tell me why i didn't realize that kate martin was 6'1 !!! whoa .. but okay, here is a small blurb 4 you <3 lmk if yall want smut but idk kate is such a fluffy girl i can't... see her like that
⠀ ── ⠀warnings ;; literally nothing but pure fluff, incredibly short though :( send more reqs for katie plssss
"my god, you are just adorable." kate spoke up as she looked down at you, a look of pure adoration in her eyes. you looked up at the blonde, an unappreciative expression on your face – you immediately knew the next words would come out of her mouth.
"you're so short–"
"kate!" you sighed dramatically as she put her hands up in defensive. you guys were doing simple grocery shopping and she still couldn't help herself from commenting on your height.
kate chuckled, reaching over to ruffle your hair affectionately. "sorry, sorry! but you have to admit, it’s cute how you have to stand on your tiptoes to reach things."
you rolled your eyes, grabbing a box of cereal from a lower shelf. "not all of us are giants, kate."
"hey, i'm not a giant! you're the one who's abnormally short," she teased, leaning down to plant a quick kiss on your forehead.
the fact was – you really weren't insanely short, it's just that kate was insanely tall. as you made your way down the aisle, kate continued to find ways to poke fun at your height, but you couldn't deny the warmth in her eyes every time she looked at you. however despite the teasing, it was clear that her affection for you was genuine.
reaching the produce section, you struggled to grab a bunch of bananas from a high shelf. kate stepped in effortlessly, handing them to you with a smirk. "see? handy having me around, isn’t it?"
you couldn’t help but smile back, shaking your head. "i guess it has its perks."
kate wrapped an arm around your shoulders, pulling you close as you continued shopping. her teasing was a constant reminder of how much she adored you, and you knew that, despite the playful jabs, she wouldn’t have you any other way.
if you enjoyed, any interaction is greatly appreciated!
with love, rylin 𝜗𝜚

Let The Light In: Part 3
Part 1 Part 2
Words: 4k
Pairing: Paige Bueckers/Media Manager! Reader
Warnings: Angst, Friends to enemies (but the reader doesn’t know why they’re enemies), reader is actually so incredibly in the wrong, mention of an injury, the girls are fighting
It's her—actually her—, standing right in front of you, and for a brief moment you almost wonder if your mind had conjured up a hallucination to retaliate against the sheer force of your yearning.
You've spent more time than you’ll ever admit imagining this moment, playing it out in various scenarios in your mind, but the reality has a sharpness that no rehearsal could have prepared you for. Her presence is a tangible, overwhelming, a reminder of what you had, of what you had lost.
“Hey, you good?” She repeats, her voice cutting through your racing thoughts, pulling you back down to earth.
Blinking away the tears that are, embarrassingly, still brimming in your eyes, you take a deep breath before allowing yourself to reply. "Yeah, I'm good," the words feel hollow, a betrayal of the whirlwind of the emotion inside you.
Paige doesn't respond; instead, she stands in front of you, rocking back and forth on her heels. Her hands nervously fidget as an all too familiar silence envelops the two of you. Wordlessly still, she reaches for the chair in front of you and pulls it out, the both of you wincing at the loud screech it makes as it drags across the wooden floor.
You don’t bother to hide the shock on your face as the blonde sits down across from you, her knees briefly brushing against yours before she swiftly tucks her legs to the side, avoiding your touch.
"You look like you've seen a ghost," her tone unusually light—almost friendly, which would be confusing if you had the ability to take note of it. The only thing you can focus on is the familiar cadence of her voice, bringing back a flood of memories, each one sharp, sweet, and painful.
“I feel like I have.”
____
“I hope we’re still doing this when we’re 80.” You say, grabbing another spoonful of her strawberry ice cream and plopping the pink desert into your bowl of cherry, mixing the two together before putting the spoon back into your mouth, letting out a satisfied hum when you confirm you’ve finally gotten the perfect mix. Paige chooses to ignore how much you’ve taken out of her bowl, knowing that when you get full in a few minutes the remainder of yours will be scraped back into hers.
“Doing what?”
"Ice cream Thursdays, dummy," you clarify, abandoning your spoon just in time to catch a melting drop threatening to fall from her chin onto her shirt with the pad of your thumb before pressing the finger against your lips to lick it clean.
She watches you, gaze shifting to the table when your eyes dart up to look at her again. “When we’re 80 you’ll probably be taking pictures of your husband and grandkids playing in your garden or something all cutesy and shit, you won’t be thinking about me.”
You lightly kick her shin under the table, ignoring the confusing pang in your chest when you hear her dismissal, “Oh come on, we’ll still be best friends when we’re 80, if anything I’ll be taking pictures of the grandkids playing basketball and you’ll be trying to keep up with them in your walker.”
This gets a chuckle out of her, “hopefully by then I’ll know better than to do anything but coach.”
You smile, pushing the now half empty dessert towards her for her to finish before leaning towards her, “okay then, I’ll be taking pictures of the grandkids with coach P.”
She digs into the remainder of your cherry strawberry mixture, bringing the spoon to her mouth before shaking her head and adding another spoonful of strawberry, “fine, but if we’re 80 and you still haven’t figured out how to get the right cherry to strawberry ratio I’m canceling ice cream Thursday’s.”
____
Her smile fades a bit, replaced by a more cautious expression as she changes the subject, the friendly façade faltering a bit as she speaks. “You know, you’re still sharing your location with me.”
"What?”
“I wanted to find you and I realized you still share your location with me.”
"You wanted to find me?” you echo. The part of you that's been hoping for this moment at war with the part that's been dreading it.
"Yeah, I needed to see you.” You hear her sigh, debating whether to continue, “thought we could talk."
The sincerity in her tone is disarming, and despite the hurt, a part of you wants to lean into the familiarity of her presence, to the shared history you’re still desperately clinging too.
"Talk?"
She nods, swallowing hard. “About the pictures you took the other day…” She begins, her voice trailing off briefly as she looks away from you, her hands fidgeting slightly, “Charlie sent me copies of them.”
“Oh, she’s not supposed to do that, you guys only get the final edits,” the words slipping out before you can think better of it.
"I know, but I asked her too.”
Your breath catches in your throat.
Paige continues, “-I wanted to see the ones Leo told you to stop taking.”
You sit there in stunned silence. And, after a moment that stretches on for longer than you would have liked, she exhales, shoulders sagging. “I don’t know why I reacted like that, with the first shots I mean. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get you in trouble with Leo. I know how much his opinion means to you and I had been thinking that if you got me lectured by Geno I’d want an apology, so… yeah.” She finishes.
An un-familiar coldness washes over you as you digest her words. This isn't what you thought was happening, she was deviating from the script you had imagined, and essentially memorized by now with how often you replayed it in your head. “That’s what you want to apologize for?” You’re unable to keep the shock and anger from seeping into your tone. You lean back in your chair, arms crossing, subconsciously trying to protect yourself from the hurt you know she’s about to make you feel again.
“That’s all I have to apologize for.”
The tension between you crackles, a palpable energy that draws an invisible wall, furthering the separation between the two of you. "You think that's it?" Disbelief coloring your tone. "After ghosting me and making Azzi come tell me not to talk to you anymore, that's what you think you need to apologize for? Getting me in trouble with Leo?"
She looks taken aback, perhaps not expecting your reaction to be so intense. For a moment, she is silent, her eyes darting away before meeting yours again, this time with a mixture of frustration and pain.
"Come on, we were never even really friends.” She speaks softly, tone bordering on patronizing.
You can’t blink back the tears as they form in your eyes now, 'this isn't going to end well'.
“Don’t lie to me Bueckers.”
Paige recoils slightly at the sound of her last name leaving your mouth, as if your words are physical blows. For a moment, she seems to be struggling with something, then her posture stiffens, an accusing finger reaching out to point at you and she doubles down on her statement as everything seems to begin to escalate quicker than you're able to process it.
Paige’s words are muddled in your ears. “We both know that I was just your muse or whatever the hell you want to call it. You did not treat me like a friend, you used me to get praise from Leo and whoever the hell else you thought you needed approval from. You took me for your art when I was at my lowest, again and again, just because my face got your work attention.”
The accusation stings, not just because of its intensity, but because part of you knows there's some truth in it. You've always known how compelling she was in front of the camera, how her expressions could turn simple photos into art, and you loved it.
Before everything fell apart, the two of you had become something of a dynamic duo. Everywhere Paige went, often for basketball, you followed, and everywhere you went, a camera was almost always hanging around your neck.
The passion Paige had for her sport and the passion you had for your art is what originally brought the two of you together, bonding over the drive each of you had to constantly be your at your best, for better or for worse.
____
It was your freshman year. You had just been offered a coveted spot on the UConn sports media team after your photojournalism professor, Leo Howard, had apparently spent the entire semester showing your work to his collogues who had unanimously agreed, you were going to be something special. Being the only freshman to ever have been allowed to serve as the lead photographer at the school’s games was a big deal. The pressure not fully weighing down on you until the night before the UConn, Notre Dame women’s basketball game.
They had started you out small, tennis, water polo, even a soccer match as your superiors had gained more confidence in you. But this would be the first big event you’d shoot, your first chance to really prove yourself, to prove that Leo was right about you.
The clock had just struck midnight when you made your way across campus, having given up on trying to get any sleep earlier in the night. Opting instead to head to the athletics department gym where they had allowed you to stash away your things in a small, abandoned office room. Assuming that'd be better than staying cooped up in your dorm all night.
When you arrived, instead of being greeted by the silent gym you’d anticipated, a woman was stood at the half court line, a basketball bouncing up to meet her outstretched palm before being pushed down, again, again, again.
“The gym’s closed.” Her voice calls out to you, finally noticing you as you made your way across the court, heading for the office door.
You had lifted your UConn Staff lanyard up to show to her, “I could tell you the same thing.”
She approached you, your height difference becoming more apparent the closer she gets until she’s fully towering over you, “I don’t remember seeing you around here.”
“I’m the new photographer, I just started last month.”
This explanation apparently does little to clarify your sudden appearance in her court, “okay, but you’re not supposed to be here, it’s late.” She points out, her tone mixing curiosity with a hint of concern.
“I know but I’m shooting my first big event tomorrow and I couldn’t sleep so I figured I’d just come here and look at some old shots and stuff, prepare you know?” you rambled, hoping to justify your presence in the gym at such an unusual hour.
You’ve gotten her attention now, “Oh, I have a game tomorrow, is that what you’re here for?”
You had of course, assumed she was on the basketball team when you saw her dribbling the ball earlier. But as when she had moved to stand in front of you, you immediately recognized her as the infamous Paige Bueckers, the star player you’d been specifically ordered to get good shots of during this game.
"Yes, that's exactly it. I’ll be covering the game," you confirmed, feeling a slight relief as she seemed to recognize your role and accept the reason behind your late-night visit.
“Oh, cool, I guess I’ll be seeing you tomorrow then?”
You nod in response, “yeah, I guess you will.”
She gives you a small smile before beginning to walk back to her original position on the court, “I’m Paige by the way!” She calls out as you reach the door, you turn back, shouting your name out, already anticipating the next time you’d get to see her.
As it turns out, you don’t have to wait long. Barely 30 minutes have passed when you’re interrupted by a knock on your door, “hey,” she lets herself into the small office space, taking a seat on your desk.
“Hey?”
This girl has guts you can’t help but think. You’d just met and now she’s propping herself up on your furniture, uninvited. And you’d probably be a lot more bothered by her behavior if you weren’t so distracted by how pretty she looked, even under the glow of the notoriously unflattering florescent office lights.
“I was thinking, you need to practice shooting basketball games, and I’m just practicing shooting so if you wanted you could take pictures of me, you know, to get the hang of it.” She offers.
“Oh, yeah that actually sounds great!” You're unable to keep your excitement about getting to spend more time with her entirely out of your voice when you reply; grabbing your camera bag as she moves off your desk to stand back up, holding the door open before following you back out to the court.
“Honestly I’m kinda tired so I’m only doing free throws but feel free to take whatever pictures you want.”
You nod, taking her words to heart, the clicks of your camera mingling with the pounding of the ball on the floor as you take picture after picture after picture.
It doesn’t take long for the two of you to fall into a steady rhythm, occasionally daring to interrupt the other’s focus with questions, jokes, or quick quips about the others work.
The next day whenever she gets a basket, her eyes turn to you first, pointing at your camera for you to get a shot, and every time she does, you take it.
You’ve never seen Leo smile so big as he does when he gets your contact sheet.
The “You did good, kid. I hope to keep seeing more stuff like this.” echoing in your mind when you leave his office, calling Paige, “when’s the next time you can shoot?”
She had left practice the second she heard your voice over the phone, “I can be free now.”
____
You’re abruptly pulled from your memory by the chime of the café door. A group of girls enters, their laughter and chatter filling the air. One girl stands out, wearing a stark white jersey with the number 5 displayed prominently across her chest. The sight of it jolts you back to the present, a reminder of where you are and what’s at stake.
'Fuck this is bad.'
“Paige we can’t do this here” you say keeping your voice low, sensing that this may not end well, and as Paige had just mentioned, any pictures taken of her end up everywhere, and if captured, this probably wouldn’t end up being a pretty one.
She exhales sharply, her lips parting to argue, but then she pauses, her gaze shifting to follow yours, brows raising when she sees her lucky number 5 on the chest of a brunette who is now whispering with her friends, looking Paige's way. With a reluctant nod, she chooses silence, perhaps unable to concede that you might be right.
The two of you don’t make it far, your new location being her parked car that had been right outside. You assume the two of you will drive somewhere more private but the second the doors lock she’s turned back to you, brows raised in anticipation of your still pending rebuttal.
You take a deep breath, struggling to find the right words to express the mix of anger and hurt that's been simmering inside you since you first heard her pathetic attempt at an apology 10 minutes ago. “Let’s get one thing straight, if I wasn’t your best friend, you most certainly were not my ‘muse’.”
The sharp sound of her laughter interrupts you, “okay then, you were just using my face to further your career and you didn’t give a single fuck about me.”
Your anger only pulses hotter at her laughter. If you had thought the silence between you two was bad, then this must be hell. Everything she says, every expression she makes sends you spiraling deeper and deeper down. You don’t even want to look at her anymore, scared that if you catch her gaze again, the once warm and loving looks you remember her by will be permanently tainted by the pure and utter distain that seems to be consuming her now.
You want to reach out, to say something that will mend the rift, but fear and doubt hold you back. In this moment, you realize just how fragile your connection has become, teetering on the edge of collapse.
"I wasn't using you," you assert firmly, struggling to keep your voice level. "Yes, you've helped my career—that's undeniable. But that was never the only thing you were for me. Our friendship, what I thought was our friendship, meant more to me than any photo ever could."
Paige's laughter fades, and she looks at you, her expression hardening as she processes your words.
"It didn't feel that way to me," she shoots back, her voice tight. "Every time you needed something for your portfolio or an exhibit, who did you turn to, not any of your other friends, me. Don’t you think that’s a little strange.”
The accusation stings, God she really knew nothing about you, did she?
“I reached out to you because I thought you liked it. Every time I took something you posted it, on media days you always requested me specifically, even when we were freshman and there were people who knew much more than I did, so don’t try to delude yourself, we both benefited from this. But at least I was under the impression that we liked spending time together, that it wasn't all just so I could get more praise for my pictures.”
She stares at you, her expression blank, as if your words are too much for her to process.
"You actually need to just leave now," her hand reaching to unlock the car doors while she motions for you to exit.
'She's scared, back down, stop this while you still can.' You think, but emotion takes over before you can stop yourself.
“No," you reply appalled, "you can't just kick me out because I made a good point.”
She lets out a dismissive scoff, her hands moving to grip the steering wheel tightly, knuckles white with tension. "This is my car and I’m asking you to leave.”
Your eyes narrow feeling a sudden surge of familiar desperation. “You’ve walked away from me once, I’m not about to let you do it again.” You take a deep breath, “if you really thought I was using you, you wouldn’t have agreed to shoot with me constantly for the last 2 years. So why are you really shutting me out Paige?” You press, watching her closely. Your heart pounds in your chest, each beat echoing your fear of losing her for good.
She just stares at you, her gaze cold and unwavering, each of you refusing to be the one to break eye contact with the other.
She diverts her gaze, her eyes finally falling away from yours. Staying silent for a full minute before she straightens up, seemingly gathering her composure, and shifts the conversation topic away from her wrongdoings and back to yours.
“Intentions don’t matter anymore. Actions do. And your actions have shown me exactly where I stand in your life. Tell me again, what's your most famous photo, huh?"
It's a low blow, and it doesn’t take long for you to catch onto what she’s talking about. The two of you have had quite a few viral moments but one far surpassed the other.
There was only one picture that had landed a coveted cover spot on the headlined article on ESPN, a place in CNN’s ‘This Week in Pictures’ and internship offers from all the way in New York to L.A.
____
She had crumpled to the ground, clutching her knee in agony, silencing the crowd in an instant. Her teammates had quickly formed a barrier around her, protecting her. Through a narrow gap between them, her eyes, wide and brimming with pain and vulnerability, darted around frantically until they finally locked onto yours.
It was a look of pure, raw emotion—a silent plea for comfort, for reassurance, for the familiar presence that had always been her anchor.
Her hand reached out, trembling, as if by some miracle, your touch could erase the pain. And in that moment, as she reached desperately towards you, almost mechanically, you lifted your camera.
The weight of it felt heavier than ever before. Looking through the viewfinder, you saw her in perfect focus, every detail of her suffering magnified. Her eyes, filled with a mixture of hope and despair, seemed to question your every move.
As you pressed the shutter, capturing the raw, gut-wrenching moment, a pang of guilt surged through you. The image was powerful, a testament to her strength and vulnerability, but it came at a cost.
Lowering the camera, you were left standing there, the echo of the shutter still ringing in your ears. You wanted to drop everything and run to her, but the moment had passed. The damage was done. Her eyes, now filled with a sense of betrayal, lingered on you before she turned away, her teammates closing ranks around her once more.
____
You gape at her, a million thoughts running through your mind, none of them coherent enough to form a sentence. You thought about this picture frequently; its creation was instinctive, driven by a reflex that you hadn't fully understood even as you pressed the shutter. You’d always (foolishly) assumed that she had known that you never meant for the photo to get out. It was a mistake, a lapse in judgment, a moment of weakness where your professional instincts overpowered your personal loyalty.
'This is it, this is why she's not talking to you, this whole time it's been your fault.'
It was never meant to be published—but Leo had discovered it, and from there, it spiraled out of your control, gaining a life of its own in the public eye.
The image, once released, spread like wildfire. It became the defining shot of your career and the defining wound of hers.
“Paige, I-“
She shakes her head no, her expression eerily similar to the one in the picture that ruined the two of you.
“Please just leave,” she repeats, her normally deep voice an octave lower with the intensity of the emotion coursing through her words.
Realizing you have no ground left to stand on, the least you figure you can do is abide by her request. You reach for the door handle, but her voice stops you.
"And for the record," she begins, answering your earlier question, "I always agreed to those photos because I loved you and I thought maybe, just maybe, if I helped you get what you wanted, it might make you love me back.”
Her confession wrenches a sudden and uncontrollable sob from your throat, you want nothing more than to shut the door, wrap your arms around her, and beg for the forgiveness you know deep down you’ll never deserve until your heart gives out.
But instead you stand, exiting the car and turning to her one last time, speaking up through tears, "I can't justify taking that picture, and I know that if I spent every moment of my life trying to make it up to you, I'd still fall short," you say, your voice choked with regret.
Taking a deep breath, you looking up before meeting her gaze again. "And I know I didn’t show it well, but I would only spend so much time trying to make art if it was for someone I loved, and I loved you too, so much."
She looks away, blinking back tears, her shoulders trembling, she whispers, her voice barely audible, repeating the words you’d uttered just a few minutes before, “don’t lie to me.”

clouded in memories
hughes!sister x will smith au (samy + will)
samy & will try soaking up all the time they have left together in the last few weeks of summer before leaving for college.
wc: 2k
i think i’m coming out of the writers slump(yay!) i know this isn’t any of the requests, but i needed to write something that wasn’t requests to get out of the slump and i actually kind of like it :) i feel like i never write the really early moments of samy + will’s relationship, so enjoy! (i promise requests are coming) (p.s. the bedroom pic is what i imagine samy’s room in michigan to look like)
au masterlist
there was one thing will couldn't stop thinking about all practice and that was getting to lay in samy's bed for the rest of the day. he'd been up since 7 for morning practice and by the time 10:30 rolled around, the boy was ready to do nothing for the whole day and luckily, since it was summer, he could do exactly that. the blonde rushed himself out of the rink once he was showered and in clean clothes, not even caring to say goodbye to the other guys because of how eager he was to leave.
he sent a quick text to his mom so she knew where he was going before pulling up samy's contact. he knew she'd say yes, but he just wanted to make sure it was okay that he came over before he just invited himself. the ringtone rang through his car speakers while will eagerly waited for the girl to pick up so he could pull out of the lot.
"hi, will. what's up?" her soft voice filled his car.
"hi, are you busy right now?" the hockey player asked, already sliding into drive and navigating himself out of the lot.
"no, just packing up some of my room. why?"
"i'm coming over," will said it more as a statement than a question because he wasn't really planning on asking, he was just making her aware he would be there in less than 29 minutes.
a little giggle left her lips, "is everything okay?"
"everything's fine. just wanna see you. lay in your bed. i've been thinking about those two things all morning," he unashamedly admitted because at this point, after endless teasing from the guys, will wasn't afraid to admit when he wanted to see samy and say how much he missed her.
"oh really?" he could hear the amusement in her tone.
"mhm. i'm trying to soak up the last few weeks we have together and i also didn't sleep that well last night. i think i sleep better in your bed anyway," will explained a bit and he could hear the smile in samy's voice even though they weren't on facetime.
"wow, glad my bed can be of service then. hope you don't mind the mess that my room is right now," he could picture her meticulously separating each item into it's own labeled box and it brought a grin to the blonde's lips.
"how much do you have to go?"
"like all of my clothes," she cringed.
"don't worry, we haven't even finished packing the house yet. it looks like a mess too," will chuckled thinking about the disaster his house was right now too. now that dev program was over and there wasn't a need to constantly be in michigan, the smiths were moving back to boston so they'd be closer to will and grace at bc.
"i'm actually feeling emo that all of you are leaving michigan in a few weeks," the brunette admitted now that her and will were just talking as he got on the highway to ann arbor.
"don't remind me. i've been choosing not to think about that," anytime the blonde thought about how he wouldn't be in michigan anymore, it made him incredibly sad, so he decided pushing all thoughts of moving out of his head until he couldn't anymore.
it wasn't even that he was leaving the guys, they were all coming with him to boston. it was the fact that he was leaving samy. she'd been his rock these past two years and will couldn't even fathom the idea of not getting to see her everyday.
so that's why he wanted to soak up these last few weeks as much as he could.
"well, my bed will be all ready when you get here. text me when you pull up and i'll come let you in," samy's voice snapped him out of his thoughts again.
will smiled, "sounds good. i can't wait. see you soon."
the two hung up and will spent the next 28 minutes on auto pilot driving on the interstate. it happened quite frequently whenever he made the trip down because he's done it so many times that he didn't really need to pay attention. he basically blinked and he was pulling into the hughes's driveway. will grabbed his phone again to tell samy he was there before climbing out and making his way to the front porch.
the girl was opening the door before he even made it onto the step. will quickly mirrored her excitement as his arms flew around her shoulders into a tight hug. "my bed's all ready for you," the brunette giggled, leading the boy inside.
"thank god," he kicked his shoes off and didn't waste another second following her upstairs.
upon entering, will was a bit taken aback with how bare all the walls looked. samy wasn't kidding about packing her room up. he had to stop in the doorway for a second just taking it in making the girl glance back at him. "you okay?"
"wow, yeah, sorry. it looks so different in here," the blonde mumbled while his gaze slowly flicked across the room trying to remember what was there before the empty wall.
"oh yeah, i was taking everyday down today besides the photo wall," the brunette explained and then will's glance went to the corner where two walls met that's been decorated with photos since he knew her.
he trailed over to it. even though the hockey player has been in samy's room countless of times, he's never fully looked at the wall in detail. there were so many photos lining the space from the floor to the ceiling—will had to crane his neck up to see the ones at the very stop and crouch for the ones at the very bottom.
"how long have you had this again?" the boy wondered.
"about a year after we moved here, so like 7 years or something?" samy came up beside him, her arm sliding up his back until it was on his shoulder and she found a place to perch her chin there too.
"wow. that's a long time. i can't believe some of these were 7 years ago," one of them near the bottom caught will's eye because he was in it.
him and samy looked awfully young in it, maybe 11 or 12? "this one looks ancient," he laughed and pointed it out to the girl.
"oh yeah, we were like 12 in that or something. one of the many pictures our moms forced us to take," samy giggled.
"i kind of miss being that young. we didn't have to care about anything just when practice was, if there was a game, and what was for dinner," will laughed again, turning to press a gentle kiss to samy's forehead.
"yeah, tell me about it. i miss it. especially after spending the last like three days packing," she drifted away from him and will finally pulled his eyes away from the photo wall to the rest of the room. like he suspected, the younger hughes had piles in different corners with different things to be packed away. in the middle of the room was all of her posters that were once on the wall now waiting to be rolled up.
"at least you won't be far away from home if you ever needed something," the blonde crawled into samy's bed that's been calling his name since he arrived. she giggled watching her boyfriend curl himself up into the blankets.
"yeah, that's a plus at least. i'm still sad though because i probably won't ever like really live here ever again, you know?" she went to her posters again, wanting to have them all rolled up before she joined will in her bed.
"summer?"
"i mean, yeah, but we'll probably be at the lake house or wherever. i mean i won't be in this room for a long time ever again," the girl elaborated and will understood.
"i get it. i'm never gonna see that michigan house ever again probably," it was all so bittersweet because on the one hand, they were all getting to pursue their dreams at their dreams schools, but on the other hand, they'd never be in this exact moment or place ever again.
"did you at least have fun here?" samy changed the subject because if they kept talking about leaving, she'd start crying.
"obviously i did. best two years of my life honestly," will quickly said and he wasn't lying. the last two years in plymouth was the best time he's ever had because he had everything he could've ever wanted: his girl and his best friends.
"i can't believe i'm saying this, but i think meeting your friends was the best thing that's happened to me too. they're my rocks," samy chuckled thinking about those 6. she's met a lot of hockey boys between all of her brothers, but she could confidently say that will's class were her favorites. not saying she didn't get along with quinn, jack, and luke's friends, but something about ryan, gabe, vote, fowler, drew, and aram really had her wishing they didn't have to leave for college.
"i think we can all say the same about you. i don't think i've ever seen them so sad to leave before," the couple shared a laugh.
"marcie's gonna miss you all too. she said we have to reunite next summer," the other brunette was heading to west coast for college which meant she probably wouldn't be back home until next summer.
"for sure," a comfortable silence spread across the room while samy finished rolling her last two posters and will just stared at her. it was clear both of them had a lot running through their minds and they could tell how much they just needed a day to slow down and take it all in.
will reached out to gently tug his girlfriend's arm. she met his little pleading gaze to get into bed with him, a small laugh escaping her lips. "i'm coming, i'm coming."
he opened his arms for her. as soon as samy got in beside him, it felt like all of the weight that's been weighing will down lifted off his chest. his racing thoughts finally eased and the tension in his muscles quickly dissipated when samy's touch littered his torso. they pretty much melted into one another in the comfort and warmth of the girl's bed.
"what am i gonna do without you?" the hockey player mumbled into her hair.
"honestly, i don't know. so much has happened in the last two years that i never thought twice about not seeing you for months on end when we were younger and now i can't imagine not seeing you every day," the brunette admitted softly. her breath tickled the boy's neck, but her words just made him pull her even closer.
"me neither. you're my rock. how am i supposed to live without my rock?" will hummed sadly. the girl pulled back a bit so she could catch his glance and mustered her best smile for both of their sakes.
"i guess that means a lot of facetime calls then. be prepared to get sick of me," they chuckled.
"i could never get sick of you, but gabe might every time he hears your voice," the blonde leaned down again to place another gentle kiss on the bridge of samy's nose. his soft gesture earned a bright blush on her cheeks before burying her head back into his chest so he didn't see.
the two stayed like that until they both drifted to sleep much like will was intending. ellen came up the stairs a few hours later wondering how her daughter was doing with packing. she knocked, but grew curious when no one responded from the other side.
"samy?" she knocked again. still no answer.
the older woman finally pushed the door open. a look of surprise crossed her features when she saw her daughter and will tangled together fast asleep. a small smile replaced the surprise though as she figured will was here when she spotted his car in the driveway. she carefully retreated back down the stairs not wanting to disturb them while also digging her phone out to tell colleen they totally predicted the relationship and their husbands owed them $20.

02-Suitors
This one’s a lot longer than my first Zelink oneshot! Hope you enjoy!
Happy Halloween everyone :)
Here’s the link to my other oneshots ——> Zelink masterlist
Ship: Zelink
Warnings? None!
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Link was a hair away from smacking the stuck up prince with the pommel of his sword. How he has kept his cool through countless suitors he didn't know. (That's a lie. He's been counting, and it's been twelve suitors.)
Prince Caro , with his brown hair and blue eyes, droned on and on for so long Link counted seven times since Zelda had zoned out completely disinterested with what the prince had to say. She normally never did that, she loved to listen to people as much as she loved talking. But the prince didn't even give her any space to get in a word. He didn't once ask about what she liked to do or where she went in her free time or what her favorite dessert was?
She glanced over her shoulder and met Link's gaze with knitted brows. He gave her a smile of pity that probably looked more like a grimace. He could tell she was hating this just as much as he was. No, definitely more than he was. He didn't have to talk to the guy.
"Does he have to follow us? You're perfectly safe with me. See we have guards stationed everywhere." The prince turned halfway to frown at the blonde hero.
Link kept his expression level as the prince stared. He seriously considered jumping him. That would be truly reckless. Though he thought Zelda might be happy if he did and they could make their grand escape.
"But you know, there's a fine line between courage and recklessness! As brave as you are, that does not make you immortal." Link chuckled inwardly at the memory of him and Zelda—of course there was a difference between facing multiple lynels, lizafos, and bokoblins compared to one prince but he thought it would've been worth it. Though he would upset an entire kingdom and the King of Hyrule.
"Yes," she replied, glancing at a picture on the wall. "Link is always by my side."
"I didn't ask for his name, Zelda." Caro shook his head.
Zelda's eyebrows rose and she turned her head towards him. "You will respect my knight who is, in fact, the Hero of Hyrule. Without him and I, the calamity would've taken over your kingdom as well," she replied, her tone firm. "And we aren't on a first name basis. So that is Princess to you."
Link bit his cheek. He noticed it has been a lot harder to hide his emotions (especially smiles) ever since he'd grown closer with the blonde haired girl.
Caro matched her raised brows, obviously not expecting a retort to put him in his place. The prince waved his hand and continued through the gardens. Link noticed Zelda's clenched fists and her apparent frown.
He flicked his eyes back to the prince and watched him walk down the hall. The brunette prince reminded him of a moblin: tall and stupid. Resembling the royal to a snout-nosed blue monster was being generous. Extremely generous.
"You'll see here is my favorite part of the hall." Caro steeped his arm in an arc.
Of course it would be. Trophies were individually displayed in glass cases, many engraved with a bow and quiver of arrows. He only found one that said the prince's name, and it read, 'Participation award.'
Hylia, spare me. Link looked momentarily towards the ceiling.
"I'm an incredible archer so as you can see here I've won many, many contests." His smug smile almost made Link roll his eyes. Almost, Link wouldn't give him the satisfaction.
I could beat him, Link found himself thinking. Was it a bit prideful? Yes. But it was also humble because he said 'could' which gave the prince a slight chance against him. Link thought he was doing okay at balancing his jealousy.
Zelda, much to Link's delight, didn't really react much except for a "Very nice."
"Why thank you." The prince put a hand to his chest and continued on.
"Do you have a library?" Zelda asked, glancing down a neighboring hall.
"... yeah I think so?" Caro’s eyebrows furrowed.
"You think?" One of Zelda's golden brows quirked upwards.
"Why would you want to go to one anyways?"
Zelda let out a light sigh as she gestured forward with her hand. "Nevermind. Please continue, Prince Caro."
—————————————————
Orange and pink tinted clouds ribboned the tiring sky. Link and Zelda stood side by side as they took in the beauty of the setting sun. It has been a good hour since their agonizing tour with the trivial prince.
Link's blue eyes flicked to Zelda and he watched the way the fading golden rays framed her face. She was absolutely breathtaking. If Link had paint and an easel he could only dream of capturing her essence in this moment.
He quickly noticed the shift in her eyes, an underlying thought she's held back.
"Link."
He hummed in acknowledgment and tilted his head.
"What would you do in my situation?"
Link cast his eyes toward the horizon. That was a difficult question considering he had an unspoken irritation regarding the princess meeting with suitors who could be potential husbands for her. The thought left a bitter taste in his mouth and opened a new door to a fear of his. He didn't want to stop being her knight. He didn't trust another man to protect her like he would—-like he does.
Instead of voicing any of his internal thoughts, naturally, he replied with, "I don't know." Because really what could she do? Deny the King's orders, her father, and run away? Abandon her duties as the future queen of Hyrule? He didn't know what he would do if he was forced into this situation of an arranged marriage.
Zelda nodded. "I don't know either. But I can't... I can't do this... None of them care about me. Or desire to get to know me. The feeling is mutual, don't get me wrong, but... I don't want to have to marry a... a ... mindless buffoon who only cares about his looks and the union for power. He'll take control over my kingdom and I will have no say in it. I'm sure he would forbid me from pursuing my studies."
I wouldn't. I would let you talk about them all day long. Link imagined them in Hyrule Field—like that one day where she showed him the Silent Princess—laying in the grass as she told him everything new she's read and discovered. Her green eyes would light up like they always did. He would be completely content hearing her voice from the waking hours of dawn to the darkening hours of the twilight.
His heart stuttered when she met his eyes. "Can you take me back, Link? Please? I- I can't stay here anymore. My father can't force me to love him or any of them. Not when I..."
Link's heart now pounded frantically against his chest, he was seriously going to have a heart attack someday because of her.
She didn't finish, much to Link's disappointment. "You don't have to-"
"Whatever you wish, I'll abide Z-" His pointy ears twitched as he heard footsteps against stone. "Princess."
Zelda raised an eyebrow but followed his gaze towards the cobblestone path. She let out a sigh and turned to greet the prince.
"Princess. It saddens me to say but this won't work out." The prince shook his head.
Link didn't miss the way the side of Zelda's lip twitched as she fought a smile.
"I must apologize for such a heartbreaking rejection but it had to be done." The prince put a hand to his head.
"I'll forgive you someday." Zelda sighed and started to walk away.
"Should I walk you...?" He trailed off, clearly uncomfortable and reluctant to do so.
"I'm alright. I have Link," she replied simply.
"Right... you said that before. Anyways, farewell. I had a...lovely? Yes lovely... tour with you in the garden."
"Ah... yes... lovely." She gave him a small smile.
The pair watched him walk away until he disappeared around the corner.
"I would've taken you back either way, Zel." Link glanced at her sideways.
"I know. Thank you."
"Always."
They sat in comfortable silence, watching as the last traces of golden light sank into the horizon.
"I'm going to talk to my father," Zelda announced and Link glanced at her.
"About stopping this." She gestured behind her towards the looming castle. "Stopping all of it."
"I'm with you." Link nodded once.
Zelda's eyes softened. "Thank you Link. Your support means more than you know."
He gave her a light smile and held out his hand. "Shall we head home?"
"We shall." Zelda nodded and accepted his hand with a smile that reached her eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Link noticed the way Zelda's arms trembled as she stared solemnly at the oak door of her fathers study. She inhaled shakily.
"You can do it, Princess." The blonde knight laid a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Zelda tore her gaze from the looming door and met his gaze. He could see the fear in her eyes.
"He'll be furious."
"You don't have to do this."
"No." Her eyes flashed with determination. "I have to." She raised her hand and knocked.
"Enter." The King's voice carried through the wooden oak.
Zelda took a deep breath. With one last glance at Link she turned the handle.
He followed in behind her and bowed before the King. Rhoam stood from his chair and walked around his desk that was filled with documents and empty ink bottles.
"Rise Link."
Link did.
"Leave us please. I must speak to my daughter alone. I'll send her for you once we are finished."
Link briefly looked at Zelda, watching the way her face fell slightly. Zelda turned towards him and they shared a look.
He gave the King a curt nod and with one last glance at his princess, he exited the study.
——————————————-
Rhoam stayed silent until Link shut the door. His eyes flitted to Zelda and he raised his eyebrows. "Why is it that I've just heard of how difficult you were with Prince Caro? There's no chance of union between us and the Wiln Kingdom."
Difficult?
"I don't care." Zelda's words came out before her brain could process their meaning. Though she didn't regret them.
"Pardon?"
"I said I don't care," she repeated.
"Zelda," her father started, his tone stern. "I know you are having a hard time with this suitor situation. But it is my duty as King and your duty as princess to do what's best for the kingdom of Hyrule. Which is why I have promised you to the Prince Elok of Lon."
Zelda's stomach dropped. "Promised? How could you?" Her voice broke. "What about your duty as a father? As my father? Do you not want your only daughter to marry for love? To be married to someone she trusts fully? Why do you want to marry me off to some random prince who doesn't care about me?!" She shouted with tears burning the edges of her eyes like wildfires. "I did what you asked. I trained relentlessly. You already took my childhood away from me... you can't take this away too. It should be my choice. I'm who I decide to marry."
"You are a princess-"
"Who sealed the calamity away! Don't I get points for that? I don't want to marry if it isn't for love!"
The king scoffed and shook his head. "What do you know of love, Zelda? You're eighteen years old."
"I'm in it! I'm in love with someone! Not with any of the suitors and I certainly won't be with this new one. Someone who wouldn't suppress my interests and who I am!"
"Who could you possibly-"
"Link."
Rhoam stared at her, stunned.
"...Link? I thought you despised him."
Zelda's ears burned as she reminisced about her childish actions. Link and her did have a rocky start, much to her accusations and misunderstandings. But she apologized and they ended up growing closer.
She wanted to say, 'If you had paid any attention at all then you would've realized I don't hate him.'
But instead she said, "No."
"Why didn't you come and talk to me about this?"
Zelda's hands shook at her sides. "You never gave me the space or safety to do so. All you do is lecture me."
"I-" Rhoam's hand covered his mouth as he stared out the window. He was silent for a long time.
Zelda's eyes fell to the floor.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I was so harsh on you."
In time she would find it in herself to forgive him. She knew that. But now, it wasn't the right time.
"I know it was what you believed was best for me," she replied instead.
"Yes, but I should've thought of you. You're my daughter and I didn't protect you."
She didn't disagree with that.
They were both quiet for a while.
"How did your powers awaken?" Her father broke the heavy silence.
Zelda's mind flashed back to the rush of guardians, the gleaming fires, the harsh rain, and the anxiety that grew in her chest.
But none of that mattered when the guardian aimed at Link. Her stomach dropped to the floor and she felt this overwhelming urge to save him without any fear for her own life. She couldn't let him die, not when she...
Not when she loved him.
She remembered thinking of every moment she shared with her blonde haired knight. Every smile, conversation, and burden they shared.
When she pushed him back to stand in front of him, her hand grew warm and a blinding light erupted from her palm.
"I let Link in," Zelda paused. "...and there wasn't anything more important in that moment than saving him."
Rhoam nodded. "I see... You have my blessing."
Zelda's eyes snapped to him. "What?" she found herself blurting, unsure if she heard her fathers words right.
"No more suitors. If you want to marry Link and if he accepts, I shall accept your wishes. I'll discard the letter I've started for giving your hand to Prince Elok."
She couldn't help the happy tears that sprung to her eyes and the glowing smile that overtook her lips.
"Thank you, Father."
He smiled and shooed her. "Go to him."
Zelda didn't need to be told twice. She threw the doors open and ran down the corridor. She rounded the corner and nearly ran into one of the maids.
"Princess?!" The maid exclaimed, holding her white bandana in place.
"So sorry Ronda!"
Zelda's only thought was to get to her knight.
——————————————
Link's ears twitched at the rapidly approaching steps. He tensed as he reached for the handle of his sword and whipped his head towards the possible threat.
His eyes locked onto golden hair and he lowered his hand slowly as he realized it was Zelda. He scanned her expression and his shoulders relaxed when he realized she wasn't in danger.
Though his brain did short circuit when she ran into his arms and hugged him around the waist. The tips of his ears turned pink and his face went slack. She's hugging me. She's hugging me?
He tentatively wrapped his arms around her shoulders. His heart thundered in his chest and he wondered if she could hear it.
She pulled away—much to Link's dismay—and stood in front of him with a bright smile, one that could light the night sky—-his favorite smile of hers.
Though he was very confused, she never came back from a talk with the King in good spirits. She always sulked and not even her research could pull her out of it.
"Link, you won't believe it!"
He raised his brows as he waited for her to continue, praying his face wasn't as red as it felt.
"No more suitors! No more awful tours!"
"Wh-what made him change his mind?" Link found himself asking.
"Well..." Zelda's eyes shied away from him. He was surprised he was waiting for her to look at him rather than the other way around.
"I told him I was in love with another. And if it wasn't him I would marry. I didn't want it."
"Oh... who?" A small sliver of hope shone through the doubts crushing his stomach.
Zelda took in a breath and released it before meeting his gaze. "You Link. I'm in love with you."
The world seemed to tilt beneath the blonde hero's feet as he stared at her with his mouth slightly agape. He was surprised he didn't pass out or wake up from this insane dream. Because it had to be a dream, right?
"B-but don't feel the need to reciprocate my feelings because I'm a princess. Rejection is a part of life. The last thing I would want is to pressure you especially when you don't feel the same way. What I'm trying to say is you don't have to accept my- my proposal. I know the duty alone would be a huge step and a life change, naturally, but-"
"I- Can you say that again?" Link fell deaf to the rest of her ramble, his brain zeroing in on the fact she declared her love. For him. A mere knight.
"What?" Her hands fell to her side.
"What you said before- are you really in... love with..." His eyes flitted from the side to her. "Me?"
Zelda's eyes softened. "I am in love with you, Link."
He definitely wasn't dreaming.
"I'm in love with you, Zelda. I always have been." He felt like a weight had been lifted off of his chest.
"Really?"
"Really." He held out his arm. When she carefully placed her hand in his, he boldly kissed the back of it. A sly smile twitched at the corner of his mouth.
"You missed." Mirth twinkled in her emerald eyes.
"Did I?" He raised a brow at her.
"Mhm." A chuckle escaped her chest. Sliding her other hand behind his neck, she gently placed her lips on his.
He kissed her back and slid an arm around her waist, pulling her closer.
"I love you." Zelda said once they broke away and she started to cry.
Link tucked a stray piece of hair behind her pointed ears. He wiped away her tears with his thumbs before pulling her in for a hug. "And I love you."
End of year animatic clearout!
Going on a trip over the new year, so I'm just gonna be leaving this here until I get back - a bunch of ideas I had for animations, animatics, pmvs, etc that I never got around to making. Rather than letting them sit around gathering dust as I regret not doing them, I just want to throw them out into the ether and see if they click for someone else.
I might end up making some of these eventually, just feel like there's a difference between having an idea and making something good with that idea. I either feeI I lack the skills to execute these in the way I want, the effort-to-payoff ratio isn't worth the mental strain, I want to understand the context behind the audio before making anything with it, or I'm just too normal about the characters involved to make the idea work.
Some of these are pretty out there since my brain runs on an incredibly buggy version of Miles's Logic System, so here goes!
Planetary Go! - Klavier. Just think it fits him.
Sleepwalk - Miles and DL-6. This song reminds me of recurring nightmares where you can never quite remember what happened, only that there must be some cause..
Psycho Killer - Miles and DL-6. To me this feels more about a man who feels he's an irredeemable monster for things out of his control, rather than an actual killer. Though I really don't know how to make that clear in visual.
Shikabane no Odori - Dahlia Hawthorne. You know how in some myths butterflies are considered messengers from the afterlife? Yeah..
Bruno is Orange - Iris Hawthorne. I think this song's strangely fitting for a woman who's somewhat complicit yet clearly a victim of her family's crimes and can only make her situation clear through careful wording. I like it in concept, but I want to do her story justice and need to revisit AA3-5 to see it in full.
This one ProZD Audio - Fendershields and Verity. No explanation needed.
Saint Bernard - Simeon. Again, no explanation needed.
Animal Cannibal from Possibly in Michigan - Simeon. I think this one is a suprisingly accurate description of his backstory.
Bubblegum b*tch - Feenie and Dahlia/Iris. The song has the same upbeat yet ever so slightly duplicitous vibe as their college relationship, plus the line "I'm the girl you'd die for" is perfect in context.
How do I unbake a cake? - The IS-7 characters. Don't know who, just that it has to happen.
Too Sweet - Godot and Mia. I just think it fits them, okay..
Copycat - The Phantom. Again, it just fits.
The Monty Hall Problem - Miles, Nick, Eustace and Kay, No guessing who's who.
Digital silence (In particular the second verse) - The AAI2 Mastermind's Plan.
Why Am I Anxious? - just Miles questioning Wright's life choices.
This TOH Fandub - Eustace and Ex*lsius. No additional context.
Message Lost - Amelie, then Verity taking care of Shaun following Amelie's death. This one's ever so slightly left of the song's intentional meaning in story context.
Laplace's Angel - AAI2. Like, All Of It. I have thoughts on every single line and actually making this video might just make me lose my last few marbles.
Pork Soda - AA3-5. Same as above.
I Did Not Account For This - I2-5. Heard this song out of context and though the feeling of so many things happening at once fits the context of the buildup throughout this case.
Avalanche - Phoenix and his ties to the Feys throughout his life, particularly in T&T.
Life Itself - Hugh O' Connor. I feel it has that "in my mid 20s and slowly losing any chance of success in life" feeling. Though I want it to have some sort of hopeful ending.
Two Time - Trucy, and how she was used by the people she cares about, in two separate yet familiar ways.
Whipped Into Shape - Franziska. This one was a request I got through youtube and I kinda want to do it sometime.. after I actually get around to watching Legally Blonde and its musical adaptation.
This one IASIP Scene - Miles and Eustace. This dialog in the second half of the video straight up sounds like a conversation between these two.
Usseewa / Bitter Choco Decoration mashup - Fransiska and Eustace, and how they deal with the impossible expectations set by criminal fathers.
Grace Kelly - Wright, and how he constantly ends up changing himself for the people he loves.
The Bidding - The Themis Weirdos and the Love Triangle Rumour. The first verse made me think of Myriam, one thing led to another, and now this is stuck in my brain.
Well, better than the alternative - Nick and Miles over the 7 years and going into the AJ trilogy. Would elaborate, but thinking of this song for longer than 3 seconds makes me cry.
Here's to hoping at least one of these seems like a good idea! And if not... maybe there's something for a character playlist in there, idk.
The Long Con, pt. 2
Access pt. 1 here. I've also decided to start posting this on ao3 as well, which you can find here.
Las Vegas, Nevada
Steve had met Robin during one of the lowest parts of his life. After leaving Boston and everything he knew behind, Steve hopped from place to place for a few weeks. Working odd jobs just to get from one place to the next. Eventually, he landed himself in Vegas. It had felt far enough from home where he would avoid being found, but also less obvious than a place like LA.
Steve had a lot of vices in his past life, sex, money, and women, but gambling wasn't one of them. So if someone was following the trail of his bad habits, Vegas wouldn't even cross their mind.
Steve began working at a bar on the strip when he arrived. It was a fancy place, wasn't part of a casino, and stood out independently. The Bearpoppy Lounge. It was the type of place where everyone wore suits and Gucci belts. Wealth was not only flaunted but required. It reminded Steve of the places his parents used to take him to impress business partners.
Robin had been his trainer for the bar, and well, she had absolutely hated him at first. Steve hadn't been able to figure out why. He was incredibly charming, and women usually fell at his feet. Okay, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but people usually drew to him. It had been a shock to the system when the first thing Robin had said to him was,
"I give you two days before you quit."
"What?" Steve asked in shock. Surely, she couldn't have been serious. "Do I not even get your name? Or, I don't know, a hello?" Steve thought he should reel in the snark. It wouldn't help his situation to let out his bitchy side. He just wasn't used to it. The lack of immediate trust he got from strangers. Most people would find that mentality naive, but Steve was raised to be enticing.
"My name is Robin, like it says on my name tag if you had bothered to read it. And I don't usually bother with introductions. I know the pretty boy type; trust me, it doesn't last." Robin wiped down glasses at the bar and didn't look up as she spoke.
Steve was resisting the urge to blow up on her. He couldn't prove her right. He had to lay on the charm thick.
Steve took in Robin's appearance before answering. She was pretty. Short dirty blonde hair cut to her chin with pink at the ends. Light freckles decorated Robin's face, which defined her already high cheekbones. She was tall, almost as tall as him, but she held herself awkwardly, like she didn't know what to do with her limbs. Robin would be easy to charm. Beautiful, so he wouldn't have to lie, and insecure so he could work her. "Well, if pretty girls like you can make it this far, I don't see why I can't." Steve leaned his body against the counter and appraised Robin up and down.
Robin snorted, "Oh god, you can't be serious. Please don't tell me the next thing you're gonna say is how you 'got lost in my beautiful blue orbs' like we were in some cheesy fanfiction."
Steve's mask fumbled a bit. "Orbs? What? Eyes can't be orbs. Then you'd have to see all the way around? Right? Wait—" Steve spiraled for a minute. Robin threw him off his rhythm.
Robin's face cracked slightly at Steve's confusion before she sighed deeply. "Look, I'm going to be, uh, straight, with you." Robin paused as she had a sort of inside joke with herself. "I don't like you."
Ouch. "Ouch."
Robin pushed on, "Look, it's not about you personally. It's about, ya know, what you represent. Like you came in here with no experience, no background, and just charmed your way into this job. Now I have to spend two weeks training you, only for you to stay a month tops. Guys, girls, and everything between, like you only come to work here for two things. Fortune and fame. They come to find a rich spouse or try to catch the eye of someone with a business card and a one-way ticket to Hollywood. And listen, it works. Most of you guys get what you want. Any other bar on the strip, I would tell you to quit while you're ahead. Big names come in here, though. And most of you get what you want. And if you don't? Well, you usually break and go back home to Mommy and Daddy. You all leave me high and dry and training another person. The worst offenders of all are the pretty boys. They come in here, lay on the charm, making assumptions about me, try to sleep with me, and when I don't give them what they want, they turn on me. So, sorry if I don't think we will get along."
Steve felt something inside him snap, "You know, for someone who hates people making assumptions about others, you really are assuming a lot about me." Robin looked taken aback by the bitchy attitude. Steve pressed on, "And I don't want that, Robin: fortune and fame. I mean, a little fortune would be nice, but who doesn't want that? And did you think that there was a reason I had to charm my way into this job? You said it yourself I have no experience! How will I ever gain that if I don't have the job to try it in the first place? And for your information Robin, there is no way I am running back to Mommy and Daddy. I think I'd rather take my chances with the streets, thank you very much."
Robin opened her mouth to speak, but Steve cut her off.
"Also, if you aren't into me, that's fine. I wouldn't make you uncomfortable for it. I'm not everyone's type; I can deal with that." Steve crossed his arms, emphasizing his point to her.
Robin swallowed, a bit of shame crept onto her face. "Sorry."
Steve sighed, "It's fine."
"No, it's not. I didn't give you the chance to fuck up first. I should at least give you that. And I get it, you know. Not going back to the parents."
The tension left Steve, "Yeah?"
"Yea, it's actually for the reason you're not my type. "
"Huh?"
Robin giggled but then looked hesitant. "I'm pretty sure the only kind of person you aren't the type for shares something in common with me. I'm a lesbian, dude. "
Steve took in the way Robin shrunk on herself even more and decided to share one tiny secret with her; even though he shouldn't be in the business of giving away his secrets. "It's okay. I'm safe. I'm not going to tell anyone. We share the same secret."
It was Robin's turn to say, "Yeah?"
Steve smiled at her, "Oh yeah. I, too, love the ladies, Robin."
Robin giggle-screeched. "Dingus!"
Steve warmed at the pet name. "But I also like the dudes. And everything in between."
Robin's smile softened, "Thanks for telling me."
Steve waved his hand in the air. "Yeah, yeah. Are you actually going to do your job and train me?"
"And just when I was starting to like you. Welcome to hell then; I'll be your guide." Despite her words, Robin's tone held an ease that wasn't there earlier.
Steve knew she'd be tough to crack, but he knew it would be worth it.
--------------
It was weird; it was Robin who gave him the idea. When they first met, he thought she would have been the judgemental type. Well, he wasn't far off from that, but she was surprisingly morally loose when it came to illegal activity.
"You know that man would have done anything to get in your pants, right?" Robin nodded toward the guy who just left the bar to go sit back with his buddies. He was in his late forties, and pretty fit for his age. He had introduced himself as Clark; which either the dude had the world's most bland name, or he was using Clark Clent as a pseudonym to cover the fact he was flirting with a man when Mr. Clark was clearly married (at least the shiny gold band said so). Steve hadn't been interested, though. For one, he wasn't looking to get attached to anyone (although Robin was starting to make that look difficult). Secondly, Steve had learned the hard way that being a queer person, no matter the day in age, wasn't always safe.
Especially with married men.
"And so what, Buckley? I don't think I have anything to gain from a married man looking to bang some random bartender, who, by the way, he doesn't even know likes other men?" Steve throws his towel over his shoulder and turns towards Robin.
"But you are into men." Robin deadpans.
"Okay, true, but not the point. Hey, wait, how does he even know I like men?"
Robin shrugs, "Same way that I did, like seeks like my hairy friend. However, I suppose we aren't exactly the same. Since I am only interested in the ladies. Oh wait—does that make us more alike since we both like women, and you liking men makes us less alike? But that's gay, so that makes us—"
"Robin, you didn't even know. I had to tell you. After you yelled at me."
"Sorry!" She cringed.
Steve sighed, "Besides, still nothing to gain from sleeping with him. Besides, the dude's name is Clark."
Robin snorted, "That's rich coming from you, James."
Steve was not lost on the irony that he and Clark were both using fake names.
"I'm not exactly sure you're getting to an actual point Robs."
Robin put her hands in front of her as if she was surrendering. "Okay, hear me out. The dude clearly has money and really wants to sleep with you. Heck, a lot of people come in who want to sleep with you. Men, women, everything in between, and everything outside of it. These people want you, Steve, which I don't understand, but they do. These very rich people want to sleep with you. And you, a very poor bartender who frankly is terrible at his job, could use that to his advantage."
Steve just stared at her.
"You do get what I am saying, right?"
"Yes Robin, I get what you're saying. You want me to prostitute myself to our customers."
"I believe the proper term is sex workers; you can be offended by not offensive."
"Robin." Steve whisper yelled.
"Oh, c'mon! It isn't the worst idea. You like money, and you like sex. I'm not really seeing a downside. I mean, it's your body, so you get to do what you want with it. But I wouldn't judge you if it was this. I mean you don't have to sleep with them even! Swindle them for their money; I know you're a charmer. You might not even have to go as far as sex. I mean, unless you want to. Again, your body, my dude."
"Why do you even want me to do this? Shouldn't you want me to stay on a legal path? Be the voice of reason? Isn't that what this whole nerdy good girl thing you got going for?" Steve returned to the bar while he spoke and started preparing a drink. Although he was protesting and acting offended by the idea, it wasn't actually a terrible proposition. Steve had done worse for less, and he had a lot of respect for those in the industry. It was just, he didn't get why Robin was pushing it. It was Steve's instinct to be mistrustful. People didn't offer things to him, especially very illegal ones, unless they wanted to gain something or get something against him.
"No, I don't want to be your pimp. Can't a girl offer some life advice to her helpless coworker? Besides, I'd be a hypocrite if I told you not to earn money illegally. Considering my side-gigs." Robin walked around the bar to stand directly in front of Steve. She placed her elbows on the wood and her head in her hands. She looked sincere, and that's when it hit Steve.
"First off, we are coming back to the side-gig thing—"
"We most definitely are not." Robin quipped.
"Second, I think I get it now. You're worried about me. We're friends, and you're worried about me."
"Take it back."
"No, no. You, Robin Buckley, care about me."
Robin shuttered, "We are not friends, James. And I am not worried. I simply became too invested in your pathetic life; my apologies." She started to lean back from the bar but Steve put the drink down and caught her by her elbows.
"If you admit we're friends, and that you're worried about me, I'll think about your idea." Steve gave her elbows a light squeeze.
Robin caved instantaneously, "Fine, you dingus! We're friends. I care about you! Despite my best efforts, your stupid face and jokes are incredibly endearing, and you always cheer me up on bad days. And every day here is a bad day. And I'm worried about you because you look like you're going to run every five seconds, and every time it's a shitty tip night, you deep sigh. And dammit, you're the only person I like here, and if you go at this point, so do I."
Steve felt himself blink back tears. Robin, in all her rambling glory, had managed to give him one of the best speeches he's ever heard. Steve hadn't had anyone care about him like this in, well, ever. It was a welcomed devastation.
Steve tugged her into a bone-crushing hug. Their stomachs pressed against the bar, the wood digging into their hips. "I'm gonna do it."
"Yea? You really don't have to. We can figure something else out. I would teach you how to hack, but I don't think you'd be very good at it." Robin let out a wet laugh.
Steve let her go and shrugged. "Nah, it's a good idea. And honestly sounds like a bit of fun. Swindling the wealthy into giving to the poor. Well, giving to me. But I count as poor currently."
Robin smiled, "Only if you're sure, dingus."
"I am. Now—" Steve pushed the drink with a bar business card that he wrote his name and number on underneath. "—go take this to money bags over there."
Robin grabs the card and throws it at him. "You can't give your real name and number, dummy. For now, I'm gonna give him my side gig number until you can get your own. All we need is a name." She grabbed a new card and wrote down the digits.
Steve took the pen from her and looked around the bar for inspiration. He jotted down the first thing that came to mind. "Here ya go."
Robin looked down and choked on a laugh. "You can't be serious."
"Deadly."
Robin rolled her eyes one last time before picking up the drink. "We will think of a better one later. But I guess for now; I'll deliver this to your first client, Cherry."
Steve knew then, and there he and Robin were for life.
________
Boston, Massachusetts
It was at this moment Steve was trying to picture how Robin would react to how majorly he fucked up. Considering she had already warned him about the dangers of Tommy Hagan's friendship, Steve didn't have to think too hard. Robin had always been good at that, calling him on his bullshit before it even happened. Steve could hear her voice in his head saying,
This is what happens when you play with fire Dingus.
Steve wondered if he'd ever get to hear her voice in person again.
"What kind of deal?" Steve asked before throwing himself to the wolves. Though he was sure his life was on the line, he couldn't just say yes to whatever Eddie asked. He didn't want to die, but he also had to consider that there were people he cared about in this world. Steve wouldn't put them at risk, even if it meant his own well-being.
In retrospect, he should have reevaluated the list of people he cared about, considering one was the reason he was here in the first place.
Eddie leaned back against the booth, stretched his arms across the back of it, and let out a dark chuckle. "Well, for starters, I'm going to need that bag back. That's the easy part. Considering it's mine anyway. Although, it does seem a bit light there. Why is that sweetness?"
Steve could feel himself go pale. God, Tommy had fucked fucked him. He was starting to consider that it was even a setup. He didn't peg Hagan for being that smart, though. "It's only half. Tommy took the other half with him when I met up with him. I'm so supposed to keep the other half safe for a few weeks, then bring it to him."
Eddie raised his eyebrows, "Pretty forthcoming, aren't we? Thought I'd have to push a bit more to break ya. Now I'm not sure if I even want to offer you the rest of the deal. Don't particularly like working with snitches."
Steve tried not to let out a frustrated growl. Charm, he had to charm Eddie. He was making it hard for Steve. "I'm not a snitch; I just don't see the point in covering for someone who obviously fucked me."
Eddie put his hands up in mock surrender, "Woah there, sweetness. Didn't mean to touch a nerve. I'm only having a bit of fun. You'll let me have my fun, won't you? Considering you made me stop my hard work in the middle of the day to deal with you?" Although Eddie smiled as he spoke, Steve could tell he wasn't happy. Steve decided to be smart and stay silent. "Now tell me, where and when did you meet him? And when and where were you meeting up again?"
Steve gritted his teeth, "What's the rest of the deal?"
"What's that?" Eddie ticked his head to the side.
"I'm not going to tell you anything else if I don't know what I'm getting out of it or what I need to do to get to the finish line. So, What's the rest of the deal?"
"You're a clever one, aren't you? I'm not surprised, actually, considering the sort of bravery it takes to steal from me." Steve noted in his head that Eddie said bravery and not stupidity. He tucked it away for later. "Fine, considering you've been forthcoming so far, I'll be kind and lay all the cards on the table. On one condition."
Steve gave up on being charming. He knew it was getting him nowhere. "Deal for a deal? Seems a bit convoluted, don't ya think?"
"Ooo, bitchy and knows big words? Full of surprises. I promise you this one is an easy one. Should you choose the right path, no harm will come your way Padalin. Well, none that you don't ask for, at least." A wicked grin spread across Eddie's face.
"Get to the point."
"You know I'd have a man's head at this point for that kind of talk. Fortunately bitchy looks good on you. Anyway, the condition is this. Tell me your name, sweetness. I think it's rude that I gave you my name and I don't have yours."
"Well I didn't ask for yours and like you said earlier, I don't think introductions were necessary."
Eddie gave Steve an unamused eyebrow; his patience was wearing thin.
Steve was buying time, he wasn't sure what name to give him. He wasn't stupid; he couldn't exactly give him his real name. He couldn't just tell him, Steve. For one, he was in Boston. A slip of the first name means a slip of the last. And besides coming back to Boston in the first place, that would be the absolute dumbest thing he'd ever do if he were to let that slip. Steve was well aware the Harrington name hadn't grown kinder over the years.
The other reason was if he were to give him his real name, Eddie would suddenly have access to his entire life in an instant. His story, his crimes, his weaknesses. Steve was sure that Eddie had his very own Robin, although he doubted they were any good since Steve had the best, but even a raccoon with access to Google could find him.
So Steve had to think. What name could he give him? He thought about the hundreds of alias he had over the years. Some of them are more thought out than others. Like Mark Odom, who was a sales rep just down on his luck at the horse tracks and just needed a bit of insider information for a win. He had a family to feed, after all.
Or there was the ones with less background, like Cherry, who didn't even have a last name. He was just a good disguise for Steve when he wanted to swindle money out of higher-profile men.
Those aliases, no matter the depths of their stories, were too used, too frequented, too recent. They had a history that could be traced. Steve thought of possibly starting a whole new alias for Eddie. But those took time. A quick lie in the moment was easy, but Steve had a deep feeling nothing about his interactions with Eddie would be quick.
Eddie looked at him expectantly, waiting. It had only been a few seconds since Steve had last spoke, but between the two of them, it felt like hours. It felt as though Steve was losing the game and fast.
An idea sprung on Steve suddenly. An old name he used once. It was a name thrust upon him more like, but he had only used it once. He was sure Eddie would catch onto it being fake, but Steve hoped that the man's affinity for nicknames let it slide.
"Angel. The name is Angel."
"Angel." Eddie deadpanned. "Angel, what? No last name?"
"No last name." Steve shook his head.
Eddie rubbed a hand down his face, "That's what you're going with? You really expect me to believe that?"
"It's all you're gonna get."
Eddie stared at Steve momentarily before a playful smile edged at his lips. "Alright, I'll bite. Angel, it is, for now. Just don't expect the truth to stay hidden for long. You see, I always get my way in the end. Okay, Angel?" Eddie's eyes penetrated Steve's, and silence again hung in the air.
"Okay." Steve believed Eddie. He secretly hoped he wouldn't be around the man long enough to see how quickly he got his way.
"Good. Now here's the deal Angel." Eddie emphasized Steve's name in mockery. "You give me the half you have under the table. That's been established so far. Then you are going to help me get the rest of the money back and get me a little chat with your good pal Hagan."
Steve opened his mouth to protest the idea of him and Tommy being good pals, but shut it before he could make the situation for himself worse. Probably better for himself to not push his luck.
"That's the easy part," Eddie continued. He leaned forward, taking his arms off the back of the shredded booth, and used his hand to grip Steve's chin. The grip was firm but not painful as he pulled Steve forward. It was as if he was trying to prove a point, trying to prove that Eddie was the one in control, prove that he didn't want to hurt Steve, just put him in his place. "The hard part of the deal is this. You see, it's not easy to steal from me. And yet, here you are. You've made it much further than others have. And that is a skill not many possess. And right now, I could use that."
Steve visibly swallowed. He was trying not to let this man get to him. It felt impossible with Eddie's hand on him and their proximity. It had been so long since Steve had been this close to someone, so intimately, without the illusion of the game. Sure, there was an imminent threat over Steve's head, but he couldn't shut off the part of his brain that kind of liked it. Steve had to push away the desire to breathe in all that was Eddie. Steve decided to blame these uncontrollable thoughts on the fact he hadn't gotten laid since Seattle over a month ago.
Not because he felt attracted to the man who was actively threatening him. That would be insane.
"How do you suppose I do that?" Steve licked his lips and didn't break eye contact with Eddie.
"I have a list. A list of people who have wronged me. Who has stolen from me, in one form or another? Usually, I'd have them taken care of, but I don't think they deserve such an easy out. I think I need to make a statement. I think they should be given exactly what they've taken. They bit the hand that fed them after all." Eddie squeezed Steve's chin lightly. It once again caused no pain, but it grounded Steve. Sent a silent reminder of who was in control.
"Big believer in karma, then? Wouldn't have taken you for the type." Steve pushed out a weak laugh. Eddie stared at him a moment before releasing him, sitting back into his original position.
Eddie's lip tilted slightly, "Maybe I am. Do we have a deal?"
Steve snorted, "That's it? You're not going to tell me more? No reason why, no, what do I need to do? Kind of feels like I'm getting the shit end of the stick here."
In the corner of his eye, Steve saw one of Eddie's men move when he raised his voice. It made Steve stop abruptly, shrinking back into his seat. Eddie waved his henchman to stand down. "No, you don't get more. And beggers can't be choosers, can they?"
" 'Suppose not."
"Good boy. Now, do we have a deal?" Eddie stuck his hand out for Steve to shake.
Steve had to suppress his reaction once again. Eddie had to be testing him at this point. Good boy would be seared into his brain forever. A brand of how dangerous this man was to him.!Steve looked down at the rough, veiny hands. "On one condition."
Eddie barked out a laugh, "You know you really like pushing your luck, Angel. It's like you have a deathwish. You aren't exactly in the position to make demands, hasn't that been clear? You're lucky you are so goddamn interesting. So, once again, I'll bite."
"I get to veto someone, no questions asked, if I don't want to do it." Steve thought about how many enemies he had here in Boston. How many people he had no desire to run into? He needed to make sure most, if not all of them, never crossed paths with him again. Steve knew it was a long shot to ask of this. It defeated the whole purpose of helping Eddie if he was allowed to say no. They both knew this. And yet, Steve held out hope.
Eddie hummed to himself for a moment before answering. "You get one."
Steve whipped his head towards Eddie in shock. "What?"
"I'll give you one veto. No questions asked. But that's it. Once you use it, it's gone."
Steve knew when to not look a gift horse in the mouth. "Okay, deal." Steve stuck his hand out for Eddie to grab. Steve tried not to shutter when Eddie's warm hand engulfed his own. The smoothness of his rings and the callouses on his palms contradicted each other and send a delicious thrill down Steve's spine.
Yeah, Steve was fucked.
"Deal, Angel." Eddie slid out of the booth, and his men made to follow him. "Now, if I am correct, you're currently staying at the rundown motel on 3rd? Well, Ben here—" Eddie gestured to the eager henchman from earlier "—will follow you to the motel to collect your things. Then he's going to take you to the room I paid for you at the Palace Hotel. Where he, and a rotation of other people, will be standing guard outside your door 24/7."
"What? Don't trust me?" Steve tried to lighten the apparent tension.
"Oh, not in the slightest, Angel. Trust you just about as much as I can throw you." Eddie slid dark sunglasses on before walking up to the door. "Looking forward to chatting again. I think this will be a good thing for us both, sweetheart."
Eddie walked out without looking back, taking most of his men with him. Ben stayed behind, glaring daggers at Steve's head.
Steve couldn't help but feel a shift in the tide; he would be returning to this moment for the rest of his life. He knew there was no coming back from this, and even if there was, Robin would kill him anyway.
Steve looked down at his milkshake, it was fucking melted.
Alone || Picture to Burn
Previous
"So first I say something I've never done and if you have, you drink, and if you haven't, I drink. Then we switch" Beth explained the rules to Daryl.
She had quickly got bored of their silent drinking, convincing the adults to play a drinking game around the table.
"You really don't know this game?" Beth asked.
"I never needed a game to get lit before."
"Seriously?" Natalia asked.
"Wait, are we starting?" Beth thought Daryl's reply was the start of never have I ever.
"How do you know this game?" He pointed at the blonde.
"My friends played. I watched. How do you know this game?" She asked Natalia.
"I was a teenage girl once."
"Okay. I'll start." Beth decided, she thought about it for a little bit. "I've never shot a crossbow. So now you drink."
Natalia didn't drink.
"Aint much of a game." Daryl said, picking up his drink and taking a sip.
"That was a warm up, now you go." Beth nodded at Daryl.
"I don't know."
"Just say the first thing that pops into your head."
"You don't have to think that hard about it." Natalia told him.
"I've never been out of Georgia."
Natalia drunk.
"Really? Okay, good one." Beth then took a sip. "Okay, Nat, your turn."
Natalia clapped her hands together as she thought.
"Uhm... I've never lived on a farm." She shrugged, knowing this was something both of them did, even if it did end badly.
Beth and Daryl both drank, then it was Beth's turn again.
"I've never... been drunk and did something I regretted."
Both Daryl and Natalia drunk
"I've done a lot of things." Daryl said.
"What did you do?" Beth asked Natalia.
"Well, incredibly embarrassing, I flashed a house party when I was 17, at the exact moment the cops decided to shut it down, as I was stood on the table with bra in hand... not my proudest moment."
"Did you get in trouble?" Beth asked, looking at her with wide eyes.
"Daryl, its your turn." Natalia turned to the redneck.
"I've never been on vacation."
"What about camping?" Beth asked.
"No, that was just something I had to learn... to hunt."
"Your dad teach you?"
"Mhm."
"Okay." Beth shrugged as the two women drank. "Nat."
"Eurgh, uhm. I don't know, I've never rode a bike."
"Do you know how?" Beth asked.
"Nope, my dad died before he could teach me, so I never learned... my stepdad tried once but I kinda hated him as a kid."
"Why?"
"Cause my dad was dead and this random guy had moved into my house, also I was six. Once I grew up, he was cool." Natalia shrugged. "I was a total raging bitch to him, he was better than my moms other boyfriends, though.
"Did you have any siblings?" She then went on, Natalia kinda wished she'd just get on with her turn.
"No. I was enough for her, apparently too much." She scoffed.
Beth nodded, as her and Daryl drank. "I've never been in jail. I mean, as a prisoner."
Natalia could sense the change in Daryl's demeaner, but Beth hadn't seemed to clock on when she let out a short laugh.
"Is that what you think of me?" Daryl asked her.
"I didn't mean anything serious. I just thought, you know, like the drunk tank. Nat didn't you?"
"No, they took me home." She shook her head, picking at her fingers as the awkward tension surfaced.
"Even my dad got locked up for it back in the day." Beth tried playing her question off.
"Drink up." Daryl told her.
"Wait. Prison guard. Were you a prison guard before?"
Natalia rubbed her brow, wishing the girl would admit defeat.
Daryl stared at her before answering.
"No."
"It's your turn again."
Daryl tapped the table, standing up.
"I'm gonna take a piss." He decided walking across the room, dropping his glass down on the floor and letting it smash.
"You have to be quiet." Beth reminded, her nerves picking up at the worry of walkers.
"Can't hear ya! I'm taking a piss!" Daryl raised his voice.
"Daryl, don't talk so loud." Beth continued.
"Beth, stop." Natalia tried to warn, keeping her voice low.
"What, are you my chaperone now?" He looked over his shoulder.
He zipped his pants up, turning around.
"Oh wait. It's my turn, right?" He asked rhetorically. "I've never, uh..."
"Daryl, just stop." Natalia told the man with a sigh, but he ignored her.
"I've never eaten frozen yogurt. Never had a pet pony. Never got nothing from Santa Claus." He smacked a chair. "Never relied on anyone for protection before. Hell, I don't think I've ever relied on anyone for anything."
"Daryl."
"Never sung out in front of a big group out in public like everything was fun. Like everything was a big game. I sure as hell never cut my wrists looking for attention." He sneered.
Natalia whipped her head to look at the pair, Beth looked humiliated that he said that.
"Daryl, you made your point." Natalia stood up. "Shut up."
The walker that was outside started snarling loudly, banging on the door.
"Oh, sounds like our friend out there is trying to call all of his buddies."
"Daryl, just shut up." Beth hissed.
He grabbed his crossbow from the hook it was hanging from, pointing at Beth.
"Hey, you never shot a crossbow before? I'm gonna teach you right now."
He grabbed her wrist, pulling her up and kicking the door open.
"We should stay inside. Daryl, cut it out!" Beth tried to wiggle out of his grip. "Daryl!"
Natalia rushed after them, wishing they never played the stupid game.
"Dumbass. Come here dumbass." Daryl called to the walker, shooting an arrow into the walkers shoulder, pinning him to a piece of wood.
"Daryl."
"You want to shoot?"
"I- I don't know how" Beth's voice was shaky.
"Oh, it's easy. Come here. Right corner." He grabbed Beth, pretending to teach her how to use it as he shot another arrow.
She pushed him off of her.
"Let's practise later."
"Daryl, leave her alone." Natalia told him.
"Come on, it's fun. You're the one who keeps saying she needs to learn to take care of herself."
"Just stop it. Daryl." Beth cried out, as he reloaded.
"Come here." He pulled her towards him again, demonstrating as he shot it in the leg. "8 Ball."
"Just kill it!"
"Come here, Greene. Let's pull these out. Get a little more target practise." He walked towards the walker, but Natalia stopped him, running in front and plunging her knife in its head.
"What the hell you do that for, we was having fun!" He shouted at her.
"You're being an asshole, stop." She pressed a hand to his shoulder, pushing him away.
"You were being a jackass!" Beth took over. "If anyone found my dad."
"Don't." Daryl turned on her. "That ain't remotely the same."
"Killing them is not supposed to be fun.”
"What do you want from me, girl, huh?"
Natalia walked away, staying towards the door of the house, keeping a lookout whilst they got whatever pent up frustration and anger about Hershel off their chest's, but she could still hear them loud and clear.
"I want you to stop acting like you don't give a crap about anything. Like nothing we went through matters. Like none of the people we lost meant anything to you. It's bullshit!" She screamed.
"Is that what you think?"
"That's what I know."
"You don't know nothing."
"I know you look at me and you just see another dead girl, so does Nat, cause I'm not her. I'm not Michonne. I'm not Carol. I'm not Maggie. I've survived and you don't get it 'cause I'm not like you or them. But I made it, and you don't get to treat me like crap just because you're afraid."
"I ain't afraid of nothing." Daryl denied.
"I remember. When that little girl came out of the barn after my mom. You were like me."
Natalia was trying to piece together what Beth was saying, she must've been talking about Sophia.
"And now God forbid you ever let anybody get too close."
"Too close, huh? You know all about that. You lost two boyfriends, you can't even shed a tear. Your whole family's gone, all you can do is just go out looking for hooch like some dumb college bitch." Daryl raised his voice again.
"Screw you. You don't get it."
"No, you don't get it! Everyone we know Is dead!"
"You don't know that!"
"Might as well be, 'cause you aint never gonna see 'em again. Rick. You ain't never gonna see Maggie again."
"Daryl, just stop."
"No! The Governor rolled right up to our gates. Maybe if I wouldn't have stopped looking. Maybe cause I gave up. That's on me."
"Daryl." Beth tried to argue.
"No." His voice broke. "And your dad. Maybe... Maybe I could have done something."
The arguing had stopped.
Natalia leant against the wood, letting what he had confessed sink in.
It was night time, the three sat on the porch, peacefully in silence, Beth had brought a jar of moonshine, taking small sips now and again.
"We should start a club." Beth sighed.
"What sorta club?" Natalia asked her.
"The dead boyfriend club." Beth said, earning a snort out of the woman. "No offence, Daryl, but you don't qualify to join."
He looked at her, not saying anything.
"Alright Greene, I'll join your club." Natalia offered her hand to shake, which Beth shook. "The dead boyfriend club."
"I get why my dad stopped drinking." Beth admitted.
"You feel sick?" Daryl asked in a quiet voice.
"Nope."
"Be glad if you don't have a hangover in the morning, they suck." Natalia told her.
"I wish I could feel like this all the time." Beth confessed. "That's bad."
"Hmm. You're lucky your a happy drunk."
"Yeah I'm lucky. Some people can be real jerks when they drink."
"Yeah. I'm a dick when I'm drunk."
"Understatement of the year." Natalia commented.
"Merle had this dealer." Daryl started, after another moment of silence. "This janky little white guy. A tweaker. One day we were over at his house watching TV. Wasn't even noon yet and we were all wasted. Merle was high. We were watching this show and Merle was talking all this dumb stuff about it. And he wouldn't let up. Merle never could. Turns out it was the tweakers kids favourite show. And he never sees his kids, so, he felt guilty about it or something."
Natalia started picking at her fingers as he talked.
"So he punches Merle in the face. So I started hitting the tweaker, like, hard. As hard as I can. Then he pulls a gun, sticks it right here." He pointed his finger at his temple. "He says, "I'm gonna kill you, bitch." So Merle pulls his gun on him. Everyone's yelling. I'm yelling. I thought I was dead. Over a dumb cartoon about a talking dog."
"How'd you get out of it?" Beth asked.
"The tweaker punched me in the gut. I puked. They both started laughing and forgot all about it." He finished his story. "You wanna know what I was before all this? I was just drifting around with Merle, doing whatever he said we were gonna be doing that day. I was nobody. Nothing. Some redneck asshole, and an even bigger asshole for a brother."
"You miss him, don't you?"
Natalia remembered that day, when her and Daryl found him, how she held him as he cried, then they got up and went back to the prison, never speaking about it again.
"I miss Maggie. I miss her bossing me around. I miss my big brother Shawn. He was so annoying and overprotective. And my dad. I thought, I hoped he just live the rest of his life in peace, you know? I thought Maggie and Glenn would have a baby. And he'd get to be a grandpa. And we'd have birthdays and holidays and summer picnics. And he'd get really old. And it'd happen, but it'd be quiet. it'd be okay." He'd be surrounded by people he loved." She laughed for a little bit, looking away from the other two. "That's how unbelievably stupid I am." She choked up, taking a swig of moonshine.
"You're not stupid." Natalia shook her head.
"That's how it was supposed to be." Daryl added.
"I wish I could just, change."
"You did."
"Not enough."
"Not like you. Either of you. It's like, you were made for how things are now."
"I changed cause I lost the most precious thing in my life, I had to, cause who I was before, that wasn't enough, then a lot of bad shit happened in those 5 months I was by myself, I was forced into it." Natalia sighed. "Doesn't mean it was necessarily all for good."
"And, I'm just used to it, things being ugly." Daryl said. "Growing up in a place like this."
"Well, you got away from it." Beth tried to have a positive outlook.
"I didn't" Daryl denied.
"You did."
"Maybe you got to keep reminding me sometimes."
"No. You can't depend on anybody for anything, right?" Beth reminded. "I'll be gone someday."
"Stop."
"Don't say that." Natalia looked at her.
"I will."
"You're gonna be the last man standing, and the last woman." Daryl stared at her, whilst Natalia shook her head. "You are. You're both gonna miss me so bad when I'm gone, Daryl Dixon and Natalia Moore."
"You ain't a happy drunk at all.”
"Yeah, I'm happy. I'm just not blind."
"Must be good moonshine, then." Natalia joked.
"You gotta stay who you are, not who you were. Places like this, you have to put it away."
"What if you can't?”
"You have to." Beth finalised. "Or it kills you." She pointed at her heart. "Here."
"We should go inside." Daryl decided.
"We should burn it down."
"Beth." Natalia went to disagree, but stopped herself.
Daryl stood up, grabbing the jar of moonshine.
"We're gonna need more booze." Daryl said, heading back inside.
Beth followed, then Natalia got up, trailing along.
The three undid the tops of the moonshine, splashing it across the place, covering the cabin in the liquid.
Natalia picked up the gun, putting it back around her shoulders, tying the crewneck jumper she picked up from the country club, around her waist, then continued.
They then continued to pour the last few jars on the porch, throwing the jars and letting them smash into thousands of pieces.
Daryl dug through his bag, picking up a box of matches and handing it to the teen.
"You wanna?" He asked her.
"Hell yeah." She grinned, taking the box and lighting a match.
He held out a wad of cash, letting her light it on fire, then he threw it at the cabin.
The three watched in victory as flames licked up the wood.
They then walked further away, knowing it was going to attract walkers, but stalled for a moment, continuing to gaze at the flames.
Beth smiled triumphantly, flipping the cabin off, then nudged the two next to her, gesturing for them to copy, which they did.
Natalia noticed the undead start to arrive.
"Gotta go." She muttered, turning back around and heading through the woods, Beth, pushed forward by Daryl, followed, him right behind her.
When the sky was blue, once again, Daryl decided to teach Beth how to use his crossbow properly, as well, how to track.
Natalia had enough lessons from the man about tracking, that she could handle, everything was a lesson if he was bored enough.
"Are we close?" Beth asked.
"Almost done." Daryl said in a low voice.
"How do you know?"
"The signs are all there." He explained. "Just got to know how to read 'em."
Beth lowered the crossbow, continuing the walk.
"What are we tracking?" She asked.
"You tell me." Beth turned around to look at him pointedly. "You're the one who wanted to learn."
"Use your surroundings, look at the clues oh young one." Natalia said in a deep wise voice, gesturing her arms around theatrically.
"I am." She glared at the woman, but turned to look at the ground. "Well, something came through here. The pattern is all zig-zaggy. It's a walker." Beth smiled.
"Maybe its a drunk." Daryl scratched his beard.
"I'm getting good at this." She ignored him. "Pretty soon I won't need you at all."
"Yeah, keep on tracking." He dismissed.
"Don't worry, I'll always need you." Natalia nudged him, teasingly. "Who else will skin animals for me, cause it's too gross."
"Whatever." He elbowed her back.
The three found Beth's walker, it was on its knees, eating something.
"It's got a gun." Beth pointed out, she raised the crossbow, aiming it at the walker as she inched closer.
Natalia pulled out a knife, just in case she needed to get involved, not like she didn't have faith in the girl, but you couldn't be too careful these days.
Beth continued to walk towards the walker, until something clanged, causing the girl to fall over just behind the feasting walker, catching his attention.
She managed to shoot the crossbow as he stood up, but it only flew into its cheek, not managing to do the job.
The two adults ran forward, Daryl yanked the crossbow out of the teenagers grasp, knocking the walker over the head with it as Natalia ran to Beth's aid, she managed to get her foot stuck in a foothold trap.
She tried to figure out what to do, but didn't have a clue to help the girl.
"Daryl." She called to him, who quickly turned around and dropped to the floor to help.
He undid the trap smoothly, pulling it off of Beth.
"Can you move it?" He asked as she tried to roll her ankle around.
"Yeah." Beth hesitated.
"We should wrap it, but we don't have anything, shit." Natalia cursed under her breath.
"Come on. We'll find a place." Daryl decided standing up and helping Beth.
He wrapped a hand around her side as she put an arm around his shoulders, so he could support her, Natalia took the lead, her knife in hand and keeping an eye out for walkers or shelter.
They left the woods, getting to a graveyard.
"Can we " Beth stilled. "Can we hold up a sec?"
Natalia turned around to see what was going on.
"You alright?" Daryl asked her.
"I just need to sit down." Beth clarified.
Daryl tapped Natalia with his crossbow, gesturing for her to take it, which she did.
"Alright. Hold up." He said, before kneeling down in front of Beth his back to her. "Hop on."
"Are you serious?" Beth asked him.
"Yeah. This is a serious piggyback. Jump up." He told her.
Beth did as she was told, hopping onto his back so that he could carry her the rest of the way.
"You're heavier than you look." He mused. As the two continued to walk.
"Maybe there are people there."
"Yeah, if there are, I'll handle them."
"Or I'll kill them." Natalia shrugged.
"There are still good people, y'know."
"I don't think the good ones survive." Daryl thought out loud.
"Or they live long enough to grow out of it." Natalia added.
They walked past the graves, before Beth jumped down from Daryl's back, stopping in front of one headstone in particular.
Daryl took a step back, bending down to pull at some flowers, before moving towards the headstone and laying them on top.
The headstone was dedicated to a beloving father.
Beth reached out, lacing her fingers with each person who was stood by her side, as they took a moment of silence for the man who was brutally lost.
Eventually, they got their barings and carried on, Beth had hopped back on to Daryl's back.
Natalia reached the door of the tall white house first, pushing it open and banging hard on the wall.
Nothing stirred in the house.
Daryl stepped forward, letting out a sharp whistle.
"Give it a minute." He said.
They entered the quiet house, not seeing signs of anything, but it was remarkably clean and well kept.
"Its so clean." Beth spoke Natalia's thoughts out loud.
"Yeah. Someone's been tending to it." Daryl said, as he looked around, still. "May still be around."
He walked into one room, the other two followed.
It was set up like a funeral, chairs sat In lines, facing an open casket, a body sat inside.
"Not creepy at all." Natalia commented.
Daryl ran his fingers across the mans face, his skin was mushy, and moved with his touch.
They left the room, exploring the house more and found a staircase that went down.
Another room contained dead bodies in suits, but it looked like a work lab.
Daryl went through the cupboards.
"Lets get that ankle wrapped." He told Beth, finding what he needed.
Beth and Natalia were too busy staring at the bodies.
"Looks like somebody ran out of dolls to dress up." Daryl said.
"It's beautiful." Beth corrected.
"It's making my bones itchy." Natalia shivered.
"Whoever did this cared. They wanted these people to get a funeral. They remembered these things were people before all this. They didn't let it change them in the end. Don't you think that's beautiful." Beth asked.
"I don't like to think about it too much." Natalia dismissed, walking back upstairs.
Natalia found the kitchen, rifling through the cupboards, when Daryl and Beth finally made it back upstairs.
"You find anything?" Beth asked.
"Yeah, but I don't know if it's much good, or just proving that whoever lives here is a psychopath." Natalia replied, showing off the full cupboard of; Pigs feet, Peanut butter and Jelly, diet soda.
"That's a white trash brunch right there." Daryl took a jar of Peanut butter.
"It all looks good to me."
"No, hold up." Daryl paused. "Ain't a spec of dust on this.”
"So?"
"That means somebody just put it here."
"And they couldn't of got better stuff?" Natalia asked. "I'm allergic to peanuts."
"Nah, this is someone's stash. Maybe they're still alive." Daryl explained. "Alright, we'll take some of it and we'll leave the rest, all right?"
Beth put a can down, before smiling at Daryl. "I knew it."
"Knew what?" Daryl asked her.
"It's like I said. There are still good people."
Daryl undid a jar of jelly, dipping his fingers in before pouring it into his mouth.
"Gross." Beth moved away, undoing a jar of peanut butter.
"Hey, those pigs feet are mine." Daryl claimed.
"And I'll have... diet soda." Natalia sighed, taking down a bottle.
"Are you seriously allergic to peanuts?" Beth asked, making sure to keep the jar far away, and not contaminate any area's.
"Deadly serious." Natalia blinked. "It's genetic, my dad was too."
"Was your kid allergic?" She asked.
"I'm gonna set up some cans outside, make sure we'll know if anyone comes by." Natalia walked out the room, dodging her question.
Natalia was tying a string full of cans to the banister of the porch, when Daryl stepped outside.
"Hey." He announced his presence.
"I'm almost done." She told him.
"Came to check you were alright."
"Fine." Natalia replied, pushing hair out of her face.
"If she upset you, she didn't mean to."
"No, no, she's good, I'm fine, honest."
"Alright." Daryl, picked at his fingers, finally deciding to come clean after nearly seven months.
"Are you alright?" Natalia asked, finished with her job and wondering why he was still hovering.
"Yeah, I got something for you."
"If it's peanut butter, I wasn't kidding." She pointed at him.
"Nah, but it reminded me of something." He chewed on his thumbnail. "Been holding onto something for a while."
"Uhm, okay?" Natalia said, nervous about where this was going.
Daryl searched one of his pockets, pulling out something.
"Y'know when Judith was born, and we went to that place to get her formula."
"Yeah " The place where she confessed to Daryl about her past.
He shuffled around before deciding to slap the picture in her hand, waiting for a reaction.
Natalia could read the words on the back, preparing herself to turn it around.
"Why do you have this?" Natalia asked, her voice was small and meek.
"Found it in that kitchen." He confessed.
"But why do you have it?" She repeated her question.
"I thought maybe you'd want it or something."
"You've had this for seven months, why are you only now giving it to me?"
"I was planning on it ages ago, but then after everything, I forgot."
"But its been in your pocket this whole time." She stared at the picture, her finger running over it. "You had no right to have this"
Daryl was thrown off by this.
"Huh?"
"Daryl, there's a reason I didn't take it." She looked at him through her lashes. "I can't believe you."
"I thought you'd want it to remember her."
"You thought wrong. What? You expected me to want to remember that she's been dead for 15 months, that she suffered and was ripped apart by her own father cause I was stupid enough to pick fault in the middle of shit? That she cried and my mind chose to blank it out, cause my mother told me "Don't go to her every time she cries, she'll just get clingy, like I was." I'll never get her back, I'll never forget that night or how, how-" Her voice cracked, she couldn't finish her sentence. "I can't look at this without imagining what she looked like when she..."
"Nat " Daryl went to touch her, but stopped himself.
"I'm sorry." She covered her face, wiping at her eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."
"S'fine." He shook his head, looking anywhere but at her.
Natalia took a few deep breaths, trying to compose herself.
"Have you still got those matchsticks?" She asked.
"Why?"
"I never let myself mourn her, and I want to burn the picture, as, like, a last send off or something, I don't know, it's stupid."
"Mhmm nah, it ain't stupid" he disagreed, digging around in his pockets for the box of match sticks, handing it to her.
"You can go inside, thank you though, and sorry." She said, climbing over the string of cans to sit on the steps.
Daryl stepped over as well, joining her.
"You were there for me, when Merle... so I'm here for you." He looked at her.
"Okay, whatever." She brushed off, setting the picture down on the ground.
Her hands shook as she pulled a matchstick out, flicking it against the rough side of the box, before hovering it over the corner of the picture and watching it catch the flame and begin to fold from the heat.
Natalia then dug through on of the pockets in her cargos, bringing out a box of cigarettes, placing one between her lips and offering one to Daryl, who took one, before using the still lit matchstick to light his then hers.
"To Winnie." She sighed, inhaling the smoke.
The two sat out there and smoked, whilst watching the photograph of Natalia's past disintegrate, much like the cabin in the woods for Daryl.
Daryl tensed up when the woman leaned her head on his arm, linking hers through his elbow, but refused to let himself think much of it.
#22 or #23 for anarcia ??
22: "They won't take you away from me ever again"
23: "You need to keep your eyes open a little longer"
Uhh this turned out a little darker than I planned but nonetheless, I hope you enjoy! Bringing back the boxer AU for this one! (which wow writing this reminded me how much I missed writing them so if y'all have requests for this AU... my asks and dms are open)
TW: cops, violence
Marcia paced back and forth in the lobby of the police station, tugging nervously at her long blonde locks as she glanced at the door for what seemed like the millionth time. She knew what Anetra did was dangerous, of course. Fighting was dangerous at the best of times, let alone when all of the safety precautions were stripped away.
Marcia was always nervous when Anetra agreed to unregulated fights. She understood why - to some extent at least. The prize money for the underground fights was a lot higher, more than enough to cover their monthly expenses with just one or two wins. She didn’t understand the adrenaline rush quite as much. After all, it wasn’t exciting for Marcia, it was just scary. Without rules, all sportsmanlike conduct flew out the window. As well as all legality. As if the fear of Anetra getting beaten to a pulp wasn’t enough, they had to worry about police raids too.
Marcia didn’t know what sort of bad luck was in the air that day, but one of the opponents had lost a few fights to Anetra before and wanted vengeance. And Anetra was a good fighter, she could hold her own against the best of them, but not when brass knuckles entered the picture. And at some point between Anetra going down and Marcia desperately shoving her way through the crowd to reach her girlfriend, the cops descended to arrest everyone involved in the fighting ring.
Which was how Marcia found herself here, nervously waiting for Anetra to be released. Marcia hadn’t been held long when it became clear that she wasn’t betting or fighting. Anetra, on the other hand, had been in the ring when the police raid happened, so despite Marcia’s pleas to let Anetra out so she could get medical attention, Marcia had been waiting nearly 6 hours for her girlfriend to be released.
She jolted out of her thoughts when she heard the buzzer that announced the door opening, looking up to see a familiar mop of dyed blonde hair. She ignored the cop's gripes of protest as she barreled past them all to throw her arms around her girlfriend, burying her face in the crook of her neck, the tears finally spilling over, the emotions of the day all hitting her at once.
As soon as the cop closest had unlocked the cuffs, Anetras strong arms wrapped back around her girlfriend. As shaken as the girl was by the whole situation, her gut instinct was to play the strong one, to be brave so Marcia wouldn’t have to be.
“C’mon, angel. They said I’m free to go home. And I really want to go to bed…” She sighed, placing a small kiss on Marcia’s hair, heart breaking slightly at how much her girlfriend was shaking in her arms.
“I thought… I thought they were gonna keep you. I thought I wasn’t gonna get to see you again… They won’t take you away from me ever again. I won't let them” Her voice was muffled since she refused to move her face from where it was buried in Anetra’s neck.
“I know, my love. I know. I’m here now. I’m safe…”
Marcia finally looked up at that, eyes red and puffy “No you aren’t. You’re hurt and they took you away before I could check on you. Your face is all sliced up and none of it has been cleaned, plus you went down so hard, you might have a concussion…” She sniffled, hand reaching up to brush ever so gently at the injuries decorating her girlfriend's face, frown deepening at the soft hiss Anetra involuntarily let out.
“Marsh, I’m fine, I promise. Just some cuts. You can clean them for me when we get home, okay? Whats another 15 minutes? Plus, I'm exhausted, I just want to nap for a bit, this has all been incredibly draining.”
Marcia’s frown only deepened at that and her grip around Anetra tightened “I am getting you all cleaned and bandaged the second we get home. But no sleeping yet. You need to keep your eyes open a little longer. You know how risky concussions are babe. I’ve given you a million lectures on this…”
Anetra rolled her eyes but a small fond smile on her lips revealed that she wasn’t actually annoyed “Okay, okay. You’re the boss, babe. Let’s go…”
i really appreciate you holding on for the wild ride, it ended up being much more of a word vomit than i anticipated 😅 this is also gonna be long to explain it all but:
okay so my OC, calrik, is from an original fantasy fiction work i have tentatively called ‘homeward bound’; it’s been a passion project for like idk 10+ years and the characters in it are like the original 4 OCs for me lol. he (funnily enough) resembles laios physically (blonde, 6’4, a guard so Fit, brown eyes) but also has freckles and is a wolf shapeshifter (simply put, but it’s more complicated than that) (which is probably that’s why I love laios, your honor). premise of that WIP’s world is an empress (ilantha) of celestial blood and her three closest and highest ranked guards (saelihn, merric, and calrik) (none of which start out in those positions except the empress) up being divinely intertwined in changing the course of the empires’ history. fated love, fated loss, coronations and galas and sneaking away to not get caught, fae and wolf shapeshifters, personified celestial bodies and primordial / ancient spirits, heinous war crimes, children with trauma responsible for way too much, not a parent in sight lmfao. that being said, the kidnapping was happening from the Big Baddie™️ in that world and calrik busted in.
with the SW AU, it’s an AU of my own work (lmfao). calrik is an inquisitor, brother to merric (supreme leader); sae is a force sensitive rebel (not proper Jedi) and tasked with transporting / protecting ilantha (actual Jedi, Princess of Alderaan). the girls get captured, put on star killer base, and interrogated by the guys. of course they pair bc where else would the enemies to lovers come in. cal interrogates sae, and she’s restrained. since sabers turn on, they have an activation mechanism hums. so while he’s interrogating her, choking her, calling her pet and telling her to speak up, he traces the humming, vibrating end of the saber—while ignited—along her body until its against her thrumming cunt. hence: a lightsaber vibrator as means of an interrogation method.
now Laios…… holy shit yeah. that’s exactly what im thinking about!!!! an aphrodisiac that the longer the body doesn’t register you’re breeding (aka using it), the worse it gets. teaching him how to touch you, and he ends up being exactly the touch you’ve always imagined having. its so innocently perfect, and before he’s even had his turn, a glob of cum has stained his pants. he’s panting, pupils swollen; at one point you have to remind him to take the armor off because he’s so into you, enraptured. now imagine you’re the monster that hit him with the pollen……………….. like a fae dryad or somethin………. holy shit yeah.
thank you for indulging me 🙂↕️ im so sorry this is a damn novel lol
putting this under the cut since i rambled A LOT!
sav what the FUCK that world you’ve built sounds so incredible and well thought out; i LOVE fantasy but it’s daunting to write/create fantastical worlds because there are so many elements you must consider and balance. effective world building is a feat—and you have so many interesting characters that you’ve also created to boot! i’m obsessed with how similar cal is to laios ooohuuhgghhhhhh i will lose my mind (go insanely horny) over him.
AND THE STAR WARS AU???????? okay first of all: brilliant, show-stopping, incredible. putting your own ocs from an original story into a pre-existing fictional universe is so big brained of you i don’t even know what to say. and enemies to lovers…my favorite flavor, truly. can i just say i wanna be in sae’s place because oh my god? i’m seeing the vibrating lightsaber vision and i want to experience it so desperately it’s not even funny.
finally LAIOS, MY LOVE! i have a bit of a reputation on my blog for being a virgin killer because there’s nothing more sexy and delicious to me than teaching someone inexperienced how to touch you; molding their concept of sexuality, exploring their interests, and leaving a lasting impression on them (even if you don’t stay together because they will never, never forget their first). and laios is the perfect virgin in my mind because he’s eager to please and he’s utterly shameless. he will lick your armpits and spit on your clit and suck on your tongue without a second thought because it feels and tastes so good; he has a one-track mind and it makes sex with him almost a religious experience. the sex pollen trope on top of that makes him feral for you…i don’t even know what to say about the idea of you being the monster—like…UGH. he gives you a run for your money!
anyway thank you for sharing with me; i’m kissing you and your gorgeous brain <3
Update: I wound up sitting on the couch with @meyerlansky while they caught up, so I've now seen episodes 2.04–2.08 and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE
it was extremely funny watching this with someone who has like, deep lore. the book lore. and then there’s me like “what’s this person’s name and how are they related to everyone else”
so here are some Updated uninformed outsider opinions, based on four episodes at the end and my incredibly vague prior impressions:
to this guard man who’s following alicent around: I don’t care how brown your big cow eyes are, you’re a little bitch and I hope your dick never gets wet again. fuck you
rhaenyra has other children right? cause her main one… kinda sucks? this instagram boy blue-steeling all over the place is kind of getting on my nerves
conversations during hotd: “are they fucking?” “yes.” “are they related?” “yes.”
OHHHH I did NOT realize that Uncle Matt Smith is the undefeated winner in Westeros’s Dampest Wettest Man Contest
the gifsets do not do rhaeynrera justice because HOT VOICE TOO UNFAIRRRRR
I’m very happy for her and her new gal pal, I hope they enjoy plenty of scissoring. perhaps a little strange that she was like "so here's my rape as backstory" and rhaenyra was like "hell yeah, let's make out RIGHT now" but I'm happy for them nonetheless
pleased to know that the hot gilf who died just before I tuned in ALSO had a hot man. his beautiful bastard children are also extremely beautiful. tho I question why he has bastard children if he had hot gilf like why would you ever?? unless he and hot gilf had a late-in-life romance, in which case good for them and these are bastards from a previous era. or. well. wait ARE the beautiful bastard children the bastards of hot gilf? considering one of them is on a dragon now and all? I didn’t actually ask about the family tree situation here, I was busy watching The Beautiful Man get chased around by a dragon that wants to be his best friend
I’m predisposed to like Weird Scottish Lady because I saw her in a production of Hamlet years ago and she was incredible as Ophelia, which reminded me to get Cabaret tickets before she leaves in like a month
also I love Freddie Fox. he’s such a delight in everything I’ve ever seen him in. which ALSO includes hamlet, but a totally different production than above. he is so cunty all the time and I love him
oh I fucking STAN that twelve-year-old who just ran rINGS around everyone and pulled the biggest power-move in the history of all these adults in westeros. child, you are GOING PLACES
sdjfkhgskfjdh blue-steel child dropping I HAVE DARK HAIR, BLOND HAIR IS RECESSIVE, I’M BASTARD, like damn that took sean bean all season to figure out
OHHHH GRANDMA WARCRIMES IS BIIIIIIIIIG!!!!
“antlered human-shape clip-clopping” I fucking love subtitles wtf
I think maybe it sucks that they’re killing all the dragons. I know the point of this show is “this stuff happened and all the dragons died” and I know that there’s a thread of environmentalism throughout GRRM’s work but I just think, what if you didn’t hurt the dragons
I got really confused when haelena mentioned being queen cause I was like "now hold up. that's not how monarchies work. because if aemond's aegon's king and they're siblings, that Does Not Make Her queen" and kara was like "no they're also married" and SOMEHOW I DIDN'T OSMOSIS THAT PLOT POINT AT ALL?
kara: do you want a correction on this post. aegon's king me: GODDAMMIT. WHY DO THEY HAVE THE SAME NAME. I CAN NEVER REMEMBER me: okay. here's my mnemonic. the one who's like >:3 is aeGON because he would Gone Girl someone kara: wrong! that's aemond me: GODDAMMIT!!!!!
I liked freddie fox being like "hello I'm here to be cunty and kill you" and cow-eyes was like "go ahead. life sucks. I'm suicidal." and watching freddie fox just cuntily be like "uuugghhh I don't caaare about your feeeelings but now there's no joy in killing you, this is so awkward and uncomfortable ugh"
I’m a little bit concerned about this child running around on the moors trying to horsegirl a feral dragon, but I think it’ll probably be alright because I’m genre savvy about how horsegirl books work
I just don’t understand why this elder brunette child looks like this in every scene 😗
THE NON-DRAGON BEAUTIFUL BASTARD SON WINS THE MONOLOGUE AWARD!!!!
perhaps I would feel differently if I hadn’t just… plopped down to watch a handful of episodes at the end, but that did kinda feel more penultimate than finale? I thought there were gonna be more dragons going pew pew at each other in the sky. I thought "dragons going pew pew" was like, their whole deal
anyway, I’ve seen Exactly Four Episodes of the show, I know marginally more names now kind of, I still have a very loose grasp of this ouroboros family tree, but it does not matter. because there were dragons.
I tried to summarize what I've osmosis'd about house of the dragon purely from my dash & my partner and decided to post it
caveat: I am horrible with names and I did not fact-check the spelling of a n y o n e ' s name
so. first of all. lesbians.
there’s Alicent who is “a repressed lesbian who’s never had an orgasm in her life” (quoth @meyerlansky). I don’t think she knows this about herself, but it’s true. there’s also Rhaneyra who is Extremely Hot and bisexual. (this I know to be factual!! I saw the kissing gifs with that other woman!! I saw them!!) anyway, Alicent and R had an adorable childhood first-love situation that they didn’t realize was them being in love but They Were In Love. then it all went to fuck, because Alicent had to marry Rhenyra’s… father? stepfather? some crusty old relation of hers? and this was bad for them, because Alicent is a lesbian and was also STILL TINY, so marrying your bff/love-of-your-life’s crusty old man relation is Not A Good Time For Either Of You
Rhaenyra—I’m just gonna spell it different every time until I figure it out, but I think this one is right—anyway Rhaenyra is married to Matt Smith but I don’t think he like… matters? I get the sense he’s kind of one of the Main Dudes but I also don’t know anything about what he like. Does? oh also he’s her uncle
there are……… three children. I’m not entirely positive whose children they are. I think they’re Alicent’s children. There’s—oh god—ONE OF THEM is Aemond and one of them is Aegon, only I’m not sure which is which. this is super embarrassing because @meyerlansky 's fave is “whichever is the one with the long hair and the eyepatch” so I SHOULD know this. but I'm bad with names and I just call the one who is their fave “three-mouth” bc he looks like that meme of the cat going >:3 at a knife. there’s also Helena, who was a small weird child who likes bugs, and whose name is definitely spelled differently than that
anyway. Ae-something (the one who looks like this >:3) has a dragon who is old and senile and her name is Grandma Warcrimes. and she accidentally (?) ate Ae’s couuuuusin, his name is Lu-something-or-other. this was a very significant thing that happened
Alicent’s Squad and Rhaenyra’s Squad have Major Significant Beef with each other, only I have honestly no idea what it is, other than like… their unresolved sexual tension
there’s also. okay wait. someone has a gay husband, yes? there’s a handsome Black man who is gay? was heeeee WAIT WAIT. Handsome Gay Husband was Rhaenyra’s husband, but she was fucking around with Uncle Matt Smith, so all her kids are… Uncle Matt Smith’s? and then Handsome Gay Husband died (was killed? for being gay maybe?) and then she married Uncle Matt Smith instead?
OH! WAIT WAIT WAIT. I’M PIECING IT TOGETHER I THINK. SO THE BEEF. Grandma Warcrimes ate Cousin Lululemon, who was…. like one of them is Alicent’s child and one of them is Rhaeynera’s, so the beef—in addition to the rampant lesbian sexual tension—is also about “your kid killed my kid on the playground” kind of an issue? (see now I’m second-guessing myself whose kid is whose based on hair color but whatever)
there’s also a GILF. she literally Just Died. which is sad, because she was hot rip
so yeah. that's all I got. that's all I've absorbed. this show is about lesbians and dragons and people are mad at each other for Reasons. I don’t know what those reasons are but they sure are fighting and killing about it!
Ghost Helpline Part 12
Zatanna had told Batman her misgivings about the demon girl. Her aura made Zatanna feel small, and dirty. As if she was covered in a layer of dust she could never scrub off.
Her eyes, Zatanna had never seen a demon with golden eyes before. Red and blue, even green but gold? Gold felt like an omen.
The girl reeked of death magic. It was brutally strong. It reminded her when Batman had contacted her about the Lazarus Pit. His expression when she told Batman spoke volumes.
And what the girl got in payment spoke even louder.
Zatanna’s father always had warned her demons were evil.
—- —- —-
Black Canary was busy strangling her husband as Batman went over the minutes.
“Our cameras were unable to pick up much of anything Batman, sorry.”
“It’s fine I remember the demons explanation well enough. First-“
“I CANNOT Believe you could be so stupid! Oliver ! What were you thinking!”
“Sorry sorry!”
Superman pulled a grim smile, “Canary please tell some sense into the man later. If this has taught us anything is that we need to be more prepared.”
“Right we will talk about this later Oliver,” Canary released her husband onto their seat, fuming and lovingly worried.
The green archer picked him self up and turned to the blond magician currently drinking himself to death, “Hey what do you think was up with Konstelacio? Poor girl wasn’t looking too hot.”
Dinha will always admire her husbands caring nature but god sometimes she just wanted to shake him.
Barry released a sigh, “So it want just me then! She really didn’t look to good! She was even acting differently! Want if she hurt? Or in trouble?”
“Bear calm.”
John shuffled threw a stack of paper on Vampire Fog. Bloody hell, for the price of this information the kid really hadn’t asked for much. But the rest of them weren’t going to see it that way.
“She’s -“
“Are you serious? Are you lot seriously worrying about a demon? After what just happened!” Zatanna really couldn’t understand these guys sometimes it was sweet but also incredibly naïve.
“Hey now it was my choice okay I signed the contract with her. We need this cure, ten hours of my life isn’t much in comparison! And I know that so can all of you just stop!” Oliver could understand why they were upset he could. But why couldn’t the see that the girl had cut them some slack… again! In a room of self sacrificing idiot it wouldn’t have been hard to sell her an entire life. Or if her interest in Connor was any indication an entire soul.
“Everyone just hold your bloody horses okay! She’s probably fine looks like she’s got a bit of teleportation sickness that’s all, a magical equivalent of dehydration really. Some rest and food and she’ll be right as rain in no time.”
John said as he fumbled around for their copy of the contract, which was another thing demons typically didn’t let you keep a copy.
Barry vibrated in his seat. Robin, Nightwing, Kid Flash and Superboy (Jon) walked into the meeting. Barry couldn’t concentrate ‘teleportation sickness’, was she teleporting too much? Were … were they hurting her by summoning her? ‘Rest and food’? Was she not resting ? Not eating? What do demons eat? Barry felt his best friend put a hand on his shoulder, and welcome the boys. Right they could talk about this later…. may be Diana would understand.
“Fucking hell,” John was internally screaming as he looked over the contract, “Well then Arrow looks like your contract is air tight- however there is one vague loophole. And a kind one at that.”
Canary shot up in her seat, “What is it?”
John continued, “In the case that contractee cannot fulfill this request another may do so but only at the acceptance of both parties.”
The contract went on for several more pages, goddamn what nutter even wrote this shit?
(Ghost Writer did and made Konstelacio carry around several with her at all times.)
“Wait wait wait,” Wally zipped out, “What happened ? What contract?”
Dinha was too upset for this, nodding to Diana before Oliver opened his mouth to down play the whole thing.
“Well what happened is-“
—- —- —-
// Diana wanted to give the girl the benefit of the doubt, she wanted to get to know her. To hear stories of Pandora and make a new sister. So when Diana saw Konstelacio’s entrance she was worried, “What do you want as payment? I’m sure we can work something out.” Smile Diana don’t scare her, she looks hurt.
Konstelacio looked about the room, Diana hid a smile she really hadn’t thought this threw. Well it was alright, Diana tapped absent mindedly on her sword maybe she could convince a trade for sword lesson? A trip to paradise island? May be Hal was right and they should offer a pet ?
The demons eyes flicked between Flash and Green Arrow. Left, right, left, right, left, left, left. “Him,” she pointed at the archer, “I want him.”
The Amazonian got into a defensive stance. No one was taking her friend.
“No!” “No way!” “Arrow no!” “Stop!”
“Hold on hold on now,” John approached the circle, “You can’t expect us to hand over one of our own. You can find someone else to eat.”
“I don’t want to eat him!”
“You want his soul then?”
“Not really I just want him, I try not to dabble in souls too much. It’s too much work.”
“Too much work? Then what would you need a person for ? Humans are really boring you know, lots of work and needy!”
The demon pouted, “I don’t care I want him!”
John pat Oliver on the back as he nodded to Diana mouthing “play along”.
“Oh well I guess I tried, oh well GA say your goodbyes! I’m sure your wife will miss you very much old friend.” He shook his head sadly, “We will have to call your son. Well then girl how would you like to-“
“WAIT!” Konstelacio wobbled, “You’re married.”
Dinha rushed to Oliver’s side as if to shield him, “Yes he is.”
Oliver picked up on the act, “Yes here she is my better half.”
A look ran across the child’s face, “Well then I can’t have you then.” She stared to breathe a little harder.
“What about me?”
“Superboy!”
“If you don’t care about souls then it shouldn’t matter that I am a clone and I’m not married.”
Hera Conner no! What is he-
“Who said that!!!” The demons face began to shift in color, anger steaming out of every pore.
“What?”
“Who said that you don’t have a soul because you’re a clone? You have one! You have one I see it!” She begun to clench her hands into the skirt of her dress, “Where you like it or not, clone or no clone, Superboy you were meant to be here.”
“Oh I -“
“Forget it. I don’t want you anyway. I need the archer,” she begun to pace the inside of the circle, “But I can’t break up a set!”
She turned to face them, “Ten I want ten hours of your life.”
“Deal.” //
—- —- —-
While the boys sat and digest what they just heard, Constantine finished reading over the cures recipe.
“Bloody hell are you kidding me it’s an energy potion!”
“What’s an energy potion?”
“The cure Z the cure to fucking Vampires Fog is fucking magic caffeine!! Maybe even real caffeine I dunno I’m not a chemist!”
Zatanna took the offending papers glancing over them. She stopped at some papers that were bound together the first page titled like a story book, “Hunting the Sun”.
“What’s this?”
“That is our historical insight to the disease, or at least some of it. No doubt Konstelacio has a better understanding on everything.” And more than likely has already chosen what side she’s on.
Nightwing stepped up to look at the little booklet with Zatanna, “So what is it what’s the story on Vampires Fog? I assume this might lead us to what caused the out break?”
Clark coughed as he stole a look at Bruce. The Bat was updating the files on the disease, he had an idea and as Clark recounted the explanation Konstelacio had given them he hoped that they were both wrong.
—- —- —-
// Clark watched as Oliver signed an agreement that would lead to an early grave, for being Superman he felt both powerless and grateful.
“Alright so first off Vampire Fog was not a disease released from Pandora’s box. The sickness was man made to eradicate their enemies.
The illness is meant to cause the infected to move and think erratically. Leading them to ether kill them selves or kill each other. If anyone survived this stage the next stage would put them to sleep rendering them defenseless.
One side says Vampires made it to level a kingdom in the aftermath of a botched marriage. Some sort of petty revenge.
Another side says the humans made it. The king was a zealot that refused to marry off his daughter to a kingdom of monsters. So when the wedding day came, the humans infected the whole city.”
After that the conversation had devolved and slowed. Batman didn’t ask any questions it was worrying, when was the last time he slept?
—- —- —-
“What the Boy Scout said, it’s a bloody sodding mess.”
Damian stopped to think about this politically, he stopped to think over all of this not like a Wayne but like an Al Ghul. It didn’t sit right with him, the occurrence of this disease and new information way too much of a coincidence. Someone must have planned it on purpose.
“So we have two completely different stories of origin so what ? We got the cure what does it matter whether the humans or the vampires made the disease?”
Diana fixed the young super with a motherly look, “Knowing about the past can help us protect the future. For example know we know that ether way the illness is something consciously made. Which means someone must have made it and released it on purpose.”
“Right now we just need to figure out why.”
“Tt- isn’t it obvious the vampire scum are behind this if humans are the only ones getting sick?”
Boston, visible thanks to John, stepped in,
”Actually a lot of magical creatures have been infected too! They are just a lot better at hiding it. Especially in the larger cities, word is a whole gaggle of vampires died not to long ago from it.”
Zatanna nodded her head, “It would explain why some creatures have been causing havoc in broad daylight- uh - In front of everyone. Magical creatures usually prefer to keep hidden. But if they were sick and could help it. They would rampage regardless of wether regular humans could see them or not.”
Hal thought about the hundreds of times he had to play mediator over the years. He thought of all the aliens and everything they would do to win. God he hated politics, “so ether a group of humans or vampires did this in order to play the blame game. The human group could easy point at magical creatures and blame them for being out of control monsters. Or vampires could be making everyone sick in order to blame the sickness on humans while also looking like the victim.”
The league talked over political moves as they passed the little booklet around. Batman had sent the magians out to gather information and Boston had come back with a lot of it.
The book finally made its way to Green Arrow, he flipped the pages and stopped at the drawing of a castle. It was an old European style with only two distinctive traits. A tower with circle windows and a circle on the entrance grounds covered in swirls.
// “My home! My castle! My kingdom ! Everything’s changed.”//
After the “fight” with the dragon, Oliver had done some detective work of his own. He needed to know more about this ghost and had found almost nothing. But looking at this drawing, he recognized that castle.
The archer looked up at Batman, his shoulders were hunched taking in and writing down every piece of information he heard. His face was passive and he didn’t even bother to look at his sons. Oliver thought about Batman’s distrust of Konstelacio and in turn Captain Marvel. He thought about what he had heard about the two leaguers fight, swallowed and decided to keep his mouth shut.
Batman didn’t need to know.
Daughter of wonderwoman au where marinette finds out her mother is actually Diana and somehow it ends up with her meeting/being introduced to the batfam maybe because she has super strength and is seen yeeting some bad guys who tried to mug her... Or something.
“... you are running from your problems, Mari,” Adrien’s exasperated voice reminded his best friend. Again. She ignored him, and he threw his hands up in exasperation. “Look, you don’t have to do anything about it! Nobody would hold it against you if you decided to just, ignore that you found anything out at all. But you need to actually think about what we just found out and decide whether or not you’re gonna do anything—“ he side-stepped a piece of trash that went flying in his direction. “—or if you’re gonna move on and pretend nothing happened.”
“Isn’t that what I’m doing?” Marinette shot back, pushing her bangs out of her face and tying her hair back with one hand.
“No, you’re currently hiding away in Gotham to avoid your parents while you beat up every random group of idiots who thinks you’re an easy mark,” he retorted. Another wannabe kidnapper went flying in his direction, making him sigh and side step again. She had thrown that one with only her one free hand, showing just how upset she was. “You’re ignoring everything in your life, which is not what we meant we said you should get a little space.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Marinette dropkicked the last criminal into unconsciousness before stepping back and putting her hands on her hips. She looked over at the now seven passed out men in the alleyway, and the one very frustrated ex-model pinching the bride of his nose. “I think I’m coping just fine.”
“It’s better than being forced to suppress all of your emotions, sure,” Adrien reluctantly agreed. “But not by much. Your angry rampage through Gotham has already attracted more attention,” he raised his hand to point at a nearby rooftop. Several shadows lurked there, looming over the building’s edge. “Which, might I add, is exactly why I told you not to come to Gotham.”
“You’re the one who followed me here,” she shot back before turning to the shadowy figures above them. “Go ahead and come down! But it was self defense, and you can’t arrest or beat me up for defending myself!”
The first figure to drop down straightened your just as quickly, revealing the imposing figure of none other than Batman himself. The little white eyes on his cowl seemed to narrow on their own as he looked down at her.
“That might be true, but I’m sure you know my policy on metas in my city,” he grumbled back at her. He wasn’t necessarily threatening, but he definitely wasn’t welcoming either. With all of his limbs hidden behind the cocoon that was his cape, Marinette would never be able to predict his next move if he did decide to fight. Not that she seemed particularly worried about that as she crossed her arms over her chest and met his glare evenly.
“Oh, do you own this city now? I wasn’t given the memo,” she retorted. “And considering I didn’t even know I was a meta until last week? I think I deserve a little slack. I’m angry and if people think the tiny little girl in pink is an easy kidnapping target, then it’s their fault for making themselves into the perfect practice dummies for me to try out my newly discovered strength on.”
Adrien saw the eyes on Batman’s mask narrow even further. Marinette wasn’t exactly at her most charismatic at the moment, and Adrien didn’t wanna get the both of them into a bad relationship with the experienced superhero who always seemed to know things he shouldn’t know. So he stepped up quickly, getting in between Marinette and the Bat and holding his hands up in a placating gesture.
“Okay, Monsieur Batman,” Adrien started slowly, making sure his posture was impeccable and his smile bright. “She’s telling the truth, even if she’s not... the most tactful about it right now. She just found out some very concerning things about her origin and Gotham is the best place for her to hide from her problems and let loose a little pent up aggression. But— well,” he grimaced. “We didn’t intend to run into you guys, but maybe it’s a good thing we did.”
“How so?” Batman was clearly still incredibly suspicious of the both of them and wasn’t giving an inch. So Marinette rolled her eyes (she was still very moody) and leaned around Adrien so she could get a good look at the monochromatic hero.
“I thank my lucky spots that we ran into you, Batman!” She said monotonously. “Me and Adrien are paw-sitively excited at this opportunity.”
Batman. Froze.
Not only were those two lines the very first lines ever spoken to him by two foreign heroes a few years ago (with a few key words changed to protect identities), but they had become their code phrase for whenever they made calls to one another outside of their costumes. All at once it seemed to hit him— the golden hair and bright green eyes on the boy, the blue-black hair and normally super-focused bluebell eyes on the girl that were currently sporting very uncharacteristic frustration. Their heights. Their builds. All of this info flowed through his mind and compared to the information stored in his memory, and it only took the span of two seconds for everything to click.
Suddenly Batman was at full attention, back straight instead of looming over them and eyebrows clearly raised high under his cowl.
He knew Chat Noir and Ladybug would never take a random vacation to Gotham. Ladybug herself had nearly waxed poetic about how much the city depressed her just from the pictures she saw online. If she had willingly come to visit, it was more than to just blow off some steam.
“Batcave?” He asked, earning a relieved look from Adrien and a moody silence from Marinette.
“Please,” Adrien agreed. “You can probably help us, actually.”
—*—*—*—*—*
Marinette leaned back in the metal debriefing chair, legs up on the table and looking for all the world as the picture of pure teenage rebellion and angst. Coincidentally, Red Hood was in the exact same position in the chair next to her.
Batman and all of his other bats and birds were in the cave with the two off-duty Parisian heroes. Everyone except Adrien and Marinette still had their masks on, since the two Parisians were still not privy to their identities. Yet.
To be fair, the bats hadn’t known the identities of the two miraculous users either before today.
“Cha Noir,” Batman started, only to get a head shake from the blond boy.
“Just call me Adrien. Chat’s out of the bag—“ he ignored the groans at the pun and soldiered on, “—so might as well use my real name.”
Batman nodded. “Adrien, then,” he amended. “Why are you and Ladybug really in Gotham?”
Adrien sighed. “I wasn’t lying, before. Marinette,” he gestured to his hero partner. “Just found out some distressing family news. Since HawkMoth is gone, she doesn’t need to repress her negative emotions anymore. But she also didn’t want to be around her parents while she processed everything. I told her to choose any other city— really, I begged— but she insisted on coming to Gotham.”
“The never ending cloud cover and constant rain seem thematic,” she finally spoke up, reaching into her big over-the-shoulder bag and pulling out a large envelope. She threw it to Batman, making the thin package slice through the air like a knife. To nobody’s surprise the seasoned hero easily caught the projectile between two fingers. He looked at the envelope and back to Marinette, silent questions floating in the air between them. Marinette decided to answer at her own pace.
“That’s what we found out. You see, one of my friends is a huge science nerd. A genius. And he wanted to compare DNA samples between us to see if there were any genetic components that determined a person’s suitability towards certain Miraculous or other magical artifacts over others. It was supposed to just be a fun side project that he didn’t expect any breakthroughs on. He mostly just wanted to satisfy his own curiosity. But instead of finding out if our DNA was linked to the miraculous, he found out that my parents are not biologically my parents.”
“Hence the whole just finding out that you’re a meta thing, right?” Nightwing spoke up, fully invested in the story. “Did they never say you were adopted before?”
“It’s not in the system,” she replied easily. “My parents have all the documentation to prove that I’m their biological child, except I’m not. When I confronted them about it, they caved and admitted that they had adopted me in secret and covered it up. Apparently a friend of theirs was involved in something illegal, and,” she waved at the envelope that Batman was now opening. “The details of what we were able to dig up are in there. The summary is this; their friend was part of a secret, illegal experimentation to create clones that could defeat the Justice League—“ the air seemed to get sucked out of the room as soon as those words left Marinette’s mouth. Everyone seemed to know exactly what she was talking about. “—a group called CADMUS. They made me, as apparently one of their early attempts. But I didn’t exhibit any of the powers they were looking for, or any meta traits at all, and my body refused to mature at the rate they wanted. They had no use for a seemingly normal human baby that they managed to clone, so they were preparing to kill me and start over. That’s when my parent’s friend stole me, not wanting to kill an infant, and begged my parents to take me in and pretend I was theirs. Low and behold, it turns out that my DNA just needed a very specific series of emotions to unlock it’s latent abilities.”
“Those emotions being..?” Red hood trailed off, earning a wolfish smile from Marinette.
“Intense anger, betrayal, and confused frustration closely followed by the desire to punch other people’s faces in.”
“That last one is just an assumption,” Adrien chimed in. “And maybe not accurate. But the first three, our scientist friend was able to confirm. The rapid experience of a lot of negative but action-oriented emotions released whatever had been holding back the powers in her DNA from expressing themselves,” he had switched to French so that he could explain everything exactly as Max had told it to them, but he knew all of them were fluent anyway so it was fine. They nodded along, processing the information.
The crinkling of paper drew everyone’s attention back to Batman, who had been flipping through the detailed break down of everything they had found about Marinette’s situation and how she was made by CADMUS.
“Uh,” Red Robin nervously spoke up. “What’s up, Batman?”
“Your genetic donors...” Batman breathed, getting a wink and finger guns from Marinette.
“Yup. Isn’t that just the most fucked up thing you’ve ever seen? They were clearly trying to make someone who could destroy the world.”
“That makes me nervous,” Nightwing admitted, getting up and going to get a look at the papers himself. “It can’t be that ba—“
When even Nightwing was left agape, everyone else who wasn’t in on it found themselves squirming.
“Just tell the rest of us, already!” Robin demanded after the silence stretched just a bit too long.
“The unknowing genetic donors that CADMUS used to make me,” Marinette spoke up, still with her legs up on the table. “Are a very mad-scientist’s-wet-dream combination of Lex Luthor, Bruce Wayne, and Wonder Woman.”
“We don’t even know why they added Bruce Wayne’s DNA,” Adrien admitted. “Although our scientist friend thinks it’s because of physique. His hypothesis is that, in order to support the genes of Wonder Woman, they had to add male genetics that could support the production of a very high muscle mass and would lean towards easy development of a very athletic body. Lex might be evil-scientist smart, but he’s a string bean. But if he added the DNA of another multi millionaire who just so happens to maintain a ridiculously fit body without putting any obvious work into it,” Adrien shrugged. “Then maybe the clone would be able to support Wonder Woman’s genetics and that of two human donors without falling apart.”
“So I’m ‘the clone’ now, huh?” Marinette snarked, earning an exasperated eye roll from her friend.
Batman just stared at the both of them for a moment. He walked away without a word, and came back with a fresh needle and a box. He placed it on the debriefing table.
“Can I do a paternity test myself?” He asked, his voice suspiciously less gruff than normal. “I trust the both of you, but I rather be safe than sorry with something like this.”
The both of them just stared at him in confusion. They traded a glance, and finally Marinette shrugged and moved to sit in her chair properly. Her shirt was already short sleeved, so she just held her arm out so Batman could easily get a blood sample.
“Sure, why not. But do you just have Lex Luthor or Bruce Wayne’s DNA sitting around to compare, or—“ she shut up when she watched Batman take off his glove and roll his own sleeve up. Realization slowly sunk in as he asked Nightwing to take a blood sample from him.
“Holy shit,” she breathed, eyes wide. “You’re— and Luthor doesn’t know— holy shit this is even worse than I thought,” Marinette rambled, not even noticing as Red Hood moved forward and took a small blood sample from her.
Adrien put a hand over his face and just laughed for a moment hysterically. “Oh my god,” he looked over at Marinette. “You could take over the world.”
“I have the blood of Batman AND Wonder Woman on MY side,” Marinette joked back, also hysterical.
When the bat’s high tech equipment was able to come back with a positive result only a few minutes later, Marinette and Adrien had to sit on the floor and just let it all sink in. Which Batman did not at all help by immediately unmasking himself and trying to make a proper introduction.
“I wanna go beat up random thugs again,” Marinette whined, pulling at her hair. “I’ll put on a mask, whatever, but just please let me punch people. I need to punch people right now.”
Future kids - Bakugou Katsuki I
Bakugou meets his son from the future. Just some fluff, with a jealous Bakugou.
Bakugou Katsuki x F! reader
Warnings: none
Bakugou was stomping his way back to the dorms, cursing that stupid nerd Deku in his mind. Kicking some rocks lying in his way, he was radiating murder. Naturally his classmates left him alone to cool off for a minute, even the Baku squad left him alone. They had chosen not to interfere, because they would like to live to see another, thank you very much.
The stupid nerd had been too close to y/n at lunch today, and Bakugou had spent the entire time glaring at the curly green haired boy. What really made him snap was when she hugged him, and the stupid brocoli went as red as a tomato. She was giggling loudly and seemed really happy at whatever Midoriya had said, and the fiery ash blond couldn't control his jealousy so he stormed off. After class was over Bakugou was the first out the door, not even stopping to insult Denki when he made a bad joke.
The rest of his classmates were confused, sure they all knew Bakugou to be a hothead. But still he seemed angrier than usual, only the Baku squad had small nervous but knowing smiles on their face. They knew of the explosive boy's crush on y/n, it wasn't totally obvious and they really wouldn't have known had Kirishima not pointed out the subtle things. Like how he never once called her an extra, he still called her idiot, dumbass and such. That was probably Bakugou's version of a compliment, which was probably the reason they took so long to figure out his crush.
So here he was stomping his way back to the dorms, cursing Deku for being close with y/n, Himself for getting jealous, y/n for being too friendly and everything he could curse in general. He stopped dead in his tracks when he felt a little tug on his uniform pant leg, glaring down at the thing that stopped him. Only to be confused when that thing turned out to be a little boy, around the age of 4-5 by the looks of it. Bakugou's brows furrowed in confusion, how did a little boy end up here. UA is one of the most secure places in Japan, courtesy of the League of Villains and other past incidents.
What caught Bakugou's attention though, was the fact that this little boy was bawling his eyes out and trembling with his sobs. Bakugou didn't know what was happening, he felt incredibly protective of the young boy but didn't know why. He seemed kind of familiar, like Bakugou had seen parts of him somewhere else before. The little boy had big e/c doe eyes, filled to the brim with tears as he stared at the ground. His hair was unruly and a familiar shade of ash blond, he reminded Bakugou of himself a bit when he was young except the crybaby attitude of course. It was weird for Bakugou to feel this protective of anything, and he didn't like it one bit
" Oi brat, where are you parents?" The teenager asked the little boy, crouching down to his level, making the little lad finally pay attention to the stranger he had grabbed. The little boy gasped and flung himself at Bakugou, clutching on tightly to the stunned teenager's shirt. A new wave of tears hit the little blonde, being relieved at the familiar sight of his fathers face though much younger. " D-daddy, I-I was so scared" the little boy whimpered, burying his tear stained face in his fathers shoulder. Bakugou was speechless, he sure as hell was not this kid's father even if it explained the feeling of familiarity. No Bakugou shook his head at the ridiculous thought, this kid was obviously terrified and contrary to popular belief Bakugou would not abandon a lost child " Oi brat, I'm taking you with me back to the dorms. Afterwards we'll find your parents' ' he huffed, Bakugou was going to kill this kid's parents once they were found.
The younger boy began calming down in the older boy's arms, the tears had stopped and he was only softly hiccupping now. "B-but daddy I did find you, I wanna go see mommy" the young boy huffed out, defiantly crossing his arms over his little chest. " Oh yeah, prove it brat" Bakugou smirked thinking he had cornered the little boy in his lie, but much to his astonishment the little boy let out a small explosion in the palm of his hand. Though much brighter than his own, there was no mistaking his explosion quirk. Bakugou hated to admit that so far the brat seemed to be telling the truth, and he hated even more how his feeling of protectiveness grew at the revelation that this kid in fact was most likely his son from the future. It wasn't rocket science, right now Bakugou was 16 and 100% not a father. Yet here is a little boy that is the spitting image of him as a kid except the eyes, and in this world where quirks exist perhaps time travelling was possible.
Bakugou's little chat with his son had taken longer than he thought, because as soon as he entered the dorm common room every one in the room snapped their head towards the two ash blondes. The first to break the pin drop silence was Kirishima " Eh who is the kid, Bakubro" he asked. While Mina asked if he had kidnapped the kid, earning a glare from the explosive blonde. " Daddy, why does Aunt Mina and Uncle Kiri not recognize me? " a little voice asked, making a lot of jaws drop and eyes widened. 1....2......3...... " WHA!!!" The lot of them shouted, questions coming left and right, wanting an explanation as to why this little boy who looked suspiciously like Bakugou called him dad.
What they all failed to notice was the little boy was recoiling from the loud noise, pressing himself closer and closer to his father. Bakugou noticed this, and thanks to his newfound protectiveness he hugged him closer and glared at them effectively shutting them up. Mostly they were just silenced because the sight of Bakugou hugging and being protective of his supposed son baffled them. I mean we are talking about Mr.Hothead angry Pomeranian, the most blatant rude student in class 1-A if not in the entirety of UA. " Shut it ya damn morons, can't you see you're frightening him" Bakugou sneered at his classmates, not loudly but it was still malicious enough to make a shiver run up their spines.
Midoriya, who had known Kacchan the longest, was intrigued by this side of Kacchan and unconsciously moved closer to the two ash blondes. Seeing the familiar shade of green hair approach them Bakugou sneered, while his son became ecstatic. " Uncle Izu '' The child yelled excitedly, stretching his arm towards the blushing brocoli boy indicating he wanted to be held. " Ah hell no! He is not your uncle, I won't allow shitty Deku to hold my son" Bakugou yelled, making a few snicker quietly, but what really set them off was the fact his son chopped his head with a little fist. "Oi, why the hell did ya do that for ya brat? Bakugou barks at his son, only receiving a deadpan expression in return. " Mommy said, every time your daddy is mean to uncle Izu chop his head for me, okay baby?" After that announcement they all burst out laughing, while Midoriya tried not to tremble under Bakugou's glare.
"Speaking of which, who is your mom?, uhm I never got your name, little guy" Kirishima asked the little boy, stating a valid point. Bakugou realized that even though he had known his son for about 5 hours now, he never once asked what the boy's name was. " What do you mean, Uncle Kiri, it's me Katsuma?" Katsuma tilted his head a bit, not really being aware or understanding that he most likely travelled through time. " Well you aren't born in our time yet, mini Bakugou" Kaminari informed the little boy, in his usual teasing voice. " Really Uncle Kami" Little Katsuma asked " Does this mean mommy and daddy aren't together yet?" He asked, surprising the teenagers. Katsuma was surprisingly smart for a kid his age, and after the initial shock from being called daddy Katsuki totally forgot to ask about his son's mother.
"That is correct, Katsuma'' Todoroki piped up in his usual monotone voice, surprising Katsuma with his appearance. " Uncle Todo'' Katsuma replied coolly, surprising everyone present. The happy bubbly 5 year old had vanished in an instant, and been replaced with a little boy full of hatred. Breaking the little staring contest that had broken out between his son and the damn half n half bastard, was none other than Midoriya's phone. Being the klutz that he is, he ended up answering and putting it on speaker. " Izuku, Ochaco said there was a cute kid at your dorm, so I'm coming over " y/n voice could be heard, instantly Katsuma brightened up again being all sparkles and rainbows again. He tugged at his dad's collar, demanding Katsuki's attention " daddy, daddy did you hear, mommy's coming over" the little ash blonde exclaimed, bouncing in his fathers arms from being giddy. This new information caused everybody's jaw to land on the floor once again.
" WHY, why does Bakugou get the hot chick? '' Mineta yelled in agony, being the little pervert he is, he had to comment on her looks. " Oi, don't talk about my future wife and baby mama y/n like that, I'll fucking blast you to hell" His statement followed by the crackeling in his palm, and the sound of a phone being dropped? Turning around Bakugou was met with your stunned face, eyes blown wide with confusion and astonishment clearly written on your face. " Mommy" Katsuma yelled, squirming trying to get out of his fathers embrace, and slowly Katsuki sat him down. When his small feet hit the floor, Katsuma was sprinting towards y/n with all his might and flinging himself into her arms. Resulting in the poor girl, falling down on the floor in her confusion.
Katsuma buried his face in her neck, sighing happily to himself. The remaining nerves he had totally disappeared once he saw you. As much as Katsuma was a daddy’s boy, he was even more of a mama’s boy. Katsuma could feel the lack of response coming from his mother, curious and slightly scared he looked at her face. you were absolutely stunned, no response came from you frightening the young boy. Tears began swimming in Katsuma’s beautiful e/c eyes, snapping you back to reality. The sight of a child with tears in his eyes, struck your motherly instincts. Answers could wait, right now there was an adorable toddler with tears in his eyes, and you had to comfort him.
Slowly Katsuma was pulled into your embrace, head buried in the crock of your neck. Arms wrapped tightly around the preciuóus boy, letting him cling to you for deer life. “ M-mommy, I m-missed you, I was s-so scared-d” Katsuma said through sobs and hiccups. Not bothering to correct him, you bounced him lightly up and down in your arms. Bakugou came and helped you onto your feet, putting an arm around your waist. His other hand began stroking Katsuma’s unruly blond hair.
Around them the rest of the class was still stunned into silence, seeing the small family in an embrace. Most of them had never seen Bakugou look so protective and calm, let alone with a small blush. You would also sport a matching blush if it weren’t for the fact, all your attention was on the young boy in your arms. He looked like a carbon copy of Katsuki, yet his e/c eyes looked exactly like yours. Slowly the sniffles stopped. Instead they were replaced by steady breathing, it seems like the child had a long day because he was fast asleep in your arms.
Slowly you made your way to the 1-A dorm living room couch, with the sleeping child in your arms and Bakugou not far behind you. He made it a point to keep his hand on the small of your back, glaring at the other guys present if they looked at your or his son the wrong way. “ Can somebody please explain to me what is going on?” You whispered so you wouldn’t wake up the young boy, whose name you still hadn’t caught. Your eyes caught Izuku’s eyes, but for some reason his eyes widened and he averted his gaze from you. Izuku is one of your best friends, you met because you and your classmate Hatsume Mei worked on his hero costume and you hit it off.
With your attention not fully on the child anymore, you now realised that somebody had their arm around your shoulders. Looking to your right where the owner would be stítting, your eyes widened slightly at the person on your right. One of the hottest guys in UA had his arm around you, Bakugou Katsuki of class 1-a was well known in the school. His temper, looks and quirk had made him extremely popular with the female population of UA, though none of them dared approach him. The bad boy image both attracted them and made them keep their distance from him. He wasn’t exactly known for being a teddy bear, so Katsuki hugging y/n closer to him and keeping touching her was not expected.
“ Oi Flashlight, brat is ours from the future. I don't know how he got here but it’s true. He even has my quirk, you know what this means right ” Bakugou spoke, explaining the situation. The others had left the two of you alone, giving Bakugou privacy to explain the surreal situation to you. What this means? What did he mean by that? You couldn’t help but ponder the meaning. Turning your head to face him and question him on what he meant, you were met with a very close Bakugou. Bakugou couldn’t contain himself seeing you look so adorably clueless, so he closed the small gap between you.
His lips were surprisingly soft. He was gentle in kissing you, not knowing how you would react. I mean you had to like him back right? You were sitting there next to hum with YOUR SON in your arms. He smelled nice, it was a sweet scent like caramel courtesy of his quirk. The kiss was slow, loving and gentle, the feeling of his lips on yours were intoxicating. Pulling back from the kiss, Bakugou growled silently, huskily in your ear “Your mine, flashlight” Heat crept up your neck, and you were left softly blushing. “ What are we going to do with him Bakugou?” Still facing Bakugou, you looked at your son from the future. There really was no mistake, he looked like a perfect Katsuki copy with your eyes, and your motherly instincts told that this was in fact your son.
“It’s Katsuki to you Flashlight ” He corrected you “For now let's go to bed, it’s late. We can ask the squirt questions tomorrow” Katsuki led you to his room, still with a sleeping Katsuma in your arms. His bed was big enough to fit the three of you. You laid down with Katsuma in the middle, both you and Katsuki put an arm around Katsuma. Katsuki intertwined your fingers, and slowly you fell into a blissful sleep. You could ask more questions tomorrow.
But when you woke up, Katsuma was nowhere to be found. Only you and Katsuki were cuddling in his bed. You and Katsuki both came to the conclusion that whatever quirk sent Katsuma here probably sent him back to his own time. “Katsuki, is it wrong of me to miss him already?” You looked at your new boyfriend, looking into his sleepy vermillion orbs. “ If you miss the little firecracker already, why don’t we bring him back” His morning voice was rough, and tickled your ears just right, sending a shiver down your spine. Bakugou's eyes glinted with mischief, as he began kissing your neck. The innuendo not lost on you, the feeling of his lips on a particular spot had you giggling. It was ticklish and stopped him in his tracks for just long enough for you to get a word in. “ Let’s wait a few years okay” He nodded and laid down next to you again, pulling you close.
You would see Katsuma again. Someday.
SEQUEL TO “don’t forget it”
SYNOPSIS: One week after accidentally blowing you off on your date, Bakugou Katsuki seeks your forgiveness.
pairing: bakugou katsuki x fem!reader
genre: fluff, very little angst
word count: 5.4k+
warnings: none really accept maybe a character sustaining an injury
author’s note: hellooooo this is a very very very late part 2 of my don’t forget it drabble that many people asked for! i hope this lived up to your expectations and was worth the wait!
Since the events that led you to leave Bakugou’s room in a fit of bitterness after attempting to penetrate that thick head of his, he hadn’t been able to speak to you for a week.
It goes without saying he did his best to chase you down the hallway from his room and toward the elevator the moment he realized his faults. But at the stink eye you shot him through the minimizing slit of the elevator doors sliding into place, he knew he had no right to reconcile with you after pulling a stunt like that. Nor did he think you’d want to spare him any more words to begin with. It was clear you were done arguing with him.
“C’mon man, it’s probably best to let her cool down before you try to make up with her,” was the advice Kirishima offered when Bakugou returned to his room, disgruntled as he heavily fell back into his seat next to the desk. He did the bare minimum to acknowledge his friend’s words with a grunt before resuming tutoring the redhead, his method of teaching suddenly harsher than how it began thanks to his soured mood. He lapsed the day away by pounding Kirishima with problems upon problems against that hard noggin of his, both literally and figuratively.
At the very least, Kirishima earned himself a passing grade on their exam as a result of his hard work and their rigorous tutoring sessions. But what followed Bakugou’s and your relationship was still undetermined.
Days later and you were relentless in giving him the cold shoulder.
Bakugou was met with nothing but empty glances and blatant disinterest whenever he crossed your path. It felt like the wall you slotted between him grew another layer at each encounter, your defenses so impenetrable, it could give Kirishima’s quirk a run for its money. He couldn’t so much as utter a word in your direction without you effectively dodging every possible interaction in favor of joining another conversation nearby.
At first, Bakugou shrugged it off, calling your “childish attitude” unwarranted for something he thought was incredibly trivial. In his eyes, it was just an ordinary date at some run-of-the-mill restaurant he just happened to suggest to you because he took a liking to their spicy food. Not like it was some fancy dinner reservation serving caviar on dry toast beside a pretty, city night skyline. To him, it was nothing special.
However, as the week continued to roll by, it became clear to him how much he hurt you due to his selfishness. In a hangout with the Bakusquad, he learned that you apparently told Mina, along with the rest of the girls, everything during one of your girls’ nights. Which included the events prior to your heated argument in Bakugou’s dorm. And Mina, being just as peeved as you were at how Bakugou stood you up that day, had to let the blond know of the damage he’d done.
.
.
“I swear, Bakugou Katsuki, I know you can be an asshole sometimes—”
“Make that all the time,” Sero quietly adds in the middle of Mina’s rant while he lounges backward on Kaminari’s bed. If it wasn’t for his current dilemma, Bakugou would have elbowed him in the back of the head.
“—but this is crossing the line!” she finishes. Her arms are thrown exaggeratedly over her chest. The amber surrounded by the black scleras of her eyes points a beady look at the ash-blond crisscrossed on the floor between Kirishima and Kaminari.
“Poor girl sat there for hours waiting for you, only to find out she got blown off because you couldn’t even properly check your reminders!” She paces back and forth in the room, feet excessively stepping across the floor as she’s engulfed by the emotions she feels for her friend. “What’s worse? She comes back and finds out you’ve been doing your own thing with Kirishima the whole time!”
“Hey! It’s not like we were playing around! We were actually having a very serious study grind, thank you very much,” the redhead immediately clarifies. Though his explanation doesn’t alleviate Bakugou’s case in the slightest, who pounds his palms against the surface of the table they’ve gathered around.
“Look. I fucking get it, Ashido. I screwed up, okay?! Now what the fuck do you want me to do about it?!” he exclaims, anger overpowering his voice, but it does little to deter Mina.
“Fix it, obviously!” she quips back with equal fierceness, leaning in eye level with Bakugou.
“And how do you propose I do that, Raccoon Eyes? Hah?” Repositioning his elbow to rest on the table, he leans his cheek against his hand. “Y/n won’t even let me within five fucking feet in front of her and you still expect me ‘fix this’?”
Despite the situation weighing heavily on his shoulders, no immediate answer is bestowed upon him. That is, except the obnoxiously loud crinkle of a chip bag popping open next to Bakugou that cleaves into the scene like a record scratch. As if unable to read the mood in his own room, Kaminari fishes a chip to throw in his mouth, stirring the awkward silence into tension.
“Wow, Bakugou. I know you’re bad with girls and all, but you really messed up this time,” he remarks. His voice is slightly muffled as he munches his chips, continuing to wrinkle the bag for more. It incites a vein to swell on Bakugou’s forehead. He amasses all the willpower within him not to blast the bag of chips to ash, and the boy alongside it.
“If you dunce faces are just gonna sit here and throw salt in my wound then I’m outta here.”
“No, wait!” Kirishima catches Bakugou’s wrist before he fully lifts himself off the floor. “Come on, Bakugou, I’m sure we can think of something! We just need to put our heads together! Right, guys?” he assures. Finding it hard to deny his friend’s hardened conviction, Bakugou gives Kirishima the benefit of the doubt, albeit with slumped shoulders and a tentative raise of his brow as he slowly sits back down.
“Right! Everyone, let’s get some brainstorming done!” Mina yells encouragingly.
The atmosphere of Kaminari’s room is consumed by moderately thoughtful silence for the next ensuing minutes. A few hums pass, followed by an exchange of contemplative looks as four of the five rack their heads together to uncover a solution. The one in need of help only hunches in his seat, waiting with mild disinterest.
“Oh hey, don’t we have hero training with All Might tomorrow?” Sero is the first to comment, scooting to the edge of the blond’s bed.
“Yeah. So?”
“He said we were going to work on group exercises this time around. You know, teamwork and stuff,” he explains further.
At that, Mina snaps her fingers, the work of a brilliant idea flickering in her head. “Sero, that’s it! Tomorrow, during training, we’ll just form a group together with Y/n! After all, she’ll have to talk to Bakugou if you two are on the same team!” She claps her hands in front of her, her enthusiasm rippling through her body and shown energetically with each raise of her voice. “Then, while the rest of us ‘split up’ to cover more ground, that will be your chance to make everything better with Y/n! It’s genius!”
“You missed one fucking crucial detail, Pinky,” Bakugou gruffs. “That will only work if Y/n doesn’t join another group. The moment she sees I’m on yours, she’s not even going to hesitate making a u-turn.”
“Worry not~ I’ll just text all the girls except Y/n about the plan later and ask them to help sort everyone out!” She solves the problem with relative ease—quick as a click of her phone lighting up and finger sliding open to her messages.
“Uh, another thing though.” Kirishima raises his hand to spare his concern. “All Might says we’ll be splitting into groups of five at most, but there’s already five of us here.”
There’s a brief moment of deadpanning until Mina speaks casually. “Oh, that’s right. Kaminari. Take one for the team and make sure to join another group, ‘kay?” She settles without batting a lash.
Kaminari almost chokes on a mouthful of chips. “H-Huh?! What?! Why me?!!” he sputters.
“Because you’ve been eating chips this entire time and haven’t contributed to anything.”
“Hey, I offered the room, didn’t I?!” He tries justifying but is inevitably rejected by Mina’s wagging finger.
“Ah-ah, no complaints! Besides, it’s only one day of training. If we want this dilemma between Bakugou and Y/n fixed then we all have to play our part, got it?” Mina finalizes with a firm point of her finger nearly grazing the tip of the blond’s nose as he leans back to avoid it, eyebrows scrunched in discontent at the role he’s been reduced to.
“Alllllright!” Kirishima springs from his seat with outstretched arms and tightened fists. “Operation: Get Y/n to Forgive Explosion Boy is underway!”
“Dude, that’s a terrible name!” Sero laughs but rises from the bed to join the redhead’s cheer alongside Mina, the group already in high spirits.
Despite rolling his eyes at their swell of confidence, Bakugou does not object to the state of things. As crazy as it sounds, one could almost decipher the cusp of a grin pulling the seams of his lips as a possible sign he’s actually all for this extravagant little plan. Quite a first for Bakugou, but then again, there’s not much else he can do in this situation except rely on his pack of chumps.
Meanwhile, Kaminari grumbles something beneath the salty grit between his teeth.
“Alright, can you all get out of my room now?”
.
.
The scowl etched on your face carries a strong air of disdain that dampens the mood around your teammates considerably. Well, no one should be surprised. With Bakugou standing across from you, staring into the void of your expression, it’s to be expected that you wouldn’t be happy with this outcome.
No, “unhappy” doesn’t quite do your circumstance justice. You are beyond livid.
You feel your eyebrow twitch as you try quivering your lips to form a tinge of a smile. Unfortunately, all that quickly falls apart when you suddenly recall the disaster of last week, triggered by an accidental glance at Bakugou’s mug.
Trying to simmer down, you release a mental sigh amidst the turmoil boiling inside you.
Okay, maybe you’re over-exaggerating. Maybe you’re still just a bit too bitter for your own good and letting your emotions get to you. But in a class of twenty or some students, how did you end up in a group with the one person you were actively trying to avoid?
The moment All Might gave everyone the go-ahead to form their teams for today’s training exercise, you swiftly made a beeline toward two particular star students. Midoriya and Todoroki.
It was simple really. Your experiences throughout the school year told you Bakugou planned on staying away from his rivals when it came to teamwork, regardless of whether you’re there or not. He’s a competitive ass whose goal is to beat anyone he deems a threat in his climb to be the number one hero. It’s only logical you partner with people he adamantly dislikes to evade him.
Yet it seems fate has other plans for you today. By the time you found yourself pacing over to the two students you had in mind, they’d already gone and picked their own group members, forming teams before you could even ask.
Your nose wrinkles like you’ve taken a whiff of something rancid. Or, to be more specific, something fishy. Hooking an arm around Mina’s elbow, you drag the pink-haired girl off to a corner somewhere while tilting your head back at the three other boys.
“Ex. Cuse. Us.” Your words sound as stiff as cardboard. It comes out in practically a hiss when your eyes cross Bakugou. Once you’re positive you’re out of earshot, you whip your head at Mina.
“Mina, what the hell? When you dragged me over here to form a group with you you didn’t tell me he’d be there,” you groan. Childish and petty as you may sound, you just couldn’t fathom the idea of confronting the boy so soon.
Mina holds her hands out, ready to rationalize the whole ordeal. “C’mon Y/n, this is actually an advantage for us! With us four plus you on our team, we’re sure to knock the rest of the other guys out during training today! I mean we showed pretty good teamwork together at the sports festival, didn’t we?”
Steadying your gaze, you hold a finger below your chin as you slowly buy into the explanation. The reasoning is there. It’s hard to argue against a case like that, fully aware that being on the same team as explosion boy will easily snag good results for you and your party. ‘Cause as much of an arrogant jerk as he is, you have to admit Bakugou Katsuki knows his way around hero action like the back of his grenade gauntlets.
“Besides it’s not like you could avoid him for the entire school year. I mean, you two are in the same class. It was only a matter of time before you had to—”
“I know, Mina,” you interject, not wanting the rest of her sentence about the inevitable fall to your ear. “I just… Agh, you know what I mean!” You ruffle your hands through your hair in confliction, unsure how to piece your thoughts together.
Tilting your head over Mina’s shoulder, you sneak a glimpse at Bakugou, watching him as he’s cast to the side with the others. He’s fending himself from Kirishima and Sero’s combined jokes, that usual look on his face sending glares at the two and yelling something you could almost pick up on if you honed your ears a bit more. Surprisingly, when his eyes meet yours for a split second, he stands there looking nonchalant again. Both of you immediately avert your gazes.
Mina pats your shoulder, bringing you back to the conversation at hand. “I know, I know, but after this, I’m sure you can go back to ignoring his ass. After all, it’s just one training exercise, right?” she says. As her words deliver some relief to your ill-timed situation, you give in with a sigh.
Unbeknownst to you, turning your back to Mina and striding toward the rest of your teammates again, you miss the small glint in her yellow eyes, along with the subtle gestures she aims at the three boys, waving her pointed thumbs over your head secretively.
“So I take it you’re on the team with us, Y/n?” Sero asks when the two of you return. You nod in reply and the boy flashes his pearly whites in a wide grin that Kirishima mirrors. He nudges Bakugou at his sides which you subtly catch in the far corner of your eye.
You raise a brow suspiciously at their fidgeting, wondering why having you on their team warrants such enthusiasm, but you’re thankful for their energy at least. Someone has to lift the atmosphere for this not to be a complete drag and Bakugou surely isn’t going to be the mood maker of the group.
The blond scoffs. “Yeah, well, if you dumbasses are going to form a team with me, you’ll follow under my leadership, got it?”
The three readily agree. Though you roll your eyes, you don’t challenge his position, considering no one else is that much up to the task as he is. You’ll simply have to deal with the fact that you’re forced to tread through the day under his leadership. So with no objections, the five of you walk back to the class, gathering around the entrance of today’s battlefield.
Jumping into the activity, All Might goes about explaining today’s lesson to the four sets of teams—consisting of a group exercise to heighten teamwork. The name of the game? Capture the flag.
In short, each team will be split off into different sections of the labyrinth where their assigned flag is stationed. The objective is to not only protect your flag from being stolen but also try and steal an opposing team’s flag from their base and escort it safely to your home field. Nice and simple.
Not long after All Might’s explanation, the gate to the training grounds opens and you all scatter off into your teams, navigating through the twists of the maze to locate your flags. Once your group situated themselves onto your home base, you assemble in a huddle to devise a strategy before the game starts.
“So what’s the plan?” Kirishima asks, eyes darting around his teammates until they rest on Bakugou—the team leader. The ash-blond crosses his arms, a confident sneer plastered on his face as he’s already thought of his plan of action the moment All Might announced the mission.
“Easy. I’m going straight to the front-lines to swipe one of those dumbasses’ flags. You lot are gonna stay here and guard ours until I come back.” He delivers the strategy in a matter-of-fact tone that you quickly don’t take a liking to. Your fist curls in irritation.
“What kind of a plan is that?” you question audaciously, your voice louder than you intended. “So you’re just going to do all the work while we sit around and wait for you?”
Bakugou grits his teeth, leaning further into the huddle to direct his senseless logic. “Look, it’s the fastest and most surefire way to snag our victory without sacrificing anyone,” he says. Playing over his words again, he finds it surprising he even chooses to offer his reasoning. Because if it were anyone other than you he was arguing with, he’s certain he’d leave it at that.
Knowing the current tension between you was a result of his misjudgment, it feels only right for Bakugou to make an effort in communication. He ignores the antsy expressions belonging to the others who signal from behind you to follow along with their original plan.
You don’t seem to catch the hint, nor do you buy into his ridiculous strategy. “Oh, so you’re that confident you won’t get taken out by the other team then?” you quip. As a result, Bakugou’s brows tighten at your noncompliance.
“I know how to take care of myself. You of all people should realize by now that no other nerd in this whole damn class can outmatch me.”
“And what about an ambush? How do you know they simply won’t anticipate your strategy and see you coming?” You fire another counterargument and the boy purses his lips, beginning to find this quarrel spiraling into a headache rather than a step in the direction of reconciliation.
While Sero and Kirishima stand there, shifting their heads back and forth throughout the fiery exchange, Mina speedily reacts. The gears of that cunning mind of hers click into place again.
“You know what, Y/n’s right. Why don’t you two go together then?” she proposes boldly. Her suggestion catches you by complete surprise. You veer in her direction with an incredulous look blown in your eyes.
Before you can open your mouth to protest, the two boys standing beside her immediately back her up.
“Hm, Mina has a point. The chances of you falling into a trap wouldn’t be much if you two work together,” Sero remarks.
Kirishima follows, “Yeah, you guys can watch each other’s backs while going to collect the flag! It’s safer to go in a pair than by yourselves I’d say.”
The three seem adamant about the idea, sharing equally content expressions, and with all that said, you find it hard to dig yourself out of this situation. In a way, you practically volunteered yourself after questioning Bakugou’s plan and doubting his abilities. The group only feels it’s right you come along as his support since you clearly must be worried about his well-being.
Pushing your objections down your throat, you reluctantly agree to tag along with the blond. What you find exceptionally shocking is how Bakugou doesn’t oppose these new conditions. Given his hard-headed temperament, you thought he would’ve scoffed and turned his back at being paired without notice, but no such things were happening here.
...Odd.
“Tch, whatever. Let’s get going then,” is all he gives, starting in the direction into the urban area of the training course.
You trail behind him. “Coming, Boom-Boy…” you mutter the last bit but don’t suppress the urge to let your words be known. Bakugou turns his head and gives you a look akin to an uptight six-year-old you just offended at your local playground. You shrug in response, a corner of your lip pinched upward. He doesn’t pick a fight over the nickname, but his eyebrows remain fiercely slanted, and coupled with his heavy steps and the excessive swinging of his gauntlet-clad arms, it tells you of his emotional constipation plain as day.
.
.
The journey toward the other teams’ flags is cloaked in strained silence and the physical gap between you two does not encourage any of you to speak up. At this point, both of your levels of annoyance for each other have mellowed out. Now it just feels... awkward—strange. You don’t see his expression, nor does he see yours. It feels like you’re being left in the dark, having only the back of Bakugou’s head to stare at the entirety of the way, and though you supposedly have his back, Bakugou feels precarious in this state as he trudges along at the front, not daring to turn his head to cross your eyes.
The ambiance is reminiscent of the ancient Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice. Where Bakugou walks through the depths of the underworld, seeking you out in hopes you’d join his side once again. If he turns around now and spills his thoughts to you too soon, he fears that your forgiveness would be whisked away, thoroughly beyond his reach, and replaced with your promises of retribution.
That was the eloquent version of the situation anyway. To put it bluntly, Bakugou was just impatient as hell to say something to you. The silence suffocates him to the point where the words are nearly about to be squeezed out of his throat, but he bites his lip to snuff out the urges.
The more he keeps them in, the more fidgety he becomes, hands itchy and mouth trembling with grit between his teeth. The idea of not letting his voice be heard was something Bakugou detested. Mainly because it was already such a challenge to even keep his mouth shut, given his fiery attitude and lack of patience.
Man, what the hell am I hesitating for? he asks himself, that outspoken side of him spurring him on.
Ah, screw the uncertainty, he thinks. If he doesn’t say anything now, then he won’t get to say anything ever.
Bakugou stops in his tracks, turning his head. Here goes nothing,
“Hey, Y/n, I–”
“Katsuki–”
Words collide into each other, jumbled and incoherent, which take you two by surprise as you meet each other’s furrowed gazes. It’s quiet as you both piece your way through this, eyes trained like you haven’t seen each other in months when the reality is that a week of bitterness has somehow made you act like strangers. The bewildered look crossing his features is foreign to you; you’ve never quite seen Bakugou as taken aback as he is now.
“You first,” you grant before Bakugou could mix up your words again. Even being given permission, the blond still isn’t sure what to say, his thoughts lost on him the moment his voice clashed with yours. He takes a deep breath, calming his senses and steadying his mind for what he wants to convey.
“Look, Y/n, I don’t know how to put this as nicely as I can,” he begins, tone consistent yet wary, assessing your expression, “but I know I fucked up and I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have left you there all by yourself. I shouldn’t… have blown you off like that and forgotten about you.” He delivers this bluntly—honestly—as open as a boy of his nature can muster with arms spread out, willingly exposing him to his faults and your reprisals.
Looking at you, he finds your eyes are cast to the floor, assuming to be reflecting on his words carefully. After some deliberation, you come across the vermillion in his eyes.
“Frankly, I haven’t entirely forgiven you just yet. But I will say that despite how I’ve been acting, I’m not as mad at you as you think,” is what you give, and Bakugou would be lying to himself if he didn’t achieve relief at your statement. He mentally releases a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding throughout the exchange. However, you aren’t done yet.
“I just want you to understand what moments like those mean to me. It’s during that time where I can share my feelings and learn more about you—understand who you are,” you say. Bakugou latches onto every word. “And it goes both ways, you know. It’s hard to want to stay in a relationship with someone who doesn’t make an effort to make time for you.” It’s obvious you aim that comment at him as Bakugou’s eyes soften slightly hearing it. His calloused, glove-clad hands wrap into his palms. Man, he really was a jerk.
“Still… I know you’re making an effort to be sincere and that you’re genuinely sorry for what happened, especially considering how the others seem to have set this whole conversation up, right?” Bakugou winces over the Bakusquad’s ploy coming to light and makes a note not to follow along next time unless those dummies can scrape up a more elaborate plan.
Despite that, he presses on, “So, what does this mean?” A smile settles on the curve of your lips, sensing his impatience as his voice hastens you along.
“Well…” you begin, speech drawn out in anticipation as you step toward him to where Bakugou follows your movements. That is until he catches a few shadowy figures shifting around atop the small building behind you. Before you can open your mouth to continue, his instincts flare to life.
“Hey, look out!” he exclaims, already acting on his warnings by lunging forward to push you out of the way. Your breaths draw back into your lungs, your body thrust abruptly into the opposite direction. Landing on your butt, you wince at both the shock and the pain, but your whines desist when you witness Bakugou taking a force to the head as a result of coming to your aid.
“Katsuki!” you yell, immediately getting off the ground to rush to his side, but he can’t find it in himself to respond. Afflicted with a substantial blow to the crown of his head, his whole being throbs and his vision spins.
Fuck, is Y/n, okay? is the first thing on his mind, ignoring the liquid trickling down his forehead. His question is answered upon turning his head to meet your anxious expression—your eyes wide and lips quivering as they move to say words he can’t exactly make out beneath the pounding sensations consuming his mind. As he feels a set of arms wrap around him, he tries discerning his surroundings to form a reply, but can only capture bits and pieces.
“—tsuki! ...old… n!”
“...god—! I’m so dead!”
A sputter of words tangling together is the last he hears before his vision fades to black.
.
.
The next time Bakugou awakes, his eyes slowly sever open to come face-to-face with a blurry white ceiling. The lights assault his vision as his senses take time to adjust, unraveling the environment to realize he’s laying on a bed—a hospital bed to be precise.
He attempts lifting himself but is met with retaliation in the form of his pulsating head which he immediately flinches at. His hand goes to rub his scalp to soothe the ache and he finds bandages wrapped tightly around him. “What the hell happened?” The last he remembers is traversing the urban area with you for the capture the flag mission before finally confronting the subject that had been plaguing your minds for a week now. After that, he caught sight of some object descending toward you and before he had even realized it, his feet had moved on their own. Next thing he knows, he’s waking up in the nurse’s office with a headache from hell.
Wait, what about you? Were you okay? Surely, he had to have pushed you out of the way in time, right?
His head moves quicker than it should’ve, revealing the other hospital bed in the room to be unoccupied, vacant. He sighs and his relief is further bolstered by the door to the nurse’s room opening to unveil you unharmed with only your heavy look of concern troubling him.
“Katsuki, oh thank god, you’re okay!” you say, quickly pacing over to his side with a glass of water in hand. You leave it at his bedside, sitting before him. Gauging your appearance up and down, Bakugou tries making out even the smallest details.
“You aren’t hurt?”
You’re appalled he would ask this despite clearly being the one patched up in a hospital bed right now, and likely sporting some serious head trauma.
“Of course I am, you’re the one that lunged forward to protect me,” you tell him. Bakugou looks down at his lap, figuring that was what happened, but hearing it from you comforted him more than he thought. However, his comfort is wretched from him by the intense pressure persisting in his skull. Seeing him in pain, you urge him to lay down and rest.
“How the hell did I end up here anyway?”
You fidget with your fingers, hesitating on answering. At that, the blond lifts a brow, suspicious.
“Mineta… accidentally dropped a rock on your head.”
“...You gotta be joking, right?”
Bakugou leers hard, finding the reason he was out of commission to be a damn pebble hitting his head a detriment to his pride. And because of Mineta of all fucking people. Still, if he hadn’t acted as quickly as he did, you would’ve been the one to meet his fate instead, and he weighed this outcome to better than the former.
Then you explain how the teachers had temporarily intervened to bring his unconscious body to the nurse’s, where the old lady went about tending to his injury. Said she did her job and all he needed was to rest and let her quirk take fuller effect within that time.
“So did we win the game?” He switches the topic to today’s mission of capture the flag that was cut short on his end.
You shake your head, but at least grant him the benefit of knowing Mineta’s team ended up placing last. At that, his eyelids shut and he crosses his arms behind his bandaged head. “Yeah, well, it wasn’t my intention to win anyway.”
You give him a look. “...Liar.”
Bakugou cracks an eye open at you. “Hah? What do you mean I’m a fucking liar?”
“I know you, Katsuki. I dated you, after all. And the Katsuki that I dated is an arrogant, competitive jerk who thinks of being the best above all else.” Bakugou scrunches his nose, wondering what you’re implying through your... overly frank descriptions. “Still… he’s sweet and caring at times… and reliable when he needs to be,” you continue, tone softening that draws Bakugou in, “And the kind of guy I want to give a second chance to.”
Absorbing your words, Bakugou blinks. “S-Seriously?” He doesn’t mean to stutter, but the offer catches him off-guard. He replays what you just said. That’s what he heard, right? A second chance?
You giggle at how uncharacteristically astonished he sounds. “Yes, seriously.”
“Does that mean you forgive me for what happened last week?”
You hum between pursed lips in playful contemplation. “Well, maybe you can redeem yourself by going on another date with me then?”
Hearing your proposal, a wide grin arcs his lips, edging into a smirk.
“That’s it? Well, I can definitely fucking do that,” he states, confidence rejuvenating his body at the new, hopeful chance before him.
“Oh, just one more thing though,” you suddenly add.
“What?”
“We are not going to that Chinese Restaurant again.”
Luka’s boat party at the Seine, something you’ve been looking forward for the past week.
Well, It’s not really a party.
A small get together with great people, good music and drinks.
This is the first time you’ve been invited to one of these parties and Marinette has told you many times that it’s going to be one to remember, even if it is lowkey.
Plus, you could warm up to more people other than the small circle of friends you have at college.
“Woah.” You say without even realising as you look around at the balloons and fairy lights all over the place.
As soon as you enter you see the place peppered with a few people, some people you’ve never seen in your entire life and some familiar faces from college.
Marinette and Alya were by your side, you walked to the boat with them.
“Juleka and Luka live here?” You ask.
“Yeah but Luka’s trying to find a new apartment right now.” Marinette says.
As if on cue, the blue haired boy makes his way over to you guys.
“Welcome ladies.” He says and smiles at all of you. “As usual, make yourselves comfortable, get some drinks and enjoy yourselves.”
“Hey look there’s Adrien!” You say and you were about to go greet him until you felt someone grab your hand, stopping you.
“Thanks Luka, the party looks amazing.” You compliment.
Your eyes fall onto a familiar blond and you smile.
You turn around and see Marinette, shaking her head. “That’s not Adrien, that’s Felix.”
“What the fuck is he doing here?” Alya asks, gasping.
Marinette shrugs. “I have no clue, Adrien probably invited him.”
“I swear to god if that little blond bitch tries me again I won’t hesitate to kick him in the balls this time.”
“I think Alya needs a drink.” Luka chuckles and Alya nods angrily.
“Who’s Felix?” You ask and the three turn to look at you.
You look at them confused as to what they were talking about.
You could’ve sworn that he was Adrien, he looks exactly like him except his hair was straighter and neater. He reminded you of Draco Malfoy from Harry potter.
“The spawn of satan.” Alya mutters, rolling her eyes and sipping on her drink.
Marinette sighs and steals Alya’s drink from her hand.
“Hey!”
“That’s Felix, Adriens cousin. He’s kind of the complete opposite of Adrien.” Marinette explains.
“Meaning…?” You trail off.
“Meaning he’s a douchebag.” Alya states.
“Alya come on.” Marinette groans.
“Nope, she has a point.” Luka intervenes.
“Listen girl, when we were in middle school he sent us a video of him pretending to be Adrien and telling us how much he hates us.” Alya tells you and crosses her arms over her chest. “And last summer Adrien invited him to the beach with us and he didn’t even talk to us or swim because he’s worried that his pretty porcelain skin will get burnt. Trust me, the last thing you want to do is talk to him.” Alya says and snatches her drink back from Marinette before walking off.
“What Alya is trying to say is that yeah, he’s rude and yeah, kind of a douche too but don’t worry about him too much, he doesn’t really talk to any of us.”
He honestly sounded horrible.
I mean, not talking to them is one thing but almost ruining Adriens friendship with everyone is something else.
“Yeah because he hates us.” Luka says and Marinette glares at him which causes Luka to chuckle.
“Hey guys!” finally, the actual Adrien Agreste has come to talk to you guys.
“Hey Adrien.” You say and smile at him before giving him a friendly kiss on the cheek.
Marinette does the same to him and before quirking her eyebrow up. “Kagami isn’t here?” She asks.
“No she has to study for her exam tomorrow.” Adrien says and rubs the back of his neck awkwardly.
“Uh-huh.” Marinette narrows her eyes at him suspiciously but doesn’t say anything more.
“Oh yeah, guys, Felix is here.” Adrien laughs nervously.
“Adrien.” A voice chimes in.
It belonged to the notorious Felix who was now standing behind Adrien.
“Hey Felix.” Marinette says, smiling at him.
The blond furrows his eyebrows at her and rolls his eyes. “Adrien can we-“ He stops when he looks at you.
“Hi.” You say your name and hold your hand out. “It’s nice to meet you.” You say and he walks closer to you.
You gulp and chuckle awkwardly.
Knowing this guys attitude, you were scared about what he would say about you.
He takes you hand and shakes it. “I’m Felix, it’s nice to meet you too.” He says, a small smile on his face.
Everyone around you widens their eyes at the sight before them.
You look down and notice that he was still shaking your hand, looking at you, dazed.
Maybe he had too much to drink?
He removes his hand from yours quickly and you notice his cheeks tinting red. “Nothing.” He says and walks away.
Adrien clears his throat and pats him on the shoulder, snapping him out of it.
“What did you want to tell me Felix?”
“What. The. Fuck.” Marinette gapes. “I swear, when I met him for the first time he didn’t even shake my hand let alone smile at me.”
You felt like you were on the spot and ultimately it made you feel uncomfortable.
“Maybe he’s drunk or something?” You say and shrug.
“Felix doesn’t drink.” Adrien states.
You gulp. “Well I do.” You chuckle nervously and walk away from them to get a drink for yourself.
You move past people, muttering ‘excuse me’ as you walk to the little table where the drinks were. You pour yourself a drink.
“I’m not Adrien you brat.” You hear someone say and you instantly turn around.
“Ohhhhhhh…” A girl slurs. She was laughing against Felix, who looked incredibly uncomfortable with her presence. “doesn’t matter, we can still have a good time together.”
You watch Felix look around him and sigh, he didn’t even know what to say to her.
“I don’t want to.” He states.
“Why you got a girl or something?” She asks, sipping on her drink and hopping to the beat of the music.
You didn’t even realise that your body moved on it’s own.
“Yeah he does.” You say and walk over to Felix, kissing him on the cheek. “Here’s your drink babe.” You say and wink at him.
The colour of his face matched that of a tomato right now and he slowly took the drink from you, laughing nervously. “T-thank you.” He stutters out.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know.” The girl apologises.
“Are you okay?” You ask him, slightly smiling. “I could tell you were uncomfortable.”
“You’re good.” You shrug and grab Felix’s hand, “Au revoir!” You wave before dragging Felix elsewhere.
You found a secluded area on the boat near the railings. You figured he needed some air.
“Yes, I appreciate it.” He says, looking at the sea. “Thank you.”
You stare at him.
Since you’re getting a closer look at him you realise that he actually has different features from Adrien which you don’t notice at first.
His nose was a little longer with a few freckles peppered across it.
His skin was fairer, in fact it was so fair that every time he blushes you can see it evident on his cheeks and the tip of his nose.
His eyes were more narrowed but still held the same beautiful green, maybe felixs’ was more vibrant.
“What the hell did you put in this?” He asks.
You watch his long fingers curl against the cup tighter before sipping the drink.
His face contorts after.
“Liquor.” You state, chuckling. “What you can’t take the alcohol Felix?” You tease.
He scoffs, “Of course I can. Watch me.” He says and downs the rest of what was in the cup.
He looked really cute when he’s laughing.
He starts coughing after he finishes and cusses under his breath.
“That was strong shit.” He says and wipes his mouth with the back of his hand.
You start laughing, clutching your stomach as you do so.
You hear him slowly join in on your laughter soon after and you slightly open your eyes to see him.
“you know…” He says, wiping some lose tears from his eyes from the laughter “I don’t have many friends so I’m not really used to laughing like this.”
“Why don’t you try making more friends?” You asked him.
“Why am I any different?” You ask. “I mean, you barely talk to Marinette or any of Adriens friends.”
He shrugged at you and leaned against the railings.
“I don’t particularly like being around a lot of people, nor do I really enjoy people in general.” He mumbles, looking down. “But that’s just how I was brought up I guess.”
He stares at the floor boards and sighs. “When I saw you, my first thought wasn’t “oh she’s just one of Adriens friends” or “she’s probably going to talk to me because has to because ‘hey I’m known as Adriens spoiled rich cousin’” my first thought was ‘wow, she’s absolutely beautiful and she’s new around here, she doesn’t know of who I am so maybe I actually have a chance with someone. Even if it’s just a friend.”
You cut him of by getting on your tip toes and giving him a small kiss on the lips.
His comment made your cheeks heat up and a small smile twitch on your lips.
“Sorry if it makes you uncomfortable, it’s probably the damn alcohol, I have no idea what shit im spurring out let alone-“
His mouth parts and his eyes were wide. “Maybe it’s the alcohol too or maybe I just wanted you to stop talking.” You whisper.
“I will kiss you again, only if you stop thinking that Adriens friends talk to you because they have to. You’re a sweet guy and you shouldn’t feel left out.” You tilt your head and place a hand on his cheek.
He was frozen. It was a cute sight but you were scared that you terrified the poor guy.
Suddenly he leans in for another kiss but you place a finger on his lips to stop him.
He stares into your eyes for a moment, as if trying to look for something other than the truth.
You could see the green properly, his eyes were glistening, like he had stars in them.
Felix cups your face with both hands and pulls you into a kiss, a deep one.
You may not know him very well but this moment with him felt right, you didn’t see him as just Adriens cousin. He was more than that.
He was Felix and right now with every movement of his lips against yours, you felt butterflies fluttering around your stomach.
“Hey guys.” You wave awkwardly to them and chuckle.
You hear someone clear their throat which makes you pull away from the kiss. You turn around and see your group of friends staring at you.
Alya had her hand clasped over her mouth.
Nino was wide eyed.
Marinette was smirking at you.
Adrien was smiling awkwardly.
“We’ve been looking for you everywhere girl! We didn’t know you were sharing spit with Felix.” Alya exclaims walking up to you. “Is he forcing you into doing something because I swear to god I will-“
“no no Alya, I’m the one who kissed him.” You say, smiling sheepishly.
“Why?” She deadpans, looking at you confused.
“Cesaire.” Felix says walking up to Alya. He clears his throat. “Are you still running that little blog of yours?”
Alya narrows her eyes at him, crossing her arms over her chest. “Yes.”
“It’s…” He stops and looks at you, as if for a moment, he’s remembering what you were talking about before. “It’s great. Even people In England are talking about it.”
Alya’s jaw drops. “Holy shit, really?”
Felix nods and you smile at him, knowing that he’s really trying.
“Nino! The ladyblog went international!” She exclaims and goes to hug her boyfriend.
You mentally thank him and he sends you a small wink before holding your hand.
Maybe you were the key to him finally being himself in front of others.
Maybe you could even become his everything.
