The next day, you were in a shopping mall in Okinawa, picking out a new swimsuit to buy. Riko was at your side, safe and sound, flipping through two-piece tankinis.
It had been a day. Kuroi was kidnapped yesterday after Satoru saved Riko at the school. Riko insisted that she come with to save her, despite Satoru's attempts to scare her into staying. Seriously Satoru? Was that really necessary?
The top priority is her safety, ain't it? he had replied, slinging an arm across your shoulders and making you walk with him out of the alleyway. She'll chicken out.
Right, only because you're soooo scary. Your tone had dripped with sarcasm, causing him to smirk.
I bet I could knock off your socks, sweetheart.
That was the first time he had ever called you that. Recently, his teasing had become... charged. He had laughed when you pushed him away. You really hoped the nickname wouldn't stick, otherwise his taunts would start to become harder to ignore. Not like they already were.
"Uh, (y/n), can I ask your something?" Riko turned to face you, going through the rack of one-pieces you were observing to help you find something. She already had a swimsuit picked for herself. "How do you feel about Gojo?"
Had she been reading your thoughts? "What do you mean?"
"I mean, I assumed you two were together when we first met. So, when I asked Geto how long you two had been together, he said that you guys were just friends. I was really confused." Riko pulled out a piece, observed it, and then put it back. You choked after hearing her words.
"Really? That's funny. Well, I think Suguru is right. We are very good friends. I guess that's just dynamic between me and Satoru. In fact, I actually couldn't stand him when we first met. What do you think of this one?" You pulled a green one piece from the rack.
"That's pretty cute. But... are you sureeee?" You knew she wasn't asking about the swimsuit. She was hiding a smile, her eyes pressing and mischievous.
"Yeah, I'm sure... I think." You took the green swimsuit and handed it to her, but kept looking. "Satoru's probably just stressed right now with the mission. That's why he suggested the beach. He'll do anything to distract himself."
"Sure, and that's why he said he'd pay for whatever cute bathing suit you picked out. A distraction," Riko pressed. "C'moooon (y/n), you can't get any more obvious than that."
You just huffed, grabbing a blue version of the green swimsuit. "Nothing is obvious, Riko. You don't know him like I do. He's a little attention whore." You took the green swimsuit and held it up in front of you two, comparing it to the blue one. "Blue or green?"
"I dunno, maybe you should ask Gojo-"
"Blue it is." You cut in before she could finish, shoving the blue swimwear into her arms before putting the green one back on the rack. You frowned, there was no way she was right. Even if you did have feelings for him, your point still stood. Satoru teased you because it was fun. That was all he cared about. He was just taking it in a new direction. Satoru was never one to think about the future, either. Hell, you couldn't even imagine him having a girlfriend, let alone that girlfriend being you. You were willing to bet that he'd rather date Suguru before he would ever consider being with you.
"I dunno, I think it would be cute. Who knows, once I assimilate with Tengen, I could force you two together for the sake of the jujutsu world," she mused as you two walked to the other side of the store to meet up with the rest of your group.
"Sure, Riko. Sure."
___________________________________________________________
"Tch, is she sleeping?" Satoru's voice from above you woke you from your nap.
Your eyes squinted at him from underneath his sunglasses. "She isn't now..." you grumbled, glaring up at him from your spot on your blanket. You had been sunning yourself near Geto and Kuroi while Satoru and Riko fished around in the water. You had borrowed Satoru's glasses to keep the brightness from your eyes.
"So, first you steal my money, then my glasses. What's next?" Satoru teased. He stood above you with your legs between his feet. He leaned over at the waist as he smiled down at you, awaiting your response.
You took the sunglasses off and leaned up with your hands supporting your weight, your face inches from his. "You know I didn't steal anything, Satoru." You turned the sunglasses around and placed them back on his face. "There, happy?"
"Indubitably." Satoru grabbed your hands in his and pulled you to your feet. You knew somewhere, Riko was watching. "Have a good nap, sweetheart?"
You immediately tore your hands from his and wiped excess sand from your back. "You can shake out my blanket."
Satoru smiled as he watched you walk away.
___________________________________________________________
That night, your group booked two connecting rooms in a hotel right next to the airport. One for you, Riko, and Kuroi, and the other for Suguru and Satoru.
Your nap from earlier today messed with your ability to fall asleep. Kuroi and Riko were already passed out in the bed next to yours as you laid there like a stiff log with eyes. A midnight snack. That would help.
You opened the bedroom door and walked into the rooms' connecting living room. You were met with Satoru sitting on the couch, staring at the window to his left.
"Satoru? Why are you still awake?" you whispered, shutting the door.
His eyes moved to look at you. Man, he looked slumped. "The mission? Riko was attacked twice in the past two days. We can't let that happen again." He was focusing his six eyes in search for any approaching enemies.
"Well, why don't you take a break. I'll take over," you offered, putting a hand on his shoulder as you sat next to him. He was even still dressed in the same clothes from the beach. "You can at least change or go take a shower. You stink." You pinched and tugged on his shirt for emphasis.
Satoru only replied with an incredulous look thrown in your direction, far from the witty response you expected. "Okay, maybe I was exaggerating a little, but still," you murmured while crossing your arms. "You can't push yourself like this. Please."
Satoru sighed. "You need to go back to bed, (y/n)."
"I can't. That's why I'm out here," you stated. "I was hungry." Your hunger had been forgotten as soon as you saw him, though, in the state of his intense and relentless focus. "Satoru, we need to be up in 6 hours. You need sleep."
"I'll be okay," he argued, his voice low. He returned his gaze to the window. Part of you wanted to yell at him for being so stubborn, but at this point you were too exhausted to care.
"Fine, then I'm staying out here with you." You rose from the couch to grab leftovers from dinner. Soon, those leftovers were finished and left on the low-lying table in front of you. Cocooned in one of the spare hotel blankets, you settled down next to Satoru again. You didn't protest when he wrapped his arm around you so you could sleep against him. He didn't even look at you. His other hand was propped on the arm of the couch so he could perch his face on his fist. You leaned into him to gather more of his warmth, and shut your eyes.
"(y/n)?" Satoru mumured after a few minutes.
"Mmm?"
"What are you doing?"
You opened your eyes, perking up when you saw the soft red glow cast around you body and his attention on you. Your reversal energy. "Oh, sorry-"
"Keep doing it... please," Satoru pleaded. "Felt nice..." His eyes were surprisingly dim in the moonlight. You've never noticed that before. In fact, what you did notice was that his eyes were no longer tired and on edge, but rather, tired and calm.
"C'mere..." You opened up the blanket for him to scoot inside. You let your technique wash over both you, providing you with a sense of release that lulled you into sleep, while the effects of your technique gave Satoru a feeling of tranquility and rest, something he sorely needed, but wouldn't admit. Just like his need for you.

okay for real i have thoughts on the ofmd finale, and they're mostly positive, but i've seen a LOT of takes that are just. not using critical thinking at all. so i wanna outline my stuff here. spoilers under the cut
okay. so, first things first, a round of applause and a bouquet of flowers to con o'neill. brilliant, BRILLIANT work from him in both seasons - no exaggeration, maybe one of the best performances i've ever seen. he put his heart and soul into that role, and i cannot commend him enough. i was moved to tears multiple times this season, and he did wonderfully.
second, i know it's hard to hear, but izzy was ready to die. did he HAVE to die? no, of course not. was it fair that he died? no, death is never fair. but was he, as a character and in terms of the narrative, ready to die? yes. and before we go any further, i am saying this in explicit terms: i love izzy. i've loved him since day one. i've never been one of those people who was rooting for a bad ending for him. and this ending isn't a bad one.
izzy was exhausted. he was ready to resign last season. he was put through the fucking wringer this season. in season one, he explicitly says that the only way out of piracy is death. is that necessarily true? no, but for HIM it is. izzy's whole life was the sea. his whole life was piracy. everything he knew and loved belonged to that life. a life of piracy, constantly surrounded by violence and constantly in danger, isn't a place you can really thrive, but for him to leave it all behind would be torture for him. can you honestly imagine him retiring the way ed and stede did? i can't. i really don't think he'd want to retire. he wouldn't be happy. this post sums it up the best - it just makes sense, both narratively and in terms of symbolism.
and if the only way out for him was death, well, FUCK, then it's only fitting that he got the kindest death imaginable.
imagine if he'd died the minute he was shot and the crew had to leave him behind and we never saw him again. that would have been cheap, empty, and an unfair ending. imagine if his suicide attempt earlier this season had been successful, if he had died alone in the dark from a gunshot to his head. can you IMAGINE how hollow and bitter and cruel that would have been?
but look at him. izzy crawled his way back from the brink of death, he watched the person he loved most become a monster, he did the bravest thing and saved his crew over the person he'd been loyal to for decades, he literally dragged himself to a better life than the one he had before, and then, episode six. la vie en rose.
he was beautiful. he was radiant. he was joyful and surrounded by joy. most importantly, he was loved. i've rewatched that scene half a dozen times and i am not ashamed to admit that i've cried at nearly every watch.
that kind of queer joy and character redemption is not something i have ever seen before, and con performed it perfectly. he was there, surrounded by the crew, literally held up by a physical manifestation of their love for him. that is the apex of a character arc if i've ever seen one. that was his moment.
and for a time, he was happy. did it feel short because the pacing was incredibly rushed this season? oh, absolutely. but that's not the fault of anyone but hbo and their corporate bullshit. they had to jam-pack a dozen character arcs into eight half-hour episodes and do justice to all of them, so of course it felt rushed. but that moment, la vie en rose, and all the times after, that was a character done justice.
and then, he died. but did he die alone, or unloved, or unhappy, or before his time? no.
izzy hands died surrounded by the people who loved him, in the arms of the person he loved most in the world. he died forgiving and being forgiven. he died having experienced pure joy for the first time in a very, very long while. he died accepted and he died belonging to a family, with a leg made by his crew holding him up until the end. he said he was ready, he knew it was his time. he was a fighter, but he died letting himself rest, having fought and having lived beautifully.
it's like he said to ricky. he's gone, but he endures, because he was GOOD. he knew he was good. and for a man that was so thoroughly broken and beaten down at the beginning of his arc, that's a beautiful thing.
we watched him physically drag himself away from everyone who loved him, repeating "you are born alone and you die alone", and then we saw him die surrounded by their love. we saw them prove him wrong.
izzy died knowing he was good, and he died knowing he was loved.
death was not his redemption arc. he was redeemed from the moment he walked out into that rainstorm and saved his crew's lives by standing up to ed. this whole season was his post-redemption life, and he got to experience beauty and joy before he died in the way he wanted to - like a pirate - in the kindest way he possibly could have experienced.
we watched him go from the antagonist to the heart and soul of the crew, and saying it was all for nothing because he died is so blatantly missing the point. (and, just saying, no shade, but the venn diagram of people mad about this and people saying the good omens season 2 finale was bad is a circle. sometimes bad things have to happen in the narrative because it's right. a character you like doing something bad or dying is not bad writing.)
so, izzy, rest in peace. rest surrounded by love. rest knowing you were good.
and con o'neill, rest knowing that you did an amazing character justice, knowing that you blew everyone's minds, and knowing that you kicked ass in every single way possible.
and third, the phrase "rancid syphilitic cunt" is going to enter my vocabulary forever and no one will stop me.

I just read your post about attachment styles and love it, but I'm curious about when the stuff about Mulcahy is mentioned in the series. I'm a bit obsessed with him and I really want to know when this will come up. I'm only in season six, but I've already heard spoilers galore, however I hadn't heard about this yet
Hi!! So… This ended up being a lot lot longer than I meant it to be because I just ended up rambling about some specific things and how they relate to attachment theory but I promise there’s examples and episode names and such in here so please bare with me. Also, in case you don’t read this all the way through lmao, feel free to dm me or whatever bc I am also obsessed with him if you can’t tell by my blog and I’d love to talk about this more. There’s a lot more examples of this stuff or just moments that you might enjoy that I don’t mention here so if you want more stuff or just to like chat about it feel free :))
My ramble about Father Mulcahy and his attachment issues (lmao) is below the cut!
Omg okay so a lot of this is reading between the lines/subtext type stuff. But there is some stuff that’s talked about! There an episode later on… I think it’s in season 10, called “Heroes.” Basically it’s about a fighter (I’m assuming a boxer but I don’t know for sure), who comes to visit the 4077th but he ends up having a stroke. The guy was a real asshole but Mulcahy seemed to worship him and got testy whenever anyone said anything about it, likely because later in the episode he says he only ever had two heroes in his life, that guy, and Plato. There’s a scene with Mulcahy near the end in post-op, and he’s alone with the fighter and tells him about the hero thing. He was talking about how he liked Plato’s “Ideal Plane” because his own life wasn’t ideal. He said he was small with thick glasses and was an easy target for other kids and he never even tried to fight back. But when he was… 12, I think? Something like that, he said his father dragged him to his first fight and he watched the guy who had the stroke fight another guy. By the end the other guy was really hurt and the fighter was just wailing on him, and Mulcahy said that everyone around him was telling the fighter to end it, and his dad was one of the loudest. But the fighter took a step back and told the ref to stop the fight because the other man was already hurt badly enough. Apparently that’s the first time Mulcahy realized he could defend himself without giving up his principles. Maybe by itself that doesn’t say much for attachment, but it got me thinking… He clearly was getting picked on by other kids all the time, beat up and thrown around and whatnot. I don’t remember when he says but I believe at some point he says that both his parents drank. That’s the only time I remember his talking about his father, and it’s about him loudly yelling for the guy to get this shit beat out of him. Doesn’t give a great impression, does it?
Another time was during one of the interview episodes when the reporter asks him if he wants to say hello to his family back home. Everyone else says hi to specific people, but Mulcahy just gives a half-hearted hello. The only person he corresponds with from home as far as we know is his sister Kathy. He seems very fond of her, and I have my own headcanons about their relationship and childhood and whatnot, but we know at least that he loves Kathy. But why is she the only one he ever talks to or about? Likely he doesn’t have a good relationship with his parents. And once he mentions having brothers, as he had to share a bed with them growing up, but he never talks about them either.
On that same note… Philadelphia isn’t a great area. And based on the comment about the bed and other things he’s said here and there, it seemed liked he grew up in poverty. That puts a lot of strain on someone, and especially familial relationships. There’s issues of food insecurity, lack of safety, living in likely a very small space given having to share a bed… and I’ll elaborate a bit more on this later but it seems like his parents were potentially abusive. Feeling unsafe growing up and especially like your caregivers can’t or are unwilling to protect you (or are the ones causing the harm) can affect your attachment relationships for the rest of your life.
Omg this is such a rant I’m so sorry. I have more.
I think it’s in season 2 or 3, there’s an episode where Henry and Mulcahy get trapped in the bombed out latrine. Maybe you remember it? They pull Mulcahy out and he’s dazed, potentially in shock, and doesn’t really know what’s going on. But he’s telling a story about himself and presumably Kathy, where she wanted to take apples from the yard or something and make apple pie because she learned how in the Girl Scouts. They made the pie and ate it before dinner or something and their mother came in and was like “what the hell is going on,” or something. He looks at Klinger (who is in a dress) and says it’s the first time he ever heard her swear. Presumably she was mad, which I mean makes sense if your kids made and ate a whole pie before dinner but he doesn’t go into much detail about it. This by itself wouldn’t have piqued my interest much, HOWEVER. This is a spoiler, but you said you don’t mind spoilers so… I’m just gunna go on with it. In the finale, Mulcahy loses his hearing. In AfterMASH (yes, I know a lot of people don’t consider it canon but it’s Mulcahy gold for me okay so hear me out), he turns to alcohol to cope with basically having nowhere to go and no job, and Kathy calls Potter to help him because he’s depressed, an alcoholic, etc etc. Potter got him in for a surgery to restore his hearing (I’m a bit salty about how this happened and all but it’s the next part that’s relavant). After the surgery, when he’s all loopy from anesthesia, there’s an inner monologue about his parents and some other things. He’s apologizing to his parents for something, I don’t remember what, and then wonders if someone (a she, but I can’t figure out who he’s talking about) hit him because of the drinking. But the past and present seem all mottled… I can’t really make sense of a lot of it. There’s something in there about someone being so angry when the bomb went off and he went deaf and he’s apologizing to his parents for going deaf (well actually he says he hopes they aren’t angry, he wasn’t supposed to be on the back of a street car but why are there bombs on streetcars anyway). It was a whole thing. But it just made me think like that’s twice now that the first thing he thought of when he was loopy af was his parents being angry… and that just doesn’t sit right with me. Maybe it’s the psych major in me but it doesn’t… it feels off.
Long story short… he’s got some sort of insecure attachment. There’s the main theory of attachment by Bowlby and Ainsworth, but there’s also so many bits that build off of this, such as splitting avoidant attachment into fearful and dismissing, all of which is based on interpersonal models and the scales of view of self and view of other, etc etc. I don’t know exactly which category he’d fit into because some of his hesitancy/not getting close to people is because of his job, right? But I definitely think it’s not all that.
You don’t often see him reach out for help. Securely attached people reach out for help when they need it and seek proximity to attachment figures when distressed/ill/etc, even in adulthood. Mulcahy doesn’t do that, except to Kathy. The odd time he’s told Potter he feels useless and there’s a whole plot line about that (Dear Sis is the episode, it’s my fav episode of the series, in season 10), and he doesn’t feel like he’s any good for anything if he’s not needed or helping others. That could come from needing to please people (like his parents) to avoid being punished or because he had to help raise his siblings bc his parents were absent/neglectful/abusive/etc. Again we don’t know much about his family, but the snippets you get here and there aren’t great. Anyway my point here was that Mulcahy typically only seeks advice/comfort from very select people (Kathy, Hawkeye) and always seeks to please. Always. He’s also always looking for some sort of validation, likely because he has a negative self-view and anxious attachment and needs that confirmation that he’s doing okay and is actually useful.
I… I have so much to say about him. And his attachment issues. I created a mash oc that initially was supposed to be his best friend and as I was going along with it I was like “oh my god he’s so insecure in his attachment” and just like…he’s always the one taking care of others but never lets anyone help him (ex. The hepatitis episode). And again some of that is his vocation… but what drew him to that vocation in the first place?
No matter what attachment style you have or who you are or what your job is, humans need attachment figures in their lives. Some people deny it, some people are scared to be vulnerable, but whether they realize it or not attachment figures and the attachment network are necessary to be healthy. That’s why the attachment system exists in the first place, to provide us with a feeling of safety and security.
I could literally ramble about this for forever. I have notes actually from class today that made me think about this even more so I could probably make this a bit more coherent if I looked at them… maybe I’ll do that another time. Idk.

TEEN WOLF SPOILERS !
jeff davis truly has got to be the most spiteful person out there to make this movie. teen wolf was my absolute favorite show as a teen. i remember being obsessed with it for like three years, at least. i’m glad i’m seeing all the fans of the show hate on the movie because it’s what it deserves.
the fact that jeff davis refuses to acknowledge that scott mccall was never the star of the show is plain stupid. stiles was the star from the pilot to the final episode. he embodied the show, gave it life. to this day, he’s still one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. the show would have been nothing without stiles. void stiles was one of the biggest highlights of the show (as it should). dylan o’brien shined every second on the screen in his role.
what’s even more wild to me is that stiles and lydia, one of if not the most popular pairing from the show, got broken up over something so incredibly stupid and irrelevant that it makes me question if i was even watching the teen wolf movie. stiles and lydia who had a six-season slowburn and were the fan-favorite ship from the very first season (at least that’s how it felt to me) and it got ruined just like that. i just don’t get it. like it was so unnecessary that it’s just funny to me.
and then there’s the also very unnecessary death of derek hale. my beloved. derek who probably went through the most in the show (if i remember correctly anyway, i haven’t watched it in a couple years). like this man had to kill his first love, his family died in a fire, he was sa’d by kate, and now they let him burn to death in front of his son??? respectfully, what???? that is beyond fucked up. i only liked the moment where he spoke about stiles’s jeep. i’m not really a sterek shipper myself but i do get why fans like them.
also the weird thing is — for the longest time i was bummed that i didn’t get my scallison endgame, and now that i did get it, i just… i don’t know. it’s not the same? it certainly wasn’t necessary for me anymore. her death was sad as fuck but to be honest i didn’t need her back.
can’t believe i’m only realizing it now, but i’ve grown to prefer kira over allison. allison used to be my favorite girl on the show for some reason but she definitely isn’t anymore. and the fact that arden cho was offered half of what the white actresses would be receiving for the movie?? what the fuck??? that’s ridiculous. i’m glad she turned the offer down because she deserves better than to be involved in this shitshow anyways. can’t believe all the other actors went through with the film while being aware of that. most of them are jobless anyways sooo
i feel like the movie could have worked if everyone had returned with a solid storyline (honestly everything would have been better than this, the majority of fanfic writers could come up with a better script than this). and when i say everyone i mean everyone. stiles, kira, isaac, you name them. but in all honesty? we didn’t need a movie. even though i feel like the show didn’t end on a high note (season 6 was shit if you ask me) i thought the ending was fine.
the show itself wasn’t fantastic writing or acting (it definitely felt better at the time but i was younger so yk) but its storylines were enjoyable enough, i liked the script and most of the characters and their dynamics were fun. it was a different time with all the supernatural-ish shows and stuff and whatever but i did love it for a long time. it’s sad to know they went in this direction with the movie but my expectations were very low anyways so i kind of saw it coming. i’m gonna attempt a rewatch of the show soon to see whether it was as i remembered it.
these were my thoughts, might add more later!

a brief explanation of Fantasy High
This post is brought to you by my realization that I'm pretty sure a good half of the people who see the posts on my blog aren't in the Fantasy High fandom and might be very confused about my switch from screaming about David Tennant to screaming about magical teenagers. So! If that is you! Yeah it's only gonna get worse from here. But also!
Fantasy High is a tabletop role-playing game, based off of the mechanics of D&D (specifically the 5th edition). It's set in what can be best described as a mix between 1980s retro America (at least for vibes) and high fantasy, and it follows the Bad Kids, six teen adventurers who attend fantasy high school (hence the name). As of right now, there are two seasons (Freshman Year and Sophomore Year), both of which are free on youtube, and on January 10th they'll begin releasing Junior Year on Dropout (<-streaming service that the prior two years were first released on). With minimal spoilers, here's some of what Fantasy High has contained so far:
Shenanigans
lots of silly voices
lots of serious voices
(seriously, Brennan Lee Mulligan is incredible at distinct voices for NPCs)
fictional family relationships that will make you cry
actually good life advice
more shenanigans
queer stuff. so much queer stuff.
the most heartfelt expression of growing up I've ever seen
gender envy (not in-universe, but like. you'll probably feel it if you watch)
insanely detailed foreshadowing
worldbuilding my beloved <3333
commitment to the bit. I think that's a guiding principle of the show tbh
Ally Beardsley Roles (tm). You'll understand.
did I mention that there were shenanigans? there are shenanigans.
Obviously this is not exhaustive, as that would be a very long list. Hopefully this makes my fandom jumping make a teensy bit more sense (and also convinces you to watch Fantasy High so we can scream about it together)

Seren's Studies: Odd Squad UK -- "Odd Ones In" Episode Followup, Part 1
Tumblr media
May the days of the whiteness of the Big O's desk be forever remembered in favor of this thing that flashbanged me and made me nearly drop my glasses.
No, guys, seriously. I am looking at this thing. It is floating. Why is it floating.
But enough whining. It's October 1st and that means Odd Squad UK has officially premiered! With it, we get a bunch of episodes that have been graciously pulled by a friend, @personinthepalace. Many thanks goes to them! (And all the work they've had to do throwing them up in other places where YouTube failed.)
For those unfamiliar with how these work, it's pretty standard: I watch the episode, plop screenshots into this post, and react accordingly in text form. Sadly, until I can get a new laptop and some privacy, Seren Reacts videos will be on hold.
So join me below the break for screaming, crying, and much, much asking of "did I hear that right", "what did they say?" and "hi doctor, I might need hearing aids".
(This will also be Part 1, due to Tumblr's 30-photo limit. I can amass as much as 50-120 screenshots for a single episode, so this will be broken into many parts. To find them all, peruse the #seren's studies tag!)
(Oh, and spoilers. Don't read this, or any of the other parts, unless you've seen the episode in full.)
Tumblr media
With huge props to those who guessed Captain O would be doing the intro, in line with how Oprah used to do it in the past in order to not spoil new characters.
It's funny because from what I've seen, Captain O goes out onto the field a lot more and doesn't just play the role of Ms. Exposition. I like that change!
Tumblr media
I'm...well...okay, maybe this doesn't surprise me given how Ozzie was literally in the first promo picture...but sure. Fine. I dig it.
Tumblr media
Osgood has his own cookbook, and quite frankly, I'm just mad they didn't give Oksana one. You're telling me the girl cuts food with diamonds and she doesn't have her own cookbook? Piss off the roof and pray it rains.
Tumblr media
"I'm in charge of an organization of kids like these...but...not these..."
OH MY GYAHD THEY BROUGHT BACK THE BIT FROM SEASON 3 ONLY IT'S LESS SPECIAL NOW.
Look, I was there when people went nuts over Oprah bringing all six main characters (at the time) back for a cameo in the intro. I went nuts. It was beautiful!
This just doesn't hit the same. It tried to aim for my heart and instead got me in the nose.
...I still laughed, though.
Tumblr media
Most of the stuff in here is taken from the trailer, but there is some new stuff here too, like Captain O giving a big "fuck you" to what I have to assume is a construction worker seeking help on a nearby project.
...Look, I'm a dumb lil' American. You are bound to get fed misinformation up the wazoo. I am bound to not use Google because I am allowed not to and also I am lazy and tired. Don't ask me how shit works.
Tumblr media
Ah yes, I see that, in addition to upgrading the special effects used for exiting the tubes, they also upgraded the special effects and animation used for riding the tubes themselves.
Once again, I will point to "Down the Tubes" for a comparison and ask you which one looks better to you. My vote is down easy.
Tumblr media
This is a wooden ship and they have couch cushions.
WE ARE NOT ON A LUXURY PRINCESS CRUISE THIS IS A CAPITAL SIN PREPARE FOR DESTRUC-
Tumblr media
My God, it's like they saw Season 3, saw people hated it, and upped the ante more than if literally anyone else sane bought Twitter from Elon.
The fact that I could probably tell you what episodes these bits all came from is terrifying. Terrifying still, I'd only get half wrong.
Tumblr media
*deep inhale*
Two things: who thought this was a good idea, AND WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT HAVING AN OFFICE BEHIND A WATERFALL WAS A GOOD IDEA.
Caves behind waterfalls are where villains run off to. Where treasure is buried. It's not- oh my God...oh...my God.
Tumblr media
Okay, legally, you can't have finger guns in the UK, so Captain O is committing a crime AND GET YOUR KEYS AWAY FROM MY CAR THAT I SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FIXING UP IT IS A JOKE. A JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-
Tumblr media
From a height angle, this is as jarring as Omar and Oneta up against Maine Mr. O.
Back then, when there was the followup for "The Void",there was a joke that he could probably be their little sibling. Like, little little. Like "generation gap" little.
The latter most certainly holds true here.
Tumblr media
OH THANK GOD THEY DIDN'T BRITISH-FY THE LOGO. THANK YOU JESUS. BAD ENOUGH I GOT FLASHBANGED ONCE YOU WANT IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN?????
But also, rest in pieces to the creator credits appearing here. Usually that only happens when the creators have done some egregious thing and episodes are edited to remove their name in most capacities. (And I'm staring The Loud House down with the fury of a thousand suns. You are better off not knowing.)
Here...Tim and Adam have done nothing egregious, but it's still jarring to not see their names up here. They're not showrunners, but give the men some credit, damn it!
Tumblr media
I gotta say, one second in and I'm already digging this episode. Most Precure episodes I watch don't even get that far enough in to make me say "wow!"
But oh man is this Tube Lobby crazy retro. I mean if the film reels back there didn't give it away...
Tumblr media
And your writer for this episode! Mark is basically a pioneer within the franchise, having written some fantastic episodes that, if I listed them all, would derail the entire followup. He's got strong writing chops and I can't wait to see what he does with this one. Basically, if you see his name pop up, you know shit's gonna be real good.
Tumblr media
And your...ah...producer. I don't think we've ever seen a producer credit on here before. The name's not familiar, so I'll assume she's one of the British staff and hope she can work her magic better than 70% of Season 3's writers.
Tumblr media
Not even past the first ten seconds yet and already I've spotted my first criticism: the audio balancing.
I went into the gadget competition video thinking it would be fixed. Much to my dismay, it has not, and that means my eardrum hairs will have to suffer for a good 22 minutes.
...
Scratch that and make it 12 episodes' worth.
To my body, I am so sorry in advance.
Tumblr media
And your director for this episode. This guy had an interview regarding references in Odd Squad UK that I unfortunately never found, even after asking about it and spreading the word around. Quite a shame, but now that the show's here, I can go play Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon: Delusion Edition and cry profusely.
Tumblr media
Honestly, as much as I want to be a sour realist and say that no one is this excited walking into work...I'm more focused on the planet/glowing Perplexus maze ball/good God what is that Seymour.
Tumblr media
The guy has his own cheer team waiting for him when he comes into the bullpen, and either this is some weird-ass Department of Help perk or this is the happiest Odd Squad precinct I have ever seen in 10 years.
See, Otto was a happy guy. Olympia was a happy gal. Omar was a happy guy. Where are their cheerleading teams, hehh?? Where are their teams?!
Tumblr media
*spits out Pepsi at such an insanely fast speed it beats Comcast by ten thousand miles*
THEY HAVE AN AGENT WITH DOWN SYNDROME?!?!?!
IT TOOK THEM
10 YEARS
TO HAVE AN AGENT
WITH DOWN SYNDROME?!?!?!?!?!
...Okay look, I had a friend with cerebral palsy and from watching this bit repeatedly I don't think this agent has it...
BUT THEY PUT IN AN AGENT WITH DOWN SYNDROME ALL THE SAME AWWWWWWWWWW HNNNNNNNNNNGH MY HEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHT
I'm not even mad they did that before a canonically autistic agent. I'm not mad. I'm not mad it exists. I'm not mad they could have done this 10 years ago and given a raspberry and a "fuck you" to all the ableist critics. How the fuck do you expect my ass to get mad at this? I'm not fucking barbaric, sweet Jesus Christ.
Only a minute in and this is by far one of the best things of the episode, right here. I can't gush about this enough. You ask me why I love this franchise, and this is one of the reasons.
Tumblr media
"I work in the Department of Help. It's my job."
Thank you, Ozzie, but I didn't spend a year waiting to get slammed face-first with exposition. I could teach a college class on this entire show/season at what was my dream college before nu monies crushed that.
Tumblr media
Just to note: the last time we ever saw a PA system used by a Director was -- and correct me if I'm wrong -- Oprah in "The Jackies", a good 10 years ago.
The fact it's become a mainstay for Captain O and her precinct is a lovely bit of continuity, if unintentional.
Tumblr media
I remember seeing part of this set a long time ago in a BTS photo. Nice to see another angle of it!
I like the seafaring stuff in here too. Scuba helmet, what looks to be maps of islands, a telescope...the only funny thing is that Ozzie staring down Captain O here is the equivalent of Otis staring down Orson aaaaaaaaand I can't get that out of my head now. Beautiful. Thank you.
Tumblr media
As if the Oona image Easter egg wasn't enough, they have to go and reference toast again?
I'm not even mad, this literal humor is on-brand and hilarious, but this being the 10th anniversary series, it's funny they choose to reference this and not Sheila.
...Or maybe they will reference Sheila later. She does have that Bizarre Brigade show...
Tumblr media
It's probably unintentional on Alexander Shaw's part, but this line here sounds so artificial it's like maybe, just maybe, he has something to do with it.
...
MA GET MY TINFOIL HAT I'M GOIN' OUTSIDE-
Tumblr media
"I'll be brief: I have no idea why all this is happening."
Very few kids shows can sell a character to me and make me slam my wallet chock-full of bills down on a single line, but Odd Squad UK did it with Onom and I have no regrets.
Tumblr media
Is...hold on, is this is a whole-ass meeting Captain O's having in here? It's not just Ozzie, Onom and Orwell?
Either I'm trippin' like hell or this is the live-action equivalent of needing background characters to fill up spaces in a scene.
Tumblr media
And just like that, 13 chances for name-drops of past "living legend" agents were shot with bullets going into all the crucial arteries in the bodies.
How does he know about Orli? Who the fuck knows! He's got a better chance of knowing about the 13 "living legend" agents in question than some girl working behind a goddamn waterfall!!
Tumblr media
You ever watch Adult Swim and it cuts right from the show to an ident scene?
That's what this is. Only there's no ident, it's mid-episode, and it's so sudden that it's like half of the ASMR memes on the Internet that jumpscare you.
(On to Part 2!)

Hey guys. I'm just going to say that I'm not sure when I'll end up watching s4. It's been a lot with school starting and haven't gotten around to it.
However, I did just watch the first 2 episodes with my sister, so here's a few things I have to say about them.
Season 4 Spoilers ⚠️
To start off, I will never stop saying I am disappointed that Five's mustache was fake.
All that aside... rewatching was... interesting. I have the inside perspective of knowing where everything is going. And knowing that all the powers shown... might be great and improved... but that episode 2 is the only place where they're really shown. Diego with the bullets again. Lila's laser eyes. Luther taking a load of bullets to the back, etc.
I'm also just going to say that rewatching this was also still confusing. I know what's going to happen... just... why? Genuinely, the season went off the rails.
Sorry, but it did.
I slowly am able to think back on the characters and understand why things are the way they are, but most of the plot line and side tasks and lines are just... why?
And the baby shark gag really did get old really quick.
And why that much gore?
Also, back to episode 1 with Luther being the stripper. You remember the first song? The one he danced to? The very inappropriate song... yeah, uh... my dad may or may not have heard and definitely questioned us. Whoops.
Anyhoo. Klaus not taking the shot is totally on brand... just... a lot of his character development doesn't make sense. You know what would've made sense? And gave us closure??? The deleted scene. That's all.
One thing I don't get is Jennifer. Ever since she was six, (still don't get the whole squid thing which upsets me a little), "step-uncle Gary" has raised her. Her words exactly. But all of a sudden some guy who was rude to her (Ben) and apparently was involved in a whole crypto thing (that made no sense and was really random) seems to be a bad guy and she runs off with HIM? She doesn't stay with her "family". No. Cause that's crazy right? Let's fun off with the guy I just met that everyone wants to point guns at. That seems fun. Oh look. Tentacles come out of his back too. That makes it funner. Let's go Ben. Hello??
Anyhoo. Too much stuff happened. And it was all confusing.
I go back and forth. Part of me says we all just need to accept season 4 and then there's the other half that goes back to the recap where Viktor is about to stop Allison and says how about we all imagine Viktor DID stop Allison and then they "all" died together with Sloane in Hotel Oblivion.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

I think the possibility of a whole new Season is pretty much dead, HOWEVER that doesn't preclude content drops anyway. I still believe the chances of at least minor additions here and there is absolutely still not zero. I just doubt we're getting new catalogs or proper *Seasonal Updates* anymore.
As for the catalogs themselves... my assumption is we'll begin seeing 1:1 reruns of entire previous catalogues.
Starting with """Drizzle '24""" (not a proper new Season, but each three months'll probably keep being called Drizzle, Chill, Fresh, Sizzle, so on) having a 1:1 rerun of Drizzle '22's catalogue, then """Chill '24""" having 1:1 Chill '22's catalogue, so on and so forth until all have been repeated, then looping basically forever until... probably when the Switch's entire online services are shut down (which if it's like 3DS and WiiU, will be *years* from now still).
Duplicate items will act the same as getting a duplicate from Shell-Out, repeat gear, etc. Predetermined banners/titles will probably just give you a random banner/title if you already own the predetermined one, I'd assume.
AAAANYWAY prediction time! This will be predictions based on both GrandFest related stuff *and* any potential future minor updates I think *might* happen, or I'm just hoping for and don't think the possibility is zero yet. Contains datamined info, so spoilers ahead.
First off, kind of a small one but I think the gear for the Alterna and Side Order Amiibos will be revealed as soon as tomorrow (as of me posting this). JP Twitter began making posts about GrandFest about four and a half hours ago. The last one of today states that the amiibo box will not be usable during GrandFest-they end the post with "...Amiibo, eh?" which in my head implies they're trying to maybe lead straight into their very next post tomorrow with something important amiibo-related, and I can't see it being anything other than a gear reveal.
...Unless? There's something *else* special we're gonna be able to use the amiibos for...? I'm personally leaning toward it just being a gear reveal, though. But not ruling out the possibility of it being something else, either.
Now, into bigger things... GrandFest is 1000% going to have some sort of cross over with Big Run. Seven rings. BIG Big Run was the seventh Big Run event. BIG Big Run clearly shows that the Salmonids are getting more aggressive. Just before that they were only invading one stage at a time, sending out just one King per Xtra Wave, but then suddenly in this seventh Big Run they launched an attack on all previous attack sites at once, and the Kings are teaming up now. Things are escalating. If I'm not mistaken FinalFests were usually five days? So GrandFest only being three seems... odd. Also by the way, dataminers found that GrandFest (codename SAND)'s code literally has a fucking handler for Big Run music. Why would a Splatfest need a handler for Big Run music, unless...? I think the Salmonids may flat-out invade at least one hub world. The Twitter posts about GrandFest say that you won't be able to travel to the other plazas during GrandFest, meaning in-universe there may be no Inkfish out and about in the plazas...... either the Salmonids will sneak into the empty town(s) while everybody's distracted with GrandFest, OR they could even just come directly to us to crash the party... either way leading to a massive critical emergency in which we'll need to fend them off.
In that case I have to wonder if perhaps BigBalloon and the six Bosses sitting in the files, who as far as I know are *still* present in the files meaning the devs still haven't scrapped them, may come into play here. GrandFest is obviously going to be kind of a huge event, the Big Run crossover that's most certainly happening may do something huge as well.
I just wanna see these bastards finally show up, BigBalloon and three of the six Bosses have been in the files since fucking Horrorboros was first introduced, they just added the other three Bosses into the files in Chill '23 (this just past Chill), they by all means seem to still be being worked on, as if the devs are still planning to or at least *want* to still implement them finally... BigBalloon, Balloon, Ghost, Wheel, Silo, Fish, Stick, where the hell are you all? Please!
Now for other additions probably unrelated to GrandFest:
● Third kits. THIRD KITS. I know a lot of people have lost hope but both previous games had some third kits and they don't need to be in a *major* update to still get added. It would be absolutely fucking bizarre if they had absolutely no third kits in their THIRD GAME, and for the first time in the whole series so far. I still have some semblance of confidence there will be at least Sheldon's Picks at SOME point eventually.
● On the topic of weapons: those two still-unidentified new main weapons found last Season are still in the files right now, I believe. Will we finally get them soon? Eventually? For those who don't know, even though one new main weapon for every class has now been added in updates, the devs seem to be at least toying with the idea of adding two more new main weapons... somewhere. Dataminers found two unnamed new main weapons in Fresh '24- while not much info could be gleaned about them, they know both of them are part of some sort of existing class, the devs aren't surprising us with a new class as far as we know.
● I wonder if they're cooking anything in regards to PvP stages. Lemuria rounds things off to perfectly fill the last page on the recon lists, BUT everyone noticed that last Season they explicitly called Bonerattle the final Salmon stage, while this Season did not call Lemuria the final PvP stage for whatever reason. Could be nothing. They could just assume we would know it's the last, maybe they're just suddenly starting to no longer state when something is the final something. Or.................
● I want more character customization please for the love of god, even just a couple hairstyles or something at this point.
● Literally any, ANY significant addition to Side Order. It's still pretty fun but could benefit from some new floor layouts, new weapons, new Cipher shop items to grind for, anything, even if just one of those things. I've made an entire post in the past about possibilities.
● I want the S2 Special Fest gear obtainable in 3 by some means. Whether it's somehow connected to GrandFest or added to Cipher's shop or what.
● I want a Triumvirate nerf of some sort.
● Maybe a Flyfish nerf of some sort, too...
● And some kind of actual real fix to Reefslider, no more of these random buffs that don't really resolve or counteract the issues people have with it.
● And tweak Ultra Stamp a bit- people are always able to shoot me dead from the front but I can never beat an opponent Stamp from the front (unless using my own Stamp or a Decavitator, the hitboxes for both of those can reach past their Stamp without any sort of interruption), it's like they get some kind of invincibility from the front that I don't. And the enlarged hitbox from a while back is still frustrating to be on the receiving end of. I say either A.) Make everybody consistently invincible from the front and shrink the hitbox some amount for balance sake, or B.) Make everybody consistently NOT invincible from the front and then it's probably fine to keep the hitbox how it is.
------
I think this is all I have any idea about, any wishes for or confidence in. If I think of anything else before I see more info then I'll put it here. May also edit this to condense it a lil at some point but for right now I'm gonna try and sleep.

my Kaleidoscope review
non-spoiler review: great concept, bad execution.
spoiler review under the cut:
first things first, my viewing order was the Rainbow Order: Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet, White
watching the last two episodes first (Pink, Red) and starting at the end was a fantastic choice for me. it was very Memento in that i had no context for what was going on but the mystery made it exciting. i didn’t know what was going on but it made me curious about the characters and what had happened. what happened to RJ? how/why did the heist go wrong? what happened to Leo to injure him like that? what went down with Bob? why did Judy decide to leave Stan behind and take the money herself? who went after Leo in the tunnel to shoot him? oh, the FBI have informants in the crew, as in plural? i was excited! i was immersed!
little did i know, it was all downhill from there.
the more episodes i watched, the more it became apparent that there wasn’t all that much to it. so many of the episodes are filled with padding, like the writers were trying to increase the length of the episodes without giving it a lot of substance. there were some secrets that were revealed here and there (Ava being the FBI informant; Hannah being a part of the plan) but a lot of what went wrong in the heist was revealed in the heist episode (White). which, based on this concept, is not how it should have gone.
and i found myself more and more disappointed, especially realizing that White was only the heist episode and did not reveal any more of what happens six months after the heist. so Judy just decides to leave Stan and take the money herself? so someone kills Leo/Ray but we don’t know who it is and we don’t know if he’s actually dead? you mean, even though Nazan specifically used the word informants meaning MORE THAN ONE, there was actually only one mole in the crew?
it’s disappointed because it IS such a neat concept. and yeah, the show wasn’t awful, and there were parts i enjoyed, and i think the actors did a hell of a good job and they were fantastic. but originally this show was titled Jigsaw, like it’s meant to be that every episode gives you a piece of the puzzle and it isn’t until you watch every one that you finally understand the full picture.
is that difficult to do? maybe. except that it HAS been done before.
not in the same way, not with episodes that you can watch in any order. but there was a blueprint they could have used to help direct them on how to do something like this.
in How I Met Your Mother, season 7 episode 15, “The Burning Beekeeper”, the episode is structured where it shows you five minutes, the same five minutes, in three different rooms. five minutes in the living room, five minutes in the dining room, and five minutes in the kitchen. and in each room, there are things happening that you have no context for, because you have to understand what is going on in the other rooms. it’s not until you’ve watched each of the three rooms that you get the complete picture and you have all the pieces to understand what’s going on.
this is what they could have done. have episodes that are all the same amount of time (1 hour, 2 hours, or the whole night perhaps), during the heist, all in different rooms. and characters move in and out of the rooms but you only have context for the room in the episode that you are watching. things happen, stuff goes off the rails, but you don’t know why until you’ve seen everything else. (this could work with shorter episodes too, maybe more like half an hour.)
obviously, this requires a much different story, because you don’t get the same kind of backstory. but the heist plot could still work with this concept.
to use the show as an example, there are a few moments where things happen elsewhere that characters are not privy to. the crew in the vault doesn’t know what is taking judy so long or why she’s not answering on her comms. they see that the FBI suddenly shows up but they don’t know why. it’s a concept like this, stretched out more, that they could use. you don’t know what happened to judy until you watch the episode that shows you. you don’t know why the FBI showed up until you watch the episode that shows you. and so on and so forth.
it could have been so much more.

All right, time to start getting into meta, but before I do, a proper introduction! Hi guys!
Now why was I motivated to go seek out a New Zealand period drama about the breakout of WW1? Well, he’s on the poster, you can figure it out!
Tumblr media
It’s a six episode miniseries that’s kinda scarce on the internet; at the moment it’s apparently on MagellanTV (at least according to the YouTube listing). There’s only the one season and each episode is 45 minutes, so there’s only 4.5 hours of TV here.
(I’m gonna whine a bunch about the plague of six and eight episode miniseries later lol)
I should also note that this show basically has no fandom at all, at least that I could find. All the Tumblr content for it is currently on this blog, and is less than 48 hours old. Like, it doesn’t even have any works on AO3! Imagine!!
So first off, quite obviously I’m not a New Zealander! Nor am I Māori (dang, my keyboard autocorrect actually can be helpful!). Just a dirty black ‘Murican, ok? Any historical and cultural context that the watcher is expected to know, I’m entirely ignorant about.
This is an ensemble piece, starring the Smiths, the blandest white middle class family you ever saw — I’m sorry, I just had so little investment in any of them! — and two Māori characters who fall in with them, older sister Awa and younger brother Manaaki Kokiri, played by Shavaughn Ruakere and the one and only conqueror of my heart, Alex Tarrant. Look at them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Without giving any spoilers, this show packs EVERYTHING in there — racism/colonialism against the Māori, xenophobia against European immigrants, pro and anti war tensions, systemic misogyny, religiosity, and don’t forget the GAYS. All on top of the ‘war is hell’ stuff typical of Modern Conscientious War Media. My point is, there’s so much stuff in this show that that it can’t end naturally in six hours, as the last half of the last episode in particular comes at you so fast it’ll break your neck.
I want people to watch this show, but if you do watch it, be prepared to get to the end feeling like there needs to be more!

Demon Slayer Seasons 1-2 (season 1, Mugen Train Arc, Entertainment District Art) Or: The Show I Watched Because of Subliminal Crane Games Messages* Or: The Anime Commentary Wherein I Lose All Chill
Jot-it-down-as-it-happens LENGTHY commentary.  No manga spoilers, I’ve yet to read it. But anime spoilers!
*I basically binge-watched crane game challenges, and the YouTuber kept going for Demon Slayer stuff, and it was time I watched an anime, so I was like, “...Alright. Demon Slayer it is.”
-Lmfao, not me tearing up in the first five minutes of the show. Haaa, this will be fun.
-Shut up, Nezuko is protecting Tanjiro from the Destroyer of Demons wielder, whatever his name is, I cry.
-Ngl, I really like Giyu, he’s my anime type.
-She’s been asleep for a year? And a half?! For two years?!?!
-I’m so proud of Tanjiro, I’m crying.
-I’m not crying, you’re crying.
-I love that we clarified Nezuko has a will of her own. I love Nezuko.
-Zenitsu is… You can’t handle him. He’s impossible.
-Zenitsu, you survived the final selection, man, do something!
-Zenitsu…? :O
-I legit want to deck Inosuke, so I assume we grow to love him.
-Giyuuuuuuu
-I miss Nezuko when she’s missing from eps.
-I’m not falling in love with Giyu in his two-second appearances, why would you even… wh…w…
-Shinobu is terrifying.
-Gosh, I love the art so much.
-Shut up, I’m crying for Rui, no.
-Yooo, I simp for Giyu.
-Oooh, I’m looking forward to the Mugen Train Arc, it feels intriguing.
-There’s something so cozy about Rengoku.
-Everyone smiles so much and so gently, I love it.
-Tell me more about fighter!Zenitsu, dammit!
-You really don’t realize how underleveled the kids are until a Hashira pops up and you’re like, “...Oh… OHHH… They have a lot to learn.”
-Rengoku can’t… can’t die, right? Surely?
-No?? No???? He’s not dying, right???
-The demon fucking survived???
-No??? No????????
-I am traumatized. This was intense. I am devastated. That was superb. How distinct each Hashira is in their brief reactions. I am traumatized. Help.
-No :( . Help, no, unmake it so!!
-I don’t like these stakes. Noooo, why Rengoku, noooo
-This feeling of “This is it, there’s no one coming” is so real and so chilling.
-I love the Mugen Train Arc. I am also severely traumatized by the Mugen Train Arc.
-Well, now I can’t not read the manga, I want to know everything about everyone!
-I like Rengoku’s little brother, I’m glad we’re getting to know him a little.
-Man, I love these kids, I hope it all goes well for them.
-Oh I see, everyone’s off their rockers in the Entertainment District Arc, I love it.
-Wtf, Flamboyant Hashira is unrecognizable in his plain disguise, amazing.
-Ah, if only Zenitsu were in Makio’s house he’d have heard it all from the get-go.
-I’m such a sucker for characters staring at each other in profile.
-Upper Six?! If we lose another Hashira back to back istg.
-Zenitsu and Inosuke are suffering in the houses, meanwhile Tanjiro’s out there living his best life.
-You really feel the hopelessness when they fight upper rank demons, they’re giving it their all, all alone, and the demons are just toying with them, I hate it (affectionate).
-Don’t go showing me Rengoku now, I’ll cry!
-As someone who’ll read the manga, I’m stressed, this boy makes me stressed, I don’t know who’ll live and who’ll die and I am stressed, why did Father Kamado die in the first place, did it have to do with the Sun Breathing, I hope not, I am stressed. Part of me is desperate for spoilers just to be prepared in case, but dammit, what about the thrill of discovery. Idk, idk, I might peek a little. I don’t know, argh!
-I have come to the conclusion that the more I like something, the more desperate I am for spoilers.
-I’m fine, it’s fine, we’re fine.
-Nezuko, my baby, I cry.
-I hate this anime (affectionate).
-Nezuko and Tanjiro are fighting it out on the ground and the bloodied-arm woman is just standing there, LEAVE WOMAN RUN
-I’m not crying at the lullaby, why would you even… why…
-Uzui is alive, I am rejoicing!
-THERE’S AN ONIICHAN? Oh no. Did I speak too soon
-Friend, you have blood in and around your eyes, I am worried. Go to Shinobu’s. Now.
-I am led to believe that all of the Hashira are magnificent. I am fond of them.
-Goddamn cliffhangers!
-I am assuming that in the manga we spend time with each Hashira, right? I’ll be kinda sad if we don’t.
-The OP song is such a vibe though, I always bob to it.
-Please don’t die, Uzui, please don’t die, please don’t die
-Can we talk about Zenitsu tho
-Yes, Inosuke!! Yes!!!
-Um! UM! Excuse you, Inosuke stabbed?!?!
-WHAT?! EXCUSE YOU?!
-Uzui??? What is happening, what is this!
-Is this for real, is it actually happening, is everyone dying
-Yes, Tanjiro, do it!!!
-UZUI!!!!
-This is the darkest timeline.
-Inosukeeeeee!!!
-Fucking finally!!
-Tanjiro can look freaking terrifying, man.
-What?!?! It wasn’t over?!?!
-Casualties! Tell me the casualties! Goddamn cliffhanger!
-Love hearing Nezuko speak.
-Last ep 32 minutes?! That’s terrifying, what do we need 32 minutes for?!
-Nezuko!! Nezuko!!
-Everybody lives!! Just this once, everybody lives!!
-Hard-hitting though, what Tanjiro said earlier. That the demon siblings could’ve easily been him and Nezuko.
-You know what’s amazing. Regardless of how the villains are written (and I personally think they’re well-written), they are given depth just by Tanjiro being Tanjiro. He makes them matter.
-The Master is so happy, I’m crying. I don’t know why that would affect me so much, he’s just usually so composed, I-
-We’ll find out what happened to the Master, right? About his condition?
-I am so damn relieved.
-I freaking love this anime.
-Wait, season 3 April 2023?!?! EEEEE!!!
-I’m… I’m feeling a void, a mild grief now that I’m done with the anime, but ffs, there’s 23 volumes of story to go through, it’s fine, we’re fine.
-I’m feeling the anime hangover, I’m feeling it. It’s been a while.
-Will we see Uzui again.

There, we are progressing the Damian family plot and giving Yor her own cast of characters, progression, and moments to be awesome and awkward. Are we all happy now?
And I’m jumping right into spoilers, so read the chapter first before proceeding.
Spy x Family, Chapter 65. By Tatsuya Endo, translation by Casey Loe, lettering by Rina Mapa. Available from Viz.
As usual, I remain oblivious to a plot twist coming, or a detail that is probably obviously telegraphed that I just wasn’t noticing.
In retrospect, Yor’s new friend should obviously have been recognized as Damian’s mother, Melinda. Yes, we never saw her before, not even in Damian’s memories of home. But her wealth and her fixation on a “patriotic” women’s group were clues, and she really does resemble Damian, down to her eyelashes. (This is how you draw characters with limited family resemblance, not engaging in the “same face” problems of, say, Fate or “Death the Kid was Shinra Kusakabe’s spiritual grandson all along” crap.) Even Melinda’s earrings, with the eye motif (more like an Illuminati triangle), invokes the eye motif around WISE’s symbol and Donavan Desmond’s owl motif.
But the major hint that I was missing was that we start this chapter with Anya talking about Damian, Yor worried about Anya befriending Damian–and then I get distracted by the funny hijinks of Yor’s panic over being a good parent, then shopping, now a volleyball contest, to remember, “Oh, yeah, we did talk about Damian at the beginning of this chapter,” before, surprise, this is Melinda Desmond, Damian’s mother.
I also should have sensed that this was Damian’s mother, given the foreboding nature to this seemingly polite and “nice” person that I sensed just in the undercurrent. Keeping her eyes obscured for so long reinforced that worry, to the point that I thought this was actually Twilight’s handler in disguise. But after the last six years of seeing “nice” white people deciding they were fine with fascism and bigotry so long as their rightwing anti-abortion fuckwads got into elected office (especially the 55 percent of white women who voted to that orange Nazi), of course this white woman enjoying wealth, access, and a “patriot” group is firing off every last red alert in my brain, beyond the historical allusions made to Cold War Germany.
But enough of the serious stuff that reminds us that the United States is still heading towards fascism if people don’t vote (fucking register to vote at this link and go vote for Democrats–Jesus Christ, what other rights do Republicans have to take away and Democrats have to protect for you to figure this out?).
Let’s talk about what good this chapter did with Yor.
A complaint I’ve had, that I don’t think I’ve shared on this blog yet, is how Spy x Family was going to have a challenge giving Yor enough attention when her first major arc in the manga isn’t until too late to get adapted in the first half of the season. That’s not ignoring excellent stories for Yor in that first half, such as protecting Anya from the kidnappers. But so much of the later part of the manga does more to progress her character, including the cruise ship arc and her reaction to Twilight’s work relationship with Nightfall.
Despite this challenge, CloverWorks and Wit Studios made sure that the first half of the season would expand Yor’s role, including in the dodgeball episode. And I wonder whether those adaptation choices influenced how Endo plotted out this chapter, not only for how to stage sports scenes but also to direct focus back to Yor and her desires to improve as a mother. After all, Yor’s training of Anya in dodgeball looks a lot like her performance with volleyball in this chapter, including the destruction her blows deliver, with some definitely unbelievable but still hilarious instances of superhuman strength that sends the volleyball into orbit–and no one in this cast allows that to get in the way of enjoying Yor’s company. It is such a bizarre moment, to suspend disbelief here, but it works, because the characters just accept it and move on. (I know I should only allow myself one instance of dunking on it, but this is how you justify cartoonish moments, Fire Force, not wrapping up your series with plodding exposition.)
This chapter also provided some new reaction images for Yor, especially her Cat in the Hat-style balancing act with Melinda’s purchases, or when lost in the mall and panicking in front of the makeup vendor. (I’m surprised we didn’t re-enact Wonder Woman choking that mall makeup vendor in the Justice League cartoon.) But I did think the translation, or maybe the original text, stretched the gag about Yor fearing “piercing eyes.” Then again, not every gag can be a “swole chihuahua.”
The transition to the sports hall for volleyball was also an awkward one, but it did keep the plot moving, and it’s not unbelievable that Yor would get roped into the game. I just wish there was a little more dialogue beyond Melinda’s assistant Nola saying this game would be an additional “reward” for saving her. Plus, as I said, Yor’s ferocious gameplay, as well as her teammates’ rather subdued annoyance at her style of play, provided some pleasant memories of the volleyball bout in The Way of the Househusband.
Of course, the game is an action beat to allow the dialogue-heavy conversation that follows to help Yor realize she has made friends, that she is able to appear “normal,” that her challenges in being a wife and a mother are to be expected (although, jeez, Yor, learn how to cover up better beyond “more or less” when asked if you’re married) so that, after this lull, we are surprised to learn Melida’s identity. Now to wait for the next chapter to see whether Melinda’s presence helps Twilight’s mission, helps Anya befriend Damian–or whether Melinda is also on the same page as her husband when it comes to war, or perhaps is ahead of him in fomenting war.
Random Asides:
It’s been awhile since I wrote about Spy x Family, huh?
Is this the first chapter to have the Spy x Family logo feature the silhouettes of the Forger family forming the “M”?
I feel like I am missing chapters: was there an instance of Damian promising cake that I’m forgetting, or is Anya just lying? Because if she’s lying, that’s a weird choice on her part, after that one chapter where she realized how much her parents and uncle lied–and it did them no good.
We’re going to get a ton of shipping art between Yor and Melinda, aren’t we?
Shameless plug: I set up a Twitch account to, among other things, live-read new manga releases…and then failed to hit record until 20 minutes into the stream and when I was done talking about One Piece…and had my Internet fail and not retain any of the clips…while it takes my Internet forever to upload what I did record to YouTube. …Yay…

SEASON 2 OF THE OWL HOUSE!!!
          RUHGISN/LIFNALARNGLIENARE
Onto business first and foremost! We get twenty-one episodes, an extra one to make up for the rather odd, nineteen-count from the first season! That’s forty episodes in total! Then Season 3…
OH, Season 3… I love it but it hurts! The Lord giveth and taketh away, it’s confirmed, but it’s only THREE 44-minute specials! By my calculations, that’s about the length of SIX normal episodes… THE OWL HOUSE IS SO DANG POPULAR AND THIS IS WHAT YOU DO DISNEY?!?!! First Amphibia’s finale gets screwed over, THEN this?! But at least Amphibia gets its full third season… At least I assumeit does, oh for the love of Titan if it doesn’t…
It is extremely imperative that we petition Disney to let TOH’s third season be full-length! Because Dana herself admitted that the main reason she left Twitter was to cope with THAT news, and… OH MY GOD POOR DANA you fought SO hard against all odds to give us this show, this previous love-child of your mind and heart and spite, for this!? But it might not be too late- If we assault Disney with our demand, they MIGHT just change their mind! SO GET ON WITH IT! Let the cartoon community rally AGAIN!
           But, right-
The first half of episodes for Season 2 is going to be TEN episodes, the second half will be eleven! Already better than the first season, but as a reminder, that’s what we’re getting so far before our mid-season hiatus! And on THAT note…
We have confirmation for the first FIVE episodes, which will begin airing just a mere FOUR WEEKS from now! We have Separate Tides, Escaping Expulsion, Echoes of the Past, Keeping Up A-fear-ances, and Through the Looking Glass Ruins!
These episode titles spell out “SEEK T”, presumably “Seek t(he)”, so we can already guess the next two episodes after TtLGR! That leaves fourteen more letters for the Season 2 message; The last one was “A witch loses a true way,” so perhaps this season is advising Luz to seek something that will help her get back home? Something that will help her confront and defeat Belos? A little bit of both?
Separate Tides is the season premiere! Luz is feeling guilty about the loss of Eda’s powers, poor girl, so she’s going to set sail for a lucrative bounty? Interesting… Perhaps a real Bloom of Eternal Youth? Something magical and bile-related? More lore on the nature of magic and its origins???
Escaping Expulsion… hoo boy, THAT’s what we’ve all been looking forward to! Odalia and Alador get Luz, Willow, and Gus expelled?! No rights for them, even if that was already obvious but WOW. But more importantly, Luz strikes a deal with the two?!? What do Odalia and Alador want from Luz, to get her back into Hexside?!?!
Dana mentioned how Season 1 had more focus on Hexside at Disney’s request. Given how Season 2 is more her style and freedom, we might see Luz and the others remain expelled from Hexside, if only to detach them from the coven system for the time being as their rebellion grows… And give focus to OTHER things as well! Which is going to suck a LOT and I’m going to hate Odie and Al even more for this, taking away not just Luz’s opportunity but also Willow and Gus’… Especially Willow since they DID follow through on that threat, holy shit, Amity and Willow must be hurt and traumatized from this!
But what do Odalia and Alador want from Luz? Do they want to use her as leverage against Belos? To use her FOR Belos? I’m suddenly reminded of that idea I had about Odalia and Alador being interested in Luz as like, an actual suitor for Amity… GOD my Lumity heart would actually love it if that were the case! Obviously in the long run it’s bad and for THEIR purposes, but the idea of Luz learning to be more proper for them, for AMITY really… Oh man, this is reminding me of my speculation of Luz and Alador parallels! We might just see what makes Alador so interesting to Dana in this episode, and just the SECOND one of Season 2, no less- Right into the story meat!
ECHOES OF THE PAST! King lore! KING LORE!!! Even better Luz, Lilith, and… HOOTY… go to a new island?! An island related to King’s past? Is Eda sticking with King to make sure he doesn’t do anything, or god, did King’s antics get her into trouble again? And Hooty… HOOTY is coming with Luz and Lilith???! I’m grateful for Luz and Lilith interaction, we might get to see them talk things over, but how is Hooty…? Is the house coming along?
Dana mentioned two spoilers and a lie, one of them was Hooty leaving the house! I guess this is one of them… The others were Camila beating someone up and Gus getting a growth spurt, which we’ll get onto later; So I think Camila beating someone up is the lie! Dang it… But a dangerous new island, could this be related to the various pieces of Titan bones mentioned in The Unauthorized History of the Boiling Isles, scattered throughout the boiling seas, all alluding to another incomplete Titan?!
Are they KING’S REMAINS??! And his bones are incomplete because he still has his SKULL!!!!
Keeping Up A-fear-ances is pretty obviously Gwendolyn. Screw you, Gwen, and the confirmation that her presence is causing strain for everyone… YIKES. Hopefully we’ll get Young Eda and Lilith backstory, and see how they transitioned from the YBOS flashback to present-day! Perhaps Gwendolyn DID help Eda when she first transformed… Either way, I do not like her. But she’ll be fascinating to see!
Through the Looking Glass Ruins! As I said before, Gus gets a growth spurt, and he’s trying to impress kids from Glandus… Which YES GLANDUS, more schools lore! But uhh… If they’re at Glandus, is it because they didn’t get back into Hexside after all, and they’re moving to a different school? Luz and Amity are exploring a dangerous library there, which, Lost in Language flashbacks! But why is AMITY there… Oh Titan, does SHE choose to leave Hexside at the end of Escaping Expulsion, as a means of defying her parents’ will, to go with the friends she loves! If so… YEAH AMITY! That, or she’s out on a visit. Will Amity run from home and live with the others, or maybe Willow and her dads? Gus and Perry? Or will she still be at the Blight Manor… Dana wasn’t kidding about Emira and Edric being distracted from Grom!
Maybe Amity works something out that gets her expelled from Hexside, and Glandus is the new school for her, who knows? Perhaps it’s because of Belos, and so Odalia and Alador are furious, but they want their kid at a school regardless, so Glandus it is! The Hexside Banshees lost their best captain… Not that she was even playing so it doesn’t matter, but still! THIS would be quite a shock and change for Amity! And Luz, Willow, and Gus… Dang, they’re just losing a lot huh?
If they ARE going to Glandus and enrolling there, then maybe the episode will end in a failure, or maybe they’re pretending to in order to access the library, maybe a library incident will get their enrollment cancelled! I’m interested in seeing Glandus’ location, we know it’s on an island elsewhere… I kind of want to see the principal of Glandus, will they be cool like Bump? Have a rivalry with him??? Hexside lore??? FORBIDDEN SHIP BETWEEN BUMP AND GLANDUS PRINCIPAL??!?!
But yeah, those are the episode synopses, and they promise a LOT! It seems each episode so far is just pure character or plot stuff… Not to dunk on ‘filler’, which I think is misused for a lot of episodes honestly, but I like it! I guess Dana and crew have to make the most of their time thanks to Disney’s weird thing with Season 3, screw you Mickey… But yeah! I’m definitely gonna say more stuff and talk about the intro, but for now, I AM HYPED!!!

my top 10 favourite game characters
im not much of a gamer person as i normally watch random stuff on youtube, draw or read goosebumps books, but when i do play games, HOLY CRAP some of the game characters i encounter are flipping awesome. i wont give much information about these characters away because i dont want to give out spoilers. so i made a top 10 list of my favourite game characters (in my opinion)
(i dont own any of these gifs, characters or games)
number 10 = Lisa from PT Silent Hill
Tumblr media
ah lisa, the first ever game character to scare the ever living hell out of me and cause major paranoia whenever i was alone. and thats what i love about her. to me, making me feel paranoia and having me look behind my back constantly, thats true horror to me and its flipping awesome. i also like her design as shes disturbing and the way she walks towards you while twitching violently as well as making noises that sounds like shes sobbing, perfect horror dude
number 9 = Nemisis from Resident Evil 3
Tumblr media
holy crap this dude is awesome, design and power wise. first of all his appearances is awesome, just look at him, he reminds me of “the thing” from the horror movie “the thing” but as a humanoid, that and his height makes him a very intimidating character and i love it. and his power, that he literally adapts to everything makes him a very good boss to fight. awesome. i was very happy to see that he was added to dead by daylight
number 8 = Junkrat or Jamison Fawkes from Overwatch
Tumblr media
i flipping love this idiot. i always pick junkrat whenever im playing overwatch to the point that im pretty much an expert now (im kidding, im no where near expert level). i also really like his personality as hes super smart when it comes to building stuff, yet he pretty much acts like a insane child and i love it
number 7 = The Huntress or Anna from Dead by Daylight
Tumblr media
holy crap the huntress is awesome, hard to play against though, but still good. the huntress is a really cool character as her design is intimidating, her terror radius is her humming, which is very creepy to hear, and her ability to launch axes at you, bloody hell it is very hard to win a match against her when your a survivor. i also really like her backstory as well (i wont reveal it incase i spoil it for anyone who doesnt know)
number 6 = Sans the Skeleton from Undertale
Tumblr media
ive liked the character of sans ever since he met frisk in the game, as he is a very interesting and mysterious character, i also like how hes very laid back but very protective over his brother papyrus. its been god know how long and i still cant beat his boss fight
number 5 = Clementine from Telltales the Walking Dead
Tumblr media
clementine! i love clementine, we literally watched this character grow up throughout the games from season 1 when she was only 8-9 years all to season 4 when shes 17? (i think shes 17? sorry if im wrong), and throughout the seasons she just became more and more badass and awesome. (its been 6 years and i still have no idea if im spelling her name correctly or not. shes still awesome though)
number 4 = Mono from Little Nightmares 2
Tumblr media
i love the character of mono, hes awesome, hes badass, hes adorable, literally everything about him is awesome. hes also really kind too, helping six throughout the game and saving them countless times (hell i even dressed up as him for comic con, hes really cool)
number 3 = Sal Fisher/Sally Face and Larry Johnson from Sally Face
Tumblr media
how could i not put this gif. i actually couldnt pick between which character i liked the best between these 2 because i love them equally. sal is really kind and cool, and larry is awesome and protective, espesially over sal. theyre honestly the perfect team
number 2 = John Doe from Telltales Batman the Enemy Within
Tumblr media
ayyy the guy that started my blog in the first place (its true, my blog was a batman telltale series blog before it became a goosebumps blog). john is my favourite character in the telltale games mainly because of how funny and awkward he is, half of the things he does and says is hilarious to me, plus when he turns into the vigilante joker, THATS when hes at his best, he tries so hard to be a hero and i love literally every scene hes in
number 1 = Yuka Mochida from Corpse Party Blood Covered
Tumblr media
sorry i had to use a gif from the anime because i couldnt find a gif of her in any of the games. i remember watching corpse party for the first time when i was 13 years old and ever since then, yuka has been always been my favourite character. she has to be one of the kindest characters in the corpse party games, and i flipping love that, especially given the extremely dangerous situations shes in (trust me, the situations are very dangerous). also shes flipping adorable
guys i highly recommend these games, they are flipping awesome (the games are: PT Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Overwatch, Dead by Daylight, Undertale, Telltale’s the Walking Dead, Little Nightmares 2, Sally Face, Telltale’s Batman the Enemy Within, and Corpse Party Blood Covered. they are all really cool)
what are you guys’s favourite video game characters, honestly i would love to know?
(i dont own any of these gifs, characters or games)
