Song of the Day: February 13
“Coast of Marseilles” by Jimmy Buffett
#song of the day#could've been 'On the Radio' by Regina Spektor which was playing in my head when I woke up this morning#(without the music backing I always end up singing it with a back-and-forthing rhythm like 'Chained to the Couch'. another stirring song)#could have been 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' by Jimmy Buffett#Nick asked me about the lyrics while I was thinking about something else and for a moment I forgot any words to any song ever#had to focus all my concentration down to the finest point and pull 'tried to amend my carnivorous habits' out of the depths of creation#could have been 'Cheatin Songs' by Midland which is just /such/ a fun song. classic country music meta-references and a wonderful accent#but any time that Coast of Marseilles plays it is automatically the song of the day#of all the songs I croon to myself it's probably the prettiest. also one of the most likely for my brothers to join in on#at the very least quite likely for Duncan to pick up the whistling at the end. tbh the only song that makes me wish /I/ could whistle#'would you be remembering me / I ask that question time and again#the answer came and haunted me so / I would not want to think it again / no I would not want to think it again#you make it so hard to forget / I haven't stopped lovin you yet'

This is how it works
You're young until you're not
You love until you don't
You try until you can't
You laugh until you cry
You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath
No, this is how it works
You peer inside yourself
You take the things you like
And try to love the things you took
And then you take that love you made
And stick it into some
Someone else's heart
Pumping someone else's blood
And walking arm in arm
You hope it don't get harmed
But even if it does
You'll just do it all again

argh I knew the issue with these would be picking just one song for each. so ok I just went with some instinctive answers and didn't think too deeply about them.

Mini fic. Buggy takes care of you while you deal with an old injury. Whiny girlfriend. This is a one shot, not connected to any other story. PG13ish to be safe. Title comes from "On The Radio" by Regina Spektor.
but even if it does you'll just do it all again
"Do not come near me with that stuff." You hissed as you stretched your leg out in front of you, digging your fingers into your thigh muscle as you tried to get it to loosen up. You injured your leg years ago as a result of a fall, and while it didn't bother you as much now, the occasional flare up was awful.
"You know it's going to help." Buggy said as he pulled his gloves off using his teeth while shifting the jar from one hand to the other. "Let me-"
"I don't like it!" You whined, whether from the pain or the fact you hated the potent and greasy ointment, Buggy wasn't sure, but he would hold you down to use it if he had to.
"Come on, sugar." Buggy never forced you to do something you didn't want to do, but he knew the ointment helped. Once he applied it and started massaging it, you would melt into the bed and feel the pain ebb away. You both just had to deal with the overwhelming smell of peppermint.
"I don't want it, Buggy." You said with a pout. "It's stinky and greasy. It's going to get all over the bed."
"I'll change the bedding tomorrow." Was his response as he unscrewed the lid. The smell hit the both of you almost immediately and Buggy held the jar away, making a disgusted face while you glared at him. "This shit is powerful."
"Don't touch me." You warned him as he dipped two fingers into the cream, scooping some out. He said nothing as he came around the bed to where you were trying to stretch. You were glaring at him as he plopped it onto your leg.
"There." He said as he wiped his fingers on your leg. "Now rub it in."
You sighed and looked up at him. "Can you do it for me?"
He put the lid back on the jar before sitting on the edge of the bed beside you, handing you the jar. Without a word he started to spread it along the inflamed area, gently digging his fingers into the muscle to get it to the sore spots. And he was right, the second he started, you sighed, closing your eyes as you relaxed into the bed.
"How's it feeling?" He asked as he worked. You just mumbled something in response. Buggy smirked a bit and shook his head. "Glad to know it's helping, sugar."
