one of the joys of having a mother who is a bit older and..sillier. than average is the memory of my brother trying to explain the concept of a snapchat streak to her. only she could not wrap her brain around the fact that it had nothing to do with streaking as in running around naked. and she just wouldnt drop how horrified she was that her kids would do such a thing. no matter how hard my brother tried to get her to understand she would just say “well……i cant believe you’re doing that😔..…”

nini is happily pursuing music in la with her moms' full support

ricky is dating gina, a girl he calls "home". he's finally becoming more at peace with love and how to show it. he's learned how to not run from his problems. his parents are getting back together (???) and his drama teacher wrote such a good letter of recommendation that he was accepted into a community college

gina becomes a literal movie star and was able to change the filming location of her second movie, without any consequences, to salt lake so she can physically be with ricky, the boy she finally got to date after crushing on him since the day they met. she has a permanent home to call her own now. her mom finally showed up to an opening night and she was finally able to portray gabriella

and then ej...is alone (in a wildcat sense) at college, financially cut off from his family, working multiple jobs to afford it. he spends most of his season 4 screentime guiding and helping others (ricky, gina, miss jenn, madlyn) instead of an actual storyline and a lot of his lines were about how he's made mistakes and has to live with them

btw i am in an insanely good mood today bc i finallyyyyyy heard back about a job in a museum in town and it’s not certain yet i still have to pass the interview but omg this is the first thing i’ve heard from any of the museums i applied to like at all it’s such a relief to know someone actually read my application 😭

okay y'all, i've never actually done something like this but i decided on a whim the other day to start a sewing project, and i'm gonna do my best to document it here just for my own enjoyment lol!

the goal is basically to take this jacket (pictured below) that I bought on amazon for a kotlc halloween costume a few years ago and spruce it up a bit

the current plans are to:

reinforce the bottom edge of the skirt part so it has a little more structure

replace the buttons with ones that a) look nicer and b) are more durable (right now they're plastic and also have this crown/crest design that almost feels like it belongs on a flag or something??? idk I just don't like them very much and wanna have different ones)

maybe do some embroidery on the bottom edge of the skirt (and potentially other areas as well)??? i haven't fully decided yet but leaning towards yes if I can manage to teach myself embroidery before my interest in this project disappears lol

(i might also do something with the zipper pull, i can't really decide if i fully like it as is but that's a thing for future me to worry about haha)

but yeah i think the vision is mostly just fun jacket with vaguely steampunk-space-pirate vibes (à la the mechs lol) so we'll see what happens!

update: a lot of stuff got in the way. umineko writeup is like a third done. pickle route chapter is one section away from completion. both of these entered the backburner because i have four weeks to get 20000 words of my phd novel done for assessment and i'm barely at the 8k mark
