Address: Peakhurst, NSW, Australia
Raise Your Voice by Lea Baker offers expert vocal coaching, helping students discover their free, authentic, well produced voice.
- What I Do:
I help people find their freely produced, efficient and authentic voice. I love to teach and empower students. Each singer is different, there is no 'one size fits all'. My sessions involve lots of physical and vocal explorations, positive reinforcement and lots of encouragement.
Using actors' voice training techniques, I help singers find freedom through embodying their voice and releasing unhelpful tension.
I believe ‘trying harder’ nearly always leads to vocal difficulties. When vocalists discover the power and range of natural, organic and instinctive sounds, they grow in confidence and ease - often discovering the voice they didn’t know they had!
I help those who rely on their speaking voice for their profession, such as teachers, public speakers and call centre workers (to name a few!), avoid vocal fatigue, become more engaging to their listeners and maintain a healthy voice.
- What I Offer:
Success in learning depends on finding the right Instructor; someone who knows the subject well and understands how you learn. My teaching style is practical, holistic, non-gimmicky, and based on science. Students learn how to sing or speak optimally. Clear specific language and examples are used, leading students on a self-discovery journey.  Everyone has a voice. My job is to help you release its full potential.
Here are the four philosophies I follow:
* Trying harder will almost always lead to a deterioration in vocal improvement. It’s finding the ease in vocal use that is the key. Less is often more.
* The most freely produced and authentic singing or speaking comes from your natural, organic and instinctive voice. Often it's noticing and releasing unhelpful vocal habits & muscle tension to find that voice.
* I believe learning is about self-exploration and discovery, with guidance from your voice coach. Doing what the teacher asks to gain their approval isn’t learning.
* Training at NIDA opened up a whole new world. Using acting voice training helps singers to feel and sense their voice, rather than just hear it.
Why choose me?
* I help the student discover for themselves with guidance and targeted techniques.
* I take the time to understand the mindset of the student towards their voice and address this in my coaching.
* I teach holistically – I teach the whole person, not just their voice.
* Students get clear explanations of the ‘why’ when to comes to voice usage.
* My Teaching is underpinned by a good understanding of the science and physiology of the voice.
* Finding the unhelpful habits or traits of the student and helping them rewire these.
* Experiential learning is key, helping students to discover for themselves, no “pleasing the teacher”.
* Learning is layered. What each particular student needs at this particular time. I don’t clutter them up with lots of ‘nice to know’ stuff - it's not about how much I know, it's about what the student needs to be a better singer, speaker or performer.
* Voice lessons are either online or in person (Covid safe).

Vocal Coaching Near Me: A Personal Touch
If you prefer a hands-on approach and enjoy the benefits of face-to-face interaction, seeking vocal coaching near you might be the ideal choice. Here are some advantages to consider:
In-Person Connection: Working with a vocal coach in your local area allows for a personal connection. Your coach can observe your progress, and offer immediate guidance to fix errors.
Structured Learning Environment: In-person coaching often follows a structured curriculum, ensuring you build a strong foundation and progress steadily.
Local Networking: Vocal coaching centers or studios can introduce you to a local community of singers and artists, offering opportunities for collaboration and support.
To find vocal coaching near you, start by searching online, asking for recommendations from local musicians, or checking out community bulletin boards and music schools.
Vocal Training Online: The World as Your Classroom
Technology has created many possibilities for learning resources for those seeking vocal training. Online vocal coaching offers numerous benefits:
Flexibility: Online lessons allow you to schedule sessions at your convenience, making it easier to balance your training with a busy lifestyle.
Access to World-Class Coaches: You can connect with renowned vocal coaches from around the world, gaining access to diverse teaching styles and expertise.
Cost-Effective: Online coaching often comes with low fees. You may call it pocket-friendly.
Recorded Sessions: Online platforms often provide the option to record and revisit your lessons, helping you track your progress and practice effectively.
To get started with vocal training online, explore dedicated websites, and platforms, or even reach out to your favorite singers or vocal coaches to see if they offer online lessons.
Making the Choice: What's Right for You?
The decision between vocal coaching near you and vocal training online ultimately depends on your preferences, goals, and circumstances. Consider the following questions:
Do you thrive in a one-on-one, in-person setting, or are you comfortable with virtual interactions?
Is there a specific vocal coach you admire and want to work with, regardless of their location?
Are you looking for a more structured, curriculum-based approach, or do you prefer flexibility in your learning schedule?
Remember that regardless of your choice, vocal training is a journey. Consistency, practice, and dedication will be key to your success.
In conclusion, both vocal coaching near you and Vocal Training Online offer valuable opportunities for growth and development in your vocal journey. Whether you choose the personal touch of in-person coaching or the convenience and flexibility of online training, the most important thing is to take the first step toward honing your vocal skills. So, go ahead, find the option that resonates with you, and embark on a transformative journey to discover the full potential of your voice.

my ask got eated I finks...
tips for transidol, kpop idols specifically:D? thankuuuu~
- @transvirtualangel :p
Tumblr media
TRANS K - POP IDOL . . .
For the basics , learning Korean is obviously a good start ! There are lots of online free courses for that !! :D
Familiarize with Korean beauty standards ( if you haven't already ! ) - by being in the kpop community you can already learn a lot , but following korean influencers can help too !
Learning dances - there are lots of tutorials on Youtube that gently teach you popular kpop dances - there is a range of difficulty , from beginner to advanced , and even disability friendly ones that we personally had lots of fun trying out ! :D
Taking up dance classes can help to cultivate your skills ! There are dance classes specifically based around kpop - whether irl meet ups or online courses !
Invest in vocal coaching / singing classes ! These can help so much to help you practice - there are many free personal courses , but also YouTube videos for at home / do-it-yourself coaching ! Tips ; learning how to rap gives you lots of point for when you may try auditioning ! So try learning in english and korean !
Invest in Korean skincare - it's defiantly god sent , but kpop idols value their skincare , so taking care of yourself is also very good !
Euphoria tips ! ↓
You can record yourself dancing and edit them on simple editing apps , like capcut or velocity , to appear like fancams !
Try doing korean makeup ! There are lots of tutorials on Youtube or you can follow korean influencers that do their makeup tutorials !
You can take pictures and print them out as photo cards ! If you have friends who are into kpop - you can propose the idea of all taking pictures and ' trading ' eachothers photos for fun ! ( whether or not you aren't out as transidol !! :D )
Write your own songs ! There are lyric websites that can help you get some inspiration + simple song makers like Soundtrap where you can create the music !
Join kpop dance groups ! There are online groups dedicated to meet up somewhere and to record group dances - which can make you feel like you have your own group !
Hope this helped - good luck transitioning and stay safe !

Sorry to ask so late, Tom I do not have a question for you. I merely wanted to say how much I admire you and view you as my role model. I am a transgender man living in a place where I am unable to access care for my transition. I hope someday to be as handsome and confident as you are being yourself with your gorgeous husband.
That being said do you have any advice for me?
Hey dude, I didnt want to make light of this because of the topic at hand, so I’m answering this directly.
I’m so sorry to hear that you’re unable to get the care you need, that you don’t get to see the person you are in the mirror, you are absolutely always going to be a brother in arms no matter what. You’re a man, that’s all that matters.
My advice? Do small “transitions” that could better affirm you, try to get more masculine haircuts or anything close to it, buy more unisex clothing, if you can afford it: a binder. All these small things that could help your identity while in your situation.
There’s also some vocal coaches online, who could help you train your voice, so you can reach a lower register when you want.
Good luck bro, I believe in you (here have Tom blowing you a kiss)

— when you initially come out to him, wilbur will feel completely honored that you felt safe enough to tell him. he'll ask a few questions, both general questions and questions of curiosity ( ex. “what's your prefered name/pronouns?” or “how did you figure it out?” )
— if you're not out to your parents or others just yet, he'll wait until you're ready to tell them. he'll use whichever name/pronouns you want him to use in front of anybody without question. in private, wilbur will use your prefered name and pronouns unless you tell him otherwise.
— when you bring up starting hrt ( if you hadn’t already started it before coming out to him ), he gladly helps you with any payments needed for it. he also asks questions and does his own side research ( because he wants to know everything and every potential side effect from it ).
— he loves the idea of vocal lessons, so when you told him you were going to start them he was quick to give you some names to vocal coaches who were trustworthy and could help. wilbur had long done his research into the coaches and made sure they weren’t going to do a complete 180 on you.
“-and then there's this one. She's really good from what the reviews say. She also has kitties, look.” Wilbur speaks with a huge smile, showing you a photo on his phone for the umpteenth time.
He had shown you a good four or five vocal coaches that lived in the area and had easy access. People who could do both in person and online sessions. You loved the initiative he tried and did take, especially when it came to helping you.
“Well, I've heard some things about this one. What do you think of them?” You ask, showing him the profile of another vocal coach, only to see him make a sour face.
“No, their reviews aren't the best. Most of them say they leave feeling worse than when they went in and that they're overpriced for their work. Plus, they're strictly in person and don't have flexible times.” Wilbur's words come out with a small huff at the end. He looks at you with.
“I won't stop you from going to them if you want to, just take the reviews and how you might also feel afterwards.” His words make you hum and nod a tiny bit.
“Yeah, I'll think about it.”
— he'll help pay for any surgeries you may need or want. he'll pay for any foods you may want to eat, no matter how expensive or not they are. he loves spending money on you and taking you out to dinner, especially.
— he absolutely loves dress shopping with you. if you're not into dresses, then skirts. if not skirts then still, he loves clothes shopping with you. he'll have you put on a tiny show of the outfits and will help you with styling together any clothes you may like. if it fits and you like it, he buys it.
— as i said, he loves taking you out to dinner. he also loves taking you out in general, whether it's to the park or to a cafĂ© in the area. he'll gladly hold your hand or wrap your pinkies together if you let him. he's generally affectionate with you if you're comfortable with it.
— wilbur loves nothing more than taking random photos of you. whether you're doing something completely normal like reading a book or something extremely random like sitting in a tree, he takes a picture. he'll definitely show it to you after with a proud smile claiming how wonderful, beautiful, and gorgeous you are.
“Will? What are you doing?” You ask, looking over to him from where you stood in front of the oven. You had been trying to make some cake and had ended up with some flour on yourself when you tried to mix it together.
Wilbur stood off to the side, his phone in hand with a big goofy grin on his face as he looked at his screen. “Nothing much, just admiring the divine woman in front of me.” He claimed as he stepped closer and showed you his phone screen. A picture of you practically glaring down at the mix in the bowl like it had personally offended you.
“Absolutely magnificent and beautiful.” He’s got a ton of pride in his voice when he says it, not afraid to admit his admiration for you.
Wilbur makes a sound of surprise when you suddenly throw some of the mix at him, giving you an incredulous look. Placing a hand over his heart, he dramatically spoke, “You wounded me fair lady, however will I recover!”
To which you just throw more of the mix right at him, making sure not to miss.

BOYS DON'T CRY
Tumblr media
a/n: this is just a quick little something i wrote for mason, it actaully pains me to read all the hateful comments he receives. i hope he knows how much he is loved. song boys dont cry by camilia cambello
i know thoughts you don't want in your head
are spinning 'round, 'round, 'round
i know you got demons from the past
slowing you down, down, down
but you don't answer your FaceTime
you never had much of a poker face
it doesn't make you less of a man
you're just human right now
the amount of hate mason was receiving online was alarming, every move he made he was getting criticized for.
he didn’t vocalize it to you; however, you knew that it was getting to him. you saw past the fake smile he’d mustard up when discussing his performance with his father, telling tony that he was just in a rough transition right now, having a hard time adjusting to potter’s way of coaching.
he thought you were bought into his act as well, reassuring you that everything was fine and you shouldn’t worry about the rude comments. he insisted it didn't bother him, that he knew of the challenges of a footballer career when he signed up for it.
when I'm afraid of the world and every part of me hurts
you don't know how many times you've saved me
so why you hiding from me? It's only making it worse
i just wanna be close, my baby
you had caught him one afternoon reading the comments, stopping by his house since he had been ignoring your calls. when you first heard the sniffles, you thought he was just simply catching a cold but when you investigated further and saw the golden boy at the dining room table with a few fresh tears streaming down his face with phone in hand, you knew it wasn’t the common cold.
approaching him slowly and bending down so you were knelt in front of his thighs, you finally saw his true emotions towards the situation. bloodshot eyes and a running nose were what your eyes settled on; he tried shifting his posture and hiding his face when he saw your sympathetic look. not wanting you to see him like this because his old man had always told him boys don't cry.
“mase, baby, stop trying to hide away from me. you are only making it worse, you need to talk to someone about how you are feeling.” just wanting to hold him close, stood up and you settled down into his lap. he instantly wrapped his arms around your waist, nose nestling into your neck.
fingers finding a home in his tangled hair, you created a safe place for him to cry. his body shook in snobs, tears hitting the flesh on your neck, as he finally expressed his true emotions.
“i have given this club, the fans, the owners, my all. I have played through injuries, i have been the poster boy that they have all wanted for me to be. although the second i hit a rough patch, the second i’m not scoring enough goals, i’m the reason why we are last place in the league? that all our problems will solve if i no longer played? how could they turn their backs on me so quickly, love?”
give me your pain
i'll take the weight off your shoulders
don't be afraid
fall into me, let me hold you
we weren't made
to hold back the rain from the sky
who ever told you that boys don't cry, boys don't cry?
it absolutely broke your heart seeing him like this, there was nothing more that you wanted to do than to take the tremendous weight off of his shoulders. you knew mason was afraid of getting traded, the thought alone of chelsea using the player nineteen as a scapegoat made you angry. you thought it was hilarious that these die-hard faces screamed for mason’s removal but forgot how he was the player of the year for two consecutive years. it was as if all his hard work had now vanished from the memories, that now he was just some washed up player who didn’t deserve a spot on the team.
you knew now more than ever that you had to be there not only physically but emotionally for mason. us as humans weren’t made to bury this type of pain within ourselves, how everyone needed an outlet.
you gripped him closer to your chest as you whispered reassuring words to him, “everything is going to be okay, baby.”

I'm sorry if you've been asked this before, but have you trained or studied professionally to become such a good both writer and voice actor, or have you just improved in those things that which were probably once just an hobby?
P.S. love your stuff!!!
Nope, I rawdogged the whole thing. I've taken exactly one vocal coaching class which was in the past year and it was...interesting? Think we ended up mostly talking about me probably having ADHD, which then led to my diagnosis and treatment but also they may have subtweeted me the next day (unrelated to the ADHD stuff) which kinda hurt. It wasn't super negative but it definitely felt more than coincidental and didn't make me feel remotely safe or comfortable seeking that sort of thing again. Shit like that sucks.
As for the writing, I've been writing since I was a little lad, and I just sorta did it until it sucked less.
Turns out the secret sauce is just doing things earnestly and because you're passionate about them. People gravitate towards that. The rest improves over time.
Also, at this point there are so many wonderful resources online, I think you can arm yourself with a wealth of information and put things into practice without soul crushing student debt.
The only time I truly wanted to go to school was a brief moment in time where I thought film school could have been for me. I had fucked up my high school years and made no plans, had no guidance, and by the time I thought it might be a good idea, I felt I had missed my shot. And then, I was a dumbass kid in a dumbass relationship and decided to stay behind out of a foolish sense of obligation and trying to give someone else a better living situation rather than prioritizing my dreams and passions.
So no formal schooling for me, but there was no shortage of lessons along the way.

Websites we do NOT recommend for systems or those questioning
The Plural Association/Power to the Plurals
Reasoning: TPA (and by extension Power to the Plurals) claims to be a nonprofit, but does not reveal financial information, audits, or annual reports that are common among respected, genuine nonprofits. Most of TPA’s resources are behind paywalls, with options to donate on every page of the website. We’ve written before on why we think TPA/Power to the Plurals is a grift (in the link are sources to back our claims). The creator of TPA/Power to the Plurals has also manipulated statistics to make alternate claims, and does not understand the differences between fusion and integration in disordered systems.
Astraea’s Web
Reasoning: Astraea’s Web is very vocal about being anti-psych, anti-therapy, and anti-recovery. They continually refer to DID as MPD and drive a wedge through the plural community by attempting to separate and distinguish “natural multiples” from “disordered systems.” They have referred to systems seeking treatment or struggling with dissociative disorders as “basket cases” and attempt to claim natural multiples are better than and unaffiliated with systems with complex dissociative disorders. It is their plainly stated goal to demedicalize complex dissociative disorders and have them removed from the DSM! They sensationalize dissociative disorders and rely on stereotypes to get their messages across - on their site, they mention the infamous Sybil case almost twice as much as they mention dissociation or dissociative disorders.
You can read their FAQ to see all of this for yourself (brace yourself - this website is rife with ableism!)
Kinhost.org
Reasoning: Like Astraea’s Web, Kinhost is also anti-psych, anti-therapy, and anti-recovery. They would rather plurals pay for their life-coaching program than seek actual treatment for debilitating symptoms. They scorn therapy and treatment in their Multiple Manifesto, and claim that receiving treatment is akin to “being experimented on” which could not be further from the truth. The system who runs this site has referred to systems seeking treatment and the state of therapy today as a “therapocalypse” and is very open about being anti-recovery for systems who desperately need it.
Websites like these divide the plural community, cause misunderstandings, spread horrible stereotypes and disinformation, encourage infighting, and reject recovery. They perpetuate an “us vs. them” mentality that pits “empowered” (ie natural or nontraumagenic) multiples against systems with or without DID or OSDD who require treatment in order to live happy lives.
We’ve recommended some of these sites in the past before we knew more about the empowered multiple’s movement and exactly what it entails, or how each of these sites have caused tangible harm in the past. However, we will never recommend or advocate for these sites in the future.
Please take care of yourselves and use critical thinking when searching for plurality resources online. Watch out for ableism disguised as resources for nontraumagenic plurals, and remember that all systems are valid and unique in their own ways. No one deserves to be vilified or outcast for seeking healing, recovery, and stability, or for listening to experts and doing research.
