Like,, he uses pick up lines on you all the time but not the absolutely horrid kind, they're actually really smart
This man is such a flirt with you too, even after years of dating
He's pretty possessive but if showing it makes you uncomfy he'll stop
This makes him a huge fan of pda, would definitely be the type to full on make out with you in public if you're okay with it
Also is definitely the type to drape an arm around the back of your chair/ seat on the couch whenever he can
Always has an arm around your waist. Always.
And in the rare event that he doesn't he's still touching you in some way
Secretly loves cuddles (touch starved, you know the drill) but never around others and if you tell any of the lov members you're d e a d
You take his jacket all the time and he's really annoyed with it but secretly likes that your'e obviously wearing something that belongs to him
Whenever he needs it it's always "I need my jacket" "You mean m y jacket??"
Twice and Toga call you mom and dad (regardless of your gender)
He's mom
Which started out as a joke when Dabi went feral after falling victim to a prank and giving a long lecture on respecting your elders (even tho twice is older than him)
I feel like he's lowkey a natural good cook and just won't tell anyone because he doesn't want to cook for them
Will cook for you though, but makes sure to make only enough for you two so there's no leftovers for anyone else
Is very observant, he has to be since he refuses to ask you what you want because he doesn't wanna be labeled a simp
But fr he always knows when something's wrong you cannot hide s h i t from him
You can't really go outside on like,, dates with one of Japan's most recognizable villains
But annoying Shigaraki together is just as fun and just as much of a bonding experience
Especially when it gets d a n g e r o u s
Overall dating him is a very fun and exciting experience!

I put together a transcript of the 2 hour Q&A Interview the Carmen Sandiego Discord did with Showrunner Duane Capizzi. All of the questions were submitted by server members. You can read everything below the break!
Duane Capizzi:
Hi there!
Am I in? Is this thing on?
PizzaHorse:
Hi, welcome!
Yep, you're in the right place!
Duane Capizzi:
Sorry I'm late, I was wandering around some empty Discord hallways looking for the right room haha
PizzaHorse:
No worries. Let's get started!
Who is your favorite character?
Duane Capizzi:
Moose Boy!
KIDDING!
Alright, how to NOT get myself in trouble if my answer isn't "Carmen" haha.
But really, they are ALL my babies.
So I know it's going to sound like a cop out to some that I can't pick just one. But hmm, some for instances...
I love that she's so morally evolved at such a young age; her ability to always take the high road and never lower herself; her drive and conviction and dedication. Her ability to kick serious booty and look good while doing it. Her progressive values, her fashion sense. I could go on and on. But then there's Shadowsan and his arc; Chase and his. Julia, who's every bit as strong as Carmen but shows it in different ways. The Cleaners don't get enough love.
I'll close that question with an anecdote about The Cleaners ...
I love that all our characters are embraced and that everyone seems to have favorites. Our sound engineer Marcel is a pretty serious guy: he has a serious job that takes high levels of focus and attention. He's always deeply focused and not prone to small talk. Anyway, we were in the middle of our first or second sound mix, and he suddenly stops in the middle and turns around to face us. I'm thinking, "uh oh, we're giving too many notes." That's when I notice he's freeze framed the Cleaners. He says "I really like these guys." Then he turns around, hits play and gets back to work.
PizzaHorse:
What was the biggest challenge for coming up with new stories and plot for the reboot?
Duane Capizzi:
THE biggest? Sigh. I'm not sure I could come up with just one. Plotting is always challenging and we had the brain trust of the room, our trusty white board, and writer assistant to keep the threads of the ongoing storyline together. I think the single biggest ONGOING challenge was tracking which character knew what at any given time.
The caper part was challenging - coming up with new capers and keeping them interesting and fresh. But, it was the characters and their interactions that kept things fresh and interesting. Another museum heist? That's okay - Chase is on the case and he gets to interact with "X" this time (for instance).
There were also some episodes - Duke of Vermeer and Crackle Goes Kiwi come to mind - where there was SO MUCH SET UP needed to get the payoffs to work. I was really worried about too much talk/too much detail. Very "Swiss watch!" It took a lot of work to make sure it all clicked and was clear - hopefully it seems effortless on screen but I can't say there wasn't some sweat and the occasional tear (mostly from me - I'm a big cry baby
But really, what made it fun was that we had so many buckets to draw from: sometimes a story germ initially began with a character idea; sometimes it was inspired by global location; sometimes it was a clever way to update or reimagine an idea from old Carmen lore. Usually, it was some combination of all of the above!
PizzaHorse:
What was your favorite scene to write?
Duane Capizzi:
I think we have a theme here! "How can I pick just one ...?"
As a film buff, I got to indulge in some serious fan nerdery on this show: I got to write spy movies, yakuza movies, spaghetti neo-westerns (though turning it on its head: spaghetti westerns usually involve REVENGE and because of Carmen's character make up, this was sort of anti-revenge).
Is writing coming up with the idea or typing it? Haha. An "if a tree falls in the forest" question. The writing team and I had so many cathartic "that's how it goes" in the room. But on my own, writing the Pilot, was a very inspiring time for me: I remember laughing out loud the moment I thought of Chase falling on his own car (in part because of doing my spin on "that trope" that we've seen in so many hard boiled movies recently). But also how emotional I got when I imagined the simple but potent image of Black Sheep deciding to take her destiny into her own hands and walk that long corridor to the Faculty who we were about to meet for the first time.
I think I've cited this in another interview, but there was a period where I was completely immersed in Chase's arc and the scene where he would crack the location of VILE island ... by listening to Julia in a dream ... was a big one for me. It revealed he was finally open to admitting he needed Julia more than he would ever admit - yet, it was his own subconscious speaking.
The next morning, after cracking that scene, I bumped into Raf Petardi (voice of Chase) ... at the supermarket! It was very strange and hilarious
PizzaHorse:
Did you scrap any lengthy or funny scenes that you would be able to share?
Duane Capizzi:
With few exceptions, most scene cuts are done at the script stage so that the story board team doesn't waste effort over boarding. A variety of trims to any script are common, but they are usually for the better
The easier question to answer might be scenes were part of our "wish list" at writer room stage, but never made it to story or script. I hesitate to go too deep here (in the event that we might ever do more Carmen episodes in this canon - I'm not giving up hope). And there were cases where things we wanted to do earlier in the series wound up getting nixed or not fitting for whatever reason, but we got them in later - USUALLY FOR THE BETTER. So there's sort of a reverse Murphy's Law/rule of good fortune somehow in these things. But some fun things that didn't make it into the show, that leap to mind were: a Bollywood dance sequence (!). A Vegas caper involving Brunt wanting to steal an Elvis jumpsuit against the backdrop of an Elvis impersonator convention. We also thought it would be neat to get Maelstrom imprisoned so that Julia could interrogate him and he would play mind games with her - very Lector/Clarice!
PizzaHorse:
Were there any different treatments of Carmen you pitched before settling on the one we ended up with?
Duane Capizzi:
I was one of several "pitches" that I'm sure HMH heard before running with my version. But I can honestly say I've never pitched anything as fully formed: the take on Carmen felt so right to me, and clearly HMH and by extension Netflix agreed
I'll answer your question with an anecdote: I had the entire Pilot pretty well worked out, and pitched it in the first meeting. But one key thing that changed (much for the better!), simply because it wouldn't have fit without slogging things down ...
In my Pilot pitch, Black Sheep's escape on the boat was off screen: we see Shadowsan corner her, then we cut away. The rest of the Faculty show up to find SS's broken sword on the rocks, and are led to believe BS killed him (!). In the present, Crackle points his weapon at Carmen and prepares to pull the trigger. We know that Chase is on the way and may rescue her. The compartment door opens to reveal - not Chase - but Shadowsan! Big surprise! Then we cut back to BS's escape and find out what really transpired etc etc.
Crazy, right? SS would have been hanging out with the gang in season 1; we might not have gotten to 203 with his back story, since his sword was broken and he couldn't return it. Just one of those magical things where "things work out" the way they are supposed to. THAT SAID, it made for a heckuva pitch
PizzaHorse:
Are there any characters that ended up taking a direction you didn't initially anticipate?
Duane Capizzi:
GRAY.
I didn't know we'd make him amnesiac when I wrote the Pilot, that was something we came up with in our first week Writer Room.
And even then, when it became clear he'd be a key piece of the bigger puzzle, we didn't know how exactly (mostly the Season 4 stuff).
We did get very deep with a version where 404 ended with his protective streak for Carmen kicking into high gear, and they would be fighting off Vile Guards back to back in perfect tandem. Then, having chosen Carmen over VILE, it was Carmen who actually orchestrates Gray going "off grid" so that VILE can never find him again. Funny, I know that is arguably the version of Gray's arc that many fans might have preferred seeing. But in the tradition of spy thrillers and film noir, and for a lone wolf character like Carmen who is focused on her life mission and not romance, we stand behind where we went with him. We felt it was so much more compelling ... and truly more emotional that he totally has a get out of jail free card when he sacrifices everything (including his life, potentially) to save Carmen.
when she needs him most!
I know I made some controversial comments about Gray "not being good enough for Carmen" and I'd like to clarify that I meant, until that final episode. What he did was so selfless and heroic. Is there hope for them in the future? Who knows?! But I do hope we get to explore that one day
I'm sure Gray is living off the grid somewhere now, inspired by Carmen's selfless good and thinking of her from time to time.
PizzaHorse:
You mentioned in the interview with Alicyn that Carmen is a love story, but you were cut off before you could finish discussing. Could you elaborate on your answer now?
Duane Capizzi:
Ugh, yes! Sorry about that. I actually answered that privately for someone so will cut and paste that response here. Let's see if it works.
Something we never said in the show, but something I imparted to the creative team was: Carmen Sandiego is (among other things) a LOVE STORY, where every character in our ensemble is in love with Carmen in one way or another. Even if they don't know it! That love can take different forms: we see how spurned by Carmen Coach Brunt feels and why she retaliates so excessively. Chase eventually comes to realize that he too loves Carmen, even if he wasn't initially aware of it haha. One of the most moving things to me about the series is how all of the different factions come to Carmen's rescue at the end when she's not "in her right mind," without knowing the others are there too. It's a massive group effort to bring back the Carmen they love. But we weren't looking for a fairy tale ending for Carmen with ANYone - Carmen's a classic lone wolf anti-hero, that goes with the territory. At least at this stage in her journey.
PizzaHorse:
Were there other locations that you wanted to feature in the show that didn't make it?
Duane Capizzi:
I think we managed to cover a lot of ground and "cadence" between different countries/cultures/continents was important to us. Many "iconic" locations of course, and it would have been nice to explore some lesser known locations if we had more episodes.
One that we almost did was Niagara Falls, Canada - actually literally going to the Falls and doing a big hydro-electric caper, where Player could actually get into the field with Carmen and the team.
But ultimately, we wound up bringing Player into the fold the way we did and wound up stronger as a result. It made his "first face to face" with Carmen even more impactful, IMO.
PizzaHorse:
Were there any changes in production between the first half and the second half of the series?
Duane Capizzi:
Well, there was that Covid thing
But while it was no doubt a colossal undertaking to get the entire staff transitioned to work from home (animators! and their equipment!), we managed to make up for lost time WITHOUT a dip in animation quality. My fedora's off to our amazing team at Wildbrain for pulling it off!
We did lose some staff between orders, but that is a natural part of production unfortunately. Namely, one of our episodic directors Kenny Park, our first storyboard artist Dennis Crawford, and our story editor May Chan were among those who moved on to other shows during the break. But, as hard as their shoes were to fill, fill them we did!
PizzaHorse:
What is your favorite season?
Duane Capizzi:
Easy. Hands down, Season 3.
(crickets)
KIDDING!
Again, another "they're all my babies" answer (and yes, I love Season 3 equally
It's hard, because really when you step back I'm sure you'll agree it's a series, with stand alone capers; but it's really all ONE BIG MOVIE.
Season 3 is like the scherzo of a symphony: the shortest movement of four, and the one that tees up the big finale.
That's my hoity toity answer but I'm going to put to rest all of the various theories on what happened with season 3. It was a combination of two things: Netflix's desire to experiment with different ways of "dropping" seasons, and their desire to do a holiday themed drop (in this case Halloween, naturally). It became our challenge to come up with a theme (easy enough: masks), and the bigger challenge to serve their need while not interrupting our ongoing narrative. A challenge to be sure, but a challenge met. I think the biggest bump was perception: it was a short season and I know that was disappointing to many. But, by design.
So, Season 3 = an essential part of the whole. I don't think there's a wasted episode, and it gets everyone into position for the big finish. I can't pick a favorite season - you can't make me
PizzaHorse:
Were there any characters you had wanted to give more time to but couldn't due to time/plot restraints?
Duane Capizzi:
Well, there's the "what was on the white board" answer but hopefully some of those ideas will see the light of day in some way, shape or form some day. I think if we had more episodes, we would have shaken up the internal dynamic of VILE a bit more (as hinted at Brunt's displeasure with Maelstrom for leaving her hanging out to dry at end of 405 - a seed we planted "just in case," as some have noted). And we had more scenes in mind with Chase's partnering with Carmen for the first time that we had to cut to the bone because of what little room we had in that otherwise packed episode (worry not: it's mostly more gags, more embellishment, more twists and turns - but the important stuff is there). Mostly, and I don't think it would have been right for Season 4 but I hope to tell in the future, I think there's an interesting history between Shadowsan and Lady Dokuso - possibly tragic - that I would love to explore one day. (She was a cameo in Duke of Vermeer at the dinner party BTW, I'm not sure if anyone noticed. And we built a bigger role for her out of that)
PizzaHorse:
What are some pre-2000/nostalgic Carmen references you snuck into the show? Do you have a favorite reference that was included?
Duane Capizzi:
Doing that was so much fun! I'd say roughly 60% of the characters were from previous iterations of Carmen, though often in name only. We had fun reimagining most everyone to make them more relevant or updated or giving them a more colorful personality for starters.
"Suhara" was Carmen's Japanese mentor when she worked at the ACME Agency in a flashback episode in the 90's series, for instance. I don't think I need to spell out how we turned that one inside out
And Tigress was also one episode only: she was a "rival thief" to Carmen, but revealed to be an ACME agent in disguise - a persona created solely to bait Carmen. It was really cool of course, but it seemed like untapped potential so we made her an ACTUAL Vile Thief.
My own internal rule was to make sure the references/easter eggs wouldn't confuse anyone - they were there for those who were in the loop and window dressing. The one and only time i broke that rule was Dark Carmen's line from 407: "I do it for the mental gymnastics." It was one of the most absurd lines from the 90's series (IMO) and i was determined to have it come out of Dark Carmen's mouth. I'm sure it left some 7 year olds scratching their heads
aside from that, the key references were the music: I still tingle at how we worked the Rockapella theme into the Interactive Special; and the 90's main title theme (composed by Mozart!), in our Vienna episode ("They're playing my song"). If you wanted Rockapella or Carmen as a bad guy, well ... be careful what you wish for!
PizzaHorse:
Was there any improvised content from recording sessions that made it into any episodes?
Duane Capizzi:
Yes! Not much, because a lot of it would have pushed us into TV-MA haha
Mostly Mary Elizabeth - Coach Brunt has a POTTY MOUTH!
Mikey and Abby usually riffed their banter WAY beyond what was on the written page and had us in stitches. Some bits definitely made it in! But mostly there was too much or it would get off point (hmmm, much like my interview answers maybe? haha)
Sharon Muthu did rise to Pun Goddess status with "Mask and you shall receive." And Raf pitched me "Chasse means hunt in French" after one session and I said: "I'm going to write that in." I don't think he believed me. You can't say I'm not a straight shooter.
PizzaHorse:
If you could get more season, would you do it, and what type of story would you tell?
Duane Capizzi:
Well if that hasn't been clear so far, ABSOLUTELY
There have been discussions of course. It's up to the powers that be at this point. I will say this: the beauty and tradition so far has been that every iteration has been its own thing. I definitely think there are more "different canon" versions of Carmen that can be had and be a part of this wonderful tradition. After all, there were many naysayers for our version when it was first announced.
I will also say that if we don't get to tell any more stories in this canon with these characters, we've left a perfect gem that will stand the test of time. I would rather go out on a high note than overstay our welcome.
All that said, we worked within the allotted episodes given, ended it as we wished, but left the door open for other stories. I'd love to do an expansion and a deepening: pick up where we left off; find out what happened in those two years; and proceed to do the equivalent of Godfather II or Better Call Saul as related to the amazing originals they followed.
Let's hope! Keep putting good vibes out there!
PizzaHorse:
If you could pick a character on Carmen Sandiego who'd you switch places with for a day (you get to control their life and they get to control yours) who would you pick, and why?
Duane Capizzi:
Okay, THIS is difficult. So you're going Freaky Friday on me?
on a Sunday?
Hmmm, I know Ivy would get along with my cat ... but then I'd have to hang out with Zack!
That's the trick: I can't pick my favorites cuz I couldn't hang out with them!
(not that I have favorites - they're all my babies haha)
Okay, I have one: ROUNDABOUT. I could fill Shadowsan's seat - how cool is that? Then, I could enact all my evil fantasies - but still have a get out of jail free card cuz he'd be sitting at my desk!
(cut to Duane being brain wiped - D'oh!)
PizzaHorse:
Who are two characters who don't really interact in the show that you think could be good friends or work really well together?
Duane Capizzi:
Hmmmm. Okay, now I'm going to give you quick and sassy answers. Gray and Julia! They'd be so cute banding together to rescue captive Carmen (for instance). And they could also duke it out and maybe settle things between themselves re: shipping controversies instead of dragging me into it
PizzaHorse:
The FINAL QUESTION. Have you learned anything super impactful while working on the show?
Duane Capizzi:
Aside from Iceland's terrifically low crime rate?
I think I have learned to never underestimate how meaningful characters can be to fans. Social media has obviously brought us a lot closer to our fan base in more immediate ways: it's been really gratifying to hear/see/read feedback and not be writing things in a vacuum. It's been gratifying to see that ideas that were meaningful to myself and the creative team on Carmen that were crafted with care, have also resonated with our fan base. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who has traveled on this journey with us - for embracing Carmen's world view, and her friends and foes alike. Take care everyone! Stay safe! This has been fun, thanks for having me!
PizzaHorse:
HUGE thank you to Duane Capizzi: for being here today.
Thank you everyone for watching and reacting!
Duane Capizzi:
Okay, gotta run - just gotta find the door
Anyway, really: THIS HAS BEEN AMAZING. I speak for everyone involved in the creation and production of Carmen: it has been an amazing and inspiring series and we're elated to see it connect with such a CREATIVE, TALENTED and INTELLIGENT fan base. Take care everyone! Until next crime...

INTERVIEW: SAINT MISBEHAVIN’ WAVY GRAVY
by Richard Whittaker, Dec 21, 2010
One day I got a note from ServiceSpace founder, Nipun Mehta offering me tickets to a new documentary movie about Wavy Gravy. Would you like to go?
I went. Although I was aware of Wavy Gravy as a cultural icon, I really knew very little about him. The film is a eye-opener. Michelle Esrick’s loving documentary, Saint Misbehavin’ - 10 years in the making - is a real introduction to this remarkable man. I'd never heard about Hugh Romney, the man who later became famous as Wavy Gravy. And what a story. I'll mention just one of its surprises: earlier in his life, Hugh Romney was Lenny Bruce's manager.
A few weeks after seeing the film, at Mehta’s urging, I had the chance to interview Wavy Gravy himself.
Richard Whittaker:  How are you feeling about Saint Misbehavin’?
Wavy Gravy:  Oh, it’s a swell movie. I’m honored to be so well-documented, and the review in the New York Times was embarrassing. I’m not that good.
RW:  You said in the film that you’re an “intuitive clown.” Would you mind saying something about what that means?
WG:  I’m trained in the art of acting improvisation. That means acting on the spur of the moment rather than doing, say, the focused slow burn and all the traditional clown moves. I don’t do any of that.
RW:  So that would be about sensing the moment, what’s there, and taking in who you’re with.
WG:  Absolutely—and sensing what’s going on. I was, for a number of years, with The Committee in San Francisco. I taught improvisation at Columbia Pictures. Harrison Ford was one of my students and I’ve taught improvisation at Camp Winnarainbow for over thirty years.
RW:  I wanted to ask you about your history. For instance, in New York in Greenwich Village, you wrote poetry, right?
WG:  Yes I did.
RW:  Is any of it available? And is it something you’d want people to find?
WG:  There are a couple of slender volumes out there. I think you’d have to go to Amazon or eBay to find them. I don’t even have copies myself. But other people do and will lend them to me when I need them.
RW:  Do any titles stand out for you?
WG:  Kaleidoscope and there’s Joe’s Song, which is taught in a poetry class at the University of California at Berkeley. Would you like to hear it?
RW:  Please.
WG:  Okay. It goes like this:  “Once upon and ever since I was a child in a child’s world. I have wept a child’s tears and built a child’s wall of clay and stone and colored years of poems in paint and virgin gold. I sought to build a wall so tall from lion eggs from Gallilee, a brick of song among the dregs of silver nails and lesser men a mile long to kiss the sun and climb again. Once ago and ever now I stood a man on a child’s wall. I stopped and prayed to spider webs and roses of the sea. I spoke as one with all the earth and knew the pain of birth and death to be the same without my wall. Once upon and ever furled I stand alone with all the world.”
RW:  That’s beautiful.
WG:  I wrote it in 1960 or about then. I don’t write lyric poems very often. These days I mainly write haiku, usually when friends pass away, which is happening more and more frequently from natural causes. Also I’ve been having the good fortune to have my art exhibited, and I do a haiku to go with each piece.
RW:  I’m imagining that, as a younger man, you had certain visions and deep feelings that could have been a liability for living the conventional life.
WG:  I don’t think I ever had to contend with that one [laughs]. I live in the land of one thing after another. [speaking with an east Indian accent] “The sand only goes through the hourglass one grain at a time,” as some Hindu sage proclaimed. I’ve discovered that to be true.
RW:  Did you have mentors who supported you in Greenwich Village?
WG:  It was kind of amusing. I was going to theater school at Boston University, which was an amazing theater school. The finest directors in the world would come in and the whole college would read for a part. A freshman could get a lead. It was extraordinary. And if you weren’t cast in the production, you would be cast in the lighting crew or the costume crew or the stage crew. Then there was an upset about theater students not doing their social studies and the university attempted to move the campus of the theater school over to where the rest of the university was laid out. Just at that time, the teachers who had all been hired during the McCarthy blackball because they couldn’t work on Broadway, well, the blackball ended and they all quit. They went to work at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City, and they took me with them.
But while I was at BU, I had read in Time Magazine about jazz and poetry in San Francisco. I thought, hey, I’ve written a couple of poems and I know some musicians. I can do that! So I got together with a bunch of artists from the museum school and we proceeded to take the basement of a bar called The Rock on Huntington Avenue. The place in the basement was called The Pebble in the Rock. We put in black tables and black clothes and mobiles and paintings and began doing jazz and poetry. It was the first jazz and poetry done on the East Coast. So I had the privilege of inaugurating the East Coast to jazz and poetry. I persisted in doing it for years in, of all places, Hartford Connecticut. On every Monday I would grab a bunch of musicians and go to Hartford and make substantial money. Otherwise I was going to the Neighborhood Playhouse and reading my poetry in the evenings at the Gaslight Café in Greenwich Village, as you saw in the movie.
RW:  That’s an amazing story. There was another thing you said in the film, “put your good where it can do the most.”
WG:  Which is the advice I gleaned from one of my mentors, the author and adventurer, Ken Kesey.
RW:  Did that kind of focus something for you?
WG:  Well, it lit up. It lit up. I had discovered that, somewhat. Whenever I would do a good thing, it made me feel good. I think I heard a preacher of color on television in the late fifties. He said, “It’s nice to be nice.” And that kind of hit a chord for me.
RW:  Do you think there’s a mix in what artists do? That in your poetry, part of it was trying to give something?
WG:  Hmmm, I don’t know. I was just trying to get out of the way and let whatever was inside of me come to the surface. In the early days, I was not all that consciously altruistic—although, in the early days of poetry, the poets were not paid. We used to pass a cornucopia around after an hour or so and people would put money in it. We made an embarrassing amount of money that way. Myself and Len Chandler, who was one of the first folk singers I brought into The Gaslight, he and I put on these capes with hoods—Len was an African-American and he had a motor scooter. And we would jump on the motor scooter at the end of the evening and drive down into the Bowery and find somebody passed out on the sidewalk. We’d stuff his pockets with money and drive off and find somebody else until we’d given away at least half of what we’d made in the course of the evening. It was a lot of fun.
RW:  That’s incredible. What do you think led you to do that?
WG:  I don’t know. It just seemed like a fun thing to do. We didn’t need all that money.
RW:  Do you remember the moment when Ken Kesey said “Put your good where it will do the most good”?
WG:  No.  But he told me a lot of stuff—like, “You should honor your mother and your father.” This comes out of the Bible. As soon as I learned that Kesey had written that, I forget how he worded it, I immediately called my mother and my father and honored them verbally as best I could. And it was illuminating for them and for me. Afterwards, I called Ken up to thank him. He said, “Well, it’s just so darn simple.”
RW:  I want to ask about giving and receiving. Do you have any thoughts in general, let’s say, about giving?
WG:  Giving seems to be easy for me. Receiving is the thing I’m just beginning to learn how to do with grace. It’s a work in progress, like the rest of me. Over the last thirty years I’ve experienced considerable physical difficulty, having had to receive a series of spinal surgeries and spending amounts of time in body casts. You have no alternative, or you starve. So it was necessary. I tell people I learned patience in the hospital. [there’s a pause] That’s a pun.
RW:   You’re right! [laughs]
WG:  And as my infirmities persisted, I learned to acquiesce to the moment and accept, with as much graciousness as I could muster, the assistance of people who offered it.
RW:  I bet this is true for lots of people, that it’s easier to give than to receive.
WG:  Right, but as I pointed out, I didn’t have much choice, as with a lot of the stuff that has happened to me in my life. Life situations have presented themselves and it was either sink or swim.
RW:  This reminds me of another part in the film. This is at Woodstock. You and the other members of The Hog Farm were brought there to be the police force for the whole event. You called yourselves “the please force.”
WG:  We were the Please Force. And we had also set up what we called the Trip Tent.
RW:  And there’s a part in the movie where you describe helping a young man who was having a bad acid trip.
WG:  As he came in ranting, this three-hundred pound Australian doctor laid on top of him and said, “Body contact. You need body contact” [said with an accent] and then a psychiatrist leaned in and said, [using another funny voice] “Just think of your third eye, man.”
Then I figured it was time for me to make my move. I said, “Excuse me. I’d like to try something here.” And they all backed up. What’s this hippie going to do? That’s when I said, “What’s your name, man?”
RW:  And he mumbled something…
WG:  I said, “No, your name.” He told me his name and I said it back to him. In fact, I said it back to him several times.
RW:  I noticed how very clear and emphatic you were when you got his name. “Okay, Bob. Bob, that’s your name.”
WG:  Your name is Bob.
RW:  Where did you get the knowledge of using that simple directness?
WG:  We’d spent some time on the psychotropic frontiers through the prankster days and beyond. It was not unfamiliar territory.
RW:  You knew something about being really concrete, and focused.
WG:  And through the greatest professor of them all, professor experience; and from courses at hard knocks university.
RW:  You’ve had a lot of hard knocks university experience, I think.
WG:  Yes. Well, that’s how you learn things.
RW:  You said in the film how you’d found you could get high without the psychotropic assistance. Could you say something about that again?
WG:  There are many ways to alter space. I do lots of breathing exercises, and I do mantras. Different people have different recipes to get to a space of consciousness and then to dwell in it for as long as you can, I guess. My own way is an amalgam of many different practices from many different lineages.
RW:  You evolved from Hugh Romney doing the poetry to where you were wearing a jester’s hat.
WG:  Between poems I used to talk about the bizarre things that happened to me during the day because it was really tedious just reading all these poems night after night after night.  Then a guy came along and said, look, skip the poetry. Just talk about your bizarre experiences. That’s how I got into doing stand-up.
Lenny Bruce became my manager. I put out a couple of albums and toured the U.S. —and in fact, something of the world—doing stand-up before these other things came along.
RW:  Somewhere you left the jester’s hat and started dressing as a clown.
WG:  I was asked, when we had moved to Berkeley in the mid-seventies, to go the Children’s Hospital in Oakland and cheer up kids. On the way out the door of my house, someone handed me a red, rubber nose. I discovered it enabled me to get out of myself and be entertaining to the kids. After awhile, I began to paint my face up as a clown. Somebody gave me a costume, and a clown who was retiring from Ringling Brothers gave me his giant shoes. I worked with kids, with kids who were terminal, even, and did this almost every day for about seven years.
At one point I had to go to a political rally at Peoples’ Park and I didn’t have time to take off my clown stuff. I discovered that the police didn’t want to hit me anymore. Clowns are safe.
RW:  Can you say more about what your experience at Children’s Hospital working with kids was like?
WG:  I discovered that not only was I helping the kids, I was helping myself. As I began to do this work, I’d gone through three major back surgeries and was in quite a bit of pain. But working with the kids I discovered that as I focused on the children and the pain they were in, I lost track of my own pain.
RW:  Is the clown an archetype you can inhabit?
WG:   Sure.
RW:  Do you think, “I’m a clown?”
WG:  I don’t know. I can’t see you.
RW:  [laughs] No. I have a long way to go. If I evolved, I might become a clown.
WG:  Well, you need to go to camp Winnarainbow. They’ll teach you to clown. It’d be good for you. I think John Townsend said it most brilliantly in The Book of the Clown, “A clown is a poet who is also an orangutan.” But clown comes from the word “clod” or bumpkin, and the red nose indicates they were drunk. But I found all this out later. Suddenly I have these big shoes on and [laughs] a nose and I’m painting my face up, and where does it all come from? I began to study it, and it’s very fascinating, the path of the clown and the jester.
RW:  What have you found out about being a clown? What has been revealed?
WG:  It enables me to go places I couldn’t go as a regular kind of guy. People feel challenged by people going where I go. But when I put on the patina of a clown I’m no challenge to them in any way.
RW:  What do you wish for people when you become a clown?
WG:  I wish that they would find joy in the moment. It’s like I expressed in the film, laughter is the valve on the pressure cooker of life. Either you laugh at stuff or you’re going to end up with your beans on the ceiling.
RW:  At camp Winnarainbow in the film it showed the labyrinth you have on the grounds…
WG:  It’s a unicursal Cretan labyrinth. The oldest one is 3000 years old and was found on the island of Sardinia. The more common labyrinth, like the one you see at Grace Cathedral came about during the 11th or 12th century when Europeans could not go to Jerusalem on pilgrimage. So they developed this other labyrinth, which is different from the Pagan labyrinth, which made it to Scandanavia, to India and somehow to Peru and to the sun temple at Mesa Verde. That’s where I first encountered it when I spent time living with the Hopi Indians for a few months.
RW:  How did that happen?
WG:  I was enamored of the Book of the Hopi by Frank Waters. And that’s where I first saw the labyrinth. According to the Hopi if there was a condition of planetary emergency the different races would gather on this mesa for instruction from the spirit world. So I showed up. They said, “You’re pretty early.” But they took pity on me and I got to hang out with them for a while.
RW:  Was anything given to you?
WG:  Not something that I would feel comfortable talking about, but yes—not so much from the people as from the geography.
RW:  So you brought this labyrinth to camp Winnarainbow, then?
WG:  Yes. I asked Minalanska, who was an elder, what that was. She said, “Oh Wavy Gravy, that’s just the master plan of the universe.” So I borrowed a pencil and wrote it down, and I’ve brought it everywhere I’ve gone ever since. I learned to draw it. Even with my first book, I’d sign it and draw that labyrinth.
RW:  Now how do you make use of the labyrinth at camp for the kids?
WG:  A teepee at a time, in the evening, the campers get to walk the labyrinth to beautiful music under the stars. If they do good things, they get strokes. If they do bad things they get strikes. Three strikes and you’re out. You can always work off strikes, but you can get enough strikes to be sent home, too. By doing things above and beyond the ordinary camper—for instance, if you get eight stokes in a two-week session, you get to walk into the center of the labyrinth. In the center, there’s also these crystals. You get to take a crystal out of the labyrinth and take it home.
RW:  Do you talk to the kids about the labyrinth?
WG:  Oh, sure.
RW:  What do you tell them?
WG:  I tell them that the labyrinth is not a maze. Mazes are designed to get you lost. Labyrinths are designed to get you found. And I ask them to think of each step as a prayer for peace. I tell them you go into the labyrinth and that there’s an energy in the center that I call the spirit of Gaia, the earth mother. I say that if you have cares or problems you can leave them in the labyrinth and come out perhaps lighter than when you went in. And that is sometimes helpful to young people.
RW:  In the film you made a comment to one kid that the labyrinth is inside of you.
WG:  Oh, I tell all the kids that. The true labyrinth is inside you.
RW:  That’s powerful. From the film, I see that your life has been a journey. Do you feel it that way?
WG:  Absolutely. It’s been a great adventure.
RW:  What are some of the changes from where you were and where you are today?
WG:  The things that are the most significant for me in my life are the circus and performing arts camp that I’ve run with my wife Jahanara for over thirty years. We do nine weeks for kids and one week for grown-ups. And the Seva Foundation is another. Through it I’m able to raise funds to help the blind regain their sight. Eighty percent of the blind people in the world don’t need to be—they can get their sight back.
When we first started doing the work it was about five dollars for a cataract operation. Now it’s close to fifty dollars for the operation in third world countries. If you go to SEVA.org you can find out all about us. We’ve helped to orchestrate—it’s going on three million sight-saving operations. I get to put on concerts to raise funds to do that. I’m going to be seventy-five years old in May and I’m looking forward to doing a concert in the Bay Area at the Craneway Pavillion in Richmond and in New York City at the Beacon Theater. And also I’m facing another basic spinal surgery in January. So I’ve got a lot of stuff on my plate.
RW:  I know we don’t have much more time, but …
WG:  Eternity now, I always say.  That’s one of my favorite quotes. And we’re all the same person trying to shakes hands with our self. I think that’s a good one, too.
RW:  I like those quotes. It’s clear that you’ve spent a lot of time doing forms of service. Camp Winnarainbow seems to be a service.
WG:  Well, my greatest legacy is the children that have come out of camp over the last thirty years. Lots of the kids who started camp when they were seven are now running the camp. And I’m sure it will go on long after I’m gone.
RW:  Is that something one begins to learn, that the deepest gifts come when one can look beyond personal wants to take in the needs of others?
WG:  That is my want! [laughs] Put your good where it will do the most. I can’t say it any better.

Previous parts:  1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6
---------------------------------------------------
The Doctor didn't tell you where you were going today. All she said was it would be a little hot. Obviously, she decided to surprise you. You never were happy with surprises. You liked when everyone talked to you straight. Besides, waiting was a real torture for you. You couldn't stand it.
Now you were in the TARDIS wardrobe, looking at yourself in the mirror. You were wearing a shirt and skirt. You liked it. Simple but stylish. But you decided to put on a white scarf made of light fabric. Now it was perfect.
'I like it. Looks great' you inwardly made a compliment.
'It would look better if you wore purple.'
Of course, how could be without him? Could the Master ever leave you alone for one day? You didn't process last night's meeting in the TARDIS and he was here again. There was one but. You didn't mind. Well, not exactly. You were, of course, but not as much as you could have been. Earlier you would have tried to get rid of the Master, but now you didn't really want it. Yes, there was a note of discontent, but certainly not a fountain.
'Has anyone ever told you you're obsessed with purple?' there was one advantage of this conversation. You could tease the Master. The main thing was not to get carried away.
'Yes, they don't shut up. Usually they quickly fall silent for some reason... So strange!' he said it so dramatically that you immediately rolled eyes. The sarcasm clearly sounded in his voice.
You walked through the corridors of the TARDIS, coming back to the console room. You decided to leave his remark without comment. Maybe the Master would leave you if you just didn't say anything. Honestly, you didn't particularly want to tease or argue with him. Just wanted to spend some time quietly on some alien planet. You had a lot of thoughts to deal with. For example, what the hell happened yesterday? So you were begging for two or three hours of solitude and peace.
'So, where are you going this time?' but apparently, this would remain a pipe dream. Deep down, you took a deep breath.
'Why do you want to know?'
'It's not polite to answer questions with questions, love' you could feel his grin. Could even imagine it. So often you had seen the Master lately. You felt it near your ear. Damn telepathy. Sometimes you just hated this.
'Anyway, I won't tell you until I know why' you crossed your arms over your chest, which made you a little uncomfortable walking. But you couldn't help yourself.
'I'm just curious' to your surprise, you believed the Master. It really sounded sincere. But out of habit, you asked.
'Really?'
'Yes, I'm not lying. Swear on two hearts it is.'
'I'm sorry. Just last time you pretended to be a different person and were jealous of yourself.'
'I wasn't jealous' you were sure the Master was offended and pouted. He often reminded you of a little spoiled child.
'Oh, right. How could I forget about your unsurpassed acting talent?'
'I forgive you. Next time I won't be so generous' you rolled eyes again. You thought you would soon see your entrails.
Finally you reached the console room. The Doctor was waiting for you, leaning on the console and reading a book. You didn't want to know what it was about. Either in a language that the TARDIS refused to translate or you wouldn't understand complicated words.
"Doc, I'm ready" she smiled and put the book away, looking at you.
"Wow! Scarf! I love scarves. I wore it once. It was so long that when folded in half it reached my heels and I was taller" your face immediately broke into a wide smile. You had no doubts that it was true.
'I always wanted to straighten it so the Doctor would fall.'
You weren't even surprised by the Master's comment. It was a little funny, though. Usually he tried to kill the Doctor, set a death trap for her. But right now it was quite different. Just a little prank. He was definitely a child at heart.
'I think it's cute' you objected.
'You just didn't see the scarf. It was multicolored and striped. No sense of style. I've never had a problem with style' and here he was again. Did the Master ever get tired of praises? Obviously not.
"Y/N, is everything okay? You're frowning" the Doctor peeked around the central column. Damn, she noticed. You got carried away with argument. Emotions showed on your face.
"Er... I was just talking to my mother yesterday. It brought up couple of unpleasant memories. It's okay."
You tried to give the Doctor a confused smile, but it was more tight and unconvincing. But it was enough for her to stop asking questions. A small sigh of relief escaped from your throat.
'Liar. Did you learn it from the Doctor or you always did it?' the Master teased. This situation clearly amused him. You really wanted to see his face and hit him so hard.
The Doctor stood at the door and opened it, inviting you to come out. So you did. You were met by a scorching red sun, which made you close eyes and put hand to your forehead to create some shade.
The sharp smell of spices hit your nose. So sharp that you wanted to sneeze. In front of you were stalls with all sorts of things. Spices, flowers, fruits, vegetables, technologies, etc. It seemed you could buy here everything in the Universe.
It was so atmospheric. There was a lot of people. Some of them examined and brought goods. Others shouted and argued. Apparently, didn't agree on price or quality.
Everything seemed so alive here. Real. No pomp and conventions. Simple and clear. That was what you really liked and missed a little. You couldn't take your eyes off this sight. It was even a little breathtaking. In a good way, of course.
"Welcome to Guoron. Planet of merchants and markets" the Doctor put hand on your shoulder as she lined up with you. "You said you wanted something simple. So I thought..." she didn't finish the sentence when she saw the tears in your eyes. "Sorry. I thought you'd like it. I can take you somewhere else..."
"Don't you dare. Don't even think about it" you said sharply, raising your voice at the Doctor and wiping away tears. "I'm crying with happiness. I didn't think it would be so great" you added more gently after seeing her surprised and wondering look.
The Doctor brightened. Her eyes showed she let out a deep mental breath. She was about to say something, but jumped up and ran to the counter.
"Oh, look. It's a waste-to-fuel Converter. I didn't know it was invented in the 37th century. I thought I was 39th. I learn something new every day" the Doctor never changed. This was probably a good thing. Besides, it was difficult not to like it. Every time she did that, you instantly smiled.
You decided to leave the Doctor. Let her examine mechanisms on his own. You weren't as interested in it as her. Honestly, you weren't interested at all.
You moved forward. Stalls were endless. It was like the street, you were walking on, led to nowhere.
You had some kind of alien fruit in your hands. You were given it to taste even though you didn't have any money. The Doctor must forget to give money to you. Or just didn't have it as usual.
The fruit was blue, round and bumpy. It was glowing a little. In general, it resembled a raspberry. Just increased in size. You took a small bite of the fruit. It tasted like watermelon. Great! Your first alien fruit was edible and delicious. But you hardly finished your meal when the Master appeared in your mind again.
'Aren't you tired of lying to the Doctor?' he definitely wasn't going to leave you alone. It was getting annoying, as if everything, that had happened yesterday, didn't make any sense.
'What else should I do? Tell her everything? I don't think that's a good idea. So what do you suggest?'
Before the Master could respond, you heard that someone was addressing to you and trying to get your attention.
"The girl with white scarf!" you turned and looked around. You were the only one who wore a scarf. Certainly white. But you asked with embarrassment.
"Me?" you said to the old lady in the orange dress, moving closer to her.
"Yes, you" she just smiled sweetly, even though you were still looking at her in confusion. You certainly didn't expect that someone here would address to you. "Don't you want to know your fate?"
"Sorry, but I don't believe in fate" you were already half-turned and about to leave, but the old lady wasn't going to give up so quickly.
"Aren't you curious, Y/N?" your eyes immediately widened as soon as you heard your name.
Where did she know it? Did someone tell her? But who then? Not many people know it (especially on another planet or century). You certainly weren't as famous as the Master or the Doctor.
"W-where do you know?" you barely managed to say it. Your voice was trembling. Disquiet and anxiety grew in you at an extraordinary rate.
The old lady didn't answer you. She just signed to follow her. You weren't sure you should do it. On the one hand, you really wanted to. After all, you always were curious.
On the other hand, you were worried. Maybe it was a trick. Like using you as bait for the Doctor. And that wouldn't surprise you very much. In your practice, this was the norm.
'Don't go, dear. Surely this is some kind of trap' in the Master's voice there was a... concern? He worried about you? If you didn't know him, you'd be pretty sure he did.
'It's nice to know you care about me' through the bond, you felt his resentment and annoyance. He must have crossed arms over his chest and rolled eyes. 'But I want to know where she knows my name. If you don't like it, get out of my head.'
It wasn't a good idea to talk to the Master like that, but you didn't care. This old woman was right. You were very curious. So much that it got the better of your disquiet. And even though you didn't believe in predictions, you couldn't help yourself.
Long pause. A long, tense pause. You even started to get nervous, because the Master didn't say anything. Nothing radiated through the bond, as if he wasn't in your head, although you could tell it wasn't true.
'Okay. I'll give you fifteen minutes' and now you were alone. Alone with all this madness. You were hoping in fifteen minutes you wouldn't hear the Master saying 'I told you so'.
You were a little sad he was gone. Honestly, you wanted him to stay. Now you regretted you sent him away. At least, it would be some support. And even if the Master teased you, it would be much better than being alone.
You went inside the store. It was dark. The only light sources were candles. The room had a couple of bookcases with various books. There were skulls on some of the shelves. You wanted to believe these were 'magic' skulls and not something else.
In the middle of the room was a table with two chairs. The old lady was already sitting at the table, shuffling cards, waiting for you, like she knew you would come in.
"Glad you didn't listen to the Master" you froze in place with round eyes. You didn't even hide your surprise.
How the hell did she know about the Master? He was in your head. He even wasn't on this planet. And in general, how did she know you argued with him to come in or not? Now you weren't only curious, but also scared.
"Sit down" you slowly sat in the chair in front of the old lady. You were still waiting for the catch.
"Where do you know my name?"
It was the only thing that made you be here. You wanted to deal with this quickly and get out of here as quickly as possible. That lady scared the hell out of you. Perhaps, more than the Master had ever done.
"Take four cards from the deck" you quickly blinked your eyes. Your mouth opened to object, but she cut you off. "Just do it. I promise you'll get answers."
Brilliant! It didn't bother you at all. The woman, who knew your name and your meetings with the Master (even the Doctor wasn't aware of it), didn't frighten you at all. Just the best day on this damn planet!
Your hand with wariness (as if you put your hand on a hot pan) pulled out four cards.
"I made predictions to many people. Counts, generals, kings and others. And some of them came across a card that means deadly danger" she said, shuffling your cards.
'Um... Okay, but how does that explain she knows me?' you thought to yourself, shifting in your chair. You were hoping the Master would say something now. But unfortunately, this didn't happen.
"Your first card is the inverted King of swords. In your past there was a strong enemy who caused you a lot of trouble and suffering. He has done you serious harm. Did you have him?" the abrupt transition confused you a little. Maybe this old lady would tell you later what she meant earlier.
You were thinking. Yeah, you had one guy at school who bullied and humiliated you. You even cried about it a couple of times, but you wouldn't call him a strong enemy.
In general, you could include the Master there, if we talked about the past. But he wasn't exactly your enemy, he was the Doctor's. But considering he threatened you and your friends... So theoretically, he was.
"Yes, I had. But perhaps, everyone had such person" the lady nodded at this and on her face was written 'fair'.
"Well, they were threatened with death, but they were always saved by someone" you frowned, trying to understand who she was talking about. Probably about her clients. "The more such predictions were made, the more I learned about this person. And that was you."
Wait what? You quickly blinked in surprise. Would you save someone? Of course, you traveled with the Doctor, but usually it was she, who saved the situation.
"Well, yes, I'm traveling with the Doctor, but I'm only helping her..." you lowered your head and rubbed your neck in confusion.
"No, it was you and not with the Doctor. Have any clue?"
Even if that was true, how could you save alien kings and counts without her? You didn't have your own ship... And then it hit you. You even forgot about it. You met the Master from your future and he said you two were together. Well, after that, you interrupted him, not wanting to know what he meant.
Apparently, in the future, you would travel with the Master and dissuade him from killing. And it seemed possible. Of course, you were a little unsure of your guess, but that was the only explanation.
Besides, the more you met the Master, the more you believed he could change. And if he could, maybe one day... you would leave the Doctor for him (and just a month ago you thought that was impossible).
You would not because you were attracted to the Master. You just felt like you were the only one who were good to him. Plus, the Doctor had Fam. In the worst case, she would easily find a new companion, but the Master wouldn't.
"Wow! Congratulations. You got the Sun. Now your life is like a fairy tale. Adventure and true love. Perfect combination" okay, let's say the first time it was an accident. But now it didn't feel like this.
You definitely couldn't complain about your life now. It was really good. You saw the stars and history again with your own eyes. And there was definitely something between you and the Master. You wouldn't say (at least, for now) it was love. But you couldn't deny you didn't have feelings for him, either.
"Let's say I believe you, but why did you say 'I'm glad you didn't listen to the Master'?" you decided she shouldn't know she was right. You still didn't trust her, but the more time passed, the more you believed her story.
"I know you've been talking to him a lot lately. Don't worry, the Doctor won't know about it" the tension began to gradually leave your muscles. You didn't even notice it until now. "I know a lot about you from the predictions. Didn't I say that?" you looked away. You needed time to digest all this information.
Honestly, you weren't as scared as you were when you first came in. Of course, you were, but for some reason, deep down, you believed her. Felt this lady would do no harm to you.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Really sorry" your eyes were quickly up to her face, asking 'what happened?' "Inverted Ten of swords. This is one of the most frightening card. You will soon face a terrible ordeal. And it will bring you tears, pain and devastation."
It was like you were struck by lightning. Although you didn't believe in fate (after all, previous cards didn't fully convince you), it was still scary to hear this. You didn't want to know what the last card would be. It didn't take a genius to figure out what it would tell you. Your future in general.
You got up and walked quickly to the door. The old lady tried to stop you, but you weren't going to turn around. You were devastated. No thoughts, no emotions. Just nothing. The only thing you wanted was fresh air. Well, as far as it was possible in the market.
When you entered a small alley, you stopped and pressed your back against the wall, taking a deep breath and closing your eyes. Surely, you didn't think the day would pass like this. It was supposed to be wonderful. Supposed to be.
You had no idea you were going to be so upset today. Especially from fortune telling. It was more likely the Master would spoil your mood, but certainly not this.Maybe you shouldn't have left. Maybe the last card was a good one. Maybe everything would end well. You would live happily ever after...
You stood there for a few more minutes in silence. Alone with yourself... Damn, you wished the Master was back in your head. His taunts would cheer you up. Who knew you loved them so much? Certainly not you.
When you came back to normal a little, you were about to leave and find the Doctor, but you were violently grabbed by arms.

Well, this wasn’t what you were expecting to happen when you boarded your flight for a business trip. It was just a local flight, only two hours, so you’d been expecting to take a quick nap and get cramps in your legs from the limited leg space, but nothing more than that. Just a boring, usual flight.
Oh, how wrong you’d been. You realized you were long as soon as you arrived at our seat and looked down to see the seat beside you occupied by the most beautiful woman you’d ever laid eyes on. For a moment, your breath was actually snatched away, and you struggled to pull your eyes away in order to put your bag in the overhead bin. Just seeing her made your heart pound like crazy, but you tried not to think about it as you put your bag away. It was just a flight, you didn’t want to look like a weirdo.
As you sat down, she looked up from your phone and locked eyes with you, making your heart skip a beat. Quickly, you gave her what you hoped was a polite smile and nod in greeting, and she returned the gesture with a simple, yet elegant smile, tilting her head ever so slightly as she waved at you.
“Good morning,” she said, speaking slowly. Her voice was slightly deep, although you couldn’t tell if it was just because of the morning hour. You felt like you were in high school again, anxious as you greeted her in return.
“Good morning. Since I’m in the aisle, just let me know if you need to get out.”
“I’ll do that, thank you.” And with that, the polite exchange between two strangers was over, just like it always was on planes. Still, your heart wouldn’t slow down as you settled into your seat and pulled out your earbuds, and you knew your friends were going to have a good laugh about this when you got home and told them about it later.
Soon, everyone around you was seated and the flight attendants were going through the now-familiar safety routine in the aisle. You could feel yourself getting tired, your late night of packing catching up to you, so you buckled your seat belt and let yourself relax, only half-listening as the plane shook to life underneath you.
-
When you opened your eyes again, the plane was in the air, the cabin was quiet, and there was a soft pressure on your shoulder. In your sleepy haze, it took you a moment to notice it and you blinked as you turned to look at your side. However, as soon as you saw what was happening, your eyes flew open and your heart jumped in your chest, waking you up.
The beautiful woman was sleeping with her head on your shoulder. You froze, staring at the top of her head, slowing your breathing as you tried to figure out what to do. Did she know that she was leaning on you? Would it be best to wake her up here or to just let her sleep? As you leaned forward slightly, looking at her face, you noticed the dark circles under her eyes. For a brief moment, she looked like she was frowning in her sleep and you froze again, but then her features smoothed out again and she looked peaceful leaning against you, her long eyelashes brushing against her cheeks. How could someone be so cute?
Was it weird to notice how long a stranger’s eyelashes were? Probably. You quickly looked away and stared resolutely at the chair in front of you, trying not to move, determined not to be a creep. What should you do?
The woman breathed in, sounding content, and you realized that you couldn’t wake her. She seemed exhausted and, if she was tired enough to sleep on a stranger’s shoulder without noticing it, then she needed the rest. Swallowing, you gently settled back into you seat and checked the time on your phone. The ride would be over soon anyway. It wasn’t like this was uncomfortable in any way, she was so light you hardly noticed her.
Plus, you had plenty of downloaded content to keep you distracted.
-
It wasn’t until the plane began to land and the captain came over the speakers to remind everyone to stay seated with their seat belts on that the woman stirred. Once again, you froze, holding your breath as you turned to look at her. Slowly, she blinked her eyes open, taking in her surroundings.
Then she locked eyes with you, let out a little squeak, and quickly sat up, her hair slightly unkempt and her face red.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” She ran a hand through her hair as she looked apologetically at your shoulder, the other hand coming up to cover her mouth. Well, she certainly hadn’t slept on your shoulder on purpose.
“No, no, it’s okay,” you assured her, waving a hand and smiling. “I was asleep until not long ago so it was no issue. I hardly noticed it.” Well, it was only half a lie. You had definitely noticed her presence, but it hadn’t been an issue.
“This is so embarrassing.” She let out a short laugh and covered her face. “I’m sorry, I put you in such an awkward situation.”
“Again, it’s okay. It seemed like you needed your sleep.” You laughed as well, keeping your tone light. “I’m not sure I would have been able to wake you up if I tried. You slept through some turbulence as we were preparing to land.”
“I did?” She rubbed a hand over her face and sighed, shaking her head. “I guess I was more tired than I thought. I’m only running on four hours of sleep and some coffee.”
“I can understand that.” You thought back to your own long night spent packing, and your rushed coffee from that morning. “I’m not really sure how much sleep I got, but it felt like my alarm went off as soon as I fell asleep.”
This, thankfully, got a real laugh out of her and she turned back to lock eyes with you, smiling once again. You really liked her smile. “I’m glad you understand, I got lucky sitting by you.” Her words did something to your heart, but you managed to control your expression. “My name is Saerom, by the way. Since I slept on your shoulder it’s only right that you know.”
“I’m (Y/N), it’s nice to meet you,” you said, holding out your hand. She shook it, and her hand was small yet firm. “That schedule of yours makes you think that you’re flying in for business too. Am I correct?”
“That’s right! I’m attending a conference on leadership for the company I work for. I hate it right now, but once I leave I’ll be glad I went.”
Now this was news. Your eyebrows went up as she spoke, unable to hide your surprise. “A leadership conference? Does it start tomorrow at the city convention center by any chance?”
Her smile widened. “It does! Are you attending too?”
“I am, what a coincidence!” A coincidence that you were very happy about. “What are the chances that we’d sit next to each other?”
“And that I’d fall asleep on your shoulder, leading to this conversation?” She giggled and your heart skipped a beat again. You really wanted to see her again. If she was okay with it, of course.
“I’m no expert, but I’d say they’re pretty low.”
“No kidding. This is so funny, I’ll have to tell my friends about this. But I’m actually really glad I met someone else who’s going!” She still spoke slow, even when she was excited, and you found it both endearing and amusing. So it wasn’t just because she was tired.
“I am too. This is my first time coming to this conference, so other than my boss who’s a speaker, I don’t know anyone there.”
“It’s the same for me. I was really nervous that I would just end up sitting and standing around alone the entire time.”
“At least now we can be two people standing around instead of one.” At some point when the two of you were talking and joking, the plane had landed, but you hadn’t noticed it at all. Now, as the captain came over the speakers to announce that the plane had safely arrived in your destination, you watched as she pulled out her phone.
“Here,” she said after a moment, handing it over to you. “Put in your number and I’ll text you. Would you like to meet up for breakfast before the conference starts tomorrow? I have a feeling we’ll need some coffee.”
You could hardly believe this was happening. A bit dizzy, you put your number into her phone and handed it back, unable to control your happy smile. Suddenly, you didn’t hate plane rides or work-required travel near as much as you used to.
“That sounds like a wonderful idea.”

Unforeseen Chasm (Part 63)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:4309
Warnings: Lift in spirits for reader, a year after the snap, feelings exposed again, arguing, angry Tony, Bruce vs. Tony, fighting, a change in life, surgery/transplant, happiness and fluff for the OFC. life goes by for reader, looming darkness, Song for this part: Is there somewhere - Halsey Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels). It’s a collaboration with the amazing @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo. It started as a funny “What if…?” and it evolved and got huge. This took two years to write. We are both proud and happy and we hope you enjoy it. It follows from Thor 1 to Endgame in the MCU. Some of the timelines may be off in order to fit certain people, and some characters may show up earlier or in different ways than they have in the movie. But for the most part, it follows the MCU. It also has a bit of crossover with some other Marvel characters throughout the story.

It was the following morning that you ran into Remy on the way out of the hotel, just outside the doors.
“Didn’t expect you to still be around, not after my killjoy session last night.”
“Oh, don’t take all the glory. You aren’t the soul reason for all the heartache going around,” he assured jovially.
You stopped and turned to face him. “Remy, I know what you’re trying to do, and I appreciate it, I do. You’re trying to act like everything is okay, or that everything is gonna be okay, and I know that’s just your nature. I know you don’t want to seem down, but you’re going to have to, for me. I left because of the optimism. I don’t have it in me, okay?” you begged softly, grabbing his arm and squeezing. “For me, just… dwell in the harsh reality. Think of me as misery and you’re my company, alright?”
He nodded, a sweet smile on his face. “Alright. I’ll stop with the cheerful talk.”
You thanked him and the two of you began walking to your first sight to visit today. “And besides… it is my fault. It’s all my fault.”
“Oh, come on now,” he started, scoffing and you threw a daring look his way.
“No, it really is. I was out on the battlefield. I should’ve been there to stop Thanos. Instead, I was too focused on everyone else. I wanted to make sure they were safe. By the time I realized Thanos was here, it was too late.”
“Cher, I don’t think you could’ve taken him alone,’ he offered gently. “You said he went up against Cap’n Rogers, Romanoff, Banner--”
“Right. All mortals. Wanda slowed him down, tremendously. Thor nearly killed him the first time. Can you imagine what I could do? I’m Thor and Wanda and you rolled into one. I could’ve killed him. It might not have been easy, but if someone had my back, made sure I didn’t get interrupted, I could’ve done it.”
“I think you’re bein’ a little hard on yourself.”
“I think you’re being ignorant to the facts,” you retorted.
He sighed. “Well that may be, but it doesn’t change the fact that when the snapped happened, you were the first person I thought of.”
“That so?” you challenged, keeping your eyes down to the ground. “Why didn’t I get a call then?”
“I figured you’d be busy. I wasn’t sure about you and Loki, or Shannon. I wanted to check on you, but if things were bad, I didn’t want to come barging in. Besides, we had the mess at the mansion to take care of. I couldn’t just drop all that. I wanted to but…”
“No, I’m glad you didn’t. I was busy. I was busy trying not to fall apart, trying to be there for Shannon, in the small capacity I could be anyway.”
“It seems we found each other at the right time, then.”
“Found each other? You tracked me across the globe. It’s not exactly a coincidence,” you reminded, a touch of humor in your voice.
The two of you set off then, quietly. You went all around the city. Remy took photos for you and of you, so that you could focus on the beauty here and now, be in the moment. When nightfall happened and you started walking back to your hotel, you began talking. It was nice to have someone to talk to.
“We had all these plans, you know?” you started suddenly. “I don’t know how to live without him. Here or back in New York. he’s been such a huge part of my life, my every day life for years…”
“I bet that’s hard.”
“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to live through,” you admitted.
With that, he wrapped his arm around your shoulder and pulled you in close as you two walked.
-----------------------------------
Things had begun to die down for what had happened. You were still missing and that didn't stop Shannon from continuing her search. At some point she and Tony had left the compound and had gone to find a peaceful place to start a new chapter in their marriage. It was time to start a family. Everyone had gone their separate ways so it was only natural that they wanted to bring some happiness to this point in their lives.
Bruce had come to terms with the fact that Shannon wouldn’t be leaving Tony anytime soon but that didn't stop him from confessing his feelings. Things had gotten heated after that, seeing as when Bruce said those words Tony had just been walking in. This created a fight. They ended up going a few rounds and Shannon had ultimately had to use her powers to rip the men apart from each other.
“You two are acting like savages, this needs to stop!” she growled, holding them both back. “Now, Bruce, you know I’m married to Tony and I love him very much and yes I do love you too but, I’m not sure there’s something that can be done.” She turned over to the other man. “Tony, what in God’s name is wrong with you?! He’s your friend, not some stranger.” She lets them go and huffs. “You two need to figure this out, okay? And no more fighting.”
She walked away and both men walked off to the bar and had a long talk about what would happen.
“Listen, Tony I never wanted to get to this point but I love Shannon just as you do and I would never do anything to hurt her.” He holds his drink up to the cut on his eyebrow. “I know this isn’t conventional but would you be willing to have a polyamorous relationship so that I can be with her?” Bruce hoped that the other man would agree.
“I gotta say Bruce you have some courage to confess your feelings to a married woman, but my wife!” He shook his head. “I mean I kinda knew you had those feelings from when you had been helping her at the mansion, but I’m not sure if I can be okay with that type of situation and it’s not up to me. It’s up to Shannon on whether or not she wants that.” He refilled his glass. “I’ll have to talk with Shannon and then we can all sit down to figure this out.”
“See, I didn’t think I would get this far.” He sighed. “But you’re right, Shannon should be the one who decides.”
Upon returning to the compound, the three sat down and talked about what would happen next. She agreed to open up the relationship to have her husband and now, Bruce, her boyfriend. Once it was all decided, the next thing that happened was having the cabin built to accommodate the three of them and the potential future.
Life was as normal as it could get for Shannon, Bruce and Tony they’d all found a way to make their relationship work. Who would be with Shannon which nights and things like that. One thing that was a major change was that after searching she was finally able to get a uterus transplant. Which would come to bring a change in their life with the hopes of her having a child.  There were dozens of attempts after her body had accepted the new organ, but to no avail was she able to get pregnant right away, needless to say they didn’t stop trying. There had been a point where Shannon believed that she would never be able to get pregnant but she was pleasantly surprised when she took a home test and it had come out positive. She had done her own at the tower’s lab to confirm what the test had said. Knowing that she was finally able to carry her own child was the best moment she could live through. It was nearing the end of October and she hadn’t figured out how to tell him yet but she knew she’d figure it out.
It’d been about a year since Y/N had left and the search for her still continued. She also began to see which X-men still remained. The one person that she hadn’t thought would survive would be Wade Wilson, formerly known as Deadpool.
Shannon figured he’d be a good bet if any in finding you.
“Come on, Wade, pick up the phone,” she mumbled, waiting for the phone to stop ringing.
A second later on the other line all she heard was, “Shut it, tin balls, I’m on the phone! Hello?”
“Hey, Wade, it’s Shannon,” she said. “Are you busy?”
“Well, hello there, Mrs. Stark. What a pleasure.” He mocked formality. “I’m pretty free, what’s up?”
“I was hoping we could  meet,so we can talk about this in person.”
“Sure thing. Send me your coordinates and I’ll be there soon. Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to!” And with that the call ended
About half an hour later there was a knock at the door. Bruce had gone out for a jog and Tony, like always, was hiding in the garage working on who knows what. Which gave Shannon the perfect timing to talk to Wade.
“Coming!” she yelled from the kitchen. She grabbed a hand towel and wiped the water off them and opened the door. “Hey, Wade, come on in.” She moved to let him in.
“Aww what no hug?” He stood there with his arms open. “Whoa wait! I see that glow Shan, are you pregnant?” he teased.
“Hush, Wade, I haven’t told Tony yet!” she pulled him further into the house and peers out to the garage making sure her husband hadn’t heard. “Now what’s with the suit what happened to you being comfortable around me?” she motions with her hand.
“Listen here, lady! No one tells me when I can and can’t wear my suit!” he exclaimed.
“You done with the tantrum?”
“Uh… no, but anyways how’s it been?” He leaned in closer. “Besides the bun in the oven?”
“Haha funny, it’s been going good with my life but that’s the reason I called you.” She headed towards the  living room and he followed. “Everything is going good but one part. My best friend, well more like sister, has gone off the radar and I haven’t for the life of me been able to find her and at this point I need someone like to be able to go out and bring her back for me. Considering--” she points down at her belly. “--once I tell Tony he’ll definitely be against me going out to look for her.”
“And what would I get out of it?” He got serious when he heard the reason why. “Normally there’s a contract that gets written up and a price given but since it’s you, Shannon, I’m going to work something different out.”
He sat there for a moment just thinking of what he could potentially get from them. He didn’t really need much. Until a lightbulb lit up since becoming Deadpool he knew his chances of having children were down to zero and with his friend being pregnant he’d like to be in the kid’s life somehow. “Alright so here’s how it’s going to go. I’ll do you this favor in exchange for two things.” He held up two fingers.
“Just two things?” she repeated. “And what exactly are those two things?”
“Great question!” He got giddy. “First, I’d like to be part of that kid’s life.” He pointed to her stomach. “And second, I’d like unlimited chimichangas and not the crappy kind, you guys got the money for the good stuff.”
“Okay first of all why the heck would you want to be part of MY child’s life? And second, okay we can do the chimichangas.” She shook her head.
“Well ever since I became DP I came to realize that I will never get the chance to have my own kids you know?” His voice lowered towards the end but it was enough for her to hear.
Knowing the reason behind asking such a thing pulled at her heartstrings because she knew what it’s like, knowing that there was a chance she could never be a mom. Granted, Peter Parker was hers biologically but was done through surrogacy.
“Okay, Wade, I know what it’s like to be in that position. You can be their god father, okay? And occasional babysitter, how’s that?” She hoped she could complete part of his life like this miracle baby had done for her. “So it’s a deal then, when can you start?”
“We can go over the specifics later, for now just enjoy this moment and let me know if you need help planning the reveal to the hubby.” He leaned closer to her.
“Of course, Wade, thank you.” she leaned her head on his. “You have no idea how much this means to me.”
From then on it had been Wade being around constantly and getting on Tony’s nerves but he knew why and it broke his heart to see his wife like that. Between all of that they all got to see how the wonders of Shannon became a mother to their daughter Morgan. Then during their fifth year since the snap, she had gotten serious with Bruce as well and even though she couldn’t marry him through the church, she figured she could at some point later on. They did agree on having a child, so she gave it a shot with Bruce. They had gotten more than they could have asked for, not only was she pregnant again, but this time with twins. It equaled out to two children with Bruce and two with Tony.
-----------------------------------------
One Year Later…
After three months all over the world, you’d seen and done everything you could possibly think of, with Remy right by your side. Part of you felt guilty, having him there. The other part was so thankful that you weren’t going through this alone.
When you finished, you had no idea where to go, no direction. When the snap happened, a small part of you hoped there was a way to find Thanos and bring everyone back. When that hope died out with Thanos, you could go see the world in Loki’s honor. Then, when that finished, you had nothing left. You still couldn’t return to New York. You weren’t in any mindset to be around Shannon and everyone else.
“Well, that’s it,” you said with finality as you looked down at your phone, checking the list. “We’ve done everything.”
Remy smiled down at you. “Wow. Time flies, right? What next?”
“I have absolutely no idea,” you admitted as you stood, staring out over a river. “I’ve never felt this way before… Directionless. Even when I was in prison, there was a plan. Hopefully one day to get out, but even then I knew at least I’d be in prison the next day. But as of this moment, I don’t know what I’ll do in twenty seconds. It’s a bit unnerving for me.”
“What do you say we… well… settled down?” he asked carefully.
Your face whipped to him, surprised. “Settle down? What do you mean?”
“Well I don’t imagine you wanna keep jumping from country to country,” he surmised, putting his elbows on the railing.
“No, I don’t,” you agreed slowly.
“Then I suggest we take this somewhere permanently. Maybe… start to rebuild our lives. We’ve lived in the past, maybe it’s time we start looking at the future.”
“I don’t know…” you started, looking down and shaking your head.
“What’s got you hesitatin’, cheri?” he wondered, standing to put a finger under your chin to force you to look at him.
You sighed. “I’m not sure I know how to move on.”
“I’m not asking you to move forward, or to forget him, or forget anyone. All I’m saying is to make it easier on both of us. I know I’m a hell of a lot happier when I’m around you, and despite your initial complaints I think you like my company.”
You nodded.
“So maybe...we find us a place, and start to live again. It might be easier to focus on healing if we aren’t acting as if we’re on the run.”
You sighed in agreement. “You’re right… but where would we go? If we stay in one place too long, Shannon will find me.”
“Maybe,” he said with a shrug. “Maybe not. How about we go home? Maybe she’s already looked there.”
“Home? Like…” you asked, prompting him with a questioning look.
“Like New Orleans, darlin’.”
And that was how he easily convinced you to follow him. The two of you found a house slightly out of the way in New Orleans. It wasn’t in the country, but it was private enough that you weren’t in a neighborhood with prying neighbors.
Remy picked up a job as a bartender, and when he wasn’t tending to the drinks, he was playing cards for money. As for you, you found a job in healing. You worked with a mobile clinic that went to a rather large area due to the snap, the patients were widely spread out. It was nice, to give back, to help heal people, when you’d caused so much heartache. Your job was to use your electrical powers to keep equipment from failing. Sometimes you were at the hospital, other times you joined nurses on the road. It was an odd interview, but these were trying times and they didn’t turn their noses up at your request.
If you weren’t working, the two of you were building a home together. The two of you had found pieces of art you loved, began to buy dish sets, furniture. You didn’t have too many momentos, either one of you to go through, but it made it nice. None of it was anything you had to be reminded of, to try and hold back some form of grief. You two painted every room in the house you’d bought. You’d hand selected wallpaper, paint, decor, everything. You weren’t sure if you were doing it as a distraction or what -- but it felt like life was starting again. You two even cooked together most nights, trying out recipes on each other.
Now, it’d been a year since the snap. No word to or from Shannon, but you were sure she was doing fine. Remy had called Logan a couple of times to check on the mansion, but no new students had shown up. Despite missing the vanished and those you left behind in New York, this was as close to happy as you could get.
-----------------------------
One night, you stopped in at the bar Remy worked at, to help him close up.
“Hey, there,” he greeted with a wide grin. “What can I getcha?”
“Just a coke,” you answered. “How’s business been?”
He worked on getting you your drink as he answered, “Kinda slow. But that gave me a chance to do this new trick.”
“Oh? Can I see?” you asked somewhat excited. Remy’s tricks were always something you loved, even as kids. It was a way to be entertained, to make you forget about the other ugliness in the world, and you supposed he was doing that again this time around.
“Sure thing. Let me get it set up.” He reached under the bar for a second, making you curious. ”Alright, so I’ll draw ‘em in like this,” he explained as he leaned over, looking handsome.
You nodded. “Mhm.”
“Then, I’ll do a little ol’ razzle dazzle with the hands,” he continued slowly as he made meaningless motions in the air before making his fingers dance around a space on the bar. “And abracadabra, alakazam…”
Then as if it materialized in thin air, there was a red velvet box on the bar and your heart began pounding.
“Now you may be wonderin’ what’s inside that there box. I’ll show ya.” He opened the box before glancing up at you with a grin. Inside the box was a stunning, unique ring. ”Y/N, will you do me the great honor of--”
Thought escaped you though. The sight of that box. Remy’s words. They catapulted you to that day on the battlefield with Loki. Every emotion of grief and loss slammed into you, taking breath and thought with it. All you could do was grab Remy by the edges of his silk vest and kiss him to get him to stop talking.
You couldn’t hear another man say those words to you. It felt so wrong. So utterly wrong.
You hadn’t kissed Remy once or even done anything remotely romantic together. In all reality, you were just two roommates. You did everything together, you lived together, had outings together, but you never kissed, held hands, slept in the same bed… Nothing was romantic between you two.
Remy sank into the kiss easily before you let him go. You couldn’t hide the tears streaking down your face but you did your best to hide the thickness of your voice.
“I think maybe… maybe we should take things slow, at first, you know?” you offered easily. You didn’t want to lose Remy, he’s all you had. But you couldn’t give him what he wanted.
“You mean like, actually courtin’ each other?”
“Precisely,” you agreed with a nod and smile. “Then we can talk marriage. What do you say?”
“I say that sounds like a plan,” he responded before leaning over to kiss you again, slower and more tenderly.
---------------------------------
So life went on like normal, for another year, the only change was the romance. It seemed a small price to pay to not have to hear another marriage proposal or pledge your commitment to him. It wasn’t that there was anything wrong with Remy. It just felt like a betrayal of every level to promise yourself to Remy when Loki didn’t get that chance.
To an outsider, this was domestic bliss. You two looked, seemed, and acted happy. You tried to be anyway. But every day was a battle. Even after two years, he was the first thing you thought of when you woke up and the last thing you thought about before you drifted off.
Remy was patient and kind. He never tried to erase Loki’s memory. Never mentioned putting his pictures away, or tried to quiet you when you brought him up. He understood how much he meant to you and he didn’t want to ruin that.
But on the inside, you were hollow and empty. Remy and your life provided excellent distractions. You loved helping those in need, and you loved having your friend around. He kept the majority of the darkness at bay.
You couldn’t hide it anymore though. This cookie cutter life wasn’t cutting it. Not anymore. You had so much sorrow and anger pent up in you. No closure, no answers… you still blamed yourself for the snap, for not killing Thanos properly. You still wanted Loki back. You missed Shannon and the Avengers but you couldn’t be around them. Ultimately, you were living a lie with Remy. He thought you were moving on, falling in love with him, letting it all go, but you weren’t. You were just as broken as the day Loki vanished. No part of you had healed or moved on in any way.
He didn’t deserve this.
So you packed your things, not leaving a note, about to head out the door in the middle of the night before his voice stopped you
“Where ya goin’?” he asked.
Damn, you mentally hissed. You didn’t want him to see you leave.
Your hand was already on the door knob. “I’m leaving. I think it’s best...for both of us.”
“Well thank you for makin’ my decisions for me,” he sarcastically said as he sauntered up behind you.
“You know what I mean. You deserve someone who isn’t broken like I am. Someone who can give you their whole heart.”
He moved himself to be in front of you, cupping his hands on your face. “Chere, I never asked for your whole heart. I don’t expect it. I just wanna be here for you. I love you and I want to see you happy. I don’t wanna be with you so that you can love me back. Ideally, sure, but realistically…” He let the idea hang in the air. “I just wanna to be with you, is all. Now where were you plannin’ on goin?”
“I’ve got a talent for making others hurt, I was gonna put that talent to use. To be honest, I have a lot of pent up rage I’d like to get out of me.”
“I see,” he said with a bit of sorrow.
“I don’t want you to see me like that, either.”
“I told you years ago I found you to help protect you and keep you safe, now whether that’s from yourself or others you plan on going after, I still believe it,” he vowed. “I’m comin’ with you.”
“Why?” you breathed, confused.
“Because I love you, and I want to be with you, whether we’re baking cookies together for Christmas or off doing whatever it is you’re about to do. I’m with you -- always.”
You smiled at him, sadness filling the expression. “I can’t stop you. If you want to come… We'll go.”
‘Alright. Give me some time to pack, and we’ll go.”
Roughly an hour later, Remy was ready to leave with you. Something in you told you he shouldn’t come with you, whether it was for his safety or so he didn’t see what you were about to turn in to, you weren’t sure. But the bigger, more selfish part of you allowed him to come.

Recap of EIL3 under the cut :)
Skam OG
Skam Italia
Skam France
Skam France/Italia/(OG)
The opening ceremony gave the tone for the day, aka starting late but with a lot of chaotic, happy-to-be-here energy with a member of each cast saying a couple of words of gratitude.
I was whisked away to the autographs with the OG skam cast just after. It was pretty great because it was the beginning of the day so everyone was still very chill. I first got to talk with Simo and Adam. and I thanked Simo for coming to the screening the other day, I asked if it was not too uncomfortable for him not being able to understand everything that was going on and I apologised that we didn't have a translator but he was very very happy to be here, some people were translating for him anyway, he said he really enjoyed the energy that we were giving off and for welcoming him with such a warm welcome. He actually loves Paris, he’s been here a few times, he was here 2 weeks ago then went back to Oslo then came back for the convention, he really loves it here :’) Then I went to Adam, who told me his whole life story azertghjk like how he had slept the night before, what he ate, everything it was so funny. Thomas was extremely chill, he took his time with everyone, really talking with us, he said he didn't have a lot of sleep either the night before because he was really excited. it's not the first time he’s doing the convention and he had loved it the last time but this time it was even better because Josefine was there with him.
Just as I was going up to Ulrikke, the staff came to tell me I had to leave and do my duo photoshoot with Maxence and Axel. I knew it had started already because I could hear them being their chaotic self a room over. When I got to the room, the energy was indeed through the roof. The trio Leo/Robin/Paul was happening at the same time and Axel kept going over to them to photobomb them, like every time one of them would shout in the room CHECK DE GANG, he would leave the photoshoot with Maxence and go with the guys, it was a mess but he was unstoppable. I know the bodyguard (I’ve been to other cons before and he handles the security on all of them), I was talking with him while queueing and he said that he didn’t know if Axel was either the best or worst person he had had to deal with. He was this close to strangle him or put a leash on him azerfghj. The girl before me didn't have any idea what kind of pose she wanted to do, and Maxence said “wait, is it my turn then?” to Axel, and just like that did a headstand like actually on his head not even on his hands, on his HEAD, what even azedfghjkl then it was my turn, they asked if I had already done other things already. I told them I had been doing my autographs with OG and Axel went “oh that’s AWESOME” and then to Maxence “wait who is OG, have we met him?”  and Maxence looked at him all fondly like he was the dumbest person on earth “OG as in originaleuuuuh”, I burst out laughing at Axel’s face. Anyway, I told them I loved their shirts, you must have seen them, they were wearing the ones with half a rainbow heart on each, Maxence explained it was designed by a friend of his :’) we took our picture, I got a hug, they squished me so hard, and then I went back to finish my autographs with OG Skam.
Josefine was the sweetest, I didn't know what to say to her just that I was really really grateful that she was here and her nails were amazing (GREAT CONVERSATION GAELLE HERE, WOW) but she actually lit up because they change colour depending on whether it's hot or cold, she was really excited about it, she threw her arms up over her head and shouted “SCIENCE!!!”. I didn't want to hold up the line for nothing so I went to Ulrikke. I thanked her for pouring out so much positivity, about bodies, genders, feminism ect on social media, it really makes a difference to me, and she said that she actually needs to do it for herself before doing it for anybody else because she needs to hear the words, she needs to think positively, she needs to give back, and publishing her thoughts actually helps her a lot, and getting positive feedback is a very appreciated bonus.
The Skam France panel was supposed to start then but let me tell you, it was not happening. I was not in the same room as the guys when I was doing the autographs with OG but I could still hear them screaming their heads off and cheering and chanting that damn oui-oui song, they were being so fucking chaotic so of course they were running very late.
I had to wait around a bit and I was annoyed because I completely missed the Skam Italia panel that was happening during my autographs and shoots. I also missed the beginning of the Skam France panel when it finally started because I was sent to do my autographs with the Skam Italia cast.
I tried to speak my best Italian, I was a bit rusty, but they were so kind anyway. Bea actually knew the town my family is from in Sicily, I thanked her for her portrayal of Sana because I can’t begin to imagine the impact a character like her could have in my tiny Sicilian village. Rocco was very sweet and focused on what you’re telling him, he didn’t even glance at my notebook at first, I told him that his character is always such an important character to me personally in every remake but I especially enjoyed the Skam Italia portrayal because it was the first one, there must have been a lot of pressure and expectations but he nailed it. He said if he could help even one person, that would be enough for him, it was important to him too, he’s hoping he could continue portraying this kind of characters. I was supposed to take selfies with the actors as well but I hate pictures (photoshoots are okay because it’s a more ~professional setting) but he insisted like “why, why don't you want to?” I was just “I'm way more comfortable behind a camera than in front of it, nothing against you, so sorry”, for real I felt so bad, but Bea heard us talking and she said “don't push her if she doesn't want a picture” and he apologized, which made me feel worse azerfghjk I was like dude you're fine don't worry, thank you, ciao.
After that I had  to wait a while for the next thing to happen because they were so so late that's when I got to meet some of you and I'm very very very happy to have met you, thanks for the love you gave me, for giving me a hug :’)
Then I went to my duo photoshoot with Assa and Lais, they were so sweet and kind but I couldn't say much to them, we had to hurry because we were running so late and we were supposed to be doing the Skam France panel already. It should have had started over an hour before. Assa and Lais left quickly after and started the panel with the others while Maxence was busy doing his duo shoot with Rocco.  I had to miss the beginning  because I was queuing for that. When it was my turn, Rocco said “this one speaks Italian!” and Maxence said “no, I know her, she speaks French” and my brain completely froze because I was not expecting them to remember me at all so I went “I speak both” in ENGLISH azerfghjkl i’m a dumbass but they laughed so it’s fine i guess
I went back running to the main room for the Skam France panel, I had missed 25 minutes already but you can thank Manon for filming what I had missed. The whole panel is on my YouTube channel so I won't repeat everything that was said here, I will be translating it but please give me time, it's a very long and very tedious process so please be patient with me, it might take me a few days, sorry about that.
I just want to point out, and I've said it before because it’s so obvious every time I see them together, I want to say that the friendship between Axel and Maxence is so beautiful to see in person. I think you all saw the videos but when Maxence got there after his duo photoshoot with Rocco, he just went straight to Axel and sat down at his feet, Axel was rubbing his shoulders and being very supportive. I think the day was a bit hard on Maxence, I’ll talk about it more later but he was stressed out, very happy sure, but you could see he was a bit overwhelmed. While he was in the photoshoots with Axel or Rocco it was fine, when he was with Coline it was fine, during the panel with the others it was fine, but when he was by himself you could see he was a bit anxious.
The staff really did their best to not lose more time, as in stop the cast from taking questions once they were out of time. we were supposed to have been eating  lunch already over an hour and a half earlier but Axel just flat out refused. He got up, took the mic for himself, went to the line of fans who were waiting for their questions and said “don't worry I’ll do the translation myself, be quick, be quick but we're doing everyone's questions, as long as there are people in the queue then we are not stopping and we will eat later.”  just my input here but I think he needs to learn to stop. He wants to do good, but he is going to exhaust himself. The rest of the cast didn't complain either.
Then we were able to eat very quickly. The afternoon started with the Skam France groupe photoshoot. At first they were doing crazy poses, they were being their chaotic selves, they were impossible to manage but the staff had to be a bit strict and tell them to stop, no pose, no moving around just stay where you are and let the fan go in the middle of all of you because otherwise we would lose way too much time again. Everyone was getting between Maxence and Axel and I could see the girls who were sitting on the floor were starting to get tired, I think, so when it was my turn, I went “I want the girls, I want the girls, sorry guys” and I knelt in the middle of them, they looked so happy like Marilyn and Anne Sophie cheered so loud, Zoe went “ahAH SUCK IT” while Axel behind me pretended to be upset but I don't regret it for one second ahah.
I then did all the solo photoshoots with all the cast from OG and the OG group picture, and a duo with Ulrikke and Josefine, so that took me a while even if I tried to be as fast as possible.
In the afternoon I had a meeting with Josefine but since we were late the staff decided to do a group meeting with Josefine and Thomas instead of two separate ones, so I ended up having also a meeting with Thomas that I didn't pay for. The more the merrier I guess but still a bit meh for them (I mean they seemed happy to be together but still, especially since the staff came to pick me up in the middle of it to do my group photoshoot with the Skam Italia cast - Bea went “ahhhh la mezza italiana!!” when she saw me, cute cute cute).
The meet and greet with Josefine and Tomas was pretty sweet. Thomas’s mum called in the middle of it and we talked with her, it was funny. They were asked very interesting questions such as what is on their bucket list. Thomas said he wanted to learn to be a plane pilot and Josefine said “no you don't you're gonna DIE”. Josefine said she didn't really have a bucket list because she was really trying to live in the present and not spend her life looking forward to something because otherwise she wouldn't appreciate the present to the fullest and we got into talking about the minute by minute concept and the “life is now” line in OG, it was very inspirational. somebody also asked about how they were cast and I don't know if the story had been told before, I hadn't heard it, but basically they were both told separately that the person they were doing the casting with was in love with them and they had to tell them that they didn't feel the same way and let them down gently. It ended up being an hour long very awkward moment, they remember it fondly though. They both have projects coming up but Thomas  cannot say anything about it at all, we cannot even know if it's a movie or video clip or music or theatre, nothing. Josefine has a movie coming out in theatres in a few months and she is very excited and weird out about it because it's her face on the big screen and she's not sure she's ready for that. Josefine was cold so Thomas gave her his jacket, she was swimming in it. They were both very grateful the other was there, it actually what made them decide to come to the convention. When they learned that the other had been invited, they called each other and said “are you going? if you're going then I'm going.” Josefine was also asked how she had been approached about the storyline in season 2. Julie met with her to talk about the sexual harassment storyline beforehand, even before actually writing it, because she wanted to make sure Josefine was comfortable playing something like that but Josefine was really on board with it because it's such an important topic that is not discussed or shown on TV enough.
I got to see the panel with Josefine and Thomas but I missed the one with Ulrikke, Adam and Simo but I gave the camera to my friends Manon and Louise so it's on YouTube thank you friends!
We then started the autographs with the whole Skam France cast and that was a mess, that was the biggest mess, I think because Dream It oversold the passes and there were way too many people queuing. It was getting late, it was already 6:30 when that's when the conventions should have ended,  the cast was tired but also the fans were tired and cranky and some of them had panic attacks because they were anxious they wouldn't get their autographs before they had to leave to get a train home for exemple. I started with Assa, then Laïs, then Moussa, then Leo. The notebook I get all my autographs in is just a pretty paper blank notebook in which I write all my favourite quotes, inspirational lines from shows or songs or poems and Leo went through it and was like “oh I've got a nice one” and wrote and I quote “Gaëlle, the best revolution is to make love”  and then said please “don't #BalanceTonPorc me” (the French equivalent of #MeToo) well alright then I guess azerfghjkl.
We then had to leave the autographs because the closing ceremony was about to start, since the other actors from Italia and OG were done for the day.  the closing ceremony was emotional because that's when everyone thanks everyone and cries, especially since so much money was raised for organisations like SOS Homophobie, SOS Autisme, project Rescue Ocean, another association for deaf people that I unfortunately didn’t get the name of and the gay centre in Italy.  in total €18,000 was raised. the heads of the organisations were there to receive the checks, it was really emotional, Marilyn was asked to be the godmother of the rescue ocean project branch in Paris and she cried so Coline and Anne Sophie cried too, Maxence was crying too, some fans had raised money by themselves and got on stage too to make a little speech and he hugged them so tight, he was really touched and so were they. Dream It convention thanked everyone for coming especially the OG cast because without them there wouldn't be anything, Skam was their first convention and it will always have a special place in their hearts. Then they announced that there would be a fourth edition of the Everything Is Love convention but it will be over 2 days, thank God. that's when What Makes You Beautiful started blasting through the speakers and everyone lost it, everyone was hugging each other and dancing and singing and taking pictures and videos, I think you all saw the videos by now, it was such a glorious mess, and I lost all sense of composure. it looked like the Skam France cast was the only one with energy still left though.
That should have been the end of the convention, we were so late, it was I think around 7pm by then but the Skam France cast and the fans who had the proper pass all had to go back to the autographs. And I think that's when it got too much for real. I know we paid for it and I know the cast doesn't want to disappoint us but that should have been the end of it. We stayed for autographs and the selfies but it was so disorganized, people kept cutting the queues, a lot of girls - mainly not French, gotta admit - were not respecting the rules and I don’t know if they just didn’t care or if they had not understood the translation but they had zero respect for others :( some people would monopolize the cast for so long and were slowing everything down, and I know you want to talk with them, I know it might be your only chance because you came from across the world but please be respectful of the people around you and of the cast. Leo had to leave because he couldn't take it anymore, he had a headache. I’m thinking of Assa who was graceful until the end, and who had been fasting all day. I think I saw Lais drink something at some point but Assa didn't drink or eat anything all day, I saw her drink for the first time when it was already after 9.
I went through my autographs as quickly as I could, I didn't ask for selfies at all. Lula was even upset about it because she recognised me, she said something like “oh thank you for the beautiful pictures, do you want a selfie?” and I repeated I don't like selfies and she tried to convince me I was pretty lmao.
I thanked Robin for raising money for the deaf and HOH community because I’ve got a couple deaf friends and I can see how they struggle sometimes. He said one of his best friends as a kid was deaf and he remembers how he got bullied, and he himself got bullied because he skipped two classes, he was younger and shorter and smarter than everyone so he knows what it feels like to be isolated and he wants to help.
Coline has music projects coming up which is exciting. Marilyn was still crying when I got to her so I couldn't talk with her or else I would have cried too and Coline next to her was ready to burst too.
I said to Maxence that I was really excited for the House of Gaunt short film to come out and that I loved being an extra on set for the day and his head snapped up to me “oh my god I'm so sorry I hadn’t recognised you” and I just went “azerfghjk dude stop apologizing, I’m not remarkable”, he got angry I would say that, gave me a hug and scolded me, what a sweetheart :’) Someone had given him a Slytherin scarf, a wand and a hood (I think they gave a Griffyndor scarf to Axel too) earlier and we joked about how frustrating it is that we can’t talk about his actual Voldemort costume.
Axel was the last one I got to talk to because there were so many people for him, it was insane. I didn't catch what he was saying to the girl before me, what they were talking about, but I heard him shout “WELL AN ASSHOLE IS NEVER GOING TO TURN INTO A VAGINA NOW IS IT”  and then he went on a rant about how some straight guys would want to have anal sex with their girlfriend but God forbid two guys have anal sex together, which, you know what, that’s very true and a very blunt Axel thing to say.
After that I was done so I waited around for my friends to be done too and I just observed everything that was happening. Coline had to leave because she had a dance lesson at 10 p.m., can you believe she had a dance lesson after such a long day??  Maxence was very jumpy, he kept going outside (with Lula sometimes) to smoke, you could see by the end of the evening he was stressed out. He even sat on the table crossed legged because he couldn't sit on the chair properly anymore. But he would still hug and listen to everyone.  Axel’s voice was fucked completely again but he didn’t seem to care. The staff of the Dream It convention and of the hotel kept pressing them and the fans because it was 9:30 and the hotel should have been closed already but Axel, Maxence, Lula, Robin and Paul wouldn’t leave as long as fans were still there.
I left around 9:40pm, I was fine if only tired, but I genuinely don’t know how the cast was still standing. I really hope they are better organized next time, it’s already a good thing they will be doing the next convention over two days instead of just one because that was too much. I had an amazing time and I would do it all over again, and it seems the cast feels the same (I apologized to all of them for how late it was during autographs but they wouldn’t hear it) but still. More time, less people, would have been way easier to manage.

✧I Need You✧ Chapter 49
Yet again, SHIELD was asking you to abandon your current life to go do work for them. Except this time it seemed serious- ...had every time been serious? Were you just chafed by Fury’s previous behavior, and so took the rest of their needs less seriously? Something to ruminate on later. Your attention needed to stay forefront on what was being asked of you. But before you could entertain that, you had to call Pepper.
It was easy to see now why Tony had wanted to back out of the company. Leave it to you. This superhero stuff really just took up too much time. Could come in at any moment and ask anything of you… but to let it would be to give yourself away. Another reason you hadn’t wanted Tony to do that. You didn’t want him to get lost in all of this. And it seemed so easy to do.
“I have to go away for a little while.”
“Again? I’m guessing you’re not gonna tell me why this time, either.”
How could you? You remembered your entirely visceral reaction to seeing what Tony had been up to- but that had been led on by feeling like you’d been betrayed. Still, the longer you kept this away from Pepper, it may as well have been betraying her. Lying to her.
But how on earth could you even begin to tell her what you’d been up to? It made you realize how used to nonsense you’d gotten. Sure the world knew about Iron Man. But what about … whatever you were calling yourself- Lady? You just couldn’t put it into words. Not believable ones, anyway. “I’ll… Pep, this time, I promise. Once I’m done we’ll sit down and have a long talk.”
“It’s about the Iron Man stuff, isn’t it?” She was just too smart.
You sighed. “A little, yeah. Just. Give me some time. Set up some pressers for the Stark Tower powering up. Everything went great, by the way, thanks for asking.” Unable to help your small bit of sass. “And start putting together a party- for Tony’s birthday we’ll do a big thing at the tower. Big celeb invite. All the good stuff-” Before you could get more of your list out to her, your phone beeped. “I have another call, I-” And, tilting the phone away, you saw who it was and your mood dove again. “I have to go. I’ll talk soon.” Not giving her a chance to ask anything else. Sorry, that it had to be that way, too.
Going over to the other line you were barely able to get a hello out before Steve’s voice greeted you. “They pulling you into this, too?”
Your lips pressed together. “How’d you know?” “I saw your file.”
So that was that, then. You’d wondered who else was going to see. It made sense, if this was your makeshift team. Everyone got what you and Tony got. Probably. And so you’d been laid bare to at least three other strangers. If not more. Who could even say? You didn’t like that SHIELD had a file on you, after you’d worked so hard to get rid of it. But you suspected this was of a more recent taste. “Do you know exactly what this is?”
“I’m starting to. You watch the videos? This Loki guy. He seems very dangerous.”
Nodding to yourself, “Yeah. I guess that’s why they need us, right?” All you could do was hold on to a small glimmer of hope that all of this would work out. You’d taken real time to look at the video of the attack at the SHIELD base where the Tesseract had been held.
How he’d stormed in through that portal. Attacked everyone there- trained agents. Bent them to his will…
If SHIELD wanted you to go up against this guy because of that…?
“Yeah. They give you coordinates yet?”
You flipped through a few more files, just letting double screens play footage of Captain America and the Loki attack side by side. “No. Coulson said he’d get back to me on next steps.”
“...you know this Coulson guy?” Something in his voice changed.
“Yeah. Why? ...I think I’ve heard through the grapevine that he’s kind of a big fan of yours.”
“No kidding.” Was that sarcasm you detected in Steve’s voice?
It prompted a smile. “He’s a good guy.”
“Didn’t say he wasn’t.”
For one reason or another you couldn’t help a giggle. It drew Tony’s attention, where he’d been furiously typing on two separate tabletops. But the thought of Coulson pestering Steve was just… it was a funny thing. “Be nice to him. Sign whatever he wants.”
A breathy laugh came from the other side of the phone. “Oh. Is that how it is? You the leader of this operation?”
“God, no. But. In this instance, sure.”
“In that case, I’ll do my best.”
“Your best is enough.” When you lifted your eyes you saw Tony’s quickly dropping his back to his work. “I have to go. I imagine we’ll see each other soon.”
“Yeah. Me, too. Bye.” Either he quickly got the hint or he really had something he needed to attend to, probably both true in this instance. But it allowed you to hang up the phone and put it down.
This was all very bad. If SHIELD was sending you in on a mission together- Tony, Steve, you… sure Tony had crafted a helmet for you that would hide your identity. You know- much like it hid his. There was no chance in hell this ended up in your favor. You just never had put thought into that SHIELD would ask the Avengers to be a real thing. To do a real mission. Part of you had hoped it would just always be you and Tony cleaning up messes you could actually clean up.
But now…
What happened if someone with a camera saw Captain America, Steve Rogers, alongside Iron Man, Tony Stark, and a mysterious Lady? There was no way you’d be able to talk yourself out of that one. Now you kind of wished you’d made Tony stick to SHIELD’s alibi. But it was far too late for that now. It also made Tony too right, that you should stay behind.
Getting up from the couch you went to the desk, moving behind him to wrap your arms around his shoulders and lay your head atop his. His hands kept moving. Typing, researching, learning things that were millions of years beyond you. “You should get some sleep.”
“You’ll leave without me.”
He huffed out a laugh. “You know me too well.” Unplugging a cable in one of the Heart Reactor’s ports, he handed it up to you. “Here.”
“Finished?” You weren’t exactly sure what he’d been up to, but whatever it was, you knew it was important. More security measures. More anything. Tony knew what he was doing. You did not.
“For now. Put it on. And… don’t take it off until we’re debriefed. Promise me.”
Until this is over, he was saying. Until the both of you were sure things were safe.
“I promise, Tony.” Shifting back, you unzipped your hoodie again to stick it on your shirt underneath. One day you might seriously consider just sticking it right on your skin. Maybe this mission would push you to do so…
Leaning half away from his computers, typing ceased, he cast a look up your way. “Seriously.” A little comforting slide of his hand up your leg, a pat at your hip. “Go lie down. Sleep for a little while. I won’t leave.”
Sleep was probably impossible. Your stomach was in knots, your chest tight with anxiousness. There was no telling what tomorrow would bring. Something terrifying. Something dangerous. But for his sake… “You, too, okay?” You knew he was doing research on that cube thing, that Doctor Selvig, Loki- probably everyone else, too. Stuff that he needed to know. Stuff that would help him- and you, too, to be safe. Hopefully to end this soon.
“In a few hours. Sure.” The both of you knowing he was lying, but accepting it anyway. This was what always happened. He’d run ragged to make things right again, even if this time it wasn’t exactly his fault.
Bending in you kissed him carefully. Softly. Lingering until he broke back and gave you another light pat to the side, sending you off to the couch. You could go to the personal suite just a door down. The entire real reason this tower had been built in the first place. But you didn’t want to be away from him. Not because you didn’t trust he’d stick to his word and wake you when the time came but… you just couldn’t bear the thought of being away while he was still working. Especially not on the eve of something so terrible…
                                           -------------------------------
Sleep didn’t come. You were too overwhelmed with thought. Eyes closed, you replayed that footage over and over in your head. How easily Loki had compromised Clint with that weapon- that stick. That’s why they wanted you, you were sure. They wanted you to reverse that- but you didn’t deal in mind control. Not really, anyway. It’s not what you’d practiced. Could you even do something like that? What would happen if it went wrong?
And Loki… SHIELD’s files would have you believe he was some sort of alien. Some kind of god. He looked human enough. Even if he looked like he had stumbled out of a convention center. Thor, too. Alien. God? From some planet far away called Asgard. Brothers, the two of them. And if any of this was true, it seemed that their rivalry was wreaking havoc on earth. But what for? Why? What did earth have to do with them aside Thor’s short stay here a year back?
What did any of it have to do with you? With Tony? What happened if Loki took Tony? Or worse…
“Hey...” You had only just barely dozed off but the sound of Tony’s voice pricked your awareness, and you blinked your eyes open. He was standing over, with a finger up, phone in his hand.
Holding it out, Fury’s voice came over speaker. “You’ve got no time to waste. Loki’s camp has been spotted lurking around Stuttgart, Germany. We’re sending in Cap and Black Widow, but they’ll need backup. Lots of civilians. We need a very nice and neat containment. Get on it. Direct coordinates to follow.”
The phone triple beeped, signaling Fury just hanging up on the both of you. You sat up slowly, rubbing at your eyes. “Did you sleep at all?”
Civilians. He was attacking civilians in Germany? But why? This was bad. Even worse for you- but no time to consider it. This wasn’t about you. It was only about what you could do. And if you sat by and did nothing…
“If it makes you feel better. Come on. I think we have time to stop for coffee.” Smiling at you lightly, but the light died almost immediately as he helped you to your feet. “Offer to stay home still stands.”
Because you were risking everything to go. You both knew that.
“And let you have all the fun?”
The both of you aimed weak, fake smiles at each other.
Hopefully this would be over soon. Quick. Painless. All you had to do was go there, stop him, and cuff him. Right? Pick apart his camp. Rescue Clint, Selvig, the other agents under Loki’s control…
But this was too obvious. A thought you and Tony shared immediately after suiting up and taking off from the tower. It was early, only five AM yet, so you weren’t worried about paparazzi snapping pics of the two suits leaving- not that it mattered. This was where the road of invisibility ended for you. You were very sure of it. But that was the path you were choosing. Maybe it always had been.
“There’s a lot they’re not telling us.”
“SHIELD is withholding information? Color me shocked.” Unable to help yourself. Of course they weren’t giving you the full story. That was practically their entire motive at this point. Only dropping enough information to get people to act in their best interests.
“Yeah. Well, I don’t like it. And when we pick up at this helicarrier of theirs, I’m gonna look into everything they’re hiding.”
“A mistake, inviting you into their house.” While you maybe should have had more reservations about Tony snooping, probably getting the both of you in trouble, it was probably for the best. Not to mention you trusted him more than you did them.
“Always. They never learn. But we will.”
The both of you put the pedal to the metal, double boosting your way through the skies. The flight to Germany couldn’t take any longer than it needed to. With the coordinates dropped in both your HUDs, it was easy to see where Loki was, but not easy to understand why he was going there.
A gala of all things. Probably the worst option for you. One you might have attended any number of years back. All fancy rich people walking around- what was the play here? Terrorize the upper class? He had to be after something. But what?
“Romanoff and the old man are ahead of us. Fury has that little faith in them?” Tony pointing out another equally confusing fact.
Nat being there made sense. You knew she was very close with Clint. With him pinned down like this, it couldn’t have been easy. There was likely no length she wouldn’t go to to get him back. But the two of them there, and Fury still calling the both of you? “Worst time to assemble a team for the first time.” Under fire.
“You get what I’m trying to say, right? They’re planning on using you.”
Eyes moving up, you arched a brow at his video window to your upper left. “They’re planning on using all of us. What’s the difference?”
He made a face right back at you. “I have weapons. You are a weapon- to them. Him. You up for that? He’s probably counting on you being an interrogation machine. Not to mention an un-brainwashing station.”
“So you’re saying I shouldn’t do his dirty laundry for him?”
Tony grinned, albeit brief. “You won’t even do mine. Why’s he get special treatment?”
“You’re a grown man.”
“And he’s a grown secret agency director. I’m just making sure we’re on the same team on this team. I’ll put a stop to anything you ask me to. But you gotta ask.”
He was trying to put security protocols up for you before things got too messy. You appreciated his foresight greatly, not to mention how much he cared for you to be having this conversation. A sigh escaped you as day turned back into night across another border. “If that’s all I’m good for, then I have to do what I can to do my part.”
“But it’s not.” Quick to smother that thought. “That might be why Fury picked you up- why he wants you here. But that doesn’t mean you have to jump when he says to.”
Funny, that he’d bring that up, considering your talk with Cap a while back…
Beneath you cars were zooming down the street, and the two of you broke the cloudline to lower in. Civilians were screaming. Running. LUNA spoke up, “We’re approaching the drop zone. SHIELD Quinjet one mile away.”
Tony found it in himself to grin again. “JARVIS, give me their PA. We should be able to have some fun.” Atop your line of sight you saw, Quinjet PA System Override. Patched through communications. “Agent Romanoff, you miss us?” Shoot to Thrill started playing over everyone’s speakers.
Just as the two of you twisted around a building, you followed suit, “We thought you could use some help.”
“Alright honey, let’s sweep him right off his feet.”
Target locked on Loki, looking even more ridiculous in what seemed to be a helmet with a pair of golden antlers- and seemed to be having a fight with Cap- ...who was in full costume as well. This superhero business really was shaping up to be something. Coming to a dead stop midair, you held both your hands up, firing simultaneous blasts with Tony, knocking Loki down to the ground in a tumble.
With him down, the both of you killed thrusters and dropped. While his suit unloaded just about every weapon it had on it, you only kept your hands up. You may not have had miniguns and lasers but it would do just as well. Your eyes stayed on him as Tony spoke. “Make your move, reindeer games.”
Steve came over to your side, brandishing his shield. Loki seemed to give up immediately- and his ridiculous outfit, shimmered and vanished into a… still ridiculous but less so outfit. Hands outstretched it was almost like he was begging you to take him into custody. Either smart, not to fight all three of you, or playing you for fools. Hard to say.
You also noticed Clint was nowhere to be seen.
Tony recalled his weapons. “Good move.”
As you put your hands down, Steve looked to the both of you. “Mr. Stark. ...Lady.” Stumbling on exactly what to call you, but you could quite literally feel him making the connection, finally.
You and Tony answered him in unison, “Captain.”
                                           -------------------------------
While Tony and Steve took care of putting Loki in handcuffs and getting him up onto the jet, your primary focus became the surrounding area’s survivors. Loki had done a lot of damage to a couple of cop cars and injured more than a few people. There were also security guards for the gala hurt badly in the nearby alleyway. As more police started trickling in with ambulances in tow, you made sure to give concise directions. Severely wounded first, followed by the lightly injured elderly people that had been knocked over and trampled during the ensuing chaos.
There was a doctor in the building, someone told you, who was in critical condition, so you directed a line of first responder traffic that way. As you were helping an older gentleman up, Nat’s voice came over your comm. “We’re gonna need you to hurry up. We need to get back to the helicarrier.”
“Give me a second.” Bending down, you picked up his cane and handed it to him. “If you need treatment, there’s a shorter line on the third medic ambulance.”
He smiled. “Die Welt dankt dir. Unt Iron Man.”
Your German was a little rusty, but you nodded all the same, catching the meaning rather easily. “Alles Gute.” Turning, you took off to the sky where the Quinjet was hovering still awaiting your arrival.
“Danke! Danke!” The crowds were building up a cheer below.
Once inside the open hatch, it closed immediately behind you. Loki was seated on a bench, head down, hands bound. Nat flipped a few switches above her head. “Glad to have you back. You know, SHIELD has a clean up crew.” She was anxious, you understood why.
“A personal touch never hurt.” And it had just sort of become your thing. Cleaning up the aftermath of terribleness.
You deactivated your helmet, keeping the visor on for now instead. Tony slipped his own helmet off. “We didn’t lose time. And public opinion is probably pretty important right about now. Considering.”
Considering the Avengers had just gone out on their first mission, you supposed. Though if those files were to be believed, you were still missing some members.
Steve pulled his face hood off and turned to address you. “Was that really a good idea? You’ve gone to such lengths to keep up appearances, I don’t know that getting close with a crowd is in your best interest.”
“I’m alright. But I appreciate the concern.” Whatever came out of it, if the world figured it out (which they would), you’d just have to stand by your own decisions.
The air was tense inside the jet as it took off in a speedy blast, although it would be an hour yet before the group made it to the helicarrier. And when you did, Tony would get up to all sorts of snooping, so you weren’t sure if you wanted to hurry or delay.
While finally Tony took a moment to speak with Steve, something you wanted to pay attention to, you caught Loki looking at you. Something of an amused glare, if that were even possible. Unable to help yourself, you stared right on back, crossing your arms. The whole reason you were really here… it wasn’t to make a crowd feel better about the sudden appearance of a superhero ensemble.
The reason Fury wanted you here was sitting right in front of you, and briefly you dropped your eyes to the scepter Loki had been toting that was now in your team’s possession. The one that turned minds, supposedly. “LUNA scan that for me, please.” Calm (and very quiet) as you asked, not interrupting the other people in the jet thankfully.
Your attention turned back to Loki after the fact, arching a brow at him. His smirk grew wider. There didn’t need to be an overwhelming amount of evidence that he had wanted to get taken. This only confirmed what you already knew. But maybe if you just took a little look…
Eyes glazing over as you touched inside that dark space. Different from any other time. He stood what felt like yards away from you, staring- much the same way he had been- It was frigid here and he-
He seemed to be… wrapped in some very thin yellow static. Protecting himself? From you? Just beyond it he seemed to be mouthing some words-
“You think yourself a witch, do you?” It looked like his voice was out of sync.
Loki was moving. He was moving towards you. And you couldn’t get away. Nowhere to go. Nowhere to move to.
One step- then the next- and then in the blink of your eyes he was right on you, hand wrapped around your throat. “I’ve known far better in my time.”
With a powerful lunge he threw you from your feet, holding you down- drowning you. Uselessly you reached up, grabbing, clawing- efforts futile as his other hand came down, squeezing your windpipe. Fear consumed you completely-
So you projected it. Deep in this mucky water he’d created you pushed all of yourself forward and felt him falter just as your hands sunk inside of him. A high pitched whine rang in your ears. Taking your chance you shoved yourself forwards, twisting your body over top his until the water you’d been drowning in gave out, becoming so much deeper, and the two of you fell all the way down…
Someone was calling your name…
                                           -------------------------------
 “I don’t like it.”
Tony was doing his absolute best to not start off on the wrong foot. This was bound to be a much longer engagement than he’d have liked, and if he started trouble now… well, not only would it make it that much longer, but she’d be mad. And he couldn’t have that. “What? Rock of Ages giving up so easy?”
“I don’t remember it ever being that easy. This guy-”
A thud broke both their attention and Tony whirled on heel to see her drop to the floor. In two quick moves he was there beside her. “JARVIS, vitals-”
“Stark-”
His head whipped up, looking at Steve- who currently had Loki by the shoulders. His eyes were rolled far back in his head, with a trickle of blood coming from his nose. And when Tony looked back- she looked the same. “JARVIS I need those vitals now!”
“What’s going on back there!?”
Tony cradled her head forward- she suddenly started gasping- wet- heavy- choking? Choking for air? “Sir, she’s going into cardiac arrest-”
“She’s asphyxiating-!” He heard LUNA’s voice, strange considering he hadn’t asked her- but no time to think about it.
Her name fell out of his mouth several times in quick succession- and just behind him Steve picked Loki up from his seat and slammed him back against the wall with a harsh crack. “What are you doing to her?!”
Then so suddenly- “She’s stabilizing-”
“Honey, look at me...” Tony’s next breath finally came when her eyes rolled back down, closed, and then blinked a few times. When she tried to sit up, he held her as she gasped in what sounded like a painful gust of air, followed by coughing. “Easy, easy- breathe- tell me what hurts-”
Her hands reached up, clasping, clawing at him. “Tony-”
“Easy. Take it easy. You’re fine. I’ve got you. What happened? What did he do?”
Loki growled behind them. “What I did? That insolent wretch dared to-”
Steve shoved him against the wall again. “We’ve heard enough out of you.”
“She’s lucky to still be breathing. By my generosity alone- If you dare to put your hands on me again I’ll snap your neck-!”
Tony put his hand up, repuslor charging. “Keep talking and I’ll show you something generous.”
A boom of thunder rumbled the inside of the jet, followed by an almost immediate crack of lightning that illuminated the inside. Loki’s angry rambling ceased. Tony’s attention refocused, hand cupping the side of her face. She at least looked less pale, and her breathing had evened out. “What happened? Are you okay?”
Steve stepped back, arms crossed, as if blocking the both of them from Loki’s view. “What’s the matter? After all that yelling, you’re scared of a little lightning?”
“I’m not overly fond of what follows.”
As if calling the universe to continue its rampage, the ramp of the Quinjet screeched in a scrape of metal as it manually opened- rather, as someone ripped it open. A gust of wind tore through and a man stepped in. Just as quick he took Loki by the throat and then he was gone. Leaving everyone stunned. Tony sighed, annoyed down to his very core. “And now there’s that guy.”
“Go.” Finally she said something. “I’m fine- go- you can’t let him take Loki-”
Nat yelled from the front, “Another Asgardian??”
Steve stood out at the edge of the ramp, looking down. “Think he’s a friendly?”
Standing, helping her onto her feet, Tony directed a shake of his head Steve’s way. “Doesn’t matter. If he frees Loki or kills him, the Tesseract is lost.” He took hold of both sides of her face in his hands. “You really okay?”
“Yes- I’ll try and explain later- just go get Loki back. Don’t rough him up too much. I wanna be the one to kick his ass.” Her delightful fire he’d come to love meant she was probably more than fine. Even after such a scare.
“No promises.” Putting his helmet back on he stepped aside her to go to the ramp.
“Stark, we need a plan of attack!” Steve clearly had a huge objection to this.
“I have a plan.” Tony’s voice echoed out from the helmet. “Attack.” Wasting no more time than that, jumping clear of the ramp, following the heat signatures to the ground.
At least for round two they were in the middle of nowhere.

A Bradley James x Reader imagine
I was one of the few lucky people who could proudly say that they had their dream job. After I graduated,I started to apply to all kind of jobs, thinking that the more job applications I sent, the higher the chances of getting hired.
That turned out to be a successful strategy.
I received an email, after a couple of weeks, that said that I'd got the job as an interpreter for a convention that will be taking place in Florence in a week-ish. The email also said that the reason that they picked me out of more experienced people, was that I was also a make up artist. So,they required that kind of services too.
I couldn't help the laugh and scream of excitement that left my mouth after reading the email. This job was perfect! I could do two of my favourite things: my job and applying makeup. It also helped that it was in Florence. I loved that city! If I could, I would live there. The pay was really good too.
I immediately replyed asking the details of what I hat to do,the working hours and stuff like that.
Florence here I come!
***
I had been in Florence for about two days now, to settle in and go sightseeing. Just trying to make the best out of my free time.
As a matter of fact, today was the first day on the job. That's why at 6:30 am I was already out and about in the beautiful streets of Florence. I wasn't really an early bird, but seeing these fascinating, almost empty streets, made up for it.
I was honestly excited to meet up with the people I'll be working with. I knew that the cast was international, that explained my presence, but the series portrayed the story of one of the most famous Italian family of all times: the Medici.
They didn't tell me who the actors were and maybe that was for the best. If I knew that I was going to work with one of my crush, my professionalism would be compromised.
I arrived at the cinema where the conference will be held and I walked where the make up station should be. I met a girl named Audrey that politely greeted me and gave me a piece of paper with my time schedule and pointed the room where the actors were waiting for me.
Let's hope they have not been waiting for long, I even thought that I was on time.
I enter the room and seeing a couple of people I panicked and started talking without directly looking at them but looking at my schedule.
"Hi everyone. I'm Y/N and I'm going to do your make up today. They have given me a pretty rigid time schedule according to which, I have about half an hour to do your make up. There's four of you, gosh no pressure then, okay." I say and finally look up at them when I hear them laugh a little.
And holy moly. I didn't expect to see two of my biggest crush standing right before me. When I saw him,my breath got caught in my throat and I think my eyes went wide too, and I double checked on the schedule the name of the actors. And yeah, apparently I would be doing Bradley James and Daniel Sharman's make up today.
Oh god. Am I dreaming? I must be.
I keep glancing back and forth between them and the schedule. Then, not thinking that doing this in front of them would be embarrassing, I pinch my arm. And from the pain that is radiating from it,it seems that no,I'm not sleeping.
Way to go Y/N, great first impression.
I cleared my throat before saying:
"Okay well, who wants to go first?" I ask while getting everything ready.
Fortunately, they had already laid out every product I would be needing. Now, I only need to find a shade that matches them. They're guys, so they don't really need that much of make up. Just the base.
I hear someone sitting in the chair behind me so I turn around holding a bottle of foundation in my hands.
Bradley James, the most beautiful guy my eyes ever laid on,was just a palm away from me.
I smile at him and taking note of his skin colour I turn around again to find his shade.
"Hi, I'm Y/N. I'm going to apply an hydrating cream/primer. Don't worry, my hands are clean but they might be a little cold. So, sorry in advance." I say before applying the primer trying to behave like a normal person.
"Not a problem, I don't mind the cold. I'm Bradley, by the way." He says
Oh I know who you are.
I thought I should try and save my reputation from the humiliating moment of before, so I say:
"Oh I know, I'm a huge fan. If you hadn't already figured it out by the way I freaked out before. I'm sorry by the way, they didn't tell me who I was going to work with." I say laughing a little trying to lighten up the mood.
He laughs too and never letting his eyes off my face, he says: "Yes,it was hard to miss but I thought it was for Daniel. He usually gets the beautiful ladies."
Wait a moment,is he flirting with me or?
I stop for a moment and meet his eyes that were already on my face. I smile and I start to apply a little bit of foundation.
"Well, that too. I can't deny that he is very handsome. Plus,I'm a huge fan of "Teen Wolf" and "The Originals". He is not really my type, though."
Then I mumble: "Your skin is perfect,I don't see why you guys have to put make up too. Bah."
He laughs a little at this and than thanks me for the compliment.
"Okay guys, who's next? I'm nearly finished here." then referring to Bradley I say:
"Bradley please close your eyes, I'm going to spray a little bit of fixer and then you can go." He does what I say and after fanning him, I clap my hands and signalling to Daniel that he could come, I say:
"You're all set Bradley, you can go. See you later. Oh and please ,don't touch your face too much."
He says somethings along the lines of "will do" and goes away. I keep doing the guys' make up and then the girls'. They are all so nice and funny, I wish this job didn't last only a day.
***
We were now in the backstage at the cinema where the convention will be and I was chatting with some of the ladies when Sarah Perish comes. I excused myself and went to her.
"Sarah? Hi,I'm sorry to bother you, I just wanted to say that I'm a huge fan and your acting skills are absurd. I loved the way you portrayed Lady Catrina in Merlin. Those episodes were hilarious."
"Thank you, Y/N. Shouldn't you have already finished by now ?"
"Oh,no my work is about to begin. I'm going to translate from Italian to English and viceversa-" but then I was interrupted by a microphone assistant that was calling her. She excused herself right when Bradley was coming my way.
"Hi again" he says smiling
Oh,his smile was so beautiful.
"Hello to you too."
"So,you're a fan of Merlin?" He asks.
"Of course. That show is amazing,so well made. Also, Colin is so adorable." I hint knowing that he always complains about people fanning over Colin.
He snorts.
"What a surprise, everyone loves Colin."
I lightly laugh and say: " He wasn't the reason I started watching the show though. My friend recommended it to me, I looked at the plot and the cast,I saw your face and I decided to watch it."
I guess I was trying to flirt with him without looking a crazy obsessed girl. But probably, it was too late for that.
"Oh,that's good to hear. It seems that I'm the one who gets the beautiful lady now. Finally." He says joking, referring to what he told me when I was doing his make up.
"I don't know about the beautiful part, but the lady is yours indeed."
Then remembering something, I speak again before he could actually reply.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you something. Since I'll be the one translating what you're going to say, I thought it would be best if we agreed on a sign. So that I know when I can start translating without talking over you. What do you say?" I look at him and oh god, his eyes are beautiful.
"Good idea. I'll pause and look at you. Is that alright?"
"Sure. I apologize in advance for the way my voice is going to sound. A lot of people say that I sound like a little girl." I say laughing
"I don't see why that should be seen as a bad thing. I actually want to hear more of you."
"Oh, you'll be hearing enough of me today. Don't worry."
He smiles getting the joke, but looking a little nervous he looked at me and replyed:
"No, what I wanted to say is that I-I want to get to know you better. So I guess what I actually mean is, will you go on a date with me?"
What the hell is going on with my life?
I open my mouth a couple of times without being able to give him an answer. We hear a voice calling the actors on stage so he says:
"I'll come back to you after the interview." and with that he walks on the stage.
Oh god, what have I got myself into?
The fangirl inside me was screaming but I couldn’t focus on this now. I got a job to do.
Part 2?

Beta Affair pt 3
A/N: Here’s the most awaited! I hope you guys like it! Thanks for all the positive feedback you’ve been giving me! It means a lot!
1 2 3 4
Tumblr media
Taehyung
Wow! You’re beautiful Y/N! Please don’t ever be insecure about yourself, love yourself more. I know you’re sassy and everything but I know you have a soft side. You’re gorgeous 😍
As soon as you turned on the phone that texted popped up on your screen. Your heart skipped a beat, Taehyung really think you were beautiful.
You
Thank you Taehyung. Im sorry, I’m aggressive sometimes because I’m not used to receive compliments or to people to flirt with me. I thank you for trying your best 😂
You pressed send.
Suddenly you couldn’t wait for next week to finally meet him. How would it feel to hug him? How would it feel his touch? Would you feel the urge to kiss him? How would he react to you?
You talked with your friends and told them what happened and what was going to happen. They seemed to be really excited, both for you and to meet Taehyung’s friends. You girls started to make plans quickly. You looked for a place to stay, places to visit and you checked for the tickets to the convention.
*************************************************
A week later you were at the airport waiting for your flight. You were excited and nervous, you were going to finally meet Taehyung. Since you were gonna fly overnight he was awake and also on the airport. He called you and you two were talking while waiting.
“To be honest, I’m excited,” he confessed.
“I’m pretty normal, just nervous about the flight,” you lied.
“It’s going to be fine. Think that at the end we’re gonna meet and hang out,” he sounded too excited.
“Yeah...”
A voice in the intercome announced that you were starting to board the plane.
“Taehyung, I gotta go. I’ll call you when I arrive,” you said sighing.
“Alright, safe flight and don’t be nervous, I’ll give you a hug when we see each other.” He was so supportive you almost puked.
“Sure, I’ll punch your arm.”
“See ya later.”
Your friends were all smirking at you. “What?” You asked holding a laugh.
“You’re trying so hard. Don’t hold back, you’re head over heels for that man. I mean, we’re traveling the country so you can meet him,” your friend Emmy told you trying to make you admit your feeling. Never.
After boarding the plane you just slept all the way to New York.
Your friends had to wake you up because you didn’t even noticed when you guys arrived.
After picking up your stuff, you guys headed to the house you were staying in. It was pretty close to everything necessary. You guys unpacked and threw yourselves on the beds to rest a little.
You texted Taehyung to let him know you arrived but after not having an answer you just went to sleep.
You woke up to the giggles of your friends, when you opened your eyes and your vision cleared a little, they were just watching something on the TV.
“Ah fuck, what time is it?” You asked all groggy.
“It’s 2:00 pm Sleeping Beauty,” your friend Cindy told you.
“Shit... Do you think he arrived already?” You said returning to the room to look for your phone that was charging.
“Yeah, it’s been long enough for him to arrive.”
You turned on your phone and there was his reply a few hours later from yours.
I have arrived now. Imma rest a little, I think Im jet lagged but I’m glad you’re safe.
You found yourself smiling at the screen and when you raised your eyes all of your friends were watching you. They exploded in laughs when your expression changed.
“What’s so funny?” You asked annoyed.
“You’re smiling at your phone like a teenager. I think someone’s getting feelings!” Said Emmy.
“Can’t believe it, Y/N has a heart?!” Said Nikky.
“Stop it! It’s just a text saying he arrived good. Can’t I be happy about that?”
“Sure, sure.” They all laughed again.
An hour later your phone started ringing out of nowhere. It was Taehyung.
“Hello?”
“Hey, umm, where are you staying? Can I visit you?” He asked.
“Now?! I’m in pijamas already...” you said looking at yourself. Since when did you cared how you looked?
“Who cares. I want to see you, are you close?”
“I’d say we’re pretty close. Fine! Just let me change. We can meet up by a park that’s near.”
“Great, see ya there.”
You changed into some sweats and a decent shirt, put on your sneakers and you were heading out of the door when Amy said “Where do you think you’re going alone? What if something happens? Wait for us.”
You smiled because your friends cared so much for you, they were truly special.
You guys took the bus and then walked to the park, you all sat on a bench waiting for the guy. You were all bubbly and jumpy, your palms sweating and breathing heavier by the minute.
You phone made you jump when it rang “H-Hello?”
“The little demon is nervous? I can’t believe it.” He was making fun of your stuttering.
“Shut up! Did you call to make fun of me? I can easily go again.” You were agitated.
“Hey, calm down. Where are you? Im here already.” His deep voice calming you almost instantly.
“I’m near the big tree, on a bench with 6 girls.” You said looking at Emmy with wide eyes.
“Alright, I’ll go there.” He hung up.
“Fuck he’s coming,” you said too fast and jumping on your feet.
All of your friends started laughing. Your friend Nikky said “Hey, relax! It’s just a guy. You better calm down if you want to get that dick.” You almost choked “STOP!” You screamed while bursting in laugh.
Like in a dream you spotted him walking to you. It was dark already but the street lamps were lighting his perfect face. You grabbed Emmy’s hand—too tightly actually—and she unhanded you immediately.
You felt the time stopping with every step he took getting nearer. There was nobody else around you two. You were looking at him and he was looking at you, you never took your eyes off each other.
Finally he reached you. There, right in front of you was Kim Taehyung, the man who made your gaming night impossible and now was here giving you a zoo in the stomach. You both stood silently but you didn’t care, you were already enjoying each other’s company.
“Hi,” he said with his deep but breathy voice and you almost faint right there. He smiled and this time you actually felt your knees going weak. He had a perfect boxy smile, something you’ve never seen before.
You smiled and said “Hi,” back. You offered him your hand but he ignored it and came quickly to a hug, his arms wrapping your small figure. He was really tall, everything about him was big. You were stiff due to the surprise of the sudden contact but then you hugged him back.
“You’re so tiny! So cute!” He said while looking at you from bottom to top.
“Yeah, you could say that.”
Your friend Aria cleared her throat, reminding you they were there. You introduced them to Taehyung and he said “I didn’t know they would come, I would’ve brought my friends.”
Aria answered “Don’t worry, we just wanted to accompany her to make sure she was alright. I’m pretty sure she’s gonna be in good hands now,” she winked! You looked at her alarmed but then Taehyung interrupted you. “Shall we go for a walk around?” He offered you his arm to grab and you did.
“We’ll be here, no rush. You can take your time,” said Amy.
You and Taehyung went away in silence but side by side.
As soon as you were away from your friends you let go of his arm and he complained “Why are you like this? Are you not happy to finally meet me?”
“Y-Yeah, I’m just not used to being touchy,” you said trying to hide your blushing face but for your bad luck, he noticed.
“Oh my God! Are you blushing? The little demon blushes! That’s adorable.” He said too excited.
“Stop it!” You said covering your face with your hands.
“Hey, it’s okay.” He grabbed your hands and took them out of your face. “You look adorable when you blush.” His deep and mellow voice, making you shiver. He didn’t let go of your hands, in fact, he held them in his.
Your eyes locked and in that moment you understood this man was going to be your downfall. A man who lived at the other side of the world, a man that you met under not-so-normal circumstances. For this man you would try anything, for this man you would do anything.
You shook your head, returning to reality, he just smiled. “Shall we walk around?”
“Sure,” you said nervously, hoping that walking helped you with the nerves.
You talked for hours sat on a bench, you guys looked at the stars and at the moon together. You watched the kids running around and before you knew it, it was really late and you had to return.
Your friends weren’t there anymore and when you checked your phone you had messages from all of them saying they were leaving because they were tired. You were so consumed in the conversations with Taehyung that you didn’t even heard your phone.
“Shit, they’ve left me. I’ll have to go back alone” you said a little annoyed.
“You can’t go back alone, that’s dangerous. I’ll take you there.” Was he even real?
“A-Are you sure? But then you’ll have to come back alone,” you said trying not to make him worry.
“I don’t mind. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to you.” He messed your hair and you hit his arm playfully.
You guys took the bus back to where you were staying. You guys talked some more and when there was nothing left to say you would just look at each other.
His eyes were a galaxy and you a curious girl who wanted to explore them. The intensity on those eyes made your stomach go on a knot. Did he felt the same or was he doing it on purpose?
You guys arrived at the place. He took you to the door and there facing each other.
“Thank you for bringing me back. You didn’t have to,” you said smiling.
“It’s nothing. I hope you had fun and I hope I didn’t disappoint you,” he said part joking, part seriously.
“Nahh! You’re just taller than I imagined.” And way more handsome.
“Well, see ya later. You coming to the convention?” He asked.
“Yeah, I’ll be there to see you lose.”
“We’ll see about that.”
He then got closer and you instantly panicked and stepped back but he didnt noticed and kept coming closer. He embraced you in a big hug, his perfume invading your nostrils. He smelled really nice. And then out of nowhere his lips kissed your cheek, a little gasp coming out of your mouth. You hope he didnt hear it but if he did, he ignored it. Your shocked face you couldn’t conceal, he just laughed, turned and walked away.
When you opened the door you caught your friends peeking through the windows.
“You weirdos!” You screamed.
“We wanted to see if the kiss happened, but apparently you guys don’t believe in that,” your friend Caroline said.
“Let me guess, you didn’t sucked his dick either,” said Nikky.
“You guys are weird, I’m going to sleep.” Amd with that you changed your clothes and jumped to bed. Sleeping was easier because Taehyung was in your mind tonight.

The next weeks Bucky and Tony met regularly and played games together, in private, off their youtube channels. It was a nice change to recording games. There was no pressure to do everything right and be funny at the same time. It was care-free and they could talk about a lot of things besides games as well. Both Tony and Bucky had outed themselves on their youtube channels and that exposed both of them to some hatred online. They talked about their experience with past boyfriends and what they had done before they had started on youtube. Tony had been an engineer before and he still was to some point. He told Bucky about his plans to start a new series testing out gadgets and tech devices, most likely involving explosions in one way or another. It all sounded very interesting.
Eventually Tony brought up the subject of doing a series together.
"I don't want you to think that I wouldn't want to do a series with you, I really do, but I don't want to pressure you into that kind of exposure because I know it's not just all hunky-dory, so I want you to make the call." Tony had said one day and Bucky really had to think about that.
He wasn't sure if he really wanted to be put on the spot and exposed to potentially 7 million viewers. Bucky was very happy with the way his little community was growing and you really needed a thick skin if you did a collab with Tony because Tony's hardcore fans rarely liked a newcomer and were not afraid to show it. He would like to see his channel grow but was it worth the risk that someone found out his secret.
His secret, that was a whole different story, because he hadn't even told Tony about his missing arm.
"I'll think about it. I like what we got going right now, Tones." Bucky didn't say that he feared their relationship would change if they started doing videos together.
"Yeah, no problem. I know my fans can be difficult."
(More after the break!)
---
It was a few weeks later when Tony was preparing to leave for PAX. The gaming convention was a regular thing for Tony and he always had large meet-ups with fans and was invited to speak on several panels for new games.
Bucky, on the other hand, had only ever seen a convention via the live feed and he didn't want to change that any time soon.
"You could come with me, you know? You could stay backstage if the exposure is not your thing, I'm sure I can get you a pass, they always give me some."
"Nah, It's too far away for my taste and too many people."
"Okay, I can understand." Tony had sounded disappointed at Bucky's refusal to come, had even offered to pay for the flight to Boston and accommodations, but Bucky had made up excuses that he couldn't come. Tony's desire to meet him had become clear to Bucky for some time now. Their friendship had evolved over the months, seeing as their relationship had started with both of them admitting they thought the other was cute there had been a certain vibe of something more since the beginning but it had become clear now. They were talking more and more outside of playing games, leaving each other messages on discord for when the other was offline.
They exchanged phone numbers at last, so far they had always been on their computers when they talked to each other, but now that Tony would be away for a while it had become necessary. Bucky hadn't thought about it much, it was just another way to message each other, but he was soon shown otherwise when Tony started to message him pictures of himself making funny faces when he was waiting backstage and bored.
"Even mining cobblestone for 5 hours wouldn't be as boring as waiting for them to set up the stage. You'd think they knew what they were doing." Tony wrote him on the day the panel with him and a few other YouTubers with a high sub count was being held. Bucky was sitting in front of his PC watching the live stream. It was currently displaying a message about technical difficulties.
"If only they'd let me help. I could figure it out." Tony wrote and Bucky could imagine the cute pout on his face.
"I'm sure you could," Bucky answered with obvious sarcasm.
"Hey, I totally could. I've got a Ph.D. in engineering."
"You what? O_O" Bucky almost dropped his phone.
"Yeah, I studied at MIT. Did I never tell you?"
"Nooooooooo! I mean... I knew you were smart but not that you were an actual genius." Bucky couldn't believe it.
"Got the paper to prove it an all. Oh, I gotta go, they finally figured it out."
That was the last message before the panel went live and Bucky could watch Tony answer questions about games and youtube. The fact that Tony was an actual genius never left him that day.
Tony sent him more and more selfies and photos of his day and Bucky had to grin at every single one of them. Tony was hilarious and extremely handsome. Of course, Bucky knew what Tony looked like but seeing Tony so carefree and private was something different and to know that these pictures were just for him. It made Bucky's heart beat a little faster and Steve occasionally caught him staring at his phone for minutes on end grinning from ear to ear.
"You're crushing so hard, Buck," Steve said one day when Bucky was lying on the couch scrolling through all the pics Tony had sent him.
"I'm not, I just like the guy, that's all," Bucky said and when Steve didn't answer with a snarky comment again Bucky looked up.
Steve was smiling at him, not that shit-eating grin when he wanted to make fun of Bucky but a fond smile that made Bucky pause for a moment.
"I'm happy for you, you know," Steve said. "After all you've been through. I'm happy that you found someone again."
Bucky had had a few relationships in the past and none of them had been particularly bad, but after he lost his arm he had never gone back to dating or meeting people in general. He had lost his confidence, didn't see himself as attractive anymore and so he had holed up in his room most of the time. It had only been a year or so ago that he had found the courage to be more open again. He had started using a webcam for his videos and had joined Steve on outings on occasion. Still, he had never thought about dating again. The thing with Tony, however, it had grown into something more than friendship without him even realizing what was happening.
It hit Bucky like a fist in the stomach. He had fallen in love.
With Tony.
He swallowed hard and buried himself deeper into his blanket. "He found me if anything..." Bucky mumbled and then gasped and dropped his phone when Steve hugged him without warning.
---
Bucky woke up at 3 am to his phone furiously beeping. It could only mean one thing.
Tony.
Already smiling Bucky reached for his phone and found that he had several messages from the other. Excitedly he opened them up and was surprised to not only find a few messages but also a rather large video file.
"Bucky"
"Bucko"
"Buckaroooooo"
"I hav to tel u somthin"
"Fuk, why is the"
"screen so fuzzy?"
Bucky chuckled. It looked like Tony had been out partying and was now drunk messaging him. He wondered what kind of shenanigans Tony got up to this time and clicked on the video.
The video was shaky and it looked like Tony was sitting in his bed, hair a complete mess and his eyes bloodshot.
"Bucky," he slurred, definitely drunk, "Buckaroo, Buckster, Sunshine. I have to tell you something." His tone was serious unlike the other drunk messages Bucky had received and a dreaded feeling came over him.
"I hope you're not mad at me. " Tony grabbed for a pillow with his free hand and hugged it to his chest. "I did something. I am drunk, as you see, but that is not the thing I did. It is /a/ thing I did but it's not /the/ thing I did." Tony shook his head and needed a moment to focus on the camera again. "I hope I don't regret this because I really like you. Like really really like you and that...that's the problem." Tony ran his hand through his hair, disheveling it even more and Bucky started to worry even more. He had a feeling Tony was going to cut off all contact between them, that Bucky was just not good enough. Tony certainly had more important things to do than hang out with Bucky late at night.
"Bucky." Tony's stern tone of voice made Bucky focus back on the video.
Tony had brought the camera close to his face and was staring right at it.
"I love you."
Bucky threw the phone across the bed like it had just bitten him. Surely he hadn't heard that right. Bucky stared into the darkness, the phone had landed screen first on the end of the bed and he could still hear Tony's muffled voice coming from it. It had to be a joke, Tony was drunk, that had to be it.
With a racing heart, Bucky crawled to the end of the bed and picked up his phone again. The video had stopped.
Slowly Bucky sat back down again, pulling the covers around himself and then played the video again and this time he kept watching after Tony had said the words.
"I said it. I said it. Yes. Bucky, I love you. I've been crushing on you so hard ever since I saw your first video and then I contacted you and then you turn out to be this amazing person and I shouldn't have fallen in love with you. You probably don't need someone like me in your life, but I couldn't stop myself. The way you smile, the way you laugh. You're such a wonderful person and you put up with me of all people when I'm such an obnoxious douchebag. I'm an arrogant asshole. If you looked up narcissistic Youtuber on urban dictionary there'd be a reference to me." Tony had worked himself up into a full-blown rant, about himself. Bucky could hardly listen let alone watch how self-deprecating Tony was behaving. It made no sense to him.
How could Tony even think that Bucky wouldn't want him?
Eventually Tony ran out of steam and he hid his face in the pillow.
"Please don't be mad at me, Bucky. " Tony mumbled, barely audible and then the video ended. Bucky sat in silence, stunned and confused. He had never dared to hope that Tony reciprocate his feelings and now Tony had been the one to confess his feelings to him and he even felt bad about it.
Bucky was still thinking about what to write Tony back to assure him that no Bucky he wasn't mad, quite the contrary when his phone rang with the call from an unknown number. Thinking it might be Tony Bucky answered without hesitation.
"Tony?" He asked hopefully.
"Sorry to disappoint you but this is Rhodey, Tony's friend. You might know me as Warmachine."
Bucky frowned, he had never talked with Rhodey before but Tony had talked plenty about his best friend. "I know who you are. Is Tony alright? Has something happened?"
"Tony's fine. He's passed out after he sent you that video, that I only got to see the end of. Live and in color. That's why I wanted to talk to you." Rhodey sounded serious and Bucky's heart sunk.
"I'm not gonna use the video to black mail him or anything."
"Didn't see you as the type to do that but I appreciate it, but that's not what I was worried about." Rhodey paused for a moment and sighed. "Could you let him down gently? When you tell him you're not interested? Make it a bit easier for him?"
"Hold on." Bucky sat up straighter. "Why would I do that?"
Another sigh on Rhodey's end. "I didn't want to go into details but Tony's had some not so nice relationships and he doesn't take it easy when he's rejected, so maybe tell him you're seeing someone else - "
"No, I mean, why would I tell him I'm not interested?" Bucky asked thoroughly confused.
Rhodey sounded as confused as Bucky felt. "Because you're not? Or.... are you?"
"I- ", Bucky was suddenly put on the spot and didn't know how to formulate his feelings. "I think I am? I don't know. I always thought he couldn't be interested in someone like me and I never thought anything would come of it." Bucky confessed, trying not to think about that he was talking to a stranger, a stranger that was Tony's best friend. But from what he knew about Rhodey from his videos and Tony's stories he seemed like a guy you could trust and so it just came spilling out of Bucky. "I'm a fucking nobody next to Tony that he even talks to me is a miracle in my eyes and I like him. I like him a lot and I didn't want to ruin our friendship because I suddenly developed feelings. And I haven't told him a few things about me. Important things that he should know before... you know."
Rhodey suddenly chuckled, a soft laugh with no malice. "You two are something. Tony told me the exact same thing, that he didn't want to ruin your friendship, yadda yadda and that you wouldn't want him if you knew about his past relationships."
"But I know about his relationships..." Bucky said.
"Yeah, he probably told you everything was fine and mutual."
"Oh," Bucky said intelligently, suddenly realizing what that meant. A long silence followed afterward before Rhodey was the first to speak.
"And what about you, what is your secret, huh?"
"I...," Bucky hesitated, was he really going to tell Rhodey what he hadn't even dared to tell Tony?
"You don't have to tell me, but just so you know, there is very little that could make Tony turn away from someone he really cares about. He's not shallow, contrary to popular belief. So whatever it is, I think you can stop worrying." Rhodey assured him
"I'm disabled." Bucky blurted out and was surprised at himself. That was probably the first time ever he had said it out loud. He heard Rhodey laugh and Bucky felt like throwing up. It had been a mistake. His thoughts were going haywire about possible consequences, he was screwed, absolutely screwed, he'd have to break off any contact-
"Hey, don't worry about that, okay?" Rhodey said and brought Bucky's racing thoughts to an abrupt stop. "I can assure you Tony's not an abelist asshole if that's what you're scared off. He knows how to deal with it."
"Okay." Bucky managed to say after taking a deep breath.
"I'm gonna go and tuck Tony into bed now, maybe you can write him a nice message so he doesn't freak out in the morning because I'm sure he will."
"Yeah, sure. I wanted to do that anyway." Bucky leaned back in bed, suddenly feeling like a weight had lifted off his shoulders that he hadn't even known he was carrying.
"And Bucky?"
"Yes?"
"You're all he ever talks about and I haven't seen him this happy in years, so...." Rhodey trailed off, leaving Bucky to figure out the rest.
"Is this the shovel talk?" Bucky grinned, Rhodey was clearly joking.
"I used to be US Airforce, just so you know," Rhodey said in all faux seriousness.
Bucky snorted. "So what, I was in the army, I can take ya."
"Treat my boy right and you don't have to." With that Rhodey hung up and Bucky fell sideways into his pillows completely exhausted, but wide awake. He spent a long time thinking about what he wanted to write back to Tony. He finally settled on a heart smiley followed by a simple: "I love you, too, Tony." And after a few minutes, he added a few more lines explaining that he had been scared to tell him too and what two fools they were by not realizing sooner.
Bucky lied awake after that, phone clutched in his hand, thinking about what that meant for them because if they were to take it to the next level Bucky would no longer be able to hide behind his PC and weasel out of meeting Tony and he didn't really want to now anyway. If Rhodey was to be believed and Bucky trusted him because Tony trusted him then there was nothing to worry about.
He spent the next hours looking up flights to California until Tony started to send him a barrage of messages with how, what, why and a bunch of question marks. Bucky suggested they take it to Discord and talk there. Tony couldn't stop asking questions, Bucky got the feeling that he wasn't quite sober yet from the way he slurred his words but he managed to convince Tony that yes, he meant what he had said. Eventually Tony started to make all sorts of adorable noises.
"So does that mean we're boyfriend and boyfriend now?" Tony cooed into the microphone for probably the 6th time in the past 20 minutes.
Bucky laughed and wiped the wetness from his eyes. "Yes, that's what it means." He explained patiently. Tony was so adorable but that he felt that it was necessary to ask over and over again that this was real and that it was really happening, made Bucky ache for him. Rhodey had hinted at it earlier and that made Bucky not only sad but also angry. He was mad at Tony's exes for installing such a fear of abandonment in him, that he couldn't believe Bucky even after assuring him over and over again.
It also made Bucky worry, that he might not be enough for Tony, that he wasn't able to give Tony what he needed and he would end up just like his previous relationships and leave Tony. It terrified him.
A knock on Bucky's door brought him out of it. Tony was hiccuping softly into his ears.
"Bucky?" Steve asked from behind the door. "Have you been up all night?"
"Who's that?" Tony slurred.
"That's my flatmate, Steve, told you he's a pain in the ass sometimes," Bucky explained.
"I heard that!" Steve yelled. "And all I'm asking is that you keep it down! I've been hearing you chitchat all night!"
"Well, excuse me. I've been talking to my boyfriend, didn't know that was a crime!" Bucky yelled back and then the door burst open.
"Boyfriend?" Steve stared at him with wide eyes. "When did that happen?"
Bucky checked the clock. "About 22 minutes ago." He said, grinning smugly.
"Tony?" Steve asked, searching Bucky's monitors for a clue and when Bucky nodded Steve tackled him in his chair with no regards to any recording equipment still attached to Bucky. They both tumbled to the floor, Steve enveloping Bucky in a bear hug and squeezed him tightly. "I am so happy for you!"
Bucky struggled to breathe under Steve's crushing weight and tried to get his arm free. He was worried that Tony might get the wrong impression. Finally, he managed to get his hand free and hit Steve in the shoulder, who finally let go. He hurried back to the computer and put his headphones back on.
"Tony, you still there?" The line seemed dead and Bucky quickly checked if the call was still connected. It was and then after listening closely, he could hear Tony softly breathing. Tony had fallen asleep.
"I hate you." Bucky punched Steve in the shoulder a few times for good measures because the guy was grinning smugly at him.

Request: hi!! can i request an imagine where the reader is an aspiring photographer and she messages sebastian on ig about shooting w him and he (miraculously) sees it and agrees to shoot w her?
Warning(s): Probably my filthy mouth, my technological ignorance, platonic relationship
Author’s note: @ requester, I’m so sorry I screwed this up, I know nothing about photography but I tried.
_____________________________
It had started as a joke. A meaningless joke that your friend dared you to do late one night, but as you were staring at the DM from Sebastian Stan himself, it wasn’t funny anymore. He had agreed to be your model.
“This is what I went to school for,” you told yourself jokingly as you read the two messages again.
You had begun the conversation the previous night with, “Hi! I’m a huge fan and I noticed you’d be in my area in a couple days for a convention. I’m an aspiring photographer and was wondering if by any chance you needed some photos taken? I would do it for free! Thanks, have a great day!”
Surprisingly enough, about twelve hours after you sent it, Sebastian followed you and began to like photos of your work. After you got that whole load of notifications, you noticed he had sent you a DM. “Hi, (Y/N)! I’ve checked out some of the work you’ve posted and you’re very talented! Coincidentally, I do need so pictures taken, I’ll be in your area at the end of the week if that works for you?”
“Thank you so much for your response, I wasn’t sure if you would ever see it! I so much appreciate the opportunity! Whenever you could squeeze me in works perfectly, I know you’re probably very busy!” You sent back.
The two of you messaged back and forth a bit working out the details until you decided you would meet at noon on Friday at a location that was about halfway between the convention center where he was and where you were located.
When Friday finally rolled around, you triple checked everything making sure you wouldn’t look like a fool in front of Sebastian. You ended up piling almost every piece of equipment that would fit in the car for fear you would need some of it and offend him somehow. The drive was nerve wracking, your hands shook on the steering wheel the entire time you were driving.
The place was a nice park near that you’d driven by a time or two. It always looked scenic when you saw it. Thankfully, it was a lovely day out. The sun provided you with near perfect lighting while the trees that had recently began to bloom gave you a perfect back drop. The only real downside to the venue was the people who walked by on occasion. You arrived early to set up your equipment and mentally prepare yourself. Not long after you showed up Sebastian arrived. He smiled ear to ear the moment he saw you and left his car. You were surprised that no one was with him.
“Hi!” He said as he walked up to you.
“Hi, how are you?” You asked extending your right hand for him to shake in an attempt at professionalism. He pulled you into a hug instead.
“I’m great and you?”
“I’m wonderful! Thank you so much for agreeing to do the shoot with me!” You said.
“Oh, don’t mention it! From everything I saw on your Instagram, you’re a very talented person. I couldn’t pass the offer up!” He told you. You blushed a little, flattered that he seemed to think so highly of you.
“I’m going to finish setting everything up and then we’ll get started, okay?”
“Sounds perfect!”
You set everything up hastily and the two of you chatted back and forth just getting to know one another. The shoot went amazingly well which you weren’t expecting. You were expecting a catastrophe of some sort, but nothing could’ve been better. Sebastian was a perfect and very willing model, you had everything you needed, really it was as though the stars had aligned and God himself was smiling at you from the heavens.
At the end of your shoot, you flicked through the camera with him looking over your shoulder as you revealed the pictures.
“They’ll look better after I touch them up a bit,” You told him, still flicking through the pictures.
“Better? Are you kidding? These are amazing!” You blushed again as you finished the pictures.
“How much do I owe you?” Sebastian asked.
“Nothing! I told you I’d do it for free.” You said.
“No, you have to let me pay you!”
“I can’t take your money!”
“Sure you can, it’s easy.”
The two of you argued on the subject for a bit before agreeing to him just promoting you on his Instagram once the photos were ready.

(Brooke's POV)
I woke up this morning a little earlier than Ty did so I decided to go into the living room of the hotel to watch some TV so I wouldn't disturb him. Our flight wasn't until later in the day so I wasn't too worried about waking him up just yet.
My phone rang and I saw it was an incoming face time from one of my close friends. I gasped and picked up my phone quickly and click the accept button. I was so excited to hear from her because she had been so busy lately she hadn't had any time to talk.
"Brooke!!!!" Jan about screamed from the other end of the line.
I laughed and waved "Hi Jan!!" I smiled at her.
"Oh my god I miss you! I'm so sorry that I haven't had anytime to talk to hang out with you! I mean you only live like 3 hours away from me now and ugh," she rolled her eyes "I promise that I will be done with the academy soon and I will make a trip to come visit you."
"That's okay! I'm just super proud and excited that you are almost done!"
"Aw thanks girl, I'm excited and happy about everything you have sent me messages about! You're living with Tyler now? That's exciting!" She smiled.
Jan and I had been friends for almost two years now and she was the best. I absolutely adored her and getting to spend time with her. We bonded over video games and later on our love for hockey, especially when she found out that I ended up liking the Dallas Stars when I first started watching the NHL. She was busy a lot of the time so I didn't get to spend as much time with her as I use to when we first became friends, but I appreciated that she always checked up with me to make sure I was doing well.
"Yeah I'm just glad that I didn't have to leave Texas, I fell in love with it down there, and to think I'd have to come back home so soon was really making me on edge."
"Oh I can imagine. I know how long you have been wanting to get out of that town, I'm just glad that everything worked out for you. Oh! And happy belated birthday! Sorry I couldn't get to you earlier in the week."
"No its fine! Thank you! I'm getting old," I laughed and she rolled her eyes.
"You aren't even close yet sweetheart."
"I know I know," I smiled.
I turned and noticed that Tyler was standing in the doorway of the bedroom just watching me. I smiled at him "Morning sleepy head," I laughed and he walked over to the couch and sat next to me.
"Tyler this is my good friend Jan, Jan this is-"
"Tyler Seguin, you think I don't know who he is?" she laughed.
"Oh I know," I laughed with her and Tyler smiled and waved.
"Hi nice to meet you," he said.
"Nice to meet you too!"
"Oh shoot I just noticed the time. I should get going I have class starting in a little bit. I'll talk to you again soon I promise! Love ya!"
"Love ya too!!" I smiled as we both hung up.
I put my phone down and turned to Tyler who looked like he was still half asleep. I smiled and pushed the hair out of his face and he looked over to me, giving me a sleepy smile.
"She was nice," he said and I nodded.
"Yeah I've been friends with her for about two years now."
Tyler nodded as he yawned and laid his head on my shoulder. "Why don't you go back to sleep?" I asked him and he fake snored. I laughed and poked his nose. "Faker," I said and he bit my finger. "Hey! rude," I laughed and pulled my hand back.
"I just need some breakfast and then I'll be ready to go for the day."
"Okay well my hand is off the menu. How about we order something?" I asked and he nodded. I leaned forward and grabbed the menu off the table where we had left it last night and opened up to the breakfast menu and held it so that he could look at it with me.
We decided on a dish that came with a sample of pancakes, waffles, and french toast, along with some toast with jelly and home fries. We decided that was going to be more than enough for the two of us.
After we ate breakfast Tyler jumped in the shower and I changed into a cute maxi dress that I had got at one of the stores in town earlier this week. We had decided to head down to Boston a little early so we he could take me to his favorite restaurant for dinner before we got on the red eye he had booked for us. I wasn't sure why he had changed our flight plans last minute but I wasn't going to argue, I was enjoying this vacation time with him and if it got to last a little bit longer I was okay with that.
Tyler and I got our stuff packed back in our bags and cleaned up the hotel room before we went down to the lobby to check out. We stopped by my mom and dad's house to say goodbye to them before we headed to the highway towards Boston.
The drive didn't take long and we got into the city around 3 which gave us some extra time to explore a little bit before our reservations were ready. Tyler took me to a few spots he thought that I would like while we were there and it was great. I hadn't ever really been in Boston except for when I had come down to visit my Aunt when she was in the hospital before she passed when I was 17. The only other time I was in Boston was for a Supernatural convention was I was like 15, which was great I got to take pictures with Jared and he was so nice.
The restaurant that Tyler brought me to was beautiful and the food was amazing. This whole week had been amazing and a lot of fun but I was ready to go home and take a long nap. After we had dropped the car off at the car rental place we took a shuttle over to the airport and went through security. I had looked at a few signs and saw the direction that we needed to go for the flight to Dallas but before I could get too far Tyler grabbed my arm.
"Whats the matter?" I asked, turning to look at him.
"We aren't going that way," he smiled at me.
"What do you mean? That's the flight to Dallas that leaves in 30 minutes.. isn't that us?"
Tyler shook his head and handed me my plane ticket. I scanned over it and saw that we weren't headed back to Dallas we were going to Toronto. I looked up at Tyler, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Toronto?"
"Yeah we are going to go hang out with my family for the week," He smiled at me and started leading me in the direction of our actual flight.
"W-wait what?" I asked.
"Whats the matter?" He asked and looked over to me.
"You're bringing me.. to meet your family? Why?"
Tyler shrugged "Well I had planned to head back home to spend some of the summer with them but I didn't want you to be bored at the house by yourself."
"Oh," I said and followed him.
"Do you not want to go?" He asked me softly.
"No no I do! I just- Wasn't expecting it that's all," I smiled up at him.
"Don't worry they are all going to love you," he said and wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
It was funny how Tyler already knew what I was worrying about before I started to even worry about it. I mean I didn't imagine he brought home a lot of random girls to meet the family, best friend or not. But I trusted Tyler and wasn't going to stress about them liking me, I was just going to be myself and have fun on this trip. It meant I got to spend more time with Tyler which is what I loved getting to do more than anything so this was fine by me.

The day seemed to long today (and its only 3:15).
It appears my tumblr and discord apps are no longer notifying me of anything.
I spent most of the late morning drinking stale coffee, writing briefs and listening to TFOT at work. The ghost of that convo with Denali kept poking its head in -- after inheriting a TFOT tee she looked them up and was disappointed that a band with such a cool name sounded like that. It made me laugh. It made me bite my lip and whisper a confession that I’m not as cool as I seem with my peppering of premature gray and red-faced snorting responses to Lord Byron jokes. I like your Vampiric dubstep opera singers and can remember a thing or two about Riotgrrl but I’m mostly lame. It’s funny, listening to TFOT always reminds me how much I miss Denali and how very long ago all that seems now.
It’s okay, I know my tastes are strange and my friends are there in spite of my oddities. I spent the lunch hour crunching seasoned, freeze-dried peas and cursing under my breath as I dug for info on an orchestra that may or may not exist. My deskmate, a copyeditor, tolerated me.
At the end of the day I got my first real A&E assignment. A Canadian folk band is playing the convention center NYE. If I can get in touch I can interview. I can be a real reporter. I have heartburn. I will read it all tomorrow and hope I can find the right words for a spell that will conjure something passable.
I should be writing fiction right now.
Right now, in my dark office. Right now, on the wrong side of solstice. Where no light threatens to touch the odd strings and splotches of plot and character that could be made sense of. Could be reasoned into story.
Doesn’t matter. I’m being social. Hey there world. Let me whisper my things here while I’m holding on. While my foot is not yet through the ice.
The common millennial refrain (I’m actually an old one, thanks) is that adulting is hard. But that’s not it. That’s never been it. Peopleing is the hard part. It’s much easier to be disembodied, silent, reading better things in a shut up room.
Anyway, it’s winter. It’s time to break out the Frank Zappa and Echoes of Eternity -- Nanook and darkness, dog-doo snowcones and circles in stone -- the very spirits of olde yule. Time to stock the old tea tin, find a sitter, set aside a few hours to watch “Life of Brian” solo on Christmas day. There’s my ritual, my observance of the wheel of the year. I'm a miserable jerk but I will dedicate one day to forgetting that to imagining myself clever as I fight to stay awake through the musical number -- what was it, “Always look on the bright side...”
I should be writing fiction right now. I’ve put it off long enough. So here I go, breathe and repeat, cold glass of water... The year was 1865...
