IT GIRL APPS
(You don't need all these apps. You can pick and choose the one's that suit your needs and lifestyle 🧡)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎀 Notion
Notion is a wonderful app and a must have. It can be a bit complicated to use but its only because it has so many features. You can organise your whole life in just one app. Just the free version is so amazing and detailed.
Since it takes quite a lot of time to set up and can be very overwhelming if you are a beginner, I would recommend you check out the youtube channel of Sab Yang. Her notion videos are a lifesaver.
Also the video that basically explained the major features of notion to me was this. It is the only video you need in my opinion so do check it out.
🎀 Milanote
An alternative to Notion is Milanote. This is in case you want something that is more simple to operate. But just as it is simple, it also lacks features and in the free version you can only use a 100 cards or so.
I would recommend to use notion on a daily basis and to use Milanote just to plot out your mothly/quarterly/yearly goals, whatever suits you the most. You can try both and figure out which is more convenient.
🎀 Google Calender
Although notion calenders is available now, that app requires certain permissions (at least on phone it does) that I am not willing to grant so I will still go with Google calenders.
If you are a student or a working individual, this is a lifesaver when it comes to keeping track of certain dates.
🎀 My Diary
My Diary is an online diary. It has a lot of ads but it is very cute. You can also use notion to journal and to script etc but mydiary has a tag feature where you can tag certain entries and it organises it and helps you find the ones you need easily.
🎀 Goodreads
If you enjoy reading, you must have goodreads. You can create shelves, rate books and drop reviews and also make friends and be aware of what they are reading.
🎀 Kindle/ an eReader app
Kindle or an eReader app is also very important. Easy access to books or documents and also epub files.
🎀 Pinterest
I don't even have to explain this.
🎀 Period Tracker
If you menstruate then a period tracker app is so useful in helping you keep in check with your cycle and care for yourself accordingly.
🎀 Daff Moon
It is a moon tracker. It keep in track with different phases of the moon and what planets it is in.
If you are a spiritual person or if you practice cycle syncing, this app is so amazing.
🎀 Duolingo
Amazing app for language learning. The free version is also so amazing. It makes learning language a game.

Unleashing Focus: How Pomodoro Transformed My Procrastination Habits
Hey fellow students! 👋 Today, I'm sharing a study game-changer that turned my procrastination habits around : the Pomodoro Technique. As a second-year electrical engineering student, I've faced the challenges of balancing coursework, labs, and exams. The Pomodoro Technique has been my secret weapon, significantly improving my focus, productivity, and overall academic performance.
Overcoming Procrastination
I used to be a notorious procrastinator. The daunting size of tasks overwhelmed me, leading to delayed assignments and last-minute cramming. Enter Pomodoro, and everything changed.
Pomodoro in Action
Here's how I apply the Pomodoro Technique to overcome procrastination and boost my grades:
Clear Goals: Before each study session, I set specific tasks or topics to cover during the Pomodoro intervals.
Timed Focus: Using a simple timer app, I dive into focused 25-minute (up to 50 minutes) study sessions, eliminating distractions and boosting productivity.
Short Breaks: After each Pomodoro, I take a 5 or 10-minute break to refresh my mind, stretch, or grab a quick snack.
Longer Breaks: Every four Pomodoros, I reward myself with a 15-30 minute break to fully recharge.
Results Speak Louder
Since adopting the Pomodoro Technique, my grades have seen a remarkable improvement. The structured approach transformed me from a procrastinator into a focused and efficient learner.
If you're battling procrastination and seeking a study routine that works, give the Pomodoro Technique a shot. It's not about the quantity of study hours but the quality of focused learning.
To keep myself motivated and help other students, I recorded my study sessions using this technique and made them available online. You can check my channel if you’d like to give it a try.
Try it out, and let me know how Pomodoro works for you! Happy studying! 📚💡

Note
Do you have any tips for people who are losing their ability to think up sentences quick in Spanish? My Spanish talking skills are atrophying after a year or so of not using it regularly except for the Mexican grocery store… my reading and listening skills are better. Help! (Hope you’re having a good new year)
There's really only one way: you have to start speaking it more and finding other people to speak with and listen to
Your skills are getting rusty because you're not using it regularly, and there's unfortunately no other way to fix that aside from using it more regularly and getting more comfortable doing it
That isn't to say you can't talk to yourself or try speaking alone like pronunciation or reciting things, but it's one of those things where you need to make Spanish a priority for yourself and put yourself out of your normal routine to get more practice and experience
This can be talking with people in person, making friends and practicing online with voice notes or on whatsapp or something, but I don't know any other way to get better at speaking that isn't just... speaking?
(I hope that didn't sound mean I was trying to figure out how to phrase it because I thought it might be abrupt - I just don't know any other way myself. To me it sounds like you know the problem and you identified the cause, so you have to take steps to change things up. Does that make sense?)
-
There are also some apps like MeetUp where they have online zoom sessions in your area for learning languages (or really the app is about finding people to do things with so it isn't just languages but still; I've seen book clubs and D&D meet ups, depending on your area you might have lots of options for learning and talking). And I would also check out your local library to see if they have language opportunities or if you're in school there are sometimes clubs and student activities that have practicing languages
