There’s a certain fun thematic element to making Whisky Peak roughly analogous to the American Southwest, aka the setting for a lot of cowboy films. Oda is a big fan of classic films, including some from the era when Japanese samurai films and Spaghetti Westerns were constantly ripping each other off.

Whisky Peak has a lot of callbacks to the Spaghetti Western genre, with the strangers coming to town, a damsel in distress, bounty hunters, betrayals, a dramatic duel, and of course the lone gunman swordsman fighting a whole town by himself. In particular this mission-style church as the backdrop for the finale to this fight keeps making me think of similar scenes in classic cowboy movies, but I’m pretty sure Oda didn’t intend for it to have the same symbolism it would in a movie from a country where Catholicism is the dominant religion.

I find it really neat that there are kits you can buy that just have little control boards on them.

I've recently got into building kits/Lego set since they are great for scratching that creative inch when I'm too burnt out to do any of the thinking needed for my own personal art.

I mean hopefully I will soon not be so burn out that I can art for myself more again. But atleast until then I can be amused by tiny motors and simple circuit boards
