Gerudo weaving update‼️

I have been away from this craft for FAR TOO LONG. Mistakes upon mistakes!! But that’s okay(ish) because I jumped into this project prepared for that.

So! From the top, I need to use a different heddle and much thinner thread if I’m going to have any chance at getting the boarder details in there. (This is a somewhat pricy endeavor unfortunately.)

Also! I need practice practice practice! How wonderful that my loom is all warped up with a nice long space for that, eh?

Here’s my first practice slot! Just a plain weave (what the rigid heddle loom does best!) with simple color changes!

[A small rectangle of plain weave. Mostly off-white, with a top and bottom section of yellow, orange, yellow. Two vertical rows of orange just inside a white boarder- all of these little projects will have that since the weft cannot be altered. Bars of thick black yarn frame the weave on the top and bottom, these allow me to calibrate the tension and leave space for tying off each project.]

I don’t know if it’s really visible but the top section of color changes is MUCH better than the first, my goodness, how sloppy 🤭 Once a project is off the loom, washed and ironed, it generally fills in and helps with some of those issues, but I’ll likely have to do some post work on this first one to help it look nice.
