Chapter five: Discovery Channel (In which you find out you have fans)

Warnings: Idk sort of Hi3 lore spoilers? Void Archives is his own warning

Why the hell did you even bother to think you could fix the absolute red flag that’s the divine key sitting on the chair next to your bed?

The more the Kirschtaria look alike spoke, the more you were convinced he should have been booted off the train. Too bad you couldn’t let your intrusive thoughts win in the meantime— Welt doesn’t know just how worse this guy could get, shared goal be damned.

“Okay so uhh, you were with Welt to fight a bunch of people in the sky right?” You said, trying to go along with whatever the fuck he was saying— it wasn’t like you didn’t know what they were doing beforehand, but it was easier to pretend you didn’t know shit.

“Yes, and we were in luck because Himeko had saved us.” He said, smiling. For a moment you would have been utterly bamboozled but you knew better.

You thanked your new brain that functioned as fast as a supercomputer, because you knew everyone in this train would be dead meat if you were slow.

“I see… that’s good to know she managed to get to you in the nick of time then.” You told him with a light hearted laugh, you swore that the more he looked at you, the more suspicious he became. If you were going to kick this man off the train it would have to be a vote of majority, but since he wasn’t acting up just yet you were going to postpone that meeting.

He was still on your watchlist, though.

Void Archives opened a bottle of expensive looking whiskey and poured it on a cup, and then another, and handed one to you.

“A toast.” He said, but you heard “An offering of friendship”. It was at least good to know he knew he shouldn’t fuck around with you.

You accepted the glass, drank it and grimaced.

“Not a fan I see.” He shook his head as if to mourn your lack of taste in the finer things in life. But what would he know? He’s a cube.

“I don’t like it, but I can drink it.” The taste of the whiskey burned in your throat. “Tastes a little funny though.” You murmured, Void Archives didn’t react much to your statement and continued to drink til he emptied the bottle.

It took him an hour, but at least the empty bottle signified he overstayed his welcome in your room.

“Let us meet again tomorrow morning, I want to speak with you soon.” He told you before he left.

Good grief, what a creep.

You never did end up speaking to him, instead heading towards Welt Yang, who you want to vaguely warn.

“I know you knew Void longer than you know me,” you began, but you already know Welt was more likely to believe you than the cube. “But keep an eye on him, he gives me a bad feeling.” Plant the seed of doubt, slowly but surely, so that the damage to the express can be minimized.

“I’ll.. keep that in mind.” Welt inhaled, stiffly nodding at your words as you patted him on the back.

“Great! Also, if things come down to it, you have my say in kicking him off this train.” You grinned, waving before disintegrating into particles as you returned to your original body.

Famous last words to be spoken.

Because five years later, on a Christmas Eve of all occasions, shit happened. And Void Archives was booted off the train like the red Amogus on a community vote.

Was it chaotic? Yes. Was it like a court hearing than an actual community vote? Also yes.

You had plenty of evidence presented, including the first instance you invited him to your room— because what do you know, the whiskey he gave you was drugged.

He did plenty of horrible shit, and even Himeko, poor patient Himeko, had enough.

You felt a little bad for Welt though having to deal with the aftermath, needless to say, everyone, except you, needed therapy on that train.

On the upside, someone better did replace the blonde and that was Dan Heng who joined you a few weeks before Void Archives was booted off the express.

“Well,” you blinked. “That was something.” You said out loud as Dan Heng shook his head. “Sorry you had to meet that guy.”

Dan Heng brushed it off, instead focusing on staring at the Christmas dinner that Pompom prepared for everyone and poked the turkey on his plate with a fork, before properly digging in.

It wasn’t exactly an ideal way to start your holidays and welcoming someone in the crew properly in a celebration, but you supposed it’d have to do.

It was at least one less toxic bitch off the train.

You didn’t expect you’d deal with your own information being displayed in the databank though. Dan Heng wasn’t creepy about it at least, not that he knew you were an Aeon— specifically, the Aeon that ate Akivili (you still feel bad about that).

“Libertas, huh.” You let out a snort as you read your own little book. In there, it was written on how you were discovered, and what you stood for, along with a group that eventually became your followers.

You hummed, thinking it was rather endearing to see the Avgin there as some of your believers. It was interesting on how you got a following, no matter how small, in the few decades you existed in this world.

It wasn’t just the Avgin, there were others who you did not know too who believed in you, and others who you did see when you had peered into planets to see what people were up to.

It was sweet in a way, for them to cling to you for belief as they sought true happiness in the way of freeing themselves and others.

You wanted to keep it that way.

You read into the pages more, finding out what kind of worship people dedicated to your path; there was a statue of you in one city in some planet hundreds of light years away, in another planet there was you in a tapestry, in another you had a statue and a painting inside of a massive church akin to the ones you saw in photos of Rome.

It was a little overwhelming, and you felt a little shy at the recent discovery of all of this.

You closed the book and put it back on its shelf, exiting Dan Heng’s room to ask Pompom for tea after helping them with their chores.

Unbeknownst to you, Dan Heng knew you were an Aeon— and an Aeon he believed in in some way when he had heard of you in the whispers of the guards in the recent years he’s stayed in the Shackling Prison. It wasn’t exactly difficult to piece things together with the context clues around the place, not to mention, Himeko did end up telling him.

You wouldn’t be angry about it, she said to him. You were apparently rather human-like, and kind.

Himeko wasn’t wrong, and Dan Heng was going to trust that judgement. Is he wary? Yes, you’re an Aeon after all, you were plenty big of a deal.

But Pompom didn’t seem to be scared of you, and Welt spoke to you with a sense of respect. You regarded everyone in this train with a certain familiarity— Dan Heng did feel like you were a bit strange due to the feeling of “uncanny valley” you gave him, but you were kind to him and you were welcoming.

He was welcome in this place, he had a place to stay, and a purpose, as meager as it was.

Dan Heng thinks things would be alright from now on.

infodump more about welt suffering and welt in general. please?

I've played quite a bit of HI3 and have been playing HSR, which made me finally interested in welt. the gravitas of his eng VA's voice his chef's kiss - I think he's one of the few characters who doesn't sound like "I'm reading this from a paper in a studio" in english - and I dig his design and powers. but what side material do I actually read to get welt lore? there's so much manga and I've only seen screenshots

Quick side topic about his English VA. I love how it fits Welt so well, in my opinion. I play Impact 3rd with CN dub, but for Star Rail he doesn’t have the same CN voice actor so it threw me off at first, but I gotten use to it after I tried to stop associating with another Impact 3rd VA.

I am putting this here already, this is gonna be very short explanation. Is this post short? No absolutely not, but I’m trying to cut details to try and make it short as I can and have it make sense.

Let us start off with some basic information about Welt Yang and now he inherited the name plus the Herrscher of Reason core.

Before there was Welt Yang, there was Welt Joyce, the first Herrscher of Reason. Sadly Impact 3rd does not explore much of Joyce, and most of the information on him, Otto, Anti-Entropy, and even about Tesla and Einstein is all a Visual Novel that never got a true English translation. However, it did get fan translations and oh goodness it’s a lot there. We will speak only of the information we got about Welt Yang from this Visual Novel.

Around the time this VN takes place Welt Yang is 8 years old since it’s 1955. He is the kiddo in the middle, and man oh man he went through a lot!!!

Welt’s dad, Elias Nokianvirtanen, really did care for Welt. He would often travel with his dad who was working for Schicksal.

There is important information to note, and if I don’t explain it I feel like so much will be lost and the reason all of this is important. There are two major groups at the time (1955). Schicksal and Anti-Entropy (AE). At first AE was just the Northern American branch, and there was a lot of tension between the two. After a bit of… fighting, they did manage to make Anti-Entropy.

The reason they were with the AE, was because Elias was forced to sabotage AE because Otto was threatening Welt’s life.

Than there is Welt Joyce. Welt Joyce is one of my personal favorite underrated characters, and the way Joyce really wanted to protect humanity tells you everything.

Now what does these gentlemen have in common-? Their deaths are connected to Otto. Otto killed Elias due to the reason he was there slipped, and Joyce risked his life to protect New York from being nuked by Otto.

At this time as Welt was trying to help Joyce, Joyce asked him what he thought of the name Welt. Welt mentions he likes it, and Joyce not only passed on the name Welt, but also the Herrchser core.

Now, here is where we get to the fun bits. Fun fact: in the manga Second Eruption, Otto was legit like flabbergasted. Cause you know, THE FACT HE KILLED IS SUPPOSEDLY ALIVE. Only than to see it wasn’t Welt Joyce, but someone else and this manga just really shows you how strong Welt can be.

Now in Second Eruption, their goal at the start was just “hey we need to find this new herrchser.” So guess what? They gotta work together a bit. There was a small comment that I feel gets over looked and that is, Otto never really taught Siegfried or Theresa how to use their divine keys, and Welt made a small jab at this. I don’t hear people really mention this, and I don’t know why it is such a small fact I love to bring up.

There is a really important fight scene that happens among these pages/chapters between Welt and Sirin. Here we get to see more of what Welt can do as the HOR, which is once he learns the structure of a human creation, he can make a cope with honkai energy. Now I don’t wanna go to much detail into this fight cause how I’m typing won’t do it justice, but we get a tiny new conflict pop up! What is this conflict? A clown, more specifically, Otto. That’s Otto Apocalypse himself.

When I saw Otto has basically made it his personal goal to take down Welt, it being Joyce or Yang, to take down AE, and just do his plans, I mean it. This man goes so far, and I can do a whole essay about Otto, because he is an extremely well written antagonist. However, that will be for later in case anyone wants that just tell me. But Otto could have done more to Welt here, however Siegfried was there! Since Siegfried is key to Otto’s plan he just leaves and they both luckily make it back to safety with VERY bad injuries.

Here some random fun facts about Welt Yang that I recall on top of my head cause he gives the brain serotonin!

Welt Yang for the first bit having the core couldn’t sleep tho to the fact that the core houses over 300k people, and he never really complained of any struggles it gave to him, but we learn during the HoD arc when he speaks with Bronya he is concerned about her and ask her all the things she is experiencing.

It’s mention in Second Eruption that Welt would try and ask Einstein to play the piano, also he mentions around that same chapter I believe that if he didn’t inherit the HoR core he thinks/wonders if he would have become a teacher or linguistic like his father.

Facts relating to Arahato is that one his company had a whole copyright issue with Otto’s game company, the Arahato is heavily based of Joyce, and the line “Witness the stars shatter before you!” Comes from Joyce, but Herrchser of Truth Bronya (HI3RD) and Welt (HSR) say this line! Also around the Thus Spoke Apocalypse arc, it is mentioned by Einstein that one morning Welt made breakfast for the crew but it wasn’t much since he made it but implies he knows how to cook!

This is more from Star Rail, but is Serval is in your express she actual mentions Welt cause he asked some questions, but here is the tumblr link for that!

i think the reason why people don’t like mai for zuko is because zuko is already a very grumpy, angry, pessimistic person and so is mai soo they reasoning is that he needs somebody with a more opposite and optimistic, personality like jin and katara who are more nice and caring than mai idk cause zuko does cheer up a little at the end aand katara is more supporting at the end at least oor that’s what people say idk what do you think? why does zuko chooses mai and not jin or katara? and what do you think of the people who “knows whats best for z ??

Anon, I'm gonna be honest here: the people that genuinely dislike Mai with any kind of bias affecting their judgement are very rare. Anyone who tells you the overwhelming hate she gets, both as Zuko's girlfriend and as her own character, are not 99% the result of zutarians being bitter that she "stole Katara's man" are either lying to you or were lied to.

Mai, alongside Ty Lee, is one of the most chill antagonists of the show. Zuko was far grumpier and MUCH more furious than she ever was. Hell, her main deal is that she is always too chill because she was taught to repress her emotions and not voice her opinions.

THIS is why she is Zuko's true opposite, the yin to his yang. When he is letting his emotions cloud his judgement, she's the voice of reason. And in turn, when she's getting too distant, he makes get out of her shell and connect. They've had their issues, sure, but by the end of the show they were all pretty much fixed.

Also, I would NOT call Zuko a pessimistic character. He has low points and moments of panic, but that boy kept himself mostly sane during three years of exile by holding onto to hope that, maybe, just maybe, this supposedly dead enemy of his nation that had been seen in 100 years was not actually dead, thus his mission wasn't pointless, and he'd have a way home. Just look at how over-confident Zuko is battle and at how many life threatening situations he got himself into because he acted without a plan, assuming that everything would turn out alright somehow. That boy is an optimist. A grumpy, moody, reckless optimist, but still.

Again, that's the kind of situation where he and Mai would ballance each other out. She likes the thrill of these adventures as much he does, but she will NOT act without thinking. Hell, she won't even put up with stuff that is not dangerous but that she considers beaneath her (see her refusing to follow orders in "The Drill").

This is thing that really bothers me about shipping, not just in this fandom: people forget that no one wants to date their clone, but no one wants to date their COMPLETE opposite either. You need common ground.

Katara and Zuko have the same temperament - proud, strong-willed, stubborn, wearing their hearts in their sleeves, and willing to get VERY mean when pissed off (never forget the "The stars look beautiful tonight. Too bad you can't see them, Toph!"). Then being a couple would just BEGGING for them to have some very ugly fights. As for their differences? Like I've said a million times before, their goals in life are so different they wouldn't even live in the same country. How could a romance between EVER work?

Ty Lee's temperament would be a good ballance for Zuko's, but the most common ground they have is they hang out with the same two girls and maaaaybe Zuko believes in auras too since he basically demanded Mai to defend herself when Ty Lee insulted her aura (this is totally not me letting my headcanon of Zuko taking that stuff 100% serious and writting down everything Ty Lee says on the topic cloud my judgement). Other than that, we see that Zuko clearly wants to be Fire Lord, and while Ty Lee just wanted to go back to the circus or travel around with her new friends. We barely get any interaction between them, so acting like there's evidence for her to be his perfect match is quite the stretch.

Same for Jin. They got along well enough on their date, but that was just for short bit of an episode, not even the entire episode itself. That's too little to claim she could be "the one" for him.

With Mai meanwhile, we had a ton of episodes, in which we got to see their relationship's ups and downs, and see that they managed to bounce back from some pretty serious conflicts and still clearly adore each other after it all.

As for Zuko choosing her over any other girl, it's simple. He likes her. He likes her dry/sarcastic humor, how badass she is, how much she enjoys physical affection, how she doesn't put with any bullshit fro anyone (including himself), how she was bold enough to basically tell him, Azula and Ty Lee to fuck off, how pretty she is when she hates the world (unbelievably iconic line) etc.

Mai is Zuko's type of girl, she likes him back, and they are compatible, and thus they ended up together. It's not rocket science.

Zuko: I don’t even know what to say.

Katara: You were incredible!

Toph: You pull off the craziest stunts.

Ty Lee: The way you turned all gigantic like that, wow! Just when we were losing, a miracle happened!

Mai: There’s never gonna be a dull moment with you, is there?

Sokka: Are the elemental spirits ok? Appa? Yue? My dad?

Aang: Yes. All souls that were absorbed, including Yue, Appa, and your dad, are now free and are going in peace. But I no longer draw power from the lion turtle spirits or elemental spirits, they all draw power from me.

Sokka: OK. Good. As long as they’re ok.

Suki holds onto Sokka’s arm and rests her head on his shoulder. Cut to Aang and Azula at the northern portal.

Azula: Now that you’ve reconnected with Raava, have you also regained your past lives?

Aang: No. That link is gone forever. I am now the first Avatar in a new line of Avatars.

Azula: You don’t say. Let’s just close the portals and call it a day.

Aang: (Reaches for the portal but stops and hesitates) Maybe I shouldn’t.

Azula: What makes you say that?

Aang: I think with the spirit portals opened, it’ll restore the ancient balance between our world and that of the spirits and it’ll help eliminate the illusion of separation that divided us for so long. Appa’s physical body may be dead but I can still sense his spirit. Iroh’s spirit is here too. Everyone we’ve ever loved and lost. What do you think?

Azula: You’re the avatar, this is your type of situation, whatever your decision is, I’ll support you.

Aang looks at the portal and smiles. Cut to the rest of the gang gathering together in front of the third middle portal. They all collapse in exhaustion. Zuko and Katara held on to each other, Sokka and Suki did the same thing as well as Aang and Azula.

Zuko: I can’t believe a year ago me and my sister’s purposes in life were competing against each other and hunting you down. And now…

Aang: No. Less than 50% of all living creatures in the physical world manage to survive but they’re all headless. All of their homes and establishments have been destroyed. No nations to govern them. No rulers to lead them. Every member of the white lotus and the original benders are all still dead.

Azula: That’s where we come in. We’re the only ones left alive who know the goals of the white lotus, so it’s up to us to complete them. The white lotus and the original benders shall be reborn through us. (To Aang) Any bright plans that you would like to share regarding that?

Aang: Even though we should learn from those who came before us, we must also forge our own path. So, as we rebuild, we should announce that we are bringing back the era of energybending and give everyone a choice to bend more than one element like me, I'll continue to be the avatar only because of my avatar spirit. This may blur up the avatar cycle but the avatar being able to reincarnate at all is good enough for me. The portals will also remain open, which means I will no longer be the bridge between the two worlds. “Pause the game”.

“Excuse me!?”.

“Emerald, pause the game, Ruby’s on the phone”.

She did pause the game, made a big show of it just to announce how pissed off she was that she even had to do it.

She muttered something about bros before hoes and Oscar didn’t even have time to blush before Ruby was chattering away at him.

“Oscar! It’s been so long, how are things with you guys? How’s your aunt? How’s Emerald? Shit! How are you?”.

He chuckled at the speed of her speech and waited a few seconds for his brain to catch up.

“Emerald is going great Ruby! She just loves listening to you two stammer your way through a conversation”. Oscar flipped her off and heard Ruby mutter something on the other end of the line, “what was that?”, he asked, still giving Emerald the finger.

“Yang wanted me to say that she’s happy someone else understands her pain”.

“Geez, we’re not that bad are we?”.

Ruby snickered into the receiver and the endearing crackling of it made his heart skip a beat or two.

“According to our older sisters, we sure are!”.

“What’re we gonna do!?”, he mocked, making a face at Emerald.

“Kill yourself”, Emerald muttered at the exact same time Ruby exclaimed, “get new sisters!”.

“Sounds like a plan!”.

“I am not going to just sit here and listen to the two of you slander my good name!”, Emerald threw her hands up in exasperation.

“Then leave”, both he and Ruby said in unison, earning him a sweet laugh from Ruby and a groan from Emerald.

“You and Mercury are just as bad, at least Ruby’s not living with me! In the house my most generous friend Oscar invited me and only me to!”.

“We don’t come separately! You knew this!”.

“Looks like you bought one and got one free”, Ruby chirped from the phone that he had forgotten he was holding, he grinned guiltily, even though she couldn’t exactly see him, and scolded himself for letting Emerald distract him from his goal. Which was to talk to Ruby.

“Hey Em, you wanna go elsewhere?”, he asked sweetly.

“Else-where?”.

“As in, somewhere else! That isn’t here!”.

“Fine, you’ve just made this room lame anyway”.

He waited until he heard her footsteps enter the hallway before returning to the matter at hand.

“Sorry about that”, he grimaced.

“Don’t apologise, not our fault our sisters don’t have lives and exist only to annoy us”.

“Yeah, but I’ve dedicated my life to getting her back for being annoying so it’s really such a vicious cycle”.

“Same, yesterday Blake was over and they were being so disgusting right in front of my salad, so I sprayed her with water”.

Oscar barked a laugh at the unexpected action.

“No it’s not even funny, I shouldn’t even be telling you”.

“Tell me!”. He demanded instantly.

“Only ‘cause your cute”.

“You can’t even see me”.

“I just have a feeling, am I wrong?”.

He huffed and tried to physically stop smiling (he couldn’t).

“Well, Mercury said I looked like a Boy Scout this morning, so I’m unsure”.

“You do, but in a cute way”.

“I hate that guy”, Oscar grumbled.

“That’s just ‘cause he’s dating your sister”.

“They’re not dating and she’s not my sister”.

He could hear her scoff through the phone, “be for real, she lives with you and calls you lil bro”.

“She actually calls me shithead, I’m only little bro in front of her beloved aunt may”.

Ruby laughed a little too hard at that, it made the phone crackle like a campfire which in turn made Oscar think of all the campfires they used to build in the war, which made him sigh with nostalgia.

“What’s wrong?”.

“Just thinking about how I miss when we were still at war, like a total dick”.

She sighed too, it was exactly like his.

“No, I know what you mean. I miss the camping and the whole… togetherness of it all”.

A moment of silence and then…

“I- I miss you”.

He sighed like it was the one thing he didn’t know he had been waiting to hear. “Yeah”, he let the words fall out of him, filter-less, “I miss you too, a lot”.

A companionable silence stretched the moment out, not unlike their many comfortable quietly moments they’d had during the war. The moments of peace, the calm before the storm.

“What? Dad cmon! Dad, it’s Oscar”, he could hear bits and pieces of some conversation taking place between Ruby and her father and subconsciously straightened his posture.

“Oscar, I’m really sorry, dad needs the phone for work. Can I call you later tonight or-“.

He heard Ruby’s dad say something like ‘not at night!’.

“-or Tomorrow morning?”.

“Tomorrow morning sounds great!”, like hell he was gonna complain about he dads rules in front of her dad.

“Okay- I’m really sorry I have to go! Bye Osca-“, she cut off, the familiar click of being hung up on rung through the silent room.

Oscar sighed, then rearranged his face so to look not totally let down. “Em!”, he called out, “we can unpause the game now!”.

“Awww Oscar”.

He jumped completely into the air, nearly screaming at how silently she’d came into the room. Picking up on his confusion, Emerald shrugged guiltily.

“I’ve been here the whole time”, and then, more seriously, “please don’t be mad at me”.

“I’m not”, he sighed. Because he really should’ve expected nothing less, it was just the dissatisfactory way he’d ended his conversation with Ruby.

“What’s wrong dude?”.

“I don’t know, nothing”.

“Okay, want me to reset the game while you mope?”. He nodded and slumped onto the couch and threw his scroll to the other side of it. Emerald pressed a few buttons and slumped right beside him.

“You wanna know something?”.

“No”.

“I’m gonna tell you anyway even though Yangs gonna fucking kill me. So like, avenge me”.

“Fine”.

“Ruby is constantly begging to use the phone. She’s even trying to get their dad to order her some fancy one from god knows where that has great storage, you know, for those long distance calls”.

He shot up from his sulking position, making hard eye contact with Emerald, “where did you hear this?”.

“Yang, duh”.

“Since when do you and Yang talk? I thought she hated you”.

“She hates Mercury, which is his business. Can you blame her for falling for my charms? Also we both have gross siblings who have gross crushes on each-other, so there’s that”.

“Be honest, why were you talking?”.

Emerald let out a long, suffering sigh, “she threatened to beat you up if you hurt Ruby, I threatened to beat Ruby and her and their little dog up if they hurt you”.

He gasped, “not Zwei!”.

Emerald stuck her fist in the air, “yes Zwei! That’s how much I love you, I’ll destroy a poor doggy”.

“I love you too”, he moved closer to her, grabbing his console and refusing to show her his own stupid grin.

Bsd ch 105 – Atsushi’s insecurities and Sigma is just a baby xD

Hello~~

This was short albeit interesting chapter and good transition for what’s is to come… And Dazai-Sigma interactions were pure fun^^

Anyways, short but still plenty to analyze XD

Okay, starting from Atsushi-

What is interesting that this time voices of ADA members + Fiztgerald are tormenting him:

It is like his fears doubled with low esteem about how others view him and what expect from him. Though orphanage headmaster is not here – it is still the belief that he instilled in Atsushi, that he has only right to live if he is useful to society.

Which ofc is wrong one, as everybody has their own worth no matter usefulness. In addition, nobody from ADA is looking down on him and he is important to all of them as found family. And even Fitzgerald agreed to help ADA because he recognized Atsushi’s spirit.

But still it is more about Atsushi’s insecurities and how they are weighing him down and make him afraid of taking any action.

Then to break him from this stupor passivity – Akutagawa aka his other half appears and then Dazai aka his mentor appears to show him way out. No matter what DoA true end-goal is – passivity is not an answer.

Akutagawa and Atushi are yin/yang symbolically – werewolf were-tiger and vampire now xD - opposites with similarities that are complementary and they need each other to move forward in each own life.

After all, it is always Akutagawa’s influence that springs Atsushi into action – at beginning it was more like Atsushi trying to refute Akutagawa’s disregard for other’s life. His perseverance and fighting spirit gained Akutagawa’s respect, which showed Atsushi that he has worth on his own and helped to try moving past orphanage headmaster’s teachings.

Enemies -> unlikely allies -> lovers and now this arc is test if they can become new version of Soukoku. Akutagawa already passed, but Atsushi not – as he wasn’t ready to trust Aku completely.

(Though it wasn’t said openly in this chapter – imo Atsushi thought that Akutagawa appeared to blame him for his death…)

Basically, there is still character development for Atsushi to go~~

Although he is going outside -  he doesn’t want to make decisions as he simply wants to be told what to do by person of authority = Fukuzawa. He still doesn’t believe in himself and that he can be hero on his own. He still need to find and realize his own strength within – the tiger – to become better version of himself and help overcome current situation.

My rough guess what will happens next  – imo Atsushi will run into vampire!Aku targeting Aya and Bram and protect them, then realize that ADA plan to kill Bram was wrong and what needs to be done is granting all vampires free will.

Also we got another death flag for Fukuzawa – at this point I will be more surprised if he will live though ^^’

Though it is hard to say if these are correct guesses and how exactly it will go, Asagiri is unpredictable sometimes xD

I must say it is endearing how Dazai is treating Sigma like a child a trying to teach tricks and lesson about life xD After all, despite Sigma’s adult appearance he is still a kid symbolically as he lived for few days only... and Dazai treats him accordingly xD

Personally I don’t think that Dazai wants to manipulate Sigma or has ill intentions – imo Dazai planned his way out of prison long before Gogol and Sigma’s involvement.

In addition, during casino arc he stated that Sigma is no terrorist, meaning that the latter is not really guilty and is just used by DoA. After all, he was from the start manipulated by Fyodor and he had no real agency. Artificial casino stands for fabricated sense for belonging, which he needs to let go – Sigma literally is a baby and he needs to grow up and find belonging for himself.

Btw I won’t be surprised if after this arc Sigma will start working for Ango as form of repentance for striking Taneda. And maybe starting his own casino afterwards xD

Btw x 2 – it is fun how much Sigma is paralleled with 15!Chuuya^^ They both had no memory of their past due to artificial tampering, and are searching for belonging and reason why they live. And Dazai has important role during that search with lot of teasing xD

As for Dazai – it is interesting how he is composed and in no rush in this chapter – imo he is waiting for outcome of his attempt to drown Fyodor and Chuuya, probably hoping to see some indication of Fyodor’s ability. Though most likely he will just get very angry Chuuya in Arahabaki mode xD

RWBY ReWatch Volume 5: the one where jaune learns to heal and that’s the only important thing that happens, trust me

From here on out, I’ve only seen these episodes a grand total of once, during my initial liveblog of them. I have not rewatched Volumes 5-7 at any point, so these episodes are going to be the major refresher for me, as far as plot and details I’ve forgotten.

That being said, I remember liking Volume 5 least of all, but I don’t really remember why. IIRC (and I probably don’t) it felt like Volume 5 should have picked up the slower pace that Volume 4 set, but because the story was so divided, it didn’t really accomplish that. It ended up being pretty disappointing.

So, let’s see if Volume 5 fairs better with a rewatch.

I’m trying to remember the song for the Volume 5 OP before it plays, and I have NO idea what it was, or what it was even about. The same for Volume 6, but I adored the Volume 7 and 8 OPs, so I remember those pretty well.

Going through the character shorts now, and I forgot that the action in Volume 5 took a dip in quality too. It’s not anywhere near bad, but it’s noticeably slower than the action in RWBY usually is. Not nearly as exciting.

Sad to know that the reason Lionheart was so happy to know where the Spring Maiden is was so he had new information to funnel to Watts.

How did Oscar find Qrow? Did he just happen to see him, or did Ozpin tell him to walk into every bar in Mistral until he found Qrow, lmao.

Adam’s new model in Volume 5 make his horns much easier to see.

I forgot how absolutely gorgeous Sienna Khan’s design is. It’s such a shame how underutilized she was.

God, I hate Adam SO much.

“This curse was bestowed upon me by the Gods, because I failed to stop Salem in the past.” Isn’t it interesting that the Gods are always far more interested in punishing someone than just giving them the tools they need to accomplish their goals? I’d think it’d have been far more useful to Ozma to make him immortal in the same way Salem was, than to just have him reincarnate himself over and over.

There was probably a reason for that that wasn’t just punishment, but like I said, only watched Volume 6 once, so the finer details escape me.

Kind of funny that the bandits thought they could keep a Schnee contained. I mean, even without her weapon, her semblance is pretty versatile, as she later demonstrates. 

The scene with Yang just calmly whooping bandit ass is soooo *chefs kiss*. Like, god, I love her. 

This is the first fight she’s been in since she fought Adam, right? Such a simple spat that she easily wins, but the rush of adrenaline just reminds her body of her last fight, so she can’t even enjoy it. :c

The hug between Yang and Weiss is so beautifully framed. The lighting, the colors, the way the knight shimmers away, Weiss’ feet not touching the ground, she’s just holding onto Yang for dear life. But also the fact that she fully trusts in Yang and her strength that she knows Yang could easily hold her up.

ALSO Home starts playing?? Cause Weiss is finally ‘home’ with a piece of her family and why am I crying???

So. Who is that a painting of that Corsac and Fennec are standing in front of? I have to assume a family member, cause it looks like they have Fennec’s ears.

It’s almost funny what a poor job Raven does at trying to convince Yang to stay. “You’re family and friends that you’ve known for so long have been lying to you, but I, family in name only and a practical stranger to you, will tell you the complete truth if you stay with me.” And she says this after being antagonistic to Yang the entire conversation.

Yang says “no more lies” if they’re gonna work together, and Ozpin agrees, and then immediately proceeds to keep lying alkdhskhahfks

“I know all about your master.” Wait, that’s right. Raven must’ve found out that Salem can’t be killed, that’s why she ran away from helping Oz.

“... a fall maiden with a surname so appropriate, she probably picked it herself. Something tells me you’ve got a slight case of ego-mania.” afkjsdkhalsfsfs

Cinder was so blinded by her ego and the chance to enact revenge that she readily agreed to inviting Ruby and Co. to Haven, and couldn’t see how obviously that was part of Raven’s plan. Like, if they had just followed the plan the way Watts wanted to, Cinder would’ve had the spring maiden’s power and the relic relatively easily. Then she could’ve just  hunted Ruby afterwards. 

Ohhh, the song that plays when Ilia and Blake finally face each other and grab their weapons is soo good. A dramatic swell that highlights the tragedy of the moment.

Knowledge, Creation, Destruction-- all of these are pretty self explanatory in what they might do. But what the hell could the Choice Relic possibly do? Something big, I assume, if Oz wanted it hidden directly under his guard, and he made it much more difficult to find than the others.

Also, I’m sure there’s something to be said about Choice being the most powerful of all, but I’ve not the brain power to put that into words, and being hidden under the incredibly manipulative Ozpin.

And speaking of the relics, I imagine the first thing Salem would ask Jinn is how to find the relic at Beacon.

“I’m not afraid, I’m smart.” What?? lol Salem’s goal is the destruction of Humanity, and you are human. There’s nothing smart about not choosing to fight her because if she wins you’ll still die.

It’s kind of sad to see how reliant on her summoning Weiss became. She’s trying very hard to summon her knight, even when she doesn’t really have the opportunity to, and gets taken down by Vernal in a few hits because of it, but she’s normally such a capable fighter.

Hazel and Gretchen, Hansel and Gretel is the inspo, I suppose.

Hazel’s motivation is so weak. Like, Ozpin wasn’t even the one who killed her, he just didn’t tell her no. And Hazel’s really willing to kill all of humanity just to spite Ozpin??

Ohhh, damn. It’s crazy to see just how far Cinder’s Grimm arm encroaches onto the rest of her body in the future. In the reveal she still has her shoulder at least.

Holy shit, I forgot Weiss stabbed Hazel in the kidney with the lancer stinger.

Raven’s lucky that her daughter is actually a good person, and didn’t tell anyone that she was the spring maiden.

i mean... blake could’ve still apologized for abandoning them like that :V she had her reasons, but it was still fucked up. Ruby at least left a note when she left and apologized to Yang when she later saw her.

That was Volume 5! All in all, not bad. I still enjoyed the volume, there’s nothing immediately wrong with it. Plot wise it was good, and I wouldn’t say it was slowly paced. Just that the story being split between so many characters made it feel a lot slower, at least until the last 5 or so episodes. There was also a notable lack of action this volume, in comparison to previous volumes, and what little there was was just... alright. For a show like RWBY, whose action segments was a major selling point, it is pretty disappointing.

That being said, I enjoyed a lot of the character moments and plot threads that we were given here.

Delnik and Kindel

For this task, I investigated into my character and character's world to be able to create them in more depth and complexity.

Delnik and Kindel 

Delnik

Delnik is an immortal mage who was born with the elemental power of Air, however throughout his years he has learned to steal and wield the energy sources of Earth and Fire. There is a tale that when one is able to harness all elements, they reach enlightenment and the final element of Life. He is Peking Opera-esque looking. 

Delnik was born with a twin brother, who is a magic crystal ball: Kindel

The pair represent Yin and Yang. Delnik is only afforded the powers of creation when he harnesses a new elemental, while Kindel is afforded the power of destruction. The pair keep each other at an equilibrium, but if separated, they could become the ultimate embodiment of good and evil and Kindel will be able to destroy the world.

Delnik hates the warlords that control him, but without their men and backing, he would not be able to learn or practice any new magic. Kindel is thoroughly corrupted by the warlords and obeys them, so he is as bound to the warlords as Kindel is. 

At the beginning of time, both Delnik and Kindel were neutral, but as their magic grew, the more extreme the other became. 

Thousands of years ago, Delnik and Kindel fought heavily about how they should use their magic. This resulted in Delnik accidentally killing Kindel’s crush: a nosey fortune teller that carried him around everywhere and was constantly asking him questions. Kindel was outraged and sent fires through Delnik’s favorite creations, creating the desert. The pair were forced into reconciliation by humans, who were terrified of Kindel’s actions. The pair are both addicted to candy. An offering of candy is made by humans to the pair to honor their reconciliation. 

Kindel is impatient and petty and has little self control or regulation. Kindel has a huge character flaw, he has a huge ego coupled with the fact he falls in love extremely easily and lets the obsession consume him. He is unable to recognize when people are using him. He is constantly trying to impress the warlord’s sister, who convinces Kindel to continue on his death spree. 

Delnik is not well-liked, being constantly taunted as a “goody two shoes” by Kindel and his peers. He is constantly worried and questioning the righteousness of people’s actions, leading them to avoid him and his judgments. He comes off as arrogant to others. He is sensitive despite his age and experiences. 

Setting

Setting: Magic filled Earth-esque, War-torn middle ages

On this Earth, certain tribes hold power which are fuelled by their elemental energy source

Qiu people are invading Atlantis which hold the energy source for water power

Atlantis: Assyrian looking, crumbling underwater kingdom that is vulnerable 

Knowledge of magic in Atlantis is lost after the great flood, however energy can still be harvested by Qiu people, who send Delnik and Kindel to learn and destroy Atlantis so the warlords can use Delnik and Kindel to conquer the world.

Goal:

Seek out the water energy source, harness to gain control over last most powerful element: water

He wants to collect all the elements, in hopes he will be able to control life. The warlords and Kindel want to use it to kill and destroy, while Delnik wants to use the power to be freed of Kindel and magic, and be reborn as a mortal.

Challenge:

Equilibrium is being broken between him and Kindel through warfare, he becomes weaker as Kindel gets stronger. Kindel because uncontrollable and extremely destructive, which the warlords like. To not raise suspicion, he is forced to use his creation powers to aid destruction, which weakens the equilibrium more.

His challenge is to control Kindel to not completely destroy Atlantis, so he can harness the water energy and keep an equilibrium. 

Another challenge is to obey the warlords, who he hates with a passion.

An internal struggle he is faced with is control. He struggles with controlling his emotions which directly affect his powers.

Talent:

Natural ability: air mage

Learned ability: fire, earth

He is able to partially control Kindel, he is able to keep the equilibrium, but as Kindel breaks the equilibrium with more destruction than Delnik is creating, Kindel becomes an untamed destructive beast.

I really wanted to have opposing personalities, I chose this because I think it would be easier to portray i n a poster. I wanted there to be a sense of uncertainty with both of their powers.

Here were my original 120 words: (I did shorten to 100 words later)

This exercise was really helpful in the way of designing a backstory, like I mentioned before, I am not really one for planning nor narratives. I usually rush into creating before planning out these different factors.

I will be utilising these tools in the future. This exercise has really helped me. I have lots of elements to consider in my poster, and I want to properly represent the character and their narrative. This has given me a lot of ideas on how I want to pose and layout the final poster.

I need an outlet to put myself out into the world. I've been locked inside my own mind for so long. Living unrealistic, unhealthy nightmare... Oh, I mean life. I've been destroyed and broken so many times by so many people. I've laid dormant in my den of safety, a space in which I can control. That control came at a cost, though. The cost of my mind. My sanity slowly slipped away year after year, day after day. I was broken to the point I was bleeding out in the dirt with no sign of the light. No one by my side. Empty and alone with only my death wishes comforting me to sleep. Death wishes so sweet they bring a tear to your eye. You're only human.

We can't help it. Escaping this cruel life. A constant for my entire life. Until the last year and a half. My world flipped upside down and spun around until I lost my bearings and self-control. So much, so fast all at once. A love interest opens me to a new world that can I benefit and learn from. A new world with so much undiscovered trauma laying in wait. I didn't understand just how deadly it was. Enduring that has been my eye opener to the fact that if you listen and pay attention, life speaks to you in lessons. Beautiful and strong messages that can cut to the core of your very being. I learned my lesson. Not listening to the messages life was giving me. Making me relive my own personal hell.

That Hell would never stop! Years and years of pain and torture because I didn't understand that life was teaching me. Teaching me to care for myself. Teaching me to love my past and learn from it. Teaching me that sometimes those demons are needed in life, that the goal is always kindness. It was all laid out in front of me, but I couldn't overcome my fears. I couldn't find the strength to pick myself up. My fatal flaw. Learned that one as well this year. I would rather save someone else because I viewed myself as unworthy to save.

Unworthy to save, huh? My decisions in my past made me believe that. I ran from my shadow, and I let it win without even knowing it. Years of blaming myself and others for where I was at. All it took to change my life was information, though. Knowledge. Learning and applying. Makes it easier day by day. I wish I knew that when I was younger. If I had the hunger I had now, back when I was younger, I would have gone so far in life.

You can't blame your past life? No. I can blame the people who made my life Hell on purpose, though. I never blame those people. I never try to blame anyone. I need to, though. People need to be held accountable, right? Manipulation and control at its finest! Hahaha. Evil people do evil things. Yet they still cry out to live in the light. Little bit Yan and Yang for you. The Yin and Yang. It's such a beautiful ideology. It helped me understand people a little bit better. Gave me grounding, balance between my light and dark. See when people look at the Yin and Yang as two different beings supported by each other. Both are different on the outside, yet the result is the same inside of those beings. Well, when you look at it like that, that seems correct, right? It's the way we look at them as two separate beings. It's one being. A being with conflict inside of them. Always a right and wrong. Evil, death fighting against love and life. At least, that's the way I understand it.

Life is unpredictable, no one knows what is going to happen in the next minute. In other words, life is full of possibilities, as long as you can overcome your fear and be willing to explore, you will have a brand new recognition and find a brand new world. Therefore, we need to value our life and most important, be brave in our life.

Time is limited, we need to be brave in our life. The only thing we can say for sure that it will grow all the time is our age. If we don’t seize time, time will abandon us.  An article attached with a serious of photos called “Stop therapy and accompany me to travel around the world -- the most positive choice made by a 90 year-old granny who is diagnosed with Cancer” arouses a heat discussion on both the internet and the wechat. Some people praise the courage of the old granny and say we should take the obstacles in life for granted and face them bravely. However, most of the young generations give comments like “Why should we wait until such a situation to take action to fulfill our dream and do what we really would like to do?” “Life is short and we should live for ourselves.” “I will not wait until that old to travel around the world.” From all those comments, we can see although the optimism of the granny is well worth learning, it also pathetic that she waits in her whole life to fulfill this dream until the moment that she was diagnosed with cancer. Life is not replicable and chances in our life are unique. Once you miss them, you miss them forever. Let’s take the hottest topic, house buying, as an example, As everyone knows, due to the rigid demand of the people in big cities of China, the price of buying a house is soaring. Compared with the price ten years ago at around CNY 5000 per square-meter, the price now reaches over 20000 or even 30000 in some area in Guangzhou, which is 4 to 5 times of the price then. Ten years ago, people hesitated to buy a house, for it would become a large burden to the family and could not see the value in it. But now, people scramble to place an order, even though they need to apply for a mortgage and live in debt. Someone will say,” How gorgeous it would be if I had made up my mind to buy a house ten years ago!” However, chances will not come again. There’s another example, in recent years, New Zealand and Australia offer the Working Holiday Visa for Chinese citizens between age 18 to 30. Many teenagers could take this opportunity to experience a one year’s foreign life. Whereas, many friends around me desire to get this chance but do not dare to take the step. They have got so many worries, like “do I really quit my current job and spent a whole year on an unpredictable journey?” “What can I get from this year’s experience and what should I do when I am back?” “Do I need to start over again?” and so on. He was born with absence of four limbs, but a small foot with 2 toes. When he went to school, he was mocked and bullied. He tried to commit suicide, but failed. At the age of nineteen, he started to sell his speech to different schools. After 52 times rejection, he finally got a chance to hold a speech with 50 dollars salary. And from then on, he started his career as a speaker. In 2010, his self-biography Life Without Limits: Inspiration for a Ridiculously Good Life was republished, which spread his story and influences thousands of people. As what he wrote in his self-biography,” No matter what our challenges might be, never think there’s something we can’t achieve, or there’s a limitation and impossibility ”(Life Without Limits: Inspiration for a Ridiculously Good Life 2012). Being brave is a spirit, a belief and energy inside our body. Don’t be afraid of any challenge in your life. Don’t set a ceiling for yourself. Life is full of possibilities. Be brave and be the master of your fate.

All in all, a large part of our achievements come from our bravery. Being brave is the core motivity in our unpredictable life for which can help us to make good use of the limited time to grasp every opportunity and face challenges with courage and power. - Make a gratitude journal: I've realized that journaling is a great tool to find answers within us and a great motivation after a while of writting. Also is always helpful to find the little things that makes our lives so much easier and we don't give so much attention and take a time to thank them. Gratitude journaling is great to feel lucky with the life you live and the little things that compose it.

Alivebur Has A Crush Analysis

Alivebur is a character who has been through the highs and lows of life. We have seen him lead, we have seen him fall, and we have seen him come back and try his best. What we have not previously seen, however, is Alivebur in love. In the last few streams from his POV, his interactions with Quackity have stepped into the realm of possibility that to Alivebur, this is more than a simple rivalry. Therefore, this analysis will explore Alivebur's possible crush on Quackity by going through the streams to show development, and looking in depth at expressions.

The Book

When Alivebur takes the Project Nevadas book from the chest, he regards it and Quackity's name softly, sounding emotional, almost like he's on the verge of tears - especially as he says 'my kinsman':

“Quackity… My, my old rival! My… my kinsman. We’ve been through a lot, we went through a lot together. And I- And I-” - (Wilbur’s resurrected gentleman of L'manburg: 1:02:11, 5th May)

It's a very emotional line, and truly the first time during the 5th May stream that Alivebur seems genuinely comfortable, suggesting that this is the first time he realises that Quackity is the only one (from his perspective) who isn't afraid of who he was before he died.

Furthermore, it suggests this is where he first gets the hope that Quackity sees him as human.

He even reads the book with a gentle tone, suggesting that he thinks Quackity wrote it with a softness.

In the 31st May stream, Alivebur still has the book on him, and keeps the contents to himself, at first, stopping midsentence as he begins to read it to Tommy.

“Let me read you the book, let me read you the book. ‘My dearest friend, Wilbur’. Uh. And then there’s just some other stuff.” – (Wilbur’s A Deck of Cards with a Green Smile on them: 14:53, 31st May)

Due to him having no idea he was going to be up against Quackity yet, it is likely he kept it to himself because it was too personal to share - only later showing it to Tommy as a plea to why he shouldn't join Quackity.

In between reading the first part and uttering 'uh', Alivebur opens his mouth to say more, but no words come out. As if he couldn't physically read it.

Then he goes on to 'read' Tommy the book, except he makes up the contents. What is interesting here, is how he seems to slip:

“It says: ‘My dearest friend, Wilbur. I’ve really missed seeing you. Come to Project Nevadas. Your best friend, Quackity.’ He’s not my best friend, Tommy, don’t worry, that would be you.” – (Wilbur’s A Deck of Cards with a Green Smile on them: 16:28, 31st May)

Tommy has pushed him for what's inside the book, so Alivebur 'gives in' and starts to read it, coming up with what he's saying on the fly. The slip? 'Your best friend', we know in the 25th July stream that one of Alivebur's goals seems to be Quackity being his friend, making this line all the more obvious that this is something Alivebur wants, to be Quackity's friend, and to be on his side.

When he gets rejected from Las Nevadas, he opens up the book like he's trying to make sense of it:

Because Alivebur took it as a call, took it as an invitation to join Quackity and be on his side - something that Alivebur seems to want. Perhaps because it would be a place to belong, a side to stand with, someone to stand alongside who isn't afraid of him.

Hence why he was petty and challenged Quackity, because he was rejected by the only person who Alivebur thinks regards him as a human.

Alivebur keeps the book on him in the following stream, Healthy Competition. Where, in the middle of talking to Phil, while looking in his inventory, he gets distracted by the book, losing track of what he was saying as he looks at it:

This suggests that Alivebur is keeping the book on him because it's precious, and because he's yearning. It isn't something he's keeping safe in an Ender chest like he used to do with history books, but rather something he's keeping on him, almost like he's keeping it close to his heart.

It's personal, enough to distract him in the middle of a conversation in a way we haven't seen from Alivebur before.

When he's making plans, he doesn't get distracted easily, usually sticking to the point, but here, he trails off in the middle of a sentence, pulls the book into his hand, struggles to open it, and looks for just a second before putting it away.

It's definitely not something that Alivebur would do at all, and is certainly new. Which, in turn, heavily suggests a crush because it is something we've never seen before.

Later in the stream, as Alivebur tosses the named steaks over to Ranboo, Alivebur pulls the book into his hand again. His expression drops almost, he stops in a sense, eyes dipping down. There's a sadness this time:

Like a sad longing. Perhaps the book is a reminder too, of what he truly wants, to be alongside Quackity, to be his dearest friend like it says.

While Alivebur doesn't look at the book in the 3rd and 4th Aug streams, he does still have it on him, showing that he does indeed keep it on him at all times. Evidently, the book is very important to him.

Therefore, due to all this, it can be heavily suggested from the book alone that Alivebur has a crush. Keeping it on him at all times, regarding it softly, being unable to share the contents at first, looking at it with a longing or a sad yeaning, all show that the book is precious to him in a way that proves feelings.

The Crush Question

When Alivebur talks about how Quackity challenged him, calling the look in his eyes cool - before then admitting that he almost called it hot, Tommy proceeds to ask if Alivebur has a crush, to which Alivebur says:

“I have a complicated relationship with Big Q, but I don’t think it’s at that level yet.” – (Wilbur’s A Deck of Cards with a Green Smile on them: 44:55, 31st May)

There is a lot to this line, for example, 'complicated relationship' suggests, within this context, that he's referring to their very colourful past, where they were political rivals, allies, perhaps friends, and also almost lovers.

Considering that Alivebur says he doesn't think it's at the level of a crush yet does indeed suggest that he is aware of his attraction and/or feelings for Quackity.

We know from Niki's birthday party that Alivebur had feelings for Quackity then:

“Sometimes, uh, you know, my, my, my feelings towards some people... in this room get the better of me.” - (Karl's Dream SMP with Niki: 1:46:37, 2nd Nov)

During that pause, that ellipsis, Alivebur looks straight at Quackity before continuing. It is clear that at this point he did have feelings, hence why he kissed Quackity, and why later in that stream he sang songs of love and hate to him. Complicated relationship indeed.

So, 'complicated relationship' possibly does refer to all their past, to everything they've been, or almost been. That paired with him thinking his feelings aren't at the level of a crush yet - at this point - does heavily suggest that this is something that is progressing.

Either he will later realise his feelings have gotten to the level of a crush, or that it's been a crush for a while, but the important part here, is the use of 'yet', he's expecting it.

In turn, Alivebur's answer to Tommy's question does suggest the existence of feelings already, as well as Alivebur acknowledging it can become a crush.

Crush Behaviour

In recent streams it has become increasingly evident that Alivebur is behaving like he has a crush already. Even in the first stream where this becomes evident - the 31st May one - he displays signs of a crush.

To begin, one of the most evident signs of a crush from the 31st May stream are the longing sighs:

It's the way he sighs with his whole chest. The way he's trying to speak but sighs instead, as if that's all he can say, as if it conveys everything he feels.

The lines the sighs coincide with are interesting to note too:

“He’s, he’s um, he’s, I guess my, my yang. He’s the yang.” – (Wilbur’s A Deck of Cards with a Green Smile on them: 47:56, 31st May)

The first sigh takes place between 'he's um' and 'he's', and only then gets out what he wants to say, that Quackity's his yang. Which, from that, it can be suggested that the sigh comes from thinking about Quackity as his light, his other half, as something he can't exist without, something like a soulmate. Because that's what 'his yang' suggests on its own, but paired with the sigh, it shows how he's thinking about it, and from the tone, he's also longing for it.

And then there's the line for the second sigh:

“Because when you’ve got people like Quackity over there, who are just- You know, he said it best, I’m not gonna talk shit about him behind his back.” – (Wilbur’s A Deck of Cards with a Green Smile on them: 1:10:00, 31st May)

Here the sigh takes place when Alivebur cuts himself off after the 'just'. It's more of a breathed sigh, and it has a 'aw' sound to it. There is a feeling of more attraction here than longing. He's thinking about Quackity again and then sighs like this, almost in a happy way. It's almost got an amazed feel to it, as if that's how he feels when thinking of Quackity here.

Then he goes on to say he's not gonna talk shit about him behind his back, which also indicates a crush type behaviour, because while he's setting himself up to be Quackity's rival, he stops himself from doing what most would when they're against someone.

The sighs aren't the only part of the 31st May stream that have a crush behaviour feeling to them. This is also clear when Tommy asks if Alivebur and Quackity were kissing.

He nervously laughs after Tommy asks, and stares at Quackity, with his hand over his mouth. The nervous laugh suggests that Alivebur does feel something towards this question, something positive but guarded, hence his hand over his mouth, and why he stares at Quackity.

And then he deflects. He doesn't answer Tommy's question, he just changes the subject. It's clear from this that he's hiding his true feelings here.

“No, I don’t think I wanna kiss him. It’s um…” – (Wilbur’s A Deck of Cards with a Green Smile on them: 50:29, 31st May)

This is backed up by him saying he doesn't think he wants to kiss Quackity. He clearly has some complicated feelings about it, hence the use of 'think' instead of just leaving it as no.

Evidentially, there is some guarded part of Alivebur that isn't sure what to feel about kissing Quackity, but judging by the use of 'think', and nervously laughing while staring at Quackity after being asked if they were kissing, it seems like he's thought about it.

The next blatant crush behaviour happens in the 25th July stream as Alivebur is talking about how he met up with Quackity:

The body language here, the way he seems to fiddle with his arms, it's a very nervous thing to do, and since he's talking to Phil here, it suggests he's nervously talking about his crush to his dad.

The full line shows this even more:

“Yeah! I met up with him, and I hadn’t seen him in ages. It was, I’m gonna say it, it was nice. It was a nice time. I- I- It felt good, it felt, uh, you know, he didn’t, he didn’t seem afraid of me, which is cool.” - (Wilbur’s Healthy Competition: 7:38, 25th July)

He begins with that he hadn't seen him in ages, which is especially interesting because this is true of everyone, it's been 13 years for Alivebur, but the way he says it here makes it sound so casual, like it had just been a little while. Perhaps it suggests how human and alive he feels around Quackity.

He goes on to say it was nice, that it felt good, and how it's cool Quackity didn't seem afraid of him. Which suggests even more so of just how human and alive Quackity makes him feel, that he simply had a nice time. Especially with him saying it felt good, which shows how this isn't just an intense rivalry for Alivebur, it's something that makes him feel more positive emotions.

The most damning evidence for Alivebur's crush behaviour, however, comes from when he's waiting for Quackity on the 4th Aug stream.

“Wait here, look, I promise you, just you wait. Just you wait. Ready? Ready? Are you ready? Are- Are you- Are you ready? Um… Uh…” - (Wilbur’s Unhealthy Competition: 11:06, 4th Aug)

He expects Quackity to be there as soon as he is, but when he's not there, Alivebur begins to get nervous, um-ing and uh-ing. After two minutes of waiting around, Alivebur then proceeds to proclaim that he thinks he understands Quackity, and how his brain works, only for him to prove he doesn't give a shit:

“This guy. Ranboo, I swear to god, like I, I feel like I understand him, I feel like I know how his brain works, you know, how his- how the- how the cogs in his mind go. And then he just, and then he just goes and proves that he doesn’t give a shit.” - (Wilbur’s Unhealthy Competition: 12:56, 4th Aug)

The reason this is evident crush behaviour is because Alivebur starts getting self-conscious about how Quackity feels about him after waiting two minutes. He assumes that as soon as he arrives on the border, Quackity will be there instantly.

It's very reminiscent of real life, where some people may get self-conscious if their crush doesn't text them back immediately. Except with Alivebur, instead of a text, he turns up on Las Nevadas's doorstep and expects Quackity to drop anything he's doing to tell him to fuck off.

However, the most blatant part of this piece of evidence is when Quackity asks if they've been waiting long, to which Alivebur replies with:

“Uh, I’ve just arrived, you know, I just arri- I, I haven’t been long for you. I, I wouldn’t- Quackity, you think, you think I’d wait for you?” - (Wilbur’s Unhealthy Competition: 14:35, 4th Aug)

He pretends he's just arrived, trying to act suave, that he wouldn't wait for Quackity, just like how Quackity didn't instantly greet him the minute he turned up. He's brushing it off here, but even he himself knows that he isn't acting as smooth as he would like:

He glances away as he drinks from the bottle, then closes his eyes, scrunching up his face. It's an embarrassed 'oh god did I really just say that?' type expression. It's the type of expression you would expect to see from someone who feels like they've just embarrassed themself in front of their crush.

That's what is evident here when everything from this scene is put together, that Alivebur is acting like he has a crush.

Finally, the last bit of evidence we have right now that indicates Alivebur is expressing crush behaviour is when he says he feels alive after interacting with Quackity:

“I feel alive, Ranboo, I feel alive. Someone’s looking at me and talking to me! I’m alive, I’m alive! This is great.” - (Wilbur’s Unhealthy Competition: 27:22, 4th Aug)

You may notice here that the 'someone's looking at me' is similar to what cc!Wilbur said from Alivebur's perspective in the recent reddit comment about him (here), that 'no-one even looked at him' before he died. Alivebur is excited, even seeming to be happy, that someone is actually paying attention to him, looking at him, even if it's in a rivalry sense.

And it's only Quackity that makes him feel this way, despite Ranboo being there, talking to him. It suggests that what Alivebur is feeling with Quackity is unique, and makes him feel more than the friendship he has with Ranboo.

Most of all, the excited and stressed 'I feel alive' and 'I'm alive!' not only suggests that just talking to Quackity makes him feel alive, but that it could be making his heart beat faster every time he sees him and interacts with him.

This is implied through the line because to feel alive in this excited sense induces a reaction, and that probable reaction of feeling alive - being excited, suggests his heart is beating faster. This links back to Alivebur having a crush because when a person is around someone they have feelings for, their heart beats faster.

Lastly, in the latter half of the quote, when he says 'I'm alive!', he looks towards Las Nevadas, and sighs in what sounds like a happy tone. This shows that it is indeed Quackity that is making him feel this way.

All in all, everything from the sighs to the way Quackity makes him feel alive, does indeed suggest that Alivebur is displaying crush behaviour towards Quackity, and therefore, indicates that he has a crush.

Homoerotic Tension

Another factor that ties into the evidence that Alivebur has a crush, is the homoerotic tension he has towards and with Quackity.

The most obvious occurrence of this is when Alivebur bites his lip at the idea that Quackity won't like the burger van:

“So he didn’t like it? He didn’t like you setting up the cookie stand? … Okay. Okay. No, no, no, that’s good.” - (Wilbur’s Healthy Competition: 21:33, 25th July)

As soon as Ranboo says Quackity didn't like it, Alivebur smiles, licks his lips, and then bites his lip.

In this context, there's no anxiousness here, so the only reason he could be biting his lip is because of his attraction to Quackity. A lip bite in this sense means that Alivebur is restraining himself, as well as experiencing desire.

It's a very clear attraction to Quackity, which further shows that he is attracted to him in all senses. This is also a foundation for where his feelings are coming from, and because we know Alivebur's type (he likes a challenge and thought the look in Quackity's eyes was hot when he challenged him), it becomes evident that the lip bite is a reaction to the idea of Quackity being angry at him.

And in the 4th Aug stream, this is explicitly said:

“When you smashed the window and blew up the wall? I’d be pissed, and I bet he is, dude.” - (Wilbur’s Unhealthy Competition: 7:20, 4th Aug)

Therefore, due to Alivebur expecting Quackity to be pissed, and him saying it's exactly what he wants after interacting with him, it's clear that him smiling and biting his lip after hearing that Quackity didn't like the cookie stand, comes from wanting Quackity to be angry with him, and so, links into his type, proving his attraction to him.

This links back to his possible crush because a lip bite like this definitely isn't an expression someone would make about a friend or just a rival. Which means it's explicitly attraction to Quackity, and further suggests that him having a crush on him is very possible.

Another notable moment that shows tension in this sense is when Alivebur says Quackity is a hard man to refuse.

“But I get it, I get it, you know, Quackity… He’s a, he’s a hard man to refuse.” - (Wilbur’s Unhealthy Competition: 24:09, 4th Aug)

The reason this suggests homoerotic tension and attraction is because of what 'he's a hard man to refuse' suggests. It's as if Alivebur is saying to Quackity that he can't say no to him, which shows how he is drawn to him. It also suggests that if Quackity were to ask something of Alivebur, he would do it, as he can't refuse him easily/can't say no.

The most interesting part about this is how Alivebur has never been manipulated or persuaded by Quackity, and therefore, in Alivebur's case, this sentiment is coming from their history, and possibly refers to the rivalry they have always had. Alivebur didn't refuse Quackity from running against him during the election era, and he eagerly gunned for a rivalry once he was rejected from Las Nevadas.

All of this indicates that Alivebur saying Quackity is a hard man to refuse has romantic connotations to it and suggests attraction to him.

Overall, the homoerotic tension, and Alivebur's attraction shows how it's very likely a crush has built off this foundation, and suggests why Alivebur is so drawn to Quackity.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Alivebur has a crush due to the way he talks about and interacts with Quackity. It is clear in the way he holds the book close and regards it softly and with a longing, and how he doesn't think his feelings are at the level of a crush yet, as if he fully expects it to happen. Additionally, his yearning sighs, the way he nervously laughs as Tommy asks if they kissed, his body language when he talks to Phil about him, and how he attempts to act smooth in front of Quackity only to be embarrassed by what he said, all suggest he's behaving like he has a crush. Furthermore, biting his lip when thinking of Quackity and saying he's a hard man to refuse show his attraction, and therefore, his likely crush. All benders will be empowered by the avatar spirit from now on. The eternal conflict between Raava and Vaatu has finally come to a permanent end.

Zuko: I don’t even know what to say.

Katara: You were incredible!

Ty Lee: And the way you turned all gigantic like that, wow! Yes, you did it, just when we were losing, a miracle happened!

Sokka: Are the elemental spirits ok? Appa? Yue? My dad?

Aang: Yes. All souls that were absorbed, including Yue, Appa, and your dad, are now free and are going in peace.

Sokka: Good. Thanks.

Suki holds onto Sokka’s arm and rests her head on his shoulder. Cut to Aang and Azula at the northern portal.

Azula: Now that you’ve reconnected with Raava, have you also regained your past lives?

Aang: No. I guess that link is gone forever. I am now the first Avatar in a new line of Avatars.

Azula: Ya don’t say. Let’s just close the portals and call it a day.

Aang: (Reaches for the portal but stops and hesitates) Maybe I shouldn’t.

Azula: What makes you say that?

Aang: I think with the spirit portals opened, it’ll restore the ancient balance between our world and that of the spirits and it’ll help eliminate the illusion of separation. Appa’s physical body may be dead but I can still sense his spirit. Iroh’s spirit is here too. What do you think?

Azula: You’re the avatar, this is your type of gig, whatever your decision is, I’ll support you.

Aang looks at the portal and smiles. Cut to the rest of the gang gathering together in front of the third middle portal. They all collapse in exhaustion. Zuko and Katara held on to each other, Sokka and Suki did the same thing as well as Aang and Azula.

Zuko: I can’t believe a year ago me and my sister’s purposes in life were competing against each other and hunting you down. And now…

Aang: And now we’re all getting along.

Zuko: Yeah…we are.

Aang: I can’t believe a year ago I was still frozen in a block of ice. The world’s so different now.

Zuko: Yeah…

Katara: The fight is finally over. But how long will this peace last? So much chaos and death have happened. I can’t help but feel like we’re the only ones left.

Azula: (To Aang) Hippie, what do you think? Are we the last ones alive?

Aang entered the avatar state and put his hand on the ground. After a few moments, he went back out of the avatar state.

Aang: No. Less than 50% of all living creatures in the physical world are still alive but all humans are headless. All of their homes and establishments have been destroyed. No nations to govern them. No rulers to lead them.

Azula: That’s where we come in. We’re the only ones left alive who know the goals of the white lotus, so it’s up to us to complete them. Even though we should learn from those who came before us, we must also forge our own path. So that is why we should tell everyone that we are bringing back the era of energybending and give everyone a choice to bend more than one element like Aang. The portals will remain open, which means Aang will no longer be the bridge and he'll continue to be the avatar only because of his avatar spirit. This may blur up the avatar cycle a bit but the avatar being able to reincarnate at all is good enough of a cycle for me. Humans, spirits, benders, non-benders, nations, and elements will all learn to live together as one, with us leading them. In other words, things will never be the same again, we are entering a new age and we definitely have our work cut out for us but with Aang’s new-found powers, our jobs should be much easier.

Everyone nods and stands back up. They all look at the third portal. Pan to the sky, which is filled with spirits. All are literally dancing in the sky.
