the san jose mineta international airport was bustling with people as samy, gabe, and ryan stepped off their gate. the two boys immediately shedded their coats once the humid temperatures hit their skin, especially with how many people shoved their way throughâit made it feel hot really fast. samy glanced down at her phone where she texted will that they just landed.
"holy shit it's fucking hot," ryan mumbled, already fanning himself out.
"i told you it would be hot. i think will's outside waiting," the girl informed and began leading the way to the exit. this was only her second time navigating the airport, the first time will managed to get them out so she just hoped she wouldn't get herself lost.
the three were excited for the weekend ahead. after weeks of planning around three hockey players' schedules, the four managed to find a weekend before the craziness of the holidays picked up and world juniors began to visit their old friend in his new stomping grounds. gabe and ryan hadn't been yet, so the two were looking forward to a good game of hockey on saturday and spending the rest of it with their best friend.
luckily, samy was able to easily follow the overhead signs straight towards the exit. it was helpful that they didn't have any bags to pickup and just flew with carry-ons. when the three made it to the already long pickup line, their eyes scanned for will's bronco.
"i see him!" gabe pointed towards a tall blonde and brunette leaning against the car waving their hands. a grin spread across each of their faces as they made their way towards will. he met them in the middle, hugging samy first.
"hi, it's so good to see you here again," the blonde squeezed her torso, a large grin on his features.
"i missed you. it's good to see you too," the brunette hummed and quickly pecked his lips before gabe and ryan started arguing for their turn to hug will.
she stepped aside to let them have their turns, hugging macklin in the meantime. "hey hughesy, long time no see," the younger brunette chuckled.
"back at ya, mack," she ruffled up his hair and caught a glimpse of the other three boys group hugging one another. the sight brought another smile to her lips seeing them reunite and the genuine happiness on their expressions.
"jeez, i can't believe you live here now, smitty. you got it good," ryan patted his shoulder.
"i could get used to the warmth. it's like 40° in boston or something," gabe shared the sentiments and the wide smile on will's lips made samy's heart explode with joy.
"welcome to luxury for the weekend. let's get in before some car honks at me," will pulled everyone back to the car where he helped get everyone's luggage into the back.
"shit, this is fucking nice. you wanna share some of this with us?" ryan patted the side of will's car, admiring how sleek and pristine it looked compared to his mom's suv they all used to drive around in michigan.
"we can split 50/50," the blonde teased.
"you're gonna be living in luxury future mrs. smith," gabe commented as they climbed into the car, samy obviously getting the front while the other three squeezed themselves into the back.
both samy and will's cheeks flushed hearing gabe call her "mrs. smith." she glanced over at her boyfriend who smiled sweetly at her, reaching over to squeeze her hand. hearing mrs. smith sent crazy butterflies through his chest because he could not wait until the day it was finally true.
"ew get a room," macklin called when he watched their exchange and his friend's large blush.
"fuck off," will mumbled earning a joint laughter from everyone. samy just squeezed his hand back telling him she didn't mind the teasing while also shooting a glance back to macklin who just shrugged.
they pulled out of the pickup line, escaping anyone beeping at them to get moving. will got onto the main road and the two boys in the back suddenly became amazed at how summery everything looked still despite it being in the middle of december. the palm trees stood tall and the warmer breeze felt so refreshing on their skin compared to the harsh boston wind on the other side of the country. samy drew her window down so even more breeze could come through and her hair quickly flew back against the seat. will's gaze swept over her figure, a glowing wave of happiness on his features having his girlfriend and best friends in the city he called home for the weekend.
"so what are the plans for this weekend?" ryan wondered.
"well the game's on saturday, but tomorrow we have all day to do whatever you guys want. some of my teammates wanna meet you all. you especially," will nudged his girlfriend's hand.
"me?" she raised her eyebrow.
"you're the talk of the locker room. eklund and bordeleau especially wanna meet you," macklin explained from the back and the youngest hughes' cheeks flushed.
"wow, i'm flattered they wanna meet me," the girl chuckled.
"they gotta make sure the wifey is up to their standards," gabe snickered and nudged her shoulder. she rolled her eyes a bit, wondering where this whole "wife" thing was coming from.
"also the fact that you were a hockey pro in your past life and with your brothers being in town tomorrow they wanna meet all of you guys," macklin added.
it was shaping up to be a very special weekend in the silicon valley. the devils were coming to san jose for the redemption match from a few weeks ago and the sharks were eager to prove themselves to their fans in the sap center on saturday night. having the devils in town meant 3/4 of the hughes siblings were gonna all be together and will couldn't be more excited to have some of his closest people at an arm's length for the first time in awhile. samy, too, was excited to see jack and luke who she hasn't seen since summer ended. it was really gonna feel like a michigan summer for three days.
"hey, wait, can we make a detour to the beach?" ryan quickly spoke up when he caught glimpses of the billboards that had the beaches plastered all over them that made him instantly think of sinking his feet into the warm sand and splashing around in the ocean.
"you wanna go to the beach?" will caught his friend's gaze through the rearview.
"i know it's out of the way but i haven't been to the beach in so long. come on," the brunette encouraged.
"i mean, okay. i don't have my swimsuit or anything, but sure," the blonde chuckled and quickly shifted lanes to take the exit towards santa cruz.
"who cares? we've made you jump into water with your clothes on," ryan laughed and will remembered fondly the time he jumped into someone's pool fully clothed on a dare.
"mind you that was my pool," samy cut in and the boys grinned.
"all the more reason then," will took the exit towards santa cruz.
it added another 45 minutes to the drive, but it was worth when as soon as will parked the car on one of the side roads ryan and gabe were rushing towards the water. will let out a laugh as he let them go ahead. "come on," samy urged, tugging her boyfriend's hand as they followed after them.
with it being december, the sand was the perfect temperate on their feet. it wasn't too hot like it usually would be during the summer where they couldn't even stand on the sand without having shoes on. gabe and ryan's shoes and clothes were lost the closer they got the the water and by the time samy, will, and macklin made it down, the two were splashing each other in nothing but their shorts. a laughed escaped the three's lips watching their friends tackle one another.
"i'll race you guys," samy said as she began stripping herself of her own clothes, not caring about being in her bra and underwear in the middle of the beach. will's eyes went wide when her top came off and her pants quickly followed. he swallowed thickly seeing her in nothing but her underwear. macklin didn't hesitate joining her though.
"last one in is a rotten egg!" macklin exclaimed and ran off ahead.
will quickly snapped out of his slight daze to rid himself of his shirt and pants, racing down behind his girlfriend and macklin. he tried reaching out for samy, but she was faster and made it into the water before will could get his hands on her. he admitted his defeat of being the last one in.
"loser gets splashed!" gabe exclaimed and immediately kicked water in will's direction. the others followed suit and the poor blonde was drenched in seconds.
"okay, okay," he called for them to stop, wiping his face off.
"god, i could live here forever," ryan fell onto his back like a starfish as he floated atop the light waves.
the blonde's gaze fell to samy again and this time he was able to reach her and bring her into his arms. she giggled at his quick affection and the longing look in his eyes he directed at her. "what?" she hummed, flushing as she watched his gaze dip below her face towards the rest of her bare skin and then back up.
"nothing. i'm glad you're here. i love you," will leaned down to kiss the top of her head and squeeze her hip.
"i love you too. can't wait to see you play in your home arena," she brushed some of his now loose, wet curls away from his forehead.
"mhm, i can't wait to see you up in the stands. i've missed seeing you there," it was still a hard adjustment for will to go from having samy at every single one of his games for two years to her not being there at all unless she visited. he always thought she brought him good luck whenever she was there.
"i've missed being there," she lifted herself onto her tiptoes to give a wet kiss to his cheek. the blonde blushed and tugged her even closer into his side like if he let go she'd disappear.
"guys, what did we talk about. no pda around us," macklin teased again and the couple flushed. samy stepped out of her boyfriend's grasp much to his dismay and reluctance to let her go, a small frustrated sigh leaving his lips.
"you get used to it," gabe chuckled, winking towards his friends. "i spent every night listening to them on the phone together last year."
"hey, you got to talk to me everyday," samy argued a bit.
"you're right, i did and i enjoyed getting to say hi to you every night," the dark-haired boy agreed.
the five spent another fifteen minutes splashing around before deciding they should head back or else mrs. marleau would start thinking they got lost on their way back to the house. will managed to find some old towels in the back that everyone dried themselves off with.
"thanks for this, smitty. that was fun," ryan said once they were back in the car.
"of course. glad i could fill your beach desires," the blonde smiled and got them back on the highway towards san jose.
for the rest of the ride back up to the silicon valley, the five filled the car ride with everything that's happened so far. gabe and ryan told stories of all the parties, the girls, the games, and the classes which definitely made will and macklin miss being in boston as college students. the rookies went back and forth talking about san jose so far, but all of it were things already talked about through facetime or over the phone. they started talking about world juniors coming up and ryan's possible captaincy.
"dude, you're totally gonna get it. no doubt about it," macklin added and the others agreed. they knew how hard ryan's worked all year in addition to being alternate for boston this season, there was a really good chance he would make it and gabe would be an alternate.
"don't jinx it guys. they won't announce it for another few weeks," the brunette shook his head a bit while also brushing off the praise because on the inside he was really excited and confident he'd get captain.
"jinx it? it's basically in the bag, lean. you're gonna get it," will laughed and the topic of world juniors got all of them talking about who they thought would win the tournament this year.
the marleau home was about to be completely full this weekend with ten people in the house, but christina and patrick didn't mind. they loved having friendly faces in their space and any friend of will's was a friend of theirs. the boys were excited to talk to patrick about his experience in the nhl knowing he'd have great advice for them whenever they made their transition.
after dropping macklin back off, the four of them were greeted similarly to how samy was greeted when she came three weeks ago. patrick was off the couch and christina came out from the hallway with her boys behind her.
"ryan leonard and gabe petreault, it's great to finally meet you both. i've heard so many good things," patrick hugged each of them.
"we were worried you guys got lost on your way back to the house," christina chuckled.
"no, we just had to make a stop at the beach per ryan's request," will explained and the brunette grinned making the family laugh.
"ah, that makes more sense. i can tell you guys are a bit wet," christina observed the four's damp hair.
"thank you so much for having us this weekend. it's an honor to stay in your home," gabe cut in with a grin, waving a hi to the younger sons.
"of course. our home is your home this weekend. we figured it would work out perfectly since the six of us will be at grandparents tomorrow night into sunday, so we won't be in your way or anything," christina greeted each of them with a hug as well once patrick finished his hellos.
"well, thank you again. we appreciate it a lot," ryan echoed gabe's sentiments.
"you guys play for boston college, right?" brody wondered and the older boys nodded.
"we do. you thinking about going there?" ryan asked and he chuckled when the younger marleau flushed and glanced at his dad like he knew.
"it's whatever you decide, bud," patrick chuckled too and reached over to squeeze his son's shoulder.
"well, if you ever have questions, we're the guys to ask, but you probably already asked smitty all that already," gabe pointed to the blonde behind him who rolled his eyes a bit.
"i'll show you guys where you'll sleep," will motioned towards the stairs to lead everyone to their rooms. the marleau house was huge, so everyone had their own rooms plus two guest rooms. the second one was where gabe and ryan would be sleeping.
"shit, this is nice. you're living the good life here," ryan jumped onto the bed and the mattress sunk in around him.
"i better not hear you guys going at it," gabe teased the couple still lingering in the doorway. ryan snickered but the other two flushed in embarrassment.
"i'll rake that as my cue to leave. i'll let you guys catch up some more," samy quickly laughed off their teasing before disappearing to will's room to put her things down.
will eyed his friends once she was gone while ryan and gabe just shrugged, "what? i guess some things never change," gabe smiled.
"you guys are so immature," the blonde shook his head.
"how've you been though? good? sharks good?" ryan became somewhat serious for a second which always seemed to happen after a good laugh.
"yeah, it's been really good. i mean..it's my dreamâour dream?âcome true. i love it," will admitted becoming a bit sappy, but the boys smiled wider nonetheless.
"i mean it looks like the dream, man. you're a fucking california star with your new bronco and cool ass mentor to stay with for the season," the brunette got up to rough up his friend's shoulders like any best friend would. gabe shared the sentiments.
"we're proud of you, you know. this is all really great," their words warmed will's heart. he worried a lot that he left boston too soon, but he was glad his old line mates didn't think he made the wrong choice.
"you and hughesy still doing good?" ryan lowered his voice a little.
"yeah, we're good. we've been adjusting well and i'm glad i've gotten to see her so many times already," will nodded.
"good, glad to hear that. we think she's been doing better at managing everything, so don't worry about that. we got her back," the hockey player appreciated hearing his friends say that. he still hated being so far away in times that samy picked herself apart for things that didn't even matter, but he felt better knowing his friends were looking after her and the other guys in michigan when he couldn't.
"thanks, i'm glad you do," the three exchanged heartfelt smiles.
"now, enough of being all sappy and cheesy, i want a grand tour of this city," ryan exclaimed making will laugh.
"you got it, lean. i'll show you guys all my favorite places tomorrow," the blonde let the guys unpack and settle themselves in. he stuck his head back into his room where samy had changed into drier clothes. she smiled seeing her boyfriend.
"hi," she grinned.
"hi, sorry about the teasing. i guess they haven't given it up yet," will laughed, but the girl shook her head.
"please, you should know i don't care anymore. they're funny," samy assured and that made the boy smile. he was glad things like teasing from the guys didn't ever bother her.
now that they were alone, will took that as his opportunity to take her back into his arms. he shuffled closer to her and wrapped his arms around her waist, a bright smile on his features.
"i feel like a really lucky guy with how many times i've been able to see you," will hummed.
"i'm really lucky i get to see you too. i'm glad we made this happen with them. i know you really wanted it to," she pushed some of will's stray curls away again and he flushed under her touch.
"thank you for being so persistent with it and working it out for us. it probably never would've happened if it was just us planning," they shared a heartfelt laugh. it was true. will, ryan, and gabe sucked at planning anything when it came to trying to hang out.
"you're funny, will, but you're welcome. i know i already said this but i'm really looking forward to watching you play tomorrow," her words erupted more butterflies through the boy's chest along with a hot blush from his neck to the tips of his ears.
"wouldn't want it any other way having you guys here," the blonde leaned down to place a better kiss to samy's lips. she reached up to meet him in the middle.
a soft hum escaped will's lips at the feeling of his girlfriend's lips against his. even though they just saw one another three weeks ago, he'd never get tired of kissing her pretty lips and the feeling it created in his body after being apart. samy shifted so her hand was on the back of will's neck pushing him closer. the hockey player tightened his grip on her hip in response, wanting her as close as physically possible.
will began losing himself in the kiss. his other hand tangled in samy's hair not really caring that it was still wet or the fact that he hadn't changed out of his semi damp clothes still. anytime he could get his lips on samy's it was hard to pull him away.
however, a knock pulled them apart. they whipped around and saw ryan and gabe lingering in the doorway that will forgot to close the door to. a large blush spread across both of their faces.
"shit, sorry. maybe we should count how many times we catch you guys in the act," gabe teased.
"what do you want?" will wondered.
"just coming to bother you guys," ryan came further into the room, jumping onto the bed like he did in the other room.
"typical," samy giggled.
"if only all the other guys were here then it'd really feel like a reunion," gabe hummed and a slight frown appeared on will's face. he felt bad that the other guys couldn't make it out, but he knew the marleau's would not have room to house all eight of them.
"maybe when i'm moved back into my own apartment i'll have everyone over," will said.
the guys liked that idea. as much as will was annoyed at them for interrupting his moment with samy again, he liked seeing the happiness on each of their faces as they settled into will's room to spend more time together. it felt like one of those summer days where after a long day on the boat, everyone would crowd into one room to just talk, and considering will probably wouldn't see gabe and ryan until next summer, he decided to enjoy the moment. he joined them on the bed, opening his arms up for samy to climb in next to him. ryan sat on the other side while gabe hung off the end. the two boys were like little kids going their parents' rooms at night to bother them before bed.
â
everyone was up fairly early the next morning, or early in will's eyes and late in everyone else's because they were still on central and eastern time so it technically wasn't late to samy, ryan, and gabe. the four got an early start knowing they had a lot to do with seeing the city and then catching dinner with jack and luke later when they landed.
of course, will picked up macklin on the way. the younger brunette climbed into the car with a smile. "morning everyone," he cheered.
they rode into the city where samy was already familiar with the strip of shops and tall buildings. will parked on one of the side streets, digging out his credit card to pay for parking before they all took off. samy slipped in faster, her card going through before will could pay. he snapped his gaze towards her.
"baby, you didn't have to pay," he immediately protested as samy grabbed the receipt.
"you paid way too much for me last time so i'm returning the favor," she argued with a little smile.
"you don't have to do that. you know i don't care," will countered but the girl shook her head.
"i love you," she pecked his lips and hurried to catch up with the others.
the five walked up and down the main street where gabe and ryan poked their heads into almost every store. samy had her camera out to catch all the candids that would most definitely make their random contract/photo dump posting.
"do you think i should buy this?" ryan wondered while trying on a pair of sunglasses. they were big and square which took up almost half of his face.
"for sure, lean. you look great," macklin chuckled and the others agreed.
"i'm sure julianne would love them on you," samy teased and the brunette rolled his eyes as he put them back on the rack.
"oh, i think samy should get this," gabe grabbed ahold of a shirt that said "i love #2." will's cheeks flushed but samy quickly grinned.
"wait i should. i can wear it tomorrow night," the girl looked at her boyfriend who was a blushing mess.
"you'll definitely catch the attention with that," ryan teased as well. samy was serious about buying the shirt. she grabbed her size off the rack and went straight to the register while will just tried hiding his face of the deep blush that crept onto it.
he still got hot with blush anytime samy showed up wearing something that told people she was his because if anything, he thought it should be the other way around and people should know he was hers.
"i think we should all buy them. we can twin," gabe went to grab one for himself with ryan quickly following. will just shook his head, but smiled nonetheless.
they continued on once the three of them had their shirts. will showed them all of his favorite spots in the city so far, the places him and macklin went to get lunch, the places their other teammates took them after a good game.
ryan and gabe marveled in the warmth and the beauties of the silicon valley. they looked like dads whenever they pulled their phones out to take pictures of the scenery. will hung back letting his friends take the lead and explore whatever they wanted to. samy eventually dropped back to check in with him where he wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"you doing good?" she wondered.
"perfect. you?" he asked and the girl nodded.
"same. perfect," they shared a smile and a quick kiss on the cheek. samy's never seen her boyfriend look so weightless like he didn't have any stress on his shoulders or anything. it was probably because hanging out with ryan and gabe was easing any of the anxieties he was feeling about the game tomorrow.
will took a hold of her camera to flip it around. he wanted a selfie of them, using his longer arms to get both of them in frame. the girl smiled widely while will turned to kiss her cheek as he took the picture. when the preview came up on the screen they both grinned.
by the time they finished exploring, it was time to meet luke and jack at the restaurant they discussed beforehand. the brothers were already inside, waving when they caught sight of the group coming in. samy rushed forward to greet her brothers, both of them standing to scoop her into their arms.
"hi squirt. good to see you," jack cheered.
"it's so good to see you guys too," samy smiled.
"wow you already look tan," luke laughed as he noticed his sister's already darker complexion.
"lean, gp, celly, smitty, good to see all of you," jack dapped up each of the boys followed by luke.
"thanks for catching dinner with us," will said, pulling out samy's seat for her as they finally sat down.
"wouldn't ever pass up an opportunity to see our sister. it's crazy we're all here at the same time. i feel like it's summer right now," luke pinched samy's arm where she swatted his hand away.
"i was just saying that. i could get used to this warm weather," ryan laughed.
the boys quickly filled the conversation with hockey which samy expected. it was a good thing she liked it as much as them to talk about it the entire dinner. will's hand stayed on her thigh most of the time as his small reminder to him and herself that he was beside her. neither of them were huge on pda, but the little things liked that were enjoyable because they could still be close without making someone comment on it. the blonde occasionally watched his girlfriend interact with everyone, loving the relationship she had with her brothers and everyone else. she never missed a beat when they poked about hockey or talked about soccer. god, he was so lucky.
when the waiter came back around to ask if checks were going to be separate or all one, will immediately began to speak, but jack beat him to it.
"all one, thanks," the older hughes brother grinned.
"wait, you don't have to pay for us," ryan cut in before anyone could mention it.
"i don't mind. call it our treat," jack nudged luke's arm who nodded.
"jack," samy began but the boy shook his head. he wasn't gonna take any more protests about paying. the two brothers were feeling joyful with it being the holidays soon and paying for everyone's dinner was the least they could do.
"thank you, man. i appreciate it," will said and everyone else echoed his words.
"no problem. maybe this will act as a peace treaty when we beat you again tomorrow," jack always liked starting a little friendly fire. gabe and ryan oohed while will and macklin just shook their heads.
the waiter came back around with the check. jack quickly took out his card and handed it right back to her to ring it up, not even thinking twice. the others smiled.
when everything was fully paid for, everyone said their goodbyes until tomorrow. "see ya tomorrow, squirt. mom said she wanted a picture of all of us at some point, so we'll find you," luke said and the girl nodded.
when everyone got back to the house they were pretty tired from the day so a movie night in was quickly decided. with the marleau family gone for the weekend, they had the entire living room to themselves. samy put on her new shirt and when she came back out of the bathroom, will was blushing from head to toe again. he drank in her entire appearance that was only her new shirt and her little sleep shorts, subconsciously licking his lips.
"you like it?" the brunette giggled when she saw her boyfriend's lustful expression.
"you drive me up the wall," will mumbled, bringing her flush against his chest again.
"do i now?" she taunted a bit making the rookie curse to himself. he latched his lips back onto hers, not being able to control his urge to kiss her.
she reciprocated his actions, opening her mouth further for his tongue to fight its way in. like always, will's hands wandered across her hipsâa feeling of possessiveness washing over him knowing she would be wearing this shirt tomorrow in front of all the fans in the arena. will was never one to be jealous or possessive all the time, but sometimes he got these little moments like right now where all he could think about was how proud he was gonna feel when everyone knew jack and luke's little sister was his girlfriend.
"we should get back downstairs," samy mumbled when they pulled apart for a second. both of their chests rose and fell against one another, panting for air.
"they'll be fine without us for twenty minutes," the blonde mumbled, pulling the girl back to his lips in another feverish kiss.
when they did eventually make it downstairs, ryan and gabe gave both of them a look that definitely told the couple they knew. gabe held up five fingers towards ryan and mouthed "you owe me $5 now," because they 100% betted on what was taking will and samy so long to join them.
â
the sap center was crowded and electric when the three made it inside after will dropped them off around the front. a few fans recognized the trio, immediately wanting autographs or a picture. samy loved taking photos with fans, so she was all for it, especially in their matching "i love #2" shirts.
"let's find our seats," ryan insisted once they were done talking with fans. he led them into the rink where the sharks were warming up. will, who had been looking for them to come in, caught samy's eye and waved her down.
"will wants to see us," she tugged on ryan's arm.
the brunette glanced down at the blonde who was waving them over. they turned around to get themselves down to the floor. will skated up to the open door, lifting his helmet up as he grinned. a few other guys skated after will that wasn't macklin.
"hey, my teammates wanted to say hi. you've been the talk since i mentioned you were coming," the blonde explained and his other teammates lifted up their helmets as well.
"will eklund. that's tom bordeleau. we've heard a lot about you," the older blonde stuck his hand out to shake samy's hand and then gabe and ryan.
"i've heard. nice to meet you guys," samy grinned.
"i like the shirts. didn't know pup had so many fans," tom teased a bit and nudged will's arm who blushed.
"we're his #1 fans if you couldn't tell," the girl giggled.
"oh we can tell. super cool meeting you hughes and gabe and ryan. we'll catch up some more after the game," eklund and bordeleau grinned as they skated back onto the ice.
"i'll see you guys after," will leaned forward to press a quick kiss to samy's lips. he bumped fists with gabe and ryan before skating back on to finish warmups.
ryan led them back to their seats a few rows up behind the glass. the brunette searched for her brothers and found them over by the bench. luke was also looking for his sister in the stands. he found all of them and quickly waved towards the three. they waved back.
"damn, i forgot how crazier this is than college hockey," gabe muttered as he took in the arena's excessive amount of seats and fans lining each one of them.
"it feels the same to me but bigger," ryan said with a chuckle.
"are you gonna end up getting one of those wag jackets?" gabe teased a bit, nudging the girl's arm beside him. she flushed.
"very funny."
"hey, you're gonna be a wifey, so you might as well embrace it," ryan added.
"not anytime soon though. i wanna at least finish college," the girl said.
"you guys are gonna have a huge wedding party. six of us plus your brothers plus whoever else will wants?" all samy did was shake her head not wanting to think that far ahead yet. she wasn't even twenty.
the three made mindless conversation until the lights dimmed and the announcers got ready to introduce the players as they came out of the shark tunnel which was samy's personal favorite of the home games. will skated out first and the three were on their feet screaming his name like crazy. the blonde waved up at them before he slid into line. macklin came out after and they screamed again for the second rookie.
"that's our rookie!!" gabe screamed down to them.
"we love #2!" ryan joined in.
will blushed like crazy hearing them yell for him while getting eyes from the other players. eklund reached over to nudge his shoulder, a knowing smirk on his lips. the devils came out a few minutes later, some devils fans cheering for them but it was mostly boos in the stands.
the game got underway fast once they played the national anthem. will was on the ice with his line first, the lower bowl on their feet screaming and cheering for the white and teal players.
it felt like old times back when they were in the dev program arena or the conte forum and samy was cheering will on as he flew across the ice with the puck. she followed his number 2 with her eyes, cheering when he made a successful pass or received one from his linemate.
"come on smitty!" ryan called, his rowdiness already starting to show.
the youngest hughes bounced between watching her boyfriend and watching her brothers who definitely knew how to push will out of his comfort zone. it helped that they've played together before, but luke and jack were a powerhouse when it came to being on the ice together. they weaved between the sharks like bullets, adding a few pushes and shoves as they went.
"damn, they're fast," gabe mumbled.
"will knows how they play, or at least he knows how luke plays. they're gonna wanna push him out of his comfort zone," samy explained exactly what the two brothers started doing. luke got himself up close and personal to will, trying to get the puck from him without shoving the younger blonde too hard.
the older brunette had the upper hand and took the puck back. he passed back down the ice towards the other goal leaving will to chase after him.
a wash of nostalgia hit samy as she watched her brothers and boyfriend battle it out together. memories from when they were little flashed in her mind of the same image of luke and jack playing against will on the ice. they always used to be a little meaner to the two of them because they wanted them to grow their skill and become meaner as well. samy knew that was what her brothers were trying to do now.
"come on, come on, come on," ryan muttered under his breath wanting will to score a goal. he was getting closer, but the devils were obviously tough players.
both teams went the whole period without scoring. the sharks had definitely stepped it up since their last game and were trying to make the devils work for a point.
"you guys need anything?" ryan wondered during the first intermission. samy and gabe shook their heads.
"okay, well i'm gonna grab a drink. text me if you do end up wanting something," the brunette said and disappeared towards the food court.
"how've you been?" gabe wondered when it was just them. samy snapped her gaze to him, "i'm good. better."
the dark-haired boy smiled, "i'm glad to hear that. talking with your coaches went okay? you started talking to someone?"
"yeah, yeah. coach klein was actually really glad i came and said something to her and she was sorry i felt that way. i talked to my parents more too and we found someone that i can start talking with every other week. it's been good," the girl elaborated. relief flooded gabe hearing that. he'd been really worried about her, so he was glad to hear she was doing a lot better.
"that makes me happy to hear. don't forget we're always a call away too," the boy said and she nodded.
"i know, thanks, g."
ryan returned a few minutes later just before the second period began. he came back with some soda, offering some of it to them even though they said they didn't want any. gabe took a sip and then so did samy, appreciating his offer.
the players were back on the ice minutes later and the heightened energy quickly returned. the three were on their feet again as will zoomed by their section hoping for a goal this period.
luke was the only one on at the moment. he guarded the goal area fiercely, ready to push back against will's advances. samy's gaze constantly flicked between him and her boyfriend, wondering if will would be able to get past him.
macklin was back on the ice so now both rookies were working to score the first goal of the night. samy's eyes darted between all three boys down there rooting for will and mack while also rooting for her brothers. it was always hard when people saw her cheering for one team and then the other seconds later.
the blonde flew around the bend of the rink, avoiding a hit from one of the devils as he passed down to macklin. the brunette took ahold of the puck, deciding to take his chances with shooting. the little puck flew past luke's stick and the goalies right into the back of the net. the air horns blew and samy jumped up in excitement. everyone else on the arena screamed out while the boys quickly celebrated the first goal.
"let's go mack!" gabe cheered. the brunette pumped his fists into the air and then skated towards around the glass to get everyone to cheer for him again.
for the rest of the 2nd period and the 3rd, the sharks stayed at 1 point and the devils didn't score which meant the sharks had their redemption. samy cheered for will and his team while also sympathizing with her brothers' team. ryan led them back towards the front lobby knowing all of the boys probably had a bunch of press to do before they reunited.
samy got caught up with some fans again as they were leaving the arena. ryan and gabe gladly helped take pictures and even get some of their own with the few that recognized them. things started clearing out a bit more after twenty minutes now that it was just wives and other friends waiting for the players to come back out.
will appeared about twenty more minutes later. he was showered and back in his christmas sweater that he walked in wearing over his dress shirt. samy grinned, opening her arms to hug him. the blonde wrapped his arms around her torso, spinning her around slightly.
"congrats on the win, #2. super proud of you," the girl cheered.
"i told you, you were my good luck charm," the blonde kissed the bridge of her nose. he set her down to greet gabe and ryan again.
"awesome game, smitty. you killed it out there," gabe exclaimed. while the boys caught up, jack and luke came into the main lobby, spotting samy.
"hey! we gotta run, but we wanted to grab a photo with you guys before we left," jack hugged his sister first.
"okay, it was good seeing you two. i'll see you again in like a week," the brunette grinned as she hugged luke next.
"yeah, we'll be home," luke smiled.
"we can take your photo if you want," gabe offered to the siblings who appreciated the gesture.
"we want one with all of you too," jack said as they squeezed themselves together. gabe took a few, handing it back so they could examine them.
"awww cute. mom will love that," samy smiled. they found someone to take a photo of all of them and then jack and luke hurried out of the arena to catch their bus back to the hotel.
macklin finally came out from the back with eklund and bordeleau behind him. "hey, we wanted to properly say hi to you guys," the other will explained.
"you guys killed it out there tonight. i was thoroughly impressed," gabe began with a smile.
"thanks man. it was definitely a tough game, but i'm glad we pulled away with a win," tom grinned as well.
"all thanks to this kid," will patted mack's back who flushed.
"hey, it was nothing guys," the younger brunette laughed.
"so we hear you're a national title holder now," eklund nudged samy's arm, turning the conversation to her.
"first national title. it was super cool," the soccer player chuckled, still reeling from all of the excitement that last weekend was.
"damn, w-2 really has it all then doesn't he? the skill, the friends, the girl. i'm kind of jealous," tom brushed up will's hair. the blonde blushed for probably the hundredth time that weekend, watching the way samy's lips lifted into another grin.
he was so in love with her.
"we should probably head out soon, but i'll catch you guys later," the hockey player broke out of his daze knowing it was getting late and everyone was exhausted from the game.
"of course. we'll catch you guys later. it was a pleasure meeting you three," tom nodded towards samy, gabe, and ryan before heading out the side door. will led the way to his car.
it was a fairly silent ride home just because of how tired everyone was and eager to finally lay in bed. they wished macklin a goodnight and then got back on the road towards the marleau house.
"great game again, smitty. see ya in the morning," ryan patted his friend's back before heading upstairs.
"see you guys in the morning," will chuckled. his gaze slid to samy's who raised her eyebrow when they met eyes.
"so what'd you think?" the blonde wondered as the couple lingered downstairs for a few more minutes.
"of what?" the girl wondered.
"everything, i guess?" as samy knew, will always had to make sure he had her approval because he valued her opinion so much. she giggled. "i really liked them. they were nice," she referred to his teammates.
"that's probably the tamest they've ever been," will admitted with a low laugh.
"i could tell. did you tell them to behave or something?" samy leaned back into the couch for a moment. the hockey player quickly joined her.
"i may have said something a few days ago when i said you were coming to visit again."
"i liked them, don't worry. you played really well tonight. i was impressed," the girl told him honestly which burned a smile into the boy's lips.
"luke and jack kind of tore into me, but i expected it. i knew they were trying to push me."
"yeah, i could tell too, but you handled them well," they shared a sweet smile.
"i'm really, really glad you came this weekend. i had a lot of fun. i mean i always have fun whenever we're together," will said again even though he's said this a hundred times already. the girl flushed.
"well you don't have to miss me too hard this time because i'll see you in cape cod for christmas," samy rested her head on will's shoulder even though they probably should've headed upstairs to change and lay in his actual bed. the couch was also just so comfortable.
"i can't wait to be back in massachusetts for a few days," will hummed, leaning his head against hers.
as suspected, they fell asleep like thatâwill in his suit and samy in her jeans. it wasn't until will woke up three hours later and realized they were still downstairs that he nudged samy awake and helped her upstairs so they could be more comfortable in his bed.
they hardly changed into their pajamas before crashing back onto the bed. samy quickly snuggled into her boyfriend's side where will pulled her so close there wasn't any space left between them. he pecked the top of her head.
"love you," he mumbled sleepily.
"love you, too," samy sighed, sleeping until they needed to be up and back at the airport the next day.

the right boy
summary: being in love with your childhood best friend isnât always the right choice maybe the cute hockey player is the right boy?
jj mccarthy x reader, luke hughes x reader
Growing up with the McCarthy family and being best friends with JJ especially. From going high school together to being accepted into Michigan University together, the two were always glued to each other sides.
Anyone with eyes could tell JJ was in love with her just as she is in love with him, what no one could figure out is why neither had confessed yet.
She did and admitted to her feelings to JJ one night in her dorm and JJ was stunned didnât say anything back but kissed his best friend back.
They ended up falling into bed together and fell asleep after and when JJ woke up way before her and realized the consequences of getting in a romantic relationship with his best friend, he quickly put on his clothes and grabbed his stuff and left her dorm.
Leaving her to wake up in a bed all alone. Humiliated and upset with him and herself. She confessed her love and she woke up naked and alone.
JJ ignored her the whole week and the first time she actually saw him was a week later as she was heading up the stairs up to his room, as a party is going on in the Football house and she was told that JJ is in his room.
She knocked on the door before opening it and freezing at the sight in front of her, A bleach blonde sorority girl who JJ has said he did not like at all but she was on JJâs lap straddling him.
JJ looked up at the sound of the door and his eyes widen drastically and his heart dropped seeing who was in the door, he immediately pushed the girl off him and was chasing after his best friend who was already down the stairs and quickly hurrying through the party to outside.
âRosie! Rosie! Stop!â JJ called after his best friend, using the nickname she got when they were young and she would make rose crowns and make everyone wear them, JJ saw her slowing down but not turning towards him.
âWhatâs wrong?â JJ questioned seeing the tears on her face and the way she ran out of the house
She just looked at, âWhy?â She asked the question she had been wanting to know.
âWhy What?â JJ asked looking extremely confused.
âIf you didnât feel the same why did you kiss me back.â She demanded towards him glaring at him with tears still in her eyes.
JJ blanched looking pale, âRo- i do feel something for you, i have for years.â He desperately spoke moving forward to hold her hands but his heart broke even more seeing her flinch away from his touch.
âIn Love? So in love that you kissed me back after hearing my confession and didnât say if you felt the same, then slept with me but was gone before i woke up and completely ignored me for a week only to stop ignoring me because i found you making out with someone else. Yeah JJ iâm sure you are so in love with me.â She sarcastically nodded watching JJâs face fall the more she spoke.
âRosie thatâs not-â JJ desperately tried to get out knowing how bad he screwed up, especially knowing heâs been kinda messing with her on accident, didnât help he asked her to be his prom date in high school and bought her flowers and everything, always touching her and letting her wear his jerseys. JJ always denied it when anyone asked about his feelings for her because he was scared and know he realizes that wasnât a good idea.
âSave it JJ.â She cut him off sniffling, âIâm done. Iâm done trying to read into all of your double sided actions, Iâm done trying to be there when youâre sleeping around with half the girls in the school and come cuddling up to me after. Iâm done letting you stomp all over me.â She spat out all the words she had been holding on for years.
She quickly turned around and started walking away ignoring his calls after her and continued the walk home.
âFuck!â JJ cursed as slammed his foot against the light post watching her continue to walk away eventually until she was out of sight.
She stopped going to anything football related and blocked JJâs number and ignoring anyone who contacted her that is connected to JJ, making all of the McCarthy family sad and confused why she wasnât talking to them until JJ admitted he screwed up.
It was a few weeks later and she was sitting in the library working on her history assignment when she heard someone clear their throat, she looked up seeing Luke Hughes standing there with a nervous look messing with the straps of his backpack.
âIs it okay-â He asked gesturing to the empty seat next to, âEverywhere else is full.â And he wasnât wrong the whole library was packed of students.
âSure.â She nodded softy and looking back down at her assignment, blowing out a frustrated breath when her hair fell and covered her face.
âYour McCarthyâs Girl?â Luke hesitantly questioned knowing who she was since he started at Umich and saw her at a party and she was sophomore then and he thought she was stunning but knew he didnât have any chance as JJ was her boyfriend.
âI am not JJâs girl.â She looked up sternly speaking as she glared at the cute curly haired boy.
âSorry, just everyone thinks that.â Luke flushed apologizing quickly not meaning to offend her, but also feeling hopeful that she might be single.
âItâs okay, but JJ lost his chance and iâm moving on.â She explained shaking her head knowing Luke didnât mean anything bad when he asked. And she wasnât lying about moving on the more she remembered how bad JJ has treated her the easier it has been to start moving on.
âThatâs good, i mean sorry?â Luke awkwardly scratched his head, She couldnât help but let a laugh at how awkward but adorable he looks, she hasnât laughed for days, Luke perked up smiling happily hearing her laugh because of him.
Luke started coming back everyday and sitting next to her getting to learn a little more and more about her each day, he also noticed she always seemed frustrated with her hair, always looking annoyed when it fell her face but never putting it up.
âI have a question.â Luke spoke leaning his chin on his hand looking at her as she was writing onto her notebook.
She looked up setting her pen down giving him her full attention, âShoot.â
âWhy donât you put your hair up? You always seemed annoyed by that.â Luke questioned noticed the many times she gets very annoyed by her hair.
âUh when i put my hair up i get headaches pretty quickly so iâm just stuck with it being in the way all the time.â She looked away slightly trying to ignore the warmth growing on her cheeks as she realized Luke noticed that but she was not suprised as Luke is very sweet and attentive.
âWhy not cut it short?â Luke softly questioned frowning, His mom always has her hair short too because she hates it long so he wondered why she hasnât cut her hair short.
âIâve been told i look better with long hair.â She awkwardly explained thinking of the time that JJ told her short hair just didnât look good on her and she should keep her hair long.
âThatâs bullshit, youâll look great with either hair length. But itâs more important that youâre comfortable and your hair now seems to not do that.â Luke reached over gently squeezing her hand giving her a meaningful look, âWhoever said that is stupid because youâre absolutely beautiful and your hair is not gonna change that.â Luke smiled softly at her reassuring her.
She felt her eyes soften as she listened to Luke speak and she hated feeling her heart race a little faster remembering how it did that around JJ, âThanks Luâ She smiled softly squeezing his hand back and she knew she had to rethink about getting her haircut short.
A month later she had slowly felt she was moving on and really healing from all of the pain, she had talked to the rest of the McCarthyâs besides JJ and they all understood why she didnât talk to them for a little while.
A big part of moving on was because of Luke, she has spent most of her free time with Luke and has went to more hockey games in the last month than her last three years at Umich.
Lukeâs friends are lovely and easily accepted her in their group making her feel as if she gained multiple brothers.
She had just came back from a hair appointment where she finally decided to chop her hair off and it was above her shoulders now and it felt so incredible.
She headed to Lukeâs dorm and walked down the hallway to his dorm knocking on the door waiting for Luke to open the door.
Luke smiled hopping of his bed hearing the knock and knew who it was, he opened the door and froze seeing her, âYo-You cut your hair!â Luke stuttered out looking shocked.
She smiled bashfully tucking her shorter hair behind her ear, âI did.â She has to admit she really liked how she looks with the short hair and regretted listening to JJ and not cutting it sooner.
âIt looks beautiful.â Luke softly spoke, thinking she looks more herself with the haircut and he never thought she could get even more beautiful but with her new hair, she definitely did.
âYeah?â She asked hopefully her dimples showing up from smiling up at him.
Luke smiled at her gently tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, âBeautiful.â His eyes flickered between her eyes and lips.
She smiled even wider, âThank you.â She softly mumbled.
Over the past few weeks of knowing Luke, she began to feel more herself and smiled easier with him. He made her feel in the way not even JJ even made her feel.
She accepted the fact that she has feelings for Luke, feelings that are only growing stronger and stronger every day.
Luke smiled softly seeing her smiling and his hand stayed on her cheek gently rubbing her cheekbone.
âKiss me?â She hopefully whispered, looking up at him.
Luke froze his eyes widening in shock and hope, âKiss you?â His voice went higher but he had a very hopeful look on his face. He has hoped to hear her say those words for a very long time.
âPlease.â She whispered her eyes flickering nervously around his face.
Luke let out a sigh of relief and bent down to her finally pressing his lips to hers and sighing happily as they melted to each other.
Luke whined when she pulled away making her laugh fondly and press another kiss to his lips.
âDoes this mean i can take you on a date?â Luke whispered taking a step back into his dorm and closing the door but not letting go of her.
âYou can as my boyfriend.â She teased his softly back enjoying the way his face softened even more.
âI would love too.â Luke beamed pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, she sighed in relief and wrapped her arms around him resting her head on his chest.
Lukeâs leg bounced up and down as he waited for his girlfriend to come see him, they have been dating for almost two months now and he just got back to Michigan after playing with the Devilâs for the playoffs and he was going to have his girlfriend finally meet his family.
Jack and Quinn shared an amused look at how excited Luke is to see his girlfriend, they have known about her for a little bit now and Luke surprisingly talked about her quite a bit to his brothers.
Luke smiled getting a text from her that she is here and he quickly got up and walked down the front steps seeing her car in the driveway, she got out of the car and Luke immediately wrapped his arms around her spinning her around.
âLu.â She giggled as he spun her around making her cling to him, Luke slowly stopped setting her back down, âI missed you.â She whispered holding onto Luke tightly.
âI missed you too my sweet girl.â Luke softly whispered back pressing a kiss to the side of her head.
âGonna introduce us Lukey boy.â Jack playfully called out from where Quinn and him were standing on the front porch.
Luke pulled back from their hug rolling his eyes making her snicker but flashing a slighty nervous look at his brothers. Luke saw her nerves and grabbed her hand squeezing it reassuring and walking her over to his brothers.
âJack, Quinn this is my girlfriend.â Luke proudly introduced her making her flash a smile at the two.
âSo youâre the girl who my brother never shuts up about.â Jack teased flashing her a soft smile back.
âYou talk about me.â She playfully teased her boyfriend making him fondly roll his eyes blushing.
âShush you.â Luke grinned pinching her side. She just smiled softly at him before turning back to his brothers, who were watching the exchange and thought she was already perfect for their little brother.
She followed the boys into the house and saw a very beautiful woman in the kitchen who looked very similar to Jack.
Ellen looked up and beamed seeing her youngest sonâs girlfriend, âYou are just as pretty as Luke said.â Ellen softly complimented her walking over and she held out her hand for a handshake but Ellen just smiled pulling her into a hug.
âThank you.â She softly spoke to Ellen as she was hugged her back softly and she gave Luke a wide eyed glance, Luke had told her that Ellen was exicted to meet her but she thought he was being nice but Ellen seems genuinely excited to see her but she shouldnât be suprised with how kind Luke is, it is obvious he got his kindness from his mother.
Ellen linked her arm with her and started taking to her youngest sonâs girlfriend wanting to know everything about her as she can easily tell how smitten Luke is for her.
Luke smiled softly seeing the two most important woman in his life getting along immediately. He let his mom take his girlfriend and he knew his mom would introduce her to his father. Luke also knew there was no way he was going to get his girlfriend back from his mother for a while.
âYou picked a good one.â Quinn told his baby brother squeezing his shoulder softly, it was easy to see how in the love the two are with each other in just one glance and she obviously is good for Luke and got along with their mom immediately.
âYou better keep her around.â Jack pointed a playful finger at his little brother, already liking his girlfriend and couldnât wait to get to know her more especially with how easy she teased Luke.
âI plan too.â Luke firmly told his brother smiling as he heard his mother and girlfriends laugh.
Luke spent some time in the living room with his brother, letting his girlfriend have some time with mother before he couldnât wait any longer and got up walking to the dinning room seeing the his girlfriend, his mom and dad all talking.
âCan i have my girlfriend back now.â Luke whined as he walked into the dinning room and stood being her wrapping his arms over her shoulder and pressed a kiss to the top of her head.
Ellen smiled amused but nodded, Luke grinned and let her stand up and immediately pulled her to his side skiing her laugh and wave at his parents as they walked out of the dinning room and to the living room where Jack and Quinn were still playing videos games.
âAh he got you back.â Jack looked up and laughed seeing how less grumpy Luke looks now with his girl in his arms. Quinn chuckled too as he saw how Luke was clinging to her.
She smiled and chuckled as she looked at Luke fondly, Luke pulled her down onto the couch and pulled her as close as possible burying his head in her neck and letting a happy sigh.
She easily talked and laughed with Jack and Quinn as if she had known them for years making Luke so incredibly happy as he just was content to listen to them talk.
She stayed for a week with the Hughes and easily everyone just adored her and she fit into their family perfectly. She was the best choice Luke could ever make.
The Hughes were all going to the first game of the 2023-2024 football season, Luke was in town for a few more weeks before he headed to to New Jersey for his rookie year so they were spending as much time together as possible. Lucky for the couple it was her senior year so they would only have to long distance for one year.
She stood on the sidelines of the football field talking with Ellen and Jack as Quinn and Luke were a few steps away talking to some friends and Jim was making new friends somewhere down the sideline.
She has a small blue denim skirt, a yellow tank top and Lukeâs michigan jacket.
She laughed at something Jack said when she heard her name being called and she spun around seeing JJâs sisters.
âHi.â She awkwardly spoke not sure how to act around the two anymore since she no longer speaks to JJ even if she did grow up around them. She walked over to them meeting them in the middle.
âRosie!â Caitlin beamed and pulled her into a tight hug.
Morgan smiled and waited for her turn and once Caitlin stepped back Morgan pulled her into a tight hug, âWe missed you.â
âI missed you guys too.â She truthfully told them, but she was trying to stay away from JJ and unfortunately itâs easier to stay away from him by being away from the girls too.
JJ finished warming up and was trying to find his sisters and saw them talking to a girl with short brown hair, he walked up to them and threw an arm over his little sisterâs shoulder and froze when he saw the face of the girl they were taking to.
âRo.â JJ whispered shocked as he looked at her, she had cut her hair. She looked so glowy and more beautiful than usual, she looked happy and that was hard pick to swallow knowing he has been miserable without his best friend.
âHi.â She bluntly spoke, not feeling as nervous as she thought she would feel when she saw JJ again.
âYou uh look good.â JJ stammered out flashing a hopeful smile at her.
âI know.â She smiled calmly back and flashed a much softer smile at the girls, âIt was good seeing you two.â She squeezed both of the girls hands and turned around and walked away letting JJ see the name on the back of her jacket. Hughes.
JJâs jaw clenched as he watched her walk to Luke. He knew who Luke is. It was harsh realization as he watched the two knowing he had lost her forever.
She let out a long sigh as she walked away and felt lighter and more free, she walked back to Ellen and Jack and saw Luke back with them.
âYou okay?â Luke asked her the second she got to close to as he scanned her face, he saw JJ near her and wanted to give her space but he was watching to make sure she didnât look uncomfortable.
She let out a sigh and walked to him wrapping her arms around his waist. âI am now.â She mumbled happy as she hugged her boy.
Luke smiled softly, âGood.â Luke pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head and she knew she had picked the right boy.
Her boy.

Summary- reader invites Luke in her dorm after a studying session
Word count- 1.2k
I donât really remember how I got myself into this position. I was laying in my dorm bed caged in between Luke Hughes arms as we kissed. Iâve liked him for months but he was practically famous as I was a nobody. I tried hard to remember how I got here then I remembered.
Luke and I had a study date. Well, it was more like tutoring as he was near failing his primary classes. If his grades had stayed the same then heâd be kicked off of his hockey team. I figured I would just because heâs a close friend of mine. In return for the favor I only asked Luke to give me a ride back to the dorms. The way I caught his glimpses all night sent butterflies to my tummy. I guessed thatâs why in invited him inside in the first place.
But now here I was, being pushed into my mattress as Luke kissed me like I was the last woman on the face of the planet. He pulls away to allow me to catch my breath. We stare at each other and break out in a giggle fit. âShit, I thought Iâd never have a chance with a girl like you.â Luke whispers out and my jaw almost drops. âMe?! Luke youâre practically famous! I thought I was crazy for like you!â I laugh, moving to connect our lips again with a smile still on my face.
Weâre still giggling as we kiss, making it all the more memorable. His hands wander down my body, savoring every touch of me. I disconnect the kiss for a moment with a stupid smile on my face to pull my t shirt over my head. Luke takes a deep breath and begins kissing my neck. His mouth moves sloppily down my chest to my covered breasts. He presses kisses to them as he reaches behind me to unclasp my bra . He waits for any protest and when he hears none he pulls the bra off of me and tosses it somewhere on the floor with my shirt. He latches his lips to each of my erect nipples, giving equal attention, before moving down and kissing his way down my stomach until his face was level with my clothed core.
He looks up at me one last time, âpromise youâll tell me to stop if youâre uncomfortable?â I nod and he shakes his head âwordsâ âyes- yes Iâll tell you, I promise!â I nearly whine. He smirks and nods, looping my sweatpants with his thumb before pulling them down my legs, along with my panties. I suck my bottom lip into my mouth, moans wanting to escape just from looking at the position he was in. He keeps eye contact with me as he presses soft, teasing kisses to my cunt. I roll my head back and attempt to move my hips closer to him. I hear a small laugh from him before he spreads me with two of his fingers and presses his face onto me.
I let a moan escape my lips, the pleasure of his tongue lapping at my cunt forces me to arch my back into him. I move my hands to knot in his soft curly hair, soft moans of his name falling off my tongue. I lift my head to look down at him only to see him staring straight up at me. âLukeâŚâ I whine, not being able to get the words out that I was close to my orgasm. âCum for me, baby.â I cry out at his demand and release all over his tongue. He continues his moments to work me through my high before reluctantly pulling away. He licks his lips as he comes back to be level with my face.
âIf I knew I could make you cum with just my tongue, I wouldâve done it long ago.â He says before connecting our lips once again. I whine softly, tugging at the hem of his hoodie. He pulls away with a laugh, pulling the hoodie over his head. My hands instinctively fall down to rest on his toned abs. Then I move down further, now tugging at his shorts. He sits up and pulls the shorts down along with his boxers before tossing his whole outfit onto the floor with mine. My mouth waters at the sight of his rock hard dick. It was long and thick and for a moment I didnât even think it would fit.
He notices my staring and smiles, âIâll go slow for you, promiseâ he pauses, âor I can stop if you donât want to-â âno!â My eyes go wide, âI mean, no. Iâm okay I wanna keep going.â He nods and leans over me, pressing his lips to mine again. He runs his fingers along my soaking cunt before lining himself up with me. He keeps his promise and penetrates my cunt slowly, both of our breaths ragged and shaky. My fingers find home on his back, digging into it with my nails. He pulls away from the kiss and nestles his face in my neck, moaning out into the skin. After a few seconds he bottoms out completely in me.
âL-Luke you can move now.â I gasp out and I feel him nod against my shoulder. He pulls out almost completely before pushing back into me. I cry out his name repeatedly as he moves in and out of me. He sits up, pushing my legs apart further. This action makes it where he can reach deeper areas in me. My eyes were pinched shut but hearing the sounds of him grunting which each thrust, I forced them open to look at his fucked out face. Just the sight sends me over the edge but when Luke presses his thumb to my clit I start shaking. I open my mouth the warm him and he cuts me off.
âI know baby, you can cum for me.â He says through grunts. I throw my head back, holding onto the sheets of my bed for dear life as my juices explode on his cock. âWhere do you want it?â He barely musters out. My hands land on his chest, pushing him away and he gets the memo and moves off. I lean down in front of him, keeping eye contact as I take his dick into my mouth. His abs twitch as he grabs my hair. He holds my head to allow himself to cum down my throat. It was salty and warm, if he was any other guy Iâd gag and spit it out but I donât. I pull off and swallow, sticking my tongue out as proof.
He smiles lazily and moves us both to lay down. He rests his head on my chest and pulls the blanket up to cover us both. âThat was fucking amazing.â He mumbles with a laugh. I giggle and agree with him, lazily moving my hands up to scratch his back. Eventually we both fall asleep in each otherâs arms. My eyes open in the middle of the night to meet with the eyes of my shocked roommate. âThereâs no way you actually fucked Luke Hughes.â She shakes her head and puts her headphones in before lying down in her bed. I feel like grinning I to my chest and I softly slap the back of his head. âShut upâ

row 5, 10 seats in: your ideal spot in any lecture hall. you've found that during your time at the university of michigan, that exact seat always proved to be the most practical. the viewing angle of the board was always perfect - not too close to the front to be picked on, but not too far back that you needed your glasses. not many people chose that area in a lecture hall - either opting for the first three rows or the very back, meaning you typically weren't bumping elbows with anybody while taking notes.
so in your junior year of university when you noticed your psychology class was in room 293 (a room you'd had classes in previously) that first day, you took your seat proudly in row 5, 10 seats in. you knew you'd get your perfect seat - meaning you'd have no problem in succeeding with a productive academic semester.
that is until you walked in on the second day of classes and a head of dirty blonde hair, accompanied by broad shoulders and big hands was found sitting comfortably in your seat.
you slow in your steps, feeling your facial expression fall as you take him in. he's looking to his right, not even paying attention to you - legs outstretched and books spread out in your seat.
it's fine, you think, tomorrow you'll just get here earlier to take your desired spot. today, you decide, you'll settle for a different seat.
then, the mystery boy turns his head in your direction and you think your face falls even more. mark estapa was in your seat.
you knew of mark through mutual friends. you weren't friends with him or anything, but you're sure you've probably smiled in passing before.
seeing mark in your seat made you feel....irritated. because even if he didn't know it was your unassigned assigned seat - wouldn't he much rather dick around in the back with his teammates? why did he need to be in the perfect academic position when he probably couldn't care less about the class.
"is this your seat or something?" marks deep voice has you blinking hard, snapping yourself out of your head.
your brows pull together, and you tug on the strap of your book bag laying heavy on your shoulder. "what?"
he shrugs, "you're looking at me all weird - like I just kicked a puppy or something. so I just assumed i'm in 'your' seat." mark air quotes the word your, and it has you squinting at him irritatedly, lips forming into a pull of disgust.
"why'd you say it like that?"
he laughs slightly, and it makes your stomach swirl unpleasantly. mark shrugs, toying with one of his ink pens between two thick fingers. "you just look like the type to have some weird thing about where you sit."
you scoff gently, taking a step closer to the wolverines forward. "I'll have you know, that seat 10 in row 5 is quite literally the perfect spot for learning - there are studies that prove it. I take great pride in my grades - so yeah, I guess you could say I have 'some weird thing about where I sit'" you use air quotations to mimic his earlier ones, which makes mark breathe one quiet chuckle, eyes meeting the ceiling quickly before finding yours again.
you're looking at him expectantly, arms crossed and brows raised.
"is that right?" mark questions.
you nod, "mhm."
"looks like I beat you to it then."
your mouth falls and that makes mark's cheeky smile widen. "might as well just sit there," he gestures to the empty chair next to him, "because today, i'll be getting the benefits from sitting in the perfect seat for learning."
you bite your tongue, wordlessly (and rather aggressively) taking the empty spot next to your seat. "mhm yup." you hum quietly, eyeing the professor as he makes his way into the classroom, "enjoy it today -because it will be the last time you sit in that spot."
you feel marks eyes on the side of your face. "we'll see about that," he smirks, slowly turning his attention back to the front of the classroom.
tomorrow, you think, you'll be back in your seat - mark be damned.
class 2
the next class day - you do get your seat. if that wasn't a sweet enough victory in itself, you also get to watch mark tongue his cheek in annoyance at the sight.
he slows in his steps in the aisle, eyes very much on you in the desired seat. you send him a teasing smile, watching his irritation grow - it's practically radiating off his large body as he tosses himself down in the seat you had to painfully endure last class.
when he roughly pulls everything out of his book back, your victorious smile grows.
throughout the lesson, you make a show of spreading out your books with enthusiasm and making sure you sigh with content whenever you shuffled or moved in your seat.
all mark can do is smirk to himself, barley looking over towards you when you move or make a noise. his smirk is evident though, and you can't help but catch it.
you're surprised that mark even chose to sit beside you after he'd seen you in the seat. you assumed after rightfully taking back your seat, he'd move rows completely - choosing the back of the class with luke hughes and ethan edwards - but no.
you know now that he was trying to take your spot again - purposely this time. the thought has you angry and you have to grit your teeth anytime mark shuffles around - the urge to curse him out for being an idiot threatening to spill out.
you're determined now to not back down from keeping your assigned unassigned seat - your academic well being depended on it.
when class finally ends and the professor dismisses you all, mark turns towards you - looking smug in a way that has you snaring. you think he may say something about the seat, or perhaps even apologize for destroying your peace all class. but instead, "game on," mark deadpanned, grabbing his book bag and hauling it over one shoulder.
you laugh sarcastically, gathering your laptop and slipping it into your own bag. mark doesn't get too far away from you before you decide to respond. "can't play when you can't compete," you hum.
mark stops walking, eyeing you over his shoulder with that same stupid smirk on his face.
you don't stick around for him to say anything else, your shoulder brushing his sweater covered chest as you move past him.
class 3
the night before, you make sure you're alarm is set half and hour earlier than usual - and you check it at least 4 times before going to sleep: you were getting that damn seat even if it meant waking around like a zombie from loosing that extra bit of rest.
you woke frantically that morning, rushing through your brief morning routine so you could ensure you'd get out the door as quickly as possible - determined to get to class before mark - get to your seat before mark could wrongfully take it.
you walk through your psychology lectures door way with a victorious smile already on your face - happy that you will once again be more academically inclined for your class.
you look over to your row and slowly, and your smile fades as you resist the urge to scream.
mark is already there.
in your seat.
nobody else is in the lecture hall yet, and fair enough, you think, because it's still too early. you thought it was too early for anybody else besides yourself to get there....but you were wrong.
mark has all his books out on the small table infront of him, laptop open and ready on a blank document. there's a half drunken cold brew on his desk as well, meaning he's been awake long enough to not only beat you to class but get a drink on the way.
worst of all, mark is already looking at you - his body turned towards the entrance of the lecture hall like he's been waiting for you to arrive and watch the joy fade from your eyes.
you grit your teeth in irritation, slowly and with as much calmness you can manage, make your way to him.
"good morning," he chimes happily, eyes not leaving your face as you approach the seat.
you let your bag slip off your shoulder, hitting the floor beside his sneakers. sourly, you take the open seat right next to him.
"thought i'd get up early today." mark continues, picking up his coffee and taking an obnoxiously loud sip.
your glare at him before taking out your books.
two can play at this game, you think.
class 4
you've underestimated the michigan athlete once again. showing up that next week, 20 minutes earlier that the previous time - only to see mark there in your seat... again.
he's taken a more theatrical (and blood boiling) approach this class, with his long gangly legs propped up on the seat of the desks to his left and his arms behind his head - leisurely resting on not only your seat but the one you'd be stuck with beside it.
you scoff as you get close, eyeing his long legs on the desks, "must you look so proud?"
"oh, I must." mark says.
class 5
you can barley keep your eyes open because of how little sleep you've had, but the exhaustion is so worth it.
the morning of your class, you woke up ridiculously early - so early that your roommate sabrina was barley just asleep. so early you're sure mark wouldn't even dare think of waking up.
and yeah, you had to skip over the hair brushing, make up and the presentable clothing step in your morning routine, but you didn't care. all you cared about was getting to your lecture hall before anybody else could.
when you hear shoes squeaking to a halted stop an hour or so after you arrived to class, your tired eyes snap open. mark is looking at you with a shocked expression, his eyes processing the sight you in your seat already.
quickly, his expression changes. mark makes his way to you, squinting curiously at you as he analyses your pale skin. "you look tired." he states, sitting down.
you shrug nonchalantly, flipping your very much unrbushed hair over your shoulder. "you must be mistaking my victorious expression for one of fatigue."
mark hisses through his teeth, eyeing you once more. "careful, what good does the perfect seat have if you can't even stay awake to bask in its greatness."
class 8
in your last few psychology lecture races, you beat mark 2 wins to 1 in your shared seat debacle. you're still surprised he got his one win with how early you'd been waking up and getting to the classroom.
the feeling of victory has not gotten old though, and you have to picture marks face full of disappointment when you're feeling exhausted from your lack of full nights.
the look of pure irritation on the wolverines superstar player anytime he realized you'd beaten him to the lecture hall - the way you wiggled your fingers in a gentle wave in his direction as you happily occupied your seat - it was really fulfilling.
when you told sabrina about your and marks little tiff with your seat, she expressed how she thought it was dumb idea. sabrina said waking up early and loosing sleep over a seat in class wasn't going to help anybody's academics. as well, she says that arguing and taunting somebody as popular as mark estapa wasn't a good decision on your part because there was no good to come from it.
but you couldn't seem to care about any kind of consequence. you didn't care how popular he was, or how much he liked you - all you could think about was marks irritating smirk and big body plopped in your seat - tainting its essence.
the seat war would continue until mark gave up - you were determined.
it was another successful class morning of beating mark. your and mark's arrival kept getting earlier each time, but somehow you kept managing to just be that little bit earlier than him.
you're sipping your redbull delicately as he walks into the lecture hall, hiding your growing smirk behind the rim of the can as you watch mark deflate at the sight of your in the seat.
he curses quietly to himself before he makes his way towards you. "are you sleeping here or something?" he huffs annoyed, sitting heavily in the chair beside you.
you shrug nonchalantly, dusting off the imaginary debris from the hardcover of your psychology textbook. "no," you hum. then in all seriousness, you pause, directing your gaze towards him as you continue, "- but I wouldn't hesitate sleeping outside this classroom for this seat, mark."
slowly and with disbelief, mark puts his notebook down infront of him, eyes not leaving yours as he analyses you. "...you wouldn't dare."
"oh," you laugh once, "I'd dare."
he squints suspiciously at you before shaking his head once, breaking himself out of your mini staring contest. he straightens his back out, falling back against the seat - the dull thud echoing in the empty classroom.
you watch his suspicious expression change to one of curiosity and that has you feeling a bit nervous. you watch as he eyes you again, a raise to his one brow.
a beat passes.
"how do you know my name, y/n?" mark asks, a slight tug to the corner of his mouth. he sounds almost...impressed, and truly curious.
which you think is a bit odd, because who doesn't know mark estapa? not only was he on the schools hockey team and friends with some of the most popular athletes at the school (nhl stars included), but he was quite literally famous online. one time you got a tiktok edit of him...on your foryou page. you don't think you've scrolled past anything faster - the feeling of seeing clips of your classmate over a flo milli song was just too much.
instead of spewing out that inner monologue, you reach over yourself, pointer finger tapping the top of his dark green notebook - touching his name that was written out in black sharpie.
briefly, you wonder if its handwriting or somebody else's, but you also don't know why you would care, so you quickly tell your intrusive thought to get lost. you pull away, hands coming back you yourself.
mark nods in understanding, shrugging like it's an acceptable answer. "ah," he breaths, crossing his arms over his broad chest, his muscles moving under his compression top.
you blink hard, scolding yourself for letting your eyes wonder. what is wrong with you today, girl? you think. "annnnnddd how do you know my name?" you drag out, brow raises in question as you eye him.
wordlessly, mark uncrosses his arms so his hands are free. with a slight smirk, he taps the side of his head, mimicking your earlier point on his note book.
class 9:
"I should've brought you a neck pillow." are the first words your hear when you walk into room 293, marks voice making itself known as soon as your converse covered feet past the threshold of the classroom. "you know," he continues, "In case the early morning catches up to you."
you breathe out a sarcastic laugh, walking sluggishly to the dreaded 11th numbered chair beside him.
one of the worst things about waking up earlier to try and beat mark to the lecture hall was that he never even looks like he's tired - where as you looked like you just crawled from a bat cave. in the earlier mornings, mark is always smiling and looking bright eyes and bushy tailed - which has your annoyance spiking.
you choose to not say anything and you keep your tired eyes trained on the front empty hall. now you wish you stopped for a coffee, knowing it wouldn't of mattered anyway - mark had you beat. thankfully, mark doesn't say anything else, and scrolls tiktok quietly beside you. the noise is a nice distraction, and it has you feeling rather relaxed as the two of you sit together in the early morning silence.
an hour later when your classmates start arriving, you start to get your things out of your bag. reaching in you're immediately humbled feeling nothing in there. the night before, you had spilt a smoothie in your bag, and emptied everything out to let it dry. this morning when you were rushing to get to class to beat mark to your seat (which proved unsuccessful), you had only grabbed the empty bag - leaving all your belongings at home.
you're left with no laptop, no textbooks, no notepad, not even a pen. you feel like you could cry. as the professor made his entrance, you're left with no choice but to borrow from your seat mate.
the thought of having to deal with him in the morning is already exhausting. you inhale deeply and look over at mark. you plaster on the best exaggerated grin you manage this early. "mark, can I have a pen and some paper?"
suprised, mark looks over at you. once he sees your faux smile and lack of supplies laid out, he mimicks your expression, the sarcasm of it all is practically oozing off him. "ahhhh - so now you want to talk to me."
he was trying to push your buttons, that much was obvious. you don't give in, only deepening your faux smile, even giving your head a little tilt. "well, technically I forgot my stuff because I was too preoccupied trying to get here before you could steal my seat - the least you could do Is let me borrow a pen and piece of paper because, after all, you did steal my seat."
mark tongues his cheek, the corners of his mouth tugging up in a victorious manner. a beat passes before he digs through his bag, emerging with a pen - holding it in his palm out to you. you pluck it from hand aggressively - making his smirk grow.
class 12
your psychology class has been pushed back an hour after your professor sent out an email the night before, offering his apologies after he needed to extend one of his meetings with the department.
you weren't complaining though. you were looking forward to that little bit extra sleep before getting up and trying to once again beat mark to your seat.
knowing you had that little bit of extra time, you chose to take your time walking towards the lecture hall building, sipping on your apple cider as you enjoyed the fall weather. the fall season at the university of michigan was always your favourite. there was something so magical about being away at school when the leaves were turning that resonated with you.
not too many students were around while you walked. just the odd group or individual as they made their way to their own lectures. that being said, it made spotting people very easy, as they weren't yet common.
so when you lock eyes with mark as he approaches on one of the side paths, you can't help but to curse yourself - walking too leisurely to the point of running into him.
mark slows in his steps only a few feet adjacent to you, swallowing thickly. you slow down as well, eyeing him suspiciously as he stares down at you. he clears his throat as you both come into step with one another, now walking side by side to your lecture building.
"mark." you greet quickly, eyes forward as the building comes into sight.
he nods, "y/n." mark begins to walk just a little faster at the sight of your destination, leaving you a step behind.
so you follow suit, taking quicker and bigger steps in order to keep up with mark. his legs are long and he's way more fit than you, so you're practically in a breathless jog trying to get in front of him.
"beautiful morning," you hum nonchalantly.
"the most," mark's step increase in speed as he answers you.
you curse to yourself, falling behind once again. you feel like your running at this point, desperately trying to beat mark without full on sprinting into the lecture building. you panick, knowing marks stupid long legs would have you beat in this foot race - and to your seat.
quickly, you conjure up a plan of attack. you groan behind him, crouching down and grabbing ahold of your sock covered ankle. you hiss loudly like you're hurting - loud enough for mark to hear.
he stops walking at the sound of your pain, turning around to see you bent down, nothing but discomfort on your face. mark starts walking towards you, the shiny dark oak doors to the lecture building long forgotten as he bends down to your level.
softly, he places a warm palm on your back, eyes searching yours. "hey, you okay?"
momentarily you feel guilty. he looks truly concerned for your well being and the feeling of his hand on your back isn't helping your act.
but then you remember how he quite literally stole your seat and the guilt washes away.
rather wobbly, you stand back up to your full height with the help of marks arm. you balance your weight on the ankle you were nursing, wincing as you do so.
mark still looks concerned. his brows are furrowed tightly as he watches your facial expressions, waiting for any further signs of discomfort and pain. you're pretty sure he was about to offer you a damn piggy back ride.
you sigh deeply, and then a smirk begins to pull at your lips. "nice guys finish last marky." you deadpanned.
"what?" he frowns, confused.
you take off, sprinting past him and up the stairs of the lecture hall. "the seat is mine!" you call out, pushing open the heavy doors and disappearing into the building.
class 14
you were running a little bit more behind than you preferred this morning, and you were practically running by the time you walked into psychology.
it's quiet in there, and you notice how mark isn't present. nobody is the lecture hall and even better, mark isn't in your seat.Â
you let a triumphant smile overtake your bare face, and you adjust your bag so that it can finally still comfortably on your shoulder - your rush to class having your bag left to rub your shoulder raw.
then your momentary joy fades as you take in the note on the big whiteboard behind the teachers desk.
class moved to room 278.
you groan to yourself, immediately spinning on your heels to head back in the direction you had already walked through.
you can already picture mark - his smug face tucked into that beloved 10th seat in the 5th row. picturing that has you walking faster as you hope that mark wasn't too far ahead of you - or ahead of you at all.
you all but slide into the new lecture hall, slightly breathless and exhausted. you're confused, brows pulled taught as you also see this classroom empty. although it's still early, it was unlikely for absolutely nobody to have arrived.
quickly, your eyes dance around the room, finding the smaller dry erase board near the front. your lips form into an involuntary snare, your anger bubbling up as you read the note left.
would a nice guy do this? is written in blue, accompanied by a terrible drawn emoji - blowing you a kiss.
mark.
"you're fucking kidding" you whisper. you can feel your face flush with anger, deepening your irritation as you re-read(what you now realize) is marks handwriting - matching his name printed on that stupid green notebook he always uses.
you take a shaky inhale to keep yourself as calm as possible, leaving the classroom in an annoyed march - quickly making your way back to the correct classroom.
you can't even be bothered about how sweaty you've become or how your feet are beginning to ache from walking across campus three times before your first class - all your thoughts are focused on mark and his stupid prank and how he's definitely lounging in your seat - waiting for you to get back so he can bask is his prank.
most of the students are piling into the room when you arrive, but you aren't one of patience today. you weave through bodies as quickly as possible, pushing up the stairs.
there's a momentary pause on the incline and that's when you finally land your sights on his head of blonde hair, his eyes watching you in amusement.
immediately, you send him an accusing glare from your stopped position on the stairs, shaking your head in disbelief as you look at him.
mark just winks back at you - which sends your stomach turning in every possible way.
'idiot' you mouth at him. people start moving again, allowing you to finally get through the group of students and down the 5th row.
mark smirks happily, resting his chin in his large palm as he watches you sit wordlessly beside him.
class 17
you're almost out of the row of seats, your book bag slung over your shoulder -Â your professor had dismissed you all for the morning. it isn't soon after making your way down the stairs, your professor says your name.
"y/n," he calls out, affectively grabbing your attention and stopping you in your tracks. "do you mind having a word?" he questions, adjusting his black framed glasses to sit higher on his nose.
you frown slightly, especially when you catch sight of mark, who seemingly has been asked to stay behind as well. mark isn't looking at you, but rather at the floor, nervously fiddling with his hands.
"sure," you hum gently, walking over towards them hesitantly. "everything okay professor?"
you can't rack your brain for anything that your professor needed to discuss with you and mark - unless, mark decided to be a total asshole about the whole seat thing, which would just be ridiculous.
"actually," the older man sighs, "there's a favour I need to ask of you." your professor eyes mark, who is standing just a few feet behind him.
"okay," you draw suspiciously, eyeing mark as well. he is still looking sheepish, eyes not meeting yours - which was, from what you gathered, very unlike mark.
in the few weeks you've been battling with mark, you've learned he is stubborn and determined - on top of that, he was very confident. the nervous act he was currently displaying had you feeling nervous.
your professor clears his throat, "mark here is having a hard time keeping his grades up in this class. obviously, it's still early in the year but his coach and I have discussed and decided it needs to be dealt with now, rather than later in the semester. this is an important class to mark's education here at the university of michigan, and he cannot have his grades slipping."
you nod slightly, your brows pulled together in confusion as you take in his words. "right, sorry, i'm just confused what that has to do with me." you admit.
the professor nods once, "yes. well, so far you have preformed excellently in my class - not only this semester, but in previous classes as well. that's why coach and I decided that you'd be the perfect choice to help mark and tutor him this semester."
neither you or mark speak, too shocked with the situation to register thoughts. the professor continues. "not only are your grades excellent, but it seems that yourself and mark happen to enjoy each others company - sitting together every class."
you face falls slightly. "seriously?"
"oh, seriously," mark finally speaks, an unreadable expression on his soft face. your professor turns to mark, a little wide eyed as if to tell him to smarten up.
mark sighs gently, "please tutor me, i'd really appreciate your help. I can't play with the team if I slip."
"i'll do it." finally, you agree, nodding a hesitant yes in their direction. immediately, your professor is joyful, giving you and mark the schedule and the study room bookings.
it was all a bit nerve wracking. knowing that you'd have to spend designated time with mark after the two of you had been purposely pushing one another's buttons was making you uneasy.
you don't show the true emotions you were currently battling - only nodding with a faux smile as the professor goes over what lesson plans you'll both start with and providing you with the upmost material you'd be needing.
you leave the classroom soon after your professor says he will email both of you with a more detailed schedule. as you walk back to your building, your mind is occupied with thoughts of tutoring mark and how you'll manage being in the same space with him without wanting to smack him.
and with your first session only a little more than 24 hours away, you'd hope to come up with a solution quickly.
tutoring lesson 1
"that makes no sense."
"that's because you're not even paying attention."
mark breaths deeply at your words, an exaggerated inhale echoing throughout the room. he runs a hand through his thick dirty blonde hair, tugging slightly at the root before releasing his grip.
you had received a text from mark only an hour before your designated study time. immediately, you frowned, because you didn't give him your number - but he had quickly followed up his initial text telling you that your professor gave it to him: invasive but you'd live.
he told you he had a game that night, so the study session would have to be fast and cut short. you gritted your teeth in irritation at his bluntness, but decided rather than telling him to fuck himself and pass the class by himself - you choose peace, responding with only the thumbs up emoji.
fast forward to right now, with you and mark in one of the campus study rooms with your class material from two weeks ago all spread out on the table infront of you.
although you could tell mark wasn't really trying to understand you, you could see true frustration behind his eyes - an indicator that he was at least trying is some capacity.
you take a deep calming breath and try again, "all you need to do is pick out the significant points of this paper and then with that information, you will write your own summary about its importance to the course."
across from you, mark is looking like a lost puppy, mouth slightly agape as he watches you explain the material for the 3rd time. it really wasn't a difficult concept to grasp, in fact, it was the easiest out of all the material you'd be going over.
you sigh gently, "listen, it should be relatively easy," you side eye him gently, his lost expression still very much present. "for some." you chime quietly.
marks mouth snaps shut, and he squints accusingly in your direction - your remark echoing in his ears. "for some," he mocks your words back at you, his voice turning all high pitched and squeaky in a way that makes you scoff.
"are you done?" you deadpanned, brows raised his his direction.
"no," mark groans for the hundredth time, his body falling back in the plastic chair. "that seat shit you read about is clearly crap - I'm not learning at all sitting there. considering it's 'the perfect spot for learning', I haven't learned shit." he air quotes your words from that second day of classes - the first time mark had stolen your seat.
"it's not crap." you state with a glare, "you have to believe it for it to work - clearly you think it's phoney. if you did believe in its natural greatness, you'd be fine - like me."
"whatever." he deadpanned, leaning back over the table - propped up on his elbows.
you bite your tongue for what feels like the millionth time since knowing mark - choosing to not snap back at his attitude.
slowly, you push the reading closer to him, slotting it between his arms, "read this again - slowly - and start with getting your significant points. that way you have that portion done before your game tonight."
wordlessly (and with another sigh, of course), mark drags the paper closer towards himself, sighing deeply as he begins to silently read.
a few minutes pass, both of you deep in school work - you creating lessons plans as well as catching up on your other classes work, while mark reads the assigned reading, occasionally jotting down points in his notebook just like you recommended he do.
your mid sectioning of a grid in your schedule, eyes squinted as you concentrate (you had already cursed yourself for forgetting your glasses). the gentle silence is interrupted, marks much too loud voice interrupting your peace.
"what's your favourite colour?" he questions, tone full of curiosity.
you can hear his pen hit the table, and slowly, you look up, eyeing mark through your lashes. your fingers pause on your laptops keyboard, "what?" you breath.
"your favourite colour. what is it?" he asks again, more firmly.
"how is this significant to our tutoring?" you question curiously, your pen resting on your bottom lip as you ponder at his sudden questioning.
"I'm trying to keep my mind active here," mark says in a tone that makes it sound like you should've known his intentions, "and if you're at least talking to me, then i'll be more inclined work."
you tilt your head gently, squinting playfully at the tall wolverines forward. "are you saying my voice is more boring than you doing your work?"
he gives you an annoyed look, mirroring your tilted head. "just...tell me your favourite colour. and don't say orange - I hate orange."
"what's wrong with orange?" you frown, "orange is the colour that beat communicates fun - It expresses frivolity and playfulness, connecting people back to inner child."
"of course you'd know that." mark says in disbelief after taking a momentary pause at analyze what you just spewed at him.
you choose to answer his initial question, not bothering at attempting to explain your knowledge on a colour - he probably wouldn't understand anyways. "my favourite colour is pink," you answer, back to working away on your laptop, keyboard clicking rhythmically as you talk.
"pink huh," mark hums with interest, "and what's the weird reason for that?" you can feel his eyes on you, boring into your face as you type. knowing that has you feeling slightly nervous, wondering how hard he is analyzing your expressions or features.
"it's just pretty." you say gently, a blush adorning your cheeks. you hear mark stifle a gentle laugh, and you look back across the table at him. he's not looking at you, but rather writing in his notebook, eyes darting between his writing and the reading.
you clear your throat quietly, getting back to your own work. "what's your favourite colour?"
mark eyes you gently once more. you aren't looking at him, so you can't see the way his lips tug up in a smile or the way he's focused on your side profile. "yellow." he answers after a beat. "it's the colour of most of my favourite things."
you hum, "like what?"
"the sun, my jersey, pineapples....baby ducks," you giggle softly at his last remark. finally, you look away from your screen, seeing that mark is already got his eyes on you. he continues softly, "the list goes on really." he is smiling at the sound of your gentle laughter, your eyes squinting naturally without your glasses - ones that mark has only seen you in a handful of times and he thinks you must forget them often.
he shakes his head slightly, eyes finding the clock on his phone. the time has him clearing his throat and he pushes his notebook towards you across the table. "i've got my points here, if you want to check them over before I go."
you blink hard, "right, yeah." you take the outstretched green notebook from him, making quick work of the little blurbs he took note of. "this is good, now you just have to compile it into a summary - in proper format obviously."
"obviously," mark teases. "i'll do it later, kay?" he begins to pack up his things, which only consisted of his notebook, a pen and his closed laptop. "i've gotta get in my suit and head to the rink."
"okay, just..don't forget. and please, send me the final product before turning it in."
mark is practically already out the door. "will do!" he says over his shoulder, shutting the glass enter ace of the study room and jogging away.
you sigh gently, packing away your own things.

tutoring lesson 7
"new plan," you say, slightly breathless from the jog over to the library. you drop your bag on the dark oak table, the sound thumping in the quiet room.
mark looks up from his phone surprised - your sudden appearance catching him off guard. he raises a brow in question, urging you to continue.
you nod, "you said keeping your brain active is good for you and helps you stay focused, yeah?" he nods for an answers, and you smile before continuing. "right okay, so instead of talking - which can be distracting, I thought -" pausing, you tug on the zipper of your bag, digging through your belongings until you locate your airpods. you pull them out, displaying them like a trophy - mark bites back a teasing smile at your theatrics.
"we can listen to music." you ta da.
his brows pull towards the bridge of his nose, a frown overtaking his face as he thinks about your suggestion. "how is listening to my music going to keep me focused? - I get way too pumped up listening to my playlists."
"your palylists," you state, sliding into the empty spot beside mark. he watches you curiously, eyes following your every move as you start to connect your earbuds to your phone. "that's why we will listen to my music. listening to music you don't care about helps you stay focused on your work because you're not actually dissecting the song."
"and what if we listen to the same kind of music?" mark says lightly, taking the airpod from your outstretched fingers, nestling it in his ear.
slowly, you eye him - looking him over from his head to toes. "we won't." you put your own airpod in, leaving the ear closest to mark free in case he had any questions.
a few tutoring sessions before this one, you gave mark the detailed outline of what you'd be helping him with. you provided him with the names of all the textbooks and materials he'd need, as well as a detailed list of all test and due dates.
you had told him that you wouldn't spoon feed him anything, and that if he wanted to get his grades up, he had to try his best. you were there for clarification on anything he deemed difficult, and for when he is struggling and to edit his notes: the way you believed tutoring should be.
seeing as mark clearly had his notes out before you arrived (late) to the library, you pulled out your own notebook, along with your textbooks, preparing for your hour long session.
"you can change the song whenever," you tell mark quietly, setting your iphone between the two of you face up on the table.
"sounds good." he nods once, fingers toying his his pencil in a way that has you feeling a little bit fuzzy.
you clear your throat, looking away as the soft melodies of gracie abrams filter through your ears. flipping open your psychology textbook, you decide you'll start to get a head start on your next assignment- not knowing when you'll have any other time to do it. between your part time job at staples, tutoring mark and your other classes: your schedule was pretty full - you didn't want to fall behind.
you just begin to read into the second paragraph of the text blurb, your highlighter moving slowly along your page - the song abruptly changes. the music pauses in your ear for only a moment and you look over to see mark as he skips the song.
he catches your stare, giving your a quick nonchalant shrug. "sorry," he mutters, going back to his notes as a new song starts to play through the mini speaker tucked in your ear.
you sigh calmly, focusing back on your textbook.
watermelon sugar doesn't even reach the chorus - harry styles' voice is cut short as the the song stops once more. you bite your tongue, choosing to ignore mark as he skips another song. but then he does it again as a lana del rey song starts to play and you grunt annoyed - turning to face mark as he skips through your phones music library completely unaware of his own annoyance levels.
"what the hell," you question firmly.
mark pulls a face, unbothered by your clear distaste, "I'm not into these songs." he says nonchalantly, skipping over shawn mendes.
you scoff, "yeah that's the whole point. just-" you push his hands away from your phone quickly, stopping him from skipping any more songs. "let the music play," you tell mark gently - reminding yourself of a mother telling her toddler to behave.
he grunts like you're the one being annoying and that sort of makes you want to punch him in the gut. obviously you don't, and you choose to ignore mark and get back to your assignment.
a good 20 minutes pass without the song switching unnaturally, and anytime you take a curious peek towards mark out of the corner of your eye, you can see that he looks focused on his work. you gloat to yourself, happy with the success of your music studying idea.
mark only nudges you to ask for clarification twice, which is another small victory. since your professor appointed you to be marks tutor, you and mark have met up a handful of times for lessons. it seemed like he still likes to tease you just like he always has and that can make teaching him and spending time with him very challenging- but you've gotten used to his antics now (for the most part).
mark has gotten better with understanding the readings you've been giving him over the past few weeks of tutoring as well. not only that, but his essays have needed less editing.
your professor is very happy with the success, and is very adamant to keep working with mark until he reaches a B average. he's brought his average up to a C rather than a D+ so it was very much a work in progress still but he was getting there.
your thoughts are halted when the music pauses once again - an abrupt change to silence from the soft melodies of the music. irritated, you turn to give mark an earful for stopping the song once more, but you pause.
mark looks a bit starstuck - giving you a perplexed look with his brows raised in questions. his plump lips are agape as his eyes dart between you and your phone.
"hold on..what did taylor just say?" he questions curiously, still looking very much shocked.
"mark, you're not supposed to be listening to the music." you tell him tiredly, exhaling deeply as you look over at him.
he gives you another look of perplexity, "how am I supposed to ignore lyrics like that? run that part back."
"no," you laugh once, pushing away his hand once he tries to reach out to rewind the song, "we are not dissecting taylor swift lyrics." you tell him.
"but i'm bored," mark all but whines, head falling as he rocks back in the wooden library chair. just when you go to scold him for his dangerous seating position, mark continues, "and im done all my work that you planned for today! so tell me what the hell dear john is about."
you give him one more look of unsureness, knawing on your lips as you glance briefly at your work and textbooks infront of you. one more look at marks soft features has you breaking, your shoulders deflating as you exhale a deep long breath. "fine," you say highly, "but buckle up - because it gets crazy."

tutoring lesson 11
you knaw on your lip, feeling the skin you've shredded between your teeth. your eyes dance over the white paper, marked with red pen once more, skimming the notes and numbers.
you release your lip, a small sigh coming out of your mouth. "it's okay."
mark groans at the sight of your face, very much indicating that it was indeed not okay. "I flunked it." he says disappointed, eyes drooping with what is no doubt exhaustion.
you knew that last night mark had a game, only after he had asked you to come watch what he claims is the 'best sport to watch live' - to which you declined...again. that combined with his busy schedule left him little to no time for the extra studying you suggested he should do before the test. clearly- that didn't happen.
"you didn't flunk," you remind mark again, placing his test down on the white table top in your booked study room, the shiny red C on the top right corner staring back at you. "it's a C. your grade won't change."
"but it won't get better," mark sighs, running his hands through his hair. "I studied as much as I could, I swear." he looks at you wide eyed and panicked, and you feel a pang of guilt all the way down to your toes.
"I know you did," you reassure him, "but sometimes in order to retain the information better, you need to switch up your study methods. for the next test we will change it up, and we can study extra. don't stress."
he sighs sadly, dropping his head backwards so his view is of the crisp white ceiling of the secluded room. "fuck, I don't want to fuck up and not be able to play." he admits with defeat, blinking heavily.
"we aren't going to get to that point, not when you got me - the smartest person you know - tutoring you, right?" gently, you nudge your elbow into his side, teasing him.
mark looks back at you, smirking softly at your attempt to get him out of his momentary slump. "right."
"okay, so let's just forget about this test for now, we can go over it another time." you push the paper away and off to the side of the table, hiding it from his line of vision.
mark watches you with a fond expression, that same smirk on his lips you've grown to learn is almost always present in your presence.
"today we will go over this new material first, sound good?" looking over, you find mark already looking at you - your eyes meeting softly.
ever so slightly, you feel your face fall - inhaling sharply at the fond expression on marks face. he is closer than you expected, and you don't think you've ever been this close to mark. at this proximity, you notice how prominent the freckles on the bridge of his nose are and how rich his eyes are.
"sounds good." mark says gently. you snap out of your head, and you clear your throat, turning your attention back to your textbook and the lesson plan that you had pulled up on a word doc on your laptop.
throughout the rest of your lesson with mark, you'd often find yourself admiring his face, weather it was his side profile or full frontal. you'd watch the way mark's tongue would dart out when he was writing and the way he'd roll his eyes anytime he had to read something boring.
you notice how his nose is perfectly shaped for his face, and how his stubble is starting to grow in, giving his usual baby face a more rugged appearance. you take notice of how often he runs his hand through his hair, and how when he was trying to understand something, he'd knaw on the skin around his thumb.
you also see how he was solely focused on spending this time working on the new material. mark never sighed with impatience, and he never once picked up his cell phone for a distraction- even when it was buzzing crazy on top of the table.Â
the only time he stopped working was to annoy you - of course.

"what's so funny over there?" your roommate sabrina questions - her voice full of amusement and curiosity. she pulls one of her earbuds out, eyeing you from her spot on the small love seat.
you look up at the sound her voice rather quickly, adjusting your position on your chair to seem natural. "nothing really." you're not sure why it feels like you've been caught doing something you shouldn't - but you can't help but feel guilty. you laugh once, running a hand through your loose hair. "nothing worth repeating."
sabrina quirks an eyebrow at your odd actions, and she eyes you over suspiciously. it doesn't take long for her brain to come to a conclusion- you can practically see a light bulb flick on above her head of blonde hair. her eyes widen and she springs up from her lounged position, her other earbud falling into her lap. "are you talking to a guy?" she squeals.
you scoff roughly and definitely too loud, giving your friend a perplexed look. "what? no."
"you so are." sabrina says giddily, covering her cheeks with palms. "only guys can get you smiling like that. spill - who is he?" she leans further forward on the couch, closer to you and your spot on the adjacent chair.
"sabrina," you sigh gently, a small laugh nonchalant following, "it's nothing like that...it's just mark - he's just annoying me like usual."
she hums once, leaning back into an upright position, "right. how is that going by the way?"
you feel your stomach swoop and your cheeks threaten to burn red. "how is what going?" you question nervously, toying with the string of your pyjama pants.
"the tutoring....obviously." she chimes, something between an amused smile and a confused one settled on her round face.
obviously she means the tutoring, you think. there is no other relation between yourself and mark estapa that warrants any type of questioning. but then why do you feel the way you're feeling - your brain questions you.
"fine," you answer quickly, dismissing the annoying turmoil in your own head.
if sabrina thinks your acting weird she doesn't say anything, only watching you as you tug on your string and answer her question. you continue, cheeks flushed at her curious stare, "we are really making progress."
she hums, "this is still the same mark estapa that was fighting you for a seat in class - right?"
you purse your lips, "mhmm."
her lips tug up in a way that's unfamiliar to you, but she looks happy so you don't question her "well, i'm glad there's no more hostility then."
you pause, tilting your head as you think. "not as much." you correct her.
sabrina just shrugs, tucking one of her earphones back in. "who knows," she chimes, giving you one last look, "maybe the two of you will become friends after all this." she doesn't give you a chance to respond, putting her second airpod in and continuing her netflix show.
you exhale, head falling back against the chair with exhaustion. "maybe," you whisper to yourself.
your phone buzzes against your thigh, and you pick it up, your text thread with mark still up on your screen.
mark
i've changed it! too late
mark
okay now you have to ask me a question. that's how this works
mark
oh so you're ignoring me
mark
ur gunna make me cry
you smile and begin to type a response.
â
mark had always loved street parties. the atmosphere of everybody gathered outside gave him a sense of belonging and comfortability - the fresh air combined with unlimited space to move around and mingle always trumped a cramped house party.
often, mark as well as the wolverines roster found themselves mingling with their friends and classmates at any and every street party they managed to catch wind of. after all, with their busy schedules, it was sometimes the only time they got to mingle with one another.
tonight was no exception. mark was nursing his second beer of the night, the condensation dripping down his hand and off his wrist anytime he brought the neck up to his lips for a gulp. beside him, ethan laughs loudly at something luca points out, and mark finds himself joining in - even through he's not sure what's so funny.
suddenly, luca turns his attention towards mark, a mischievous glint in his big eyes. "I think papa estapa should find dylan and get us some more drinks."
"what? why me?" mark groans unimpressed.
"because," ethan sing songs, crushing his empty can and tossing it into the trash bin that, conveniently, was near the trio. "I got them last time."
"right, okay." mark sighs, eyes already squinted as he searches the mass of bodies gathered in the street, trying to find their social butterfly best friend, dylan duke.
"you'll find him," luca says, "hard to miss dylan with that embarrassing cooler backpack."
ethan and luca laugh loudly once again, and mark even chuckles along at the thought of dylan's prized bag he wore at every party. it was a sunshine orange coloured cooler, with frayed straps and liquid stains all over - because yes he refused to wash it in case it would 'take away its magic' - whatever that meant.
the thought of dylan's weird superstition has mark thinking of you as he walks through the sea of people. he thinks about just 48 hours ago during a tutoring session - mark remembers how your hair had been slicked back into a braid, and how shiny and soft it looked as you moved around. although, he thinks he prefers your hair down because he likes the way you hide behind it like a curtain when you're writing - or the way you constantly fiddle with the ends.
mark has been suprised with how well you have managed to take to him - especially with his constant pestering and the way he knows he pushes your buttons. he was also suprised with how smart you truly are - but then again what else did he expect with all your random facts and weird superstitions.
mark takes a moment to glance behind himself to make sure dylan hasn't slipped passed him unknowingly, but as he does so, mark bumps into something - or someone rather.
immediately, he turns and finds you.
he blinks once hard, making sure his mind wasn't playing tricks on him. when mark realizes you were in fact standing there, his lips tug up, peering down at you with suprise. "oh shit it's you."
you giggle lightly, head tilted so you could look at him. "it's me." you say highly, swaying in your stance.
your blinks are a little lagged and your flushed under the street lamps - that combined with the scent of fruity tequila on your breath has mark squinting suspiciously, "are you drunk?" he questions.
you scoff and look like your going to deny his accusation, but you stop yourself - pursing your lips and slowly nodding. "I may be a little tipsy."
mark smirks slowly, eyeing you teasingly, "a little?"
you nod confidently, bringing your arms behind your back so you are holding onto your own wrists. the new position has you loosing your balance and you stumble forward, barley catching yourself before falling into marks chest.
mark looks like he's holding back a laugh at your tumble and immediately you eye him irritated. "don't start." you huff, standing back to your full height.
"I didn't think this would be your sort of thing," mark admits, stepping closer to your smaller frame so he doesn't have to yell over the sound of people laughing and music blaring - allowing you to hear him more clearly over the noise. "thought you'd maybe be home - studying or something scholarly." he teases.
"i'm not into it," you admit with a slur, "i'm actually heading home. my roommate - sabrina, she said if I didn't come out with her tonight she'd put nair in my shampoo." you thumb behind your shoulder, even though sabrina wasn't there.
"brutal," mark hisses, "so where is sabrina?"
you shrug gently, looking around quickly to see if you could spot her. "don't know. she wants to stay."
he quirks a brow at you, "so you're going alone?"
you nod.
"no, i'll walk you." mark says adamantly, already patting his pockets to make sure he has everything before leaving, "you're drunk and i'm not in good conscious letting you go alone - i'm a gentleman." he still manages to teases you even when he's telling you what to do.
"i'm tipsy, not drunk. remember?" you say matter of factly, crossing your arms over your chest and turning your nose up.
"right. my apologies," mark teases you again, pulling out his phone, shooting a quick text to ethan that he'd not only be leaving the party but he didn't find dylan and couldn't yet their drinks - fend for yourselves boys.
"alright," mark hums, slipping his phone back into his jean pocket. "let's go your majesty." he holds his arm out for you to take, the gesture over exaggerated and embarrassing.
you roll your eyes, dropping your arms so you're able to grip the crook of his elbow - regardless of his teasing. after all, you were very much drunk and were happy for the stability on the walk back.
when mark finally gets you both towards the direction of the student dorms and away from the bustling crowd is when he next speaks - his hoarse but still sweet voice pulling you from your own thoughts. "I think you'd like fine bald."
you slow in your steps, looking at him inquisitively. "what?"
"you know," mark shrugs, pulling you further along the sidewalk with a gentle tug from his elbow, "in case your roommate would've actually put nair in your shampoo."
it takes your intoxicated brain a moment to register his words but once you come to, your laughing loudly, right into marks strong shoulder -Â your weight pushing onto mark as you lean into him.
"liar." you accuse him once your laughter subsides.
"never," mark says back. you don't say anything back, too busy trying to walk straight beside him. after a few moments, he continues, "so," mark smirks teasingly, nudging his elbow into you - the action momentarily squeezing your arms. "what's your favourite thing about me?" he questions.
you gasp with despair, your free hand coming up towards your exposed neck - clutching your imaginary pearls as you look up at the tall boy. "you're taking advantage of my drunkness," you slur accusingly, "people can't lie when they're drunk."
"thought you were just tipsy." he chimes, brow quirked at you knowingly.
"boooooo," you give him a thumbs down as you voice your opinion, which makes mark laugh, his bicep bumping into your shoulder at the movement.
you sigh loudly, deep in thought as you and mark continue further down the sidewalk, the sight of your building coming into view. "my favourite thing about you," you start soon after, "is that you're very determined, especially in your school work. it's a good quality to have."
even with your slurred speech and wobbly walk, mark can tell you're being genuine - your intoxicated state a clear indicator that you've lost any chance you had at a filter.
mark has never thought himself to be determined academically. on the ice - sure, but not with school - especially not when he was failing. clearly, you see something in him he doesn't see himself. that has him wanting to work even harder to not only improve for himself - but for you.
instead of just thanking you for the compliment, he chooses to faux frown, knowing teasing you when you're this drunk was an opportunity he wasn't going to pass up. " it's not that i'm devilishly handsome?"
mark expects you to roll your eyes like always - or even sigh all high and mighty how you tend to do when he gets on your nerves but you want to pretend your unaffected. but instead, you smile all dopey up at him, and the words that come out of your mouth are definitely ones sober you would never say. "well that definitely doesn't hurt."
"you're such a flirt tonight, y/n/n," you don't bat an eye at mark's new nickname for you, shrugging lightly at his remark. mark continues, a sarcastic sneer on his face "makes me a little sick to be honest."
"hey!" you screech, pulling away from the warmth of his muscular body, your hand unwrapping from where it was still resting in the crook of his elbow "i'll never do it again, wouldn't want little marky to feel sick from a compliment from y/n y/l/n!"
he laughs loudly at your teasing outburst and he reaches out towards your stumbling body, grabbing onto your arm and slowly pulling you back into him. "you know i'm kidding y/n."
you look up at him softly, feeling the way his breath fans across your hairline as he stands above you.
mark continues quietly, "if i'm being really honest, I want you to compliment me all the time."
you clear your throat once, breaking your eye contact. nonchalantly, your shrug. "we will see about that - depends how well behaved you are." you tease him, the two of you nearing the entrance of your building. at the end of your sentence, you burp just a little, a soft but slurred apology spewing from your lips immediately as you giggle at yourself.
it's a harsh reminder for mark that you are in fact hammered, and that you would probably have little to no recollection of the conversation in the morning.
you start walking up the three steps to your front door but pause at the first one, glancing back over at mark. "why did you take my seat from me?" you hum in question, swaying as you spin around to fully face him again," that second day of classes, why don't you just sit in the back like the first day?"
mark hisses through his teeth gently, eyeing your blissful flushed face. that day many weeks ago flashes through marks head as you stare at him - awaiting for an answer. even though mark knows you won't remember what he says anyways, he doesn't tell you why. "ask me that when you're sober." he says.
you make a fart noise with you tongue at his response, giving him another thumbs down - clearly unimpressed with his answer.
mark reaches towards you and flips your hand right way up so that it's turned into a thumbs up. you slap his hand away.
the sight of his smile and the sound of his laughter has your belly feeling funny - similar to the swoop on a drop of a rollarcoaster. you turn away from him, key in hand as you take the final two steps up.
you plunge the key into the door lock, jiggling it around until the door unlatches itself for you.
"need help upstairs?" mark asks from behind you.
you glance over your shoulder at him once again, passing the threshold of the doorway. "thought you were a gentleman, marky." you tease him knowingly, eyebrows raised in his direction.
mark tongues his cheek at your remark, nodding once at you. "goodnight y/n." he chimes.
"night night." you sing song, shutting the door gently.
tutoring lesson 18
mark jostles on his bed, sighing loudly as he shifts around. the movement has the pen gripped between your thumb and forefinger slipping -Â accidentally drawing a long harsh line down your homework.
slightly aggravated, you take a deep calming breath, moving around the line and continuing your work silently - cross legged on top of mark's bedspread.
after your last study session, mark complained about constantly working in the dusty library or a hospital white study room and told you he needed a change of scenery - told you his brain was going to explode if not, which made you roll your eyes at his over exaggeration.
although, you had to agree with him that the repetitive scenery was becoming tiring, and a change of location would be nice and would help benefit mark's learning.
so ahead of your current tutoring/study session, mark had texted you asking to meet at his place - he sent his address and stated his place was empty for working.
that's how you ended up on his plaid navy bedspread a few hours past his text messages - all kinds of class work laid out in front of you and mark, both of you finishing up some assignments.
once again, mark sighs loudly, flopping around his bed like a fish to try and further get your attention - his previous exaggerated sigh not working in his favour.
you take his very obvious bait, looking over at him with a quirked brow.
mark was already watching you, waiting for you to give him the attention he was wanting. "can we take a break?" he asks in a whine, similar to a naughty kid who wants to get their way, "I might throw myself off a cliff if I have to read anymore articles." he warns, flopping around some more.
you sit up, stretching the ache in your back that formed from being hunched over your studies. you roll your eyes at his dramatics, but you don't think a break is a bad idea. your back is sore and your hand was cramping from all the writing, both are practically begging you to relax.
you break, "okay, let's take a break."
the puppy dog look mark was previously sporting in your direction turns into one of relief, that same smirk he was always wearing making its much anticipated return. "alright, let's get rid of these books, i've got something in mind." he waggles his eyebrows at you, giving you a wink.
that combined with that smirk you're growing to love of his, has some inappropriate thoughts running through your head - dirty ideas increasing as mark quickly gathered all books a loose papers to clear the bed.
thankfully mark doesn't catch your flustered expression because he is too busy placing all your stuff of the floor. "we are watching a movie." he tells you happily, sitting back up on the now clean bedspread.
clearing your mind of its contents, you crawl up towards the top of the bed, joining mark. you let yourself follow suit and lean back against the headboard, supporting your torso. "what movie?" you question curiously, eyeing mark as he clicks through streaming apps on his small tv.
finally he gets to his desired one, searching through the app's favourite list. mark smirks, glancing over at you. "fast & furious obviously."
the opening credits start to play through the bedroom, the film illuminating the dim bedroom.
you groan, looking away from mark in favour of letting you head fall back against the headboard with a thud.
"don't groan yet," mark laughs gently, his thick thigh nudging against yours. "it hasn't even started."
"thank god for that," you tease him, head lulling to the side so you are able look at mark once again. you watch as his lips tug up from your teasing, a small breathy laugh leaving him as he watches the tv.
softly, you smile as well, head turning back towards fast & the furious.
a beat passes.
"wait," mark suddenly alerts, "there's not some weird science thing about a certain side of the bed for movie watching, right?" his lips tug up towards the end of his question, an obvious indicator that he was trying to make fun of you and your weird statistics and knowledge about seats.
in all seriousness, you answer. "oh not for a bed - only the movie theatre."
"oh my god" mark deadpan, turning his attention back to the loud cars on the screen and away from you. "you're such a weirdo."
you giggle to yourself, grabbing one of marks throw blankets from the end of the bed, and pulling the fuzzy material up and over your body.
-
slowly, your eyes flutter open. the warmth of the sun on your face working as a natural alarm clock, waking you from your sleep. your surroundings are unfamiliar in such a sleepy state - noting the navy sheets and patterned bread spread.
then, you take notice of how your cheek feels hot, and how the scent right under your nose was seemingly very familiar. your eyes widen, and under your cheek, marks chest rumbles with laughter.
you were in marks room...in his bed...sleeping on his chest.
"well, hello, sleeping beauty." he says gently above your head. "was the movie really that boring you had to fall asleep on me?"
you roll off marks chest rather quickly, ending your impromptu cuddle session. it is clearly morning based on the sun streaming in his window, meaning you had accidentally slept over at mark's -Â falling asleep sometime during fast & furious.
you wipe your eyes, cringing at the thought of the mascara you never had the chance to remove. you cringe harder thinking about the consequences of not washing your makeup off period. you hope sabrina isn't worried about you and you quickly shoot her a text of your location to end any sort of panic.
for the first time since opening your eyes, you finally meet mark's gaze. he's still lying down, hands behind his head as he looks at you from his spot half under the covers. the position has his biceps flexed perfectly, bulging under his tshirt - you feel yourself get warm from the sight, your body tingling pleasantly.
he quirks a brow at you questionably, still awaiting an answer to his earlier teasing.
clearing your throat, you hum. "well," you begin, your voice groggily and still thick with sleep, "wouldn't watch it again."
slowly, marks lips tug upwards into a lazy smirk. "you missed all the best parts," he tells you through his grin.
you scrunch your nose up in distaste. "I doubt that."
his mouth drops as he laughs. gently, he takes one of his pillows, using it to hit your side. before he can pull back, you grab onto the corner. mark doesn't fight you as you pull it from his grip, hitting him once in the chest with it as you laugh.
"are you guys coming to eat or what?" a voice calls from downstairs, their deep tone muffled through the bedroom door.
your brows pull together in confusion, eyeing mark.
he sits up, "ethan asked if we wanted food like 30 minutes ago, told him we'd be right down." mark whispers to you nonchalantly before shouting out a response to his roommate.
"you should've woken me," you insist, getting out of bed as mark does the same. "don't want them to think i'm rude."
mark shrugs, wordlessly tossing you a hoodie to wear. you pull it over your head immediately, the scent of mark invading your nostrils.
"couldn't wake the princess," he teases.
"shut up," you tell him.
you had only met ethan, marks roommate and teammate in passing the night prior as mark lead you upstairs for your tutoring lesson. the rest of his roommates though you had yet to meet. so breakfast (which consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon and questionably burnt toast courtesy of dylan) was spent chatting and getting to know them.
you found it rather amusing at the way all the boys kept asking you question after question - rather random ones at that. but you enjoyed it nonetheless - serving as a good distraction from the fact you woke up cuddling mark estapa because what the hell.
you shove move eggs in your mouth and ignore thinking too much about your morning surroundings, listening contently as luca fantilli asks what your favourite dinner condiment is (specifically dinner).
you don't notice all the teasing looks mark's friends were giving him when you were distracted. mark pretends he doesn't see the looks either.
the only looks he focuses on are yours - when you meet his eyes over the rim of your mug of orange juice. everytime mark has to fight off a smile.

tutoring lesson 21
"this isn't cute." you deadpanned, eyeing mark from across the small table.
mark smirks gently, titling his head. "no?" he asks you, brows raised curiously. you shake your head, mimicking his no, but definitively rather than questioningly.
"is it convincing, at least?" he hums, his sultry smile turning into a cheeky one - playing at his lips as he leans forward.
you squint at him.
mark sighs dramatically, leaning impossibly closer towards you across the table - so close that if you leaned forward you could kiss him. "please, y/n, you have to come to my game." he pleads.
once he sees you're not budging, mark clasp's his hands together in a loud prayer motion, "pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee-"
quickly, you place a hand over his mouth, eyes wide. "stop whining," you interrupt his plea. "my ear drums are going to start bleeding."
underneath your palm you can feel mark snicker to himself, his eyes twinkling with nothing but mischief as he looks at you.
you blush, removing your hand from his face. you can still feel the way his stubble tickled you skin and the heat of his face on you. it has you blushing deeper, wiping away the tingles.
immediately, mark starts to ask the same question he's been asking you for months. ever since your and mark's relationship has grown from strictly academic agreement to a friendship, he has been asking, begging and telling you that you need to come watch a hockey game.
every single time, you tell him no. the idea of men skating around and bashing into one another didn't sound that inviting. the way mark is looking at you now though, you can feel yourself wanting to break.
he continues, "how about if I get a B or higher on the midterm, you have come to one game."
"mark..." you sigh gently, eyeing him softly.
"just one." mark stresses again, "i'll even get you the ticket. I just want my friend there to watch me play - especially because she's never seen a hockey game." as he speaks, marks forearms falls flat on the table, reaching out so he can grab ahold of your wrists that were resting on top the desk - his thumbs stroking your skin soothingly.
a beat passes.
"okay," you sigh, "but only if you get a B."
mark smiles in victory, giving your wrist one gentle squeeze before releasing you. "you'll love it." he states.
you shrug nonchalantly, "you'll never know how i'll feel about it if you don't get back to studying." your eyes dart between him and his open textbook knowingly.
in all seriousness, mark nods, getting back to his notes as you both study from your early morning test for following day, the dim lights of the study room providing a calming atmosphere as you both concentrated on the task.
mark finds himself focusing on you a little while later- lost in watching you study the material. the way you twisted your hair around your finger, gently sucking on the end of your pen as you intently read the article laid in front of you.
he shuffles in his seat at the sight, clearing his throat and looking down towards his notes quickly. it isn't a moment later when marks eyes gravitate back towards you, his mouth opening slightly as he watches you pull your hair into a yellow claw clip, small wisps falling out to give you that hot librarian look that fulfilled all of marks childhood fantasies.
feeling marks stare, you look up to meet his eyes, raising your brows at his suspicious expression. the pen falls from your lips as you question him. "are you okay?"
"yeah - no," he huffs, "you sucking that pen, fuck - you're kind of turning me on." he admits shamelessly, wiggling in his seat again in a way that has you gawking wordlessly.
"what?" you think you've turned permanently beat red at his confession, eyes blown wide and brows raised towards him.
"you gotta stop before I have to leave," mark laughs gently, rubbing the back of his neck, "it's been awhile since I got laid so that's not helping."
"mark!" you screech, dropping your pen in favour of covering your ears with your palms, blocking out anymore things mark felt the need to admit. "I don't want to know that!"
your loudness has mark laughing, the sight of you getting so easily flustered is just too good. he nudges your foot with his own under the table, a subtle signal that he wasn't going to say anything else to embarrass you and that you could uncover your ears.
slowly you release the press from your palms, the humming of the air conditioning unit coming back to you.
mark doesn't move his foot away, letting it rest between your two under the table. it has you unable to focus for the rest of your booked study room time.
10:59 p.m.

it wasn't often that you'd go out the bars, but you and your two closest friends preferred it over roudy frat parties and nightclubs. after taking your first midterms of the year, you all planned on celebrating with a couple drinks at the local bar.
a place you'd been before, but for some reason the night felt....off. you told sabrina and your other mutual friend, taylor, that you'd get the next round of drinks after using the bathroom but you had an uneasy feeling as soon as you stepped up to the bar alone.
you hadn't yet got the bartenders attention, so you were just waiting off towards the end of the bar, that same weird feeling in your belly.
"hey," a voice said to your left, that unsettling feeling growing as a person joined you - there voice husky and breath too warm against your face. "pretty lame bar right?"
you turn your head to see a guy around your age - in fact, you're pretty sure you've seen him around campus. which would make sense considering the bar was only a 5 minute uber ride from student buildings.
you smile politely, shrugging your shoulders nonchalantly. "eh, all bars seem to be the same anyways." you turn your attention back to the bar, trying to grab the young female bartenders attention so you could get back to your table and leave the presence of this guy. your belly swirls with discomfort once more.
the guy doesn't get the hint, and moves closer to you. "I think i've seen you around campus, it's y/n, right?"
you furrow your brows but nod anyways, "yeah, that's me."
"i'm Landon," he says. "hey, think we should get out of here? talk somewhere quiet?" you feel his hand graze your side and immediately you push away, trying to create a sense of distance between you.
"i'm okay."
"c'mon," he laughs, "it be fun." his lingering touch turns into a harsh grip on your waist, fingers squeezing your ribs through your flowy top.
your brows raise, and you try and push him off of you once more. unfortunately, it's an unsuccessful attempt and your face drops with numbness and panic starts to become unbeatable. "let go of me," you manage to hiss, elbowing his ribs as you try and get him off you.
just when you think you may have to scream out for help, somebody calls out somewhere in the bar. you briefly see a familiar tall figure with soft blonde hair, and you feel like you can breath again.
"hey!" like an angel, mark appears beside you, removing landon's hands off and putting his much larger body between you and the creep before you - making the space you were desperately needing.
mark looks angry - which you didn't think golden retriever mark was capable of. his eyes narrow towards landon, "stop touching my girl like she's a piece of meat, fucking prick."
landon laughs disgustingly as he eyes mark back - a sound that has your skin crawling. although mark has never looked very intimidating, this new found anger makes him seem anything but.
landon doesn't seem to agree as he bites back. "she can do better, bud" unfortunately, he isn't backing down from the confrontation. you become even more nervous than before, quickly searching the crowd to see if you can spot of of marks teammates for a helping hand.
"I can make you look worse," mark threatens, stepping closer. his broad chest practically pushes landon back, and he stumbles once.
landon snickers, pushing him away. you watch him eye mark once more, and then hesitate. thankfully, he finally chooses to back down, stepping away from mark. "whatever man." the creep sends you one more disgusting look as he backs away.
you feel yourself relax immediately, a breath you weren't aware you were holding finally coming out. once landon is no longer in eyesight, mark turns his body fully towards you, eyes rather frantic as he looks over you. "are you okay? he didn't hurt you or anything?"
you shake your head, running a trembling hand through your hand. "I'm okay," you take a deep breath, meeting marks concerned gaze. "I didn't know you were here."
"I'm glad I was," mark says in a tone of something similar to disbelief - disbelief of what he just has to stop assumedly. "what a fucking dick."
you look down at your shoes with embarrassment. you can't believe you were in such a terrible situation in which you felt defenceless. you were embarrassed with yourself for not fighting back stronger. "i'm sorry," you mutter gently, meeting marks eyes again.
his blue gaze is still swimming with worry combined with a million other emotions. marks brows pull together, creating a little divot above the bridge of his nose. he shakes his head slightly, hands reaching up delicately before holding your cheeks in his warm palms, cradling you in his hands. "don't apologize." he tells you gently, a thumb stroking once over your cheekbone.
you swallow thickly, nodding at him. "thank you. you didn't have to go that."
"it's least I could do after everything you've done for me." mark says sincerely and you feel like melting into a soupy puddle right at his feet. then, like he's done it before, his hands travels to the back of your head, using the leverage to pull you into his broad chest, his other hand wrapping around your shoulders.
it was...new and rather nice and you heat up in the best possible way. you let yourself relax into his body, closing your eyes and inhaling his scent as you try and calm your erratic heart rate. immediately, your earlier embarrassment and upset stomach fade away until all you can feel is marks steady heartbeat and his head on top of yours.
"you sure you're okay?" mark pulls back slightly, keeping his hands on you as he dances over your face again. it's all very endearing and overwhelming in the best way.
you nod again, face heating up under his intense gaze, "yeah but i'll probably head out now, not really up for drinks anymore."
"I was actually on my way out before I saw you," mark tells you, "was gunna go to denny's for some pancakes if you wanted to come with."
your stomach rumbles at the thought of fluffy pancakes and sweet syrup with mark. "you sure?"
"I want you to come," mark says gently. "gotta make sure you're okay and not lying to me."
"okay," you say lightly, a smile beginning to blossom at marks sweet words and evident concern for your wellbeing. it was....really nice.
hours later, after a belly full of food and a night of once shock and discomfort turning into one full of laughter with mark, his roommates, and your friends do you register what mark had said to landon.
stop touching my girl.
tutoring lesson 27
your eyes danced over you computer screen as you read over your lesson plan for mark. you were currently waiting for him in the booked study room, the glass door still open for some white noise as you waited for his arrival.
suddenly, the steady sound of students talking amongst themselves and shoes squeaking on the aluminum tiles become more chaotic - an all too familiar voice invading your ears as it splews apologies.
you look up just to see mark weaving through students, making his way quickly towards the study room, apologizing to people as he bumped into them. your brows furrow at his sense of urgency as he approaches.
"mark?" you question once he passes the threshold of the open door, "are you okay?" you quickly give him a once over, checking him for any injures or threats - he looks fine (too fine, your brain reminds you).
mark doesn't answer you question - he can't with how big the smile on his face has grown. he takes two steps towards the desk you're sitting at, giving you a victorious look before slapping a booklet down.
you look down just as mark removes his large hand from the top of the paper, and a shiny B+ grade stares back at you - as well as a ticket to the next michigan wolverines home game.
"not just a B," mark says joyfully, breaking the silence, "but a B+."
you meet his eyes once more, and you can feel your lips beginning to tug upwards. finally, all of marks hard work has payed off and this grade would bring his average up to a B - which was what he was required to have in order to stay in the athletic department at the university of michigan.
"i'm so proud of you," you say truthfully, rounding the table quickly until you are standing in front of him.
mark hugs you - his hands sliding under your open jacket to hold onto you closely. you stiffen slightly at the feeling of his warm palms against your body, but he doesn't seem to notice.
you hug him back just as tightly.
you two pull away from one another shortly after, smiles on both of your faces as you bask in the successful feeling hanging in the air.
like gravitational pull, your eyes wander back over to the test booklet and hockey ticket abandoned on the table.
you purse your lips, reaching out to pick up the thick ticket paper - toying with the edge teasingly. you look up at mark once more, and still he's eyeing you, one brow quirked as he watches you curiously.
"so," you hum, "what does one wear to a hockey game?"

mark
that's right đââď¸
y/n
i'm a little nervous. is that stupid ?
mark
no not stupid. i think you're just excited to see the real men play a real sport đŞ
y/n
omg đ
mark
i've got you a seat with kayleigh - rut's girlfriend. you'll like her
y/n
and how would you know that ??
mark
c'mon y/n/n. you should know how well I know you by now
mark
stand at the glass for warmups. I want to see you
you do really like kayleigh - which, of course you would because as much as you hate to admit it, mark does know you by now. all the months of knowing each other plus the hours upon hours you and him had spent together - it was bound to happen.
something else you should've known was bound to happen was the feelings you've encountered spending so much time with mark. you can't ignore the way your heart rate changes when you see him, or the way you flush when he stares at you all soft. you've become infatuated with the way mark smells and how he pushes your buttons and how kind he is.
the you at the beginning of the school semester would've never expected this from mark estapa. you assumed he was stuck up, and didn't care about his academics or peers. but the real mark was determined and caring and only wanted to make your tutoring experience fun. no wonder you felt like you were falling for him.
kayleigh's small elbow nudges your side, affectively pulling you from your daydreaming.
"looks like you've got an admirer coming your way," kayleigh teases quietly beside you, her perfect sweet smile nothing but comforting.
although your brows furrow, you can't help but smile back instinctually, turning your attention back towards the ice through the glass infront of you - just in time to see mark skate over to the boards where you and kayleigh stand.
he smiles big, coming to a fast stop - ice sliding up and off his skates blades so the glass becomes snowed. mark pushes away any lingering flurries, making your view of him once again clear.
"are you having fun?" he asks you, one of his gloved hands smacking against the glass between you to keep your attention in the loud arena.
his voice muffled the the pane, but you can hear just how happy he is. you nod wordlessly, your own smile making mark's grow bigger.
"good," he says.
you finally notice mark is holding a puck in that hand he used to hit the glass only moments before. you quirk a brow at him, but marks too focused on tossing the puck on the air, signalling to you that he wanted to throw it over.
once he knows you're paying attention and aware of his intentions, mark tosses the puck over the glass, the rubber biscuit falling right into your awaiting hands.
with the most teasing enthusiasm you can manage, you hold the icy puck to your chest, fanning yourself with your other hand. "always such a gentleman."
mark smirks at your remark and then he winks at you - skating away from the glass to continue his warm ups.
you flutter all over.
-
watching the wolverines play turned out to be really enjoyable. the sport itself was better than you expected - it was fast paced and aggressive. it seemed like something was always happening, which kept you interested and focused. you were even more focused on mark though. anytime he was on the ice, you felt yourself slip into a trance. he moved so skillfully and played so aggressively and motivated. you could finally understand to the full extent of why staying on the team was so important to him.
after the game, kayleigh said her and some of the other girls would stay around and wait for the guys to come out of the locker room to greet one another after a win. you weren't going to protest, and blindly followed her through the wolverines area and down towards the players tunnels.
when mark had seen you there, he lit up - greeting you in a warm hug and keeping you in within arms length as you all chatted after their win. when mark insisted he would drive you home and bring you back the next morning for your car - well, you obviously gave in and agreed.
that's how you ended up in mark's car, enthusiastically asking him a million questions about hockey - even the questions that you think seem stupid and are positive he's answered a million times before. mark lets you though, answering you questions with just as much excitement as you have.
mark flicks his blinker on, signaling his pull off on the night lit streets. he expertly parallel parks right infront of your building, turning towards you with a smile still on his face once he turns the car off. "so safe to say you'd come again?"
you let your head fall against the headrest gently, a tired grin taking over your rosy lips. "I would."
mark mimics your position, turning his body towards you in the driver's seat. "seeeee," he drags out with a gin, "I knew you would like it. I said I was smarter than you thought."
you frown slightly, "I knew you were smart."
his smile changes, a more earnest one taking over. marks teasing eyes turn soft as he eyes you in the dark car. "really?"
you nod once, "yeah - well, expect for when you tried to beat my to my seat everyday. I didn't think that was very smart of you."
he chuckles breathily at your teasing, tucking his lip between his teeth to try and contain his grin. "maybe," his voice is quieter, almost a whisper as he leans closer towards you, resting on the middle console. like gravity, you join him, leaning in. mark continues, "I had a reason."
"oh yeah?" you inquire breathlessly, brows quirked in his direction. "and whats that?"
he shrugs and continues to whisper. "maybe I wanted to sit near this pretty girl who sat there."
the air in the car morphs into a thick syrup, turning your skin hot and sticky. your lips tug up in a small but timid smile. "just maybe?"
marks tongue darts out, wetting his bottom lip in a way that has your toes curling and stomach filling with butterflies - bashing against your insides and tickling at your desires.
"most definitely," he shrugs nonchalantly, but the smirk that follows his words are anything but. mark leans in impossibly closer before you can form any thoughts or words. "can I confess something?"
"mhm," you hum, eyes fluttering on instinct.
his voice is deeper than normal, and he sounds so sultry that you may just pass out. "I really want to kiss you right now."
"i'm okay with that," you whisper after a beat of happily thick silence.
the last thing you see is marks beautiful smirk as he reaches up and grabs ahold of your face - nudging his nose against yours once, gently, before resting it against yours. finally, after weeks of wanting him to, mark leans in, pressing his lips to yours.
mark kisses in a way we weren't expecting. his lips were soft but he was rougher in his movements - confident in the way he held you and slotted his lips with yours. you're coming to realize that everything about mark is unexpected in the best way.
by the time you've pulled away, you're both breathless. the press of mark's forehead on yours helps keep you grounded, and you laugh lightly.
"can I confess something else," he breathes, that teasing smile still staring back at you.
"if it's as good as the last thing you confessed i'm all ears." you smile, brushing the tip of your nose across his.
he laughs once as you pull back again, shaking his head slightly as he admires you. "you're still turning me on." mark grins boyishly.
you squeal with laughter, smacking his chest gently. "mark!" you drag out, "you're so gross."
"yeah." he whispers, half and agreement half a question. he leans back in, connecting your lips again. you blush, hands resting against his neck as you reciprocate the kiss.
â
all night, you couldn't stop thinking about mark. which was inevitable considering he had slept over at your place, both of crammed in your tiny twin bed -laughing and talking (and making out) until the early hours of the morning.
he drove you back to the arena the next morning and on the ride there anytime you thought of how mark's gangly feet hung off the end of your bed, you'd enter a fit of laughter - and everytime mark knew you were making fun of him, so he would tickle your side quickly to annoy you.
it was all so domestic and tooth rooting levels of sweet your stomach hurt in the best way.
mark kissed you gooodbye before he had to go home and shower before his afternoon classes, and all was good and perfect and you really like him.
then the evening came, and you hadn't heard from him since he dropped you off. you didn't think too much of it though, assuming he was probably exhausted. a hockey game as well as a shitty and short sleep was bound to have him passed out for the night.
but then the next day was also radio silent. no pointless texts or facetime calls. no memes in your direct messages or unfunny tiktok's waiting on the app.
the third day, the day of your shared morning class, you spot him. mark doesn't look sick or tired and you can see his phone in his pocket meaning he still has one and it's working - every and any excuse you've made for mark about his sudden silence is no longer plausible. he was just simply ignoring you.
you march over, grabbing his forearm before he can walk into class. he looks confused at first, but once mark sees that it's you touching him, his eyes widen ever so slightly, face pale as he takes in your angry and confused expression.
"have a second?" you ask with faux sweetness. you don't wait for a reply, gripping his arm tighter and dragging him away from the entrance of the class. you march down the hall until its quieter, releasing his arm and turning to face him once the coast seems to be clear.
you raise a brow in his direction, "you're ignoring me."
"am I?" he asks awkwardly, running a hand through his hair nonchalantly.
you roll your eyes. "don't play stupid mark - we both know you're not stupid." you grit out, arms crossing over one another as you stare him down. "I don't understand what happened. I thought we were friends? I thought..." you trail off, swallowing thickly as emotion starts to scratch away at your throat.
a beat passes.
"thought what?" marks asks you harshly. his tone of voice has you confused, and you shuffle backwards, putting some distance between you. tears start to claw at your eyes, stinging you.
he laughs slightly, "I mean, listen, thanks for tutoring me and all but we're good now. we can go back to just classmates or whatever."
"are you being for real?" you whisper. your once angry crossed arms have turned into ones of defence, wrapping around you like a soft hug.
"yeah," he clears his throat, eyeing the floor "we're done now, I don't need you hanging around anymore and telling me what to do."
he couldn't even look at you. you purse your lips, nodding in a disgusted understanding. "fine," you say, "we're done then."
you ignore the way your voice cracks, turning heel and waking away from mark. you pass right by the open door of the lecture hall, not having the emotional capacity to be in the same space as the guy who just broke your heart.
â
you spent the following day wallowing in your own tears and self pity. you can't help but think that you've read his signals incorrectly. you think mark was only being civil to make your arrangement easier. he didn't want to be friends with you or date you - maybe he just wanted to hook up with you and then dump you. that thought is the worst of them all.
when you told sabrina the short conversation you last had with him, she was of course angry because, in her words, 'who does he think he is? fucking with you like that!'
she quickly assured you that you didn't do anything wrong and if his intentions weren't to pursue anything but friendship with you - he failed miserably.
a week after your brief fight with mark outside your shared lecture hall, you sit in your sweats on the living couch. still very much grumpy and angry with the wolverines player.
you were waiting for sabrina to get back from work before turning on the previous nights episode of the bachelor - munching on oreos and scrolling your phone aimlessly when you hear a knock at the door.
without thinking much of it, you make your way over. sabrina, as much as you love her, is a very forgetful person and it was often you had to let her back into your shared place after she'd forget her set of keys.
expect it's not sabrina, and your teasing remark dies on your tongue.
"i'm sorry." mark breaths as soon as the door opens between you. "I fucked up."
your momentary shock subsides and you laugh in disbelief, "yeah. you did." you shut the door in his face, walking away. if mark couldn't even find it in himself to look you in the eye while he broke your heart and told you that you were nothing more than a tutor - why should you let him look at you now.
"please, y/n/n," he pleas through door. softly, his forehead hits the wood, a dull thud echoing through your home. "i'm here to apologize."
you wouldn't let yourself cry - you've done enough crying the past week for years and years to come. you've done plenty enough crying over some stupid hockey player.
without a response from you, mark takes a deep breath, momentarily closing his eyes as he tries to gather his scattered thoughts.
"I said stupid things to you," he starts against your closed door, "stupid things I didn't mean. you are more than just my tutor okay? I do still need you because you're important to me. I only pushed you away because - fuck - i've never felt these feelings before and you made me nervous. honestly, you still make me nervous."
mark can't find it in himself to care that your neighbours - possible classmates of his even, could be and are most likely listening in as he talks to you through the door you shut in his face.
he sighs again, silently cursing to himself.
"awhile ago...when I walked you home after we ran into one another at that street party," he pauses, wetting his lips. the action feels useless, all moisture in his mouth feels gone. "you asked me why I took your seat that second day. y/n, I took that seat only on the pure hope you'd sit in it again. when I saw you that first day of classes, I thought you were the most beautiful girl i'd ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on. so the next day, I took it because I wanted any excuse to talk to you.
when you started going on about the importance of that seat that day, I knew you'd try and get it back....so I took the opportunity and tried to take it before you because I wanted you to interact with me...even just a little. and I would do it again if it meant I'd get to know you the way you've allowed me to."
mark is still alone in your buildings hallway. he listens intently against the door, but he doesn't hear any shuffling. it's silent - you're not coming back to him. his eyes close with disappointment - not with you but himself.
he pulls out his phone and opens your text thread.
your phone buzzes against the counter top and you look over quickly. the skin around your thumb is probably thanking you as you drop it from between your teeth - a nervous habit you'd always had.
you use a shoulder to wipe the tears that had leaked from your eyes, opening your phone to see a text.
a pre-made playlist from mark estapa is staring at you.
"I fucked up, i'm so so so sorry."
you sniffle quitley, scrolling through the few songs he'd curated for you.
mark speaks again, "I made you this. its okay if you don't want to talk, okay? fuck, I just needed to apologize -"
his voice becomes clear as you pull open the door that separates you from him and his apology is put to a halt. he looks shocked and nervous at the same time - the top of his cheekbones flushed and the rest of his face pale. you've never seen mark look so distraught and immediately, you know he is feeling guilty.
"you know you fucked up, right? like you're not just saying it so that ill forgive you and you can get into my pants?"
marks brows are pulled tight and he frowns roughly, "no, definitely not. I really fucked up and i'm really fucking sorry. you don't even need to forgive me but I just need you to know that I didn't mean any of that bullshit last week."
you still look hesitant, eyeing him as he stands before you. mark sighs gently, taking the smallest step towards you. "I need you, y/n. I need you like I need hockey and need the sun. you've become one of my best friends and I can't imagine not sitting beside you in class anymore. you're the reason i'm still playing hockey." he pauses. "I need you because I'm falling for you, y/n. and I can't go another day of hiding it."
"can I confess something?" you whisper waterly. you don't wait for a reply and continue, "I really like you and have for awhile now. I'm falling for you even harder - and," you take a deep breath, your body falling limp as you stare up at him. "...I really want to kiss you."
that smirk you love oh so much is back, and so is the colour in marks face. you smile with him just as he kisses you. the feeling so warm and familiar and right.
you've always loved statics and facts. one you've always found fascinating is how only 28% of college relationships end up marrying. now, logically speaking, that's isn't very high but as you stand in your doorway, mark estapa's hands in your hair and his lips on yours - you think that you may be apart of that statistic.
thank god for your seat war.

Rose Bowl, Baby! J. McCarthy
JJ McCarthy x fem!reader
synopsis - JJ wins it all, and he has his girl right with him the whole time.
wc - 2k!
contains - THIS IS SOOOOOO CUTE AWWW, cursing, stressed!reader (ME TOO AS FUCK), fluff, kissinnnnnnn, hugginnnnn, cute shit, FUCK THE TIDE :D, um that's it! oh established relationship!
an - unedited lol sorry i just wrote this in like two hours! đJJđBABYđWONđđđđđđđ I WAS SHOUTING AND SCREAMING AND I DANCED. especially because my mother, brother, and sister were all pulling for Bama to make me mad. LAUGHED IN THEIR FACES LMAOOOOO. i was on facetime with my man for like half the game since i am a umich student... WAIT DO U GUYS KNOW THAT....? i dont think ive told u guys that... SURPRISE!!!!!! anyway no one reads these anyway so. ENJOYYYYYYYYYYY :)))))))!
-
One minute and thirty eight seconds. One minute and thirty eight seconds, that's how long JJ and the Wolverine's offense had to score a touchdown. 2nd & Goal, four yards to go. You held JJ's mom's hand as you took deep breaths, desperately trying to calm down. JJ could do this, you knew it. You stared him down as he stood infront of Coach Harbaugh, Alabama had called the last time out of the game.
Michigan needed this score to take the game to overtime. JJ knew, you knew, everyone did. Once JJ clapped in the middle of the huddle, the offense started dispersing back into their spots on the field. Jay's eyes met yours, they had multiple times all night. He knew exactly where you sat, he'd made you text him your seat numbers before the game. You let go of his mom's hand and gestured your hands over your ears, headphones, you always told him. Just pretend it's just you and your guys. Block out everything else. He nodded at you, cracking a little smile before taking a deep breath and running out to the field, putting his helmet back on. His mom melted over the interaction, leaving you blushing.
You crossed your fingers and said a prayer, you'd prayed more than once tonight, you'd been praying about this games for weeks. You held his mom's hand in one of yours, and gripped your 'J' necklace in your other, bouncing on the balls of your feet. The play clock was running low, JJ clapped his hands, beckoning for the ball. It went straight to his hands, he looked around for maybe a second before passing precisely to Roman. He caught it, he had an open lane, he's in the end zone! Holy shit, he's in the end zone!
You jumped, screaming JJ's name, turning to hug his parents. You jumped up and down, a grin wide on your face as you cheered for your boy. His mom wrapped an arm around you as you watched him tearily.
The next Michigan drive was messy, and had you scared, but when the time ran out, you were jumping up and down, shouting and cheering, hugging everyone around.
"Our boy did it!"
You nodded, laughing as you wiped tears from your eyes. The game wasn't over, you knew that. JJ's eyes found yours again, he shook his head in disbelief with a grin, gesturing headphones to you. You nodded, fanning your face from the tears, but smiling so wide it didn't matter.
You sighed happily when you watched Alabama defer their OT possession, that's what JJ wanted, if the game went to overtime, he wanted to go first, it would put more pressure on The Crimson Tide to go second in the long run.
You held your necklace close to your mouth as you closed your eyes, letting out deep breaths. JJ had this, you knew it.
The offensive and defensive lines faced each other at the Alabama 25. JJ clapped, the ball was sent straight to his hands, he quickly handed the ball off the Blake, who scurried around the defenders, landing at the Alabama 17. 'Thank God for Blake Corum' you whispered to yourself.
You saw JJ hiding a smile behind his mouth guard, and you knew this was it. Jay claps, and the ball is snapped straight to him, the ball goes straight to Blake, who has a completely open lane.
"Go Blake, go!"
You screamed out, feeling Megan's hand grip yours. You held your intertwined hands up, watching Blake run. He was in the end zone, yes!
"Yes! JJ, yes!"
You screamed, jumping up and down you as watched your boy cheer. He did it! Thank God! You hugged everyone again, cheering some more when the kick went through the posts. The game still wasn't over, the defense still had to come out and play this game. You knew JJ wouldn't be able to assist his team anymore on the field, but you also knew he was now gonna be the biggest hype man for his defensive teammates.
You bit on your dark blue acrylic nails as you watched Alabama line up at the Michigan 25. You winced as the game went from 3rd & goal at the Michigan 14 to 4th & goal at the Michigan 3. One more play, make or break.
You saw Jalen Milroe clap for the ball, and run straight into the O-line of Michigan. Nothing! He got nothing! Oh my God, Michigan won! You watched JJ sprint onto the field as you screamed, jumping up and down for the third time. Your heart was beating out of your chest as you shouted, hugging Michigan fans you didn't know. Your smile couldn't have been punched off of your face.
The blue and maize confetti flew, you watched tearily as the Michigan guys flooded the field. You watched JJ grab his rose, talking to a reporter. His bright smile and gorgeous face was spread on every screen in the stadium. Your boy had done it, finally. You watched as your sweet boy accepted the Rose Bowl trophy with Blake, his smile never leaving his face.
You ran down the few rows to the bottom row of the bleachers, standing with other Michigan player families as the boys were dispersing back to the sideline, finding their loved ones. JJ, being the star quarterback he was, took a while longer to get over to you guys, but it didn't matter to you.
You two locked eyes, matching smiles on your faces as he ran over to your group. You let him talk to his parents and sisters first, before he moved over to you.
"Come'ere baby!"
You grinned as you leaned down over the barrier, JJ's hands grabbing at your waist to safely pull you closer, kissing you passionately. Your hands cupped his face, as you both smiled into the kiss. You pulled away, whispering to him with a big smile.
"You did it lovey!"
He nodded, his bright smile lighting up your heart.
"Can you just jump the barrier instead of going back through the halls?"
"S'that allowed?"
He looked around, quickly asking an employee of the stadium standing down against the barrier. The employee looked at JJ with wide eyes, nodding at the quarterback, though he probably didn't exactly have the position to answer him.
"See? You're fine, c'mon angel!"
You looked around, seeing one of the guy's little brother being passed over the barrier, then to Megan who shrugged with a smile, nodding for you to go ahead. You slide your phone in the pocket of your jeans, sitting on the barrier before turning around towards JJ, who held his hands on your waist.
"Can't believe I'm doin' this."
JJ laughed, pulling you down as you slightly jumped off the wall, down into his arms on the field. You quickly wrapped your arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.
"I'm so proud of you, Jay. You are so talented, baby."
He pulled away from you, cupping your face with his hands, touching his forehead to yours.
"Just had to remember my headphones, like always."
You nodded, laughing and kissing him again, JJ leaned back, your feet leaving the ground for a few seconds as he kissed you. You both pulled away giggling. You got a random burst of energy, electricity pulsing through your veins.
"Ah! Oh my God, you won!"
You pulled away from JJ, grabbing his hands and jumping up and down. His smile widened, he was so, absolutely in love with you, but watching you support him so wholeheartedly, made his heart squeeze extra with love.
"Yeah! I got the Rose Bowl, baby!"
JJ's family came through the tunnel, having chose the safer route to get to the field. He hugged his family, talking with them and taking pictures. You took a few of them on your phone, smiling sadly at how cute they were.
"Angel! Come take a picture with me!"
You smiled, nodding as you went over to your smiley boyfriend. He took his winner's hat off and plopped it onto your head, it was sweaty, but you didn't care. You did one picture standing next to each other, his arm around your hips as you both smiled brightly. Then there was one where JJ kissed your cheek out of nowhere, then another taken the moment after where you both laughed as you wiped the eyeblack he spread to you off of your cheek.
They were adorable, objectively. Your group was soon exiting down the tunnel, bidding JJ goodbye with a quick kiss as he walked back towards the locker room.
Once you were all reunited with JJ he told you all he wanted to go back to the hotel and get food delivered to the hotel. That was your boy, even after the big win all he wanted to do was go back to his bed.
You got back to the hotel after a long car ride through Rose Bowl traffic, and quickly went up to your room. You and JJ were sharing, though he was technically supposed to be in his football assigned hotel room, he was crashing in yours. His parents knew, you two were trusted, and old enough to make your own decisions.
You showered as Jay laid in your bed, watching the Texas and Washington game. You came out of the bathroom in your pajamas, quickly crawling into bed next to JJ. He pulled you inbetween his legs, wrapping his arms around your middle. You were both tired, him more than you. You noticed the plastic bag sitting on the nightstand.
"What'd you get us to eat?"
You kissed him when he told you he got chicken tenders. You both watched the Sugar Bowl as you ate your dinner. You both got up to throw away your trash and brush your teeth before turning off all the lights and getting right back in bed. JJ watched the game as you laid on his chest, scrolling through your phone, showing him TikToks and Instagram posts of videos taken of you two from the game every little bit. You two were going viral among the teenage girls and fan pages.
When the game finished JJ turned off the TV, and you put your phone away as you two shifted so that JJ was laying with his head on your chest. You played with his sandy hair as you talked.
"I still can't believe all of it, it's just crazy."
"Well I can believe it, I knew you could do it. You know I was scared when we were getting close to the end of regulation, but then I saw you smile right before your last play of the regulation TD run, you know right before Roman got the touchdown, and I just knew it."
JJ looked up at you in the dark, he had hearts in his eyes. You were everything to him, just completely everything.
"I love you so much."
"I love you, baby. 'M so proud of you."

When Emma Falls In Love â Luke Hughes
Summary: In which watching your roommate Emma and her trials of love, makes you realize your in love with your best friend
Content Warning; Heartbreak, Insecurities, Pining Luke & Oblivious Reader, UMich Luke
Pairing: Fem Reader & Luke Hughes
You were sprawled across Emmaâs bed scrolling through your instagram feed as Emma tried on various outfits for whatever date she was going on tonight. You spoke as you tossed your phone on the bed beside you, âYou barely know this guy Em, why are you stressing over your outfit?â Emma shrugged, âItâs easy to go on dates, keeping guys is hard. I donât know how you and Luke do it.â Your cheeks flushed red, âIâve told you a million times me and Luke arenât a thing.â Emma shrugged, âMaybe you should be.â
You sighed and rolled off the bed, âHeâd never see me like that, wear the pink dress and the silver heels. Hair down pink lipstick no lashes.â You walked out of her bedroom and laid on the couch and turned it on to whatever old timey movie was playing. You scrolled on your phone debating on what to doordash for your dinner. Emma walked out of her room and struck a pose in front of you.
You looked up from your phone and smiled, âYou look amazing Em. Have fun.â The doorbell rang and Emma scurried to the door with a huge grin on her face as she opened the door. James or Jake stood on the opposite side of the door holding a bouquet of flowers. Emma smiled and placed the flowers in a vase by the door as she waved bye to you and headed out.
Two weeks later you were in the same position, laying on the couch as Emma slipped on a pair of UGG boots. You looked up from your psychology textbook, âWhatâs tonightâs occasion?â Emma smiled, âOne of the hockey guys asked me to go to some ice skating rink with him and some hockey guys. Didnât Luke ask you?â You shook your head, âNope, heâs been ghosting me anyways.â Emma smiled as she slipped her coat over her shoulders, âYou have to put yourself out there honey.â You shrugged as you shut your book, âMaybe someday.â
Luke let out a deep breath as he paced outside your door, Dylan had tried to get Luke to ask you out to the ice skating rink tonight. He was sweaty and panicked as he stood on the other side of the door holding flowers. He rang the doorbell and turned around in panic as the door opened. Your voice filled his ears, âEm, your dates here!â Luke felt his hands clam up, âNo Y/N wait, Iâm here for you. I was wondering if youâd go to this thing with me tonight?â
You smiled at your best friend, âSure Luke, what are friends for?â Luke felt his mouth dry up, âOkay. Do you want me to wait for you or do you want to meet me there?â You smiled, âYou can come in Luke, Iâll be like 10 minutes.â You went to your room and pulled on a pair of jeans and a UMich hoodie. You pulled your hair out of your face and slipped on a pair of boots. You entered the living room where Luke sat on your coach awkwardly.
You smiled, âLetâs go.â Luke smiled as the two of you headed for his car. The drive to the ice skating rink was awkward to say the least. You had gotten to the ice rink and in record time you, Emma and Rutgerâs girlfriend Parker were off skating away from the boys to regroup. Parker smiled at you, âSo Y/N, you and Luke?â You shrugged, âI donât think so. I donât think he sees me like that.â Parker shrugged, âWell your boys on his way towards us. Better find out.â
You smiled softly as Luke approached you and held his arm out, âCan we talk?â You nodded, âSure Luke, letâs skate for a bit.â Luke intertwined your hands as you skated around for a bit and eventually stopped near the center of the rink. Luke spoke breathlessly and rushed out, âI love you.â You looked at your best friend confused, âI love you too Luke, your the best person I know.â Luke shook his head, âNo, you donât understand. Iâm in love with you. I mean I wake up and I think about you. I go to sleep and I think about you. I just am so in love with yo-â
You cut him off by smashing your lips against his. His lips immediately were on yours. You pulled away breathlessly, âIâm in love with you too Luke Warren Hughes. You are the one constant in my life.â You pressed your forehead against Lukeâs as you held his face in your hands. You were broken out of your daze by Emmaâs loud squeals. You looked up at the falling snow around you. Luke grinned sheepishly, âHowâs that for a first kiss?â You smiled up at him, âWith you? Itâs perfect.â

Samy meeting willâs teammate for the first time
another semi different iteration of samy meting some of willâs teammates when theyâre in detroit for a game and she drives out to see them
au masterlist
âhiii,â the girl grins when she sees her boyfriend coming out of the locker room. the blonde quickly grins, already opening his arms to wrap her into a hug. âhi baby,â he smiles.
âsorry you guys lost, but you played well like always,â samy pecked his cheek and the boy smiled despite the disappointing loss.
âitâs okay, iâm just glad to see you for a second,â he hummed even though the time they had was not nearly enough for either of their liking. the sharks were due in winnipeg tomorrow meaning willâs bus was leaving in less than an hour.
âme too. howâs your week been?â the couple tried making the most of the now 50 minutes they had together.
âitâs been okay. busy with hockey,â will said not to complain because heâd never get sick of playing, just tired with how much theyâve been doing recently. samy nodded, âmake sure youâre taking care of yourself.â
âi am, donât worry. make sure youâre taking care of yourself too,â will poked her arm and she flushed.
âyeah, i am. donât worry either.â
âhowâs your week been now that soccerâs over?â will turned the conversation to her because he liked it a lot better when they were talking about her and not him and his things.
âitâs been a little weird, but we still have offseason stuff, so not too different. it is nice to slow down for a bit though,â the brunette grinned, leaning against the wall now. âiâm glad itâs been good for you. you deserve a break after the very successful season,â will chuckled.
âhey pup. hey hughes,â will eklund had come out of the locker room, a bright smile on his face.
âhey eklund. good to see you again,â samy offered a polite hug to the older blonde.
âyou too. sorry you had to see us lose,â eklund frowned.
âitâs alright. you guys still played well,â the girl said. behind eklund came tom, jack, fabian, tyler, macklin, and henry. they caught sight of the three standing along the wall and made their way over to offer a hi to samy.
âhey little hughes,â tom greeted her in another friendly hugâhis new nickname for her that everyone seemed to call her.
âoh shit, youâre hughes! pupâs girlfriend!â fabian exclaimed and the girl flushed when the other guysâ faces lit up at the revelation.
âthatâd be me. itâs good to meet you all,â she grinned.
âwe hear a lot about you,â henry teased a bit and eyed will. he avoided their gazes in hopes of avoiding the blush creeping up his neck.
âiâve heard iâm the talk of the locker room sometimes,â samy raised her eyebrow.
ânot in a bad way, donât worry. we just like to poke at our rookie and figure out more about his life. it seems like youâre the one who makes him smile all the time whenever heâs looking at his phone,â toffoli teased the younger boy by roughing up his shoulder. samy watched her boyfriendâs entire face turn beet red, but she thought his blush was cute.
âwell iâm glad to hear iâm making him smile that hard,â samy squeezed willâs hand.
âwe heard from pup too that you just won the womenâs soccer cup?â jack wondered and the girl quickly beamed. sheâd never get tired of talking about her recent win.
âyeah, i did. my team and i won the ncaa championship for the first time in a few years.â
âthatâs wicked cool. congrats, by the way,â jack smiled.
âthank you. oh, my roommate would want me to tell you guys this, but we loved that holiday inflatables video. best thing ever. she was laughing for hours after,â samy added which had all the guys smiling.
âah, thank you. it got a lot of hits. weâre thinking about making rapping our day job,â fabian said and samy giggled.
âi mean, i think you guys could go far. or make another music video at least,â the boys agreed, appreciating her words. she glanced back at will who playfully shook his head.
they managed to keep her talking for at least another fifteen minutes. whenever samy got talking she talked no matter who it was. it was feature will loved and hated sometimes. he loved that she could quickly get along with any of his teammates, but it also cut short the time they had together.
he glanced at his phone again to check the time now seeing that there only 30ish minutes minutes left. as much as he loved seeing more of his teammates and girlfriend get along, will wanted a bit more time alone before he had to leave, so he eyed macklin in hopes that heâd help drag the others away.
the younger brunette took the hint fairly quickly, âhey guys, we should probably make sure we have all of our things before we head out.â
âshit, yeah, youâre right. well, it was good seeing you again,â eklund smiled, waving bye to samy. she waved to all of the players as they went back down the hallway to recheck the locker room for their things. her gaze fell back to will.
âtheyâre so nice,â she grinned.
âfor you, yeah,â he laughed. they were never as behaved in the locker room but the blonde was grateful they didnât say anything stupid in front of her.
âwell either way, i think you have a good team. they definitely love you,â she squeezed his hand again which will reciprocated as he squeezed back.
âi agree. i like them too.â
the couple talked a bit more until will figured he needed to leave and double check he had everything before getting on the bus. the two exchanged a loving, tight hug and a sweet kiss o the lips.
âiâll miss you,â will hummed.
âiâll miss you too. get to winnipeg safely,â samy squeezed the boyâs biceps which made the boy flush anytime she squeezed a part of his body that werenât his hands.
âyou get back to ann arbor safely. text me, okay?â the boy made her promise and she quickly agreed.
âi promise, i will. i love you.â
âi love you. ugh, i wish we had more time,â will frowned, not wanting to let go quite yet.
âme too. fifty minutes is not enough time at all, but iâll see you super soon, okay?â
the hockey player nodded, reluctantly letting go. samy pecked his lips one last time before walking away first because if she didnât, will would never let her go.

jack's best friend always treating luke like a younger brother but he's just so obviously in love with her
my personal theory is that luke falls and pines hard
he can get a little đ¤ delusional
also- quinn would think luke pining is hilarious
movie day, lh43
a quiet knock on your door knocked you out of your book, head turning in the direction of your bedroom door at the hughesâ lake house and casing your hoodie to droop out of its spot and into your eyes
you took it off your head, telling whoever it was to come in and closing your book in your lap. you smiled when you saw luke, looking like a deer in headlights
âhi, lukey. whatâs up?â his face went rosy and you adjusted in your bed, fixing the blanket on your lap.
âum. supperâs ready. quinn made grilled cheese. heâs calling it gourmet,â he scratched the back of his neck and you giggled, biting your lip slightly
âwould you mind bringing it up for me? ďżźim pretending to be mad at your brother so im having âmovie dayâ without him. iâve just been reading,â you added movie day in air quotes, and luke finally cracked a smile, nodding at you and quietly turning to go back downstairs and grab your food
when he came back, he had his plate as well, and he gave you a sheepish look.
âi thought maybe we could have actual movie day, so i brought mine. can iâŚ?â he trailed off, shifting his weight onto one leg
you nodded happily, moving over in your bed and patting the spot next to you.
luke grinned to himself, making his way over and sitting down, stiffening slightly when you leaned against him and took your plate from his hand
âyou can pick the movie, lukey,â you handed him the remote, taking a bite of your sandwich and grinning when you determined that quinnâs gourmet grilled cheese was made with kraft singles.
he flicked through the movies on some of the apps you were already logged in on, eventually landing on xmen first class and looking down at you to confirm that what heâd chosen was okay
you nodded slightly, adjusting further into his shoulder and taking the remote from him to turn up the volume.
his face went hot when your hand had brushed his, and he quickly took a bite of his food to try and mask how flustered heâd gotten from just a small touch
âi told jack we were watching top gun, just to egg him on,â he whispered, eyes lighting up when you smiled and laughed.
his eyes stayed mostly on you throughout the movie, especially after youâd both finished eating and you started playing with his hair. youâd moved up so his head was on your chest, eyes zoned on the movie while he looked up at you, enamoured.
eventually, he nestled closer, grabbing your attention.
luke wasnât a world renowned cuddler, so it raised suspicion. âyou okay, lukey?â you brushed his hair out of his face and he nodded sleepily, pretending to be focused on the movie
you giggled âsleepy?â he hummed in response, bringing his eyes back up to yours.
âyouâre not usually a snuggler, just wanted to make sure. you can talk to me, lu,â you squeezed his face a little, earning a smile
he knew that your words were meant to be coming off as jacks best friend, whoâd been around for years, just wanting to help someone youâd known forever
but deep down he really, really wished that your words were meant to be subtle flirting, or letting him know how you felt
âif you fall asleep you can just stay, lukey,â you ruffled his hair, turning your head back to the movie
he nodded into you, tucking his head up into your neck
âthank you, baby,â he stiffened at his own words, the pet name coming out by accident
you only kissed his temple, not paying any mind to it.
he sighed in relief and closed his eyes, trying to fall asleep

more ways than one
in which...
luke shows up to fem! reader's college soccer game.
Luke scanned his ticket, walking into the stadium. He had a really big test coming up, but the second Mark, Ethan, and Dylan invited him to watch the girlâs soccer team take on Michigan State, he dropped everything and headed towards the stadium.
âI heard that Y/N girl is really good.â Ethan said, leading the group of boys to their seats.Â
Mark hummed, âIs that the girl who absolutely destroyed you at beer pong last week?â Markâs comment caused the boys to laugh, and Ethan to grimace.Â
âYeah.â
âWell if her soccer skills are anything like her beer pong skills, Iâd say that what you heard is right.â Luke stated, getting a few more jabs at Ethan.
Dylan chirped in, âSheâs only a sophomore and sheâs captain and sheâs leading the whole NCAA in goals. I mean, why do you think her friends called her the âsophomore sniperâ when they introduced her at the party?âÂ
Mark laughed at Dylanâs slight rant, âSounds like someone has a little crush.â
âI do not! I just did my research before coming here.â Dylan retorted. âIf anything Lukeâs the one with the crush. He told us he had a huge test coming up, but the second we mention girls soccer, he drops everything. A little suspicious, no?âÂ
A warm feeling rose to Lukeâs face. Knowing Dylan was right, he just laughed it off and stayed quiet.Â
Luke had approached you at said party because the second he laid eyes on you the boy was smitten. The two of you talked the whole night, but by the end of it you were both too drunk to remember to exchange numbers. Sure, he couldâve asked around the fraternity, but he wasnât sure if you remembered your interaction at all. So he saw this game as a perfect opportunity to get your number.Â
You could hear the laughter approaching close to the field. It was familiar, but you didnât care enough to turn around as you were on your 47th juggle.Â
âNo way you get 70!â Your teammate, Jules, exclaimed.Â
You laughed, âNot if you keep talking!â
She chuckled as she watched you closely. Soon enough, you had passed seventy, nearing ninety. You hit 86, wanting to go for more but your coach called out your name, telling you to go meet with the refs to decide which side you wanted. Settling the ball with a groan, Jules grabbed your hand and pulled you to the midfield with a slight tug.Â
You greeted the refs and the opposing teamâs captains with a slight smile. When you went to shake one of the girlsâ hands, they both side-eyed each other, looking you and Jules up and down, then refusing your hand.Â
Furrowing your brows, you let out a small scoff at their attitudes, but let it go as you picked âtailsâ for the coin flip.Â
It was heads, and they picked having the right side of the field, meaning youâd have the ball first. As you walked away, heading back to the rest of your team, Julesâs laughter filled your ears.Â
âOh my god! The attitude they had?â She laughed.Â
You gave her a smile, âI know! On our field too.â
The closer you got to the sidelines, your eyes couldnât help but take a glance at the group of boys who had sat down laughing. The second you could make out their features, a smile grew on your face. Luke was sitting there, along with three other boys which you quickly realized as his hockey teammates. You had been trying to get his number ever since the interaction you had at the party, but never found the right time to. In your head, you promised yourself youâd get it tonight.Â
You decided to snap out of your thoughts and nudged Jules, âLook. Your boy toy is here.âÂ
Julesâs eyes widened as she followed your eyes, âWhat the hell are they doing here?â She walked over to the fence to say something you couldnât quite hear, but figured she called Ethan over as he walked down a few steps to talk to her.Â
Not caring enough to eavesdrop, you walked towards the rest of your team, letting them know youâd have ball first. They nodded, going back to their warm up. You took a glance up at the scoreboard which had the clock displayed on it. There was around five minutes left, and you wanted to do some long passing.Â
âJules!â You called out, bringing her attention back to you.Â
She said something to Ethan before jogging back towards you. âSorry. Long passes?â You nodded, âWhat was that about?
âThey invited us to get some food after the game. You down?â
âIs Luke gonna be there?â You asked.Â
Jules smirked at your question, âYeah. Why?âÂ
You left her question unanswered, smiling as you walked away from her with a ball at your feet.
Five minutes went by quickly, as you heard the whistles blowing, telling you that the game was about to start. You jogged towards your team, listening to a quick pep talk before getting ready to hear the starting line up and National Anthem.Â
You blanked out during the whole process, too focused on the game ahead of you. By the time you knew it, the whistle blew and you passed the ball to one of your teammates.Â
Knowing exactly what play you were running, the second you saw the ball get to Jules, who was playing at the left wing, you made a diagonal run towards the goal. It was a high cross, but you managed to settle it at your feet before taking a shot from the 20 yard line. You watched as the ball soared towards the top corner of the net, making its way past the keeperâs gloves.Â
You ran towards Jules, who was waiting for you at the corner flag. The two of you did the handshake you did every single time one of you assisted the other's goal, before hugging each other, then the rest of you teammates.Â
As you ran back down the field to restart, you couldnât help but take a glance up at the stands. They were decently packed, but your eyes quickly found the ones you were looking for.
You saw Luke sit back down from his standing position and to no oneâs surprise he was looking right at you. You pointed at him with a smile and he quickly returned the action.Â
While you focused back on the game, Luke was getting teased by his friends.Â
âOoo! Lukeyâs got game!â Ethan exclaimed, shaking his friend by the shoulders.Â
Luke laughed, âShut up.â
~âŠ~
The game ended an hour or so later, the final score being 4-2. You had scored three of those four goals, earning you a post-game interview with some reporters who had shown up at the game.Â
They had decided to interview you on the sidelines. This meant you were close enough to be near your team, but also close enough so Luke and the other guys could hear what you were saying.Â
âY/N, amazing performance out there tonight! What would you say is the biggest factor in your training that makes you such a valuable player out there?â The interviewer asked, bringing a mic close to your face.Â
âThe conditioning, for sure. I mean, weâre making a lot of long back and forth runs out there and weâre able to do so consistently because of that conditioning.â You answered, smiling slightly to take away the nerves you were feeling.
The interviewer nodded, âYou pointed to someone after that first goal. Was it a family member, a friend, orâŚ?âÂ
You let out a soft laugh, âUm, no. It was a good friend of mine that I'm meeting up with after this."
Luke heard your words, as did his friends. His eyes widened at your statement, specifically the part where you said you were hoping to meet up with him.Â
âOh shit!â Mark exclaimed, âBro, she's talking about you!" He shook his head, âWe donât even know if sheâs talking about me. She couldâve been pointing at one of you.â The boys laughed at his statement.
âIâm talking to her best friend, Markâs taken, and Dylanâs not her type.â Ethan said.
âWhatâs wrong with me?â Dylan asked jokingly, yet seriously.Â
Mark shrugged, âShe said she was into tall guys. As in, guys over six feet.âÂ
Laughing at Markâs words, the group of boys made their way down to the field to wait for Jules and hopefully, you.
Jules made her way over the boys, sliding her hand into Ethanâs. âWhatâs Luke all red for?â
âY/N mentioned him in her interview just now.â Ethan told her casually.
Her eyes widened, âSeriously?â
Luke quickly shook his head, âWe donât know for sure it was about me.â
Before Jules could question it any more, you were walking over. You gave everyone a quick greeting which they happily returned. As you were all about to make your way towards the exit, you decided now was a better moment than ever.Â
âHey Luke? Can I talk to you for a second?â You asked, trying to ignore all the stupid grins on everyone else's faces.Â
He smiled and turned around, âYeah.â
The two of you stepped away from the group towards an area on the sidelines where people couldnât hear you.Â
âGreat game tonight.â He said, trying to dissolve some of the awkwardness that was beginning to build.Â
You smiled, âThanks. I appreciate you coming.â âYeah, anything for a good friend of mine.â He smirked, quoting your previous words.Â
You looked away and laughed, now knowing he heard that part of your interview. âFunny. Anyway, I had a really good time talking with you last week and I was hoping to maybe get your number?â Lukeâs face turned slightly red yet again as he smiled and nodded as you pulled out your phone so he could type in his information. âI was hoping youâd ask.âÂ
After he handed you your phone back, the two of you made your way back to your friends.
Jules pulled you back slightly, letting the boys walk ahead, âLooks like you scored in more ways than one, huh?â
âI definitely did.â

Idk if youâve ever watched the Netflix movie âthrough my windowâ but thereâs this one scene where the girl and the guy are laying in bed together and he slips his hand into her panties and starts to finger her while theyâre in bed with someone else. They arenât together and lowkey itâs like enemies with lots of sexual tension.
Anyway I was thinking that with Ethan Edwards? Maybe the reader is really good friends with the other umich boys and ends up going back to their house after a party and sheâs inbetween Ethan and one of the other boys even though her and Ethan kind of canât stand each other and he has his arm around her and starts to kinda of touch her everywhere which makes her involuntarily move against him and they end up having sex together
Pretty Girl
Ethan Edwards x Fem! Reader
Warnings- smut, fingering, finger sucking (teehee), sharing the bed, pet names (pretty girl, brat, baby), Ethan is mean but gentle, very soft, riding, creampie (sheâs on the pill), I think thatâs it???

Drunken laughter filled Marks apartment as him and his teammates cram into the small place. But me? I was the designated driver to get back to this said apartment. It was nearly two in the morning, making me fearful to drive back onto campus to my dorm, if I was caught Iâd be in big trouble for being out past curfew. Instead Marks little drunk giggles were in my ear while his girlfriend was asleep in his arms.
âI have a quest roomâ he says in a lame excuse for a hushed whisper. It was a wonder how Farah was still asleep on his chest. âBut likeâŚâ he hiccups, âEthan and Rut are sleeping in thereâ another hiccup from the drunk boy, âIâm sure you can find roomâ. I sigh softly, I canât complain when heâs giving me a place to stay. I nod reluctantly and stand up, making my way to the spare room. The source of the drunkenness was the hockey seniors going away party. It was just pretty much the team and their girlfriends⌠and you know, me: the media girl.
Rutger was passed out on the right side of the bed when I walk in, drool on the corner of his mouth as his soft snore echoed in the room. He didnât even care to attempt to wipe off the lipstick marks from his girlfriend Kayleigh as they were plastered all over his face. I was mildly surprised she wasnât here, they were normally inseparable but I guessed her friends had taken her back to their place.
Ethan was sat up against the headboards with an arm behind his head, scrolling through his phone. I hated his guts. He was always stuck up and made snarky comments. He let his fame get in the way of a friendship with me, always thinking he was better than everyone else. But in reality, me the media, gave him his fame. I didnât care to fix it though, I never let it bother me. Until now that is, his eyes meeting mine with a scoff. I narrow my eyes in disgust. âMark told me I can sleep in here, he also said for you two to make room for me.â Ethanâs eyes look down at the floor. âA lot of room left down there.â I roll my eyes and step towards the bed.
I ignore his request as I crawl on the bed and squeeze between him and Rutger. âGo fuck yourselfâ I mutter and turn my back to him, so squished my face was practically pressed into the back of the snoring boy. I wiggle myself under the covers and close my eyes, slowly drifting to sleep. In my deep slumber I could feel a body lay beside me and an arm wrap around my waist. Normally, Iâd be quick to push anyone off but in this state I couldnât tell between a dream and reality.
My eyes flutter open to soft breaths against my neck. Rutger was still in front of me. My face heats up at the realization of who had me wrapped in their arms. I knew he wasnât asleep because his soft thumb rubbing back and forth on my hip. I turn my head slightly. âWhatâre you doing, Ethan?â He groans softly with no response. âEthan, Iâm serio-â I was cut off by his hand moving closer to the center on my stomach, just above the waistband on my sweatpants. âDo you ever know when to shut up?â He laughs softly as he moves his hand all over my stomach, hips, then eventually lifting it under my tank top to cup my bare breasts.
âEthan.â I warn in a faint whisper, hoping I wouldnât wake up Rutger. âWhat? Do you want me to stop? Hate me all you want but you know this feels good.â He chuckles as I gasp when he pinches one of my nipples. I donât respond. âThatâs why at I thought.â He laughs and presses a kiss to my shoulder. âJust wanted to thank you for looking out for us at the party. Youâre still a brat, but thank youâ a sudden realization hits me. âEthan- youâre drunkâ I try to swat his hand away âI didnât touch a single drop of alcohol all night, pretty girl.â I let out a relieved sigh.
His large hand makes its way into my sweatpants and under my panties. I feel him smile against my shoulder when he slots a finger between my folds. I whimper softly and reach my hand down to hold his wrist, not to stop him but as support. âSo wet for me.â He presses another sloppy kiss to my shoulder. Without warning his finger dips into my wet hole making me accidentally moan out. His other hand moves to wrap around my neck and cover my mouth. âI wanna hear those pretty moans so bad but we canât wake him upâ. He begins to thrust his thick finger in and out of my hole, I moan against his hand but it was still loud enough to potentially wake up Rutger.
âFuck,â he removes his hand just to stuff two fingers into my mouth, âkeep these warm for me, pretty girl.â. He works another finger into me. I screw my eyes shut and force myself to suck his fingers to block a moan. He removes his fingers from both my pussy and mouth causing me to whine. âY/n, baby, my cock will feel so much better.â A quiet âohâ falls from my lips causing him to chuckle. He flips me over to face him and our eyes meet. Iâm suddenly reminded that this is the same guy that pisses me off every single day. âItâs probably tiny.â I say without thinking. I expected him to get mad but instead a smirk plays on his lips. âDonât be a fucking brat.â
He loops his fingers in my waistband and pulls them down enough for me to be able to kick them off. He doesnât touch my panties in case rutger wakes up, he doesnât want me to be completely exposed. In some strange way I find it cute that heâd protect me from another guys gaze. He pulls his own pants down just enough for his dick to spring free. He grabs one of my legs and places it over his hip, moving my panties to the side and pressing his dick to my entrance. I bite my lip at the realization that there was no way he was small. He laughs softly at my reaction and presses his forehead to mine. âItâs hard to admit youâre wrong huh, brat? Donât worry, thoughâŚâ he presses a soft and quick kiss to my lips then pulls away slightly, âIâll go slow for you.â
He slowly presses into me, stretching me out in ways I didnât know was possible. âEthanâŚâ I whisper. âI know, pretty girl, Iâm almost all the way in.â As he finishes the sentence he bottoms out. My mouth falls agape and my eyes squeeze shut. He knew I wouldnât be able to keep my moans in if he moved so for precaution, he forcefully pressed his lips into mine before moving. He snakes his hand around me and grabs my ass. He moves back, his tip was the only thing left in me before he slams back in. My moans are swallowed by his kiss. Rutger stirs causing Ethan to completely stop. âMâsorry, baby, but for this to work youâre gonna have to ride me.â
I whine softly and hoist myself on top of him. âThere you go baby, donât feel like being a brat anymore, huh?â. I let out a shaky breath before rounding my hips on him. My head drops to his shoulder as I rock back and forth sloppily. âThere you go, pretty girl, just like that. Fuck, making me feel like I can cum already. âEthan-â I gasp out as I tighten around him. âIâm on the pill-â my tummy tightens as my legs shake. Without warning my cream creates a ring around his cock. I stop moving out of exhaustion. Ethan chuckles softly and moves my hips for me, lifting me up and down on his cock. âGonna fill you up, baby⌠you want me to fill you up?â He teases and I tiredly nod against his shoulder. His hips snap up into me as he holds me down, his thick ropes of cum filling me up.
I lift up off of him and fall back onto the bed. I re adjust my panties and put my sweatpants back on in case his cum leaked out of my swollen pussy. After he fixes his pants he pulls me into him. âMâsorry for being an assholeâ he kisses my forehead, âI wonât stop but I am sorry.â I laugh quietly and nestle into his chest.
âYeah well now I know how I can shut you up.â

HIDDEN FEELINGS - M. ESTAPA

The rink is where I feel most alive. The smooth glide of my skates over the ice, the echo of the puck against the boards, the camaraderie of my teammatesâhockey is more than a game to me, itâs a way of life. Playing for the University of Michigan has always been a dream, and now, here I am, living it.
I'm the twin sister of Ethan Edwards. Yes, that Ethan Edwards who's a standout player on the University of Michigan hockey team, right alongside Mark Estapa. Growing up, Ethan and I were inseparable. Hockey was our mutual love, and even though we both made it to the university level, we ended up on different teams. Ethan plays as a defenseman, known for his strength and reliability, while I'm a forward, valued for my speed and strategy.
Mark Estapa, on the other hand, is a force to be reckoned with on the ice. As a forward like me, he's got an uncanny ability to read the game, find the gaps in the defense, and score those crucial goals. Heâs a great player, and over the seasons, Iâve come to respect and admire his skills.
Our growing friendship, however, didnât happen overnight. Our two teams would occasionally practice together, and it was during these joint sessions that I began to notice Mark's friendly and approachable nature. We'd find ourselves paired up during drills or chatting during water breaks.
*¨¨* âââ *¨¨*:¡..¡:*¨¨* âââ *¨¨*:¡..¡:*¨¨* âââ *¨¨*:¡..¡:*¨¨* âââ *¨¨*:¡..¡:*¨¨*
One afternoon, after a particularly intense drill, Mark and I found ourselves catching our breaths on the bench.
âYou handled that drill pretty well, Y/N,â Mark said, flashing me a genuine smile.
âThanks, Mark. You werenât too bad yourself,â I replied, matching his smile.
From there, our conversations became longer and more meaningful. One day, as we were stretching before practice, Mark turned to me with a curious expression.
âSo, Y/N, what made you choose Michigan?â he asked, genuinely interested.
âI guess it was a combination of things,â I answered, thinking back to my decision. âThe coaching staff here is amazing, and the program has a great reputation. Plus, Ethan being here didnât hurt,â I added with a playful grin.
Mark chuckled. âI can see how having family around could be a bonus. I chose Michigan for similar reasons. The team has a great dynamic, and the opportunities for growth both as a player and a student are unparalleled.â
Our conversations didnât just revolve around hockey; we talked about our classes, our hobbies, and our future goals. It was during one of these post-practice chats that Mark opened up about his passion for photography.
âIâve always loved taking pictures,â he said, showing me some of his recent shots on his phone. âItâs a way for me to capture moments and emotions that words canât express.â
I was impressed by his talent and passion. âThese are amazing, Mark. You have a real eye for it.â
âThanks, Y/N. Itâs something I hope to pursue more seriously someday,â he said, looking slightly vulnerable.
As the weeks went by, our conversations continued to deepen. We shared stories about our families, our dreams, and even our fears. I found myself looking forward to our practice sessions not just for the hockey but also for the chance to spend time with Mark.
We'd find ourselves paired up during drills or chatting during water breaks. Our teammates began to notice our growing camaraderie, and it wasnât uncommon for them to tease us about our lengthy conversations.
âYou two should just start your own podcast,â Ethan joked one day as he walked past us, a smirk on his face.
Despite the teasing, Mark and I cherished our newfound friendship. Our long conversations became the highlight of my day, and I found myself feeling more and more connected to him with each passing practice.
But lately, it's not just his skills on the ice that have caught my attention.Â

Growing up as a twin, you learn the importance of boundaries and loyalty early on. Ethan and I shared everythingâour toys, our secrets, our dreams. So, when I first joined the University of Michigan's hockey team and met Mark Estapa, I couldnât help but notice his attractiveness. His tall stature, his athletic build, and that charming smile were hard to ignore. But I also knew he was Ethanâs teammate, and I would never do anything to jeopardize their friendship or our family bond.
During those early practices, I would steal glances at Mark, admiring his skill and athleticism on the ice. His dedication and passion for the game were evident, and it only added to his appeal. But each time I felt a flutter in my stomach or caught myself daydreaming about him, I would quickly push those feelings aside, reminding myself of the unspoken rule: teammates were off-limits.
As our teams began to practice together more frequently, Mark and I started to interact more. Our conversations were light-hearted and filled with laughter, but underneath it all, there was an undeniable chemistry brewing. I found myself drawn to him not just because of his looks but also because of his personality. He was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely interested in getting to know me.
Despite these growing feelings, I was determined to keep my emotions in check. I didnât want to create any awkwardness or tension within the team, especially given Ethanâs close friendship with Mark.

MARKS POVÂ
The first time Y/n Edwards and I really talked was during one of those joint practices. I remember it wellâ we were both catching our breath on the bench after a tough drill. I looked over at Y/N, and for the first time, I saw her not just as Ethan's twin sister but as Y/N Edwards, an incredible player in her own right.
âYou handled that drill pretty well, Y/N,â I said, trying to initiate a conversation.
âThanks, Mark. You werenât too bad yourself,â she replied, matching my smile.
In that moment, something shifted. Her smile, her wit, the way she talked about hockeyâit all captivated me. She was more than just a talented player; she was someone I wanted to get to know on a deeper level.
As we continued to chat, our conversation flowed effortlessly. We talked about everything from our reasons for choosing Michigan to our hobbies and interests outside of hockey. I was genuinely intrigued by her, and I found myself wanting to learn more about the person behind the player.
But as much as I was drawn to Y/N, I knew I had to tread carefully. She was Ethan's sister, and I didn't want to overstep any boundaries or make things awkward within the team. So, I tried to keep our interactions friendly and professional, all while secretly hoping for more.
The more I got to know Y/N, the harder it became to ignore my growing feelings for her. Her intelligence, her passion for the game, and her kind-hearted nature made her irresistibly attractive to me. But I also knew that acting on my feelings could complicate things, and I didn't want to risk our friendship or create any tension within the team.
Despite these internal struggles, I couldnât deny the connection I felt with Y/N. Each conversation, each laugh, each shared moment only deepened my admiration and affection for her. I found myself looking forward to our joint practices not just for the hockey but also for the chance to spend time with her.
But lately, it's not just her skills on the ice that have caught my attention.
During one of our joint practices, we were waiting for our turn to jump onto the ice for the next drill. Y/N was leaning against the boards, lacing up her skates, completely engrossed in her task. The afternoon light streamed through the windows, casting a soft glow on her face and highlighting the golden undertones in her hair.
I couldnât help but stare.
She looked up, catching my gaze, and flashed me a quick smile before returning her attention to her skates. My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly looked away, hoping she hadnât noticed my lingering gaze.
As we took to the ice for the next drill, I found myself distracted, my thoughts consumed by the simple beauty of that moment. Y/N's natural grace and poise, even in something as mundane as lacing up her skates, left me in awe.
I knew I was treading dangerous waters, but in that moment, I couldnât help but be captivated by her beauty. She was more than just a talented hockey player; she was a vision of grace and elegance that I found myself drawn to, unable to look away.

Y/N POV
I found myself watching Mark as he talked with some of our teammates. He was animated, gesturing with his hands and laughing at something someone had said. I was captivated by his energy and charisma, and for a moment, I lost myself in the way the sunlight caught the highlights in his hair and how his eyes sparkled with genuine happiness.
Lost in my thoughts, I didnât notice Ethan approaching until he spoke, "You okay, Y/N? You seem a little distracted."
Startled, I quickly looked away from Mark, feeling my cheeks flush with embarrassment. "Oh, uh, yeah, I'm fine," I stammered, trying to regain my composure.
Ethan gave me a knowing smile but didnât press further. "Alright, just making sure," he said, patting me gently on the shoulder before heading back to the group.
Relieved that Ethan hadnât called me out on my obvious distraction, I took a deep breath and refocused on the practice. But even as I skated back onto the ice, I couldnât shake the feeling that Mark was becoming more than just a teammate to me.
One evening, I found myself at Ethan's apartment, sprawled out on the couch with a bowl of popcorn, ready to watch a movie. Ethan had invited some of his teammates over, including Mark, to hang out and relax after a grueling week of practice and games.
As I settled into the comfortable cushions, Mark walked into the living room, a casual smile on his face. He greeted everyone warmly before taking a seat on the armchair opposite the couch. Our eyes met briefly, and a subtle spark passed between us, but we both quickly looked away, maintaining a friendly distance in front of Ethan and the others.
As the movie started to play, Ethan and Mark began discussing a recent game, dissecting plays and strategies with the kind of intensity only true hockey enthusiasts possess. I found myself drawn into the conversation, sharing my own insights and opinions, and soon, Mark and I were engaged in our own little world of hockey talk, much to Ethan's amusement.
Throughout the evening, I couldn't help but steal glances at Mark, admiring his easygoing demeanor and genuine interest in our conversation. His laughter was infectious, and I found myself laughing along with him, feeling a connection that went beyond our shared love for hockey.
Despite the casual setting and the presence of Ethan and the others, I couldnât ignore the growing tension between Mark and me. It was as if we were dancing around the undeniable chemistry that had been building between us, both of us aware of the line we were toeing but unwilling to cross it in front of Ethan and our teammates.
As the evening wore on and the movie came to an end, I realized that my feelings for Mark were becoming harder to ignore. He wasnât just a teammate or Ethanâs friend; he was someone I genuinely cared about, and I found myself looking forward to the next opportunity to spend time with him, both on and off the ice.

ETHANS POV
As the evening unfolded in my apartment, I couldn't help but notice the subtle undercurrents between Mark and Y/N. From my vantage point on the couch, I could see the way they exchanged glances when they thought no one was looking, the way their laughter seemed to echo in sync, and the way they both seemed completely engrossed in their own world, despite the presence of our teammates.
At first, I brushed it off as mere camaraderieâafter all, they were both passionate about hockey and had been spending a lot of time together at practices. But as the evening wore on, I began to sense something moreâa genuine connection that went beyond friendship.
I glanced over at Y/N, who was laughing at something Mark had said, her eyes sparkling with amusement. Then I looked at Mark, who was smiling back at her, his eyes softening in a way I had never seen before. It was clear that there was something special between them, something that went beyond the confines of the rink and our hockey team.
As Y/N and Mark continued to talk and laugh together, I couldnât help but feel a mix of surprise and curiosity. Mark was my teammate and one of my closest friends, and Y/N was my twin sister. The thought of them being more than just friends was unexpected, but the more I observed their interactions, the more it made sense.
Despite my initial reservations, I couldnât deny the connection between them. They seemed to complement each other in a way that was both surprising and endearing. And as much as it caught me off guard, I found myself rooting for them, hoping that they would find happiness together, both on and off the ice.
As the evening came to an end and everyone started to say their goodbyes, I pulled Mark aside for a moment.
"Hey, man, are you and Y/N...you know, getting close?" I asked cautiously, not wanting to overstep any boundaries.
Mark looked slightly taken aback but then smiled, his eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief. "Yeah, I think we are," he said, his voice filled with genuine warmth.
I smiled back, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Well, as long as you're both happy, that's all that matters," I replied,
"Are you serious? I was so scared to tell you that I think I'm falling for her." Mark said.
I looked at Mark, surprised by his honesty and vulnerability. His eyes were sincere, and I could see the genuine concern in them.
"Mark, I had no idea you felt that way," I said, feeling a pang of guilt for not noticing his hesitation earlier. "I'm sorry for putting you on the spot like that."
Mark chuckled softly, his smile returning but with a slightly nervous edge. "It's okay, Ethan. I guess I've just been overthinking things. I really care about Y/N, and I didn't want to mess things up, especially since we're teammates and she's your sister."
I clapped Mark on the shoulder, offering him a reassuring smile. "Look, as surprising as it is, I'm actually really happy for you two. Y/N deserves someone who genuinely cares about her, and I can see that you do. Just promise me you'll treat her right, okay?"
Mark nodded earnestly, his eyes shining with gratitude. "I promise, Ethan. She means a lot to me, and I want to do right by her."
Feeling reassured, I smiled at Mark, grateful for his honesty and commitment to Y/N. "Alright then, I trust you. Just remember, if you ever hurt her, you'll have to answer to me," I added with a playful smirk.
Mark laughed, his tension finally breaking. "Understood, Captain."
As we rejoined the others to say our final goodbyes, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and excitement. Despite the unexpected turn of events, I was genuinely happy for Y/N and Mark. They had found something special in each other, and as their friend and brother, I couldn't wait to see where their relationship would lead.

Y/N POV
As we approached my apartment building, the atmosphere between Mark and me had shifted subtly. There was a sense of anticipation, a tangible connection that seemed to be growing stronger with each step we took. When we reached the entrance, Mark stopped and turned to face me, his blue eyes reflecting a mix of excitement and vulnerability.
"Y/N, there's something I need to tell you," he began, his voice slightly shaky but sincere. "Earlier, when Ethan asked me if we were getting close, I told him that I think I'm falling for you."
I felt my heart leap in my chest, a rush of emotions surging through me. His confession was unexpected but also exhilarating, confirming the feelings I had been trying to suppress.
"Mark," I started, searching for the right words to express the whirlwind of emotions I was feeling. "I'm not sure how to say this, but... I think I'm falling for you too."
The moment the words left my lips, a wide smile spread across Mark's face, his eyes lighting up with joy and relief.
"Really?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine happiness.
I nodded, feeling a warm blush spread across my cheeks. "Yes, really. I've been trying to ignore my feelings, but the truth is, I've been falling for you too, Mark."
A look of pure happiness washed over Mark's face, and without hesitation, he stepped closer, cupping my face gently with his hands. "Y/N, I'm so glad to hear that," he whispered, his eyes locked onto mine.
Feeling emboldened by our mutual confession, I leaned in, closing the distance between us, and our lips met in a soft, sweet kiss. It was a simple yet powerful affirmation of the connection we had both been feeling but had been too afraid to acknowledge until now.
As we pulled apart, our faces flushed and smiles wide, Mark looked into my eyes, his gaze filled with warmth and affection.
"Do you wanna come in?" I asked, my voice soft and inviting, the words coming out almost on their own accord, as if guided by the newfound courage and excitement that bubbled within me.
Mark's eyes sparkled with anticipation, but he hesitated for a moment, wanting to be respectful of the situation and our budding relationship.
"Are you sure?" he asked gently, his voice tinged with a mix of excitement and caution.
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest. "Yes, I'm sure," I replied, feeling a surge of boldness.
A broad smile spread across Mark's face, his eyes shining with happiness and relief. "I'd love to," he said, his voice filled with genuine warmth and excitement.
Taking my hand in his, Mark followed me into the building, our fingers intertwined as we headed up to my apartment.
