Malleus having older sibling trauma. Malleus resenting how Lilia is able to openly express being Silver's parent but had to keep Malleus at arms length because of their roles. Malleus having to know someone who was presumably initially very cold and softened only as he was growing older while Silver had a very openly loving father immediately. Malleus being the child who taught Lilia how to parent and love. Malleus never feeling like Lilia truly loved him after seeing how he was able to love Silver. Malleus loving Silver because they're brothers and at the same time resenting him for having the father he always wanted.

Thinking about DP x DC Jason Todd being a revenant again. Here's my scenario. Jason gets called that by some ghost. He's like "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" He's heard the term before but he doesn't know any actual lore. He googles it. He scrolls past the Leonardo DiCaprio bear movie. He opens the wiki. Sees the words "animated corpse" and gets a chill diwn his spine. He starts reading the first section.

He closes Wikipedia.

That night he has a nightmare that his family buried him, again, this time with precautions. He wakes up in his own grave, full of stones, too heavy to move, to scream.

I can’t believe I never considered how being in love with a mortal feels to Solas. The terror of “you’re dying a little every day. If I stop and I do what you ask, I’ll still lose you. Which leads me to think this: Solas was going to do everything in his power to protect Lavellan once the Veil fell. Whatever chaos ensued, her life was immediately prioritized. His mission is complete. Now he can choose what he truly wants.

She won’t love him. But it’s less about being loved and more about loving her. The willingness to be hated to the bone by someone that he loves so much. Which then leads me to think that Solas had accepted she might even come to the place of killing him. Which, I hear people saying he’d have killed her because he killed Varric, but y’all.

Varric wasn’t HER. He’s surprised and ruefully glad to see Varric. He sees Lavellan and Solas can’t breathe.

Porter is giving him death glares in the staff room. Tiberia doesn’t even acknowledge him whenever he’s in her line of sight. Lucilla, who is usually so kind, gives him side eyes in the hall, cuz bard classes are so gay and he’s homophobic. Jace avoids talking to him at all costs despite technically being the only person Bobby can go to for questions about the job. Henry seems more timid but even he is clearly upset at at this man’s general existence. And those are the ones who aren’t even openly hostile.

Zara only does night classes but whenever she does sees him she hisses. No one’s ever seen Terpsichore angry, but they have now. He made some of the younger queer students cry and Jawbone yells at him in full view of the student body. Corsica is so so close to beating this man up. They all miss Yolanda

the thing is that if comments/kudos/engagement are "payment" for authors' "free" work, aka if fandom is transactional, then readers are in fact "paying" for something. and if readers are "paying" for something then fic is a product, and if you are "paying" for a "product" you are in fact - generally speaking - entitled to make some basic demands regarding said "product." what that looks like is gonna be different from reader to reader but we have spent years upon years arguing, rightly so, that people are not entitled to updates, or completed fics, or to offer unsolicited criticism, or fics going the way they want them to, or that authors shouldn't have the right to delete their stuff, etc etc. etc. and that entire argument crumbles the moment you turn this into a transaction and it's just no wonder (if no less goddamn obnoxious) that readers' entitlement is skyrocketing when they are treated like fucking customers. like. turning this into an us vs them seller vs customer thing is, aside from entirely ignorant of the fact that writers most often are readers themselves, the most horrific thing happening to fandom. stop turning this into a fucking free market under the guise of community. i swear to fucking god

tonights addition to my boy dads bucktommy rambles - let’s talk grandpa bobby

bobby retires around the same time that buck and tommy adopt henry, so when it’s time for them to both go back to work bobby is more than happy to take care of him.

athena comes home one day after work to the sight of bobby in their kitchen with henry strapped to his chest and he is humming softly as he sleeps. honey you realise he’s not your baby, right? yes he is athena.

buck calls him one night at 2am when henry is about eight months old bc something is wrong bobby. tommy is in the middle of a 24 hour shift and buck is terrified. bobby races over there and walks in to the sound of both henry and buck crying. buck looks dead on his feet and henry’s face is bright red from all the crying. bobby takes the baby from buck and demands that he goes lay down because buck being emotional is not helping. an hour later both buck and henry are sleeping and bobby takes up camp on the couch just in case they still need him.

henry of course has his own bedroom at bobby and athena’s which over the years becomes filled with so many toys and books bc every time bobby leaves the house he has to buy henry something.

when henry is four and in preschool, every wednesday bobby will pick him up early and take him to the local park to feed the ducks. he packs them both lunch and they will sit there for hours while henry tells bobby everything that comes to his mind.

henry is about two years old when he first calls bobby “grampy bobby”. the 118 fam were all at buck and tommys house having a late summer bbq. it was late in the evening and henry was getting sleepy. he goes over to where athena, bobby, hen and karen were sat and talking. he climbs up into bobby’s lap and settles himself against his chest. he whispers i love you grampy bobby before he falls asleep and bobby swears he felt his heart grow 10 times larger.
