Will Byers (stranger things) - i LOVE will SO MUCH!!!! i love him soo so much he is my sweet can of peach preserves i want to swing him around like a ferret literally obsessed with him rn. everything about him makes me want to scream and cry and throw up every day im so thankful will exists nobody gets him like me. honorable mentions el who is practically one unit with will so i can legally put her on the same bullet point, and also all the other st characters who im also obsessed with who are not getting their own bulletpoints but i still want to acknowledge them bc i love them.... soo much.......

MAGNUS BANE (shadowhunters tv) - *long drawn out scream* tbh hes probably the first character i was like, really and truly obsessed with, like honestly magnus bane kicked off an Era for me regarding my derangement and how i participate in fandom. magnus bane was the catalyst of a whole gender awakening for me. magnus bane is my everything. i love him and his husband. yeag

Phoenix Wright (ace attorney) - OBSESSED WITH HIS PATHETIC BISEXUAL SWAG no further commentary needed. honorable ace attorney mentions go to maya fey and klavier even tho i have not gotten to him in game yet. i know imgonna love him when i do go back to playing aa4 so he counts

Ben Hargreeves (umbrella academy) - wait ok sorry to double dip again but i cant believe i forgot how obsessed with ben i was?? i spent literally 3 years blogging about him and drawing almost exclusively him?? i even created a crackship with him to torment my best friends with??? ben i am so sorry. how could i have forgotten. i love ghosts who are younger brothers who are big bitches

Involuntary psych hold because River knows the Doctor wouldn't stay, would spend a day or two to try and convince that he's fine, but... he needs to run. He needs to be in as many places as he can, and staying there would be so boring--

So she does what she has to do. Even if she hates it. Even if he hates it. Even if she couldn't stomach it happening to her. Because she will get him out, when he's ready. Of course she will. He won't leave him there for them to decide.

She can't trust them to know. She can barely trust them enough to leave him there. But she doesn't feel like she has any other choice.

I also headcanon Koschei killed himself at some point in the academy. In the au where this happens, its after he tries and fails to seek help. But in au's where he doesn't...

I like to think Koschei and Theta were roommates at the academy, evidence or not. So one day, Koschei goes missing, skips school without Theta. Strange, but it happens. Maybe Theta's jealous. The Doctor has quite the jealous streak.

But when Koschei comes back...

He's changed, physically, and to some extent mentally, but he still has that same look in his eye. The same sort of crazed stare he's had since the day Theta met him.

Because the drums didn't leave. Nothing changed. He blew a regeneration and no one will help him.

(And Ten says the drums are all in his head, that they know they are. Which means he knew. Which means Koschei told him. Which means he didn't believe him, and he didn't help, and he didn't care to look, because Ten heard them. When they touched minds.)

(Maybe Koschei didn't want him in his head. Maybe he put up walls. But that isn't what it feels like to him. It feels like he was left behind.)

(And then he was.)

Otherwise there's: Eleven goes through a mental health crisis that results in River putting him in Space Therapy.

(The location had once treated another Time Lord, a long time ago. Very few places could claim that without also being... well, prison planets.)

(The Time Lord was Koschei. It didn't work out.)

The day before..

Michael had been attending Hawthorne for barely over a month when he was once again summoned by the Warlock Council.

Baldwin, Behold, John Henry, and Grand Chancellor Ariel Augustus himself sat waiting at their respective seats along the long wooden table that divided the room in half. Countless rows of novels and grimoires lined the shelves behind them, opposite a warm crackling fireplace that lit up the windowless room.

The halls were dead silent, aside from the click of Michael’s heels on the marble tile as he entered through the corridor and approached the four master warlocks. He came to a stop just before the table and gave a slight nod, folding his hands behind his back. “Gentlemen.” His tone sounded bored as he greeted them. He was expecting them to administer another pre-test for the seven wonders. Michael, find the book. Michael, make it snow. Michael, Michael, Michael. As much as he loved feeling superior over them and being praised for his power, he hated being treated like a trophy boy.

“Michael! So good of you to join us,” Ariel spoke with his usual upbeat enthusiasm. He stood up from the table and walked around to Michael, putting his hand on his shoulder and giving his collar a firm squeeze. His face beaming with pride like it always did when he looked at his Boy Wonder.

“What is it today, Ariel? You want me to make your dick bigger or something? Make it rain wine?” Michael was clearly not in the mood today. The other warlocks were shocked by his blatant sarcasm but Ariel was unfazed. He even chuckled.

“Michael, as you know, we have been at war with the witches for some time. It has been a long, dark era for us, living under the shadow of those bitch Supremes for centuries, waiting for the Alpha to rise. That is, until you came along Michael, and you gave us back our hope, our pride, and our glory.”

Michael was losing his patience and his interest. Did Ariel always need to make a speech? I mean does he write this shit down beforehand?

Ariel continued, “But if we really want to take down those witches, we’re going to need all the help we can get.” Ariel motioned with his hand and John Henry opened his laptop, turning it around for Michael to see. A video of a boy in a small office room started to play. He was being evaluated by a psychologist. They asked him all kinds of questions about the monsters in his books, each time waiting for an answer he wasn’t going to give. Then they would pause to scribble something down on a little notepad before asking him the next redundant question.

After a while of getting no response, the doctor started to get impatient and agitated. “They aren’t real, Richard. We’ve been through this. They can’t harm you, just like they didn’t cut your friend, Jonah. He did that to himself, remember?,” the male voice spoke from behind the camera.

The boy on the screen said nothing but his expression said everything. His brows furrowed together, jaw clenched, peering through his eyes with such intensity, such hate that what happened next couldn’t possibly have been just a coincidence.

The man behind the camera suddenly went quiet except for a faint, choking sound. His voice straining as he gasped for his few last breaths. Richard didn’t move a muscle. His hands still folded in his lap, body slouched back in his chair. But his eyes stayed focused on what was happening behind the camera. Even when the first nurse entered the room, shrieking in horror at the sight of the doctor sat up in his chair with his eyes swelling up, blood dripping from his eyes, ears, nose and mouth. He had been choked so tightly it left lacerations on his neck.. and Richard still didn’t move.

A couple other nurses stumbled in after hearing the scream, and rushed to try to help the dead man. Followed by two large men who grabbed Richard by each arm, pulling him aggressively out of the room. And the video on the screen went black.

Michael looked around the room at all the men’s faces. John Henry looked sympathetic. Behold looked alarmed yet hesitant. Baldwin looked like he was seeing dollar signs. And the look on Ariel’s face was the same look he’d given Michael the day he freed him from the jail cell. The kind of look a mad scientist has when seeing his creation come to life for the first time.

“Michael,” Ariel spoke, “this boy has a gift. He sees things, creatures that most others only dream of in their worst nightmares. I believe he has a gift much like Miss Cordelia’s infamous Sight. And I believe, if used correctly, he could be instrumental in bringing down their coven once and for all. Cordelia thinks she is seeing visions of a demon looming over her academy, well with this boy’s help, we’re going to give her just that..” Ariel’s sinister smile was spreading and he chuckled darkly. The other warlocks shared in the celebration, quickly masking their concern with cheer. After seeing the power in Michael, they were nervous to see what dark gifts Richard may possess. But as Grand Chancellor, Ariel of course had the final say.

Ariel then gave Michael precise instructions on how to get to the clinic, how to find the boy, and how to bring him back to Hawthorne safely without word ever reaching the coven back in New Orleans. And then wasting no time at all, he sent Michael on his quest to the Goldcoast Psychiatry Clinic to rescue the young warlock.

pre-Eddie Begins thoughts

NOTE: I wrote most of this up last year at the beginning of the hiatus, so keep that in mind please, I just never finished it. But I want to have it posted before it all gets jossed by tonight’s episode, so here you go

So I had some thoughts about the upcoming Eddie Begins episode and how it can theoretically lead to buddie but are abso-fucking-lutely not going to happen let me live. I just want them out there in case they inspire someone else to write fic (y/y?)

Some background facts I/we know:

•Christopher is at least 8, possibly 9 y/o, by the end of 2019 •CP is usually diagnosed by the time a kid is 2 y/o* •Eddie said he found out about Christopher’s CP diagnosis near the end of his first tour overseas and that’s when he signed up for a second one •Don’t Ask Don’t Tell was repealed in 2010 •I don’t know shit about the military

Therefore, it’s very possible that Eddie grew up pretty closeted considering his background, and when he decided to join the military/entered the Academy, DADT was probably still in effect. So this could be an excellent way for the show to introduce us to the idea that Eddie’s not as straight as we thought. Eddie’s very big on duty and that sort of thing, so I doubt he’d actually cheat on Shannon while overseas. Though I could see him maybe almost kissing a guy (and then of course they agree never to speak of it again because DADT) or some kind of parallel to that really intense kitchen scene he had with Buck (“I’d take you” jfc nobody fucking talk to me) and then feeling SUPER guilty about it.

OMG WAIT what if he has some serious UST with a guy in his unit that ends up dying in that same mission Eddie ends up getting a silver star for?? and this guy is like the one that got away or something** and Buck reminds Eddie of him??? no I need a moment.

tl;dr- Eddie could very well be closeted based on his upbringing and being a part of the military during the DADT era

*based on the preview clip just released, Christopher was probably much younger when he was diagnosed, but the point still stands **I DID NOT KNOW 3x16 was going to be called that when I wrote this, so mark that one as jossed

sidenote: we better get some Shannon scenes. I liked the actress edit: yay we are!

Day 1: Words Of Validation - Fic Readers, take some time to leave new comments / Fic Writers, share some of the comments that stuck with you the most.

First and foremost, every single comment that has ever been left behind on any one of my fics means a great deal to me, and I can’t even describe how happy they all make me! Seriously, you all make my day! This was so lovely, sweet, funny and i can't really cope right now :D Your characterisation was spot on and this au in general was so good! And the thought of Kirishima and Bakugou sharing their assigned reading is doing funny things to my heart!

This is so so so so cute!! I just love the progression of their relationship from emailed library notifications to post its to face to face talking and texts.... it's just so so adorable. Plus the idea itself is genius! And I've never seen a college AY that talks about library stuff like this and it's just a really cool concept and a really good idea...!Also, all the tiny details you wove into this really made it as good as it was: the inclusion of so many characters, Tsuyu's livestreams, Endeavor and Monoma's humiliation, the humour, the tododeku making out between the shelves and literally not giving a single fuck.... everything was funny and cute and the ENDING!! The ending was super well executed and wonderful and cute and I absolutely loved it. All of it. And magic!! Oh my gosh I love the incorporation of magic in this era and the fighting--the fighting. It's amazing. Intense. I love it.

Thank you as well for the superb attention to detail. I can tell a lot of research went into representing the era accurately and it makes your world all the more vivid and fascinating! (the sweets, i am remembering the sweets hahahaha)

I already love this and I can't wait to read more! I love how much research and knowledge you put into this au because it just shows how much you care about writing and the characters. A truly incredible first chapter with all the romance, humour and action any good story has. I loved it!

Did I mention that Wedlock is the most research-intensive fic that I’ve ever done? I swear I did the same amount of research (and still am doing research) for this story, as I did for my thesis, and to know that it wasn’t for nothing, and that people appreciated it, made me weep with joy.

So this is fantastic. Like, excellent start. Established Tododeku? Awesome magical period romance? Actual Magic Frog Tsuyu? Appearances from numerous lovable minor characters? You are on a roll, my good sir. So I've noticed this trend in most fantasy and royalty AUs that feature Tododeku, and that is the trend of Commoner/Servant!Izuku being shipped with Royalty!Shouto. In light of that, can i just say that it is SO refreshing to see a story where they don't have to get around a weird societal imbalance of power in order to properly fall in love? It's beautiful and wonderfully uncomplicated, while still having the court politics that make stories like these so delightfully intriguing.But yeah, you've started really strong and I went back through your stuff to realize that I also read and loved your college AU, so needless to say, I'm super excited for this fic! Izuku and Shouto's dynamic is so wonderful in this, and I can't wait to see where it goes!

My Neighbour Totoro? I think you mean My Neighbour Todoroki (I'll walk myself out). Hums loudly at the mention of glinting eyes watching Midoriya enter Yuuei Academy. Who could that have been? All Might isn't really size appropriate to be slinking around there after all. And just what is Todoroki up to? Midoriya has a lot of interesting questions, thats for sure. I hope he gets the answers to all of them, because they're making me wonder too. Having the Todoroki's as the fire department will certainly link Shouto to finding the necessary evidence Midoriya's searching for in regards to the old Yuuei fires where All might was spotted, and I bet Endeavour has a huge role to play in that too. I wouldn't be surprised if the fire was instigated in an attempt to successfully lure All might out, although I may be stretching the theory bar a little on that one. I just hope Endeavour hasn't forced Todoroki the impossible task for trying to track All Might down once and for all. But, he seems genuinely scared of Midoriya's "haunted" place, or maybe he's just scared of Midoriya? What's going on Todoroki, communicate with us here. I hope Midoriya doesn't get lost trying to track shouto home. Good luck boys! Until next time!

'Somewhere in the distance, there's the sharp trill of birdsong, followed closely by the frantic flapping of wings, the sounds a concert accompanied by the occasional whisper of a breeze rattling the leaves and branches of the forest, and his own discrete pants for air.' Okay just gotta say that line is absolutely gorgeous and I can picture it perfectly in my head. There are so many descriptions throughout this chapter that are just SO PRETTY!!! FIRST CONTACT WITH THE CRYPTID AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!! This was adorable?!?! All Might is a sweetheart through and through! And Izuku fanboying? Oh my dear boy. (Izuku concerned for Shouto? oh my aching heart. BUT IZUKU THINKING ABOUT HOW PRETTY SHOUTO IS IS THE BEST THING EVER OKAY) Inko! Please take care;;;;;; don't worry your mother too much Izuku!Now, onto Aizawa. He cares a lot about his students, yeah........ but is that all? Hmmm? Do you know more than you let on, Aizawa? *eyes emoji* Could there be more teachers behind the scenes, helping All Might out? The plot thickens.

That would require finding said clearing, Shouto, and all things considered that sounds like quite the challenge. People often don’t remember directions well when rushing around.I wonder why Shouto wants to meet All Might so badly. Is his home life anywhere near as bad as it is in canon? Perhaps hopes All Might will help rescue his mom from wherever Enji stashed her.

AND TOTORO MAKES HIS APPEARANCE - i mean All Might. He's like the local friendly bigfoot. Bless him and his accident-selfie. Midoriya had such a rough tumble - it sounded both super painful and really dangerous - I'm glad he got saved in time. Todoroki ironically lead Midoriya to the clearing by running away from him to begin with - I see you trying to benefit yourself and your goals in this invitation. I worry Midoriya won't be able to find the clearing since he woke up there and was carried away from there - without a definitive route. Todoroki might not be as patient when he realises Midoriya can't find it for him. Aizawa's behaviour concerns me. Is he in contact/affiliation with All might? I feel like he knows. Until next time!

I honestly did not expect to get this initial comment, much less speculation about PotW, so I was absolutely floored, when the speculation began to come in with later chapters, and I must say that it gave me so so much motivation to keep on writing!

Man so much of this is so Ghibli; Izuku leaning out of the window, the tiny house on the edge of a giant forest, Shouto appearing in the dusk to give an ominous message, only to retreat to his mansion home across the moor (okay the moor is Gothic lit but STILL WHAT A MOOD). He has the biggest combo of San & Haku going on and I dig it so hard.

You write EXACTLY as a Ghibli movie is animated and just Wow It’s gorgeous

This is absolutely gorgeous. You capture the atmosphere so well. I’ve always wanted a regular high school au for these kids and while it isn’t the main focus, I really enjoy that aspect of the story. The plot so far is amazing, just the right combination of Ghibli and BNHA that it creates a new story entirely its own. I love every moment of this and am excited to see how Todoroki and Midoriya’s relationship evolves.

Studio Ghibli is one of the biggest influences in my life in terms of media, and I desperately wanted to do justice to it through PotW, so these comments literally made me cry from happiness.

Here’s day six of my week-long blog anniversary celebration (which…um I finally thought to double-check the date and…the anniversary is actually today so oops - but I’m still going to post the last prompt tomorrow, don’t worry, sorry I’m such a mess)!

Here’s some Academy Era bickering, feels, and…baking? Enjoy!

“Alright, what is it?”

Jemma glanced up from the neurobiology textbook she’d beenleafing through, meeting Fitz’s knowing gaze. “What’s what?” she askedinnocently.

Fitz rolled his eyes, not believing her terrible attempt atplaying dumb for an instant. “C’mon Simmons, you’ve been on the same page forthe last fifteen minutes – you could’ve had the whole bloody thing read in thattime. Not to mention you’re fidgeting.”

“I am notfidgeting,” Jemma argued defensively, but the protest was a bit much because sheactually had been tapping her feetand drumming her fingers off and on for the past few minutes.

“Simmons.”

Heaving a sigh, Jemma closed the textbook, placing it on thecoffee table in front of the couch in Fitz’s living room. “Oh alright, I’vejust been thinking…”

“About?” Fitz set aside the magazine he’d bought earlierthat day specifically for the article it contained on Tony Stark’s latestinvention, giving her his full attention.

Jemma released a quiet breath, nervously wringing her handsin her lap as she tried to find the right words. However, what came out was ablurted, “I want you to teach me how to bake.”

Fitz’s eyebrows darted up his forehead, then furrowed inconfusion. “What?” he asked blankly. Clearly, whatever he’d been expecting, ithadn’t been that.

“I was going to ask your mum,” Jemma admitted, the wordscoming out in a rush now that she’d started, “but she’s so busy with worklately, and she’s always talking about the days you two used to spend in thekitchen together and she’s taught you everything you know about it, so…”

“Yeah, okay, but…” Fitz made a face, shaking his headabsently. “Why?”

Jemma sighed, her shoulders sagging slightly as sheexplained, “Well, you know how I’m not…fond of…lacking in certain areas –”

“You hate not being perfect at everything, you mean? Yeah, Iknow a thing or two ‘bout that,” Fitz surmised, smiling knowingly at her scowl.“Well, do you deny it?”

She let out an insulted huff, crossing her arms over herchest…but a moment later, she answered grudgingly, “…No.”

Fitz smirked triumphantly. “So…what? You hate the fact thatyou can’t bake cookies? I mean, you had two PhDs by the time you were sixteen –I don’t think anyone’s gonna look down on you because you don’t fit someridiculous stereotype. And if they do? Screw ‘em.”

“It’s not because of stereotypes, Fitz.” Jemma sighed,gazing at him imploringly. “I can’t really explain it. But…will you just helpme? Please?”

Fitz studied her for a brief moment, likely attempting todiscern the true reason she wanted to learn how to bake. But, it wasn’t longbefore he answered, “Yeah, alright. But only ‘cause you said ‘please’.” He gotup from the couch, nodding for her to follow him as he headed through thedoorway into the cozy little kitchen his mum loved so fiercely. “And, uh…justpromise me if you blow the place up or something, you’ll take the blame? Ithink my mum would murder me if she thought it was my fault.”

“So you’d rather she murder me?” Jemma asked in mock-insult,leaning up against the counter next to Fitz as he gathered the necessarysupplies.

He scoffed loudly, peering around the cupboard door to giveher a disbelieving look. “Oh, come on.My mum loves you – she wouldn’t harma hair on your head! In her eyes, Jemma Simmons can do no wrong.”

Smirking, Jemma shrugged innocently. “Well, I can’t help itif your mum loves me, Fitz. Perhaps I’m just a loveable person, have you everconsidered that?”

“Yeah, maybe, to people who haven’t studied for final exams with you. They don’t know thePerfect Score Monster living inside of you, not like I do.”

Jemma rolled her eyes, groaning in annoyance. “Ugh Fitz, you’re so dramatic. So what if westayed up late a couple of nights? You aced all of your exams, did you not?”

“Stayed up late a couple of…” Fitz put down the glass bowlhe’d retrieved, turning to face her completely, his mouth agape. “Simmons, you kept me awake for forty-eight hours, shouting questionsfrom your flash cards and throwing things at me until I got the right answer!”

“But you aced all ofyour exams,” Jemma repeated, emphasizing the words. When Fitz continued tostare at her in disbelief, she rolled her eyes and asked pointedly, “Are yougoing to teach me something about baking, or are you going to continue to gapeat me like a dead fish?”

“That’s the monster talking,” Fitz muttered under hisbreath, but did turn to finish gathering what they’d need. When all of thesupplies and ingredients had been laid out on the counter, he turned back toJemma and said, “Okay, so the first step is easy: just pre-heat the oven.”After she had proudly done so, he went on, “Next, you’re going to melt thebutter.”

“That’s easy,” she commented happily, picking up the stickof butter, removing the wrapping, and dropping the butter into the glass bowl,which promptly went into the microwave. And when the timer went off, sheremoved the bowl and held it out proudly.

“It’s not melted enough,” Fitz observed, shaking his head.

Jemma gaped down at the melting butter in the bowl. “Whatare you talking about? It’s perfect!”

“I think I’ll bethe judge of that.” He took the bowl from her and replaced it in the microwave,setting it for a bit longer and completely ignoring Jemma’s disgruntled look. When it came out this time, Fitz noddedapprovingly. “Okay, now you’ll mix it with the sugar.”

Jemma eyed the small group of ingredients gathered togetheron the counter, taking a deep breath and nodding. This was just like chemistry,and she excelled at chemistry – howmuch harder could using food instead of chemicals be? “Alright, so I mix thebutter and the sugar. Easy enough, I suppose.”

Taking the wooden spoon Fitz handed her, Jemma stirred togetherthe butter and sugar as he monitored. “Okay, now it’s time to add the flour,baking powder, salt, and vanilla,” he instructed after a few minutes.

Overwhelmed, Jemma glanced back to the remaining ingredientson the counter, then to the mixture of butter and sugar in the bowl.

“It’s easy,” Fitz encouraged, handing her a measuring cup.“It’s just like measuring out chemicals, okay? And you’re great at that.”

Except, Jemma apparently wasn’t great at it when it came to baking ingredients, given that when shedumped the flour unceremoniously into the bowl, a cloud of it went up and hadthem both coughing and sputtering, now partially covered in the fine whitedust.

“Be a bit morecareful with your pouring,” Fitz advised, automatically shying away from thefierce glare Jemma shot at him. “I’m just saying.”

“Thank you, Fitz,”she ground out, carefully pouring therest of the ingredients into the bowl. With that finished, she picked the spoonback up to mix all of it together now.

“Simmons! Be careful! You’re going to…” Fitz trailed off,heaving a sigh and planting his hands on his hips as he stared down at theflour and baking powder that had been forced out of the bowl and onto thecounter. “…make a mess,” he finished after a beat. “Well…at least it wasn’t methis time.”

“It still could be,”Jemma pointed out, and he held his hands up in surrender, staying mercifullysilent as she finished mixing it up.

“You’re going to add the egg next.” Jemma obliginglyretrieved the single egg from the counter. “Use the side of the bowl to crack it,”he suggested, and she took the advice, knocking the egg against the edge of thebowl and promptly breaking it apart in her hand. “No no no! Simmons, stop!” Fitzfrantically pulled the bowl away from her, immediately beginning to carefullypick out the tiny pieces of eggshell that had landed in the dough with the yolk.“Christ, just drop the whole egg inwhy don’t you!”

“Well how was I supposed to know that it would break apartlike that?!” Jemma demanded, planting her hands on her hips.

“They’re eggs,Simmons! I didn’t think I had to tell you they were fragile.” Sighing, heglanced from the meager amount of shell pieces he held in one of his palms,then grimaced at the dough. “Well…I guess a little bit of eggshell never hurtanybody. Okay, stir that up, then we’ll add the chocolate chips.”

Taking the bowl back from Fitz and grimacing down at it,Jemma mixed in the egg yolk (and the remaining pieces of shell, of course),then picked up the opened bag of chocolate chips Fitz had been sneaking everyso often (she’d been pretending not to notice).

And without preamble, she began pouring the contents of thebag into the bowl.

“Wait! That’s too much!” Jemma lowered the now empty bag, wincingat the pile of chocolate chips now lying on top of the dough.

“Sorry,” she apologized, sighing softly. How had shepossibly managed to screw up almost each and every step? It was baking cookies!

“Y’know what? Don’t apologize.” Fitz nudged her shoulderlightly with his. “A little extra chocolate’s never killed anyone, yeah?”

“Well, actually, depending on the circumstance I can imagine–”

“Simmons.”

Shrugging at Fitz’s clearly exasperated tone, Jemma told himplainly, “You did ask me a question – I was just trying to answer it.”

He groaned, dropping his head back and rolling his eyestoward the ceiling. “Just stir in the chocolate chips, alright?”

Jemma did as instructed, and once the chocolate chips hadbeen worked in as well as she could manage, Fitz made room on the counter for abaking tray, talking her through separating the dough into little round balls.

“Make sure you keep them small, okay?”

“Okay.”

“No no, that’s too small.”

“Alright.”

“That one’s too big.”

“But it’s bigger than the last one!”

“Yeah, but now it’s toobig. They need to be somewhere in the middle.”

“Fine.”

“And…try to smooth them out a bit more, okay? They’re a bit…lumpy.”

Releasing an exasperated sigh, Jemma replaced the chunk ofcookie dough she’d been holding back in the bowl and whirled around to facehim. “Fitz, do you really have tomicromanage the way I’m rolling cookiedough?”

Fitz let out a startled laugh, his eyebrows shooting nearlyup to his hairline. “Do I have to…? You’re kiddingme, right? Simmons, you’re practically the queenof micromanaging! You’re always complaining about my part of our projects,trying to tell me how to do my job,not to mention telling me what to eat, when to sleep, how much to study!”

“Oh, you should be thankingme for that. The amount of unhealthy habits you have is ridiculous, Fitz. At this rate, you’ll be dead before you turnfifty!”

“Yeah well at least I wouldn’t have you constantly naggingme anymore,” Fitz muttered. When Jemma threw a dark glare in his direction, henodded toward the still nearly empty cookie tray. “Just…go back to making yourcookies.”

Letting his snide comment go, Jemma focused back on rollingthe cookie dough into balls that weren’t toobig and weren’t too small. When the bowl was empty and the tray was covered withthe uneven, chocolate-chip-infested cookies, she finally placed them in theoven and turned to Fitz. “I guess we’ll know in twenty minutes if I’ve failedhorribly or not.”

“I bet they’ll be fantastic,” Fitz told her optimistically,but Jemma wasn’t so sure.

However, as the twenty minutes passed, she began to growmore and more hopeful that, despite all of the mistakes she’d made, the endresult was going to be much better.And by the time the oven timer was going off, she was nearly bursting withexcitement once more, winning out over her upset at her disastrous firstattempt at baking.

“How do they look?” she asked Fitz, bouncing anxiously onher toes.

“Well…” Fitz cleared his throat, and Jemma felt her heartsinking once more.

“Oh.” Shoulders sagging, she dropped her gaze to the floorand blinked rapidly to stop herself from tearing up. It was just a silly batchof cookies, nothing to really beupset over, but…

“Hey, wait, no. Simmons, don’t cry, okay?” Fitz opened theoven, putting on an oven mitt and removing the tray to place on top of thestove. “So they’re a little…oddly-shaped, but I’m sure they taste great.”

Jemma sniffled, rolling her eyes and hugging her arms aroundherself. “Fitz, you don’t have to say that, alright?”

“I’m not! Really, I can’t wait to try one.” The amount of excitement over the disgustingcookies he managed to infuse in his voice brought a grateful little smile toher lips.

“Fitz…”

“I mean it!”

And sure enough, about fifteen minutes later, when thecookies had cooled down, Fitz actually picked one up and took a bite out of it. The big grin he was wearing for her benefitfaltered just slightly, but ultimately remained plastered on his face as hechewed and swallowed, giving her a thumb’s up.

“They’re awful, aren’t they?” Jemma asked knowingly, smilingsadly.

Fitz let out a little cough, then cleared his throat acouple of times, made a face, and admitted, “Yeah, wretched, actually. Mighthave to have my stomach pumped.”

“Fitz!” Jemmaslapped his shoulder, very much not amused with his ill-humored teasing.

“Sorry, sorry!” He tossed the rest of the cookie in the bin,giving Jemma a supportive smile. “Hey, so you can’t bake perfect cookies onyour first try – you can’t be born great at everything, it’s just not fair tothe rest of us.” When she smiled slightly, he elbowed her lightly in the ribs.“Hey, all you need is some practice, okay? I’m sure if you work at it enough,you’ll be a genius in the kitchen just like you are in the lab.”

“Thanks Fitz,” she murmured, sighing softly.

When Fitz woke up a few mornings later, he knew his motherwould’ve already left for work and he’d be alone in the house for the day, buthe was sure Jemma would be up for chatting on the phone, which brightened hisday considerably. After all, neither of them had much else going on in theirlives at the moment.

However, when he descended the rickety old stairs andentered the kitchen to make some simple toast for breakfast, he was startled tofind Jemma herself sitting at his kitchen table.

“Simmons?”

She looked up at his surprised call of her name, beaming,though it seemed to be tinged in nerves. “Hello Fitz! Your mum let me in, Ihope that’s alright.”

“Yeah, um…” He threw a quick glance at a nearby calendar,but the days of Jemma’s planned visits were circled in red – and today wasn’tone of them. “We didn’t make plans that I somehow forgot, did we?”

Jemma laughed, shaking her head reassuringly as she stoodfrom her seat. “No no, don’t worry.” She didn’t move from her position in frontof the table, and her strange behavior was beginning to freak Fitz out a bit.

“So…? I mean, not that I’m not happy to see you, but…what’sgoing on, Simmons?”

She blew out a nervous breath, nodding to herself. “Okay,um…” Turning around, she picked something up off the table from behind her, andwhen she turned back around, Fitz realized it was a cake (a lopsided cake, but a cake all the same). “Happy Birthday,Fitz.”

Fitz knew he’d been staring blankly for too long now, but ithad finally hit him why Jemma had been so desperate to learn how to bake, andhe was absolutely floored that she’dgone to all this trouble just to make him a birthdaycake.

Shifting a bit anxiously at his lack of response, shehurriedly explained, “I knew your mum was going to be working, so you’d be allalone and she wouldn’t have time to make you a cake and I know you likehomemade ones more than store-bought, so…” She chewed her bottom lip briefly,then went on, “I hope it’s alright.”

Swallowing thickly, Fitz finally found words to tell herhoarsely, “It’s perfect. Thank you, Simmons.”

Her beaming smile was back, seeming to brighten up the wholekitchen. “Oh you’re welcome, Fitz.”She held the cake out to him, asking excitedly, “Would you like to have a slice?I haven’t tried it, but I’ve worked on perfecting my baking abilities eversince my unfortunate attempt with the cookies.”

Fighting back the warmth bubbling up in his chest and makingit difficult to breathe, Fitz blurted out the first thing he could think of totry and get himself back on even footing. “You sure it’s edible? If I take abite of that cake and die, I’m gonna haunt you for the rest of your life,Simmons.”

“Of course it’sedible! Ugh Fitz, would you quitbeing so dramatic? I’m never doing anything nice for you ever again!”

Chuckling at the indignant look on his best friend’s face,Fitz gently took the cake from Jemma and set it back on the table. “Come on,Simmons, I’ll get plates and forks and if your poison cake is gonna kill us,then we’ll both die and haunt Professor Vaughn together.”

It was clear she was trying to fight it, but Fitz could seea tiny smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth. “Oh hush, Fitz.”

After he’d retrieved the plates and silverware, he pulled upthe chair beside Jemma, watching as she carefully cut into the poor lopsidedcake, and he felt that swell of warmth rising once more in his chest.“Simmons?”

“Yeah?”

He paused long enough that Jemma glanced up curiously, andhe took a deep breath before repeating sincerely, “Thank you.”

Jemma smiled widely, handing him his plate of cake andsurprising him completely by ducking closer to press a quick kiss to his cheek.“You’re welcome, Fitz.”

She said it was cool-beans if I threw some title recommendations her way, but then I started writing and I figured “Eff it. I’ll just make this a Tumblr post.”

So for her (and yalls) benefit, HERE ARE DRAMAS WORTHY OF MY FANGIRL STAMP OF APPROVAL!

Coffee Prince: Tom Boyish heroine works incognito as a dude and her boss falls for her and accepts his love for a dude, even as she is most assuredly NOT a dude.

Healer: ONE OF THE MOST CRACKTASTIC DRAMAS Super duper beta hero is a thief for hire and the heroine is a journalist on the hunt for him; He Clark/Supermans it while working with her as a reporter.

Cheer Up (AKA Sassy Go Go): Tough, outcast dancer chick gets forced into a cheerleading team & much feels ensue.

Weightlifting Fairy: A beta-tastic hero swimmer falls for a plucky, misfit, confident weightlifting heroine AND OMG SO MUCH EFFING ROMTASTIC CUTENESS.

In Time With You: A Taiwanese friends-to-lovers romance with the OTP having been life long friends, each in love with the other, but each afraid to screw up their friendship if they feel-spill.

Splash Splash Love: A 2 episode short drama about a high school girl who time travels into ancient Korea and has to survive incognito as a dude palace guard while falling for the King.

Dr. Champ: An alpha heroine doctor hires onto a sports organization where she falls for Mr. Broodastic Doctor, but REALLY it’s the beta sweetie athlete she’s destined for.

Ho Goo’s Love (AKA Fool’s Love): Friends-to-lovers where the heroine gets pregnant by Not The Hero while a sweet, unassuming almost innocent hero just wants to help and be there for her.

Protect The Boss: Heroine is tasked with getting her slacker boss to grow up AND SHE KICKS ASS AT DOING JUST THAT.

Queen In Hyun’s Man: Hero from ancient Korea time travels into modern day Korea and falls for a tough alpha actress who’s starring as the Queen from his era in an historical drama. Again, he’s beta on beta on BETA.

Scent of a Woman: Frumpy, woe-begone office worker heroine starts living for herself when diagnosed with cancer, and her boss sits up and starts noticing her. (Open ending, TONS of actor chemistry)

Sungkyunkwan Scandal: Historical drama where heroine goes incognito as a dude to study at an All Male academy, and has 3 dudes who fall for her one way, or the other.

Me Too Flower: Rich beta hero CEO falls for poor, unassuming alpha police office heroine and oooooh dat class divide tho.

Marriage Not Dating: Hero gets our heroine to be his a fake fiance to get his parents to shut up but neither can stand each other...OR CAN THEY?!

What’s Up Fox: Older heroine helped raise younger beta hero but he’s been in love with her for forever, while she never noticed. BUT HE COMES BACK AND FEELS START POPPIN’

My Lovely Sam Soon: Chunky heroine is hired as a chef by her hot boss who has NOOO interest in her...until he gets to know her and realizes HOLY SHIT HE GOT FEELS.

I will say that I have both Viki and DF subscriptions but many in the fandom find Viki to have superior, and more nuanced, subtitles than Drama Fever.

All these are ONLY dramas that are next-level shit-your-fangirl-pants good...at least by my standards.

Sorry for throwing so damn many titles your way, but I DID restrain myself I swear, LOL.
